Bathroom was pretty dirty, bottom of toilet was covered in yellow grossness (I noticed while blow drying my hair) and hair in shower/on towels. We thought it would be more of a charming type of age to it, but it just seemed outdated. Staff were nice and helpful.

This is a nice old property in the Pearl district of Portland only a few blocks from the soccer field and lots of restaurants and bars. There's an on-site restaurant and an exceptional bar with lots of atmosphere. Our room and bathroom were very small. The room was quite crowded and we could barely get our luggage in the door. It was pretty much all bed.

Our favorite hotel in Portland. When my wife and I need to get away from the children and out of Seattle we drop them at Grandma’s and check in to the Hotel Deluxe. Well kept rooms, friendly staff, classic ambiance, a lovely lounge/bar and ideally located for walkability. We had a great time again and we will be back.

Really lovely historic hotel that does seem to match the photos and is well maintained! The bathrooms are quite small though with no counter space and the shower is so small and dark that shaving legs is a challenge. My friend used the suite as her getting ready room for her wedding while I stayed in the smaller standard room. She said her suite was awesome but the bathroom had poor lighting for doing makeup. I thought our standard room was quiet, loved breakfast daily at Gracie's near the lobby, and would definitely stay here again. It is an easy walk to tons of local restaurants and ships.

What an excellent experience staying at this hotel. Immediately you walk in and you are greeted with this wonderful scent in a beautiful front entrance and lobby. The front desk staff was extremely nice, informative and was great. I very much appreciate that. The hotel is very clean and I stayed here in two different rooms in both of the rooms were very clean which is very important to me. The hotel is also very quiet which I appreciate. The bed is super comfortable. Definitely stay here. I have no complaints.

They assigned me to a suite instead of a 2 queen bed room, but that worked out okay in the end. However, the couch was covered with a stretchy couch cover because the underlying leather cover had worn away. I would think they could afford re-upholstering a couch or just buying a new one?

Room was tiny with no outlets for charging anywhere near the bed. Room was not attended (they clean every third day) so glasses were not replaced or garbage emptied. Keys kept not working meaning I had to go to lobby to have the keys reprogrammed pretty much every time I returned. Rooms a bit tired (hole in the door where a security chain once was). It does have funky charm, art deco style, period movie star photo art. So if you have no needs, don’t care about them not coming into to refresh your coffee station even though you put the “lights, camera, action” tag on your door, and don’t mind a $900 bill for the room, which included daily garage parking and 4 breakfasts for 1, then you’ll be happy staying there. They did leave small apples out at a tea/coffee station in the lobby. So that’s something you get. One or two staff members were nice and tried to be helpful but were outnumbered by those who thought no help was the perfect norm. To be accurate when we arrived and our room was very cold, we got a portable heater and we did get new towels (and a sheet change) after 2 nights because we called front desk. Forgot to mentioned large noisy blower outside one window (which never stopped despite staff claim to contrary) and industrial view out other.

To start, I was surprised to be charged an additional $45 for parking without clear communication ahead of time. As a guest, I expect transparency—especially when extra fees are involved. When I entered my room, although the space itself looked decent at first glance, the cleanliness was not acceptable. The carpet had visible stains, which immediately made the room feel poorly maintained and unhygienic. The next morning, I asked about breakfast and was informed that it was not included with the room. While I understand that not all hotels offer complimentary breakfast, this was not clearly explained during booking. Additionally, the front desk staff member I interacted with that morning lacked professionalism and did not provide a welcoming or helpful experience. Another major concern was the parking situation. Accessing the parking lot after 10 PM was confusing and inconvenient. The entry and exit process is not clearly marked, making it unnecessarily difficult for guests to navigate—especially at night. Overall, this stay was disappointing due to poor communication, lack of cleanliness, and unprofessional customer service. Management should take these concerns seriously and focus on better staff training, clearer policies, and improved maintenance. I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made. Guests deserve a clean, transparent, an

Our stay was for two nights. Room was clean. Hotel was fairly clean. Staff responded to request for extra towels the next night. However, the shower didn't work properly, and it was basically unusable. We let the staff know after our first night. They sent someone up to repair it, but it wasn't fixed correctly. Based on that experience alone we would not recommend or return to this hotel. There was no manager on site to handle our complaint. Upon checkout, the front desk staff handed me a handwritten email address of a 'manager' who is in Texas. No business card or general information about corporate was provided even though I asked. The front desk staff seemed clueless to how to respond to this. I emailed the itinerant manager, and have not received a response. This is quite unfortunate. Based on this experience, I would not return or recommend this hotel.

With expedia gold i do have extended check out which was offered to me when checking in. So obviously from being out of town and our flight not being until 5pm, i said yes. Day comes to check out and at 12 the cleaning lady told me “i wasn’t aware you had extended check out” so i confirmed with the manager at the front and claimed it wasn’t on my reservation…. He ended up giving it to me after explaining the situation. But at 1pm i get a call from him rushing me out of my room saying “it’s past your check out time” I didn’t even want to argue anymore, I just left.

No air conditioning. The hotel heaters were on even in the lobby even though it was in the high 70s F outside in portland. The room was hot the entire stay. Some things were broken or a bit dirty in the hotel room. The hotel room door would not open after trying it way too many times, we had to ask someone from the front desk to open it. He ended up having to push his weight into the door to get it to open. We then also had to do this every time we wanted to go into the room. Parking is close. Staff was really nice. The beds are nice. The bathroom was nice. There was a very large industrial massive pipe on the side or the hotel (not sure what the purpose is) its loud and right outside the hotel window so we had to listen to that during our stay. Hotel has a funny older building type of smell.

I really wanted to love Hotel Deluxe in Portland. The building itself has that classic old Hollywood charm. Walking into the lobby felt like the kind of place where Bogie and Bacall might have stayed in the 1940s. The lobby, elevators, bar, and even the hallways are grand and elegant and gave a wonderful first impression. Unfortunately, the room itself felt a bit subpar and dated compared to the rest of the hotel. It was very large, which was nice, and the bed was comfortable, but there were some noticeable issues. The headboard had tears, the picture above the bed was slightly off center, and one of the dresser drawers would not stay closed and kept sliding open. The oversized curtains also would not fully close because they were blocked by the dresser. Heating was also a challenge. There was a small mini split that barely warmed the room unless you were sitting under it on the couch. We asked for extra blankets, which were brought up promptly, but they were stiff and heavily starched. They reminded me of the blankets you see handed out to recruits in old army movies, not ones in a botique hotel. The bathroom was clean, but the water temperature was difficult to manage. It started scalding hot, then turned freezing cold with no middle ground, and once the hot water disappeared it never came back. There was also a noticeable draft in the bathroom. The staff were pleasant and the common areas are truly which made me wish the rooms matched the charm of the rest of the hotel.

Nice hotel and cool staff. Really clean! Much smaller than it appears in the photos. The bar is pretty smal, but beautiful! We revived the best Long Island we've ever tasted. We ended up having to Uber into town because the Customer Service for the girl informed us that it's $40 for parking. Also, the steak that comes with the Steak Frites is really small, but it was still delicious.

We visited Hotel Deluxe as part of a celebratory trip for a milestone birthday. We told the hotel this in advance. They messaged three times to see if I wanted to purchase chocolate dipped for $35!!! We booked a suite, I thought it would have a separate room, it didn’t. Perhaps my fault for thinking it would be a typical suite- it was just a bigger room. They surprised us with a note to say happy birthday and provided 2 bottles of cheap water. Nothing else. We booked the hotel because it was a VIP Expedia property- as a Platinum member- I received a discount on parking- that was it. No upgrade, nothing. We had one robe in our room. Surprising as there were two of us. It was dirty and had long black hairs on it- I suspect it may have been left behind by another guest. The bed was very soft. The room had a funny smell. The hotel lobby was lovely. I wanted to visit the bar, but it didn’t open until 4pm. All in all, it was ok- nothing special. It’s a 3 star hotel, not good enough for a 4th star.

Two stars only because the staff was very friendly & helpful. However, I stayed in the King Premier Suite and was extremely disappointed. The old saggy throw pillows and scuffed up furniture looked like it came from a frat house. There was some sort of ventilation pipe outside the windows that was disturbingly loud. I expect more from a boutique hotel downtown. I will not stay here again.

Something was found in my room that you don’t think you should ever have to find a room. I found out when I got to my room back to my room. It was probably on 7 AM. I would have said something normally immediately as soon as I found it however I was up most of the night and I was super tired emergency department all I wanted to do was get into bed and rest. I thought I would have until 2 PM to check out because the gentleman at the front desk said it was 2 PM would be the latest check out without a fee but the front desk told me it was 1 PM so there are some inconsistencies and I feel like the staff need better communication and more training per se. The heater in my room did not work. I was cold and shivering the whole time. $4 per night for the parking garage. Breakfast is not included with all reservations so beware when booking. and the hotel does have like a vintage feel “upper class” when you walk in. good morning staff was very very helpful. The night staff not so much. English is very poor probably Russian or something and just kept saying that he was new there and didn’t really know much which is totally excuse. Water unacceptable.. other than that I’m sure this hotel is nice if you get a room with a working heater and AC and what not and yeah, I’m sure it’s great

Parking was also $40 for one night. Overall the stay was pleasant, hotel was quiet and clean. The entrance and lobby are beautiful. I would stay again. Just wouldn’t opt for paid parking again and would bring a case of water.

Our room was freezing, the windows painted over and the bathroom had a broken window. We were told we had been upgraded. There was no maid service, but never advised of such, Gracie’s was closed through our entire visit, but we were charged a “resort fee,” when complimentary water wasn’t even offered. The hotel either needs to be purchased by a larger org (sadly) or eliminate the fees and be transparent about the state and services (lack) being offered.

Other general information on the hotel, the front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The quality of the rooms are poor in general. Worn down finishes and plumbing fixtures. Aditional reason for a low review is the response from the manager. I made our concern known before check out and they said to call back when a manager is available as they would be able to help. Upon calling and hoping to resolve with them direct instead of leaving this review, the manager had no interest in resolving or understanding, offered no solutions or suggestions to help with the scenario, and then just hung up on me mid sentence. It's very strange to have that be the outcome to a repeat customer trying to find a solution through a polite and earnest conversation... The response from the hotel to this review may claim some excuse to cover their mistake. Believe who you will, just trying to warn others before they run into the same trap.

I really wanted to give this place a chance but should have just stayed at another nearby hotel. Staff were friendly and the location and parking are all great. However, the hotel is extremely outdated and not properly maintained. The showers do not drain and within a few minutes the tub is filled to your mid calf and it’s such a gross experience. I told the hotel staff and they shrugged their shoulders like it was not a big deal and that’s it’s to be expected for an old hotel. The room itself had a worn out look or was soiled such as peeling wallpaper, dirt on the floor, messed up upholstery and doors that’s don't close properly. The lobby gives you an illusion of a nice hotel but after experiencing two room swaps on different levels, this was not the case for us. Again, this is all my own personal experience and I truly dislike leaving bad reviews but it was just such a bad experience. We received a parking discount and waived resort fee, but still do not feel like this was enough for the bad experience but it was it is.

I had high expectations for this hotel. I was sort of upset when I got to check in, I was being over charged about $200. Luckily the receptionist fixed the price to what I was quoted online but have yet to see the refund, still waiting for it. I’ll give it a few more days. The bathroom stopped working for a few hours? It wouldn’t flush no matter how long the handle was held down for. Not sure why. There was also a bright yellow colored water coming out the faucet, still don’t know why. The walls are extremely thin… you can hear everything form the neighbors room. Yes, everything. Parking is a bit pricey but the area it’s in, I guess it makes sense. Walkable distance from various places.

Old charming hotel, however I booked this to have two adjacent suites together, and they were on separate floors. One of the elevators was down the entire time causing several minutes of delays. The hotel is a bit run down, and the "sofa bed" used for our nephew was peeling and cracking, he was coughing through the night. Alot of money spent for the quality. Also we were charged extra fees ontop of what hotels.com had mentioned, and double for parking one car one night. They had trouble combining the two rooms onto one reservation, and several charges pending on card made me uneasy.

The hotel is in a histroic building so not really updated. Got the queen suite that sleeps 4, travled with 3, kinda cramped. The photos make it look a lot prettier than it really is. The lobby is beautiful. Parking sucks. They have a Gracies parking lot, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL ENTRANCE, they dont allow the hotel guests to park in so they ask for you to park in the garage a little further down. The elevator does not work in that parking garage. The Gracies ONLY parking lot WAS ALWAYS EMPTY. 40 a night for the garage parking. They do not validate. If you can find a different hotel with perks, do it. I wouldnt stay there again for the price.

Just a few blocks up you’ll find the city center with so many coffee shops, places to eat, and shops, plus public transportation is close by as well. Hotel lobby is beautiful, with coffee, tea, and water available all day. We paid for a room upgrade, and the room itself was very nice, but you can tell some of the furniture needs updating. Beautiful lobby. Cool bar area. Convenient location helpful staff. Room was nice but smaller (it’s an older hotel so not unexpected). Not much space for toiletries in the bathroom. Overall stay was great.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Deluxe. The staff was welcoming and helpful from beginning to end. Enjoyed the lobby with its 1940’s movie glamour vibe which continued to the room. Both the bar and breakfast at Gracie’s were enjoyable.

Great location if you need to go to providence stadium. Pics on site are pretty accurate. It’s an old hotel but not overly priced. Would stay again.

Cool reception vibe, room sub-par hot, noisy, pet-stained "suite", parking one block away without working elevator. Close to Providence Park for soccer games & concerts.

This hotel is swanky and impressive. The hospitality was too notch from check in to checkout. The general manager was working the front door ready to help guest with anything they needed. Gave us a great lunch recommendation, help with parking and was always there to open the door for us. The bar was amazing. Try the ol’ fashion, it was one of the best I have ever had. I would definitely stay here again.

The location was convenient. The embiance was cool, very nostalgic. But the service was poor, our room was not cleaned for two days and when we requested it they only changed towels and garbage. Then tried to say we lied about requesting it to be cleaned. Won’t be staying there again.

Classic old place in a great location with a great bar. Comfortable room. We upgraded to a suite. I think that the hotel need to do away with the $30-$35 junk fee called resort fee. It’s not a resort. It’s an old vintage hotel.

It was a nightmare the room, I arrived at the hotel with my wife only to find out that what was on the website is totally different from reality there. I couldn't stay my wife and I immediately asked for a refund and we left asap. Embarrassing I will never recommend it to anyone. No way. I was there 06/01/2025. Still waiting for my refund

The staff was very friendly and nice. The room was advertised as a king suite, sleeping for 4. The pullout couch had a cover over it to mask that fact that the vinyl was deteriorating and although I specified 4 guests they hadn’t prepared the room with pillows, blankets, sheets, cups or towels adequately. We had to call to the front desk a few times to make these amends and they were happy to help. A very minor problem.

I liked the location and parking option. The lobby and driftwood bar have great vibes, loved the free coffee. Noticed some slight things in our room such as chipped paint and stained curtains that showed some age, but didn't bother us.

Definitely a charming and historic property. Sort of a lights camera action theme. Excellent bar. Property was featured on the show Grimm and in the movie Wild.

Our car got vandalized the morning of memorial day, at the hotel parking garage. There were 3 other cars that were also vandalized and a couple was also attacked physically. We lost a lot of our personal belongings. The neighborhood was shady and security was severely lapsed. The rooms are old, worn out and very tiny.

Hotel deLuxe combines wonderful architecture, decorating, and customer service. It's both low key and elegant, a great place to stay! The room was clean and pretty, the bed was comfortable, and the old fashioned soaking bathtub was amazing. The staff accommodated my request for fragrance-free bedding and that made for a healthy as well as a relaxing stay. Will definitely return!

When looking at where to stay overnight at Portland this hotel caught my eye because of its Hollywood glamour design. It feels elegant without being too expensive. Loved seeing all the pictures of stars and the intimate decor. Very clean rooms though a tad small but with all the necessary space. It also has a fabulous bar but we didn’t get to try it. We were there on a Tuesday so we also didn’t try the restaurant which only opens on weekends but brunch menu looked spectacular!
