The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. The location is also frequently praised for being convenient and close to amenities. However, some guests have complained about dirty rooms, slow elevators, and poor parking. Additionally, a few guests have had negative experiences with other guests and homeless people in the area.

Great quick stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast was a great addition.
- 3/5
Our room seemed clean initially but then we looked behind the beds under head boards and the clean was disgusting and there was a condom wrapper on the ground back there. One of the ned sheets had brownish stains and some of the pillow cases had stains. We discovered this around midnight after returning from a concert so we just slept on the clean bed with the clean pillows and left early. Will not return.
- 5/5
Most of the front desk staff were helpful and professional. However, our check-in experience with one older staff member was disappointing. She did not greet us or acknowledge our greetings, which felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. This stood out from the otherwise excellent service and should be addressed.

The pool área, the room and shower. The beds are comfy. The gym.

Facility was very clean & well maintained. Rooms were very comfortable as were the beds. Housekeeping staff does an excellent job! The rooms were spotless. Staff were very professional & helpful. Breakfast service was adequate but staff struggled to keep up with food demand, especially scrambled eggs & bacon. Otherwise service at the hotel was excellent!

I was in Portland for one night and I always stay at Holiday Inn Express! Once again, no disappointments and everything was great! I’ll see you next time I’m passing through Portland!

The location was perfect and easy to navigate throughout Portand, Oregon. We loved that the parking was free and the free breakfast was very good with different and tasty foods each morning. The staff were friendly and very nice. We were there for a full week. The only problem we encountered was that housekeeping changed our firm pillows that I requested after the first day, to softer pillows and the shower pressure was not as strong as I would have liked. The front desk did get housekeeping to change the pillows back on day 5, I believe. I should have spoken to the front desk earlier because they were more than helpful in getting our firm pillows returned. I would recommend this Holiday Inn and would return there for future visits.

Breakfast is good
- 4.5/5
Good bed and clean room. Decent breakfast. Free parking was great too. My original room was above the laundry room that the housekeeping staff uses, which caused my bed to vibrate during the late afternoon. It was too much for my senses to take and asked to be moved to another room.

This location was perfect for our trip to Portland, easy to get to everything we wanted. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and parking was a plus. We will definitely stay here on our future trips to Portland.

I will NOT be staying here again. Spend a little extra and stay somewhere else. At first we thought our room looked pretty clean but then we went out to eat lunch and when we came back, we noticed that there were ants all over the floor, toilet, shower, and walls in the bathroom. It looked like maybe a housekeeper came in and attempted to mop but it was still pretty dirty looking. I went downstairs to ask the front desk staff if someone could please come re-mop our bathroom and take care of these ants. The two employees working that afternoon were incredibly rude to us. The lady said “It’s ant season hun, everyone has them”. But that’s simply not true. I’ve never been to a hotel that had ants all over the bathroom. They never even apologized or asked how they could help and we didn’t even ask to switch rooms (which we should have). The lady said they’d see what they could do. We noticed they went up and put clean towels on the counter but nothing was mopped or cleaned up. We wiped a rag on the ground and could visibly see dirt on the rag. We then noticed the floor in the whole room, including the carpet, was super filthy. There’s a reason your hotel has ants, and it’s because it’s DIRTY. The staff never apologized and they just seemed annoyed of us. If they were more understanding about the situation, we would have felt differently, but they were incredibly rude. I do not recommend staying here.

Yes, the breakfast was very fresh.I enjoyed it in parking was good
- 5/5
If you want to visit Portland, which I’ve done several times, this is definitely my first choice from now on! It’s right across the Fremont bridge on the city side, so you have easy access to the waterfront and the east side, but also many of the very cool restaurants and shops on 23rd St. are very close! I was able to use that as my homebase and explore the city and visit family and it was wonderful! The staff are especially nice and welcoming, the rooms are spacious and clean, and there’s plenty of good parking. Excellent place to stay!
- 5/5
Breakfast was fresh but wished there was variety as it was the same breakfast back to back. Parking garage was a lit tin inconvenient because you had to get the opener from front desk and you had to return it every time after you parked
- 4/5
Comfortable beds made for great sleeps.
- 1/5
On a positive note Parking was great and they have nice coffee makers.
- 3/5
Room was ok - somewhat dated for the price in comparison to other hotels downtown.
- 5/5
Great breakfast, very secure facility.
- 5/5
AC great; good place.
- 3/5
The hot tub was broken our entire stay. Unfortunate because that was one of the reasons we chose this property.
- 4/5
Very good location, the coffee was great
- 5/5
Very much enjoyed our stay! Large and comfortable room, great pool, and hot tub!
- 5/5
The hot tub requires hotter to 102-104F
- 5/5
The staff was great, especially Leo, who was super accommodating to our groups needs. Thank you Leo and staff!
- 4/5
Clean room, staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. Just wish there was more parking up top but i was able to park on the garage below.
- 5/5
My 3rd floor room had been updated and was also very clean.
- 5/5
Convenient and clean. Good location. Close to downtown but without some of the downtown challenges.
- 4/5
Open parking was great; however they are remodeling so take that into thought as lots of renovation sounds so if you are hoping for a nap during the day - probably won't happen; at least in my case it didn't.
- 2/5
Had to keep getting the keycard reprogrammed anytime we wanted to use it. Breakfast is good. Coffee was bad.
- 4/5
No complaints, room was clean.
- 5/5
Comfortable and clean. Nice breakfast too !
- 5/5
Parking was difficult with work going on. The pancake machine should be replaced by waffle maker, product is way better and not so synthetic tasting.
- 5/5
Great staff!

Dominic was wonderful at check in. He was so helpful and welcoming

Room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly! Stayed over Christmas and the place was great. The breakfast attendant was super friendly and kept the area well stocked and clean. The front desk agent was cheerful and helpful. Will definitely be back.
- 5/5
It was the perfect spot!
- 3/5
The hotel was very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bed was horribly uncomfortable. Room was freezing when we arrived and took several hours so get warm. Breakfast was acceptable.
- 4/5
The 3rd floor never stopped smelling like pot. Boo
- 5/5

Clean room breakfast was amazing
- 5/5
Front desk attendant very nice welcome and fast to get our room after a long drive, clean room, bathroom and beds very comfortable
- 1/5
A $25 charge was taken to secure the room charges. I bought one bottle of water and was charged the whole $25. I expect a full refund for having to chase this.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed my time at the Holiday Inn in Portland! The room was spotless, the bed was super comfortable, and the front desk staff was incredibly kind. I also loved that they offered on-site parking — such a relief when traveling. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
This a great location with friendly staff always willing to assist.
- 4/5
Great location, right on 23rd Street. We've stayed here about 5 times. This stay we had significant issues with noise. The first night two adults were screaming at each other in the next room for several hours late at night and the next night on the other side there were kids in the hallway and the adjacent room screaming and crying again, late into the evening. I know the staff have little recourse over guests, just wanted to bring up. I would suggest requesting a room away from the elevators also.
- 5/5
Overall it was a nice stay with family.
- 4/5
Clean room friendly staff
- 1/5
When I got to hotel I checked in and was given my keys and I got to room and someone was already staying in the room they gave me. I needed a room with roll in shower and apparently that was the only room that had that accessibility. I had to go elsewhere which was an issue at the last minute to find another hotel for that night.
- 5/5
The front desk employee when we checked in was so courteous. Very nice people that work there. The breakfast was substantial. The biscuits and gravy delicious. Also little omelettes. So yummy. I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice a Holiday Inn Express was. We would definitely stay here again
- 4/5
Nice hotel
- 5/5
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It was very conveniently located as well.
- 5/5
I enjoy staying at Holiday Inn Express for the breakfast amenity as it helps save on spending too much. This was my mom and I’s first time visiting Portland, OR. The area is nice and quiet 10min away from downtown. Parking is great, they have self parking which is free on top but once it gets filled you’ll have to park in the garage which is $20 a night. Overall great experience, will definitely be booking again!
- 5/5
It was close to some nice neighborhood food.
- 5/5

- 5/5

- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. We were close to freeway connections which was important because we were there for a family reunion. The breakfast food was really good! There was a large selection of fruit, yogurt, breads, etc. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
- 5/5
Staff were helpful and friendly. Property was a bit dated. Construction was happening down the hall which was disruptive at times
- 4/5
Hot tub good. Hard to find sit down american restaurant. All workers friendly. Breakfast was good.
- 5/5
Property location is ideal with many restaurants in walking distance.

Our vehicle was in the underground supposedly secured garage and it was broken into. Power station battery, camera and items stolen overnight. They did not charge me the $20 parking fee, but I have lost about $1K of pawnable stuff that I need to replace now.
- 5/5
Kind of a rough neighborhood
- 4/5
Downtown easily accessible by public transport; restaurants and cafes in NW district within walking distance. Clean and quiet.
- 5/5
Lovely, large room overlooking Fremont Bridge.
- 5/5
Great location right in Nob Hill, by 23rd Ave
- 5/5
Easy access
- 5/5
Very clean, everyone encountered was very nice. Breakfast was so convenient.
- 3/5
Staff were friendly. Construction happening in some rooms but I wasn’t bothered by that. (No loud noises, just kind of messy in some areas) I feel the pool and hot tub didn't appear as they looked online but it wasn’t that big of a deal to me. The breakfast included was decent too, and had different options each day. Coffee was good and served all day (freshly ground for each cup) Checking in and out was easy and I made reservations online. Room was clean, from top floor the view was decent too, considering their location .
- 3/5
Very nice stuff, but very wore out rooms and just seem like a lot of money for a room that smelled and faced a wall. This is property is in a commercial zone of warehouses.
- 5/5
Great service. The young lady I believe her name is Kayley? She was kind, helpful when I booked the wrong room.
- 5/5
Great Stay, Front desk very polite.
- 5/5
The hotel was nice and convenient. The only problem was the super slow elevator. I would stay there again
- 5/5

Always an easy check in. Comfortable rooms and the best breakfast options! The hot tub did not disappoint!
- 5/5
Staff was very kind and helpful.
- 5/5
Using the bus system was a bit tricky but other then that the area was wonderful. The pool was lovely and the workers were more then helpful.
- 5/5
Nice area and safe!
- 4/5
It’s convenient, good to walk around with a lot of shopping and donning places
- 4/5
Nice hotel right off the highway in a neighborhood with many dining options within a couple block radius.
- 4/5
Love the rooms, staff, breakfast, coffee and pool area. Just wish the pool could be warmer and the hot tub actually hot.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful, bathroom is a little dated, needs a new showerhead but it's ok. Breakfast was fine. But overall the beds, and rooms were solid. Area is great, access to just about everything. Great restaurants within walking distance. Easy on/off to the freeway as well.
- 5/5
Was a great mini vacation for our little family after going to a basketball game.
- 4/5
I like about this hotel is the easy access to highway and friendly staff.
- 5/5
It was very convenient
- 5/5
Nice place and close to OMSI.
- 4/5
Great location and friendly staff
- 4/5
The curtains of our room were not good condition and they were tear out.
- 4/5
Enjoyed our stay. Room was ready and clean- nice breakfast
- 5/5
It was a safe place to stay.
- 5/5
it was a nice to stay there.
- 5/5
Exceptional hotel
- 5/5
The kids loved the pool and the breakfast in the morning was great. Overall stay was great and we will be back the the next time we are in town.
- 5/5
The staff was extremely friendly. The pool and hot tub were clean the morning complementary breakfast was great conveniently located right off of the exit. Excellent place to stay.
- 3/5
The guest service rep was nice. The hotel could be cleaned better, the hot tub had a layer of scum around the rim right above the water line that could be scraped off and cleaned, our room was dirty, floors needed a good shampooing, lamp, tv remote, curtains are ripped etc, the bathroom was okay, the sheets had a stain. Our room was surrounded by kids so that was super annoying they kept going in and out of their room about 200 times and every time the door shut, the wall would shake and it was loud asf. I just blasted the TV so I couldn’t hear them and they shut up around 1030. Breakfast was okay, cinnamon rolls were good, the omelets have a weird cheese in them and it wasn’t melted so that was kind of gross lol. The location was good and the parking lot is nicely lit up and safe. Elevator slow asfff we took the stairs most the time. Anyways, overall it wasn’t bad but definitely not the cleanest holiday inn express, which is kind of surprising.
- 5/5
All the staff were very welcoming and friendly and always available to answer questions. Hotel was clean, comfortable, quiet, and safe. Decent free breakfast options. Loved the hot tub. Great quality place for the price. I will definitely consider staying again.
- 5/5
Good standard Holiday Inn Express with free parking in the city.
- 5/5
Friendly staff! Breakfast is great, however not refilled much after 9am so kinda slim pickins. So I give breakfast 3 stars ✨
- 5/5
The franchise should really investigate the parking at this property. I don't believe the free parking is up to code and should be marked for only compact vehicles. All others should be give free parking in the gated garage. Many people with larger vehicles double park leaving no space, and one of the front desk workers argued that we could still park there. If you go to this property, expect your midsize vehicles to be hit, as our rental was. Plan to pay $20-$25 per day to park, or go inside an beg the front desk for an entry pass, maybe you will get lucky. If travelling across country with a group of more than 4 luggage for several days, seriously consider budgeting for parking, or stay at another location.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Excellent choice and value for staying in Slabtown or near the hill, Japanese Garden and Rose Garden. Rooms are spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. Parking is simple enough although the spaces are quite "tight." Front desk staff was professional and kind.
- 5/5
Very nice
- 5/5
The staff was very nice and helpful with all our questions.
- 4/5
The hotel is in a quiet part of town, but close to both the bus and some great dining options. My son loved the breakfast each morning and everything was nice and clean. The hot tub and pool were also very nice. All in all a great experience
- 5/5
Área is okay but restaurants are expensive there is a jack in the box next to the hotel but the place inside is very dirty and smells nasty do not go to the place we have to drive all the way to Beaverton to eat which is around 20 minutes drive
- 4/5
The check in was quick and easy. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable.
- 4/5
Rooms clean breakfast was verygood
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and gave us some great options to get to Providence Park for a soccer .
- 4/5
No free parking
- 4/5
The AC unit makes noises.
- 5/5
Staff is really kind and helpful. Rooms clean and pool/hottube in great cindition
- 5/5
It was quite quiet. My kids had the pool and hot tub to themselves. Room was comfortable but a little cramped. Breakfast had lots of variety and very tasty
- 4/5
I liked the complimentary hot breakfast, fitness room, free cofffee (as well as hot water for tea) in the lobby 24/7, and friendly staff. I also liked that the hotel was close to the freeway, downtown Portland, and the Pearl District.
- 4/5
Enjoyed this stay. The only thing I would change is the bed is super hard and not comfortable at all. The elevator is also extremely slow. Other than that, breakfast has good options, the areas are clean, parking is easy and the staff are very nice.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Clean, good full breakfast. Gym is clean and functioning. Above all the staff are super helpful and friendly!
- 5/5
Helpful staff, good location, good value. Always grateful for their complimentary breakfast.
- 4/5
Clean friendly
- 4/5
The price is reasonable for our budget and hot breakfast is included. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The room is clean and spacious.
- 5/5
Great stay was there only 1 night but would come back. Down the street nice neighborhood restaurants. Lot of nice quaint drinking establishments as well. Overall very nice and away from the noise.
- 5/5
Staff was polite. Asked for extra towels and linen, staff walked it to our room. This was my family’s second time staying at this location. All staff that we encountered were very polite.
- 5/5
This is a nice property close to amenities.
- 2/5
The rooms were dirty and needed updating, curtains had nasty brown stains on them. Bathroom sink had large crack in it. There was only one person on duty after 6pm. I wanted towels sent to my room to shower after swimming but since there was one person on duty I was handed the towels to take to the pool with me then up to my room when I was done. The elevator is really slow and the first room I was put in was on the forth floor and the furthest from the elevator. The rooms fell clostraphobic with all the bulky furniture. I have never stayed at a holiday inn express this horrible. I stay in the Dalles and in Ontario Oregon and they are modern nice and clean. The shower at the Portland holiday in was the worst. There were many even any soaps or complementy toiletries. Will never stay there again.
- 5/5
Entire staff was great. All were kind and helpful. Room was spacious and clean.
- 4/5
Ok
- 5/5
The staff were more than helpful and kind. Breakfast was amazing! Location is great in Portland for dining, nightlife, and shopping. It was a great first visit to Portland.
- 5/5
The parking is great, especially for downtown, and the above-ground parking is free. The spaces are a little small, but there is available underground parking where the spaces are a bit bigger. The rooms are clean and the staff was quite courteous. Overall, it was a great stay. If I am in the area, I will be back.
- 3/5
Comfortable. Not the greatest part of town. Busy road so loud.
- 3/5
Convenient to 23rd street NW Portland where many restaurants, cafes, bars abound. Easy acess from freeways going north & south.
- 5/5
It was very close to an area full of restaurants and shops. Bus stop close by to go downtown, which isn't that far. A walk to several interesting areas.
- 5/5
The front desk staff was amazing! They were all friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The hotel was very clean and rooms were very comfortable. I would stay there again if I were in the area. I highly recommend this hotel. It is very close to many shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
The service was incredibly friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
This hotel is in a good spot. It has nice front desk staff. It needs the rooms to have an update. Breakfast is good. You need to park underground and then it is safer than most other hotels in the area. Great walking distance from many eateries and shops.
- 2/5
Mold clearly visible in all corners of the bathroom behind peeling materials on walls. Extreme rude guests next door made comments about my girlfriend's appearance and sexual comments about her body. Glad to know to never come back with that being the clientele this hotel attracts.
- 5/5
Pool and hot tub were not very clean.
- 5/5
My stay has been good and I like the location.
- 5/5
was a great experience
- 3/5
I was checked in the wrong room , opened the door and discovered some else’s luggage , luckily there was no one in the room. The staff checked in some one else under my name. Eventually I was given a different room. Also did not receive any housekeeping during the 3 night stay.
- 3/5
The room had a terrible oder.
- 2/5
The bed was very comfortable and the pool closes at 11, both were the positive parts of our stay. The staff were rude and complained that they are overworked. The breakfast was the same every day. Our room was never cleaned. The parking lot is very small. The allow unhoused people to do drugs at their entrance. And the elevator takes 5-10 minutes to get to the floor you are on, and no matter what, it's going to stop at the Lobby, even if no one pressed the button.
- 5/5
Nice staff
- 5/5

- 5/5
The hotel is amazing
- 4/5
I booked through Expedia for a total cost of $184.90 night. When I got my credit card statement I realized they charged me $184.90 plus tax. When I arrived the room door was propped open. After complaining to the front desk the desk clerk came up & checked the room & said he would comp snacks for my trouble. Charged for a bottle of water on bill. Hot tub was grungy - had a ring around from lots of use with no actual cleaning. Breakfast was good. Ok place but hold onto your wallet.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, comfortable hotel - convenient to our jobsite, and convenient walking distance to LOTS of good places to eat and drink.
- 3/5
The staff were very kind & helpful. The elevator did not work well & was really slow. Someone was smoking cigarettes in the stairway so the whole 2nd floor would smell terrible . Breakfast had a good amount of options & the pool was nice. Overall it was a decent place to stay for a good price.
- 5/5
Pool and hot tub, good breakfast
- 2/5
Pool area was less than clean.
- 5/5
Perfect for those who prefer a simple, clean room with a comfortable bed.

Excellent hotel, convenient parking and centrally located. Stopped in late for a quick overnight stay. Very accommodating and comfortable.
