Nothing because the hotel was shut down. That i did not have a room to stay in. I hated the fact that they let us book a room when the fucking hotel was shut down..
- 5/5
The staff was friendly. Checking in was a breeze. The room was comfortable and lovely. The location was perfect for the Moda Center, just a 5 minute walk to and from there and a bus stop just across the street. Would stay here again. It was cold in the room at night (could just been the time of year, early March).

The hotel was boarded up and surrounded by a fence and locked. Had to stay elsewhere obviously.

This property is boarded up and surrounded by chain link fence. Booked through expedia for a room that doesn't exist. Forced to book another hotel out of my own pocket that night. I was scammed.

This property was not open and I was unable to check in. Seems to be permanently closed.

We checked in at 430p and were told it was the last room. Room was on the first floor. As soon as my teenage son and I walked in, we noticed the window was open. Go to shut it, and notice there is a stick in the window. When I shut the window, saw there is no lock. We did not stay they night

The room is decent and matches the price. The accommodations are simple, but the room was overall clean and tidy, and so were the towels and bed sheets and blankets. It is very convenient for a short stay if you do not require that much comfort.

- 4/5
Room was clean and comfortable. The hotel itself needs some work.
- 1/5
They gave me the wrong room then when we got a new room it was so small . Tv sucks bed has stains . The bathroom was bigger than the rest of the room . Definitely do not recommend this place .
- 1/5
Furthermore, the overall condition of the room and hotel appeared noticeably old and outdated, with visible signs of wear that detracted from the overall guest experience. Most concerning was the state of the bathroom: the toilet had clearly not been cleaned, indicating a serious lapse in housekeeping procedures. These issues collectively created an uncomfortable and unsatisfactory environment, far below the expectations for a properly maintained accommodation.
- 2/5
The entire property is neglected. It felt like walking the halls of a substandard assisted living center - complete with the smell of musty urine. The room had nicks and dings that made it look like a work in progress, or slated for reconstruction, not something OYO should be pleased with having in their collection.
- 3/5
The bed was comfortable and the bedding was good quality. The rest of the room was in need of replacement. We had to squeeze past people actively smoking meth to access the room.It did not feel safe to go out at night.
- 2/5
The hotel accomplished what we needed it for - a place to sleep. However, the lobby staff was not the most helpful. They didn't give us any information about walking our dog and expected us to know the use the unmarked side doors at all times. The room was not updated and the AC was leaking all over the floor. And the floor was carpeted.
- 3/5
Room condition was not ideal, but overall a great budget option close to the Moda Center
- 2/5
Although extremely close to the Moda Center and had free parking, those were the only perks! The carpet was stained, the AC looked like it was on its last leg, the Fire alarm was hanging off the wall and the “comforter” had rips in it. Not to mention the sheets looked like it had old mold stains on it. Luckily we only stayed night as I would not have stayed another. The gentleman behind the reception desk was friendly.
- 2/5
Rooms run down, furniture belongs in a dumpster. I reserved a room for a parking space and restroom. I was attending a concert at nearby Moda center. I wouldn't have stayed overnight here, it didn't feel safe.
- 1/5
There were live roaches in my room. I went to the front desk and asked for a new room, or a refund, and the front desk employee did not seem surprised. Disgusting!
- 3/5
Very out dated place was falling apart in areas
- 5/5
Short and sweet
- 1/5
I understand that this is a downtown motel so i wasnt expecting the Ritz Carlton, but when your motel room has hotels for roaches exposed because the mini fridge was already pulled out...i turned the lights on and attempted to return the already pulled out fridge. Lets just say it was like a scene from a rave busted by the police. Roaches darting everywhere.
- 1/5
We did not stay. Our room had cockroaches. I would like my money back
- 1/5
Won’t be staying again.
- 2/5
Bed where comfortable, but carpet was stained and dirty. Area around property alot of homeless, ice machine broken vending machines empty. I payed 80 a night but feel it was over priced, also it's sign says shilo in but it's a OYO.
- 2/5
Run down , not very clean in room. Or property
- 2/5
The beds were okay. Good place to sleep if just for the night
- 1/5
We didn't stay here because it smelled like cigarette smoke and we saw a blood stain on the shower curtain. I talked to the manager and he said we could get a refund, but had to work through Expedia. Expedia tried countless times to contact the property but was unable to process the refund. So we are disputing the charge with our credit card company.
- 1/5
What was advertised was NOT AT ALL what I got. The hotel claimed it had a fridge in unit, there was none. It claimed it was a non-smoking room, but the room smelled like smoke - as did the whole hotel. The floor had a huge chunk missing out of the laminate flooring planks that was so bad it exposed the floor support joists. The AC didn't work about half of the 6 days I was there. So to pay over 550$ for 7 days was far too much for a hotel room that was barely one step above a Honey Bucket.
- 1/5
Blood stains from what appeared to be bed bugs and boot prints on the sheets. Tried moving rooms, second room same issues. Was given new sheets to put on the bed and I ended up using a piece of plastic as a prophylactic.
- 5/5
Very solid older motel. Thick walls not any city noise. Some items in the room, while they worked could use a little TLC
- 1/5
This is not a place I would recommend to anyone. It is clearly being used as temporary living. The hallway carpets are discussing and the musty oder permeates the air as soon as you walk in. The building has potential with large rooms but so poorly kept. The room we stayed in had filthy floors, no towels, a whole bunch of counter space for no reason with an old ragged computer chair. You couldn’t open the window because there was no screen and the neighbor hood is seriously questionable with men smoking crack in cars outside and a whole lot of late night activities surrounding the building. The bed was comfortable enough with clean sheets. The remote was sticky. The smell in the room was so horrible I had to burn incense to mask it. I couldn’t fall asleep because there was a bug that looked like a roach in the bathroom and another one dead on the floor, and where there is one there are more. The worst part is that I had reserved for 3 nights but immediately contacted customer service about cancelling the remaining nights and getting a refund. Unfortunately I have not received a refund yet because Expedia hasn’t been able to contact the property management to confirm that I didn’t stay the extra nights. This place is horrible and it needs to be gutted and remodeled completely.
- 4/5
Old shilo inn. Needs renovations
- 3/5
From the moment I checked in, this hotel had a very low-end feel. My room was not clean, and the general atmosphere was uncomfortable. The surrounding area is filled with homeless encampments, which made me feel uneasy, especially as a solo traveler. Even worse, the window in my first-floor room didn’t lock, raising serious safety concerns. I asked to see other rooms, but all three that I was shown smelled strongly of marijuana. Overall, this was a very unpleasant stay, and I would not recommend this property.
- 2/5
Place was dirty and damaged. Hole in bathroom door, stains on the wall, trash all around hotel.
- 1/5
Arrived at the location to find beat up cars, a couple with flat tires, a stack of old tires in the flower bed and the reception on area was locked. We were NOT able to check in at 4pm and as we had a tight schedule to keep we left the hotel and went somewhere else. Currently fighting to make sure I am not charged for the stay since we could not check in.
- 3/5
Cons: Front desk service has restricted hours and the place smells of cigarettes. Photos on Hotels.com are outdated and present a brighter, cleaner facility. Towel rack above toilet was missing so the clean bath towels were left on top of the toilet tank which felt dirty. Dumpster was overflowing with trash into walkway to enter building. Unfortunately I would probably not stay here again.
- 5/5
Very great staff
- 2/5
The white sheets were covered in brown and yellow stains. There were homeless people sleeping right outside the windows and back door. The furniture is extremely old, scratched, or falling apart. And there were no mini refrigerators.
- 1/5
Lobby was locked certain times of the day. Hall and rooms smelt like weed. Pulling into the parking lot was red flags. This hotel isn’t worth a $100 a night.
- 2/5
Smelled like poop or sewage as soon as we arrived.
- 3/5
It was good
- 3/5
Having said all this, they have free parking, decent coffee pods, microwaves, & refrigerator. Most importantly, the proximity to Unity was priceless. You can always have a mocha or latte across the street at the fancy hotel for a change of scenery.
- 2/5
The entire hotel smelled aweful, the carpets were torn and there was a bug in our room.
- 4/5
It was a pleasant stay i was in Portland for medical reasons The only problem i had Friday morning was i couldn't get out front door to catch my cab for surgery it was locked the lobby door was unlocked but not front door and no security guy to lett me out had to go all the way around to get out with my wheelchair Saturday i called the desk at 915 and no one would answer I will stay therr again in Jan because i have madical appts again
- 1/5
There was nothing to like about the property. Everything was filthy, the staff was unhelpful, unresponsive, inexcusably rude and when we reported abhorrent conditions like a toilet that would not flush, dirty disgusting lingerie in the dresser, stains all over the carpet, banged up and scratched furniture and a fan that sounded like a 747 was landing in our bathroom, a employee brought a plunger to the door with dried toilet paper and poop all over it in a bag tied around it and reached in the door to hand it to my husband. I said “You need to fix that please.” He responded “It’s not my job.” I said “Well it’s not our job, we are on vacation and paying customers here, we are not here to repair your toilet.” He replied “I am just a house keeper, not in maintenance.” We called down to report it again and they said they did not gave anyone to fix it. My husband plunged it and got it fixed but they did not remove the dirty disgusting lingerie out of the dresser as they said they would when housekeeping came that night when we were gone and they removed the plunger and the toilet once again clogged later that night. We had to cancel our reservation for the rest of the trip and contact Shilo Inns corporate offices to get a refund for our stay and premium prices to stay somewhere else at the last minute! Trust me the outside conditions were worse than the inside, you do not want to stay there, ever!!!!!!!
- 1/5
Terrible place to stay, run down dirty with not so great characters hanging around.
- 3/5
My granddaughter couldn’t sleep with some noise that was happening out in the hall or next to our room. The tub also had a couple of weird stain spots that she wouldn’t take a bath or shower.
- 2/5
It was pretty smelly and the halls and lobby were dirty.
- 5/5
Cozy and comfortable. It's definitely an older building but for the price and convenience of location it was great. All staff were helpful and mindful and it was an easy stay. We brought our dog as well with no issues.
- 5/5
They treated our friends well here.
- 3/5
The room has a weird odor. Older room.
- 1/5
this was awful. Our 1st room smelled like urine, they switched us to the only other available room. But it was not made up when we got there and had to wait 20 minutes in the lobby while they cleaned it. That room was musky/smelly most of the time. The AC unit leaked everywhere.
- 3/5
Upgrade the beds.
- 1/5
They did not have any amenities,no ice machines. Room service never came to clean even when I asked. It's dirty and dingu.Ill never stay again at a Shilo
- 2/5
Yeah I messed up getting this reservation smelled like cigarettes were smoked throughly through the building and dont get me started about the homeless camp out back this place really needs help...
- 3/5
the beds had stains as if they didn't clean the sheets or pillow cases and the king bed was so worn out it felt like there was a hole in the bed, other than that it was nice
- 2/5
They never came to clean my room, the TV was stuck on one channel and had no remote. They gave me a replacement remote but it was incompatible with my TV. The towels were tiny.
- 5/5
I forgot my phone charger and the front desk person loaned me one. Room and bath were clean.
- 2/5
The floor was so gross I couldn't take my socks off. Bed was comfy. Homeless people all around. Good location. Would go back if I needed such a cheap room ever again.
- 5/5
It is nice for a one night stay but just know alot of things need to be updated and repaired and need a lot more thorough cleaning.
- 2/5
The photos listed were from 9 years ago and while it lists this on the picture there has been no upkeep since then. There were broken down cars in the parking lot even.
- 1/5
Maid service that never came and cleaned the room even after front desk request. Dirty and dingy room and hallways. Terrible experience overall.
- 1/5
It was so run down. Stains on bedding lamp, chairs hallway basucally everywhere you looked. Toilet wouldn't flush unless you pushed super hard held it down. Only good thing about it was it was walking distance to Moda but the hotel itself is absolutely Bates hotel
- 1/5
This hotel was dirty and outdated. There were people smoking crack in the parking lot and a group of homeless people across the street at the 7-11 who created a large mess with garbage and their belongings. I felt filthy the moment I got there. Close to Moda which was nice (we stayed for a concert), but that was the only good thing to say about this dump. Not suitable for children, for sure!!!! Very creepy. Won’t be returning.
- 2/5
as far as it goes it was a 2 star hotel (very much so) kind of run down the carpets were stained and gross, when i saw a cockroach climbing up my coffee cup i was less than pleased. went home and fumigated all my clothes and suitcases.
- 1/5
Towels stained, hair on linens, lights bulbs out/missing (both rooms), carpet moist in fist and second room. First room heater smelled like chemicals had been cooked in it. Staff quickly changed us to new room, very kind but not much better.

Guy at checkin was rude, didnt even tell how to enter the building to access room after lobby closed knowing i had stated we were going straight to a concert. Upon arrivung back at 12:30 am we had to walk around the building in the dark trying to find our way in while homeless druggies followed us around. Once we got to the room it smelled and didn't seem very clean. When checking out morning guys was snippy i wanted the room checked to make sure i got deposit refunded after being treated so poorly. We almost decided to just drive the 2 hrs home in the middle of the night it was so uncomfortable and we were so unhappy with the whole experience but knew we'd never get a penny back. OH and the room had no smoke alarm or anything.
- 2/5
Smell of mold and cigarettes. Service guy was just demanding.
- 2/5
We were told that taxes and fees were included. They were not. We paid an additional 20 dollars in taxes and fees upon check in. This is not the first time. It is really annoying
- 1/5
The staff was disinterested if anything. Not necessarily rude…. There were drug addicts sleeping in the parking lot. The entire hotel smelled terribly of cigarettes. The only reason my wife and I stayed is because we paid over $125 per night and could not cancel and get a refund when we got there. We were in town from out of state for a concert. We weren’t looking for 5 star or anything, but what we got was less than ideal. There was mold in the bathroom and the room smelled terrible.
- 3/5
Customer service could be a bit better but not because it was bad, just indifferent
- 3/5
i hated that you had to go to the front and constantly ask the guy for towels. i thought is was quite gutsy and sad to ask for tips in the room when you provided no service for my room. you fifnt empty the garbage, you didnt bring me towels, you did nothing and you asked for a tip. but it is cheap and convenient so its worth the money if you just want a bed to crash in.
- 4/5
Bed was comfortable. Room was filthy and pretty broken down. This was not a typical Shilo experience. It was very affordable for the area. One staff was friendly the other was not.
- 2/5
Tough location, lots of vagrants. Parking was easy. Very run down. The carpet in our room was horribly stained. More concerning was serious mold growth on the heating/cooling device and some weird item stuck on the room sprinkler. Grossed out but slept reasonably well on a decent bed and it was thankfully quiet.
- 1/5
We checked in and went to our room and left 20 minutes later. There was alot of homeless around and they didn’t seem to have an elevator so we couldn’t bring my moms oxygen up or our luggage as we can’t lift heavy items .. the smell was gross in the building and there was a broke down car outside in the parking lot mctweekin on the car tires .. so long story short I wasted money and just drive home at night.
- 1/5
Not worth it!
- 3/5
It was in a interesting location and very good transportation area from taxis and buses. The only downside is the terrible smell when you are walking up to the room. And the carpet in the room has alot of huge stains which they should try deep cleaning them with a carpet cleaner machine, the iron board had a huge red stain on it which i hope was because of a shirt, bathroom curtain was a bit dirty but the bed looked clean but for a one night trip that is all i can say. If you do stay here i recommend bringing your own cleaning supplies.
- 4/5
10 minute or less walk to the Moda Center, only stayed 1 night. Had AC which was nice during our stay as it was mid-80 degree weather. Bathroom and bed was nice and clean, only issue was there was minor stains in the towel but staff was very helpful and brought a new one.
- 2/5
Needs a lot of updates. Smells of cigarette smoke
- 2/5
Very visible stains on the dirty, outdated carpet. Outlets near the sink didn't work. Only available outlets for hairdryer and accessories were behind tv. Very inconvenient. Needs a lot of updating.
- 5/5
It was great
- 2/5
Hard to believe that Shilo would still claim this property. Shilo used to be a good choice - but definately NOT this one. Stay well away unless you like dirty walls, floors, and towels.
- 3/5
Pretty neutral
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 2/5
Read the other reviews. The hallways not only smell like weed but other things as well. Toilet didn’t flush well. Carpet dirty in room and hallway. Non useable vehicles in the parking lot. The list goes on and on. Hope you get a great rate, you’ll need it.
- 1/5
Do not recommend. Furniture is worn and scratched up. Towels are old and paper thin. Guests are super sketchy.
- 1/5
Would not answer phone calls; would not answer door bell when we arrived late (locked office); gave lame excuses for complaints and threatened to respond by not signing us in. Also, computer was down so he had to keep our credit card over night. Ultimately he partially compensated for our inconveniences by waiving our parking fee and deposit.
- 3/5
Decent for the price but would not return the entrances are contaminated with the oder of cigarettes and the room was in decent condition does require updates and carried an aroma of consistent moisture
- 1/5
We did not stay in this property , when we saw the room it was terrible ,when you enter to the building the bad smell of smoke in all the hallway and room. It was too nasty and horrible , the guy in the front desk it was so rude and bad attitude. The toilet was broken and lot at homeless around the property. So disappointing. Totally NOT RECOMMENDED.
- 1/5
dirty
- 2/5
Hallways smelled like smoke. Our room smelled like pickles
- 3/5
Friendly staff, room smelled, was asked to enter through the back door which smelled like pee.
- 4/5
Conducive environment to stay in
- 3/5
Very dirty carpet and smelly probably from the carpet
- 2/5
Bad thing was anyone entering or leaving their room created a suction that slammed my door each time causing me to wake up numerous times throughout the night. I should have done more research.
- 3/5
There is nothing wrong with this hotel, it was exactly what I wanted. Big room, functional refrigerator, privacy, safety, clean comfortable bed. The bed was well maintained. NO bugs.
- 1/5
This entire property smelled like cigarettes and like something passed away in the walls. I bought room deodorizer to try to make the room work but the smell was so strong i had to sleep in an n95 mask. The sheets were stained and dirty in 2 diffeerent rooms and the AC was broken in one. Honestly this place should be closed and renovated/cleaned. Every surface was dirty, worn and stained. I cannot reccomend this lodging to anyone.
- 4/5
Nice and quite place to spent a night, also clean environment
- 1/5
Property was horrible, the room smelled of animal urine, asked for another room and was denied.
- 4/5
It was perfect for the price
- 1/5
I literally left that place cleaner than I found it and they kept half of my deposit for reasons unknown. But I will never set foot there again so I’m not gonna bother calling to ask. Hopefully they use it towards replacing the nasty carpet.

Just walking down the hallway, you can tell most, if not all, rooms have been actively smoked in. If you have an aversion to cigarette smoke, you would have tapped out before even getting to your room. Believe it or not, the stench of cigarette smoke was the least offensive part of the experience. Upon entry to our room, I was smacked in the face by an incredibly offensive smell - likely coming from the air conditioner - that was clearly intended to hide an even more atrocious smell. I immediately got a headache and had to attempt to stick my head out the window for fresh air - only to discover the windows only open about 5 inches. The general ambiance of the room was that of a dive hotel from the 70's where hookers brought their johns or where serial killers brought their victims. Aside from the dingy and damaged furniture, there was an obvious blood stain on the carpet, amongst several other suspicious and unidentifiable stains, varying in size and a large stain on the chair. It was so gross I refused to take my shoes off.. we ended up leaving in the middle of the night because between the stains, the smells and the overall creepy energy, we certainly weren't going to be sleeping. My advice would be to save your 70 bucks and sleep on the side of the road instead. It'll feel like an upgrade.
- 2/5
Night staff was extremely curt and unprofessional. Threatened to ban me for "being rude" when he was doing all the yelling and taking personally my feedback to his demeanor. Totally inexcusable and disrespectful. He needs to be counselled if I'm ever giving that Shilo Inn another chance.
- 4/5
It's an ok reasonable priced motel
- 1/5
I can’t really say if I like the property or not I didn’t stay. We had a family emergency.
- 2/5
Our first room didn’t have a smoke detector or working phone. Got changed to different room. This motel is very our dated and air conditioner was dirty and missing vent cover.
- 5/5
Close to where I needed to go
- 2/5
Poorly kept rooms, no dining/breakfast, understaffed, lots of homeless in the area
