Sam was very accommodating. Parking great, pool outside my room and clean room.

Clean rooms, quiet, updated, pool, outside sitting area. Our host sam was very knowledgeable of the area and showed us how everything worked in the room and was very helpful. I will definitely stay here again. The next time im in town.

The location is great. The room was immaculate, full kitchen and the staff was exceptional!! We will definitely book again next year.

1)Pool was filthy. Pool maintenance guy told us not to use it the day we were there. He stated it had high algae content. Manager claimed we could still use it while scraping stuff off the bottom. Very disappointing as having a pool was a key reason we rented this place. 2)We had to take a cold shower because manager did not tell us we had to turn on sink faucet to get water hot. All other faucets are slow getting hot. The place is located in a quiet neighborhood. Important to note that the walk to the beach is further than advertised. On the map it looks like you can get to the beach easily. You cannot walk across the main street to to the beach as access is private there. This is an older place but the rooms are clean. In fairness, the manager was a nice guy. He gave us a couple chairs to use at the beach. I was quite surprised he was not willing to make some kind of concession for these serious concerns. In light of these concerns, we overpaid.

The owner was a very nice gentleman. The light in the kitchen was flickering on and off the shower in the bathroom handle could not control the shower and needed to be adjusted or replaced, the heater that was provided for us barely heated the room enough.

The host was very accommodating and helpful. He made us feel welcome like we were a guest in his home. Also very surprised at the quality of Pompano Beach in general. There is construction in the area.

We only stayed one night and didn’t use the pool so can’t say anything about it although the pool and area around it seems very clean. Sam at the front test very friendly and helpful . It was a kitchenette with everything included. Would be a great little place to stay for a few days or weeks. Walking distance to Pompano beach. Very quiet area , plenty of free parking.

The room was very clean, had everything you need, full stove, good size refrigerator and freezer. The on-site manager Sam is extremely helpful and wants to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

It was a great weekend! We spent good time in Pembroke and the host was very friendly and gave us great tip of restaurants and places to go. It’s a small business very close to the beach.

The owner was very pleasant and very welcoming. He showed us everything about the room and pool and gave us great suggestions on what to do in the area.

Sam was great and communicative. Very simple and clean room. Nice Mom and Pop vibe. Would much rather give them my money than a nameless multi-Natl corporation. Cute pool and sweet old people on their stoops hanging out.

Very nice little old Florida style place

The owner was very nice and gave us helpful pointers to restaurants around the area.

All we needed was a clean, convenient place to stay for a night and this place was great!. Very affordable, simple, clean and close to the beach (2-3 blocks, 3-4 block from the pier). Would definitely consider staying longer if coming back to this area. Great management and very friendly and PERSONAL!

Very friendly host gave us a tour of the property and room. We were only able to stay for one night, but would definately return for a longer stay!

But what makes staying here is the owner Sam. What a great guy! He bends over backwards to welcome you and provide whatever you need. Will never stay anywhere else when traveling to the area.

Came here on a last minute business trip…will definitely always stay here for all future trips to Pomapano Beach area.

My wife and I stayed an overnight weekend visit and really enjoyed it. The rooms have been renovated, new floor, new furniture, small kitchen, new tile and doors in the bathroom. The location is great. Only walking distance to the beach and some great places to eat. Check in is made great by a great person to talk to. Sam the manager is an easy going person to deal with and a very positive attitude. He showed us to the room and made sure that the door locks were working and he greeted us and everyone else that was staying there by name. Very positive place. The only negative I can think of was the AC unit. I'm not sure if I didn't turn it on correctly or what but the room did not feel as cold as it should have. It still worked which was good. I would definitely stay here again.

It’s old Florida, which we love. The owner Sam, was the perfect host. He treated us like family. You’re a five minute walk to the beach where you can enjoy a meal over looking the ocean or a drink at the tiki bar. We only stayed the one night as we were booked for a cruise the next day and we’ll be staying here again next year. We couldn’t be happier and would recommend this little piece of Florida to anyone.

Very enjoyable stay.

Sam, the owner, was fabulous. You can tell that he cares about his guests very much. He took the time to go through the unit and point out everything that you would need to know. Unit was very clean and you could tell that he has been doing improvements on the place. Very pleasant stay.

Just as advertised. Sam made our check-in very easy when arriving late, and he was very helpful with recommendations (Ask him about Ride Circuit ride share.) and checking out. If you like unpretentious, Pelican is the place for you!

Excellent experience

What a diamond in the rough. The cost was a great value for this day. Very clean, comfortable beds all you need for a comfortable stay. We will definitely return and appreciate the friendliness of the staff. It made you feel like you were at home. Within walking distance to the pier and many really great restaurants! It won’t be on meeting our expectations!

It's not the Ritz Carlton but if you want a clean and quiet place to stay near the beach and easy access to what tourists usually look for, this might be for you. My wife and I had no complaints.

Sam, the owner / manager on site was great. 2 blocks from the beach, reasonably priced for this crazy time.

We stayed in a deluxe studio apartment, which was perfect for our family of four for one night, although it might have felt a bit cramped for a longer stay. The apartment was clean and very much as expected from the photos, the beds were comfy and the bathroom had everything we needed. We didn't use the kitchen amenities but it all looked clean and serviceable. The owner/manager, Sam, communicated promptly and in a friendly manner by email before our stay and it was lovely to meet him in person while we were onsite. There was plenty of parking and the location was perfect, just a short walk from the beach. We were very happy with our stay at Pelican By The Sea!

Staff was warm, welcoming, and helpful. Always willing to help with a big smile and got tasks done immediately. I liked that the building was smaller with a family friendly atmosphere. The bed was comfortable and we had a good sleep. Tiled floors were clean, no bad carpet odours to deal with. Kitchen equipment and utensils were simple but did the job. Area was quiet in the night and safe. Beach was within walking distance. Great to have a full sized fridge.

Long review: I always read reviews before booking a place and felt compelled to book here given how many amazing reviews it got. In no way was I disappointed. Sam is one of the most hospital and generous stay owners I have ever met. He showed us around and gave us a 5 star experience. The location is perfect - walking distance from the beach and from restaurants. Really quiet and has all you really need. I would choose to stay here again and anytime im in town. I always get apprehensive about “motels” because they have questionable customer service at times, but not the case here. If you are hesitating, book it and I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Great little motel right in the heart of everything. Easy walk to the beach or restaurants. My room was very clean with new beds, new tile floors and updated bathroom. Neat kitchenette with stove and refrigerator just the right size along with the basics needed to prepare simple meals to save a few bucks or just for convenience. Simple decor and older building; however, well maintained. Nice heated pool and deck area to relax by. Sam is very kind and friendly and genuinely wants to make your stay pleasant. I traveled alone and felt safe coming and going and even swimming late night. I will stay there again.

Friendly management. Access to beach is a half block away, just across the street. We’ll be back.

This was a great find. Saw good reviews and took a flyer on this place. The owners are on site and the nicest, most friendly people around. Came out and greeted us at the car and came out to the car to say goodbye. Good location and extremely clean rooms. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but I will be staying there the next time I am in Pompano Beach and every time after that.

The room was nice and clean loved being a tile floor not rugs as most hotels/motels do. Even though didnt go to the beach nice it was close.

We absolutely loved staying at this little motel. It was very clean and conveniently located. There is beach access just a couple minute’s walk down the road. There are several wonderful restaurants within walking distance as well. What really made our trip though was the service. Sam was an incredible host and made sure we had everything we needed and then some. He went out of his way to make our vacation as enjoyable as possible. We would absolutely stay here again, no question!

The place is very cozy and calm , near everything you want, I can’t wait to go again, love it.

Clearly it's a motel, so not fancy. But the rooms have been updated and include a functional kitchen. I don't spend much time in my room when I travel, so clean, safe, functional and most of all LOCATION are priorities. Also, Sam is the owner and treats even one night guests like me as a friend and he cares about the experience of his new friends. Would certainly stay again if I'm in the area again.

The location wasn't bad; only a few blocks from the beach. The owner stated several upgrades in the last year (bed, shower, flooring) but they must have not spent much on the bed because it is worn out. The grout in the flooring needs cleaned. Things overall have been done on-the-cheap. Keep looking.

Everything was very clean. Nice shower. Bed was very comfortable. Very well located on walking distance from some places around. Sam pay attention to the customers by doing follow ups. I appreciate that.

The room was spotless, recently redone, and well stocked with towels and amenities. It had a kitchen which we didn't need but it was in perfect condition. The location is convenient to the beach and the new Pompano Pier.

accommodating owner/managers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Old fashioned comfort within walking distance to the beach(3-5 minutes). It will definitely be a return visit.

Sam was amazing! Very friendly and helped us in our room. He took the time to show us the amenities from using the door key pad, where everything was in the room and how to use all the remotes. It’s not the Marriott or Four Seasons, but it’s quaint with nostalgic charm. I would most definitely return and stay at The Pelican by the Sea.

It was an old hotel that has been tiled and is very clean. Run obviously by a man who is very nice but clueless as to what a traveler needs. Absolutely no place to set anything down in the bathroom!! No shelf for toothbrush, hairdryer, makeup or anything. Not even towel racks for towels! No place to hang your wet wash cloth or a hand towel. Towels were kept outside the bathroom in a closet. Only a couple electric outlets in the entire suite. A window air conditioner that was very loud. Bed was ok. Wouldn’t stay there again as it was inconvenient. Ok location.

I was in Pompano Beach overnight for a wedding. Sam was wonderful to get my room ready a little early so I could use it to change first. This would be great place to spend a few quiet days near the beach. It is a bit of a throwback to an earlier type of Florida beach vacation. The only drawback was that there were not many restaurants within walking distance but several were just a short drive away. If you are a self-caterer, the kitchen seemed pretty well outfitted as well. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a no frills, honest to goodness, hotel in a safe neighborhood with good parking. It is excellent value for money in an area where rental charges are often excessively high. Sam, the owner is always on site and is passionate about looking after his guests and keeping the rooms serviced. One of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. I selected the Pelican because I read the previous excellent reviews and the helpfulness of the owner Sam. They all proved to be perfectly true. Will certainly stay there again when next in Pompano Beach. The WiFi was very fast!

The bathroom needs towel racks & better lighting. TV installation was very amature & placed way too high. .

Came south to visit a friend. Weather was amazing. Great spot with nearby access to everything. Owner supplied us with backpak beach chairs & umbrella. No views but clean neat efficiency type room. Owner beyond willing & friendly to be sure our stay was great. We needed to checkin after hours and he even gave us his cell# ‘just in case’

This is a basic ~1970's motel type property that has been updated with porcelain/marble type tile floors , a tile and glass bathroom and a nice kitchenette with a small stove/oven and microwave and basic dishes. It's not a high end property with luxury accommodations, but it does offer very nice, basic accommodations that are clean, well kept and modern. The pool was sparkling and 84 degrees and the beach is a 5 minute walk away. If you want luxury, full hotel service beach-front, go stay there and pay $300+ a night. If you want a nice quiet place that is super clean and minutes walk from the beach, with a great host named Sam, then this is your place. This is one of the best values I've ever found while traveling and hopefully will be a permanent stop for me in the future. I like Mom and Pop real people places and this is it!

Highly recommend!! Pelican by the sea is located on a quiet side street with plenty of parking. The pool area is a lovely peaceful place to sit! Walking distance to the beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable and Sam is always available and willing to answer any questions! We will be back!

No surprises. Exactly what we expected and Sam was fabulous and informative. Gave great recommendations for local restaurants and really cares about his guests. It isn't fancy, but clean ,comfortable and quiet. It was nice having a small kitchenette. If we return to this area, we'll stay again.
