The hotel is highly praised for its friendly staff, delicious breakfast, and wine and cheese hour. It is also appreciated for its tasteful decoration, comfortable rooms, and convenient location near the airport and the beach. However, some guests have complained about the lack of a refrigerator in the room, the noise from the street, and the quality of the cleaning.

I honestly cannot recommend the Inn at Playa del Rey highly enough. From the moment I arrived, it felt less like checking into a hotel and more like being welcomed into a beautiful home away from home. As a solo mum travelling with a little one, the kindness and warmth from the staff meant the world. Every single person was exceptionally caring, supportive and genuinely lovely. That family feel is what makes this place so incredibly special and completely different from a standard hotel experience. The room was honestly one of the nicest I’ve ever stayed in. I had the most beautiful balcony view overlooking the marshlands by the Ballona Wetlands near Playa del Rey beach, with birds and wildlife everywhere. It felt peaceful, calming and completely removed from the chaos of travel. The bed was absolute heaven — a stunning four-poster bed with the cosiest blankets and huge squishy pillows that made it incredibly hard to leave in the morning. And the bathroom… wow. The huge tub felt more like a private spa or hot tub, and I ended up having two long baths during my overnight stay simply because it was so wonderfully relaxing. Breakfast was also absolutely delicious, with beautiful fresh strawberries, bagels, hot drinks and everything presented so thoughtfully and beautifully. The location is also perfect for anyone needing an airport stopover. It’s only around 20 minutes

I loved this place and will come back. We had a large room facing the wetlands, clean with everything you need including a small refrigerator. The staff were pleasant and provided all information requested. Then was the breakfast, I had a soufflé with gluten free toast with fresh orange juice. One of the best breakfast I had in a hotel. My husband love the arugula with eggs made to order. All delicious and unexpected! The wine hour was also a nice surprise!

My stay at the Inn was excellent. Room was clean, quiet, and spacious and staff were friendly and professional. The included breakfast had a good variety of fresh fruits, breads, granola and the cooked to order eggs were delicious. The property had beautiful views of the wetlands and was a great opportunity for birdwatchers. Especially loved the dining room porch views! Would stay here again.

This was our second time staying at Playa del Rey. Rooms are very clean, bed very comfortable, shower nice and hot, A/C was perfect. Morning breakfasts were extremely good with various things to choose. Als offered to cook eggs or omelets if you ask as well as the daily suffles. Yummy fruit bowls, plain yogurt, a different salad each morning, plenty of breads and bagels, homemade granola, coffee, tea and pastries. At 5pm each evening they offer wine and cheeses and fruit in their living room area. We'll definitely be back again. Highly recommend. On site parking a plus.

Room was big and comfortable, common area includes a lovely "family room" with couches, chairs, tables, a fireplace and some great books with view of wetlands and this was location of a wonderfully well curated happy hour of wine and charcuterie, dining area in adjacent space also had view of wetlands and a deck where you could sit and eat. There are numerous great dining spots and the beach within walking distance

The rooms are large and well designed, there is a field and birds in front of the hotel (national reserver), wine&cheese every afternoon, great service, good value, stuff is very friendly and helpful, good breakfast, charming lobby with space to chill and read. Short drive to surfing beach! Some of the rooms are a bit noisy due to proximity to the road (closing the windows helps).

Have stayed many times at the Inn over the years, but it has changed! Rooms are okay but could not get the heat to regulate correctly so we were either cold or hot the entire stay. No longer cookies baking nor in your room at checkin with that nice note welcoming us back. Breakfast is ok. Gone are the coffee cake and soufflé. Always liked the leftovers with coffee in the afternoon. Wine and cheese was alright. Got better the second night. A bit more cheese and even some salami. Only wine. No water or tea. Overall it is a fine place but the charm is gone. It always felt like someone’s home. Now it is just another hotel. Expensive for the value. Said good bye to this place. Will stay somewhere else .

I loved everything about The Inn at Playa del Rey. The room was great. The water pressure for the shower was excellent! Something I value when I stay anywhere. The bathroom was bigger than expected. Had 2 sinks. Even the view to the street was cool. It faced the streets but also the mountains and you could see way far. Breakfast was excellent every morning. Absolutely loved the arugula parm salad. The wine hour from 5-6 was a really cool amenity too! I. Thinking of coming back to this area just to stay here again. Loved it!

I like the location and the friendliness of staff. While I do like staying here, I think this last visit will be my last. This place is in need of a renovation. I saw what seemed to be signs of a renovation a couple of months ago, but none of the rooms I have stayed in have been renovated. While this place can get away with being charming (and a great location), at some point they need to bite the bullet and renovate...especially the bathrooms. The layouts are terrible, doors hit each other, the exhaust fans are incredibly loud, there were signs of mold in the shower ceiling. I am usually out of the hotel before the breakfast, but I was able to see it this last trip...after seeing it I left and went to a local bakery instead. They also need to upgrade the security and access control...there is a reason that hotels left brass keys behind. These old residential grade locks and keys are not secure. I want this place to be good; so I hope they give it the investment it deserves.

The Inn is a very nice combination of a hotel and a bed and breakfast. The rooms look like most you would find in all of the known hotel chains but with the charm of a classic inn or b & b. We have stayed here on several occasions and have always thought it was charming despite the fact that condition of the rooms and some parts of the hotel can be very tired. But on the last 2 occasions, we have been disappointed with the service and the rooms have not been as clean as we’d liked. There were also issues with coffee running out every morning, as well as the wine and cheese during happy hour.

Area has a number of good restaurants towards the ocean and the beach is lovely. The open plain behind the hotel let's you take in the environment and northerly views of LA. Breakfast station was being set up as I left at 6:30am, but coffee was already out for early departures. Very nice stay.

This is now my go to place to stay while in Los Angles area. The staff was extremely friendly and made you feel like they really wanted you to have a great stay. The room was comfortable, the bathroom very large (great surprise). Loved the B B atmosphere with the free breakfast and wine/cheese. This is the best location! You are walking distance to the ocean when there is a beach, walking path and bike path. This is a must stay area!

Exceeded expectations. This place is a stone's throw from LAX, quaint yet luxurious, and clean. What really sets it apart is the staff and the food. From the aroma of pumpkin bread baking when I checked in, to the welcome wine and cheese hour, the attentiveness of the staff throughout my stay, the fresh baked jar of cookies on the counter, to the amazing breakfast spread, this place was impressive. I will definitely book here again!

Arrived late to an entrance, in the front door to a lift to the lobby. Friendly welcome. 3rd floor room clean enough but in need of TLC shutters broken, some furniture worn. Bathroom decor also tired. Fair amount of traffic noise because room was roadside. Breakfast service good nice eggs.

I ended up leaving the property. Because I paid $3 hundred plus dollars for a room with bathtub, and the room was not provided as what I paid for. I didn’t stay.

Incredibly pleasant and helpful staff. Our room was on the front side facing the road and therefore a bit noisy at night, but we expected that. The room itself was lovely. Breakfast is great! Highly recommend this hotel.

We had a great experience at this Inn. It is your classic small Inn with great personal attention. The location is fairly quiet for LA and the proximity to the beach is great; about a 10 minute walk. The wine & cheese in late afternoon and the breakfast each morning were beautifully presented and delicious. The room was comfortable and clean, good hot water and pressure and a spacious bathroom.

The interesting thing about this property is that it seems really expensive, but the parking is included and convenient, the breakfast is free and generous, and there's actually also a free happy hour with wine, beer, cheese, and other edibles… There are wonderful common areas for enjoying views of the wetlands, and the place is also walking distance to the beach

I liked that there were several nice sitting areas both inside and outside. These were decorated in a way that gave the feeling you had been invited to stay at a friend’s beautiful home or cottage on the marsh to join them for breakfast and some bird watching. I loved it!

A hidden gem in So Cal for older, serene and bird-watching folks. I was automatically impressed with the customer service, cleanliness and amenities at this boutique hotel/ bed 'n breakfast. Great views, open, spacious bedroom, convenient parking. I can't wait to return. The only negative my friend and I could think of was HBO was listed on the TV guide in our room binder but it wasn't actually available. Since it's vacay mode for us we like to take advantage of premium channels and this wasn't offered. Other than that I cannot speak highly enough of this place.

well kept and quite little place along the wetlands in LA. We were only here one night for a concert at the Forum but this is the kind of place I wouldn't mind staying longer. Cozy rooms, nice common areas where you really would want to sit for awhile, good service and a nice breakfast.
