Reviews
The hotel is generally praised for its beautiful, historic property with charming Spanish colonial architecture and lush, well-maintained grounds. The staff is often commended for being attentive and friendly. However, there are recurring complaints about the rooms being outdated, understaffing, and issues with amenities such as the pool, spa, and restaurant. Some guests also express disappointment with the check-in/check-out process and the front desk staff's attitude.

Beautiful quaint boutique hotel with lots of character. We upgraded our room because the double rooms are a bit small.

The spa and how friendly the staff was!
- 5/5
everything from the beautiful landscaping to the wonderful water features! The architecture, all of the antiques, the old original style of the buildings, the lighting. Every detail in this place is wonderful and well cared for. there was nothing that I didn’t like

Great property! Nice amenities and room! Food was also great. Staff was excellent

This resort was truly a gem!!! They have filled every corner of this property with the most beautiful landscaping. We spent our entire weekend relaxing by the pool, at the spa, enjoying wonderful breakfasts at T. Cooks and just taking in all the beauty with so many places to sit and relax. We will definitely be back.
- 5/5
Would be nice to have sauna available as a guest vs only being allowed to use if you purchase a spa treatment.

The exterior of the resort and staff were amazing. However the rooms need to be updated. The maids did a wonderful job of cleaning and changing the bed. However l was disappointed since the rooms and hallways needed to be seriously updated. The carpets and the furniture in the rooms were falling apart. The hallway and carpet in the section l stayed reminded me of a 2 or 3 star hotel while l paid for a 5 star resort hotel. The hotel needs a major renovation and its sad that the outside area really reminds me of Italy and France. However the rooms were a shocking embrassement. The maids and staff were exceptional. I feel that the corporation owned boutique should be the jewel of the phoenix metro area with its location. I'm sure that management knows improvements need to be made. The rooms and hallways need to be seriously updated. The furniture in the rooms do not belong in a 5 start resort. I would be greatly surprised if the majority of your guests did not feel the same way.

I like the traditional Spanish style, making it both indulgent and comfortable. They put me in a room that I hadn’t booked and when I requested the room I had confirmed, it felt awkward. They kindly offered to pay for a couple of drinks but they were still on the bill at the end. Making me feel awkward to re raise the issue.
- 5/5
One of the most wonderful stays my husband and I have ever had! The staff was wonderful! David and Taylor especially so. It is our thirtieth anniversary and they treated us like a king and queen! The rooms are so luxurious and the amenities were top notch! We will be back !!!
- 5/5
Great, upscale hotel/ dining/ spa experience in a beautiful setting right in the heart of the Phoenix metro area. Pricy but worth it. Although we did not bring our dog, it is pet-friendly.
- 5/5
Comforting rustic charm. Tranquility. Location, location, location. The management staff was tremendous. Special thanks to Taylor. As a gym buff, I’m not as enticed by rustic gyms as I am by rustic decor in rooms.

It was such a relaxing stay. People were friendly, the grounds were beautiful.
- 4/5
Resort is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately my entire travel party became ill (no fault of resort), and couldn’t take full advantage of the amenities.
- 5/5
Great value, great experience with my family that including our baby boy
- 5/5
Very nice highly recommend
- 5/5
This is by far one of my favorite properties and favorite place to visit. Breathtaking views of the pool and Camelback Mountain from my room. Impeccably clean. Front desk staff were beyond welcoming and accommodating (sparkling wine upon arrival? (YES PLEASE!). Pool staff/attendants were accommodating as well. Very friendly and attentive. You don't feel as if you are in a big city when on this property. It transfers you to another time entirely.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel with an incredibly attentive staff. We stayed for one night and will certainly go back in the future.
- 3/5
Pool was great. Room are old.
- 5/5
It was great
- 5/5
Pool Area could use some work. Maybe larger. Wasn’t able to use overcrowded on high temp day in Mach. Too many people in pool and not enough shade or seating Over all beautiful and staff was amazing.
- 4/5
I’d have to say our stay was good. The cleaning staff was great, receptionists and pool wait staff were also very helpful. A couple downsides…from our “Camelback view” rooms, you could only see palm trees, no view on the mountain whatsoever. The downside of pet friendly, was the dog in a room near ours barking a lot and a strong urine smell in the hall, which props to the cleaning crew, smelled of bleach in the afternoon. It was nice to have a spa onsite, but I’d probably rate it 6/10. Overall, the room was nice, clean, very comfortable bed.
- 5/5
Amazing property, very cool vibe.
- 5/5
Very good stay loved the room and the wedding venu

Friendly helpful staff in reception..help with transport to local restaurant, clean, very comfortable room. Lots of beautiful quiet areas to read, take a breath…good food at restaurant. Secure and safe..

I lived in PHX for 10yrs and always wanted to stay at this property as I would take clients to T-Cooks (on property restaurant) for lunch. For the price of the room, the bathrooms are pretty outdated (tile and vanity) The pipes were ‘knocking’ behind the wall when ever someone used the shower or faucet and we could hear the knocking into the night! The nightstands and lamps in the room also felt tired and ready for a ‘refresh’. The spa was nice but underwhelming and pretty small. The stucco in the hot tub was sooo rough and abrasive that is was not very comfortable to sit in. Call me crazy, but if I’m going to drop some cash $ for a hotel room at a well known resort (girls weekend), I expect to get my monies worth! The grounds are beautiful and the pool was lovely. Staff was very friendly and accommodating and it was fun to see a few weddings taking place as we walked throughout the property.

Beautiful grounds and loving staff. Zach was a great teacher for our cocktail class.
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 3/5
We were supposed to be in a king room, but had a queen size bed. Also, a 50 dollar resort fee and 40 dollar valet feels very excessive. The staff was very very nice though.
- 5/5
Excellent customer service! Beautiful property.
- 5/5
We loved the hospitality from the entire staff. Rebecca, who served us our breakfast each morning, was very friendly and accomodated our requests. We also enjoyed the complimentary apple cider delivered to our room for our anniversary. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back soon. We will recommend Royal Palms to our family and friends. N/A
- 4.5/5
Loved the welcome, staff was lovely and very helpful and food was excellent. Swimming pool and gym were great too.
- 5/5
My husband and I both agreed that this was the most beautiful boutique hotel we’ve stayed at in Phoenix. Very quaint, gorgeous property and mountain views along with a wonderful Spa.
- 4.5/5
It was luxurious and clean with ample amenities and activities. No refrigerator or microwave in the room.
- 5/5
Place is really cool. Would stay again.
- 3/5
Have been several times this was not my favorite visit
- 4/5
Great setting, nice accommodation. The rooms were clean, but the room may me up for renewal sooner or later (old shower etc) to keep up the 5*'s We had a room near the street and the noise of the cars during the night was not optimal. Rather older on he inside.
- 4/5
We had a room near the street and the noise of the cars during the night was not optimal. Rather older on he inside.
- 5/5
The most beautiful landscaping and small intimate feel.
- 4/5
Two things are quite impressive: one, staff welcomed us warmly by showing us to our room upon checking in and also made the appropriate room arrangement for us as desired; two, both Christmas Eve and Christmas night dinner table were fully booked but the staff at the restaurant as well as the Bar made it easy for us to order food from the kitchen at the bar and we appreciated it very much.
- 4/5
Unfortunately, our room was not up to 5 stars. It was small and plain and outdated. My son who got his room direct from hotel got a fantastic room and paid less. Also we think the restaurant for breakfast was understaffed- a long wait for food.
- 5/5
The grounds are gracious in an old-school, quaint way.
- 5/5
All was great. Perhaps the coffee coulda been better. $40 per night for parking was the only unpleasant surprise
- 5/5
Great stay.
- 5/5
An excellent stay
- 4/5
Staff was nice and helpful, room was overall clean, amenities were pretty good as well, not many complaints honestly, pretty cool resort.
- 5/5
Staff was kind and gracious.
- 5/5
Great place, very quiet and private!
- 5/5
As always, a great stay and team!
- 5/5
We felt right at home. All staff at the hotel were terrific. So accommodating.
- 2/5
Great property just a reall bad experience. We booked this for our one year wedding anniversary and decided since we’re staying at a nice hotel to skip doing dinner in town and let’s spend the entire night at the resort to enjoy what we paid for. At 6pm a rain storm came in and i guess damaged the power the property and took out the TV/internet and all the power to the bars and restaurants on property. Which completely ruined our night so we ended up just staying inside in our room on. phones hotspot wat hung netflix from a laptop. Def not what we paid for. Then to top it off i requested late check out and was denied even with the fiasco the night before.
- 5/5
Kaitlyn gave an AMAZING massage - I fell asleep which I never do and slept so good that night. The bed was a little stiff for my liking, the pool area was great. Felt like the restaurant and rooms/hallways were a little dated, but the property is cool with a Mediterranean vibe. Terrace room was cool as well loved the little patio.
- 5/5
It’s always a pleasure staying here
- 5/5
Friendly, professional staff and beautiful grounds.
- 5/5
I will definitely be back to the Royal Palms! I love the historic aesthetic of the resort and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The resort is also close to shopping and restaurants in Old Town Scottsdale.
- 5/5
Excellent and quaint.
- 5/5
Great boutique hotel. We loved it
- 5/5
Amazing and relaxing resort with nostalgia and charm.
- 5/5
We had an excellent time at the resort! 24 hour pool was amazing, the staff was so friendly! We had a great time at the restaurant the brunch was so good! The room cleaning was done really well. We are definitely coming back here !
- 5/5
Beautiful Resirt
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful, kind, and friendly. They were attentive to the needs and wishes of the guests.
- 5/5
Royal Palms has hosted people like two previous presidents!
- 5/5
We felt welcomed and well taken care of our entire stay at Royal Palms. Very special property with history.
- 5/5
The resort is beautiful and the peaceful quiet nature of the facility is worth every penny. I also enjoyed the pool very much.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful time. The staff were wonderful. They greeted us with a glass of champagne. We were able to check in early and our room was available right away. The only thing I found odd was we were put in an accessible room which the room was big, I’m not sure why they would do that, just in case they would have a guest check in that would need the room.
- 5/5
Lovely place, great rooms, service, clean, beautiful grounds. We haven’t found something not to love about this place!
- 5/5
The hotel is beautiful very well maintained very unique. Love it love it love it!
- 5/5
We loved the pool our room was very beautiful best hotel we’ve stayed in 30 years.
- 5/5
This was a nice little weekend retreat. The hotel was beautiful. The bathroom contained Both a shower and bath. The bed was comfortable.
- 5/5
It was a beautiful property. We were treated like royalty
- 5/5
Beautiful property with a great spa. The staff was very attentive and friendly.

- 5/5
Excellent service and great facilities
- 5/5
Great experience
- 5/5
Loved the room and the beautiful grounds. Excellent food in the restaurant too!!
- 5/5
The most amazing hotel resort. It’s historic and absolutely a gorgeous, peaceful place. The beds were so comfortably, it smells like Heaven and it is truly a one of a kind treasure.
- 2/5
It’s a beautiful old property and the rooms are quite expensive so I was surprised when my shower floor was discolored with black mold. The seam between the showerwall and floor was in need of caulk. Onsite restaurant T Cooks was expensive yet average quality food.
- 5/5
Elegant, comfortable and relaxing room and resort.
- 5/5
One of our favorite hotels that has beautiful grounds, spacious rooms and very friendly staff. This most recent trip did not disappoint.
- 5/5
The history of the property, amenities, staff, and room were amazing. We will definitely be back.
- 5/5
Great property!!
- 5/5
Beautiful property, staff was friendly and helpful. Food and drinks were excellent. The down sides are not much around outside of the property to do that was close by, and charging the “resort fee” on check-in day was a bit much considering check in isn’t until 4 pm. Overall we had a great stay and would stay here again.
- 5/5
What an amazing and charming place. The Royal Palms is absolutely beautiful and a page out of a golden era. We haven't felt this relaxed at many other places, and the food and drinks were as good as any we enjoyed in Scottsdale. We highly recommend.
- 4/5
Lovely hotel. The grounds are exquisite. The room was a bit dark and drapes/carpet could use an update, but the bathroom was beautiful. The bar is very cozy. Pool was nice.
- 5/5
Beautiful resort. Everyone was very pleasant and eager to serve. Made our stay here wonderful.
- 5/5
Went for the night to celebrate an anniversary and the hotel sent us chocolate and champagne and rose petals to our room. What a nice surprise!
- 5/5
Its a special place take friends and have fun !
- 5/5
Royal Palms exceeded all my expectations! The property was absolutely stunning with incredible gardens even in the winter, the rooms were lovely and clean and the service was flawless. Will definitely stay again!
- 2/5
No self parking is really a big negative, an unnecessary cash grab. I have avoided hotels with valet only parking, and it will play into my decision to stay here in the future. I insist on parking and securing my car. It requires me to remove things from my car that is an inconvenience to me.

A lovely secluded paradise
- 3/5
Lovely boutique resort, staff was very friendly. I visited during the New Year eve holiday. My only gripe is that I ordered room service two consecutive evenings. I ordered the exact same meal on both days however, the quality on the second day was wildly different and items were missing while others were present. Suggestion would be to have more quality control over room service meals such that the experience is akin to eating in the restaurant, especially given the price for room service.
- 5/5
Best hotel ever
- 5/5
Room need update
- 5/5
Wonderful stay!
- 5/5
Beautiful property, very safe and private. Great staff. Food and bar are amazing
- 3/5
Room outdated
- 5/5
Lovely property with beautiful gardens and grounds.
- 5/5
The Palms Resort was beautiful and well maintained. The surrounding area was also very nice. The restaurant at the resort T. Cooks was excellent. We used the bikes at the resort for a nice bike around the Scottsdale area. We will definitely be back.
- 3/5
My two biggest problems. First, I cannot understand a property not having self parking as an option. To add insult to injury, $40 overnight when the car was parked in the lot by the front entrance, about 100’ from the front of the hotel. $40 plus tipping every time we left added up. With all the parking on the property this was outrageous. Second, just an amenity issue. We have stayed at many hotels over Chriuandvthis is the first property that didn’t bring even a little Christmas treat to our room. Not a big deal, but come on…..for a boutique property with decent room rate, you could afford it !! May need to reconsider coming back next time we come to Scottsdale next year for baseball Spring Training.
- 4/5
Service at the hotel is really great! Unfortunately, the facility itself is desperately in need of updating. They downplay the condition by positioning it as a classic Mediterranean resort, one of a timeless age. Also, the layout of the villa is "choppy," making it a bit challenging for customers to navigate their way around. Lastly, the resort is directly on East Camelback Rd., making entry/exit difficult via car and virtually impossible on foot (no sidewalks!).
- 5/5
I am absolutely determined to return here with my husband when we have more time. We absolutely loved everything about it.
- 5/5
Everything about my stay was amazing! The staff, the food, the hospitality for my birthday and being upgraded to a villa for free! I will stay here again!
- 4/5
Nice size rooms
- 4/5
Beautiful place. Exorbitant prices- $10 for 4 slices of bread
- 2/5
Reception/front desk staff and valet staff were amazing but rest of experience was not great. Food was mediocre (tried 4 different dishes and none of the dishes were that great). Poolside service was horrible! Has a good massage but the spa itself was nothing special.
- 5/5
Amazingly relaxing
- 4/5
Relaxing bar/lounge and good breakfast. Convenient location to town and hiking near by
- 5/5
Our stay was amazing. The staff took care of us and were all very friendly. I would highly recommend staying here.
- 5/5
Great hotel, great quiet bar and great restaurant you don’t have to leave the property
- 5/5
What a beautiful, special place to stay in Scottsdale. Great food in the restaurant and the staff was great. Easy Uber rides to the airport and old town Scottsdale. Would love to stay there again!
- 3/5
For a resort advertising it is a small and very old place. Rooms are damp and not enough electrical plugs for a modern family. We could have done much better in other resorts. Final bill was $40 more. One night they charged valet parking of 2 cars while we had only one car.
- 5/5
I love the property! The area around the pool deck is in need of repair
- 5/5
This resort was really lovely. The grounds and gardens are beautiful. It's in a busy surrounding area but was like returning to a little oasis of peace and beauty. We only stayed 1 night but we really enjoyed it and wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was very attentive.
- 5/5
This property was phenomenal. So beautiful and clean, the restaurant was delicious and the staff was made us feel so welcome. Can’t wait to go back!
- 5/5
Staff was incredibly nice
- 5/5
This Hyatt unbound collection hotel is a hidden gem with beautiful views of Camelback Mountains. From the moment my dog and I arrived the front desk service (Marissa) was exceptional, accommodating while helping us feel right at home. They are a very pet friendly hotel, with complimentary pet amenities (dog bed, ball, frozen all natural treat, dog bowl mat, along with a nice cold bottle of water or champagne upon check in. The in room dining comes from their main kitchen at T. Cooks restaurant, all their meat and produce is locally sourced. Be sure to try their pasta as it is homemade and can be made GF homemade as well! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing oasis, home away from home experience.
- 5/5
We love staying at Royal palms whenever we visit Arizona. A nice relaxing getaway from the city
- 5/5
Beautiful resort and great staff. Only negative imo is that they only offer valet parking option - and it’s $40/day.
- 4/5
I really enjoy well-appointed properties with a historic aspect to them. The grounds are lovely, staff is welcoming and accommodating, and the food choices on premises are very good.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful hotel. The staff were very friendly which made our stay pleasing. Shout out Christian at the pool. His service toward us was and is outstanding. What got me is that he remembered our name after only meeting him for perhaps half an hour during our check in. The next day he was there giving us the first class treatment. He is an excellent employee of the Royal Palms resort. The guys at the valet were very gracious with their service. This hotel with their staff is a must stay. We will be back in future visits to Phoenix.
- 5/5
This property reminds me of a mini Hearst Castle, with its Spanish tiles, pools, fountains, palm trees and sculptures. It has class. Rooms are large, quiet and luxurious with three types of window treatments to really black out the light. And, the drapes overlap so there is virtually no light coming through. Staff is extremely helpful at all times. Shout out to Wes and Barbara who do the history tour about the resort. Wonderful and very informative. Dan, the night security guard, helped me the last time I stayed at the resort when I needed a flat bed tow truck for my car, which had a flat tire. He checked on me periodically as I waited for the truck to make sure I was taken care of and he went above and beyond in that role. On my recent stay, Aimee, who is the event manager, stopped by and chatted while I was at the pool. The pool is open 24 hours, which is very nice and it's cool in the summer, not 110 degrees. The hot tub is at a perfect temperature. Cars are parked in covered parking out of the hot sun. I highly recommend registering for the mixology class at the bar. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable about cocktails and make their own syrups from scratch. Some taking days to infuse. It's really fun to take their classes. I have been to other resorts in Arizona and this is by far my favorite. It exceeds all my expectations on every visit. Managers are attentive and go beyond. Scottsdale Fashion Square is 8 minutes away. Museums are about 20 minutes away.
- 5/5
Just a great resort property. Very beautiful and the entire staff are some of the best I've ever seen. It really is a great property. One of the best.
- 4/5
Loved the old hotel authenticity.
- 4/5
This property felt secluded and safe. Unfortunately, there was a particular oder to the shower water and the room floor was creaky and uneven in certain areas.
- 5/5
Stayed for my wife and I’s 11th anniversary and the entire experience was gorgeous!!
- 5/5
Enjoyed it!
- 5/5
Staying at this property felt like we were transported to another part of the world!!

Amazing historical hotel. Beautiful rooms and pool and excellent food.
- 4/5
Staff was very accommodating.
- 5/5
Wonderful views, great room that was clean with a lot of space. I loved it, didn’t feel like I was at a hotel at all. More like I was staying in a huge house. The pool area was great and pool staff was great as well.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful place hidden from noise! Feels like you are transported into other times with all of its gardens, and gathering areas. This stay was for a business trip but we are already making for a vacation here.
- 5/5
Beautiful!!!
- 5/5
Historic building and grounds are beautifully kept.
- 1/5
Power outage on check in day had no estimated time for the power to be back up, booked to celebrate my birthday and it just wasnt a good experience.
- 5/5
Stayed at the Royal Palms for our 12 year wedding anniversary and it was a dream! From the moment we arrived Wes the concierge was so kind and welcoming, provided us with welcome champagne glasses and chocolate strawberries for our anniversary. The room is stunning with the open terrace and tub. The grounds are magical to walk around and the pool was tons of fun. We had dinner at T.Cooks on the property and it was delightful. 5 star hotel no doubt!
- 1/5
The property is beautiful, but shortly after check in the wing we were in lost power. We were originally told that the power would be back on in 2 hours or less. Onnce the 2 hours were up we were told theyvhad no eta. Front desk staff made excuses about how they could give us a refund and were generally unhelpfull.
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 5/5
This is my favorite boutique resort in AZ. Never a disappointment always spectacular!
- 5/5
Loved it! T. Cooks was great, our room was perfect and we loved how quiet it was, along with the music playing all around the resort. Had a great stay.
- 5/5
This is a great hotel. The grounds and pool area are so very beautiful. We had a daybed at the pool and they took excellent care of us. The on-sight restaurant "T Cooks" was wonderful for breakfast and dinner. We would definitely return.
- 5/5
Best service! Amazing resort ! Beautiful views
- 5/5
Very comfortable rooms. Valet was very helpful with parking and charging our e Mini Cooper. Grounds are very quaint and cozy. Free use of spa amenities without needing to book a massage or treatment. Would highly recommend

Great hotel
