Pasadena Rose & Crown Hotel

This was a last minute decision but I’m happy to have found this place. David was super nice and helpful. So many places in Pasadena to have lunch, dinner and shop. Definitely returning! 😊

Everything was great but limited breakfast options for gluten-free or low/no-sugar. Just a family need.

The rooms were clean enough and the staff was friendly. HOWEVER, the walls were very thin so in the first night we were woken up several times, twice by cars and once by a girl locked out of her room loudly complaining to customer support and proceeded to get louder when another guest asked them to keep it down. Secondly, as an avid hotel gym goer I was extremely disappointed by the hotel gym. First off, the hours were 9am to 9pm. This doesn't make any sense to me, even on late start days I was starting work or leaving the hotel for activities by 9am so it's impossible to use the gym beforehand. Then with all the great food places and nighttime entertainments we were out till 8pm every night at least. I was having to rush to make it back to the hotel to badge in before the gym would lock up. But even if you make it into the gym, there's only three equipment: an all in one cable machine contraption, an elliptical, and a treadmill. Maybe I've been spoiled but this is the first hotel I've stayed at without a water filling station in the gym. Also there's no yoga mats which seems like such low hanging fruit for a hotel gym to have. Mainly, the treadmill sounded like it was struggling and it would randomly but consistently switch to cool down mode so I was having to actively fight it ever 3 minutes. Great location though, if they just changed the gym hours and fixed the treadmill I'd come again.

Everything we needed for a good price. The hot breakfast buffet offered only waffles and breakfast sandwiches as the hot items, so was just adequate. I appreciated that they provided luggage carts and plenty of parking.

The only complaint I have is the breakfast wasn’t only OK. They didn’t have scrambled eggs or sausage. They had sausage and egg sandwiches. I was hoping for only sausage and eggs in the waffle was pretty good.

Great location, very clean, very comfortable beds. A bit noisy from the traffic and other rooms would be my only note to consider for future travelers.

Nice room, especially at the price point. Very clean, comfy bed, great pillows, roomy bathroom. The only factor that is somewhat of a negative is the cramped parking lot. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a remodeled hotel. Our room was great, and we had covered parking. The only problem with breakfast was very limited coffee.

The hotel was fine; service was excellent. Breakfast was not always well-supplied. But the biggest problem was noise in the hallways from other guests. We were on the second floor, and there was constant screaming and boom boxes going and children loudly playing at all hours, including all night. Of the three nights we were there, two were without a chance to sleep through the night.

Amazing place and great staff

This place is a winner. Right from checking in to leaving after a three day visit was a pleasant experience. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Staff does an excellent job at keeping everything clean and tidy. Room was exceptionally clean and very quiet for being right on a busy street. Bed was wonderful and room spacious. Nice bathroom with plenty of hot water. I would prefer a solid door on the bathroom instead of a glass barn door , but no big deal. Tons of parking also and lots of restaurants nearby. Buffet breakfast was a great way to start the day with a hot entree, and waffle maker, bread, bagels, cereal, fruit and beverages. Not elegant but good tasty breakfast to start your day. Will stay here again when in Pasadena.

This hotel looks a bit shabby from the outside, but is just fine. Very convenient location. Breakfast bar is rather limited.

It was perfectly fine, but it wasn’t so much a hotel, more of a motel. The door opened directly into the room, which was very clean and comfortable enough. The hotel was fairly close to nearby attractions/central Pasadena. It was good enough for a two night stay, but not much longer. The staff was friendly, though.

The hotel was clean, well maintained, breakfast was good, staff was nice, it was fairly quiet. The only problem, and this may be the way I booked it, was that I had the impression my room would be $114 a night for three nights. It was $114 the first night, $379 the second night, and $399 the third night, and somehow I didn't find this out till I checked in, by which time it was too late to change.

The staff was very professional, and the free breakfast was great.

Room was big, clean and comfortable. This is my second stay here. Staff was great both times. First visit I actually booked the wrong day and the young lady at the front desk was able to change it to the night we actually arrived. Breakfast was good. Heating and cooling worked in the room as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel. One of the best I've stayed in over my travelling through the years.

A nice and clean room with a fridge, a microwave, and with a stable connection to WiFi. A good breakfast with yogourt, sandwiches, fruits, and waffles. And, finally, a great location near the famous CalTech! We enjoyed our stay at Pasadena Rose and Crown hotel!

Biggest dissatisfaction was the quality of the breakfast. Egg and sausage biscuits were horrible. Scrambled eggs were not real eggs. Second was the noise factor. Was on 2nd floor and you could hear guests above all night - almost no noise insulation between floors.

This is an old Route 66 motel meticulously upgraded and efficiently operated, clean rooms, nice breakfast room with choices including freshly cooked eggs and sausage, waffles, etc. we'll be back.

Stayed two nights. Great location for visiting the Huntington Library. Room was clean, quiet and the beds comfy.

Excellent morning breakfast buffet. Very clean and orderly hotel. Courteous, friendly and professional staff. The hotel is clearly vintage, however many upgrades have been done to make the guests stay safe and comfortable. We will stay there again

The included parking and breakfast were very convenient for us and not often found in this prime neighborhood. The staff was nice and efficient, the rooms very clean, the beds comfortable and the showers good. We wished the air conditioner units in the rooms were less loud and the door to the bathroom more suitable to privacy.

Breakfast option is limited but good. Rooms are very clean and excellent, I felt safe. Staff is awesome. Pool is wonderful. Overall I definitely recommend this hotel and will continue reserving a room here. Many fast food restaurants in walking distance.

This place was awful and I’m bummed I spent so much money there when I could have stayed at a much better property for a little more just down the street. The first experience I had was with extremely rude desk, clerk who ended up giving us an awful room. The first night once my kids were already settled in bed the toilet broke, and instead of sending a handyman, they sent the housekeeper with a plunger for us to plunge the toilet. I kept complaining but instead of switching rooms they just stuck us with the damn plunger. The breakfast tasted like plastic. They failed to let us know that you need to request housekeeping by hanging a sign on the door so we did not get our room cleaned. On top of it the refrigerator was broken, the beds were stained, the bathroom was falling apart, and the non-disabled stuff would take the accessible parking spaces, even without a placard. I will never again stay here and I do not recommend anybody else doing it either.

The breakfast menu was very basic, but fresh and clean. I would rqlly have appreciated brewed decaf coffee i stead of instant. The staff were pleasant. The biggest issue were the loud doors. I'm sure gueats were not slamming their doors, but it sure sounded like it! Over and over again from 4:15 AM until we gave up trying to sleep. If there is a way to dampen the sound of the closing doors, all your guests would appreciate it. It didn't help that the guest in the room abive us started walking laps across our ceiling for more than an hour at abiut the same time. It would also be appreciated if the room were stocked with towels for the number of guests booked in the room. We requested more towels, but we were only provided with more bath towels, but not hand towels or wash cloths. The front desk staff were great.

Tuesday I went for breakfast around 8:30 AM, and I saw there was no croissant sandwich nor Benedict sandwich. I told a middle age Mexican server standing right at the door of the storage, and she told me whatever was left was what your hotel offered for the day. I told her your breakfast hour ended at 9 am, but it was only 8:30 am. So I had to make pancakes instead. She did make a small batch of the sandwiches I was looking for after a while. I think her response was just her personal opinion not your hotel policy. Hopefully that’s the case. Thanks!

Booked a room as a local stay due to plumbing issues in our home. Just wanted a reasonably priced, clean and comfortable stay and this place did the job. It's been awhile since I've seen such a clean room. We stay in big vegas resort hotels all the time and those rooms don't compare to these in cleanliness. I'm pretty picky too and will look in crevices and this place was spotless! Breakfast was simple and warm. General manager and workers were friendly. I love that. Tells me ownership is good to their staff. Glad we found this local kind.

Staff spoke very little English, repeated requests for additional decaf packets were answered individually, but not carried over day-to-day. I had to get some from desk each day, and last day there was none left in stock. How does that happen? The bathroom was very large, for a person with mobility issues but cold (no heat lamps), limited hooks for towels or clothing, limited toiletries. Restocking bathroom was inconsistent each day, something always missing or ignored. Light socket on lamp base wasn't secured and didn't recharge phone overnight. Very poor selection of brochures about local Pasadena sites and desk had no local knowledge of eateries or getting around by bus. Not everyone drives.

This was my second time staying at this property and I'm sad to say that it did not meet the basic needs. Issues with plumbing in the shower. The bath liquids provided were poor quality and did not flow properly from the containers in the shower.

Rooms were clean, the grounds needed some additional attention. Free breakfast was pretty typical. We requested twice that the toilet be repaired so that it would quit running. Was still running when we checked out. Bed was quite comfortable with good reading lights. Although along Colorado Blvd, the house abated around 9 pm and wasn't a problem.

Super clean through out the hotel. Room is clean, large and comfortable. Breakfast is always great too. We feel very safe here and stay a couple times a year for the reasons above.

The bedding was really light and not warm enough for a February night. Luckily, I brought my own blankets for this reason. The pool was clean and free of clutter. Every morning I woke up with back pain from sleeping on a worn out bed. Breakfast was disappointing. The waffles mix, scrabble powder eggs, cheap sausage tasted horrible. Honestly, with room rates that I paid the amenities didn’t do its justice. I will not be staying at this hotel in future; nor will I recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

The room amenities could be enhanced to include tea and creamer for the coffee. Bottled water would also be a nice addition. The property is close to a busy road and earplugs should also be provided. The bare floors with no carpet also felt a little too spartan.

The room was minimalist but vey ckean and had everything i needed. Location of the hotel was great. I could walk everywhere i needed to go. The breakfast area in the lobby was great. But the best part of the stay was rhe staff members. Each person i met was so kind and welcoming and efficient. I will definitely stay there again.

Our stay was ok. It would've been even better if the power didn't shut off, 3 times. I was hoping they'd have a generator to provide power while the main power was being repaired. The safe in the room didn't seem to work. The AC unit's buttons seemed to be peeled off so I couldn't see what was what. The TV had some audio issues as well. Every channel sounded like the Transformers were doing dialogue. Talk about more than meets the eye. We had seen how dusty it was too. I had hoped they did some upkeep before we checked in. The beds were comfortable and clean. The bathroom was nice and clean too. The staff members were pleasant and helpful.

The beds were not comfortable, bathroom was hideous. The bathtub paint was pealing from many places with stains all over the tub. I will never book this hotel again.

We were in town for a college football game at The Rose Bowl. This is a great location just outside Old Pasadena and a quick drive to The Rose Bowl. The hotel may seem “outdated” on the outside but it’s been updated on the inside. The room was clean. The beds were comfy. We will absolutely stay at the hotel again, if in the Pasadena area. We walked to a couple dinner spots, as there is plenty of restaurants close by. All the staff was very welcoming and friendly.

The only thing I didn’t love was it was a little noisy. We could hear the other guests hanging out outside our rooms and we were tired. But they left after a while and I don’t fault the hotel for that. But a little sound proofing might be nice there. :) Overall I would stay here again. Very nice hotel.

Don’t let the exterior fool you. The rooms look exactly like the pictures. The room was very clean. Bathroom appeared to have been recently upgraded. Close to several restaurants and a Ralph’s supermarket.

The property is in old town, has a lot of accessible restaurants near by, quiet, clean and the service from staff is good. Housekeeping is done regularly. Only drawback is that we have to buy water from vending machines and it is always sold out

Quaint, clean, great location, friendly staff! Was perfect for a weekend place to stay while we were going to a concert at the Rose Bowl. Prices were fair, the room was nice, and parking was easy and well lit. I stayed with my daughter and we felt totally safe here. Would definitely stay here again.

The room was perfect. The only small thing was how easy it is to hear everything going on outside the room. Other than that, the staff are all very friendly and accommodating and the property is kept very clean. The breakfast was also very fulfilling.

This is a newly renovated property located in a convenient area. The cleanliness is exceptional, and the rooms are up-to-date, and the continental breakfast with warm selections is included. A wonderful find!

I was only there over night. The room was clean, the bed was too soft, the tv didn’t have good channels so I watched tv on my iPad, there were a number of men talking very loudly past midnight which disturbed my sleep. The breakfast was typical, staff were friendly and helpful. Middle of the road hotel. Imho, too expensive for 1 night.

Breakfast lacking

Showed up and room smelled like someone had been hoarding cats and urine. Explained that I wanted refund due to terrible condition and smell. No customer service, very rude curly hair boy at front. Hookers and crackheads stay to the building on the left and wander around the property at all hours. I could smell the putrid scent of fentanyl being smoked in the close distance across the courtyard. Don’t bring kids here

A nicely redone hotel that is clean and modern vibes. The gentlemen that checked us in was very friendly. Close to a lot of coffee shops, food and shopping.

Staff / clean room / the vibes

The rooms are a good size, spotlessly clean, modern, with every amenity you need (eg fridge, microwave, safe, hair dryer, iron, flat screen TV). The shower is powerful with complimentary soap, shampoo and conditioner. There is on-site free self-parking (in my case I could see my car from my bedroom window) - and free parking in Pasadena is real bonus. There is a breakfast included in the price, and the choice is surprisingly extensive - I was first in line though so I had all the options available, but nevertheless it adds further value to what is already a very reasonable room rate. The staff are friendly and efficient, the location is ideal, right on Colorado Boulevard, a short-ish (20 minutes) walk to some great restaurants and bars, so once the car's parked you don't need to drive if you want food and refreshment. There is also a pool, but I've never yet had time to use it on any of my stays. In short it has everything to rival some of its much fancier and more expensive competitors, I can unhesitatingly recommend it and give it 5 stars.

While the exterior doesn't pop like a more modern built hotel, the exterior is freshly painted and beautifully maintained. Because it was less in cost, I was concerned that it would not be nice like the photos. However, upon entering my room I was very happy as it was comparable to my more expensive regular stay hotel and very clean. I would stay here again.

I was very thankful for their help and their understanding we were moving from one state to another state. They allowed us to park our handicap truck U-Haul there. It was very difficult for my husband to park somewhere else and they allowed us to park there so I was very thankful for that.

The room was very clean. I enjoyed it very comfortable. The only thing it was right by some tables where they smoked and people were out there smoking and would come into the room.

From the outside this wonderful property doesn’t look like much. Inside the rooms are newly renovated and have comfortable beds. The staff is friendly and eager to assist. The lobby and breakfast area are sparkling clean and well managed. We will visit this little gem again in our travels.

The staff was welcoming and very accommodating and the room had all the things toa make the stay pleasant. But the room needed some updating - the bathtub drained to slowly and its enamel was off in areas. Also while the grounds were maintained the area is rather drab.
