The Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain is a beautiful and tranquil resort with stunning views and excellent staff. Guests frequently mention the attentive and friendly service, spacious rooms, and delicious food. However, some guests have noted that the property is somewhat dated and the prices for amenities such as the spa and restaurant are high.

Great property - quiet and small- no crazy party groups. Perfect for a relaxing girls weekend

Water was not hot when preparing bath.

The staff the food everything was amazing and so beautiful. I wasn't impressed with the poolside. It looks outdated. Other than that everything was great.

Cons: Store sells tacky clothes and counterfeit bags, but doesn’t have basic items like t’s with resort logo, sundry items, etc. Spa staff sometimes put out nuts, sometimes didn’t; and didn’t replenish ice. Pool area nice, though couple of pots of fake flowers didn’t exude class. Could’ve also used slow-close toilet seat in room bathroom.

Great stay at the Sanctuary at Camelback. The views are incredible, the property is clean and well kept, and the overall atmosphere is very relaxing. Service was solid and everything felt high-end without being over the top. Definitely a great spot if you’re looking to unwind in the Scottsdale area.
- 5/5
Nice luxurious resort. Amenities top notch and it includes tennis and pickleball courts with rackets available to borrow. Food is excellent at elements. Staff is very courteous and responsive through text message service. Fitness room is clean and the free fitness classes are a nice addition.
- 5/5
My daughter and I had a wonderful trip to The Sanctuary in Scottsdale. The location is perfect- very close for hiking Camelback, close to great shopping and the best restaurants in town. My daughter and I spent a week at this resort and will definitely be back.
- 4/5
Did not park. Room was tremendous. Perhaps one additional restaurant would have been nice.
- 3/5
Overpriced and not worthy of a 5* rating. Room was falling apart and not maintained. Property is old and poorly maintained. Staff were nice enough but not really what you would expect at this price point.
- 5/5
We loved our stay at this resort. It was beautiful, relaxing, quiet, not crowded, and the entire resort was well groomed and cared for. The spa services were exceptional. The best part of this stay was the staff. I don't think I have ever stayed at a resort with a more friendly and accommodating staff. If there is one thing that could be improved, I would suggest more healthy meal options on the bar menu.
- 5/5
The property was very relaxing and quiet. It has a great restaurant and spa and a pool with a view. The accommodations in the spa 2-bedroom suite were great with plenty of room and a huge bathroom and a walk-in closet.
- 5/5
It was a beautiful property. Great spa and pool. They ran out of chairs and towels on busy days. Because they allow in people for day passes it can be really crowded.

What a magnificent property and magnificent staff. Nothing but great things to say about Sanctuary and their staff (and their amazing massage therapists!).

Wonderful stay at the Sanctuary. Ideal for non-golf players who love a spa visit or tennis experience, with fabulous food, extremely kind staff and lovely accommodations. Relaxing and chill vibe with stunning views.

The best resort I’ve ever stayed at
- 3/5
The front of the house staff was very nice at the valet, front desk, and restaurant. The rooms were just ok, and the facility was not as nice as the pictures show
- 4/5
Fitness center also provides a safe space and clean. Last but not least the restaurant and bar is more definitely one of my favorite places. The views are amazing and the staff are great too!!

The HVAC was a bit frustrating. No way to turn it off. We will definitely stay here again

My stay at Sanatury Resort and Spa was nothing short of spectacular. My wife and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine hospitality and professionalism that set the tone for an unforgettable experience. The location is absolutely breathtaking . Stunning views of the mountains surrounded us. The resort is thoughtfully designed to promote peace, comfort, and connection with nature. The rooms are spotless, elegantly decorated, and perfectly equipped with everything you need for a luxurious yet relaxing stay. The bed was unbelievably comfortable along with the pillows. The spa experience is world-class. The therapists are incredibly skilled, and the treatments left me feeling completely renewed. The meals at the Element restaurant were beautifully presented and delisious. If i had one critique is that the dining menu didn’t offer a lot of selections. We also enjoyed in room service which was great and about a 20-minute wait from phone call to room delivery. The house keeping was attentive with our extra demands such as additional pillows, extra bathing salts for the tub along with bath towels. All.requests were delivered to our room promptly. What truly sets Sanatury apart, however, is the staff. Every team member I interacted with went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. Their attention to detail, kindness, and professionalism made me feel genuinely cared for. I give 5 stars to the concierge desk ( Claire & Rubin ) for all their help and attention to details to help male our stay memorable. If you’re looking for a place to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with nature, your partner and yourself, the Sanatury Resort and Spa is the perfect escape. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already planning my next visit. Element’s dining menu didn’t offer a lot of selections.

My room 624 smelled moldy and made all my clothes smell moldy too. Also, the sink was clogged up most of our stay there. Front desk young lady was nice to me but the rest of my friends thought her facial expressions were rude. I feel like she’s young and might just need some more training in the service industry. That’s something manageable. I got a massage on Saturday but I couldn’t take advantage of the amenities because the quiet room was too cold and the pool was cold too. Service at restaurant were great and the food was fresh and delicious. The valet guys were fabulous! Keep them just as is! They made our trip for sure and were really kind and knowledgeable.
- 5/5
The golf cart drivers deserve special recognition. Every single one was kind, patient, and incredibly helpful. Whether it was getting around the property or bringing my DoorDash, they made the resort feel easy and safe to navigate. Their warmth truly stood out. The spa was amazing. Peaceful, restorative, and beautifully done. The treatments were unhurried and thoughtful, and the entire environment made it easy to fully relax and disconnect. The food was excellent. Most importantly, I felt completely safe and comfortable as a solo guest. Sanctuary is quiet, secure, and respectful of personal space. I got much needed rest/sleep and left feeling genuinely renewed. I would absolutely return.

Good hotel- rooms are on the older side. The spa isn’t coed, no sauna, room refreshments are extra. Drinks and food is expensive. Coming from a different luxury hotel where all of this was included I realize I’d rather pay a little more for the room and not have to wonder if I’m going to be charged for every Diet Coke at the pool at $5 a pop.

The staff was amazing and the view was calming and breathtaking.

William at the front desk was absolutely wonderful. He went above and beyond to accommodate us and provided us a bottle of champagne, candles and rose petals for our one year wedding anniversary!! Would absolutely recommend and so thankful for William!

We won't be back for a 3rd time. Bummer
- 4/5
Overall this is a 4 star property, they were very accommodating and had great service. The food was delicious and I had the Watsu massage that was the best massage I’ve ever had in my life. The facilities however need some love. Our room had a very strong door that no one could identify. The pool had dirty towels and the tile seemed to be crumbling and moldy. Housekeeping threw away my travel sized hair oil and sunblock. I really wanted to give them a 5 star review but they fell short.
- 3.5/5
The staff was very friendly. We did enjoy the spa. The staff was excellent. We loved your monkey bread. The pool staff was great. The rug in the room was stained and dirty. We had to ask 3 times to get our room service code. The bath salts were empty and the interior looked old and crusty. The bed frame had a long drip of some kind which we noted to the concierge but was never cleaned.

I made reservation for the 17th by mistake and showed up on the 18th. Front desk clerk stated that he could see that but there was nothing he could do about it. I had to pay again for another night at a higher price. Even tough there were plenty of occupancy. Enjoyed the stay but definitely wont be coming back since i had to pay for 2 nights for one stay. Where is the common sense of an honest mistake and customer service. My business is 100% customer service and the front desk clerk didn't even try
- 3/5
When we first arrived we had a roach in our tub. They were able to switch our room. Everything on the resort is very costly. If you aren’t trying to speed money, this resort isn’t for you. A half a pack of M&M $12, waters and everything else in the room cost. The resort is very relaxing and quiet but it is very costly.

The staff was so kind, attentive and welcoming! We don't often stay at resorts, but when we checked in they immediately offered us a glass of sparkling rosè. The faciliities were beautiful! It was the end of August in Phoenix and the temp hovered around 103 during our stay. They had valet staff at the ready to cart guests anywhere on property due to the heat.

Negatives: didn't love the value of the restaurant, but food was good; same comment about the bar, felt a tinge overpriced but quality was fine. Overall: perfect for couples, quick getaways, health and rejuvenation stays.

Everything was perfect. We loved the beautiful surroundings of Camelback Mountain and our comfy and spacious accommodations. We appreciated having a back porch. Each and every employee in the resort was exceptional - friendly, professional, welcoming and always there with smiles and a good attitude. They have all been trained to the highest level. We ate many meals in the Elements restaurant and drinks in the bar. Every item we ordered was delicious and beautifully prepared. My favorites were the avocado toast, the strawberry/melon gazpacho, the green curry tofu vegetable stew (AMAZING) and the strawberry burrata peach salad. We can't wait to return.

We booked for 3 nights, and didn’t even stay 1 night. Checked in, realized how far apart everything was on the property (summer time the daytime temp was about 41celcius) and even though the resort had golf carts they would be driving around on the property you could potentially get a lift to the pool or spa etc, you would still need to contact them each time to arrange a ride. The room had no balcony so you were essentially trapped in your room. This resort was not for us. We definitely won’t be back. The spa was gorgeous but the massages were extremely expensive and weren’t worth the amount paid.

Gorgeous resort and very accommodating staff. Excellent wellness classes.

Drinks at the pool took a very long time to receive, they seemed to be very under staff. The pool waiter seemed to be having a bad day and was rude. Also ran out of hot water trying to take a bath, it ran our before it was half full.

We’ve been twice already. Always amazing and so peaceful. Our favorite place to stay!
- 5/5
The property itself blends beautifully with the mountains of Paradise Valley. The room had every amenity and convenience you would ever need. Everything is the highest quality, sheets, towels, robes (super soft). For me, what made the experience really special was the people that work there. Truly a unique and special experience. I’ll absolutely be returning! Special shout out to Charles at Jade Bar who navigated 5 of us with ease and grace!

Five Stars across the board!!!

I had not been to this property since 3017 and was surprised as it is a beautiful property. The suites were in good condition and the service and food were outstanding.

From check in to check out, every member of the staff was very accommodating. The room was very clean and had a very nice view. The staff at the pool and the valet staff that drove us to and from our room in golf carts were so friendly and very happy to help. Great experience!

Beautiful resort and amenities! Tucked in on the north side of Camelback mountain, Sanctuary is a wonderful place to relax, enjoy the day at the pool and SPA, and have an amazing meal at Elements!

- 5/5
Nestled up in the mountains in a beautiful spot lots of places to explore and walk. All the landscaping was beautifully kept. I miss it already.
- 3/5
Should be a very nice experience but poor service, nowhere near the 5 star price point, an extremely crowded pool and spa and very average f&b made this a somewhat disappointing stay although location and views are amazing.
- 5/5
Awesome boutique resort all around!
- 2/5
For hotel with the price tag x night this one has they room was very disappointing, there was a rug in the room in the leaving area that I wouldn’t even use at my dog’s patio. Furniture outdated, very limited dining options. For sure not a $1k x night worth hotel.
- 4/5
The maintenance should also replace on a regular schedule batteries for the fire alarm detectors. Ours started beeping in both rooms. But neighbors in close by rooms had the same problems at the same time. In the coming days we heard more beeping around in other parts of property. There is an in room safe on the top shelf of closet- but it is not bolted to the wall and could have been easily removed
- 3/5
For the price, it was disappointing. The room was fine but nothing special and the floors seemed dirty. The pool was very crowded - you can barely find a chair and some people had to wait. My room wasn’t serviced until extremely late in the afternoon and though they removed the used towels and bath mats, they did not replace them. The spa was very nice but one of the practitioners decided to leave the doors and shades open to the outside during a massage and there was a wedding going on (loud) as well as it was way too light in the room. For the luxury experience (and price) that they claim to have, I would recommend staying somewhere else.
- 4/5
We loved the seclusion and gorgeous setting. Pool is lovely and overall we liked our room. We were a little disappointed that with our casita we could hear everything in the adjoining space through the door that links the two rooms. I could hear normal volume full conversations. Given how quiet and serene everything else this was a let down. Also the water in our shower could have been a tad bit hotter. Appreciated being able to made espresso in our room each morning and listen to the birds chirp outside. The jade bar happy hour food was great and so was our breakfast sandwich from elements. The breakfast fried rice was decent but not our favorite. Room service was excellent. The pool snacks were a little disappointing but the staff wonderful. The bell guys were fantastic and the house car super convenient for off site dining. Our room wasn’t ready at check in time and we had to check back in a couple of times, we did arrive early but it still wasn’t ready at 4. It wasn’t a big deal for us to wait but I also feel like front desk staff didn’t even apologize or really offer us a place to go or options while we waited. We wandered and found our way to the bar. I enjoyed my time at the spa although I don’t think I actually got the pedicure that I booked given that it had some extras I didn’t get but the ladies were very sweet and attentive so not a big concern. My motherhood massage was great and the heated adjustable bed was so comfortable. Overall enjoyed our stay.
- 4/5
A maintenance worker eventually arrived and suggested that I should have known how to turn on the jacuzzi. When I asked about the pool lights, he stated there was a light available, but it turned out to be just a safety light. Unfortunately, no additional service was provided. This was especially disappointing given the property's otherwise immaculate condition.
- 3/5
The Casita we stayed in was run down for and old for an upscale resort. Needs updating and work. Windows don’t work, shower door leaks
- 5/5
1st class. Would recommend to everyone.
- 5/5
I loved the staff and the spa. All treatment providers were friendly.
- 5/5
beautiful resort, service is exceptional, they offer rides in their cars to drop you off and pick you up from the shopping center or restaurants. we used this service everyday. Restaurants, spa and pool are great. even played pickleball, wish we had time to try one of their yoga classes
- 5/5
The Sanctuary is a lovely property! Our suite was marvelous. Loved the pool and spa, and Elements dinner was delish. The only knocks were the step down areas in our suite - prefer to not have different levels - the natural stone steps in front of our entry were also potential trip hazards because there was a big gap right in the middle. The hot tub in the women’s spa area was out of commission. But other than those things, we loved everything about the property and our super spacious suite. The bed was SO comfortable, and the robes were plush and cozy. Would certainly stay here again.

Such an incredible experience for my wife and I for her birthday weekend. Room and views are incredible. Food amazing, and the spa was fantastic
- 5/5
Superb staff and attentiveness
- 4/5
The suite was mostly mechanically sound but for time to learn lighting, AC, and choosing not to pursue an improved mattress due to time constraints. However, none of above was a showstopper and mitigated by excellent staff, room design, and overall comfort.
- 4/5
Beautiful views. The room was comfortable. I found the property confusing to navigate. There should be a sign to mark where the lobby is. I wasted time parking, asking at the spa, and going back to my car to figure it out. The restaurant was delicious. The steam room was not hot enough. Staff were lovely.

Common areas, fitness center, spa, restaurant, etc. were immaculate. Housekeeping services for room were generally excellent, with occasional lapse. Overall, the people make Sanctuary Camelback a wonderful experience. Every member of the team works very hard to make sure their guests have the best experience possible. Even though the onsite restaurant is excellent, there was no "selling" when we asked for recommendations for dining in the area, and those recommendations turned out to be terrific dining experiences.

My husband and I were so excited to stay at this resort. I had seen it on Instagram and also saw its wonderful reviews. We were very disappointed with how dated this resort was. Our room was right next to a custodial closet where all the housekeeping would gather and get their materials. It was super loud and doors were constantly opening and shutting. We have stayed at almost all the resorts in Scottsdale and at this price point I was expecting top notch. The pool and hot tub both had a green tinge to it which means there was no way we were getting in. We ordered breakfast room service and not only did it take over an hour it was not even that great. A two egg breakfast with a glass of juice times two was over 100 dollars for something I could have made tasting way better at home. Overall not impressed and would not recommend this place. Staff was nice and grounds were pretty.

Beautiful and serene property

Loved our entire stay! Bell Staff is the best and deserve a lot of kudos. Food at Elements is wonderful and we loved the amenities.

I do think the property could use some updates. The spa for example could use some updates. Also, given the price I think a turndown service would also have been nice. Overall, nice hotel/ great staff!

Service was excellent. Always anticipating our needs and staff worked together really well. Rooms and food were fabulous also
- 3/5
My wife and I spent the weekend here to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary. We were slightly disappointed on a couple of different fronts. Our room wasn’t as clean as you’d expect with a 5 star resort. There was a broken tile in the shower, no chaise loungers on the outdoor patio, spa had ripped wallpaper. We ate at the Elements restaurant one night and had a reservation - we were seated next to a very large group and asked if we could be moved to a quieter table and was told we couldn’t be accommodated. Just disappointing all around experience - great views and location, but property fell short of expectations for the price.
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel. Staff were all friendly. We will be back
- 2/5
Old room in poor condition--terrible lighting and no deck or outside patio, Your pictures of the room and view are very deceiving. Other people -3- ran into the same problem.
- 5/5
I thank the staff for being so kind. This is hard to come by lately so it is very much appreciated.
- 5/5
Beautiful resort! Great location, lots of amenities, and very comfortable. We loved our stay here!
- 5/5
The property is beautiful with amazing views of Camel Back Mountain. The restaurants also had breathtaking views of the Mountain and beautiful landscape. The food and service was outstanding. The spa was wonderful and relaxing. The suites were spacious and beautifully decorated. The only issue is that it is not very easy to walk if you need assistance. Many stairs and hills.
- 3/5
When we arrived we were impressed with the warm welcome and the option to text for service or requests. However, though texting resulted in an immediate text response, there was zero service (requested ice….never came; requested coffee….no one showed; requested cups that they forgot to provide….nada). The room cleaning was below parr - didn’t refill coffee; promised fireplace fuel did not happen, items taken by their staff, from our room, and they placed outside door for 3 days. Food at the restaurant was mediocre, but the salad was fantastic. For $1,800 a night…we will consider other options next time.

I arrived at Sanctuary from Houston to celebrate my 40th birthday. I had no expectations other than a relaxing solo getaway. However, expectations were exceeded. Any staff member I came in contact with was so pleasant (even the grounds workers were polite "Good morning" ). The amenities, especially the Spa, PERFECT! I chose two treatments- Deep Serenity (full body exfoliation and yes I was nearly asleep during the session ) and the Hydrafacial (couldn't fight the sleep any longer ). The offerings of wellness classes such as Sunrise Meditation, Meditative Stretch, Aerial Yoga with Sound Meditation, and Pilates added the perfect touch to my rejuvenation retreat (some were for a charge at a reasonable rate but most are free). Now, on to the beautiful room I stayed in. The Casita King Mountain View exceeded what I thought. The photos on the website were enough to draw me in but being there it was all that I needed and more. I didn't even want to leave my room. The captivating mountain view with an early morning rise and sunset, incredible! I set my own personal tranquil vibe and now this birthday trip has been the best birthday to date! I have already decided to visit this resort again! Life is so busy but when you visit a place like Sanctuary you will leave better than you came.

The only complaint we had was the AC unit was way too loud Our favorite was the dining and pool side breakfast and lunch.

East pool is in poor condition with 2 torn umbrellas and broken tile. Rooms are decent but dark. Good views however. Priced equivalent to nearby 5 stars, but at least a notch or two below. Not a good value Major deficit is the food. Bar does have great drinks.

I had a pleasant stay at the sanctuary, if I had any expectations it exceeded them. From the moment I arrived to my departure, I was welcomed and thought of. The property is beautiful and the location. I enjoyed my suite and everything that came with it. As an Arizona native, it was home away from home. Thank you to the staff and everything that you do.

We decided to do a mini staycation at Sanctuary and it didn’t disappoint. Such a nice property and amenities. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The dining options were very good with other restaurants just a short drive away. Our room was perfect. Clean and a very comfortable bed. It was also wonderfully quiet. We’ll definitely be back.

This is my third stay at Sanctuary. My first was for my birthday in 2019. Then, we came last year for our anniversary and again this year for our anniversary. My spa experience was excellent. All of the staff at Sanctuary gave 5-star service. The only thing I would change about this visit is the Elements menu. During past visits, we couldn't get enough of the food. It was superb! This year, we ate there only one time and it was okay. Although, the braised collard greens were exceptional, the rest of the meal was average. Additionally, we passed on brunch because they didn't have some of the traditional staples we've enjoyed in the past. Otherwise, another amazing experience at Sanctuary!
