The Westin Palo Alto

Everything was really clean. The staff was the best, especially Caesar! One of the best experiences in a Westin. Breakfast was one of the best as well. The ice machine was broken....that was it. Nothing else was wrong or bad.

The room I booked was given away even though I called the property several weeks ahead of time, as well as nine in the morning the day of of arrival and then again when we arrived at 11 am and the room was not ready. We informed the staff at that time that we would be returning late, but when we returned, we found out our room had been given away. Extremely disappointing, although the manager was polite and apologetic and said he would arrange a refund….still waiting for word on that.

Room service was like takeout, delivered in bags. Shower had no pressure. Plugs and chargers did not work. It’s not a well-maintained property.

They gave us early check-in, an amazing first floor room, and the pool and the hot tub were perfect. I loved the on-site Café and bar, and the location is walking distance to downtown Palo Alto.

Room - very noisy in hallways at night Breakfast - good Room - clean, well kept. Took a while for air cond. to get going Eddie (?) at front desk forget about my special order of birthday champagne bottles for the room. He checked the notes to find out that I ordered it well in advance. I was very upset. He was very apologetic. Your office staff did a huge save by writing a personal note of apologies to my wife for ruining our entrance into your room. A special note goes a long way...most people don't need money compensation. The other two staff members at front desk (one tall/thin white youngster) (the other a short black youngster) were outstanding in service and all interactions with us. Hispanic lady at bar for breakfast time was rude.

Was hot and fresh decaf coffee. Dinner was next door and very tasty It was raining and our room was right next to a very long and loud dripping drain pipe. It dropped into a sloped extension to the patio.

Dear [Hotel Management / Customer Service Team], I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the unacceptable experience I had during my recent stay at your property. It was genuinely one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a hotel — and I travel frequently around the world. Upon arrival, I was asked to provide a $200 incidental deposit. I did not have cash on hand, and my card was rejected — not due to my bank or account, but due to your payment system. This is not the first time this has happened; I had the exact same issue last year at the same property. After checking in and going out for an event at Stanford, I returned late around 11 PM, exhausted and jet-lagged, only to find that my room key no longer worked. When I went to the front desk, I was shocked to learn that they had canceled my key simply because I had not yet provided the $200 in cash. I explained clearly that I was staying for three nights and would settle the amount the next morning. Instead of showing basic courtesy or understanding, the staff brought a manager who was unbelievably rude and condescending. His attitude was appalling — his only concern was the money. The way he spoke was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. It is disgraceful that a supposedly reputable hotel would treat guests in such a demeaning manner over $200, especially when I had already paid for my stay. I left the property the next day and chose to stay elsewhere in Washington, D.C., at the Fairmont, where professionalism and respect still mean something. The entire experience left me disgusted. The lack of empathy, flexibility, and basic hospitality from your staff is unacceptable. I will never stay at your hotel again, and I will make sure to share my experience widely so others are aware of the level of service they can expect.

I love the walkability to shops. The hotel is clean and secure. I felt safe traveling alone staying at the hotel. Room and memories were excellent. Westin is definitely my go to hotel for traveling.

After talking to three people, who promised action, our safe was not fixed or replaced. Our room was not cleaned the first day we were there. The gates to the parking garage didn’t work right, and they finally just left them open. We stay there every year, and this time was definitely not good!

The perfume/scent sprayed in all the common areas is extremely unpleasant. Why spray artificial scent in the air at all?

Location, staff, the gym. The room was great! It could be only my perception, but the pool didn’t seem inviting to be used. They have a series of tables close to the lobby area, but it’s only to serve the cafeteria there, despite of the fact breakfast was served there. We had some days we ordered food and we couldn’t eat there. There is a place in upstairs to eat if you don’t want to make your bedroom smell like fast food, but it was not comfortable. Also, for some reason, I thought breakfast was complimentary (my fault) and it costed $28.

The bed, although lower than we've ever had a bed, was VERY comfortable. Rooms and bathroom were clean. We really were disappointed to have expected the room we rented to be available when we checked in at the time we had said we would arrive. It was not. So, instead of having a corner junior suite overlooking the courtyard, we had a 2-room overlooking roof tiles and machinery like the generator, etc. Ugly, so we kept the curtains closed whenever we were in the rooms.

My husband and I had a great stay. It’s walkable to the train, has convenient parking on the property and walkable to downtown PA. Very clean and beds are comfortable. I actually want to go and buy the Westin mattress now.

Very comfortable stay yesterday although the pillows were WAY soft. I would suggest at least one of the pillows be firmer for at least some support. All in all very satisfied with Westin.

Everything was clean/nice as expected. The reason for the not so good review is at 1:15 am we had a fire alarm and had to evacuate the building for approximately 30min. When it was over and the fire department turned off the alarm no reason/explanation was given. I am all for safety. But this seemed to be a malfunction.

I had problems with people upper level a lot of noise by walking or moving furniture, needs more clear directions - room directions to each branch of the level. overall we enjoyed our stay.

CLEAN AND QUIET.

We stay at the Westin Paloma Alto every year when we drive down from Oregon. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. We’re happy with the breakfast room remodel. Problems: ice machines are hard to work or don’t work and trash bins are missing from the garage. Great location - walk to town, Stanford and shopping center! Oh, no newspapers in hotel!

Loved the elegant surroundings, as well as the friendliness and kind hospitality of the staff!

The suite I had reserved was not available, they instead put in me in two adjoining rooms. The bathroom barn door in one did not close, very strange. In addition, when my son was napping housekeeping kept knocking on the door even though I had the do not disturb sign up. There was some mixup with the room change, but it was not a great experience.

One of our best family stays. We will definitely be returning. We got connecting rooms and it was perfect for our family of four. All of the hotel staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The room service was also delicious.

Stayed here for one night and it was smooth and easy check in as well as checking out. I love the noon check out time! The shower and tub easily the best part of the room! Comfortable bed and awesome TV!

The Westin proved to be an ideal choice. The team was kind, courteous and professional. The room was roomy, clean and comfortable. Room service was timely and convenient. We will stay again.

The close proximity to Stanford made the hotel an easy walk to reunion events and the football game. Having a shuttle for Dinner on the Quad was an added bonus that means we will be back in 5 years.

Check in was easy. The bed and pillow was comfortable. Check out was easy. We forgot a toothbrush and they sent up a whole bag of toiletries. Snacks available for purchase. Easy access to parking garage. Great proximity to Stanford hospital for an early morning surgery.

Disappointing. This is a Comfort Inn with a Westin sign out front and triple the room rates, thanks to its primo location near Stanford. Tiny registration desk with disorganized staff, broken elevators, silly breakfast buffet that doesn't even match a Hilton Gardens but there is a charge, dismal pool area. Marriott should rebrand this with a lower flag like a Courtyard.

Westin, Palo Alto, is nothing like the one in SF. My stay in sf was amazing which is why i chosetheone in Palo Alto. Staff cer professional and polite no complaints there. But i had expected so much more. Small room service menu, very small. No restaurant. Ased about champagne and flowers for my lady's birthday. To NO avail.

Husband in Stanford, needed some rest before driving home to Santa Cruz. Found it to be quite & comfortable
