This is a modest motel with some odd inconsistencies room to room. Whatever, the big plus of Oak Motel is its location location location. Nice little swimming pool too.
- 3/5
The breakfast was nothing special.
- 3/5
The air conditioner wasn’t working.

Pleasant.

The location on El Camino is extreme convenient and near restaurants and all that Palo Alto has to offer. You can’t beat the price of this motel in expensive Palo Alto. The room is well equipped with kettle, microwave, refrigerator and shampoo and coffee. There is a buffet breakfast in the morning, which I have missed in the past. There is also a pool and free parking with plenty of space. (Some El Camino motels charge for parking) I have stayed here several times, so I must be satisfied. The key card is hard to use sometimes.

This is a very budget motel that is basically no more than a bed and bathroom. It's clean, but there are signs of aging everywhere from the toilet, shower, curtains, bedding, furniture. The room had a very large new TV. Check in was fine, but the lady was more interested in her phone call than in answering any of my easy questions about check out and breakfast. Breakfast was ok, mostly packaged breads, halfway decent coffee - served European style on a small buffet in the lobby room. Lots of parking outside, and the A/C worked well. This motel is a fraction of the price of others right across the streets, so it you are willing to accept that it's clean but not very nice, it's a good budget option in the area.

Staff is very friendly! No problems!
- 4/5
It was clean and well maintained. Not too far from Stanford stadium. The check in desk was super friendly and even let us check in earlier. While the place was clean it did have a pungent smoke smell. Which was not ideal

The staff was very helpful, friendly, and understanding when I had issues with the key cards and retrieving personal items from the room that I had forgotten. I was grateful to have received an upgraded room on the lower level. I enjoy staying here more than where I am living. Carpet is always better, when available.
- 5/5
So the bathroom is all little dated but the surrounding area is great and the place is quiet. There was a giant 65 in tv in the room so if you like to watch tv this is the hotel for you.
- 4.5/5
The room was nice and comfortable for the night. The location was not that bad, it was a really good location. The A/C was amazing at night it was a really good temperature. One thing I didn't like was the room wasn't ready when we got to the hotel. We wanted to get ready by taking a shower but the bathroom wasn't clean yet, the trash wasn't taken out, they told us to wait 20 minutes and we did but the room still wasn't ready.

It's clean, the staff was accommodating and polite. I had no trouble parking. If you are in and out for the night this place is fine.
- 0.5/5
I didn't like anything. The iron was broken, water was leaking like a faucet. The lobby attendant repeatedly gave me faulty cards and I couldn't open the door. The towels were not clean.
- 5/5
All was good.

This is one place I look forward to staying and better than where I am at. The thermostat must remain on for it to work.

lots of parking, a really old hotel, but it was clean. I had appt at Stanford Medical and it was convenient. Lots of more expensive hotels right next to it. For the cost, it was a good deal. Just know it is old. It worked for a night.
- 5/5
All's good.
- 4/5
yes
- 5/5
It’s an old building, but clean and very comfortable. I always stay there when I go to the Bay Area.
- 5/5
The thing that I value the most in hotels is that they are quiet. This hotel was extremely quiet.
- 5/5
Parking outside my room. Lot was very well lit, in a good Palo Alto neighborhood.
- 4/5
Ac and heat worked. Good parking. Cozy sleep.
- 4/5
I have not been here in a while, but it is still a good place to stay. It would be better sharing a room with the right person. There are soft chairs and enough space for extra items from home. There is a wide screen television in front of the bed and a table in front, which can be moved to either side. Bring a DVD player with an HDMI cable, if possible because there is nothing really good on television now and the older shows are much better. The maids should set the clocks to the correct time, even if it is just the microwave. They usually miss some spots while cleaning and I find some trash behind or under items. I like the early check-in time of 1:00 P.M., rather than 3:00 P.M. at most places and that we can leave the key card in the room if checking out early.
- 5/5
Great cheap place to stay. Very clean and nice staff.
- 5/5
It was clean . Parking spaces good. Feel safe. Cleaning staff very nice. Air conditioning and heating working properly. Good amenities.. bathroom may need few upgrade but nothing mayor.. we where there for a family trip to the hospital we love it because is super close to the hospital food and market and the place is really quite. I DO RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. AND FOR SURE COME BACK.
- 4/5
Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
- 5/5
Clean and easy to get to.
- 5/5
Large room, clean, patking right in front, nice location.
- 3/5
I have rented off and on for about 10 years.
- 2/5
good location, my room smells like previous occupant smokes tho
- 2/5
Very dirty. Dried boogers on the wall. Drywall tape peeling from the ceiling. Looks nothing like the pictures on Expedia. Also woke up with a bug crawling on my arm. I will never go back.

Room 209 - Toilet is loose and needs maintenance. Clock radio is junk and needs to be replaced. Floor near bathroom is falling apart.
- 5/5
Everthing was good oly the AC disnt working good
- 1/5
Toilet was broke, sheets were dirty, electrical outlets didn’t work, always had a issue with room keys
- 5/5
Great value, nice staff!
- 5/5
Nice hotel
- 4/5
Advised receptionist regarding water around the toilet while checking out
- 2/5
Check in was good. Hotel is very old and the floor was cracked the bathroom sink was rusted and the toilet paper holder was broken.
- 5/5
Had a fantastic experience at Oak Motel. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect. Everything was well-maintained and made for a relaxing visit. Highly recommend!
- 1/5
Check in staff was friendly but the room was dirty and in need of repairs. The floor was broken in several places, the toilet roll holder was broken, the mismatched furniture looked like it was pieced together from thrift shops. The bathroom was dirty with hairs in the tub and on the floor and I squashed at least 5 ants before I even used the toilet. For the same price, I switched to a different motel down the street that was clean and included breakfast.
- 1/5
It was close to Stanford medical which was nice, but it was so dirty. I did not want to shower it was that dirty. There was hair all in the bathroom a booger on the tissue box. There was something on the bed i have no idea what is was. I have pictures, but for some reason i cant download them?
- 3/5
The motel was in an area with a lot of other hotels, so that was nice. The staff was nice and it was an easy check in and out. The stay was just for sleep while my sister was in the hospital. It was nice to have a fridge and a microwave in the room, but felt like the air couldn’t keep the room cool, and it was loud. I had read that the mattresses were creaky from other reviews, but didn’t expect them to be as loud as they were! Anytime anyone would move or get out of bed, it would wake the other person up. Lots of banging noises outside our room one of the nights, like they were fixing something at 9pm. We didn’t use the pool. It was about 10-15minutes to the Stanford Medical center.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 1/5
Terrible customer service. Water on the bathroom floor, people knocking at my door at 2am. Dirty towels…I will never ever stay there again
- 5/5
nice rooms, nice staff
- 5/5
Exactly what we were looking for. Very seamless and good service
- 5/5
Good
- 4/5
Had trouble getting in the room with the key but that was taken care of. Late at night there was construction across the street until around 11:00. Dead End Street so no continuous traffic. Overall a good place to stay. Unusual to see a Bible in the dresser
- 4/5
It was a good stay
- 5/5
In general is ok
- 2/5
Air/Heater very old, Very noise, not working Properly. Curtains did not close completely, allowing light from outside to enter the room.
- 4/5
It was great for what we needed
- 3/5
Room rate was expensive for the quality of the room needs a remodel or an upgrade to bring it up to the standard of other hotels in the area
- 4/5
Overall stay was fine, room service was good with friendly maids ( they spoke some English). Reasonable price. Easy access to restaurants and shopping. Their soap could be of better quality. Lot better than a Motel 6! But no breakfast or restaurant on site. Has a pool!
- 4/5
easy to park
- 3/5
Nice pillows. Heated floor by bathroom was nice.
- 5/5
Great little area around the hotel. clean quiet !
- 1/5
This is a run down, old motel. Avoid it if you can.
- 5/5
I liked everything about the property.
- 3/5
Rooms were clean, beds were comfy.
- 4/5
Close to Stanford, super clean
- 2/5
No coffee anywhere on the property. First Room that i was given wasnt clean or ready to occupy. 2nd room wasnt much better.
- 2/5
The big problem for me was the terrible WiFi. I was staying in Palo Alto for business and needed WiFi with real bandwidth. The WiFi at this Hotel is simply insufficient.
- 2/5
Me tossing and turning all night long.
- 4/5
The room was reasonably priced and looked like it had been remodeled. Good value.

- 1/5
Room was dirty and unsanitary
- 3/5
Basic place. It was adequate. Wifi was slow if you are on the 2nd floor.
- 2/5
This place needs a major update. It was clean and the TV worked great, but the bed was creaky and 2 hard pillows. The toilet was low to the ground and the floor near the bathroom and closet was cracking as I think the layer underneath was probably rotten. There was a refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine, but they only provided "instant" coffee packets. There was no USB plugin in the entire pace and the wake-up call we requested never happened. There was a great place to eat across the street (Dinah's Poolside Restaurant) and we were wishing we had booked a room over there.
- 5/5
It was a one night stay.. very reasonable price. They give what they offer. Very quiet place to stay a rest very comfortable beds we stay in a to beds room. Really appreciate that they had microwave, fridge and coffee maker in the room. That help us out a lot with our daughter foods. FAN AND AC Unit worked really good..Really friendly people working in the front desk. Room it was clean.. It may have little older furniture and structures but do not interfere with a Good overall experience.. Fully Recommended.
- 4/5
I loved that the floors were not carpeted. It made the room feel cleaner. The bathroom fixtures were older, which I didn’t mind but I could have done without the cockroach I found in the bathroom. The area outside in front of our door smelled like pee. It looked clean though, I guess maybe it came from people, letting their dogs pee in a patch of dirt out front.
- 4/5
nice location and decent price but some rooms are good while others aren't
- 4/5
my first room was really nice but i had to move to a second room that wasn't as nice so i left
- 4/5
Very quiet. I am only there 6p-6a. Has just what I need.
- 5/5
Very nice stay and quite
- 3/5

- 1/5
extremely dirty furniture was torn up
- 5/5
The gentleman at the front desk was really nice and helpful.
- 3/5
The room had a musty smell. Couldn't get rid of it.
- 1/5
bedding was duty and bathroom as well
- 1/5
Multiple powerbars are plugged into the wall outlet. One powerbar had a second powerbar plugged into it. The smoke detector was in the desk drawer. It did not have a battery in it.
- 2/5
Room floors were dirty, towels had stains, hair everywhere including under the blankets, fridge was dirty inside, Front office called me saying i needed to pay more money after i had paid in full on hotels.com. Did have a big screen tv though.
- 5/5
Perfect for a few nights. Better than expected based on the price… and the other reviews. It was a clean room with a nice big TV and a working air conditioner, what more could you ask for! A fridge… and a microwave… that’s what more you could ask for, and they got it! Hospitality was great as well. Thanks for the stay!
- 3/5
Ok location price is lower than most surrounding rooms. Just a 60 older built motel
- 5/5
Very Nice Staff and rooms. Lobby Guest Computers need upgrading old and SLOW
- 2/5
Pice point was more than half others. Its a room. Clean as a 1960 motel could be
- 1/5
The front lobby was locked and only had a little slot to talk with the attendant. When I went into the hotel room the bathroom was filthy. Urine on the toilet seat and something disgusting in the tub. They did give me a new room but seriously. This was absolutely unacceptable.
- 2/5
Run down property that should be bulldozed. Lukewarm hot water, beat up furniture, no bedspread, mold around the bathroom windows, cracked and squeaky floor. Dark, depressing room. Walkway between rooms lists toward the front. Cracks in the ceiling. Not a good sign that you have to pass your credit card through a slot while you stand outside. This motel has seen better days...depressing room, so a great place to commit suicide. Weird because the room has a humungous TV and a microwave big enough to cook a turkey, even a decent size mini fridge. What do you expect for $91?
- 5/5
The room was very clean, and the neighborhood quiet. Would stay again. A great value for the Palo Alto area.
- 4/5
Was in great location.
- 5/5
Loved the stay!!!
- 5/5
We loved our stay at the Oak Motel in Palo Alto. Such a beautiful area, close to all. The motel rates are reasonable and the rooms are very comfortable.
- 5/5
If you're looking for affordable and quiet place to stay this is the one.. Although the motell looks old, it i very clean The staff are very accommodating, nice and flexible to your needs. As long as there are availabkw rooms, they'll even allow you to check in early.
- 5/5
The oak motel is an older bare Bones motor inn but the Price is Right it's impeccably clean and though it's a bit on the older side everything works so if you need a place to stay and you don't need fancy this is a great place
- 1/5
They don’t do room service everyday… I ask for a toilet paper and they told me to go to the office and get it … first time there and last one … I will not recommend at all
- 1/5
Not clean. Can hear people walking upstairs. Ceiling in the bathroom was cracked and had a hole.
- 1/5
Ants all over my room and on the bed had to switch 3 rooms bugs everywhere
- 2/5
No first floor rooms but only a few cars in parking lot? Heater did not work on a night in the 30s - hair in bathroom- broken sink fixtures in bathroom - left over shaving hair/foam…never again
- 2/5
Front desk person was very kind. Bathroom was gross, toilet lid had urine stains on the under side of the lid. Mini Fridge made noise throughout the night. Not a great stay
- 3/5
Turning on the heater smelled like cigarettes, plus side love the tub and the size of room is commendable
- 1/5
Not satified
- 5/5
Exceptional customer service!
- 1/5
not much to like. way over priced for such an unkept hotel.
- 2/5
Check in: not allowed in the lobby. I had to go to a window and I could only hear the reception person through a mail slot….that should tell you about setting the tone.
- 5/5
Excellent service
- 3/5
Second story View of hotel grounds across the street beautiful. No smoke alarms-just spot in ceiling where they should be. Room next to water heater. Sounded like freight train starting about midnight for few hours.
- 4/5
This property is in a great location, an easy bike ride (2.5 miles) from Stanford. It has easy parking and there is a very nice moderately priced restaurant (Dinah's Poolside Restaurant) right across the street. The property is moderately run down but adequately clean. There is a pool which I have never seen anyone use. I have stayed here several times and have never felt unsafe. The price of base $108 per night is hard to beat in the area. The front desk area is not used; the front desk people 'greet' you through a tiny little slot in the wall indicating that maybe they don't feel safe. Overall, an excellent choice if you need a relatively inexpensive adequate place to stay in this area. It's my 'go-to' in Palo Alto.
- 3/5
The beds were comfortable but had foot prints or some kind of black marks all around the bottom/lower portion of the bed. The walls in the room were dirty, such as coffee splattered on the wall near the small coffee maker and in other spots as well. The bathroom seemed clean enough but the wall near the bottom of the tub was rotted/broken out and definitely needs to be repaired. We did stay but would be more careful next time when booking a room online.
- 2/5
Lights didn't work right, tv was terrible. Very spotty reception. A/C was poor and blew up the curtains. Furniture was terrible. Looked about 80 years old. As usual you get what you pay for, if you're lucky.
- 3/5
The room smelled and a lot of stains on the carpet and the beds, they won't provide you towels unless they get the used ones back first...lack of English speaking staff....
- 4/5
Asked for extra towels and the staff didn't provide it unless they get back the used towels!!! The refrigerator was good the mattresses were comfortable, a lot of parking spots and a heated pool...
- 1/5
This was definitely one of the worst properties I’ve stayed in for the money. Let’s start with the roaches in the bathroom every day. The furniture was extremely old and damaged. I never seemed to get towels or toilet paper (however when I asked housekeeping she was extremely nice and provided items). Air conditioner was filthy and made me wonder what air I was breathing. The bed was fairly comfortable and the tv was huge. Internet seemed to work ok although it dropped me on multiple occasions. The location was great but I thought a property in Palo Alto would have been a lot cleaner and more up to date.
- 4/5
Room is dated but didn’t expect much for the price. It was clean but again just old. Nothing overly off putting.
- 5/5
It was a good stay. Everything was fine. At that price, you can't beat it.
- 1/5
This property has to the words of my stays, AC units not working, horrible bed sheets old, furniture in the room ancient, laps in room terrible condition. The room smells as you walk in.
- 3/5
Lobby was closed with no access day or night not very inviting. The AC in my room greeted me with a pool/large puddle of water on the floor when I woke up the next morning. Other that that Linen & Towels were wonderful. They were very helpful to me & I appreciate it very much.
- 4/5
It was good . For the money, the best have ever stayed at . Room was clean and inviting . The three-day stay peaceful.
- 5/5
It is a nice quiet hotel and convenient and not overpriced.
- 5/5
Amazing stay right next to the pool! Checkin was very easy and fast!
- 3/5
For the price, I was expecting more. Nicer. Updated.
- 1/5
鍵が2度の故障で締め出しを食らいました
- 1/5
Eww. Fridge in disrepair, stains in the tub, ac turning off on its own, and the stupid key did not work after the first time. I kept going back for him to fix it. Hated this place
- 4/5
Not cleanest place we’ve ever stayed but for the price it can’t be beat. We enjoyed eating across the street. Oaks trees are lovely and unique.
- 4/5
We spent one night it was adequate for The price
- 4/5
The hotel was fine. When we booked the hotel on hotels.com it said it included breakfast for both guests for both nights. Upon arrival the manager at the front desk told us they don’t do breakfast. We had booked it because the breakfast was convenient and would save some money. Instead breakfast was inconvenient and cost extra money! So that part of our stay was not great. Other than that a totally acceptable motel for our needs.
- 4/5
Good no frills motel. Good for the price. Great location for shows at Shoreline. Only negative was that the AC was very loud and there was no continual mode where it stayed on all the time. So it would shut off intermittently and then fire up loudly about every 15 minutes. Was a little tough to get used to overnight. Again, most everything was good. There's a great hotel pool side restaurant (Dinah's) just across the street too.
- 1/5
Room was disgusting. There was a divot in the floor outside of bathroom to trip on. There was hair in the tub. there was hair and yellow stains on the walls in bathroom and main room and by bed. The carpet was filthy and had a large wet spot near bed. Was grossed out upon entry and throughout stay, keeping all bags up high as there are likely bugs too. The man at front desk told me I did not have a reservation when I arrived even though I had already paid through your website. He was rude, and inhospitable. I was able to see in neighboring room being cleaned upon check out and it was very nice so the rooms vary hugely and he gave me a bad room maybe because of reserving thru hotels.com instead of directly? Very rude! very filthy! unbelievable!
- 5/5
The beds where so comfortable! The service was extremely friendly
- 1/5
It wasn't good when we entered the room, and it was to late to cancel to get our money back. It was very sloppy, outside as well as inside the room. They may have cleaned it but it didn't look clean. I looked at the mattress at the head of the bed and it was dirty, dust, hair, little black spots, yuck! We were there for a medical appointment in town it was pretty close to the hospital. Needless to say, we will never stay there again. When we checked out, I did tell the lady at the desk all my disappointments and she told me that she was sorry and she would tell her husband. One more thing, I found a pair of dirty underwear in the closet on the floor, that were not ours and that was gross!!! :( PS... I wish I would've taken pictures, but unfortunately I didn't!
- 2/5
By the time I arrived to check in, the front desk was locked, which I understand. The young lady checked me in through a small window slot and I made my way to my room. She was pleasant and helpful. Having checked in pretty late, I don't know if I was put in a last minute room, but it is not ideal. Walls and door are dirty, things are broken and chipped, there is a stale smell that I can't identify. The only redeeming quality was the kind staff member.
- 1/5
I explain to this manager my frustration and he said he does not know why I say they never call me because he is always there in the afternoon, I tell him I usually call in the morning. He then asked me why did I take their towels, all of their towels? I explain to him I was there less than 8 hours in that room, I came to sleep and go to work, I never even touched their towels. He said no no no you take ALL the towels you guys always do. Now why the heck would I take a towel from a hotel! He said yea yea you do. I got tired of all of his accusations, so I asked him who can o dispute this with he says no one. I asked him can I speak to a manager and his reply was no I am. So now I’m getting even more frustrated and asked if I can get a contact number or email for the owner and he says no, not here. This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered with. Whoever this manager is should not be a manager at any property.
- 3/5
I like the layout. Location has really nice playgrounds short drive. I am disappointed there was no breakfast. If I search Expedia for a hotel with breakfast, I expect only hotels currently serving breakfast to show up. The facility needs to remove it from their listing. The walls have something...maybe food splash related on walls. Walls should be at least spot cleaned after every guest.
- 3/5
Need more work on cleanliness. Bed sheets were dirty and stinky. Not many towels as well.
- 1/5
The pillows were too thin. At request for a extra pillow they did not have any. Dropped glasses by the nightstand and found an old condom wrapper. And to top it off on the foot rail entering the restroom a screw was popping out and gave my foot a really good cut. Would not recommend this hotel at all. Brought this to staff attention and the man just said okay.
- 2/5
Oak motel is the hub for bad act
- 2/5
This place is not good at all. Run down, dirty carpets and stains on the bed linen. Being located in Palo Alto, i was very disappointed in the price.
- 5/5
Overall this place is quiet and cozy, very close to get any essentials needed food, banking and groceries. Rooms needs to be updated as it’s getting worn out. Not sure if they’re upgrading this place, as the upstairs walk path area needs fixing up.
- 3/5
Place is clean but run down. The upstairs walkway looks like it will fall off the building. They have a nice swimming pool but it’s ice cold . The breakfast they offer is breads, waffles, cold cereal and coffee, OJ. This place is ok for a nights stay and the price is ok. My front window was completely broken with a large crack. Very dangerous . Toilet was not bolted to the floor, very wobbly. They need to wash their towels with fabric softener, they felt like sand paper. One positive note was they have very nice large tv’s.
- 1/5
Hotel is not in any way shape good. No heat, shower had no hot water, only hot was from sink, just very very run down and not worth the nightly fee (which was terribly high)
- 4/5
Nice basic hotel. The service was great. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was very basic.
- 2/5
I liked the convenience of having to sleep in my clothes as i was too nervous to touch the sheets. Was easy to get up & leave the second i woke up.
- 1/5
This motel is way over priced for the conditions of the room I had. The light and fan in the bathroom didn’t work, the room smelled terrible and one of the outlets wouldn’t work unless then light switch was on so I had to unscrew the light bulb in order to sleep while charging my phone. The room felt like it was storage for extra furniture because there was a bedside table tucked under a desk that was pretty unusable. The carpet just looked old and gross. Ended up cutting my reservation early to find another place to stay!
- 3/5
Easy check in. Quiet setting. Close to Stanford Medical Center which was the purpose of our trip. Rooms were dated but clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast - adequate - don't expect more. Presentation of breakfast choices, clean and orderly. Restaurants nearby. Pricey but probably not for the area. Friendly staff.
- 2/5
Furniture was old and beds just fair. First room was not nice at all but they moved me to a different room and the experience was better.
