For budget prices, I expect a budget hotel, and this place delivered quality for the price I paid. The location is sketchy and felt somewhat unsafe; the alley behind the hotel is filled with trash and debris. However the hotel room itself had plenty of space and basic amenities that met all needs for a single night stay. The bed was quite comfortable, though the pillows were hard and flat (glad I brought my own from home). The room's cleanliness was up to standard. I appreciated the in-room microwave and refrigerator. Value for dollar, Continental Lodge wins, in spite of its location.

The worst thing was the location, prostitutes working the block outside and smashed windows on cars parked in the parking lot and around the street, and loud music until 3am, made us feel uncomfortable!! But the service was excellent, property felt secure, and it was a nice room for the money with a decent location.

I booked this for an employee who were servicing this area and it was close to the job site. I am not familiar with Oakland so I booked based on reviews. O.M.G. I was embarrassed as well as worried for my employees. They sent pictures of night women, a lot of homelessness and overall sketchy neighborhood. no way of really knowing the eco-standards at the motel - and completely out of their control - the street/corner that the motel is on seems to have become of an active "stroll" for prostitution - so the john traffic - mostly in vehicles - and all the associated noise - carries on very late into the night - sadly - at least for those trying to sleep !

I stay here often. It’s a little Roudy on the weekends. Noise from the street. But most of the time it’s quite and no issues. Room are clean and bed is comfortable. Ac have a fan only mode, drowns out the outside noise at night.

The rooms were surprisingly updated. It was clean and had lots of outlets and good lighting and AC. Wifi was strong. The only downside is parking is slightly tight, but there were always enough spaces for everyone. We usually stay here when visiting our relative at Berkeley.

I really enjoyed having the ice machine and also there was a vending machine that I used. I was visiting a family member at the hospital all day and this hotel is right down the street from that hospital. I came a long way to see my family member and I do not own a car. All I had to do is jump on one bus and I was there after a very long day at the hospital all I wanted to do was rest.

This hotel is excellent with a very reasonable rate. The room has all the amenities you would expect in a 3-star hotel, including a frig, microwave, coffeemaker, and toiletries. There is free parking as well. The only issue is that is on International Blvd which is not the safest street in Oakland. There was a shooting outside at 5 am. As long as you aren't walking around at night, and need a clean, reasonable, well appointed room, I would highly recommend this place.

Booked a room for a a friend to stay in for a night, made sure to fill out the credit card authorization so they wouldn't need to show the card at check in. My friend was told they'd need my ID, I assume to verify it matches the name on my credit card, so I sent pictures to them. They then told my friend they would need a picture of my credit card, front and back for their records. The request was unnecessary as all CC data was on the authorization with consent to charge immediately and for all costs. They were rude to my friend completely ruining the gift that was supposed to be the stay. Best Western saved the day and used the same authorization without any fuss. I couldn't believe the audacity of any business to ask for pictures of a credit card. Beyond inconvenient, won't stay here in the future.

I did not feel safe asking them to be quite or even leaving my room after dark. The staff denied my request to have an extra 15 minutes past check out due to sleeping in as i didn't get to sleep until 5:00am. The location was convenient due to my boyfriends temporary work site and we had hoped to stay here once a week for the next few weeks but NEVER AGAIN.

These people from India are crazy as hell when I went to check out the India guy was like I need to check your room now mind you I'm a 62 years old very clean wel dress clean cut ✂️ after 2nd days the room was still very clean except for the bathroom towels the at the front desk said the towels were too dirty lol nerve in my life have I ever been told if the next I get the towels too dirty again I would be charged $20.00 to clean the towels needless to say I wouldn't be going back there if they paid me lol WOW THATS ALL I SAY people from India are some very super hella RUDE people it's like they're doing you a favor No Customer service skills at all none I got to stay away from them India hotels they won't be getting another dime from me ever #hellarudepeople

Over all the lodge was a very clean comfortable place to stay. The neighborhood is very sketchy and should be treated with caution , I grew up in Oakland ca in the early 80s and 90s never have i seen Oakland look so trashed , and garbage looks like a state turned to the nation’s garbage dump. Other then that I would stay a this location again for sure ....

Hotel was clean but this is definitely family owned and operated. They do NOT allow guests. Check in process was long and unnecessary. They give you keys that preassigned. They scrutinize every guest that comes in. I have to admit, I was meeting here to hookup with someone but still, I want my privacy.

The two men working the front desk were rude. Hole in the wall motel and giving me a hard time about my checkin and deposit. Sheets had burns holes in them and the towels had stains on them. Not worth $100 at all more like $40. You could hear the people next door and downstairs. You’d think you were in the same room with them. Terrible !

I love this place clean and nice. I always stay here when i come to Oakland. I notice yesterday in my room they have upgraded the bathroom sink and put new appliance in as well. I will continue to stay here when i travel to Oakland. Be aware rooms book quickly!

They chgd my credit card & i paid CASH! I had to tell them that they dbl chgd me! Blow dryer didnt work & shower was CraZy. Would NOT recommend nor would i EVER come here again! Watch your charges! Sure glad i asked for a receipt! Ugh

The Motel is fenced; thus all the stuff happening outside the fence can be easily ignored. The Motel is located at an intersection that is busy. I believe in the two nights I was there, I only saw one lady of the night. She was crossing the street; so I cannot not assume exactly what she was doing out there. The area around the Motel is under construction & noisy. Therefore, getting in & out of motel was a problem; but once I drove in, I did not see anything to report about. Inside, the owners keep the areas clean. The Attendants were all nice to me. I did not like holding $100.00 deposit on my debit card for 7 days; but he told me if I paid cash, he would have refunded the deposit right away upon check out. I could have gone to 7-Eleven to get ash out of the ATM; but I was too tired to be bothered. It’s been 3 days. I am still waiting for the money to be refunded back to my account. Let’s give it 4 more days! My room was fresh & clean. The bed comfortable. All amenities in the room were as shown online. The internet was acceptable. Not slow as described By some online. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because I didn’t like holding my deposit for 7 days; and I found one wash cloth that was clean, but stained. I returned it to the Attendant and told him that was unacceptable. Other than that, if need to rest, I will return to this motel.

Room had fresh paint, bed looked clean, parking would be a problem if the place was filled up. The TV sucked with hardly any channels. No free breakfast. It's in a tough neighborhood so don,t ffeel comfortable at night. We found a live walking roach on the ceiling. The card key worked well. They make you give them 100 dollar deposit which annoyed the crap out of me. And they wouldn,tgive an extra key. Stingy on towels and toiletries. The price is high for what you get.

The location will not take credit card authorizations from Hotels.com. They threatened to charge additional nights (outside the Credit Card Authorization) for days that were never Reserved or asked for.

I do not recommend this property. I made a reservation with the hotel and they cancelled it 4pm that afternoon. I was only given a vague email stating it had been cancelled but did not express why. I arrived at the hotel and they told me that they had given away my room and that I could no longer stay there. I was not given a call or a clear warning of notification. This hotel is rude and inconsiderate and I do not recommend staying here.

This is my second time to stay here . It was ok and clean thou the wi-fi is not as strong as before because my room was on the far end .

Turned us away because we had a debit cards. At ,8:,30pm in the middle of Oakland,CA. Who only takes me sad. And the place was a dive on the outside. Not a mile from the city center NOT 1.6.

Clean and renovated the beds are a bit high and the air on noisy.

The room is huge , very clean and bed is comfortable .I had the best 7 hours sleep and also the wi-fi is excellent. Thou neighborhood is not ok because of the street construction and a lot of homeless around .

Property was very clean and well maintained. Internet was too slow to be useful

The place was very clean but it did have a tiny smoky smell to it. Not sure if we got the non-smoke room tho.

Not in the best neighborhood, but there aren't a lot of choices in the general area. The friendly and helpful staff were great, and the room was fine and very clean. I will stay here again on my next trip to Oakland.

Everything about the hotel was perfect. The only reason I rated it slightly less was the neighborhood, which they cannot control. Fantastic value, would stay again!

First, it is in a bad part of town, did not feel comfortable leaving my car even in their parking lot or sleeping in their rooms. Second, the place is run down and management unhelpful and rude, after a long car trip my mother needed to use a restroom well the manager took his time checking us in and when he finally told she where the bathroom was he gave the wrong directions to it. The whole experience was horrible. Do NOT stay here.

Need more parking lot.
