Just a very old property go for the rooms with full kitchens even if you dont need it. Stay away from room 20 it isnt nice at all. Bring extra bedding if needed, the ones they have are very thin. Says all rooms are renovated but the renovation was done poorly. If you ask for a refund you will only get $20 back.

Can't wait to book my next trip to the Malibu. Have stayed there before. It has been renovated and my room was great. Conveniently located directly across from the beach access. Love it there.

Free coffee in the mornings, bed was comfy, good location for restaurants, everyone welcomed our little Yorkie Daisy, and staff was friendly. The pool was really busy most of our stay and our room was located facing pool. The noise level was high.

The manager of this property went above and beyond her duties to make us comfortable, especially when she delivered a coffee pot to our room. Really wasn't much. That I did not like great location more than reasonable, that a nice little restaurant up front.

Great location, beautiful gardens and pool area. Great location, walkable beach access m. We have a sensitivity to chemical / fragrance smells and struggled with the fabric softener coated bedding. Made a late night trip to pick up pillows and a blanket. We understand this doesn’t bother most people. But it was for us. Also, mold/mildew smell from the tub access panel.

This is a clean, cozy, locally owned motel. The owner is always around making sure everyone has what they need, and keeping the grounds clean and beautiful. The attached bar/restaurant is also nice. I loved that I could get a single slice! I can’t wait to stay there again!

Amazing pool and right across the street from the beach. Attached restaurant We came on a Monday and the restaurant was closed, but we found great restaurants nearby.

We reserved a one bedroom and it didn’t disappoint! It was very spacious, clean and welcoming. I will be returning in the future…

This is a great location....felt like being at home. The staff was very personable. Pool and cabana are great additions to this resort. There is a pizza joint on location, yet really close to all tourist spots. Don't know if it was just the weekend that we went, yet everyone staying on property was super pleasant, welcoming and treated us like old friends.

Our stay was awesome — we already can’t wait to come back! The place was clean, the beds were super comfy, and the location was perfect. Being just across the street from the beach made everything so easy, and we loved being within walking distance of restaurants. Having a bar right on the property was a huge bonus too. Overall, such a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

Great place to stay! The beach is right across the road, there is a pool to use as well. Beach chairs available as well as floaties and pool noodles. You can rent a cabana for $60 a day if you want to be out of the sun. There is a tv in it as well as an outdoor couch. Rooms are nice. Onsite parking available. Close to everything! There is a restaurant attached to it. Very friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again in the future!

The photos make this place look better than it actually is. It’s old and very outdated. Smells musty. Shower tub was peeling and rusted. No vent in bathroom so it steams up really bad and everything gets wet. Queen beds are very small to be “queen” size and not comfortable. Staff is pretty rude. There’s a bar attached to the motel so a lot of guests get too drunk and are loud late at night. The A/C for your room is a window unit that’s fairly noisy. The pool is the nicest part but it is right outside most of the rooms so you smell the chlorine from your room. I do not recommend this place. There are better options for the same price or cheaper.

Okay for a 1-3 night stay. Check in after hours can be a bit involved. No staff on site. You have to do the check in online - upload creds etc. Good location.

Clean, friendly and across the street from the beach. The pool area is well done and inviting for swimming, sunning, reading or snacking. Fellow guests were really friendly. A bit of a retro feel, really enjoyed the experience.

It had to be the WORSE check in ever!!! There was no one in the office to do a check in-tried calling the hotel & it goes to a central booking #?? Never got a human to answer. . .

The family atmosphere vibe was on point. The Malibu is close to all of it, has an excellent restaurant attached with the new owner, Arthur, being very personable... We frequent this area from Central Florida and will be back again... Good Job Malibu!!

The staff was amazing and nice. The property looks prettier in pictures. The rooms were really run down, did not have iron and ironing board, had to request and they have limited office hours, so glad we caught that early enough. The kitchenette did not have a working stove top and we had plans to make dinner, bought food and couldn’t cook. Had to wait till the next day to get a h plug in hot plate which ruined our plans and cooked the next day to keep food from being wasted as it was fresh fish. The restaurant that is attached was nice and had good food and drinks but for the cost, we could have stayed at a nicer hotel without the kitchenette for the same price..

This little place was so cute. The pool area was absolutely beautiful! There's a restaurant with live music and a full bar attached. And they provided beach chairs and towels. The room was very clean. And the beach access is directly across the street. We will definitely be back!!

10/10 can't say enough good things about this cute little place. We live about and hour away and just wanted to get away for the night. Never been to Maderia beach so we decided to go and found this gem. Ms Debbie was so so welcoming as soon as we got there. Rooms are very clean we had everything we needed. The pool area was so nice and had everything you needed as well. There's a restaurant bar located right at the front of the hotel and they have great drinks and food. Access to the beach was right across the street that takes about one minute to walk onto the beach.We have officially found our new little spot and will be booking again in the near future we can't wait to go back and take our kids and our family.

Great staff and location. Very family friendly. A classic Florida motel embracing its identity wholy and wonderfully. Just steps from the beach it was easy for me and my two children to relax and have fun. When the pool or beach no longer entertained the youngest (5yr) there was plenty to do nearby and when the oldest (10yr) inevitably got hungry there were plenty of options.

Our room was clean and comfy. The pool setting is great for morning sun until 2 pm. It was good also when beach was too breezy. Coffee and drinks available in office. Deb is the owner, very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect for all around beach vacation. Parking was never a problem.

Added bonus on this trip was the pizza restaurant that recently opened on the property. Very good food and live entertainment every night we were there which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our room was clean and comfortable the kitchenette that was very useful. The rooms are dated, but are in good repair, and clean. Staff was very accommodating, took care of all of our requests quickly. The public trolley system that comes right by the hotel is a great way to get around. Very easy way to get to John’s Pass, St. Pete or Clearwater. No rental car needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and we will return to the location

The property is very welcoming with an attached restaurant in the front great pizza and wings. You can walk right across to the beach. Great beach access everywhere. The room was great. It would be nice if the bathrooms were updated.

My daughters and I stayed for a night and had a wonderful time! The staff was amazing and we loved the pool area. Walked to the beach, ate dinner at the hotel, food was good and prices were great. Short drive to John’s Pass. All around great visit. We will be back!

Great location. Staff was superb. Excellent value. Our only issue was our room was very dated. It was clean but the bathroom needs a complete overhaul. All the rooms are different so some may be in better shape. I also have an issue with none of the windows opening.

The Malibu Resort was the perfect place to spend a week in Florida. Debbie is awesome, the other guests are all friendly, the pool area is tremendous, and the rooms are very nice as well. Overall I have nothing negative to say and we will be back next March.

Great place to stay, affordable, fun

For breakfast there was good coffee and every flavor of creamer the store had available. Several days there were Dunkin’ Doughnuts placed out for the guests as well. We had a minor issue with our room that was fixed almost immediately and then checked up on several times throughout our week long stay. This is really the only thing I can think of that went wrong. The best part of our stay had to be the host of the place, Debbie. She was the nicest and most accommodating host/front desk manager/does it all person that we met the entire time. Her conversations with all of the guests around the pool and common areas made the place feel like a small community. She always had a smile and was willing to go out of her way the second anyone needed anything. I would happily stay here for our next trip to Florida. We were just looking for a room and found a true gem in both the accommodations and our host.

The rooms were very clean, but dated. The pool was very clean and warm. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming always having the coffee on every morning. There is no view of the ocean, but a short walk to the beach.

We found the Malibu's beachy vintage vibes to be very welcoming. Rooms have been updated with new furniture, flooring, bedding, and have a great feel to them. Bathroom was original and clean.There was music by the clean, heated pool. Staff accommodated our daily fresh towels and were friendly. No daily housekeeping which we liked. Across the street from the beach. Lots of amenities near by. A sweet spot🌴☀️🦩

However, the rooms need major improvements. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything from the rooms next door and upstairs! Also from the corridors. So basically you get no privacy. Also there's alot of light that comes from the back window.

Very little parking, have to walk across street to walk pets, no smoking outside of room, must walk all the way to office area to smoke. The staff was excellent and safe environment. Pool area very nice.

The only negative to note, is that the doors are very old, and do not seal. You can hear every person walking/talking outside of your room very easily. But, would stay there again.

Although not a "resort " this place is very quaint and quiet. The property is very cool with a pool (heated.believe) lots of lounge chairs and super friendly people. There is a beach access point right across the street and traffic is mostly light. Parking is free and although i have a large truck i was able to park easily. There are lots of local birds every morning (very cool) and hot coffee every morning around 630ish in the office. Our room was comfortable and most importantly clean. This really is a cool motel and reminds me of growing up in Key West with all of the more eclectic hotels. I personally love the place.

opened in 1956, the Malibu is well maintained, and manager Debbie was a gem. Located on Gulf Blvd, convenient to many attractions (public beach across street), we had a restful, pleasant stay. Would definitely return!

Our room was perfect and fully appointed with everything you could need. Bath towel actually went around my waist with plenty of left over towel. Immaculately clean, right across from the beach. Great vibe with a laid back, Key West feel. Debbie could not be more helpful, she's kind of like an old friend! Don't hesitate.

This an older hotel that needs updated, but for the price it was nice. You have to ask for housekeeping. I paid extra for a cooktop and after searching the cabinets, I found a hotplate! I was hit with an extra charge upon checking in. Not sure what it was for. I was under the impression that everything was included in the Hotels.com price. There is no hotel management on site, it was all done by txt messaging.

Did ot have a pet, but love the old Florida atmoshere.

I believe this our 4th visit to the Malibu Beach Resort. It’s a terrific vintage motel (2 stories, L shaped, with a pool in the courtyard). Rooms are clean and basic, but have all that you need for a beach vacation. We stayed in a newly renovated apartment and it was awesome. The location is perfect, across the street from the beach. And within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The service is amazing. They help with everything, and have coffee for you in the AM. Deb and her team are great! Highly recommend!

Motel was still damaged. The door did not lock completely. There was no one around in the office. The room was clean on the 2nd floor .

The stay was fine, I did have issues with how I had to make the reservation. I couldn't just call the hotel and make the reservation, I had to go through Hotel.com which charges me for that. Then I was charged for however many days I stayed, plus fees, and extras. Which made the stay way more expensive than I originally thought it was going to cost. I don't think anything was explained when I was just trying to find a place to sleep. I wasn't there to hang out, just sleep. I was told I would be able to get coffee in the office every day, which was not true. It was open the first 2 days, but was not open after that at all. No one to just ask questions or help elevate any issues. Had to ask for 2 wash clothes because they kept just leaving 1 and there were 2 people in the room. I wouldn't say that I would never stay there again, but I will look for somewhere else to stay the next time I go down. If there were just more communication, I think it would relieve some stress I was feeling during my stay. The pool area was nice.

Clean, helpful host, not quite on beach as advertised on hotels.com (and charged a resort fee) (it's across street), but good value for what we needed it for. There was also an additional service fee when we checked in that wasn't labeled on hotels.com (as all fees were meant to be included) but it wasn't much just good to know.

Great Old Florida Motel! It's not new or fancy but the accommodations are perfect for a relaxing weekend away. The beach is right across the street, the pool is clean and inviting. Staff was accommodating and kind. We will be back!

If you're looking for a 4 star hotel this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a quaint, clean, quiet motel in a great location, across the street from the ocean this IS the place for you. Great customer service, and very nice pool. The rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable. Rooms have a kitchenette too. The motel needs some updating. They are working on that. I will be back for sure and I do recommend you give it a try.

It was a nice area but the ac barely worked and the bathroom windows weren’t even real glass it was plastic so the bathrooms were hotter then the room.

I’ve been coming here for years.Literally the nicest people,spotless rooms and the beach is just across the street.Pool is nice and big,they have a small dinner ,excellent option for lunch.A few minutes away from John’s Pass ,bars and restaurants.Debbie the manager and her staff will make you feel welcome every time.

If you love old Florida mom and pop places this is the place for you! Only 2 stories which is perfect! Rooms very clean and updated, pool area very pretty! Pizza place literally on site. The beach is across the street with beach entry. No complaints, would stay here again! They do accept dogs! Great coffee in office with donuts and every creamer you desire! Check in and check out a breeze!

Been going there for many years.Debbie and all the staff are so nice and helpful. The area is in a wonderful location. The motel rooms need a little TLC but they are working on that already. Rooms were clean and bedding was clean. AC worked well. No complaints. If you are looking for a luxuary place , this is not it. For us it is just right for a quick getaway to the beach and the office has complimentary coffee which is very convenient in the mornings.

This was the biggest ripoff I've ever experienced. It was in such bad shape we didn't even check in. Turns out this is actually around $125/night, yet somehow, possibly through some 3rd party they work with, we were charged over $700 for it for 2 nights. We figured with good reviews and such a high price, it would be a nice place. It looks like the main building was built in the 1960's and hasn't been updated, the pool is super small, etc. Don't be scammed like we were.

I arrived a little bit ealier but the staff was able to send me the key code to get in to allow me to check in and drop off my luggage so I could enjoy the area. They were very friendly and I appreciated them helping me with this. You have to check in via link and the code will be sent to your phone.

The motel was extremely old and outdated. Lots of rusty metal in the room, holes in the cabinets, really loud refrigerator and air conditioner. Toilet clogged every time we used it. Unidentified item on the floor under the sink. Expedia had it listed as beach front but it was actually across the street from beach.

We have stayed here before and we love it. This weekend for memorial day they even had a bbq for all guests.

Rooms need updated

When we first walked in it smelled musty. Found dead bugs on the window sills. Found a couple small bugs on the comforter of the bed. Weather stripping not well done around the doors. Very thin walls. Was not what I consider a resort. Very old bathroom not updated.

We had a fantastic stay at Malibu Resort! The property was clean and well-maintained, with a lovely pool that was perfect for relaxing. The location couldn't be better—just steps from the beach and within walking distance to great shops and restaurants. Everything about the stay made it easy to unwind and enjoy the beautiful Madeira Beach area.

King bed room was upstairs, keep in mind if have bad knees & cannot do stairs. The linens/ sheets were navy blue which is very weird. Honestly, I slept in my clothes because I wasn’t sure if sheets were changed. The towels were white, had sand in them. Place smelled of mold. No bugs, refrig was good. Pool area looked cute. I was there only one night. I wanted to like this place but the bed sheets creeped me out being a dark navy & room deodorizer heavy trying to cover up moldy/mildew smell. I know they have been hit by 2 hurricanes so makes sense with mildew smell. Just be aware if you are super sensitive to smells.

This place was a gem! Beach across the street, not far from Clearwater or St. Petes, this place was perfect. Deb was also so very kind and responsive! 12/10 would recommend.

To be fair property is still damaged from hurricanes last fall but that was not disclosed on the listing. The word “resort” is misleading. Old property, very old bathroom, gaps in the windows and noisy. Very expensive considering what you get. But I must say staff was nice and was very close to a real nice beach.

Really nice property the rooms are nice and clean, and the staff is nice too. Right across the street from the beach.

While I did not meet the hosts in person, they were quick to respond via text whenever I needed and polite. My room had a window air conditioner. It was slightly loud. It did not bother me, as it provided white noise to fall asleep. But if someone needed absolute quiet to sleep, it would be a problem. The pool is only open from dawn until dusk. I arrived after dark due to flight delay, so that was a little disappointing. I assume this to keep people from partying around the pool all night. There is a local and affordable BBQ place just around the corner. While I did not try any, there are several bars within walking distance. At the time of my visit, there was a pizza place next to the motel. While the motel does not serve breakfast, there is a breakfast/lunch place called the Frog Pond a few doors down.

The mom and pop feel! Owner and staff were wonderful. I dont like the corporate places were you feel like a number.

Small and quiet. Pool was amazing. Staff friendly and coffee was made every morning. Beach across the street. Rooms need a little work but overall, a great stay

Nice family hotel

No housekeeping.

A cozy little place, with pool cabanas and a restaurant on site. Directly across from the beach. I’m a local but needed to stay here while my house was being sold. Wish I had known about this place sooner, I would have sent visiting friends and family here! My only complaint was the comforters on the bed. They were thin and itchy. Otherwise, I really loved this hidden gem

Because there was no one at check-in at about 6:30 on Sunday I had re-confirm via a phone link with someone in California before I could get code to open a box so I could get our room key

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff was wonderful, helpful, and friendly. The rooms were clean and exactly what we needed! So close to the ocean and many wonderful dining options. We have no complaints!

Is the perfect place to staying

Staff was so welcoming! Loved seeing the pups that were staying there. Bathroom is very outdated…,toilet was VERY low for an 84 year old to use, the tub sides were quite tall with nothing to hold on to and the drain was extremely rusty.

My second stay. Great little basic throwback motel with a lot of character and a great staff. Convenient to all of North Redington Beach. Across the street from the Gulf. A perfect place to lay your head after a day at the beach. Only complaint was the window unit A/C had a bit of a hard time keeping up with the heat of the day, so it took time for the room to get cool enough for sleeping. Looking forward to the next visit.

This is like Bates Motel...someone tried to open our door twice at around midnight. As two single females staying here, I would never stay here again. We got zero sleep and were scared all night after multiple attempts of people to open our door.

Clean property. Improved every year.

No need to lug beach chairs or umbrella...or towels. They are there for guest's use. Location is great. Frog Pond restaurant right across the side street. Quiet all night. Just a super little place. Can't wait till we can arrange another beach getaway.

Debbie was great. She really makes you feel welcome. We will definitely be back again!!

We stayed one night due to an early arrival and we LOVED it! Little outdated, but very clean. The hospitality was excellent! Coffee/snacks in the office. They brought out homemade lemonade to our kids at the pool. Very cute and relaxing pool area. The check in process was simple! Definitely recommend!!!
