Holiday Inn Bloomington - Normal by IHG

We stopped at this hotel on our way to Des Moines Iowa. It's convenient to the highway, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the temperature was good. We checked in late (10 pm) and left early (5 pm) so we didn't get to use a lot of amenities. We were told that the pool wasn't warm -- heater want working (no worries for us) and given keys to the room and instructions on how to find it. Checkout was straightforward. Turned in our keys and we were off. We liked that we didn't have to pay for a breakfast we weren't going to be able to eat because we left so early.

We stayed for a youth softball tournament. We paid a very overpriced rate and were supposed to get free breakfast but were told that we had to pay for it. On day two we were allowed to eat breakfast, but they had only one person working the breakfast shift. They were in charge of both taking orders and cooking the food. Needless to say we didn't get to eat. The pool was not usable and there was black mold all over our ceiling in the bathroom.

AC did not work. Breakfast was a standard hot breakfast but good.

When making the reservation, I requested a lower level and handicap accessible bathroom. When we checked in, we were placed on the 4th floor with a regular bathroom. The hotel was pretty empty and we were told no other room was available. Also the reservation stated breakfast was included, during check in we were advised there is a restaurant on site, but we would have to pay for breakfast.

Everything was great at the hotel. Pool was just very cold and we were there in the spring.

We stayed at this hotel 6 months ago and at that time the pool heater had stopped working. I booked again because the location is close to my family’s house but again after all this time the pool heater is still Not working. The hotel needs updating and we were hoping for some relaxing poolside. I will be looking for a different hotel the next time we are in town.

Mold in the bathroom on the ceiling, hair in the tub not mine! Air conditioner sounded like being in a car wash all night long. Did get reimbursed but a lot of work on rooms needs to be done.

Rooms are small, but clean. We were there two nights and for whatever reason they didn’t clean our room. We had to call three times to get new towels. The pool water and room were freezing. There was ants all over the floor. Shower water takes forever to warm up. Staff wasn’t very helpful they were always on their cell phones at the front desk. However, the property seems newly renovated. Lobby is nice, has a bar area. Location isn’t great, but not bad. Lot of geese and geese poop all over the parking lot. Not the worst stay, but probably wouldn’t stay again.

The bathroom toilet leaked, the room smelled of the pool chlorine ( we were on the 5th floor, facing the pool) and no staff greeted to us. Would not stay there again.

The property itself feels quite dated. While it’s clear there have been attempts to make upgrades, they don’t fully offset the overall old hotel feel. We couldn't take advantage of the breakfast included in our 200+ per night rate.

We liked our stay very much. Greeted by staff with a free Easter celebration drink and appetizers. Very unexpected. Everyone was so friendly.

The rooms need an update. The bed was uncomfortable and sunk in the middle. The wallpaper was ripped . The ceiling paint in the bathroom was peeling. The carpet was dirty.

We were able to check in early. Room was nice. The pool was cold as ice. They didn’t know. I thought was strange. They should be checking the pool every day.

We checked in on Christmas night at 10:00pm and left at 7:00am on the 26th. The room was very clean, the front area was really spacious and beautiful. What was the next thing was the woman that checked us in. She was so happy and festive for Christmas. You would not know it was Christmas night and she had to work. What a rockstar to great us.

Friendly staff the day I checked in. The gentleman checking out was not so much. When I asked about a copy of my receipt, he stated since I booked with Hotels.com, they would have the receipt and he couldn’t print it.

Expedia said Breakfast was free. During check in we were also told breakfast was free. When we went to breakfast, we were asked to pay $17 a person or something similar, but as soon as we said we were told it was free breakfast and showed the Expedia statement, they had no issues and we got the free breakfast. They probably need to communicate properly about this.

the room didn't have a refrigerator but when I called they sent one up. the AC didn't work in the room and the maintenance person had left so they offered to change our room but we stayed. Staff were very nice. I would stay again.

Jozette hotel on our way home cause they had a bar at the hotel looking to watch Monday Night Football. The barmaid was very friendly and very courteous however, she had no clue what Monday night football is took forever to get the TVs changed. She was overworked and needed a minimum of one additional probably two additional people to keep up with everything did not at all raise an issue because she was trying her best. Couldn’t seem to get a game on the four TVs custom we weren’t happy.

The hotel was close to my son's college campus. It was also close to stores and restaurants. The room was clean but the bed was uncommon so I didn't sleep very well.

Room very old with no window to outside. Lighting in room very bad and bathroom small and dark. It was clean though which was appreciated.

I liked that it was right off the highway easy to find. The staff was nice and friendly very knowledgeable. I really didn't have to go out to eat. They had their own restaurant. But when I did go out everything was close and convenient. The rooms were nice and comfortable and housekeeping was very nice and friendly and came and clean my room for the duration stay I was there. Overall that was a great place to stay.

The server at breakfast was very friendly. I hate I didn’t get her name. Just know it’s not continental .My only issues were when I called the desk, it rang for a long time and when someone did answer, I was on hold for forever that I forgot I was on hold. My room had a shower but it didn’t work. Gratefully I’m able to sit in the bath tub as there were no safety rails. Then I wasn’t able to get any sleep the 3 nights I was there because the air conditioning unit was so loud; going on and off every few minutes. The King sized bed and pillows were quite comfy though. Lastly…. No lightening! The bathroom was dark so I had no idea what my makeup would be like until I stepped outside to check it while in my car. The light illuminated from behind the mirror. That was very disappointing.

I made a reservation for my parents for a roll in shower because my mother is in a wheelchair. When they arrived, they were told that a room like this was not available. How do you expect her to take a shower? We booked the specific shower for that reason. They eventually “found” a room with the roll in shower but not after them sitting there a while after a long day of traveling. I would expect better from this established hotel chain but Holiday Inn Express in general has about a 25 % rate with my mom and dads roll in shower rooms of getting it right. Maybe it’s time to find them a different chain……..

Standard room seemed very small, as if hotel was designed for an urban setting, rather than at edge of a town.

The room floor was all wet in front of the air conditioner. Hotel seemed out dated. Definitely not worth the $176/night fee.

Huge spacious lobby, clean room super comfortable bed and friendly staff. I was there for a family visit and would definitely stay there again. (And my 81 year-old Uncle found it really easily from the highway, bonus!)

Sue in Customer Relations was on the ball, as usual! She had my favorite room ready. I spent 2 minutes checking in, as Sue had everything ready for my check in. The lights in my room were on and the AC was on to combat the hot weather. I got free breakfast - great eggs and gravy.

The young lady at the desk said I was in luck, as she already had a room cleaned and available. Graduation weekend!!! The room was lovely, with a comfy mattress and outstandingly soft sheets.

We stayed only one night and found the hotel and room very clean. We had a king room and the bed was very comfortable but the leisure chair in the room was very small and awkward. It was a padded U -shaped chair that a larger person would likely not fit in. The bathroom was extremely small with very dim lighting and no exhaust fan and a sliding door that slid to cover the bathroom doorway or a small closet. For an overnight stay it was fine but I don't think for a longer stay it would have been. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a lot of warm and cold options and the highlight of our visit.

Our room overlooked the lobby and restaurant/bar. This was fine, until a large and loud group gathered in the lobby area. They weren't obnoxious, just loud! The location/proximity of our room made it impossible to rest.

The staff were very courteous & helpful. We would definitely enjoy staying there in the future.

Property was nice. Was bummed that the pool closed so early esp when we booked that for only that reason during our travels but we made the most of it!!

Wasn’t worth the $220 I paid for the room. The bathroom had no vent and very limited space or lighting. There were a bunch of people partying that night and came back to their rooms very loudly in the hallways.

Lost power to the room one morning for about 10 minutes. A bit frustrating as we were in the middle of getting ready to leave for the days games. I will say that having stayed at various hotel chains over the past few years, it’s criminal that the breakfast was offered at $16.00 per person.

The refrigerator in the room did not work. Hotel was fully booked and were not able to have someone replace so we had to throw all our left overs out that we brought back. Power went out in the hotel for aout 5 mins. The room faced the lobby and since the bar is in the lobby and the way the hotel is setup room amplifies in the room and was loud all night.

Absolutely no complaints. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Would definitely stay here again

The room and facility were nice. Quit on the 5th floor. I gave it a 3 because the sheet had a large stain on it, the lighting in the bathroom was poor, there was no microwave or continental breakfast. They did give you a option for a sit down breakfast however.

Room is tiny and probably under sq ft advertised. To get adjoining rooms should have more choices in hotel.

Check in was easy the customer could use some work. The ceilings in the bathroom are low so if you’re tall you may want to ask. Beds were ok could’ve been newer.

We booked this hotel last minute while traveling and were pleasantly surprised. It was very nice and clean. The bed was super comfy and the shower had lots of pressure. Amenities were good. It was a holiday and staff still seemed happy to be there.
