I had a very good experience. Here we ran into one problem where the toilet in our room some kind of way went out, and they immediately fixed it and put us in a different room no hassle whatsoever very friendly staff in the property was well kept we enjoyed all of the amenities the pool, & breakfast.

The property was very clean. The restaurant area was also a very clean and comfortable location and the food was excellent.

The hotel was clean and the front desk staff was friendly. The hotel is located back in a deserted area. The housekeeping staff did not service my room the day after my first night. Therefore, the coffee station did not get refilled and the body wash in the shower (which was almost empty when I got there) did not get refilled. I had to ask the front desk for body wash, which they readily accommodated. The water pressure for the shower was a trickle.

Upon checking into our room it was evident that it was not properly cleaned, however the manager was extremely polite and provided another room. Breakfast was great and our server was exceptional.

I always book this property for my staycations. The staff is wonderful.

We came again this year because we liked everything a lot our last year trip to VA. This time the last day of stay (12/25/2025) the breakfast preparation took very long time. Eggs and home made potatoes took about an hour to prepare which is unacceptable. The server was very nice and apologized multiple times but the cook was so slow and could not handle orders in time

BEWARE! DO NOT BOOK A ROOM WITH A JOINT/ADJOINING DOOR/ROOM OPTION IN THE ROOM! But should I have to even say that!?! I booked a room with my young daughter and her friend for one night to visit Busch Gardens. Upon our return after the park, we were able to hear light conversation from the adjoining room. Wasn't anything would couldn't deal with. I go to sleep & they stayed up. They wake me up to tell me that the adjoining room is very audible. Yup..moaning and all the noises associated with exactly what you think. How disgusting & horrible for anyone to have to hear so clearly, let alone these two young girls. I call the desk and was told they can make a phone call about it. Then we hear the phone ring like it was in our room. Quiet and then they just turn their TV on blast. Call again, same thing, nothing is being done. We barely slept and were supposed to go to the park again to enjoy the day. Check out was even more disgraceful. I was offered free breakfast(which was already included) with my stay and was told that more should have been done by the person that was working that night. She also stated that next time I should make sure not to book a room with an adjoining door. WHAT!?! Now that is my problem & I should have booked a room w/o one. I didn't have a choice of what room & would think that if you have this door in a room that there would be some type of appropriate install that would prevent this from being an issue. Definitely a HILTON Problem!

Staff was friendly and the air freshener in the lobby was top notch ? I always seen someone cleaning something Well something transpired while my stay but the staff was helpful and rectified the situation. I would stay there again.

One of them knocked on our door thinking he was coming in our room. We called the front desk and complained, but they only called them and asked them to be quiet. Nothing else.

Our room wasn’t vacuumed. There were crumbs on the floor, the carpet was dirty. Our bathtub wasn’t clean either. There was hair everywhere. The bathroom door was rusty and paint was started to peel from the bottom Elevators were dirty too. For the price we paid I would definitely expect more.

We were moved to a different room where bathroom was a bit cleaner. When the bedding was pulled back there was hair and indentations in the sheets as if someone sat there. The clerk moved us to a third room that had a damp smell but appeared to be cleaner. We didn't notice until we returned from dinner after 11pm that the sheets, once again were dirty and had long hair. We called the front desk and asked that we get clean sheets. We never got a call back so at midnight my husband had to go down and retrieve them. We were up changing linens which was absolutely ridiculous. I did call the manager after we checked out and request a full refund which he did honor. As much as I appreciate that, I do feel that anyone checking into this hotel be cautious and check your rooms as the cleaning staff is clearly not cleaning these rooms and passing off a made bed to the next guest.

We had a handicapped accessible room which was well designed for the handicapped but a very long walk from the front office as well as from the closest entrance from the parking lot.The room was spacious and clean, but seeing live bugs on the bathroom floor was not a pleasant sight.

** the air freshener in the lobby is VERY overwhelming. I didn't speak up about it (so bad on me), but it needs to be dialed down for sure.

The rooms looks recently renovated, felt pretty nice. Convenient location. They have transportation to the Newport airport (not Norfolk airport - I almost took the wrong transportation). Pretty nice and convenient hotel.

Farther away from Norfolk than I originally thought, but decent place at a decent price. Was there for work, so I didn’t utilize the pool or gym. Food was good. Staff was over the top friendly and helpful.

The room smelled of mildew and the smell came from the carpets. The room was neat and tidy but I’m not sure if it had been cleaned with the strong smell. Service was good on the other hand.

Upon entering the hotel, I was greeted by Derek who is super upbeat and very friendly. Made me feel very well taken care of and went out of his way to make me comfortable. The room was very large, The bed comfortable, and the sheets, surprisingly soft. Everything was very clean and I appreciate the complementary waters in the room. Noise from the hallway was also minimal, which is much appreciated. My only complaint was the noise from the air-conditioning compressor, but I don’t think that would bother most people. Service was a little confusing. They have a buffet option and a menu option to order the menu receiving the entrée. They said that I was to help myself to the buffet for any of the included sides. All in all, I will 100% stay here again Next time I’m in town.

We stayed for one night while looking at colleges in the area. First impression outside isn't great but the hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly. Special shout out to the staff who prepared the breakfast buffet, they clearly take pride in their jobs and it showed. Room was spacious and the two queens were nice. Overall good stay and good value, would stay again for sure

We were warmly greeted by the very sweet desk clerk, Derek. First impressions are so key! He made us feel welcome and he was very helpful. The room was very clean, another most important requirement. If we return to Newport News, we will definitely stay here!

It was very quiet. They had construction to refresh some areas, but had online & signage to let us know. The work hours were sensible and didn't impact us at all. The rooms were clean, the water pressure was great and the water hot. Our favorite part was breakfast. She handed us our plates, brought us coffee and juice, was very friendly to everyone. Morning two, remembered we liked coffee and had it on "our" table for us by the time we finished loading our plates. They had fresh fruit also. Very well done. I wish I remembered her name, but she made the breakfast fun.

The smell of mold was very strong in our room. There was mold on surfaces throughout the room including the lamp and light switch. The room felt damp as did the bedding in the room.

Con: The coffee in lobby was bitter and burned by 8:30 AM. But it was a busy Saturday morning. Maybe just my bad timing.

It is a bit dated but it was clean, quiet and check in was efficient. I thought the location was closer to Williamsburg than it actually was. Overall it was fine for one night.

It was under renovations, I guess. The restaurant wasn't open on Saturday nor the bar. Only had vending machines at the front desk. Room was clean and fresh. Breakfast was highly priced for what you got. Room for improvements. Staff nice and helpful.

The worst thing for us though was the sudden loud awakening of music blaring beginning around 8:45am. I had not idea what was going on, but was very upset to be woken up! We had helped our daughter move in to our new apt and were exhausted. We welcomed the fact that check-out was 11am on Sunday. However, we had to get up because the music got progressively louder (we were on the 1st floor). My husband went out to investigate and popped his head into this conference room which was across from our room to find about 12 people in a worship meeting listening to hymns on a recording very loudly! What on earth???? This is a hotel, not a worship center. At the very least, offer them a later time, ie, 11am when checkout is!!!! Not happy at all and I love Hilton Garden Inn!

The Hallway carpet on 2nd floor was filthy! The floor tile was loose in the bathroom, shower head looked filthy!

I was traveling from Wisconsin to New Jersey and back. I left my purse in a hotel in New Jersey and they said they did not find it. I was without an ID and all my credit/debit cards except the one I keep in a case with my phone. The young man at the front desk was being adamant he could not give me the room without an ID, even though I booked and paid through a 3rd party and offered to show a photo of my ID that was stored on my cloud. I asked him twice to let me speak to a manager, and he finally called one, but I had to get angry before he would. Maybe a lesson in guest service and using best judgement in certain situations would be helpful for the young man. He had zero empathy, and I got the impression he did not believe my story. Whether he did or not is not the issue, but I almost took my business elsewhere over an ID that he really didn't need. Once that issue was settled, the rest of the stay was great. Thank you.

Could not control the room temperature.

Disappointed that there were foreign hairs in the bathroom, No ice in the first floor. No hot water in the early evening. Had to take a cool shower. No better than less expensive hotels.

For the price they charge the breakfast should be free! Also the room smelled musty. And pool was not heated. And no jacuzzi.

Walkout shower does not actually contain the water. Makes tiles slippery. Front desk staff (except at morning checkout time, they were fine) but rest were unfriendly.

The stay was pretty good. Didn't spend much time in the hotel since there for a bball tourney. However, staff was friendly, rooms were clean. Only downside, beds werent that comfortable and they should offer free breakfast. A la carte was too pricey for what they offer.

Our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Newport News, VA was very pleasant. The room vas clean and there were no issues with check in. The breakfast area had friendly staff and quick service. I will recommend this hotel to my family.

Clean, updated, and comfortable. Lobby is gorgeous. Breakfast was good, but a bit spendy.

Breakfast was the only bad thing I can say about ths place, not that many choices plus was not included, I had to pay for it. I have stayed in cheaper places with better included brEakfast options.

The TV was kind of small

Four vehicles were broken into during my stay with my children.

My room was very clean and comfy. It was quiet. It was what i needed. The staff was great.
