Linens on the bed had stains and the microwave was not working

Do Not I repeat Do Not stay at this Days Inn. Entering the building the welcome mat is nasty. The floor in the breakfast area is sticky the continental breakfast which consisted of cold waffles in a refrigerator where everyone can touch them. Coffee was nasty. They only offered toast packages of oatmeal, bananas, and yogurt none of which was plentiful so if you don’t arrive early, there is nothing left and most of all the elevator did not work. The elevator has not worked according to other residence for the past week they’re in violation of ADA act and should be shut down. This property should not be on the market to rent a room from them as it is unclean and unhealthy air conditioner. Events appeared to have never been cleaned and the smell in the room is still and you have prostitutes working there as a place of business.

I wanted the smoking room for convenience, but from the lackluster greeting, to the questionable people hanging out in the stairwell (my room was on the 3rd floor.... elevator was out of service so you HAD to use the stairwell... idk if the man and woman were homeless... drug dealers or a pimp & lady of the night... but we passed them up on the way to the 3rd floor). The room itself?? ASHES IN THE BATHROOM SINK AND TUB, dirt and grime all over the furniture as if it hasn't been wiped down in weeks. Sticky floor. Blood stains on the bedframe/mattress. Mold in the freezer part of the mini fridge. I mean... the ac worked great and the sheets/linen was clean. BUT the NOISE!!! On top of all we seen (did I mention the security cameras did not have a light to indicate they were actually working?) YOU COULD NOT GET ANY SLEEP BECAUSE IT SOUNDED LIKE DOORS WERE SLAMMING IN THE ROOM ITSELF ALLLLLL. NOIIIIIGGGGGHHHTTTT. LLLLLLOOOONNNNNGGGGG. absolutely worst hotel experience ever. Never again.

Walking down the hallway, there was a faint smell of weed, likely coming from one of the rooms. When I opened the door to the room, I was hit with the smell of cigarettes. The AC was broken (Mgmt - check room 134); thankfully, the room wasn't too hot. We were in a rush to get somewhere and didn't have time to complain or switch rooms. The beds were comfortable and seemed clean, so that was the most important thing for me. The breakfast isn't much. It's just bread to toast, some cereal, and frozen waffles for toasting. We only stayed a few hours, just to sleep, so it was suitable enough but likely will find a hotel that honors non-smoking reservations instead of putting me in a smoking room.

The bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were all very friendly. The elevator was not working and there was no easy way to get my luggage to the 3rd floor and there was no breakfast available. The toilet seat had burn marks on it.

It is offputting when you arrive....many people hanging around like they live there. When I was checking in the guy looked at me funny and asked why I was looking at him (?). Lots of smells in the hallways. HOWEVER: once in the room it was quiet, clean, and very reasonable for the price. Was it worth it for me to save money from Virginia Beach during Memorial Day Weekend? Definitely. The hotel is in an excellent location as well. I hope management reads this and picks up their game. The first impression is very off-putting especially after a 5-hour drive. Dude needs to think about where he is and how to serve guests.....

Room appeared clean, was traveling with my 83 year old Aunt and requested a ground floor room which was promptly provided as they had us on the second floor with a broke elevator. Staff did not pay attention and several hours later booked another guest into our room. Thank God that I had put the additional lock on to block the door as they were trying to get onto our room and I had to call the front desk. I thought someone was trying to break in. Beds were clean and well made. Carpet was dirty as my granddaughters feet were black from walking in the room. The front entrance and the hallways reeked of the smell of marijuana. Water was not hot for showers and the water pressure was horrible. Staff was very friendly!

The room was not very clean. The bed was made but the room had remnants of previous folks stays. Hair in the bathroom. The blow dryer did not work, the socket for the blow dryer did not work. There was no iron or ironing board in the room. The entire hotel smelled terrible. Not a great experience at all. There was no breakfast at 7 am Saturday morning 5/16 before we headed out to our CNU graduation.

Convenient location in heart of Newport News. Room was clean. The hallway was kind of smokey. In this day and age, all hotels should be smoke free. The plexiglass at the front desk was not the best show of confidence for the area.

The internet didn't work the TV only had one channel going in and out my room was nasty from a party they had to come clean it while we stand right there there was not enough towels or anything the hotel smell like mildew they could do a lot better the food was a no no old food people touching all over it

I like the size of the room The toilet didn't work we had to take the back off and reach our hand in to flush it. The floors turned my sons feet black and the bathtub was filthy the walls looked worn..It looks like it's been around for a while and in need of renovations.

initially had a room where several items were not to our liking. The staff member (Addie) work with us to correct the issue and we were moved to a new room. She will initiate repairs to the first room. All was good after that.

The clerk on checking in acted like he did not want to be there, like we were bothering him, very unpleasant. The cleaning persons kids where playing in the halls and all you could smell was marijuana

Young man on afternoon shift was fantastic. Room was clean with no in in dual smells. I've stay there several times and this time seems someone got the idea to improve to improve conditions. Great job.

There was no breakfast, it reeked of animal urine and cigarette smoke I had to switch rooms because the first one was dirty it was not clean the floor was sticky, and the second room there was still stains on the walls everywhere that could have been cleaned up mold all around the mirror mold in the bathroom sink questionable white powder remarks on the mirror. Would not recommend!! there was no breakfast either day I was there!

The beds were nice. Had to grab towels. Normally hotels housekeeping maintain this when you're not in the room. Beds didn't get made like other hotels would. Breakfast was weak. Biscuits and gravy aren't hard to make. Just sayin.

The price was OK. When we arrived the staff was standing outside smoking and the place smelled like weed. The TV remote didn't work and the heat didn't work very good. I had to fix the toilet to stop the water running continuously.

This location is hotel/shelter. The elevator was out of service, the staircase had empty cans, coffee and soda stains on the floor. Complete overhaul is needed. Full disclosure should be made to paying guests.

I personally didn't get breakfast but my family said that it was fine. Could be upgraded to a full breakfast with bacon and eggs. The location of the hotel was excellent. Also would be good to add a fitness room and business area somewhere. The atmosphere was poor. 1st The entrance to the hotel had people loitering out front, smoking, using profanity as well as in the lobby. 2nd It appeared that some people were there who were not guests, using hotel facilities (pool, breakfast, ect.) Minimum help with house keeping and not up to par. Lobby and rooms smelled like smoke.

A bit more flexibility on their behalf during that time would have been nice (clearing people from the breakfast area with a broken elevator and no way to access upper floors). You get what you pay for. Pros- Cheap. Decent rooms, decent property, clean beds. Very nice staff. Cons- People coming and going from the property were strung out and sketchy. Smelled like cigarettes and 420. Missing tv remote. I would not stay here again.

The room is in poor condition - there is paint peeling on the bathroom door, the toilet doesn’t work properly, the tv doesn’t work and most of the furniture is torn or in disrepair.

Room was no cleaned properly. Food scraps on floor, leftover food in fridge, shampoo bottle caps in tub, and long hair was found in several places. But the bed was clean and mattress was good.

There was a grand party going on in the parking lot until the early hours of the morning. A pity the walls and floors are tissue thin, you hear everything. At least the bed was good. Breakfast was minimal, Eggo type waffle in a single two space toaster for the entire room. Syrup was a half filled syrup jar to be shared by everyone. Bananas, cereal, yogurt cup and some bread to make toast. That is if you can access the toaster, those waffles take time. I recommend you look elsewhere. Wyndham/Days Inn might want to rethink their affiliation.

A room with a pass thru door and people in the next room. They kept the tv on all night and loud enough to get through the door. I didn’t realize it was a smoking hotel so that is an issue because there is some lingering smell because of that. Two out of 3 lightbulbs in my room did not work so that was annoying but it was late so I did not ask for replacements. I probably would not book again because of the smoking.

We reserved a King non-smoking. The lobby smelled like pot and cleaning products. The person who helped us said nothing other than "driver's license" so I wasn't even sure when we were done. We had no information about breakfast, etc. The first room (hint) had two double beds and smelled like someone chain smoked in it all day. We got moved to a second double bed room when we were told there were no king bed rooms. It did not smell as bad and the beds were actually pretty comfortable and clean (although turning the heat on caused a very nasty odor). The toilet didn't work, though, as there was no water in the tank. That was later fixed but we can't say the same for the single elevator. It was broken both nights we stayed there. The first night the attendant reluctantly (her shift had not started yet) used a special key to retrieve the elevator from the second floor. On the second night we were not so lucky as the "manager" only had the elevator key and was not present that night. A cleaning person did tell us to have a nice day on our way out -- the first time we heard anything like that from anyone who worked there. We will not be returning to this hotel.

People literally standing outside the entrance smoking weed, so close that you could smell it all through the lobby and hallways. Elevator and second floor hallways also wreaked of it. Our room was fairly clean, the A/C worked great. However the ceiling was falling down in the shower. Do yourself a favor and pay $20 more and stay somewhere else!!

Great value, cozy, comfortable accomodations. Great for short family trips where price is more relevant than major amenities. Friendly, helpful staff. We had an issue with our room entry card keypad but the staff anticipated our needs even though it couldn't be repaired during our stay. The beds were ok as far as comfort. Overall a great stay for the price.

Everything was good but the door locks didn’t work unless you had a master key which made going out an inconvenience because you always had to find staff to get back in the room. And the toilet didn’t work the 1st night. The staff was wonderful tho especially the 2 young lady’s at the front desk.

Everything was good but the door locks didn’t work unless you had a master key which made going out an inconvenience because you always had to find staff to get back in the room. And the toilet didn’t work the 1st night. The staff was wonderful tho especially the 2 young lady’s at the front desk.

The lobby smelled like someone had been smoking weed in it. Pretty sure it was the check-in manager. The first room they gave us did not have working lights. The second room they gave us had cockroaches in the bathroom. Will not stay there again.

Our toilet broke but they did come and fix it. Breakfast bar was a joke. No coffee was made one morning and no sugar available another morning. Very small selection of breakfast items. It was a low priced hotel so I guess you get what you pay for.

Educate ALL STAFF about Registered Service Animals AND how ILLEGAL it is to tell the Handler that they CANT have their Service Animal in the Breakfast Area! It’s Law that the SA is to be with the handler at ALL times it’s also AGAINST the LAW to LEAVE THEM IN A HOTEL ROOM ALONE since it’s A SERVICE ANIMAL! Unfortunately, my stay was marred by two major issues: the property's subpar condition and a billing error. I was double-charged for my stay, first by the Expedia and again by the property during pre-check-in. Although the second charge was supposed to be a temporary hold, it was mistakenly posted to my account. I'm currently working with Expedia to resolve this issue.

There was dirt around the edges of the bed. The freezer was full of ice. Only had enough towels and wash cloths for 2 people when it was 3 of us in the room. Saw a roach in the room!!!

Hotel did not have clear communication on early check in procedures. When I was finally given a room for early check in, the room was dirty, trash in the trash can, stains on sheets, roaches where crawling around, and dead water bugs were all over the carpet. When I went to the front desk to to complain, no one was around and we waiting for a while .

Booked a nonsmoking room and was placed in a smoking room. Normally is not a issue. With that said, The room we got reeked of cigarettes. There was no plate in the microwave. Grease was all over both the microwave and the fridge. Old cigarettes buds were on the floor. The safe was covered in a thick film. Room also included belongings from the previous person. With the AC not working either. The bathroom was dirty. Including old bandaids. Ceiling panels were warped in the bathroom. I called letting the front office know. They gave us a nonsmoking room. This room was up to standards but the walls are thin hearing the conversation from the room beside us. Bathroom was also dirty went to change the bags of trash and the container was dirty. Shower was also dirty. Had to shower with slides on. Furniture was missing drawers and knobs. Following this the AC also struggled to stay on. Breakfast they offer included bananas, cereal, bread, and oatmeal. Was not pleased with the experience. Was happy to leave .

It was less than satisfying. I was greeted by a non-working toilet on Friday as I checked in. I made the front desk personnel aware of the situation, only to be told that there is no maintenance available on the weekend. I wasn't offered a different ROOM?? Unbelievable.

Dirtiest hotel I have ever seen

Smells like weed in the lobby and most of the hotel. There was no one at the front desk 75% of the times we entered or left. Only 1 bed had a blanket. Bathroom ceiling tiles were coming off because there is no air vent or fan (I think probably water damage or mildew). It is priced low so you get what you pay for.

My stay was good. The room was great for the price. It was neat and clean. Not upgraded but served the purpose.

Bed was big and comfortable. Room interior was a bit seedy, in my view. Breakfast was almost non-existent - juice, coffee, yogurt (one of two days), bread that could be toasted. Interior access, but most of the time the desk was not staffed, and anyone could come in. Rating should be seen as barely above poor. It was less expensive than others in the area.

First of all when we first came into the entrance, the place smell of marijuana and as we walked in, it also smelled of a lot of mildew. It was unacceptable. The room was disgusting. The entire hallway was mildew rusty. The fridge was disgusting door didn't close it was very rusty The bathroom was awful. No blankets on the bed We had to put a towel in the tub so we won’t stand in it, they had offered a continental breakfast and there was nothing continental about it. All it was cereal toast and a yogurt customer service was not that great either I would not recommend this hotel to anybody health features are terrible. I’m surprised It has not closed down YET it passed any Inspection of code

Old hotel that looked and smelled old and tired. Desk clerk is behind bullet proof glass. Didn't make me feel very safe. Glad I was only staying one night, and my wife was not with me. She would have made us leave.

The staff was very nice but the property is VERY run down and old. The room was dirty and had dead roaches in the room. The cleaning ladies never made it to our room so we ended up just grabbing new towels from her cart each day. The room served it's purpose which was for sleeping but if your looking for a long stay look elsewhere.

This was by far the most disgusting hotel I have EVER stayed at. The smell of weed smoke and cigarette smoke as you walked into the front doors literally takes your breath away. Our room looked as if it had never been cleaned. One of the beds mattress covers had blood stains all over it. The bathroom looked as if had never been cleaned. The roach infestation was awful. There were roaches EVERYWHERE!!! DO NOT STAY HERE. This place needs to be bulldozed to the ground.

I would not recommend this hotel. Staff was lukewarm. Cockroach seen on the breakfast area floor. Constant smell of Lysol, though it clearly didn’t kill the roaches. Offered first or floor second floor room and chose first not realizing that is the pet friendly floor. Would have been nice to be told that since I clearly didn’t have a dog. Toilet didn’t flush first night due to a water pipe or main issue. Would have been nice to be notified instead of me contacting desk.

Cereal or toast. The trash outside wasn’t changed all weekend and it smelt like Warm garbage. We almost debated leaving night one but we were just there to sleep a few hours each night. Spend a little more money and go somewhere nicer.

A musty odor lingered due to inadequate ventilation. Despite these shortcomings, I must commend the check-in attendant for their prompt and courteous assistance in promptly addressing my concerns and arranging a room change.
