The location was amazing. It wasn't clean. The AC was so so. Eventhough the hotel is smoke free it smells weed everywhere. Breakfast wasn't good either.

Breakfast was fine........normal............coffee available 24/7...........good parking.............. Checking in the desk person was sort of rude, short with an attitude...........not sure what the problem was

The room was quiet. Parking was difficult because we needed a handicapped space. Theirs were full, but vehicles parked there had no indication plate or window tag.

The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and everything was in working order. The only negative was the king mattress. It had seen better days. It felt like you were falling into a hole when you turned over too close to the middle. For $247 for the night, I expected a comfortable bed.

Breakfast options were good. Our rooms were not in the same area. And our entire floor smelled like marijuana, in the evening and even first thing in the morning.

The hotel looked tired and public areas floors half cleaned. The breakfast was not very well prepared or presented. Bacon half cooked and eggs very watery. Cereal would not come out of container. Only white bread and breast not whole wheat. No jelly

Convenient location and the bed was comfortable. Water pressure in the shower was barely more than a trickle. This hotel seemed to attract some interesting folks who liked to hang out in the hotel lobby and near the entrance. Kind of uncomfortable. But once in the room, everything seemed safe and secure. The parking area could use more lighting.

In a good location with lots of shopping and dining. My car got damage on the property. I got a severe puncture on my door according to the dent repair service it was done by a tool. The entire time I was there grounds keepers were working outside. I’m not sure if it was mistakenly done by them or it was another guest.

The room was clean and most of the staff was very nice. It was a little noisy but sometimes you just have that in a busy hotel on a holiday weekend. They charged an refundable $100 fee for incidentals. Haven't received my refund yet. Hopefully this week.

A man came knocking on my door late at night thinking it was his room - I was booked in 3 different rooms and when I checked out my room was in someone else’s name and someone else was in a room with my name - don’t know how that happened

The room was very clean and the staff was so pleasant the entire stay! Very much enjoyed the location! Close to Busch Gardens and Virginia Beach!

After I left the hotel, I realized that I had left a small pair of earrings behind. I checked out two days ago and just now called the front desk, but I was referred to a Lost and Found website, where I have already registered the earrings. The front desk person refused to take a description of the earrings, check with housekeeping, or even take my contact information. I got the feeling that standard procedure was all that mattered, not a caring attitude in helping me get my belongings back.

It was a wonderful stay, and I’d like to sincerely thank the manager and Norma for their exceptional help. I had misplaced my wedding ring and a bracelet, and they went above and beyond to locate them. I truly appreciate their honesty and kindness.

There needs to be more lighting in the room..there were 2 lamps; no lights in the ceiling or even more lights. The light in the bathroom (around the mirror)..cool but need brighter lights..once agian no lights in the ceiling bathroom

When I arrived front desk person had me wait for 15+ minutes on check-in, while she spoke on phone laughing with friends/family. Water pressure was bad in show - more like a trickle.

I liked how quiet the hotel was and the location. The staff was super friendly as well. The coffee was not good and the breakfast selection was very limited, but I will admit, I am super picky about my coffee. ;)

I cannot say any negative about my stay- it was a quick one night stay - this is the 4th time we have stayed here since October of last year. It is conveniently located in the middle of the 2 places we needed to go- Gloucester Point and New Port News. When you walk in the first thing you notice is how clean it is- and then how nice the staff is. Will be staying here again in April!

Breakfast selection was minimal and not great; watery eggs and thin bacon that didn’t look done, no other sides. My king bed had 4 mini pillows like for your sofa! When asked to replace them, they said that they didn’t have any more pillows. I will not be returning there!

The room’ bedding needed to be refreshed and the carpet needs to be cleaned. I like that the hotel was close to Patrick Henry Mall. However, at times some of the guest were noisy. I appreciated the free beverages throughout the day and night. Breakfast was standard.

Overall the room was nice. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was okay but needed some variety. We had barking dogs across the hall every time we came in or out, but the front desk said they would call the room.. The only complaint would be the comfort of the bed. Mattress was very hard and the pillows were small and not very comfortable. We had an accessible room with a roll in shower that was perfect for my husband.

When we checked in the lady at the front desk was nice. When we got to our room and got settled, we unpacked I noticed that there were sticky rings on the TV stand where somebody had set glasses down and it didn’t get wiped up. I bring wipes with me so I wiped that up then we turned down the sofa bed and found a used dried baby wipe still in the bed. The sofa was ripped, had pink paint stains all over it and was filled with salt or sand. I went and let them know at the front desk. they switched us to another room, but it wasn’t the room that we wanted instead of a king with a sofa bed we got two full beds. The bathroom light was fluorescent and burning out. It flashed constantly. The maintenance man told me that he would come and replace the bulb the next day which he never did. When we were in bed, going to sleep, the front desk clerk rented the room that we were in and so a man came in our room while we were in bed. My children were terrified when I threw on my robe and went to the front desk the young lady, a different one then from when I checked in, was very rude to me and told me it was an accident. She acted as if I was crazy for being upset. I told her this man opened our door and walked completely into our room and stood there looking at us. She deactivated his key and when she did that she deactivated mine so I couldn’t get back into my room to comfort my terrified kids. We travel twice a month for business, and I will never stay in a comfort Inn again

The rooms are clean and the beds are really comfortable for a hotel bed. Breakfast has been really good. One of our favorite things is the coffee maker in the lobby!! It is also right at the mall. And not very far from Riverside hospital. This will be our go to every time from now on!

The staff was not great we had a extra day snafu and the staff was extremely pushy. There was a child in the lobby every morning that was very noisy. The room was clean and ok. The batroom needed some work and the tub was slippery. For an accessibility room the tub need some traction.

Staff was welcoming. Bed was very comfortable. The room appears to have been partially renovated, but is kind of a mixed bag of decor. Biggest issue: Room doors all have an uncomfortably wide gap at the bottom of them (1. 5 inches) that we felt was a security risk. (We stuffed towels in the gap.)Whole place could use a deep cleaning, but it wasn't awful. Just noticed some missed spots on the carpet in the room and pink slime in a few spots in the shower. Did like the hot drink machine that is available. Rooms could use some maintenance. Bathroom door hinges are rusted, so door squeaks when opeing or closing.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, breakfast had good variety (loved the strawberry waffles!). The coffee machine in the lobby was nice. Only complaints were that the shower curtain fell off several times, the outlet cover in the bathroom was coming off of the wall, and the vending machine only took cash.

Breakfast was not good. And we stayed an extra night and they did not offer a cheaper rate knowing we were unhappy. I was going to stay here again in February, but canceled my reservation and now going somewhere else. If you don’t mind cleaning you own room and getting your own towels this is your place. I will not stay here again.

Upon returning to check in desk advised this location did not have room selected and nothing available like I selected. With that being said, room itself was fine and staff friendly and helpful. Just frustrated over not getting what I selected and believe this is app/Choice fault.

The only real problem was I booked a king room for me and my wife but the TV didn’t work and then I was moved to a double room were we didn’t sleep so well I think the beds were twin size but if in area I would stay again just make sure I got my King bed

The lamp and refrigerator were unplugged from the power strip. The toilet would not always flush. I had to remove the tank lid and jiggle the chain to get the tank filled with water.

The room was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable along with the bedding. It has a good sized refrigerator. The breakfast was outstanding and the dining area was spacious and comfortable. There plenty of shopping nearby ( including Patrick Henry Mall). Gaming for kids “ Tilt” is inside the mall.

As for the room it was clean but had a funky odor in the room. Maybe needs carpet shampooed. If we had been staying for more than one night I probably would have requested a different room. Overall we would stay again, but not in room 212.

We booked this place for a run of shows at the Hampton Coliseum. The room was comfortable and quiet. My biggest complaint was that the pool was closed with no indication of that when we booked. It was above 80 the whole time and it would have been nice to be able to relax in the pool.

Next to a mall if you want to buy new sneaks and the price was unbeatable. Would return without a question. Clarissa greeted us with such warmth and made us feel welcome. Plus bacon at the breakfast bar!

You could tell they painted over the mold in the shower. Mold was on the shower floor and the front desk/ lobby area was so loud all night. The walls are paper thin and you could hear everything if you were on the first hallway

Had a good night's stay at this hotel. Beds are comfortable, hotel has plenty of parking, and they have a coffee/tea/hot chocolate machine in the lobby, which is complimentary. Breakfast was provided and contained muffins, toast, yogurt, eggs, biscuits and gravy, plus waffles, among other things. The only issue is this is a pet friendly hotel. The room across the hall had a very loud barking dog. Staff moved us, but we had to get a queen room instead of the king we paid for, because king was not available. That said, for one night the room was fine. We'd stay here again.

This is my go to hotel in Newport News. It's always a lower price than the surrounding hotels, but rated just as high if not higher. This was my 4th stay at the property and I was very pleased. Check-in is always a breeze, room was clean and quiet.

I booked this hotel by accident. I arrived after dark to a dimly lit parking lot in an area that made me uncomfortable. There was nowhere to park temporarily for check in. I got off the elevator to a dimly lit hallway which made it difficult to read the signs to find my room. Found my room to discover there was no complimentary bar soap. The plastic toilet seat slipped when sat upon. I went down to breakfast to find wet sticky floors in the whole food service area. The five pillows on the king bed were tightly folded into squares and the towels were folded fancy. Would I stay here again? Its not my first choice in the area, but the bathroom wasn't moldy, so yes, if I had to.

It was close to everything I needed

The only problem I had was your breakfast. It is horrible. If y’all fix that it would definitely be a five star well considered as one, but overall not bad.

It was a horrible stay. Room felt and smelt dirty. Overwhelming smell of urine from bathroom. And could not open a window for fresh air. Normally I don’t have a problem with King size rooms but doubles are not so good.

I have stayed here before over a year ago and felt that we were happy with the location then. However, on this stay we were unhappy on many levels. First, the thermostat wasn’t working well. It was either ice cold or very hot. If it was really cold and we tried to turn it up a degree or two, it immediately switched to heat. Second, the TV wasn’t working, and when I tried to turn it off with the remote last night I couldn’t, and couldn’t find a power switch on the TV and left it on all night. There was no shower curtain in the shower, so we had to shower close to the wall to prevent the bathroom from getting soaked. The bathroom was not cleaned well. I (female) came back to the hotel without my husband in the evening and found I had to park in the back of the building. I couldn’t tell if I could get in the door back there, it would be helpful for it to be labeled to indicate you can enter there, and that area isn’t lit well.

Great stay. Comfortable. Hotel is easy to get to. Alot of restaurants and ahopping near. We stayed here before our cruise. Would atay again.

Stay was ok, for the p[rice not too bad. But, breakfast seemed to be unorganized (ran out of a lot of things and took a long time to be refilled). The room was clean, but the sink in the bathroom showed cracks. Overall, I would recommend it for the price, location is right across the mall. We stayed there for Busch Garden visit.

My family of 10 and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights from August 1-3, 2025, for a family service. We stay about 2 nights. I reserve about 10 rooms. When we first went into the rooms, the smell was very bad. I had to purchase some room freshener and spray in each room, because I was embarrassed that I chose this hotel, due to the reviews. The reviews were a lie, and I felt betrayed because of it. The worst thing was also when the air stopped working in the breakfast room, and they had to plug up an industrial fan to keep the people cool. we paid a lot of money for 2 nights and were already hurting from losing a loved one, and then we had to indulge in staying in a very bad hotel. When I went outside to set just to relax, I had to walk over trash after trash in front of the building. I asked if there was a manager on site to talk to about how bad this was. we travel so far/ she needs to do something to make the guest happier. I was told no manager on site. I am sorry, Comfort Inn Newport News- Hampton I-64, you need to do better and treat your guests right.

Rather than being warned or charged a fee, I was evicted from their property after I paid for two nights and was there only 2 hours. They pounded on my door and said to pack my bags and get out. They also told me they had called the authorities, so I better comply. I was also told as soon as I got downstairs, I had to pay them the damage fee of $250. When I told them I didn’t have any more money, they said fine, and put me on a list to never book a room for me again. I was kicked out into the street and had to sleep in a parking lot for the night. I understand I broke the rules, but when I read about these new detectors on the internet it said that guests should be properly warned of the consequences of breaking the rules and it should be posted. They are privately owned and there is absolutely no language anywhere on their website that says you will be evicted from your room with no warning.

Breakfast was not good, all in all stay was not horrible and would consider staying if return but the bathroom was too small and air conditioner was unable to get at right setting…the service was mediocre …the breakfast was not good…sausage not cooked enough and smelled awful…but the lady who cleaned rooms was good. The only really good thing was location was convenient to where we needed to go.

Room was good for the night. Clean, good AC, nice sized TV. Only real complaint, which isn't really something that is controllable by the property, was some of the other guests having what sounded like a convention out in the hall outside the rooms quite loudly after midnight (on a Monday). Didn't help that our room was directly across from the elevator, but again not the property's fault. Property states breakfast, and I was quite surprised to see a full hot breakfast in the morning.

Good place we had a travel hiccup and had to stay overnight in town unplanned waiting on a flight clean and comfortable they also checked us in early which was amazing as we were stuck out of state with luggage

This property was clean and fine for the night. We had these unusual tiny half pillows on the bed instead of the standard pillows. There was a HUGE gap under every bedroom. We placed a bath towel under the door when in the room to close the gap.

We stayed a week there. The staff and people we interacted with were great but the housekeeping was awful. Three days there was no towels and one day they dumped the trash but didn't make the bed. Over fourth of july weekend there were a lot of people, with the way the breakfast was layed out ( everything in the left corner) made it hard to get things like milk and butter while others were making waffles. Even trying to get the hot food was difficult. I do appreciate that they had hot chocolate available.

I would like to add that two of the staff members get an A+ from my husband and I their friendliness and efficiency and just their all around presence made our stay that much better. Nautica was at the front desk on our arrival—there was an issue with my card but she didn’t make me feel embarrassed in any way she kept smiling and working on it till problem was solved. Live that girl. The other woman I’m sorry I don’t know her name was the breakfast attendant. She was very thin and a smile that lit up the room. Don’t know her age but she had the energy of a teen She was the hardest worker I’d ever seen. She made sure everyone had everything they needed without ever asking. And she greeted everyone like they were family

Location is wonderful. I was impressed that they only had one elevator for the building so that worried me. That weekend was very crowded and noisy.

The staff is amazing! Breakfast was good. I have stayed at this location before and plan to stay there again. Super accomidating to our needs and could not ask for a better stay. It was clean and never felt insecure as just women traveling. Again - stayed before - came back for the eggs - will be back for the awesome staff that made the trip even better. I cannot say thank you enough.

Great experience overall. The bed was comfortable. 24 hour coffee and lemon infuse water was a bit hit for me. As I am a coffee drinker. The safe was were super friendly. Would recommend.

The hotel's alright, I guess. We stayed there for two nights, five of us. Breakfast was pretty bad, just the basics, like scrambled eggs and either sausage or bacon. Both tasted awful. And forget about ketchup – they didn't have any! I don't get why they even bother with breakfast if they can't even meet the simplest needs. No bananas, just one tiny apple. They should've just done grab-and-go; that would've been better.

It was a lovely stay, the elevator stopped working and with 2 toddlers it was hard going up the stairs but breakfast was always a nice experience especially with the breakfast lady she was lovely it felt like we were with family when she was there. And the room was also very comfy!

Check-in and out were quick and easy. Staff was friendly. Room was clean, bed comfortable. It was close to Kiln Creek Golf Club where we were attending an event.

Unfortunately, I had small roaches in the room each day.

I stayed on the first floor with my kids. It was really noisy the entire time I was there. Other guest were arguing in the middle of the night in the hallway, kicking and beating on their doors. I literally didn't sleep the entire night.

I had a late check-in (after 9pm) but had to wait at the front desk because there was no one there to check me in. I called the front desk multiple times and the phone rang, but no one came. After waiting several minutes, someone came to check me in and actually said my room number out loud while handing me my card, which made me feel uncomfortable. I was even more uncomfortable when seeing it was a double room. When checking out then next morning, the front desk person was attending to a baby

Yulanda and her daughter Nautica are just wonderful. Our TV would not play properly and they went above and beyond to get us a replacement and went so far as to get us a new one. I highly recommend this Comfort Inn, they are great and I thank them for everything.

Me and my fiancé did enjoy the hotel. For a Comfort Inn we were surprised by how clean it was, although some sheets had some bad stains. The front desk workers were nice, and the breakfast lady was awesome and so friendly. A solid breakfast, clean pool.

Give the weekend breakfast staff help. Everything was well cooked. But only 1 person is insane when people are trying to eat and leave. Unaware of $100 deposit that was NOT credited back. Currently following up with my bank to be investigated.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We had a confirmed reservation for Memorial Day weekend—one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. We booked in advance, planned around it, and even called to double-check. Everything seemed fine… until we were literally minutes away from the hotel at 2 AM, when I called to let them know we were close and they informed us: “We don’t have your room. We are fully booked.” No apology. No explanation. No offer to help us find another place to stay. We were just abandoned, exhausted, and left scrambling to find a room in a completely booked-up area in the middle of the night. This wasn’t a mistake—it was a total failure in basic hospitality and a complete lack of professionalism. You don’t sell out people’s rooms and leave them stranded without recourse. Ever. Do yourself a favor: avoid this hotel at all costs. If they can leave us out in the cold on a holiday weekend, they’ll do it to you too.

This property would have to be the most horrible hotel I have tried to stay in , the hotel staff is sooooo unprofessional and rude , I was waiting for a room and they were outside smoking ! I would never recommend this hotel to anyone

One major problem. The tv is very complicated. It comes on for you to select one of four midsts with now infor as to which one. Each time we left and came back we spent 20 minutes trying to get regular TV.

The staff are very personable and accommodating. They make you feel like family. I’d reserved an ADA room and was informed during check-in (was super late coming) that the hotel was full. I did receive a room that was reasonable, but not what I’d reserved. My husband, who uses crutches, had some difficulty navigating the room. It appeared to be in some sort of construction. The door to the room had white paint marks on it. The light in the shower was coming down. The rug area where the baseboards meet was coming away from the wall. All of this considering, I would return provided I had a more comfortable room.

I don’t like being lied to but even more I don’t like when someone assumes I’m lying to them.On March 1st, I asked for a late check out for room 137. The night shift desk service gentleman looked in the computer and then told me he could give me a noon check-out. The next morning I hear a knock at my door. I informed the cleaning lady I had a late check out. Then I received a phone call saying I didn’t have a late checkout. The night shift service gentleman didn’t inform him. I proceeded to tell the day shift service desk worker I was told I had a late checkout. He said no, he would give me until 11:30am to be out. Very unprofessional service workers.

This was a business trip. The only thing that I didn't care for is that our company and team stays here a lot and we have never had any issues. With this particular stay they requested a deposit even though the room was paid in full by the company. They ended up taking our coordinators only 60 that she was given to eat. She did get it back when she checked out but I feel that there is definitely another way to do this so that if the room is paid for the team member doesn't suffer in any way.

Very surprised at how nice and clean this Comfort Inn was. I bring my own cleaning products when I travel and was pleasantly surprised that nothing was on my Clorox wipes. Rooms are in disrepair and you can tell it was previously smoked in. Switch covers were dirty, outlets were loose in the wall, mold in the shower, carpet had holes. Not worth the 125 we paid.

Female staff at the front desk were very nice. Breakfast extremely poor. No coffee, except for the one from a machine in the hotel, which tasted horrible. Only drink for breakfast was juice from the machine. We tried it and only the syrup came out. The person in charge (a man at the front desk) had not plugged it in or turned the water inflow on. He was fresh and asked us to try to make it work, and he did only when we complained about it. We told him there was no water and he sais he recommended to use the water from the gym. After we insisted, he realized nothing was plugged. You can figure out the rest if the stay.

I think there was a mosquito in the room caus I kept getting bit. It even woke me up. But rather than that the hotel was quiet and customer service was very kind.

We were in the area for a family/ church gathering. Personnel was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, bathroom had a shower, they even had a slip mat just in case you needed it. A hotel very good for the price and pretty central to Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk and Williamsburg.

We have stayed here several times and each time has been very pleasant. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. Our room is comfortable and clean. It is quiet and relaxing. The price is very reasonable for the quality. We will be back.

Hotel is fairly well kept. A bit dated, but not terrible. Stayed in a king accessible room. Room had a mildew smell, the shades were dirty and the grout in the bathroom shower as well. While it looked "clean" it wasn't deep cleaned very often. Breakfast was ok and the attendant was as nice as can be. Front desk staff at check-in was also nice. If you are looking for a cheap stay with no frills in an area with easy interstate access, shopping and dining nearby, then this will do well for you.

Wonderful staff, very friendly and courteous, especially the gentleman at the front desk. Room was clean and quiet, and the location is close to many food options. The hotel breakfast is also quite good for a comfort inn and was served fresh and warm even towards the end of service.

Overall experience was good, busy holiday weekend stayed one night, next morning breakfast was crowded and only had one poor lady trying to accommodate all the items that ran out (juice station, coffee station, eggs, sausages, bread, waffles etc. Maybe they should have 2-3 people during this long holiday weekends, hope the lady got a bonus for working extra hard. Room was clean, all other amenities were in working condition. We had to park on the rear side of the hotel and seemed not well illuminated and seemed sketchy. Other than that, I wouldn’t mind coming back to this hotel in the future.

The staff was absolutely amazing. Check in was very fast, easy and friendly. Breakfast was very good and changed daily. We didn't us the maid service as we stayed or several days, but when I asked for clean towels it was no problem. Only issue I had was that the tv was difficult to figure out. The remote needs to be user friendly!! We will stay here again.

When we got into the room and closed the door there was a large space towards the bottom of the door and we could see through it. The bathroom had a dirty washcloth hanging up over the shower, making me think that the bathroom wasn't clean. I requested extra pillows and there were 4 tiny pillows on a king size bed Luckily we were only there for 1 night. Don't think we'll stay there again.

It was clean and the employees was courteous and helpful

The desk staff was very friendly. However, the hotel is a bit run down, and then when I was taking a shower at 6:45, someone pounded on my door and yelled until I opened it in a towel. Some lady who presumably works there said the shower was leaking into her office. This wasn’t any fault of mine. I was using the curtain properly, and water was not going onto the floor. Additionally, the shower head is very low, and the tub was not draining properly while I showered.
