Reviews
The hotel is praised for its excellent location, with many guests appreciating its proximity to Central Park, Times Square, and the subway. The staff is consistently described as friendly and helpful. The breakfast and evening happy hour are frequently mentioned as highlights. However, there are several complaints about hidden fees, particularly a daily resort fee, and issues with room amenities such as air conditioning and cleanliness. Some guests also express disappointment with the condition of the rooms and the hotel's facilities.

On the website, they announced high speed internet and this was one of the reasons I booked my stay at Westhouse. But internet speed was very, very slow.

Lovely property, good location with proximity to Central Park and Broadway shows.

The hotel and our suite were fantastic, and the breakfast and happy hour drinks and nibbles were always delicious. Staff is wonderful.

This hotel is a gem. Very nice rooms. Secure fast elevators. Beautiful breakfast/afternoon food eating area on 23rd floor with gorgeous large balcony. Coffee all day and a lovely place to work during the day and nice area off lobby as well. Great location.

After staying in New York City many times, this is probably one of the best stays I’ve ever had. The rooms were clean, the staff was amazing and Location was excellent. What really made this place great was the morning breakfast staff and the evening happy hour staff. Specifically one staff member Sonia who served the wine and attended to all the guests made this stay extremely amazing. We met so many nice people and the staff made this stay extra special. I would highly recommend this location to returning New York visitors or new visitors as well.

Location was great, walking distance to Central Park was great! Went for my daughter’s birthday and they truly made her feel special! I could not have asked for a better stay. Loved everything

last night was a complete write off, as the room directly across the hall had maintenance attending to something, between 9pm and 2am - with incredibly thin door (or all the gaps around the main door, and a light immediately opposite it is very easy to see)- the noise kept waking me up the night before I had an early 4am departure to catch an international flight. If anyone had been at the front desk I would have requested a refund for that night. Clean sheets, an a bell man that helped with bags were the highlights. Iron and umbrella in the room. That will be my only visit to Westhouse. Staff was performing bare minimum (perhaps you get what you pay for). Hotel BelleClaire or Arthouse, plenty of others in same price range that are more fair value. I did want to like this one.

Excellent staff. Well trained and caring. They were responsive to requests. All very good.

I think overall if you are looking for an extremely central location, this is the place. However, I don't believe that it is five star and shouldn't be seen as one. The staff were very helpful and the room and hotel was ok but it was very dated, there was rust on different units and the equipment and the hotel itself is run down and dated. Also, I think the residents fee charged is ridiculous and should be opitional, it significantly lessened the savings we were making compared to other hotels.Overall, it was a perfect place for our stay due to the location and we found the staff very helpful but would not be in a rush to stay again due to the above reasons.
- 4.5/5
Great location. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I loved to be able to pop in for a drink and snacks in the afternoon in the breakfast hall. I also appreciated the water bottles that I could get in the lobby when I got back to the hotel room. I have stayed in in Westhouse before and I will definitely stay again. Comfortable bed and shower.

I stayed at WestHouse Hotel for one week with my mother and sister. We enjoyed our stay very much. When I come to New York again, most probably I will choose this hotel to stay. The staff, including the front desk, concierge, housekeeping, and terrace, were extremely helpful in any case during our stay. Especially in the Terrace area, we enjoyed ourselves very much thanks to all the workers. The terrace area, which you can use for beverages and snacks all day, is a very nice area to freshen up. Moreover, the dinner and breakfast are very good considering the other hotels in the area. Even though the room with two queen beds has sufficient space, the storage area is very limited for three people. Therefore, we mostly stored our belongings in our suitcases. The storage area should be enhanced. In many hotels, there are adaptor converters, considering the European to American type. However, the hotel could not provide this.

Great location close to Central Park! The buffet breakfast offered hot and cold food selections, including fresh fruit and Greek yoghurt. The daily happy hour and early buffet dinner are convenient if you have a 7 pm show to catch. The club staff was very friendly and attentive. We had some problems with the toilet not flushing properly (fixed promptly) and the sink draining very slowly (required repeated calls to the front desk before it was addressed).

Service-excellent Helpful staff Nice breakfast and cortesy of stay after hours Noise. Cleaning staff very noisy, high voices and slamping doors. The hotel is located in a busy neighborhood. Room in upper floor preferable.

This is hands down such a fantastic hotel, friendly staff and very close to everything. It started with Vanessa at checkin, she was fantastic and was able to get us checked in a little early and provided my sister and I a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate our birthday. We went to see La Traviata at the Met Opera and ate at La Grand Boucherie- incredible food, it was a spectacular overnight celebration. It was so special. Highly recommend staying here.
- 3/5
Clean room. Bed not very comfortable. No white wine at he happy hour the entire time we were there. No towels in the room when we arrived. Snooty staff woman at the happy hour. Very nice folks at the front desk. I love the location and breakfast was good. Not as great of an experience as the first time I stayed a few years ago.

This was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at in New York City at this price point. They could’ve charged a lot more. The concierge and the front desk staff are amazing. Make sure you tip well. I had the luck of tipping the bellman and the Porter and was able to park my car right in front of the hotel. They do not have a garage in the hotel but there’s one three blocks away. A very nice tip goes a long way at this hotel. The staff is absolutely the most accommodating group of people. The breakfast in the afternoon happy hour food were top notch. I would absolutely switch to this hotel if I were anybody reading this review.

I loved the hotel. I got a great room with super comfortable bed and pillows. The terrace and evening snacks are a nice add on. And what’s most important, the front desk Team was amazing. I’ll come back!

The Westhouse has its merits, but our experience was significantly impacted by a room placement issue that staff failed to resolve. We were assigned a room adjacent to the service elevator and housekeeping closet, resulting in constant noise throughout the day. While this kind of room assignment can happen, what made it unacceptable was how it was handled. We requested a room change, were told someone would follow up and no one ever did. When we reached out again ourselves, we were informed that "no one had called them," essentially dismissing our concern entirely. To be fair, there were aspects of the hotel we appreciated, and the property itself has genuine appeal. But a hotel's quality is just as much about service recovery as it is about the initial experience. When a guest raises a legitimate concern and is met with silence followed by a denial, that reflects a serious gap in communication and accountability. We would hope future guests are given more central room assignments or at minimum, a staff team that follows through on its commitments.
- 5/5
I love staying at the Westhouse. The staff are very helpful and attentive. It’s a great location as you are near the park and close to good subway links. My room was clean and spacious and I really enjoy the terrace area.

Very good hotel for the money. Good location, clean, good staff,

The hotel staff were fabulous. We stayed here five years ago and nice to see some of the same staff. Service was exceptional. Rooms were clean. A few misses by housekeeping but didn’t detract from the stay. We love the amenities like to breakfasts and cocktail/snack hours. Easy access to Central Park and to Times Square.
- 5/5
The room was clean and well appointed. The heat/ac unit works great, which is important to me. Included in the extra fee is a breakfast and dinner (with complimentary wine and beer) that is exceptional. Lots of good food and yummy desserts. Staff are terrific. They were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.

This property is a disgrace to the SLH brand, the facility is old, tired, dirty, unkept. The staff are not cooperative or helpful, very confrontational, they don’t understand guest and hotel management. The rooms were never cleaned upon my 6 days stay, just once tidied up upon great difficulty and argument with the manager. Our phone did not work on the 22nd floor, which is a safety hazard, and they sent a technician on day 4 almost at midnight to attempt to fix it. This place is maximum 2 stars and I am traumatized by the experience there.

The hotel is just a 3-minute walk from Carnegie Hall, which is extremely convenient. The happy hour provided by the hotel was substantial enough to count as dinner and was filling, and the breakfast offered a wide variety of options and was very satisfying. The staff handling luggage storage were especially friendly. Before we got our room, we went in and out several times, and they patiently helped us retrieve our belongings each time.

Wonderful staff and excellent stay! Very convenient to everything we needed. Would highly recommend.

The staff was very friendly and the amenities were fantastic.

Excellent location for midtown venues and connection to subway lines. Room was large by NYC norms, King bed as very comfortable and sheets changed every day. Door staff and concierges very helpful Room decor and hotel in general was needing refreshed. The air-conditioning and heating had a mind of its own. No light in the tiny closet. The elevator security card access was a nuisance. We had 3 rooms on different floors and we could not visit each other as we could only access the floor our keys were coded for

Good Best location
- 4/5
Very quiet hotel in the heart of manhattan. Lovely rooms that were quite large by NYC standards. Bed was comfortable. Room well appointed. Could use more thoughtful lighting in areas where you unpack luggage, and lobby bar closure a little disappointing. However the breakfast was absolutely excellent and the evening appetizer and cocktail time a very nice addition to the stay. Definitely a hidden gem! Would for sure stay again.
- 5/5
The rooms are great clean and stylish, but still incredibly comfortable. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the small details to make the space feel warm and high-end without being over the top. What really makes this hotel stand out, though, is the staff. They are so welcoming and genuinely happy to help with anything. Their service is on another level, and they really go out of their way to make you feel like a guest they actually care about. The amenities are just as good. The terrace is a perfect place to unwind, and the breakfast was honestly delicious. Everything they serve is fresh and high-quality; it’s clear they actually care about the food. Location wise, you can't beat it. It’s right by Central Park and Times Square, so you have easy access to all the best restaurants, bars, and sights. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels in NYC, but WestHouse is a standout. You definitely get what you pay for here. I’ll absolutely be staying here again whenever I’m back in the city.

This hotel dont deserve the title « small luxury hotel « Small definitely, but luxury absolutely not. The person who was able to fit a sink, a toilet and a shower in such a small space deserve a prize! No amenities in the bathroom. Not even the basic as cotton pads or shower cap. I requested a toothpaste , it took 90 minutes and 5 calls to get it. The next day I left the hotel at 1pm, put the sign to clean my room on the door, until 3pm nobody has come. I left again at 4pm, requested the service by phone and some cotton pads, at 11pm the room was not clean, but cotton pads were in the room. So someone came in, but did not bother to make sure that the room was clean even with the sign at the door… The room doesn’t have a coffee machine, alarm clock and fourniture is old and damaged. I have two more night left in this hotel and don’t know what to expect. Every time it gets worse. Do not recommend.
- 4.5/5
Amazing location, a warm climate, and a true sense of home from the moment you arrive—largely thanks to the genuine friendliness of the employees. Even if your room is on a higher floor, the elevators are impressively fast, so there’s hardly any waiting. My room was comfortable, impeccably clean, and offered a lovely view of the vibrant Broadway district. There’s also a wonderful restaurant on the 23rd floor, with a spacious balcony overlooking the skyline. It offers complimentary breakfast, along with midday snacks and a light lunch. The overall atmosphere is exceptionally hospitable and welcoming, it truly makes you feel at home. Great value for your money! Some aspects of the room could benefit from an update, such as the mirrors and the phone. I also had some difficulty communicating with the front desk. There is no coffee maker or kettle in the room, and amenities like coffee or tea are only available upon request. Additionally, valet service is not provided. Guests are required to drive their car a couple of Manhattan blocks to a nearby garage that collaborates with the hotel, which can be quite inconvenient, especially when managing luggage. Unless you make multiple trips between the garage and the hotel, you’ll need to carry your suitcases yourself, as the hotel will only hold them once you return.
- 1/5
I was asked to pay deposit refundable at checkout. There was literally nothing in the room, that could potentially affect the deposit, except for complimentary bottle of water. No mini bar, no vanity kit, no robes and slippers, not even laundry bag. Yet the deposit has not been refunded. I can see other guests have complained about it too. I have emailed the hotel but have not heard back. Because of that I would give low rating
- 1.5/5
It is very old and outdated hotel, dirty old carpets, broken lamps, cracked walls. Very disappointed with the room quality.
- 5/5
Amazing location, very helpful staff, nice breakfast spread.
- 5/5
All staff we came into contact with from front desk to housekeeping to breakfast/happy hour to doormen were super attentive, very friendly and seemed to sincerely see us. The happy hour/dinner and breakfast provided surprisingly good food, lots of variety and very generous pours! Sonia was a standout and we looked forward to seeing her each evening. Beds and bedding very comfortable. Room nicely appointed and clean.

Location was excellent access to all famous area from Central Park time Square shopping mall everywhere excellent excellent location Only problem was housekeeping issues I know by the time we were there was heavy snow and possible short staff but Housekeeping was not good at all even day manger was agree with me

Amazing Breakfast and staff. Super luxurious and would 10/10 stay again!

Location It was dated and worn. This is a 3 star hotel pretending to be a 5 star hotel. Not worth the price given the current state of property and the lack of amenities.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable.

Friendly helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast. Great location.
- 4/5
It was a comfortable stay in a hotel as quiet as downtown New York can be thanks to the higher floors, with one of the better US hotel breakfasts I've had. The hotel is showing it's age in the room furniture, fixtures, carpets etc., but everything was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Staff was very courteous. Room could use some maintenance. Great location
- 5/5
We had a great stay! Hospitality was spectacular, the room was very clean, and not to mention it’s very close to the 1681 Broadway Theatre. Highly recommend.

Breakfast and happy hour was great. The front door staff helped me with ordering a taxi and stored my luggage.

I stayed at WestHouse while the city was in the middle of an arctic blast. My room, according to the thermostat was at 70°F, no heat to speak of even after turning the temp up to the highest setting it will allow. I called the front desk and was told the engineer would take a look but never did come. The room could use a face lift - wood panel peeling, missing switch for the light, etc). The buffet-style breakfast every morning was a pleasant amenity with the ability to get tea, coffee, etc during the course of the day. The staff was cordial from front desk, to maintenance to the buffet staff. I needed a quiet and peaceful getaway and my stay was just that despite a few hiccups.

The rooms are a worn, chipped furniture, damaged mirrors definitely needs a refresh to be considered 5 star.
- 4/5
The staff was very accommodating, and I love that the property has breakfast and happy hour included in the resort fee. I do feel as.
- 0.5/5
No value for money. Paid $900 for night and beside the location, the hotel is shouldnt be more than $400 max.
- 5/5
The location was excellent, several places within walking distance such as Central Park, Times Square, Broadway. The doormen and staff were always on point with any assistance we needed. It’s a very classy yet welcoming space throughout. We enjoyed the included breakfast and evening tapas and drinks. Our room bathroom was very spacious and closets were large. We had a terrace room and the terrace was very long, and the view was great! P.S. LOVED the huge chocolate chunk cookies upon check in, THAT’S the perfect way to welcome guests!! One of the elevators was in repair and our hotel only had one, although we were able to use the adjacent hotel’s elevators to get to our floor, so it wasn’t that bad, just a few times we had to wait a while.
- 1/5
DO NOT STAY HERE. The rooms dont have working HVAC. My room was 82 Fahrenheit at night with two portable fans going. They also have a 50.00 Per night resort fee. Ive filed a complaint with the City of New York.
- 5/5
All staff were reallly helpful, especially the lady who checked us in. Nice rooms
- 3/5
Facilities need work, staff is very good but cost of daily amenities exorbitant.

Excellent check-in staff
- 4/5
Great location. Amazing Staff! From the Bell Man to the Front Desk were very kind and accommodating. Very helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay a great one. Found the rooms be a little outdated and a small odour in the rooms. Bathrooms were tight, no fan in the washroom. Not enough lighting in the room. I don’t think the resort fee was worth the money.
- 0.5/5
Booking was accepted but when I showed up to check-in I was told they had overbooked. They made no effort to contact me ahead of check-in to make me aware. Conveniently, for them, they were able to offer me a stay at their sister hotel....
- 4/5
Room was clean but had marks on the wall. Tiny bathroom. Staff was friendly. Good breakfast.
- 2/5
Room not ready on arrival, didn’t get into it until 9pm. When we did the room did not have towels (apparently a shortage) & room not large enough for a family of 4. Need of refurbishing Room not cleaned on the first day. Breakfast buffet was ok but not the best.
- 5/5
The room was spotless, all the staff were helpful and courteous. Madison the manager went out of her way to accommodate us when there was a small maintenance issue which meant we were not able to stay in the room we had booked. She was very helpful and found us a delightful accommodation, making the 5 day stay a warm and welcoming experience. I will be booking here again.
- 1/5
Upon arrival we were told by the manager at the front desk that our reservation had been canceled due to a leak/ which we later learned it was due to overbooking. They said they had made us a reservation at another hotel a few blocks away and that it was a nicer hotel. We had no choice with luggage in hand and 2 kids to head to the other hotel.
- 5/5
The staff were amazing from check-in, breakfast and evening munchies to checkout. The location of the hotel was perfect for walking and taking the subway. The room and bathroom was a little small but we managed. Water pressure of the shower was also good. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The room was hot and the air conditioning didn’t work.
- 5/5
Room was great, and staff was very kind and helpful

The staff in the breakfast/happy hour area were fantastic. Sonia was exceptionally helpful and thoughtful throughout our stay. She welcomed us each time and remembered us. It is that type of recognition that adds to the enjoyment of your stay. Thank you Sonia!!
- 4/5
Room was very tired….chipped and cracked furniture…..doors scratched and chipped…..not up to the standards previously set by the Westhouse.
- 5/5
I loved the hotel. It has amazing location. You can walk to Central Park, you have restaurants very near which I recommend Sarabeth’s and Paris bar. The train station is few steps from the hotel. I was surprised by the room because it was big compare to other nyc hotels. The bathroom looks quite luxury. The bed was supper comfortable. And the room was very clean. The best of all was the view. We were in the 22 floor and love it.
- 5/5
Spacious Room was well equipped, with safe, luxury bathroom, vanity, fridge, excellent king bed, great sheets , occasional chair, closet, bench, etc. no coffee in room but coffee/cappuccino etc is on 23rd floor breakfast room most of the day. Rooms have nice art deco decor though showing a little wear
- 4/5

They did not honor and claimed to not receive reservation made on your site!! Called you a ‘third party’ and claimed no responsibility for error!
- 1/5
Poor customer service. Fees (hotel occupation) charged for more people than the ones who stayed. I told the front desk during check out and the lady couldn’t prorated it and needed to ask the Manager. I had to go to the airport so I couldn’t wait but sent a message to get a partial reimbursement. The hotel did not respond. I will have to dispute the transaction with my credit card company as the difference is > $200

Staff is amazingly nice and helpful.

Westhouse is a welcoming and beautiful hotel in the middle of the bustle and bustle of Manhattan. The rooftop is Superb!

Felt like luxury! My friends stayed down the street at the residence inn and courtyard (which was more $$) and this is leaps and bounds nicer!!

This location is not that great. The bathrooms were pretty dirty. There are lots of areas that are just old and has not been fixed or updated.

Perfect experience with great hotel staff and a really good vibe. A special shout out to Tarik who booked us in and to all the team covering the evening food and drink service - they were brilliant. Great location, excellent rooms and a really friendly personal service. Our favourite place to stay in NYC!

Staff was great! Manager learned we were there for my wife’s 60th birthday and upgraded our room. Family had ordered champagne to be delivered and the hotel included some birthday treats as well.
- 5/5
Loved the breakfast and early dinners. Everything was nice and delicious. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
I kind of don’t want to give the review this hotel is due bc it’s such a hidden gem, but this is my favorite hotel in Manhattan. The happy hour and breakfast are such a nice amenity and the room was lovely and clean and stylish. Such a treat to stay here!
- 5/5
Great location and staff. Easy to navigate and friendly staff with breakfast and happy hour when staying in a certain grade of room

The only room for improvement is in the bathroom- it needs a refresh and better lighting- for women to apply makeup;) This is probably our third or fourth visit
- 5/5
The staff honestly makes you feel wanted. The free breakfast, and snacks and wine in the private parlor are just so indulgent and relaxing.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel! I'd have to say that the best part is the staff, from the front desk people to the breakfast and dinner staff. Everyone was so nice and professional. the only negative was that after traveling all day, I got to the hotel and they did not have a room for me even though I made my reservation months in advance, I had to go to a "not so nice" hotel for the first night then took several hours the next day to get into a room. Thanks to Nick at the front desk who took care of everything for me, made sure to waive the resort fees and finally got me settled in. hotel is close to EVERYTHING! I felt safe in the hotel and when out walking (being a single female) the food provided from breakfast and in the evening was veery good and plentiful. Cocktails in the evening was also nice. I'd stay again
- 2/5
We were very disappointed with our stay. This is not a five star hotel as advertised.
- 3/5
The hotel lobby is nice and the rooms are standard NYC size. But the A/C in the room was terrible. The room was hot our entire stay.
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
not a five star hotel, the free breakfast was really not good.
- 1/5
I travel a lot for business and this is the first time I have ever stayed in a hotel that smelled and overcharged like this. Just because it is an old hotel doesn't mean it has to smell moldy and dirty. However, the hotel manager proudly told me that this hotel smelled because it was old. She didn't even apologize. This hotel charges a resort fee of $50 per person per day. There are many clean hotels nearby for much better prices. I will never stay here again.
- 5/5
Awsome location and very friendly staff from from counter to house keeping.
- 5/5
Excellent location, food and drink at night is a great thing to have onsite
- 4/5
We stayed 3 nights. Good location in midtown. Breakfast and Happy Hour every day was included. Parking is offsite but the kind lady at reception helped me out with the SpotHero app which found a great rate at a garage around the block. The room was small but we managed. The service was good and people were friendly. I used the gym for yoga because our room was too small. Room was clean and everything worked.

Second Time staying at WestHouse. Perfect Location and great Hotel.
- 4/5
There was a small issue on arrival, when reception did not have any record of the reservation that I had made 6 months earlier. After approx 20 minutes, this was rectified. We also didn’t receive any help with getting our luggage to our room, after asking twice we got it upstairs ourselves. The food and drinks in the Terrace was as lovely as usual, as were all the staff.
- 5/5
Enjoyed the staff and amenities this Hotel offers. Everyone was professional and helpful. Walked to theaters and surrounded by great shopping and Time Square.
- 3/5
I booked a Deluxe room with 2 Queen beds as my son is a teenager. We checked in before 7pm having flown from the Uk . The room had been given away . We were given 2 single rooms . My son is under 18 so not ideal. Not sure what level of room they were but there were no robes or slippers as advertised . And main point is we could not be in the same room with 2 beds , as i had booked months ago . Disappointing
- 4/5
My only complaint was there is no aur conditioning until the middle of April and it was 79 degrees outside. I asked for a fan to be brought to my room multiple times and I never got one.
- 5/5
The hotel is in a perfect location and close enough to walk everywhere (subway right outside on the corner). The hotel seem too busy, it was very grand and impressive. The sister hotel next door looked busier but the WestHouse had a nice homely feel. The rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard, they were not huge but perfectly furnished for a family. We had a stunning view from our room, looking down 7th avenue right at Times Square, which is so beautiful when all lit up at night. This would be the first thing we'd see in the morning and the last thing at night - picture postcard, stunning! The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. A special mention for Pagye (Senior VIP Manager) who was so friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for us to make our stay special, she was always smiling and even gave me a hug one day. All the staff are an absolute credit to the hotel and made our stay unforgettable. The Terrace (23rd floor) for breakfast and afternoon food / drinks (free) was fantastic and the food selection changed every night. We cannot praise this hotel and the staff enough. Thank you WestHouse, see you again sometime...
- 5/5
Love that the Breakfast and Tapas are included - saves so much time trying to figure out where to go
- 3/5
The hotel is a little rundown. They do tv not have an open restaurant/bar however they do have a full breakfast and heavy appetizers and cocktails in the evening. It is in walking distance of many things in Midtown, but our room was hot because the air conditioning was not ready to be turned on and they only have a two pipe system so they can either run heat or run air conditioning we had to open windows and it was still pretty hot in March. Our bathroom had a burnt out light that we have to be replaced. Never was we were there for nights in the bathrooms are very small even though we had a one bedroom suite. The staff, however, was very friendly courteous with the exception of the housekeeper coming in when we had a do not disturb sign on our door they entered anyway after seeing us leave the room. Overall decent price for the area and hotel.
- 4/5
Good quality breakfast onsite for free. Cabinets/shelves are scarce and not enough place for clothes.
- 5/5
Great - very comfortable, clean. Felt very welcome. All of the staff was amazing!
- 5/5
This was my third stay at Westhouse and it is still one of my favourite places to stay in NYC. Wonderful staff, comfy bed and pillow, decent breakfast. It's a pretty old buidling so sound proofing isn't the best but that's not unusual for New York and it didnt stop me sleeping.
- 5/5
Good size rooms and lovely staff
- 5/5
A new favorite hotel for us in NYC. The property is super convenient to Carnegie Hall and Broadway theaters. The room was large, well-appointed and comfortable. The included breakfast and evening beer, wine and snacks are wonderful. It was very cold in NYC when we were staying at the hotel and complimentary hot chocolate was provided in the lobby, which was a very nice touch. There is no bar or room service available inside the hotel and there is no evening turn down service, so, it is not classically a five-star property; however, the other extras more than make up for that. Nancy who works in the bar at the adjacent Park Central is great. Highly recommended hotel!!
- 3/5
While I love the lobby, breakfast buffet and evening offerings, the rooms are very small and my biggest complaint is the hotel doesn’t have central air. I was so hot all night long and couldn’t sleep. I wouldn’t stay here again for that reason. I couldn’t get comfortable in the room.
- 5/5
Lovely staff , very spacious room, clean, enjoyed the bar and tapas
- 4/5
Great find. Enjoyed the stay. It became our home far from home. Very helpful staff. Especially helpful with my gluten free requirements
- 5/5
Great hotel. Beautiful lobby, helpful and friendly staff. Our room was spacious and had a very comfortable bed. The location was perfect for exploring all the sights in NYC!
- 3/5
It's all will be good for a 3-star hotel but not for a 5-star hotel at a price close to $1000/night.
- 5/5
Location and considerate staff were highlights.
- 3/5
When we checked in the hotel was small, the room is old and dirty. The mirror was stained, lamp shades stained and different color light bulb. The door doesnt closed properly. No ventilation in the bathroom, so humid inside bathroom. No area to open luggages. The worse part is the room is so hot. They said during winter no a/c only heater. Luckily the window can open a tiny bit, for an inch, at least we can breath a bit. The worst nights ever. The upside: - theres umbrella downstair for guests to use. - coffee in the lobby - complimentary breakfast - complimentary pre-dinner, serve beer and light food - free bottle water, you can ask the concierge downstairs.
- 1/5
Really disappointed with our stay. The room was terrible, dirty , damaged furniture. I recommended this hotel to my friends, I was so embarrassed. Want you charged for my room I considered it robbering, plus your site is false advertising. I would think about you post. Bathroom door all rusted. That’s not good . If I posted pictures I don’t think you would like it.

Service and complimentary breakfast / happy hour was excellent!

Love that during this season they serve hot apple cider in the lobby. I’ve stayed here multiple times. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Beautiful Hotel, friendly staff wonderful midtown location. Rooms need a brighter light and outlet for chargers. Bathroom was large but shower was very small. Nice bed and lineen but room temperature could not be controlled room was very hot. It was to late and we were all tired and did not bring it up to staff. Happy hour, staff attending it and balcony on 23 rd floor was worth the stay would recommend it!
- 5/5
The resort fee is an issue with reviewers on this site. Please take into consideration it includes a half decent breakfast. Beverages throughout the day and evening dinner with alcoholic beverages. The staff are generous with wine and Prosecco... a glass of wine in a restaurant anywhere in Manhattan costs at least $20 plus tax and tip! The math does add up. The resort fee covers access to what other hotels call executive lounge only it's better. Honestly worth the extra fee. My room was perfectly serviced every day and the accommodation staff were ver helpful at all times. Thank you to the staff whole team at the Westhouse. John and Lila
- 4/5
WestHouse was a perfect property to stay due to its proximity to Central Park south, Times Square, Broadway Theatres, and 5th Ave shopping. Nice beds with crisp linens and roomy floor plans. Large windows make the rooms brighter than most NYC hotel rooms we have frequented. Resort fee includes breakfast buffet and evening appetizers and drinks. Well worth the extra fee and food was varied and well prepared. Enjoyed eating on the terrace adjacent to the dining room since early-November sunshine was lovely. Front desk staff was welcoming and dining room staff was friendly, hospitable, and very hardworking. We will be returning to the WestHouse.
- 4/5
Westhouse NY IS not a 5bstars hotel. Lacks service and improve a commitment to make clients feel the difference
- 3/5
We really liked the location and the amenities offered. The shower pressure was great, it was clean, and the beds were comfortable. We were really disappointed however that the AC was not working. We complained at the desk and was told they would see to it. We came back after a show and was so hot. I called the desk again and was told the building was switched to heat and no AC would work. Was not offered a fan, or any alternative. It was the stay very uncomfortable and staff seemed to not care.
- 2/5
Good facility. Bad service and staff
- 2/5
We were initially put into the wrong room. Then the keys didn’t work to get into the room. The room was also quite dirty - the phones looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. Our AC also stopped working so the room was hot and dry. One of the elevators was down so wait times for elevators were quite long.
- 5/5
The service was excellent. 7 stars. The boutique hotel is classified as 5 stars but I think the rooms were run down and showing their age. The elevators were under renovation which made access slow. It’s biggest advantage is its access to Central Park and generally a great location close enough to all attractions and far enough from Times Sqaure
- 5/5
Staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly, great location for subways and easy waling to central park and times square. The breakfast and evening meals plus drinks is a great idea, yes you pay extra but worth it.
- 4/5
Property is in a great location & a 2 minute walk from Central Park. Common areas very cozy with comfortable furniture to sit and people watch. Rooms are well appointed, but bathrooms do not provide space or additional shelves for toiletries. Buffet breakfast had traditional fare and was delicious. Only downside was lack of functioning elevators Waits and lines were long for the one that worked especially during peak times of day & evening
- 5/5
The hotel is very well located. Close to Times Sq and Columbus Circle and a subway station literally a few steps from the door. The food in the Terrace is excellent. A good choice and well cooked and presented. Rooms are clean and comfortable and have been well maintained. What’s not to like ? All staff are very kind and helpful . My next stay is already booked This hotel is one of NYs best kept secrets .
- 4/5
The included breakfast and light fare dinner is fantastic although you pay dearly for it in the fees. My only issue was the room size. Quite small even for NYC. I’ve been to NYC at least a dozen times and this was by far the smallest room I’ve had. It is a small hotel but it is connected to Park central hotel which is much bigger with more amenities you can use. Overall it was a nice hotel but not worth the money. I would rate it 4.5 star at best. If this is a 5 star hotel then Ritz Carlton should be 6 star.
- 5/5
Fun
- 4/5
The staff were fantastic but this is not a 5 star property. At best, due to the old features (entry sign, doors with paint peeling, room with paint peeling, fixtures with residue) it’s a 3.5 star. The breakfast was worse than what you’d get at Hilton. Definitely better options in midtown for the similar price point. Don’t believe the high ratings and 5 star status. If you travel and usually enjoy nicer hotels, this won’t be a good fit.
- 1/5
It is actually a Central park hotel that has a lobby and everything. This is a spin-off on the south side, with side entrance. Our room was old and NOT renovated as advertised! Beds are Full, not Queen - this is why we picked this hotel! For the same rate I would get the room on top of Times Square in premium brand hotel! The only good thing was staff and breakfast; employees. Management and who ever is in charge is a crook!
- 5/5
The Staff was excellent. They answer all my questions and were very professional
- 1/5
Hotel was an ok value, but I am giving a terrible rating due to the hair, eyelash, and mold in the shower.
- 2/5
Very dubious and deceiving operating practice however. They will add a hefty smoking charge to your final bill. No one told me about this on check out. I only found out days later when a charge appeared on my credit card statement. I am a non-smoker. I did not smoke. Apparently I still triggered some mysterious smoke alarm during my stay. I contested this and after several calls and emails, they finally reversed the charges. Clearly a load of BS. Never coming back here. Pretty predatory, conniving and frankly shameless behaviour, probably to squeeze money out of unwary guests after they have left.
- 5/5
Nice service ... people smiling all the time and very helpful... very slow elevator
- 5/5
This hotel was wonderful! The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a comfortable stay and we really enjoyed the daily happy hour. The breakfast was also very good and the long hours were great.
- 5/5
Loved the staff
- 5/5
I was there with my daughter for 3.5 days and our stay was amazing! Everything was handled well. When we asked for something it was delivered. Complimentary bottled water and the included breakfast/later day meal was amazing. Clean and safe. Subway stop is just outside of the hotel and Central Park is just a few blocks away. I am so glad we chose this hotel and would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to NYC.
- 5/5
Our stay was absolutely amazing! The complimentary breakfast and happy hour was delicious. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The location was perfect walking distance from Times Square with so many options to choose from to eat drink and have a good time. I will definitely return to this hotel the next time I travel to Manhattan!
- 1/5
I was charged $50 per night more for resort fee. Highway robbery!!! The sink was cracked, the toilet was a splashing whenever it was flushed, the housekeeper tried to open the door by force, even though I had the sign that I should not be bothered.
- 5/5
Múltiple dining options (as expected) Hotel amenities were good (23rd floor terrace, gym) and staff very helpful and friendly
- 5/5
Amazing hotel, very friendly staff who really took care of you. Hotel is spotless and a fantastic location. We enjoyed the breakfast and the drinks and food on offer in the evening. I would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend to family and friends.

Excellent service. Great location. Wonderful breakfast and happy hour.
- 5/5
The beds are comfortable
- 3/5
Was very disappointed with the overly high extra fee for breakfast and happy hour. Was expecting quality food but had to go elsewhere. Breakfast included dry potatoes, runny wet eggs, and microwaveable bacon. Inedible. Very unappetizing ESPECIALLY for the price!! Outrageous. The bed was very comfortable and staff friendly. Unfortunately won’t be staying here again.

Nicely located! Subway station is right by the corner easy to get around town! Lovely breakfast and happy hour services!
- 5/5
Nice hotel near Central Park, restaurants, and Broadway. Service and the staff were excellent. Our room was quiet and comfortable.
- 3/5
Stayed with our 3yrs old daughter. There was a constant stench of cigarettes and weed coming into our room. Notified front desk multiple times and all they said was those guest would be fined. Continued for multiple nights.
- 5/5
Overall I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location is great. Walking distance to Central Park and times square. I love the breakfast in the morning. That definitely helped our day going .
- 5/5
Got upgraded to room with a terrace. 24th floor step out of breath taking skyline. Feel the city breathing from above Breakfast decent and complimentary. Gym has enough to get a decent workout.
- 5/5
Had a great experience at West House. Very friendly and helpful staff. The Terrace was great for breakfast and pre dinner snacks and cocktails, included in the resort fee. We had a lovely suite on the top floor with a view. Highly recommended.
- 4/5
The location was perfect for us
- 4/5
Nice hotel in great location, breakfast and service used to be way better
- 5/5
The breakfast inclusion and hours of indulgence at the end of the day, was excellent. So much variety in the food and beverages and plenty for everyone. The staff were all excellent. Located next to the subway, close walk to Central Park and far enough away from Times Square to be quiet but also easy enough to walk back from Broadway shows at night. I highly recommend Westhouse and would stay there again.
- 5/5
We stayed 4 nights at this location. Breakfast is included with your resort fee. The breakfast is amazing and extensive. (They even had almond and oat milk) Happy hour is from 5pm-8pm, they offer a wide range of foods. They also had wine available at this time, included. The front desk staff very friendly, it was raining last week and they offered umbrellas to return back. The location is very secure, I felt safe. On one of the days, they got us a cab, he road back in the cab that he got for us. That’s dedication. My husband and I are two seniors visiting for our daughter’s graduation. I will be returning to this hotel, thank you so much.

Is the first time I stay at this hotel and it ready surprise me, I travel to New York very often, love the area where it is located. All the facilities and the employees are more than what I expected, defintenly recommend and would love to stay there again.
- 4/5
But generally this is one of my favorites and I will stay there again.
- 5/5
Outstanding breakfast, wine and food in the evening. Friendly and very helpful staff throughout hotel. I was happy to find windows that actually opened! I'm so glad I discovered Westhouse and will be referring others to stay there. I will be back.

Hidden fees of 110USD PER NIGHT. 330 USD for a 3 night trip in fees not disclosed by Expedia or the hotel
- 3/5
Tried to get the Heater / AC to turn off at night so we could have some quiet. I asked 3 times to have the maintenance person but nothing was done. The unit rattled on for the 7 nights we were there.
- 5/5
The location is ideal, next to a subway station and being between Carnegie Hall and Broadway. The included breakfast and evening refreshment was of good quality, and reasonable range. The room was reasonably well furnished and of an adequate size. The bed was very comfortable. All in all, good for the price and it suited us well. We would happily stay here again.
- 2/5
Charged $50 per person daily fee that was not disclosed. Door key never worked. No restaurant.
- 3/5
Staff was very nice but the hotel did not have amenities like shower caps in the rooms. The hallways and doors seemed a bit run down and in need of maintenance. I was a little disappointed since this was a 5 star hotel.
- 5/5
Second time staying. Just as good as the first time. Excellent breakfast and evening drinks and snacks
- 5/5
Cool hotel. Great room. Very central
- 5/5
Breakfast and evening happy hour exceeded expectations.
- 5/5
The Westhouse is always a great place to stay and the $50 resort fee is worth it once you are not looking for memorable food! But does the job. Make sure to avail of the lounge during the day and for take away coffee to make the most from it.
