Reviews
The hotel's location is consistently praised, being close to many attractions and amenities. However, the rooms are often described as outdated, dirty, and small, with issues such as malfunctioning air conditioning and overflowing toilets. The staff are generally seen as friendly and helpful, but some guests have had negative experiences with unhelpful or rude staff members.

Excellent location and very large rooms for NYC. Stayed 4 nights. Clean and quiet room with nice beds. Tiny bathroom but good shower. No lobby really. I’ll stay here again.

We had a couple travel issues with flights and the overnight front desk staff was so, so helpful- cannot recommend enough!!

The location of the property was good. Everything else. They didn’t clean our room every night we were there, despite leaving the sign up each day. Smells like weed. Didn’t have a cot so they charged us for an extra bed. Wouldn’t recommend

The room was fine and the location right off fifth avenue was good. Had a delay of 45 minutes checking in past the check in time, otherwise staff good.

Location is great staff was friendly The room carpet was old and dirty. The curtains were stained. The sheets and towels were clean but bed and pillows were not comfortable . Not a bad experience but not great

Location is great. Staff really helpful. From my experience I didn’t have anything.

Great location, clean. Helpful staff No electric plug around bedside, very inconvenient

Stayed for 4 days is a pretty decent stay 15 minute walk to time square and mini food places around the hotel and only a 5 minute walk to Central Park.

This hotel use to be one of my favorite but the have removed the coffee machine and the massage chairs, so now it’s very bare bones. Honestly the place is getting tired. They told me 4 years ago that they were scheduled for a remodel and nothing has happened. In fact I think it has been sold and they are just draining the live out of what remains. On a positive note the hotel is still very quiet and that’s a good thing in New York. The rooms are a good size and it is not crazy busy, oh and the rates are on the lower side of high. So those kind of make up for the very tired decor. I don’t think I will stop staying here after 8 stays it almost feels like home.

I liked the location and the comfortable bed. …that there was no WiFi info in the room, and that I had to go downstairs to ask the front desk about it because my room phone wasn’t working (I later discovered that the weight of the plug kept falling out of the socket). Tbs young man at the front desk said he’d send an engineer up but never did (I arrived on Tues and by Sat still no engineer). The shower curtain rail had mold on it, as did one of the pipes leading from the toilet to the wall. The shower head faced straight down once the water turned on, which meant my body was literally up against the faucet and taps. Also the water pressure was lousy. The young man at the front desk thought the hotel was the Shorehan and spelled it thusly. I requested more hangers as there were only 4 when I arrived. A staff member eventually came with more but let himself into my room despite there being a “do not disturb” sign on it (I could’ve been naked when he entered). Brown-ish stains on the bathroom floor made me wonder if a murder had been committed. Bathroom door creaks when opened. This is NOT a 4-star hotel and it offends me that they call themselves such. It’s a 2-star at best.
- 3.5/5
The staff was very easy to work with and helpful. We were upgraded from a standard queen room to a Deluxe King, which meant more floor space, larger bed, and a higher floor (even though our 9th floor view was towards other buildings, and not out at the city lol. There is not much of a lobby space or common areas, but for the building it is in, it's not surprising.
- 4/5
The location was the most important thing for me. I was seeing a bunch of shows and I wanted to be walking distance without spending a lot. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was super quick and easy. The room was a bit outdated and the wear and tear was visible. I enjoyed my stay and the next time I come back I’ll consider this hotel again. Also there’s a Dunkin a few steps away from the hotel.
- 4/5
The room was very clean. It’s a small, boutique hotel, which fit us well. We stayed for two nights and it’s very close to many different sites and activities. The staff was wonderful. They took very good care of us. If you’re looking for something quaint and not a lot of noise around, this is a perfect option.

The shower with several spouts...that was quite nice. Also the bellman held my luggage all day which was quite helpful. I didn't eat breakfast...so don't know.
- 3/5
The location and staff It smells like mold. I have stayed here before and probably won’t go back again
- 3/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Shower was large and pressure great with amenities. Size of room good for NYC. Great location for the city. Room for chairs but only one. Carpets were stained both in room and in halls. Plugs were inconvenient and lighting inadequate and not where needed (eg desk). TV not on network.
- 2/5
The location was central Very disappointing experience from start to finish. When we arrived to drop off our bags, the front desk staff member looked miserable and was extremely blunt and rude when speaking to us. We felt unwelcome from the moment we walked in. The baggage staff member who took our bags was equally rude and lacked basic customer service skills. The “deluxe” room was also far below expectations. The carpets were visibly stained and the room felt dark, dated, and gloomy. Rather than feeling comfortable or luxurious, it felt more like a dungeon. For the price paid, we expected a much cleaner, brighter, and more inviting room. Overall, the poor service and disappointing room quality made for a very unpleasant stay. I would not choose to stay here again

We booked a deluxe double queen room. When we arrived they gave us our room and it was double size beds, not queen. We were sharing the room with my daughter and her husband. So they switched us to what they said was the only double queen room left. The bathroom was tiny (and smelled like bleach) and the headboard to our beds shared a wall with the elevator shaft so I heard banging all night. This was not a deluxe room, and if it was I'd hate to see a regular room. The roads were blocked on our check out day for a parade and no one game us a heads up. We almost couldn't get our car to go to the airport.

Location and personal are great. It would be great to have a coffeemaker in the room. Not the end of the world, but you need to go downstairs to have a cup of coffee

The room was not cleaned well it was dirty and they charged me $500 stating it was a smoking fee because I left the keys in the room and did not go to the desk to check out. The room next to us was smoking and pounding on the walls all night on the first night and smoking told housekeeping and the next day they had a sanitize sign on the room that it needed extra cleaning. But yet they are trying to charge me an up charge. Very bad service there do not recommend

i see why they had a low star review..we went there to celebrate our babys 1st birthday and my now fiancée surprised me with a proposal so it was a great weekend with what we had going on but not so much the hotel. when we first checked in and they gave us our room for one, I booked a penthouse suite with a terrace. They put us in a junior suite, and then proceeded to tell my fiancé that all of the pent houses were sold out, but I had all of the confirmation about us having a penthouse so we spent at least 45 minutes arguing with them about that because I refused to stay in the room that they gave us because it was not what I paid for and then we finally get up to the room that I paid for the hot tub in the bathroom was out of service, which was not told to me prior to booking or even when we were downstairs checking in I found out as we were in the room looking around the terrace was a lot smaller than what it looks. There were no chairs or anything set out on the balcony like said in the photos the room was not that clean. We actually found a few cockroaches laying on the floor so to me if they cleaned the room prior to us checking in there’s no way that there were a few dead cockroaches all over the floor after they cleaned up and the bedsheets had stains on them thank God I did bring my own sheets so I didn’t even bother making that request to have them change it out because I brought my own .. and then the emergency exit door was on our terrace and we had a lot of issues

Location was probably the only good thing about this hotel. Close to central park and public transport. Rooms were very small and super dated. The first room we were checked into was so small and dirty (rust in shower, hair on towels) that we had to ask to change our room. The second room was slightly bigger, but the windows couldnt be opened and the view from second floor was to the AC units and wall of the next door building, it was depressing and like a prison cell. There were no toiletries or any convenient things (no coffee, kettle, etc). What astonished me is that there was space for a mini-fridge but none there. I went down to lobby to ask for one as we were staying for 5 nights, and they said they can provide one but we had to pay extra for it! This is the first time in my life i heard of this. Also no water or ice on the floors of the hotel, only a small dispenser in lobby, which one evening at around 8pm didn't have any water, I asked the staff at front desk if they can refill and they said no, water is done for today...like seriously? The walls/door very thin, so we could hear everyone talking, yelling, elevators from our room. It was super annoying because every morning the housekeeping staff was talking super loudly and waking us up as they were cleaning the rooms nextdoor. It was so bad that my wife and I were looking at other hotels to stay at.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. I lost a bolt on my rollator so the wheel kept coming off. Maintenance came and fixed it for me. Jackie the room attendant was very friendly. The room does need a carpet cleaning but other than that it’s in a great location and not bad for a weekend stay.

Fantastic location close to Central Park. Property is older but not in bad shape. Staff was nice. Overall it was clean Most hotels have complimentary coffee either in the lobby or in the room, this place had neither. Elevators were really small maybe fit 4 people maximum.
- 3.5/5
Great location, with easy access to nearby attractions and services. The room was relatively spacious, and the bathroom was good and well-maintained. The breakfast staff was especially attentive, friendly, and welcoming, making each morning even more enjoyable. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay. When I made the reservation, I expected a continental breakfast. Instead, breakfast consisted of redeeming a limited selection of items from the hotel's convenience store. This should be communicated much more clearly during the booking process to avoid misleading expectations. I would also not recommend booking a taxi through the hotel staff. I was quoted a fare of USD 150 to JFK Airport, but upon arrival, the driver charged me USD 165, claiming that this was the rate agreed upon with the hotel. This situation made me feel misled and left a negative impression of an otherwise pleasant stay.

Excellent location extremely central. Air conditioning worked very well, room included a safe which was very helpful. No fridge unfortunately or kettle /coffee/ tea. Bed was very comfortable. Carpet and furniture need a good scrub or replacing. Staff were approachable and very helpful. Good value, just don’t take a woman there your trying to impress if she’s from a wealthy family, could result in disaster … 😂

Good location, though quite noisy. Restaurant/bar was closed by 9.30. I booked a king bed but got a queen.

The premises is shabby, our room was functional. The bed was super comfortable. We did not try the restaurant, but it looked very inviting.

Great location, comfortable bed. Our room faced the street and was very noisy. Good size room but could use some updating. But for price is a good stay except the noise.

The location is excellent The room is not clean. There are insects and spiders. The insects are coming out from cracks in the bathroom floor. Also, I couldn’t sleep well because of the air conditioner sounds that was so high and it felt like the ceiling was moving. Maybe because I was on the top floor but this shouldn’t be acceptable regardless. I think the above issues really need to be addressed urgently.

Only the location and the bathroom shower options even though its small. Rest of the facilities are below average. Its been almost a month now. They charge $100 from my room mate's card as a security deposit which they said that it will be refunded within 3 to 5 business days after check out. Its been almost 4 weeks and no refunds yet. The front desk insisted on cards and they dont accept cash as the security deposit. There's no direct contact email to reach the hotel. I contacted them through their general reservation emails and all they say that they cant do anything about it as I did the reservation through Booking.com and I should call the hotel general line and complain. That call always goes to a voice mail which they ask to leave ur number and message but they never call back. I have left about 4 to 5 voice messages, kept n hold for several times and wasted over $20 for these calls as I was calling from out of US. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Extremely poor service. Their so called automated security deposit refund system works like a scam.

The room wasn't like in the photo. The view of the “city” wasn't exactly like that, and the mattress was uncomfortable. I stayed at another hotel with a friend.

Nothing. This was a hostel pandering as a hotel. Disgusting, do not stay. I walked in and walked right out. Everything. I booked another hotel on Hotel Tonight because it felt unsafe here. There was a drug deal happening in front of the door as I arrived. I tried to get a partial refund as I never checked in, but they did not grant it.

The side of the property over the restaurant seems like it had a leak. But we were transferred to side we always stay at, Flora made it possible. And as usual we loved it! The staff is great. Mentioned above

Old hotel renovated on the cheap. Poor bedroom furniture (chair, desk, dresser were like those in a run-down college dorm), bed ok. A lot of street noise. The air conditioner in the bedroom did NOT work and in spite of multiple requests was not fixed during our three day stay. This is NOT even a three star hotel, which is a pity because the location is good.
- 2/5
The location was decent for where I needed to go during my trip but for next time I will much rather spend extra at a hyatt or marriott than stay here again.
- 1/5
The only amenities provided were soap and four hidden dixie cups. The room was cramped; the hotel refused my request for a one-half-hour late checkout, and charged me more than the quoted price for the hotel add-on, telling me to take it up with whoever I used to book my stay there.
- 4/5
Honestly I loved the bathroom! Spacious as well. I didn’t like that on top of what you pay, you have to put a deposit but it is what it is, extremely close to time square and eating spots. Would come again, 4/5!

Location was excellent. Staff was very friendly. Lobby was very clean and housekeeping was efficient. Ice water was provided in lobby. Easy pickup from front door for transportation. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance. Manager tried to help with a credit for lack of AC in our room. Told us to take up issue with Booking.com. Our AC in our room was broken. Maintenance tried to fix but could not. Fan was ordered but never came. Manager could not provide another room to accommodate our remaining stay We took a chance and slept with our door open to cool the room off at night.

Front desk staff particularly helpful when I couldn't connect with the wi-fi. Location perfectly central for shopping and transportation. Wished there was a refrigerator so I could keep cold foods. Also, wished there was a coffee maker or hot water dispenser since I like hot tea.

Incredible location. So close to all the best New York has to offer. Being in Midtown, you have so many sites right outside the door. Hotel was easy to find and is close to the MTA, Central Park, The MoMa, Rockefeller Center, and so much more! Everything was amazing, there weren’t any issues or things I didn’t like about the property. The hotel was very clean.

I really appreciated the cleanliness and room service even if I stepped out for just 20 minutes, the staff would quickly clean the room, replace towels, and leave everything fresh and organized. We also arrived late at night, and the check-in process was quick and efficient. Check-out was fast and convenient as well. There was no refrigerator in the room, which was a bit inconvenient. Also, the bathroom offered very little privacy, as the door was only partially sealed.

They “upgraded” me to one of the penthouse suites at no cost, but don’t think room was done. Bathroom had nice tile, bust rest of space looked like they were getting ready to put in more in the future. Hot tub in bathroom was not operational. Lobby and restaurant area looked very nice, but small.

I am absolutely disgusted by my recent stay at the Shoreham Hotel on 55th Street. This was the most horrible experience I have ever had at a New York hotel. The only thing that stopped me from moving out immediately was that every room in the surrounding area was $500 a night. Check-out was 11:00 AM, but I fled at 5:00 AM just to get out. Chris at the front desk was very nice at check-in, and the manager seemed willing to help and had the room vacuumed. However, they failed to change the bed skirt as I explicitly requested. As you can see from the photos, it was filthy, stained, and literally torn. The rest of the room was a nightmare: Disgusting Carpets: The carpets were in complete disarray, heavily stained, and absolutely filthy. Caked-in Dust: When I took a further look between the nightstand and the bed, it was just caked in a crazy amount of dust. It clearly hasn't been deep-cleaned in ages. Filthy Curtains: The curtains were absolutely disgusting and covered in stains. Hair Everywhere: There was hair from prior guests scattered throughout the room…on the sheets, the phone base, and the walls. The Shower: To top it all off, the shower tile had other people's hair stuck right to it. It is completely unacceptable for a hotel in midtown off 5th Avenue in Manhattan to let a room fall into this level of neglect. Save your money and your peace of mind…stay somewhere else.

Just heads up, No coffee machine and refrigerator in room, or you can pay 25$ a day for refrigerator, ridiculous, coffee shop downstairs opens 8am,parking near, 804 or more /day,bathroom, no space to put your staff, small steel sink, and barely room to put anything, we had 3rd floor on the street, room, super noisy, the window had tape around and not closing good, i hear every car going and alarms, try to get room on the other side, very good coffee shop on 6th street, Le Cafe Coffee , very good, 3min walk, opens 6AM

Location Not very clean
- 3/5
location, size of room, jets on shower, nice housekeeping staff carpet is dingy, the HVAC system is very loud and uncomfortable-constantly blowing cold air all night long = dry eyes and sore throats in morning; small elevators, the front desk didn't setup key correctly first night, so key kept dying on us-had to wait for tiny elevators to go all the way back down 2-3 days in a row to get the key working again. resulted in being late to a reservation and just exhausting to have to do that unexpectedly at end of night. also very echoey halls and loud doors that slam-so sense of privacy moderate/mornings are not peaceful-like your mom vacuuming and slamming against your door to wake you up in the morning
- 3/5
That is no breakfast. The small supermarket give a brown bag and throw inside a pastry banane granola bar and hot beverages. That is a pictures on the Expedia that show a restaurante but is not for the hitel. The furnishings show on thevsite is out of date. Expedia must check this property. Don’t be fooled if they send you to the pH floor… Penthouse… What a ! The first room they gave us to was loud due to an air-conditioning unit being on top of the roof, room was old, but tried to have an facelift with no luck and had ants crawling in the bathroom. Spider on bed pillow. Then they sent us to another room that was almost as bad. Stained sheets and bugs in the beds. The staff were very kind, but hotel is disgusting!! Don’t go.

The room design of the "deluxe" queen is odd to say the least. There is only one side table/surface, leaving nothing on the other side, not even an outlet. The bed is recessed/positioned under an overhang, making it somewhat problematic to sit up in bed. The bed creaks against the non-headboard with every move. The bed was not the worst, but I would not rate it as particularly comfortable. The window shade in the room does not block light. The second large window in the bathroom has no shade at all, though the glass is frosted for a modicum of privacy. There is a wall mirror inside the shower (um?). There is only one chair in the room leaving only the bed to sit on. The walls are partially padded with a velvet-like fabric, which is kind of gross and just makes me think dust mites everywhere. It's not modern and stylish--it's a dirt trap! The carpet was stained. They cheap out by not offering a coffee bar in the lobby. Instead, there is a"for pay" coffee service, which is rather $$ given the low quality of the coffee itself. Yes, it is convenient, but it's a rip off. On the plus side, and I would call it a major plus, is location and not outrageously expensive. The staff is friendly--no issues at all there. In sum, it tries to be modern and updated, but is on the verge of being grotty, but the location is great.

I have stayed at several hotels in NY that is why I was more looking for location thinking all will have some NY standards. This was not the case. The hotel is worn down and the things in the room are kind of broken, there were not enough outlets, there was one outlet inside a small closet that did not work, the carpet was so old, it was not nice even to step on it. Did not have a coffee maker or water. Although the location was really good I did not feel like staying by myself and went to a marriot almost at the same rate. NO coffee, water, no place to work and no GYM The hotel does not have the standard for being in NY, carpet so old and furniture worn down and not fixed. I did not even want to put my feet on the floor did not seemed cleaned even if it was. staff is friendly but there is only so much you can compensate. Not even a coffee maker in the room.

Loved the staff, they were friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs is nice, and you can’t beat the location near Central Park and Times Square. This place is worn. The pictures looked good, but my room didn’t present like the photos. Bathtub rusted, carpet worn. It was a good value for Manhattan, but for $200 more over my 3-day stay I could have had luxury high rise a few blocks away.

Great location in NYC and the room was very nice and comfortable. The hotel was clean overall and the staff was pleasant. The only downside was the lack of parking, which made things a little inconvenient but we already knew it. Other than that, it was a good stay and I’d consider staying again.
- 2.5/5
2 blocks from Central Park and an easy walk to Times Square and shows. We arrived at 2:30, front desk guy was strict can't check in until 3, we simply don't have a room available. We waited in the lobby for a half hour and start seeing a steady stream of folks heading to the elevator. Shift change had just happened and magically now there were many many rooms available in the span of 30 minutes! The bathroom was gross, the carpets were filthy, the room in general was... lacking. Lacking in care, panache, furniture. It was a miserable stay. The bill was $220 for one night, for a few dollars more- find a nice place. You won't regret it.

Great location.
- 3/5
Not many amenities. Staff are always nice and the rooms are clean. For the price there could be more included in the rooms.
- 0.5/5
Absolutely nothing. Well for one being charged $500 for a smoking fee that wasn’t even from our room. The AC BEING BROKEN. No fan in the bathroom. Can’t get help from front desk because they don’t know anything unless the manager is there.

Not enough water pressure in shower , terrible view
- 4/5
Staff was really nice and helpful. The hotel itself needs some updates, but it’s good for the price and they clean the rooms often.
- 3/5
Being on second floor almost at street level with the bright Shoreham sign was quite the experience. Glaring light through the meager shades, all night street noise and talking/yelling plus people standing outside smoking with it seeping through our badly fitted windows (luckily not weed). Had heat on 80 to battle draft through the windows to keep temperature nominal. Around midnight I was up moving about and the adjoining room door bursts open and two guys see me in my underwear and wife in PJs. They seem as surprised as us and gallantly retreat. I quickly ensure that door is dead bolted as well as the other adjoining door so our left flank is secured and double check our main door against frontal assault. Next day I use masking tape to seal the edges of the leaky windows and temps much better. No mini fridge, though there was a space for one. Staff was very good, our room location and condition was just sub par, others in our party were pleased with their accommodations.
- 5/5
Everything was great; Location, cleanliness, and staff except for one very rude receptionist lady. Her name was Tatyana. When I arrived to the hotel, it was just three hours before the check in time. Tatyana, the receptionist lady, was there. She was by far the worst staff I have ever met in my life in any hotel. First of all, she didn’t smile or greet me. Even when I said good afternoon, she didn’t respond. Her way was so rude. While she was dealing with me in a rude way, she was laughing with some of her colleagues. When I nicely asked her that I had just arrived from 12 hour flight and would be grateful if I can have an early check in, all what she said “check in is at 3:00”. I left the hotel and came one hour later to wait in the reception, I found another lady (can’t remember her name but she told me that she just started working in the hotel one month ago). I thought of trying my luck to check in. I was surprised by her kindness and professionalism. She allowed me to check in with even a better room than I reserved. She finished all check in procedures in just two minutes. I am so grateful to her and her positive and kind attitude. Tatyana, on the other hand, is really in the wrong business.
- 5/5
Very nice clean hotel! We stayed 2 nights and they allowed for a late noon check out at no additional cost. They even came and made the bed and cleaned the bathroom and gave us new towels!
- 3/5
It was okay! The rooms are very very small and a bit outdated but honestly it's in the middle of Manhattan and so close to subway entrances that you will spend most of your time exploring instead of the hotel. If u just need a bed that's clean and decent amenities, this is the go to. Everything is so near which makes it the perfect location
- 4/5
Great location and great value for money. I'd stay again. In fact I'm trying to book it again right now! It's great value for money because it isn't the "cutest", but it does what it says on the tin. If all you need is a comfy bed, pillows and an excellent shower, then this is a great choice. If you need more than that, then spend more elsewhere, you're not short of options.
- 5/5
I upgraded from the standard queen, and the room was clean, nice, and spacious with a very large bathroom. To say that it was a workstation was a bit of a stretch, but there was a narrow table, and it was possible to fit a small laptop. I'd stay there again.
- 5/5
Could use more outlets to plug in devices. Had to look under the side table for one. The only issue was the bathroom. The area in enclosed by a swing door that shuts with a magnet that was a bit temperamental. Also, the shower wouldn’t get above lukewarm any time we used it. Housekeeping on our second day took the washcloths but did not leave more which was annoying because there was only gel in the shower, no bath bar. Would stay again though.
- 5/5
Great location close to walk to Times Square.
- 1.5/5
Old, bathroom looks like a jail, window to the first floor basement
- 3/5
Convenient and lovely restaurant
- 4/5
Excellent staff and location. Room was quite dated.
- 2/5
Beds are uncomfortable, pillows were flat and old. No coffee until 7am.
- 5/5
My second stay at this hotel and I’ll definitely come back here. Clean, cozy and at the perfect location. Shout out to the professional and friendly staff.
- 3/5
Location is nice and close by to some awesome spots. Unfortunately our room was pretty dirty, tons of hair left in the shower, and the room was just super deteriorated from time. There are not many amenities, and they're a hotel that tacks on extra service fees to make their rooms seem cheaper. You can definitely get a nicer hotel for the sane price. However, that being said the staff was all very friendly and welcoming.
- 2.5/5
Location. It was so noisy and old.
- 3/5
The room was not cramped but looked really tired. Heavily stained carpet. Cupboard shelves damaged. Stayed in an ADA room (only available). When you shower most of the bathroom floor gets wet. Odd, stainless steel sink with sharp edges, like what you see in prison cells in the movies . No option to make coffee or tea in room. Since it is in Manhattan there is no shortage of dining and shopping options around. They charge a $50 a night "Destination fee". What is the destination, it is Manhattan? If you need to charge an extra $50, raise the room price instead of hiding in fees.
- 4/5
Comfortable hotel in good location
- 5/5
Location was wonderful.
- 4.5/5
No water in the room
- 4/5
A convenient location and very decent rate. I was there on business and really only needed a bed at night, and am not picky so didn’t mind it all being a bit threadbare. I’d pick someplace else if on vacation.
- 5/5
Great location, great staff
- 5/5
Perfectly located, quiet and very clean
- 3/5
Staff was polite, attentive and helpful. The hotel is a bit worn down, including the room I stayed in. I found it to be very noisy at night, though I realize part of that is because it’s located in Midtown, which is a noisy area. My recollection of the pictures I was shown when I booked the hotel are not truly indicative of the general run down condition of the hotel.
- 5/5
Excellent stay
- 5/5
This property exceeded our expectations for our first stay in NYC! Convenient location, just a few blocks away from times square, broadway, and the likes, and delivered on a solid place to be home base for a few days. Also very accessible through public transport and the staff was super friendly! Appreciated all the amenities such as already having fully stocked toiletries in the bathroom so I could pack a little lighter! 10/10 would stay here again :)
- 3/5
Nice location, sweet hotel. THE WATER WAS ONLY LUKE WARM, NOT HOT. NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR A DECENT SHOWER. Bed mattress felt old by the second night.
- 3/5
I have stayes at this property 5 times over the past 8 years and the location is fantastic, staff is always great BUT the rooms need a refresh! Maid staff does an excellent job but massive carpet stains, wall stains and just general "used" looks everywhere.
- 4/5
Great location, great price for the neighborhood, building has seen better days, seems to be cobbled together with 4 tiny elevators. Room was better than expected: clean, spacious, nice bath, missing items like coffee maker and refrigerator/minibar. I was there 1 night. Perfect.
- 5/5
Clean room. Excellent restaurant (White Olive) onsite. In-room clocks and coffee makers would be nice.
- 3.5/5
Location is great! For this value of money it’s very good hotel ! Very noisy during the night
- 3.5/5
Even though I received an upgrade, the room still felt a bit outdated and quite dark. It was also very cold, and the air con to make it warmer made the weirdest set of sounds. Luckily I didn't spend too much time in the room, so overall it was good, it was very nice to be in a larger space as well. I think the fact that the room was quite outdated and the air con system was a bit difficult to sleep through.
- 3.5/5
Location was amazing. Pricing reasonable. Gym outdated with ancient equipment. Cleanliness was ok but could’ve been better. Can’t charge anything from the makeshift store to your room.
- 3/5
Good value for your dolars
- 5/5
Great location and staff
- 2/5
You can’t beat the location of this property! Unfortunately, whomever owns this place does see the value in keeping the property clean and updated. The rooms are dark, dingy and beat to hell. The staff don’t seem too willing to help make your stay comfortable as one must buy a cup of coffee in the lobby for $5 each morning. There is also a $45 a night “resort” fee which is absolutely ridiculous since this is more like a hostel. Very disappointing and couldn’t wait to leave!
- 2.5/5
The central location is nice, but it is a very bare bones hotel. Don't expect fast wifi, lush views, or impeccable servcie The housekeeping services were inconsistent, somedays they didnt show up.
- 4/5
Location is very convenient. Metro stations were close so it was easy to ove arround. Few blocks from the central park. Many meal options close to the hotel, includding a on site restaurant. There was no coffee machine nor a mini-refrigerator in the bedroom. Nom ice machines also.
- 3/5
Bathroom was very small and uncomfortable. It was even difficult to get into the shower.
- 4/5
The hotel is quiet and cozy. So may thing
- 3/5
The staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and competent. The restaurant (White Olive) was also very good. The price was a bargain, and the location was great. I could not get the room cool enough to suit me. There was a heat wave during my visit. The bathroom smelled strongly of urine. I suspect it had soaked into the marble tiles, so the smell can't be cleaned out.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and great rates
- 4/5
The location and staff were excellent. It’s an older hotel in need of some renovations. The room was very small, but with NYC rooms at a premium, it was certainly adequate.
- 3/5
Air conditioner didn’t work. Window blind was broken so stayed open the whole time.
- 5/5
Very spacious two room suite You are not allow to stay more than 21 days as per their license
- 5/5
Great hotel location — truly no complaints. Perfect if you want to save money and avoid long travel times.
- 5/5
Great location. A bit noisy.
- 5/5
I chose this hotel for a last minute trip and couldn’t have been happier! The location is terrific. Close to everything without being loud or chaotic. Our room was clean and incredibly quiet which is a huge plus in NYC. Only wish they had a breakfast option but fortunately there are ample options close by. Highly recommend
- 3.5/5
great location and friendly staff small room with no amenities
- 5/5
Very nice location, price, and people. I would absolutely stay again. Excellent experience
- 3/5
Negatives - No good sitting area in lobby, no microwave, no fridge, no coffee machine, missing toiletries, couch old and saggin, bathroom small. Booked king suite w balcony on Expedia. Said no more of that room when arrived but Got ‘Upgrade’ but was really downgrade cuz went from king bed to small queen maybe even double so one had to sleep on cot. Air didn’t work in bedroom so hot in ther. Again try somewhere else
- 4/5
Very convenient and well priced. The property needs to be better cared for.
- 5/5
Nice quiet low key hotel. I stayed in the penthouse and it was very peaceful. Convenient to central park and Columbus circle.... better than I expected.. just be aware of $45/night "destination charge". Great hotel. I would stay there again.
- 4/5
The air conditioning wasn’t working so the room was unpleasantly warm. There were a few other minor maintenance concerns. There were a lot of concerning stains and marks on the walls and curtains, and not just in the room itself. It didn’t feel particularly clean, and was seriously lacking in the typical amenities one would get at most basic hotels. The massive mirror in the shower was…surprising. The room itself was a bit small but the bathroom was nicely spacious. It was a very convenient location in the city, and had multiple parking garages immediately nearby. It wasn’t the experience I expected, but it was fine. I wouldn’t stay here again, just because I’d want to try a different hotel and hope for a better experience.
- 3/5
The hotel was basic. The room was tiny and very old. The rug had stains on the floor where an iron was dropped and cigarette burns. The place was clean ish. Beware the $137 charge for incidentals that does NOT get returned. It is meant for the services such as luggage storage and whatnot. This is in addition to the cost of the hotel and was not included in the booking which basically decreases the cost artificially when booking. Pay attention. I would have booked another hotel had I known of that extra charge.
- 4/5
Had trouble sleeping, got woken up with the street noise. There is no safe in the room. The kiosk in the lobby is a rip off, way over priced.
- 4/5
Charged a “resort” like fee but cable wasn’t working and they didn’t know when it was going to be fixed. It was cold in rooms regardless of heater.
- 5/5
Wonderful easy stay. Great staff. Perfect for a solo traveler to explore the city.
- 5/5
Staff were friendly, room was wonderful and clean, and the ease of getting to and from attractions in NYC was second to none. Will definitely look to stay again!
- 4.5/5
Cleaned
- 4.5/5
that there was no cable service the night I stayed. An no could fix it.
- 5/5
Very nice staff and everything went very smooth! Would stay again
- 5/5
Was a wonderful stay. Would definitely stay again
- 4/5
No coffee in the room
- 4/5
This hotel is in a great location, with easy access to midtown and close to my office. The rooms did feel a bit worn down and dated, but overall a clean room and an easy stay.
- 3/5
Sink drained to the floor so you have to stand in a cold puddle. Shower pressure was very low on the 8th floor. Heat didn't seem to work very well. Otherwise, simple and clean (if a bit worn) and I would stay again if those items could be fixed.
- 5/5
Great location in the Midtown heart. Perfect size for holiday visit. Excellent $
- 4/5
Comfy rooms in a centrally located area. Minor updates would go a long way. For a good price it’s worth it.
- 5/5
Some trouble with the heating/a.c. But quickly remedied. Perfectly situated for public transportation and for our interests and excellent low cost places to eat. Staff extremely nice and attentive. We will return
- 4/5
This is a great location, and the staff are very efficient and friendly. As a single female traveler, I felt safe and watched over. The fitness center was also plenty adequate. As with many NYC properties, spaces are really small, including possibly the smallest elevators I've seen. But it worked well and they thankfully left the stairwell unlocked so I used the stairs most of the time. The condition of the rooms is worn and not 100% spic & span clean but for the price, it's a great hotel. Just a couple blocks from Central Park and right in between 5th and 6th in Midtown.
- 5/5
Very clean. Great reception and housekeeping staff. No in-room coffee station.
- 5/5
The location is superb. The room was excellent, it had a separate living room with a sofa bed. The room did not have coffee maker, mini refrigerator and microwave. If these were there, it would have been perfect. The Internet is not unlimited, the free tier covers 14400 minute per day, additional speed and more Internet will cost some fees.
- 5/5
No breakfast served. There's an unappealing kiosk in the lobby but it was uninviting in my opinion plus super expensive. There's a coffee shop across the street (right after Michael's) that doesn't look fancy from the outside but their food is excellent. I had breakfast there for $6 which included coffee, Greek yogurt and an amazing banana nut muffin that was out of this world. The name is Certé...super good coffee too.
- 2/5
Not great
- 4/5
Should have refrigerators in all room for no fee. But otherwise, a nice stay.
- 3/5
The location is privileged, although the physical condition of the hotel needs improvement. The staff was very friendly!
- 5/5
No complaints
- 4/5
Room was neat and clean but there were still dust on the drapes
- 4/5
Perfect location and great stay!
- 2/5
Really old...
- 5/5
The room was clean and quiet, The bed was very comfortable and my husband and I slept very well.
- 5/5
The Shoreman is in a great location, well kept, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. We have stayed here a few times and have no complaints.
- 4/5
WIFI service needs to improve -poor connectivity
- 3/5
Okay for 2-nights for the price and location, my husband arrived on an earlier flight and they gave him a hard time checking in because the reservation was under my name, he said the front desk person was not friendly, comfortable bed and bathroom, quiet, no good breakfast options very nearby
- 3/5
Yes
- 5/5
Location/price are hard to beat in Midtown
- 1/5
Lobby restaurant was cute, staff double booked me in a room that was already occupied.
- 3/5
The staff were great and we were highly satisfied with the excellent location of our hotel. However, our room was not cleaned/tidied the second night of our stay. We watched the cleaning staff enter the room that same morning so unsure what happened.
- 5/5
Great place
- 4/5
Location is unbeatable. Staff friendly.
- 5/5
Eeeee
- 4/5
Good location, however the property needs renewal.
- 5/5
Pretty clean not the greatest but definitely nowhere close to the worst. But what I will say though is out of everyone that attended the wedding I went to New York for I had the biggest room. The best room/area for the price without a doubt.
- 2/5
The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. The shower had no hot water. There was no coffeemaker in room, had to pay for coffee in lobby. Carpet was old and gross.
- 4/5
Friendly staff. Shower needs updating. Why no coffeemaker? Nice bed. WiFi time-limited, not free
- 5/5
Nice staff and good rooms
- 5/5
I had a great stay!
- 5/5
Excellent location, great rooms incredible rates
- 5/5
great location, clean room, friendly staff.
- 2/5
Location….stellar Room…..better than adequate by NY standards BUT……they hit us with a $40 a night fee when we checked in - claiming it was disclosed For the record, I checked every message they sent me…..it was never disclosed Pretending for a moment they had…..hitting people with a fee AFTER they’ve booked is in no way shape or form ethical Were it not for the exceptional staff….this would be a one star rating
- 5/5
Stay was good
- 3/5
Front desk staff was not friendly. Rather rude at check in. Room was fine (we weren’t in it much) but definitely needed a cleaning and updating. TV was difficult to use. Shampoo bottle was completely empty. They claim to offer early check in but if you ask they’re super rude and say no.
- 4/5
Staff was really great! Room was a bit worn. There were some odd spots on ceiling, but the beds were comfortable and clean.
- 4/5
Everything was good, except the fact the lady at the reception wasn't very welcoming.
- 1/5
Good service, but the hotel’s infrastructure leaves a lot to be desired. I went in February with my 4-year-old daughter, and it was very cold. The shower did not heat properly, and the room had no heater, so we were extremely cold. It was difficult even to take a shower and bathe a child. The only positive aspects were the service and the location. Unfortunately, I would not recommend it during the winter.
- 2/5
Carpet was not clean. Mirrors in the washroom and tub was filthy
- 4/5
The staff was very nice and the shower was amazing. Best pressure I have ever had
- 2/5
Hotel looks like a prison and you can’t sleep at night because the windows do not block out the noise
- 5/5
This was our second time staying at the Shoreham. The location is perfect and the rooms are great. Always clean and spacious.
- 2/5
The TV did not work my entire trip. The carpet in the room was never vacuumed, and there was clumps of hair in the bathroom upon arrival.
- 5/5
Stay was pleasant. Room was warm and clean. Hotel was perfectly located. Front desk was helpful.
- 4/5
The room was clean. There were some issues, however. The TV service was subpar. Not even all the networks, 5 channels, no movies AND the tv was not a smart one that supports streaming. Also, no refrigerator. Would have been nice to keep drinks cool.
- 1/5
Negelted room and horrible customer service lady at desk was extremely rude and not helpful in the slightest
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Room was cozy. Heater worked great to the point. We had to turn it off even in this cold weather. Front desk was super help with late check-in and out, baggage storage, and car service to the airport.
- 3/5
The room/hotel needs upgrade and renovations.
- 5/5
Everything was good.
- 3/5
The AC is very loud, in the room no refrigerator, no microwave, no coffee machine
- 4/5
Courteous staff
- 1/5
However, I was charged $91 at check-in. Why? The desk clerk told me this charge was because I booked with a third party (Orbitz). What nonsense. I use Orbitz frequently. Never had this happen. So this hotel decides it will tack on $91 for a "Destination fee". What a scam. Had I known this upon booking I would have booked elsewhere.
- 4/5
Room was clean. Convenient for work
- 5/5
Abel at the front desk was really kind, great Service. The room is small but cozy and really clean. We’ll stay here again for sure.
- 4/5
A bit dated but overall clean and decent
- 4/5
Overall, I enjoy this place. The room may not be the newest or most luxurious I've ever stayed in, but it isn't the smallest either. I must say, what I appreciate most is the tranquility of my room area and its proximity to nearly everything I needed or wanted to do - everything is within walking distance, and when it wasn't, it was easy to catch a cab or an Uber. Some of the amenities seemed outdated in my opinion, so I wish those could be improved a bit. Additionally, it's a suitable stay for someone traveling alone, but I doubt a couple would find it as comfortable as I did.
- 5/5
Awesome location
- 3/5
Renovate the rooms
- 2/5
Dirty. Stained. Can’t even get into your own room. Skip
- 2/5
In short,
- 4/5
Third year staying here for a conference. The water pressure in the shower is 5-star worthy which I greatly appreciate. Staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are drab and old, especially the carpets, but the place is clean, you pay for the location, which is incredible.
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful. The key encoder wasn't working but they walked us up and got us into the room.
- 4/5
Great location
- 4/5
Biggest issue was no hot water in the shower Sunday morning about 8:30. Waited until after 9 but it never got above lukewarm to cold.
- 4/5
Room was clean comfortable and spacious staff was nice and location was great ! However the carpets could use replacing kind of dingy the shower took a while to heat up the water and wifi did not work. Overall the location was a winner and the staff was responsive bed comfy and clean
- 1/5
I prepaid for a room for two nights - showed up and they had no room for me. Sold out nowhere to go. Not the way to run a business - spend your money elsewhere.

Booked in prepaid two nights. Showed up and they had given away my room. They were sold out and I had no where to go. They screwed up. No recompense offered. All they gave me were excuses about what I did wrong. Spend your money elsewhere.

Excellent hotel location, only a few walkable blocks to Central Park South and Rockefeller Center, lots of places to eat and shop nearby. The room is a good size and clean. Hotel front desk staff was not friendly nor attentive.
- 5/5
Times Square, 5th Avenue, the MOMA, were all close by and there were plenty of restaurants. It is very well located.
- 1/5
The property does not look anything like the pictures. The room was small and cold, when I asked for additional blankets, I was told there was none available. I was given a space heater that barely worked. The water for showering was cold as well. I feel like I was swindled. If I knew my stay would be this way, I would’ve booked someplace else.
- 4/5
Great location
- 1/5
Shoreham Management, you can do better and you can make this right. Room #319 occupant on December 31st, 2025.
- 3/5
The property and staff were great. We just had cold water all but one of the showers.
- 3/5
The room could use a good cleaning including the rugs. Heat did not work well. Location was good for tourist visits in December
- 4/5
Yes
- 3/5
Bathroom is very small. Decore is very old and looks it.. Bed sheets are clean and bed is comfortable enough.
- 4/5
Staff was excellent. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Air conditioning system non responsive and shower wouldn’t get hot to my liking. That’s my only minor issues with the room. Overall good and great location.
- 2/5
Room had no coffee or bathroom products. Water pressure was suboptimal and the shower pan was slippery. Elevators were dirty with only enough space for 2 people. Hall ways were cramped and felt like I couldn’t get to my room while other people were there. All of this and it still cost 300$ for one night. NYC is next level daylight robbery.
- 4/5
Staff was super nice. The rooms are a little run down; carpets look older and details look tired, needs a bit of updating.
- 5/5
Very clean
- 3/5
Room was very cold with one space heater.
- 4/5
perfectly adequate. No special, but fine.
- 1/5
Very dirty room. Mattress smells like urine. No soap in room. Hair on sheets. Power plugs don’t work.
- 5/5
It was quiet and cozy
- 2/5
Staff said cable was out and didn’t seem too concerned about it. No microwave, no refrigerator, no ice. Room was approximately 15 x 12 including bathroom. Will not recommend this hotel. Well over priced for the room.
- 3/5
This time the room wasn’t ready for early check-in, and even though I arrived early, housekeeping didn’t prepare it fast enough. The staff was very nice, but I usually stay at this hotel and the room wasn’t as clean or as nice as it has been in the past.
- 4/5
Clean and great location!
- 5/5
Friendly staff and good room
- 4/5
Room was decent and the bed comfortable. I slept well. Carpets are a bit old, but tolerable. It seems expensive for the quality, but relative to other properties in the area, I thought the price was fair, and the convenience and walkability to key tourist spots was amazing. Would choose to stay here again if i came back.
- 5/5
The room was clean. Close proximity to where we wanted to be - shops, dining, sites, etc.
- 5/5
The room was spotless, the staff was courteous and the location and value were exceptional.
- 5/5
Great small boutique hotel!Very nice staff!
- 5/5
Everyone working in the hotel was very nice, professional and very accommodating.I will definitely stay at this hotel again….
- 3/5
Very centric
- 3/5
The room condition was not that good.
- 5/5
Good hotel
- 5/5
Great location, clean, efficient and a great price.
- 2/5
Small rooms and small bathrooms ,very cram space for more than one person. Beds fill more like twin beds.
- 3/5
Notice that housekeeping would come clean the room but did not attempt to clean out the tub.
- 4/5
I was concerned on reading multiple negative reviews and pleasantly surprised by my experience here. Rate was very good, room was small but clean. Definitely good value for the experience. I would stay here again.
- 4/5
check in was easy location was amazing room was much larger than I thought, but it was dated and my room was dusty. There was stuff on the floor that didn’t look cleaned
- 3/5
Room was a little rough around the edges, but functional. Amazing location
- 3/5
Certainly doesn’t worth the money.
- 3/5
From the first moment we arrived, the Assistant Nanager who was at the front desk conveyed an air of superiority and treated us both in a condescending manner, his name is Hector. This is unfortunate as all the other staff were pleasant to deal with. Hector was blunt and abrupt leaving us avoiding contact with him wherever possible and if we needed assistance we waited for someone else to help us
- 5/5
Excellent!
- 3/5
Main hvac unit didnt work, they didnt notify that there was an ac hidden behind curtains. No usb outlets.
- 4/5
The front desk staff was rude. We weren't given a 2 bed room. We went back to check in and were told "Expedia used a 3rd party to book the room and the 2 bed wasn't included in the communication ". I said we need 2 beds and showed my paperwork. The staff said since we have it avaliable I will move you even with your attitude. I said I am not using an attitude and he said yes I was. I said someone from ny should know what attitude is. The interaction left a bad feeling about the whole stay.
- 3/5
The room was small and the carpet was dirty/gross. Staff seemed like they wanted to help but could not come thru for internet that was down. No fridge, no microwave nor coffee maker. (Not promised but would have been nice) bathroom door did not close completely. I also thought I had booked a two queen bed room per the pics and description. We got one bed.
- 5/5
The location can’t be beat. Room was quiet. Bed was comfy. Staff were all helpful. I’d definitely book there again.
- 4/5
We have stayed at the Shoreham before. It is in a great location in NYC. Small hotel. Fairly pricey. Beds were nice. Could use another chair in the rooms. Bathrooms are very small. Could use higher brand of toilet paper and Kleenex in bathroom. Definitely need coffee in the room. But this was saved by having a Dunkin Donuts about 20 yards up 55th Street. The bellman service doesn't do much of anything. But it is still ok because of the location and the restaurants nearby and the beds are nice. They advertise or at least show a roof top lounge, but that does not exist. The air conditioning works well. Hot water is pretty regular in shower, but not all the time. The elevators are small, but work quickly. The ice machine works. We would stay there again. It is ok and location great in NY, but it could be better.
- 5/5
This hotel was very clean. It was surprisingly quiet given it's location in Midtown. I never heard traffic or even a siren while in the room. The bed was comfortable and the room was well supplied. I would stay here again.
- 2/5
Overpriced for room quality. Smelly carpet, old & outdated. Comfortable bed & Bose radio we’re saving grace. Upgraded but underwhelmed.
- 4/5
The room was clean and spacious. Wonderful staff. Great location. The hotel is a little dated, needs an update.
- 4/5
Pretty clean room - good overall. Not the best but better than a lot!
- 5/5
My daughter stayed there and absolutely loved the hotel. Said it was in a great location and it was very clean and actually a large room for New York.
- 2/5
Bugs all over room, Front attendant tossed new room key to us bc too busy flirting with other staff member and we ended up in a room 1/4 what we paid for and on a floor with a broken elevator.
- 2/5
Rude service and small, weird room that was not as nice as advertised. Overpriced. No amenities in the room.
- 3/5
Hotel room needs to be updated
- 3/5
Room needed better cleaning
- 3/5
Great location.
- 5/5
The black residue on th ceiling where the air vented was a little concerning but the air seemed fine.
- 4/5
The room was a basic room. Need more convenient outlets. I didn’t appreciate the extra fees imposed
- 3/5
Room was very clean and so was the maid. The front desk staff could use some help learning how to smile. ;)
- 5/5
It’s my go to option when I go to NYC. Great location and Beaty good price! The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly, a lot of restaurants around, walking distance to Central Park.
- 4/5
The staff were friendly and helpful. The last time I stayed was about 20 years ago, and the one down side is while it was a very attractive hotel then, I don't think it has been updated since.
- 1/5
not great
- 1/5
They had no wifi and the staff was very unfriendly
- 4/5
Carpets in room need to be replaced, Rooms in general are dated, desk/dresser was broken, drawer did not close. Bed was super comfortable & the AC worked great
- 5/5
Excellent location. Near subway and Central Park.
- 1/5
Throughout my whole experience, it wasn’t the best. I was placed in a room where I was quite literally able to hear just about everything throughout the night dragging on too early morning. Causing me to get little to no sleep… I would love to speak to management and see if they are able to do anything for me as I really did. Love the place and would love to come back for the remainder of my trip.. thank you
- 4/5
Great price-value

- 5/5
It was a great location for all fine dining, and next to Central Park in this area all the amenities were so close below the location.
- 3/5
This hotel needs an overhaul. My room was dingy with dirty carpet and scuff marks on all walls. A depressing color scheme where a coat of paint would have made a difference. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom very good, although the fan in the bathroom didn’t work.
- 4/5
Convenient for an overnight trip.
- 5/5
Great hotel, conveniently located to metro and sites in Midtown Manhattan
- 5/5
What a terrific location! The Peninsula Hotel is just across the street (and at least 4X the cost) but this hotel has everything I need to enjoy a short getaway in the city. The price for a junior suite was very reasonable and it gave me a bedroom and sitting area and ample sized bathroom. One of my best stays in NYC ever!
- 4/5
Bed was very comfortable. WiFi connection was bad. Perfect location!
- 2/5
Staying at this property was not worth it for me overall. The location is very convenient and probably is the best quality of this hotel. You will be in walking distance from most desirable destinations for tourists. However, by choosing this stay, you will be sacrificing comfort and aesthetics. The deluxe room I stayed in was very different from the pictures and was quite disappointing. And, the overall aesthetic gave off the vibes of an office rather than a hotel. I ended up leaving early from the 3-night stay I had booked and wish I had gone with a different option in the first place as this was unfortunately just not it for me.
- 4/5
The reviews had me scared and so I called to check. They assured me they were working but when I explained my 92 year old mother was coming, they also put us on the 3rd floor just to reassure us, and threw in the refrigerator. Our bathroom was spotless and huge with a shower and a tub with jacuzzi. The white olive restaurant next door was one of the best meals we had in New York City, and we grabbed milk shakes at the 5guys next to that a few times. There is a Pret a Manger at the end of the block, and across the Ave of the Americas a Le Pain Quotidien. And a small deli that turns out to be a complete grocery store. going the other way a block and 1/2 you catch a M bus to the Met, the Neue Gallery (go to the cafe - so good the locals eat there!) and the Frick. Of course MoMa is a block from the hotel. I am recommending it to all my friends. Inexpensive (for NYC), Roomy (for NYC), Clean, great towels, pillows, and sheets. It was in the mid 90's when we were there, but the air conditioner worked a charm. Cons - Seating area furniture stained with ripped veneer. The smart TV wasn't. Pros - Location, room size, cleanliness and PRICE!!!
- 5/5
Loved the location it was in a perfect Midtown Manhattan location to walk to the subway, Rockefeller, Times Square, and Central Park!
- 5/5
Third time staying here. Definitely not luxurious but clean, quiet and great location.
- 4/5
Was overall good for price paid, limited facilities. Bathroom wasn't overly clean but staff were very polite and helpful. Bathroom door had no lock so had to stay wide open.
- 2/5
The hotel is wonderfully located. The room was small, dark, with a window on a shaft with fire stairs. The air conditioner made a lot of noise. There was no refrigerator in the room, which we needed for our medications. No cups or glasses were provided.
- 5/5
It was very clean and the staff was very friendly, and attentive! About a 20 minute walk to the city. We asked for extra towels and service was provided within 10 minutes of the request. Very impressed with this hotel!
- 4/5
Good
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
Great location, staff, and room cleanliness
- 5/5
The location is also fantastic—a short distance to many of our planned destinations. My only minor complaints were that some of the TV channels were frozen and the shower didn’t have a nonslip mat. Otherwise, everything else was perfect. I’d definitely recommend Shoreham and would stay again. Thank you to all the staff who made our trip, our first trip to NYC, perfect.
- 4/5
Location location
- 3/5
The room was very outdated. There was rust in the tub and hair on the bathroom floor. Very dusty around the beds
- 4/5
Clean large room, good AC. Only one very small elevator in service so sometimes a wait. Slept well and enjoyed my 4 night stay.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 3/5
very old and busy, front desk is not friendly
- 2/5
Expedia showed this as a 4 star property but it was 2 or 3, at best. When we arrived and saw the room, we knew immediately we wouldn't be staying and called Expedia to get a refund. They are usually very accurate about lodging, so this was a one off for me. I'm still waiting to see the refund in my points account .
- 3/5
It is what you get for the price. The front desk doesn't communicate well with room service and is also not friendly. I had my door opened with a "Don't disturb" sign, and only one elevator was working. I wouldn't go back.
- 2/5
The only thing we liked was the location that’s all.
- 1/5
On top of that, there was no “Do Not Disturb” sign, and the cleaning staff barged into my room early in the morning without knocking. This was incredibly intrusive and unacceptable. Overall, this hotel is in desperate need of renovation. I would not recommend staying here, especially considering the price point and I will never be staying there. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had in New York.
- 2/5
Lifts and corridors needed updating Room was tired and needs updating. Smoke detector in room was covered with aluminium foil Extremely noisy all night as room is above an air conditioning unit. Awful nights sleep The hotel however is in a great location. Staff were friendly.
- 3/5
Good place to sleep and centrally located. No breakfast, basic room with a bed, a desk, and a portable ac. Front desk was attentive and helpful.
- 3/5
Great location. Property needs some love (Bose sound system that only plays CD's, toilet seat wouldn't stay up (bad counter install), terrible analog TV, misleading 1st photo on website (no wine on the roof unless you rent the penthouse)). But, friendly staff, and you can't beat the location!
- 5/5
Great location if you want the heart of Manhattan right outside your door.
- 4/5
Staff was accommodating when i needed to extend check out, much appreciated. Friendly and professional.
- 3/5
Property needs a serious facelift.
- 2/5
This was quite literally the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. My room did not have AC and it’s summer. Calling the front desk doesn’t help because no one is there to answer. When I left for my event I notified them and they said they’d send someone to fix it. When I got back later that night of course no one is at the front desk. No surprise the AC still doesn’t work. Finally got a hold of someone and they said I can change rooms. They’re not apologetic whatsoever. The new room smelled of mildew and the bedroom still didn’t have working AC and the bed was so squeaky. At that point I just needed to get some sleep as I had my flight the next day…to which I didn’t sleep because the room was so hot. Very disappointing. The only good aspect was luggage check and the proximity to Central Park.
- 4/5
Air conditioning in our room was on the fritz—staff immediately was able to switch our room & all was well and very comfortable for remainder of our stay!
- 3/5
Elevators were very small, fits 4 people max without luggage and only one Elevator of the total two were actually working during our entire stay. Our key cards stopped working on our third day which was inconvenient due to the long wait times for the Elevator from the 9th floor. Room furnature was very dated and overly used.
- 2/5
The room we received is was horrible, mold, noisy, old bathroom. Afer 1 day we complain about this and we received a better room but same facilities. No internet during 7 days, noisy room... but this one was cleaner than the first. All that saves this hotel is the location. Central and close to all attractions.
- 5/5
Friendly obliging and helpful staff - comfortable beds and nice room and bathroom. Very central location - I would recommend it.
- 4/5
Everything was fine. Thanks.
- 3/5
Todos los días inconvenientes con la cerradura de la puerta principal
- 4/5
Extremely convenient. We were able to walk - sometimes long distances but still walkable - to almost everywhere. The room was not spacious but convenient for it purpose. Bed was comfortable and shower very spacious. Staff was east coast friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
Close to food restaurants and shopping. Also close to bus and subway Big negatives are no coffee/tea and refrigerator in rooms. Have to pay extra for refrigerator. However there is mini shop in lobby One of the 2 elevators wasn’t working when we were there so there was a lot of waiting during peak hours
- 3/5
Disappointed. Unwelcoming staff initially. Booked two rooms, one smelling of bleach. My colleague cleaned it herself. Cheap furniture that smelled unpleasant inside. Very convenient though. Handy friendly little shop in foyer.
- 5/5
The hotel was nice, the staff was very friendly and professional.
- 1/5
This place stunk. Don’t believe the photos. It is dingy, outdated, and shockingly bad for a midtown hotel with rooms at $400 per night.
- 2/5
The room was shabby. The carpeting was very old and worn. There were cooking odors that permeated the room and my clothing. I brought it to the attention of the desk and nothing was done about it. I was told we never received that complaint before. I’m sure they had but that’s how they tried to absolve themselves of responsibility. The bathroom was extremely tiny and made navigating difficult The toilet was under the sink. The price was exorbitant, considering the conditions. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.
- 1/5
rip off
- 1/5
Terrible. Cheap and run down. No soundproofing. No furniture. Hardly worth the massive premium price.
- 4/5
One side of bed (king size) did not have a side table or any access to light -- and no space next to it to put things. Also, no individual reading lights! Problematic for two people traveling together... Also, no fan in bathroom!
- 4/5
Excellent hotel for our one night stay for an event; simple, clean, with the basic necessities in great working order (a/c, ironing accessories, plenty of bathroom products etc). Our room had no view, but that didn’t matter—we slept well! Bed was comfortable, hotel quiet, and the blackout curtains did the trick. Close to subway, and so much entertainment. Discovered a gem of a restaurant too: Le Grande Boucherie! Coffee maker in the room would have been amazing, but there was a little kiosk in the lobby, that sold coffee (among many other things). The topper: the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and kind! And to be able to store our bags at the hotel before check-in and after check-out—life saver!
- 4/5
The hotel is definitely a bit outdated in terms of decor and amenities, but it was clean. What really makes it worth considering is the location — just a 10-minute walk to the Broadway theaters, which was perfect for catching a show without needing transportation. If you’re not too concerned about modern upgrades and just want a clean place to spend the night in a super convenient area, this is a solid option.
- 2/5
The property needs to be updated; the bathroom had a moldy smell to it and only one elevator was working. The noise from the street was awful. While the staff was very nice, it doesn't make up for the fact that this hotel was way overpriced. I paid, including taxes about $850.00 for 2 nights. I should have paid closer to $400.00. I will not go back.
- 4/5
Prime location needs a update
- 5/5
The room was neat and clean, the shower had AWESOME water pressure! No fridge, but we were not expecting one. Everything worked properly. Best thing about the property was the location! It was perfect--about 5 min walk from Central Park, 2 min walk from 5th Avenue, and 6 min walk from Carnegie Hall. Felt very safe. We used a parking app (Spothero) to find a great deal on overnight parking right next door to the hotel. The price was great, and the hotel totally delivered.
- 2/5
Elevator not working and room very tired and old
- 2/5
Very depreciated hotel and amenities
- 5/5
Conveniently located. Quiet.
- 4/5
Great location and the price reasonable for NYC.
- 3/5
Room was very small. Walls were thin . Only liked for location due to easy access to manhattan
- 2/5
Hotel should be 2 stars at most. Bathrooms were gross, beds were hard and pillows lumpy and the rooms were tiny. Calling this a 4 start hotel is grossly misadvertising the property
- 5/5
Conveniently located for Radio City and Central Park
- 3/5
Hotel is in a great location and very quiet considering it’s in the heart of midtown. The rooms are super tiny with hardly any room around the bed. No coffee maker or fridge. There isn’t even enough space to use a proper ironing board…and they should replace the old school thermostats as they are hard to regulate. Bathroom a decent size and the water pressure amazing. Room was clean and bedding great. Staff was super lovely. It all depends on what you are looking for. The room was just too tiny for me.
- 3/5
Very basic
- 5/5
Great place to stay to have easy access to surrounding areas
- 2/5
Unfortunately, this was not a good day. The rooms were horrible. They were gross and dirty, furniture missing from the lounging area. The bathrooms were so small. The sink smaller than when you would find in an airplane . There was no place to park to unload, although on your hotels.com site they offer parking they did not have parking to offer only one elevated worked and it was so small. I could barely get in it place was filthy dirty walking to my room will always smell like urine. There was no place to put your things in the room the air conditioner although we had it set at 63 it was probably 80° in the room because it wouldn’t work. They said they were gonna send somebody up to fix it never did. . The blinds in the room were all torn up and ripped and there were no curtains . Honestly could not wait to leave. The people that work at the counter, checking you in and out were very nice. There was much that they could do. Unfortunately, the pictures that they show online are not the shame completely deceiving .
- 3/5
The rooms were dirty. The window blinds did not close. Told front desk and was told will get it fixed. Never fixed it.
- 5/5
It was perfect for sleeping. Clean room, hot coffee and friendly service.
- 4/5
Great location for Manhattan and a very good room for the price. It was spacious but without any frills The bed linens were very nice. There was no coffee in the room. The staff was friendly. I would definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Excelente
- 5/5
The staff were all friendly, helpful, and professional. The place room was quiet and peaceful!
- 4/5
Great stay safe and convenient place.
- 5/5
This is a NY jewel in a terrific location, close to Fifth Ave shopping, MOMA, Radio City, Central Park and an easy walk to Broadway theatres as well as Carnegie Hall. My room was large, comfortable, recently remodeled, and very quiet.Front desk staff was very welcoming and helpful, as were the men who tend luggage, fetch cabs, etc. Price was very reasonable.
- 4/5
Friendly staff. Location is great. Walking distance from lots of food and coffee spots. Overall it was a comfortable stay.
- 5/5
Convenient location, friendly and helpful staff.
- 4/5
Bathtub need an update.
- 4/5
Very quiet
- 4/5
we will stay again
- 1/5
I arrived at 3pm or check in and stayed at the hotel for 3 hrs and fire alarm went off 3 times during that time period. No explanation from front desk/staff. Went to bed that evening and alarm went off again at 4:30am and 6am. Again no explanation but had to use my cell to call down to front desk to make sure all is ok b/c the room phone was out. Shared concerns with staff upon check out and no explanation and no efforts to compensate. Said I need to send complaint to expedia and they would contact them. Unacceptable conditions for 1 night stay.
- 1/5
The room was in desperate need of refurbishment and nothing like the online pictures. Overall the hotel is highly overpriced for what it is. Noisy, only 1 tiny lift working and everything very shabby.
- 4/5
Nice hotel. A little worn in spots, but good value for the buck. This is my 2nd visit to this hotel and would come back. Friendly, very helpful staff.
- 5/5
Location
- 2/5
Television picture was fuzzy. 2 bed suite extremely cramped and not conducive for watching tv or socializing. In extreme need of renovating.
- 5/5
The front desk staff were very friendly fly and we were able to get in our room at 1 pm.
- 3/5
All the staff were fantastic. Property looking a little tired in places. One of the lifts was out of order for the duration of mfitness centre al order.
- 3/5
I stay in NYC often, but this is my first time here. The hotel is very dated. There's only one lift working. The fire alarm was going off (all false alarms), including through the night. So sleep was veryuch disturbed. It would be unlikely I would stay again.
- 4/5
Shoreham was a great boutique hotel in a fantastic area. Walkable to Theater Dist, Grand Central, great shopping & restaurants. The rooms are very simple and we would have liked a small refrigerator in the room. No coffee in room (that’s okay, I hate Keurig machines…) but coffee downstairs for purchase as well as great coffee within walking distance. Staff is helpful & courteous.
