The Sherry Netherland

The Sherry Netherland is a gorgeous hotel in the best location….corner of 59th and 5th right across from Central Park. The staff are so friendly, helpful and professional. They felt like family. The rooms are large and well decorated. Beds are so comfy! They provide all coffee, water, newspapers that you’d like. Fresh flowers and chocolate are there when you check in. Great fitness room. Just the best!

Location was great. Scaffolding on the external facade. Apartment block really & restaurant staff not that friendly when we wanted to get a drink.

I liked everything about this hotel. Reception was most helpful, loved the special manned elevators and the room had everything I could possibly need - from kettle to an especially wide assortment of toiletries.

The staff were amazing. There is construction on the exterior of the building for the “inside” rooms so be aware. It did not affect me as it is only from 9:30 am until 5:00 pm and I was not in my room during this time. The beds are plush the amenities are very nice, much better than I have seen lately at most hotels. Attention to detail is definitely something they pride themselves in. I will definitely stay here again.

Located across the street from Central Park. Wonderful service and comfortable beds. Our room was very quiet and we did not hear any street or outside noise at all.

This is an Oh my God place!!! Excellent staff service and attendance, beautiful decorations, very clean, utilities were always available, location is awesome. The best of the best! Nothing was wrong.

This is a luxurious hotel with impeccable and friendly service. We enjoyed the history and the great location, and we hope to return some day. Our only personal 'negative' is that although it's popular for hotels to use goose down duvets, we always remove them as they are too warm for our taste. We encourage providing a light blanket as a choice. Thanks for a wonderful vacation, one that will live long in our memories.

I can only give 4 stars though, as the bed was hard as a rock and my wife barely slept.

A legendary hotel, outspent by the bigger brands in terms of publicity seeking prestige, but every bit the quality that has made this hotel so legendary.

We enjoyed the location, comfortable bed. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The property looks a bit tired for the exorbitant price to stay. Hotel seems old, cracking paint in corridors. At least one elevator always out for maintenance. Shower inside bath a bit cramped. Hotel could do with refurbishing. Very expensive for an old tired hotel however excellent location and staff.

High end luxury hotel! Did not disappoint!

Great location right at the corner of Central Park and Fith Avenue! The hotel team is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We felt like being at home and had a great time at The Sherry Netherland. Perfectly! Nothing.

Everything - the room was excellent, the staff brilliant, location could not be better for what we wanted. Having such an excellent venue for breakfast/drinks/food next door was also great. All this and such a comfortable bed, and lots of amenities in the room. Please note its Art Deco or thereabouts, so some may call it old style - we arrived on the Queen Mary 2 so it fitted in with the style perfectly. It is pricy but then you have to look at location and history - if its good enough for David Bowie ... !! Other than that and a problem with the safe it was a great stay.

Everything is excellent

This is a cool historical hotel and the location right across the street from the park is fantastic. It’s a bit past its prime but the lingering grandeur from its heyday is still present here and there. Our room was very small and “interior” - which means we had a close up of the brick exterior of the building next door as the only view from our window. I gave 4 stars as the room and condition of the hotel did not quite match the price but perhaps it’s location location location. We also ordered room service for dinner and breakfast from Ciprianis and it was excellent (chicken was really great). We wouldn’t mind staying here again but would definitely try an alternative in the same location if the price was better.

Fantastic hotel but the best was the front desk, a lady call Tammy, outstanding service make this special ocasión ( my wife birthday) a event to renember.

The location on 5th Av and 59th Street (Midtown, south east corner of Central Park) is just the best. The staff were exceptional and the room (1615) beautifully designed and quiet. We stayed 6 nights. The bed was really comfortable with quality linen and pillows. We also liked the Cipriani restaurant next door, which can be accessed through a door in the hotel lobby. We had breakfasts there and a lunch. Hotel guests get a 20% discount. It's a popular venue, so lunch/dinner reservations are recommended. Nothing - and I don't often say that!

I have stayed at the Sherry Netherland for many years, and it's always a delight. The mid-town location is perfect, the hotel is elegant and quiet, but there is lots of action in the bar.

Large rooms for New York, lobby lacking

No better location in New York, no better or more friendly and professional staff anywhere, no better value for a luxury property in midtown. This has become our favorite place to stay in the city.

Wonderful service

Excellent location within walking distance to museums, dining, Broadway, shopping and Central Park. We did use taxi service for convenience and speed. The hotel staff treated us excellent. Room service was timely and good. The room was very clean. Being very picky here, the chairs in the living area needed to be updated. The seat cushions had to be flipped often as the interior padding was crushed.The hotel is old yet maintained with most of the rooms used for residents.

Good basic hotel in great location...good sized rooms..

Everything about this stay was truly wonderful up until about 10:00 am the day of check-out. I left from 8:00 - 10:00 am to go tour the flower district and came back to a room literally filled with smoke. I called the front desk, they came immediately, and I left. I received no follow up or apology until I left a personal review note for the hotel. They then did apologize and offered a complimentary night if I were to return. I am afraid that I won't be returning, because it was a little scary. Hopefully they will get their furnace, or whatever, fixed before someone wakes in the middle of the night to a room filled with smoke. Great size and location.

All upscale with a taste of a bygone era which we found very special. Harry’s Cipriani was wonderful.

The hotel has the delightfulness and comfort of old world charm. The staff, charming elevator staff are pleasant and welcoming. Has a feeling of safety and elegance.

GOOD: Location, location, location. Staff was wonderful. Comfortable bed and living room in my suite. Kitchenette had all you would need if you actually wanted to do very minor cooking.

This is by far the best hotel I have ever visited in NYC. The level of service is like nothing I have ever experienced - the staff is amazing, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The entire hotel is beautiful, spotless and quiet. If you can stay here, do! You won't be disappointed.

This is an odd hotel. Maybe the best location in NYC. An old school place with doormen and elevator operators but little else. Maybe the worst bed I have slept in in a hotel. It felt like there was a hole in the middle. The room itself was old but attractive clean and quiet. I wanted to like this place but don’t see staying here again.

Period features make this a classic hotel. The brilliant staff were excellent in all regards. Room size was very large and had two en-suite facilities. House keeping were particularly excellent and accommodating to our needs. Would stay here again most definitely.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sherry Netherland Hotel. The location was perfect, the room and all other parts of the hotel were very beautiful, and the service and provisions were excellent.

The property was amazing and we loved being able to go to Harry Cipriani’s which is attached.

One of the few luxury hotels that have experienced staff and elevator operators. The in-house restaurant Harry's Cipriani has fine food and service.

We had a wonderful stay. All of the staff were so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The room was clean, freshly renovated, and the beds were very comfortable. Drinks from the mini bar were complimentary and flowers and chocolates were in the room when we arrived. It felt like we were staying in a doorman apartment building and not a hotel.

The hotel is a beautiful property. Because there are not a lot of guest rooms it feels very intimate. The staff - from the concierge to the elevator attendant - greet you by name.The concierge service was excellent. The hotel is in a perfect location. My only suggestion is that housekeeping, which does a lovely job, including turn down service, leave a little more shower gel and supply lotion. Otherwise, perfect.

There’s also a private club but you have to be a member to be invited in. Rooms are Ok, definitely trending towards old style. Good size for NY.

The Sherry Netherland was a dream. The service of the entire staff was impeccable. The hotel is very clean. The bed was comfy. It was the largest room I’ve ever had in NYC. In fact, you could put two average sized NYC hotel rooms inside one of these rooms. We were greeted by fresh flowers, a delicious tin of chocolates, and a hand written note. There was even an umbrella in the room. The Sherry Netherland is now my hotel of choice in NYC. The location is perfect for shopping. Central Park is literally across the street. I could go in and on. Overall, this hotel is exceptional.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It was amazingly clean, and the staff was great. They were so accommodating, and the free upgrade to a luxury suite turned our trip from a quick overnight in NYC to a memorable getaway. Great location, tons of things within walking distance. Was clean friendly, the only disappointment, was the restaurant in the morning, we were there towards the end of breakfast service and did not get the kind of service we are used to

Amazing Hotel. I was upgraded to a suite that was OUTRAGEOUS. I FELT LIKE A KING. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Literally the nicest hotel experience I have had ever.

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location across the street from Central Park and the Plaza Hotel. Easy access to subway stations, museums, Central Park, etc. Service was outstanding from the moment we walked in with early checkin and attention to detail by the cleaning/servicing of the room. The only thing we would ask for the next time is to request a higher floor with a view. We were on the 2nd floor and did have a view of the Apple Plaza next door but there was construction going on and it would have been amazing to look out over Central Park.

We were disappointed that only a king size bed was available for our family of 3: 2 adults and a teen. Thus we had to spend more money to rent a cot.
