However, some guests have noted that the hotel is in need of renovation, with outdated furniture and frayed curtains, as well as issues with air conditioning and heating. Additionally, some guests have reported poor attitudes from staff members and overpriced food and beverages.

Wonderful stay. I will definitely be staying again.

The classiest hotel in midtown — classier than The Plaza. If you are looking for old world New York, this is the place to stay. My wife and I stayed for one evening for our wedding anniversary and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast is exceptional, too. Spending money at The Pierre is well worth it. Enjoy New York the right way and stay at this property!

Ha sido un gran hotel y el personal sigue siendolo. La infraestructura es ajustada. Es la diferencia entre tradicional e historico. La relacion precio prestacion no es maravillosa! En el balance, linda experiencia.

Dated hotel. Staff was amazing. Price is based on its history, not its current condition.

The service was excellent. They have elevator operators, which was a little unusual. Very nice room and the maid service was great. They even fill your ice bucket every night while you're out. Be prepared for the prices though---shocking even by New York City standards.

As a Platinum-tier VIP Access member, I received a complimentary room upgrade at check-in, which provided a view of the park.

Amzing location, friendly staff
- 5/5
The rooms are a bit dated, bathrooms clean, but caulking not pristine. Staff really know what service is and are very friendly and helpful.

Great location and staff was very friendly. Pedro, the head of security was great to talk to.

What truly sets The Pierre apart is the staff — every single person was warm, caring, and genuinely attentive. The concierge team is exceptional and truly five-star, helping us with everything from restaurant bookings and attractions to cars and thoughtful local suggestions, all handled effortlessly and kindly. Front of house was equally outstanding, and even the lift attendants made every interaction feel personal and welcoming. The hotel itself is immaculate — elegant, pristine, and perfectly positioned right by Central Park, making the whole stay feel effortlessly luxurious. And a special touch: the early morning croissants at 6am for jet-lagged guests were such a thoughtful detail. A beautiful hotel made unforgettable by its people.

Location Housekeeping sucks. Empty vase in the room with no flowers, no turn down service until we complained, they forgot to give us bath robes until the last day!

The location of the Pierre was exceptional, and being greeted by the doorman daily made us feel like we were coming home. The staff was so polite and genuine and made us feel like it was our home away from home every day of our stay. The breakfast staff at La Perrine were wonderful and remembered our breakfast preferences as we entered. I would definitely stay there again. I could've stayed 30 days instead of five

There were a few small details that were less than ideal; not dealbreakers but not what I expected for a luxury hotel that cost us $1000/night: no coffee maker in the room - we had to call down and have them bring us one several electrical outlets didn't work no usb charging ports anywhere (it is an old hotel but still) we used the wine glasses from the cabinet and although housekeeping removed them the next day, they weren't replaced no room in the mini-frig for personal items took a very long time to get hot water out of the bathroom and shower faucets bathrobes were on the small side if you want to order in food from other establishments, the delivery person isn't allowed to bring it to your room; they have to leave it with concierge who then sends someone up to your room with it All in all, we wouldn't stay here again.

The club next door had a party and the music I could hear late into Friday night. I was so upset I left at 8pm on Saturday night and drove back home. They told me the room I was assigned was because my booking was through Expedia and told me I should book through the hotel directly, I did ask for a refund of the one night since I did not stay on Saturday night and had a bad nights sleep on Friday night with all the noise from the neighboring building and the heater. They told me to ask Expedia for a refund.

I brought my mother to NYC to celebrate her 87th birthday. She had stayed only once at The Pierre, on her wedding night, back in 1961. We recounted this to the agent who was checking us in to the hotel. She smiled warmly, and continued typing, casting the ocassional glance at the two country bumpkins in front of her. “Well. No ordinary room will do for a return like this to our hotel,” she announced. “I am upgrading you to a suite.” My mother and I looked at one another, mouths agape. The agent came from behind the counter, embraced my mother warmly and wished her the happiest of birthdays. You could have pushed us over with a feather. The room, the staff, the hotel and the weekend were an absolute dream vacation.

Great hotel
- 5/5
Thank you Taj hotel
- 5/5
The Pierre was an excellent hotel right opposite Central Park and close to shopping. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating our whole visit. We were celebrating my granddaughter's 5th birthday and they all helped make it extra special for her.

- 5/5
The Pierre provides a charming and comfortable stay with the most gracious and friendly staff we’ve ever encountered at a hotel. We were duly impressed by the elegant decor and our room’s view of Central Park. Our breakfast and dinner at Perrine ( the hotel’s restaurant) were delightfully relaxing and service was impeccable. We tried several items on the menu and were very pleased. The location in midtown Manhattan makes it a great base for exploring NYC. My only regrets are that we didn’t come sooner, or stay longer.

- 5/5
We experienced a huge flood on our first night but the staff handled it well and we had a wonderful vacation.I would highly recommend the Pierre .
- 2/5
Room service is exorbitant and fees are added without disclosing upfront which is a shame. Rooms are also dated and have smell. Time to renovate Taj. Your brand means something much better than what you are providing here.

Good kind people. There was a flooding issue in the middle of the night that necessitated swift re location to avoid the water spreading throughout the floor I was on. I was moved to a dry room. Everyone was courteous. I do wish I'd had the opportunity to experience the special property without that episode... And get a much needed uninterrupted night of rest.
- 5/5
The room was extremely comfortable in the hotel is gorgeous
- 5/5
Staff warm, & welcoming, bar, great breakfast, & restaurant lovely, don’t miss coffee at the bar in the morning & Friday with the Martinis piano singers.

No one appreciates this old-fashioned furniture anymore. Who knows when the upholstery was cleaned last
- 5/5
Amazing!
- 5/5
The room was spotless, missed Netflix and other streaming I'm the TV, the toilet water was continuously running, nevertheless it didn't bother with the bathroom door closed
- 5/5
Spotless. Amazing old school service
- 5/5
Gorgeous room and wonderful staff
- 2/5
The room was dirty with hair in the bathtub and dirt everywhere. I had to call and then after waiting quite a while go downstairs and talk to the manager twice. I went out and when I came back they still had yet to clean the room and they said the hotel was full and could not change my room. I am a long time (literally two decades plus) customer and my husband is immocomprimised and they could have cared less. They finally cleaned it and then neglected to it the next day again. I never heard from the manager and it was unsatisfactory. I will never stay there again and recommend strongly that others do not stay at the hotel. It is no longer five star and the management is also not high class. If you are a discerning traveler you will be unsatisfied at best.

Excellent hotel all around except for the reception services. There was no greeting. Desk person Keven’s who I had before was unsmiling and unhelpful. He gave inaccurate information (as verified later by another agent).

Everything here is 5 star. A truly luxurious experience.
- 5/5
Kind & accommodating staff, excellent room service, clean and spacious rooms.
- 1/5
Disappointed, rooms dimly lit, in need of major updates. Towels are crunchy, the bathroom was leaky. Our view from room 5535 and 5532, was awful. Utterly disappointed the one star is for the location. The executive suites are spacious but it has a depressing atmosphere.

My favorite NYC hotel!
- 5/5
Our room was only a few minutes late to be ready and they upgraded us to a beautiful suite for the MINOR inconvenience. Britney at the front desk was so thoughtful in upgrading my our experience. It was especially magical to be there at Christmas time. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back.

I checked in early but my room was. It ready even after 6 hours! The people who came after me were checked in while I was waiting and the hotel said it’s because I’m getting a park view room! The hotel is really nice, this is my second time there. It is clean very professional staff and the location is amazing.
- 5/5
Wonderfull locartion, beautiful, elegant ! Its New York across from Central Park, Fifth Avenue!
- 3/5
Great service, however, the rooms are old and tired. Still a great view of the park .

Nice staff; tired hotel
- 5/5
Breakfast was wonderful but definitely not free. Got an upgraded room since our room wasn't ready which was nice with a small kitchen and living room area. Staff exceptional. Great location to Central Park. Beds and pillows very comfortable.
- 5/5
Great staff and service! We had a wonderful stay!
- 5/5
The staff, the cleanliness, the coziness all were excellent!
- 3/5
I think for what you get and the fact that the hotel is tired the price is way too high.
- 4/5
Good location friendly staff book a upper room so you can get a view if you’re into views
- 3/5
Bed was not good. But rest was good
- 5/5
Room was clean. A bit outdated. But clean. Location is great, Hotel common areas are great. Housekeeping was selling us bottles of water in the evening, in the morning collecting still untouched bottles and reselling to us again in the next evening… it was a bit weird experience … but besides that part, i will definitely use this hotel again. Definitely recommending
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable, & great location!

Location is key and this hits the mark. Staff were beyond courteous from door staff to Perrine… i am glad we stayed here. My only complaint was the plumbing from toilet was noisy but the building is historic. I felt amenities were gorgeous. Free coffe/tea in am was also a great addition.
- 5/5
The staff was great and the location excellent for what we needed!

My husband and I absolutely love this hotel and return regularly. The staff are always so warm, accommodating, and genuinely helpful, which makes every stay feel special. The views from the hotel are stunning, and the surroundings feel very safe and welcoming. We also traveled with our service pups, and the thoughtful gesture of providing them with their own beds and bowls was incredibly sweet. It’s little touches like these that make us feel truly cared for and keep us coming back time and again.
- 5/5
Amazing staff. Warm, kind, pet friendly. Beautiful rooms, next to the Central Park.
- 5/5
One of the most beautiful places to stay in NYC. I had a park view on the 34th floor. Great service and many gifts.
- 3/5
The hotel is very dayed, the carpets are very old, so are the rooms. This is a great property that needs a major upgrade

- 5/5
This is a beautifully maintained, historic and grand property! Perfect upper eastside location walking just steps to Central Park, shops, and dining.
- 3/5
The hotel is very dated the carpets on the corridors are very stained. You cannot call this a five star hotel
- 5/5
The best guest care! I was so impressed, I will be back again at the end of the month! My new accommodations when I am in NY! No longer need to stay at my usual place around the corner! Hands down a great stay!
- 3/5
WARNING, the property WILL NOT HONOR EXPEDIA/HOTELS.COM status entitlements. They refused upgrade and late checkout even when the hotel was not very full. This was very disappointing. Otherwise, the hotel is very nice but VIP ACCESS here is a scam.
- 3/5
Some of the staff, notably Britney at the front desk, Willie from security, the doormen, the housekeepers, and the women staffing the elevators, were so lovely and kind. Genuinely wonderful. However, the rest of the front desk staff and concierge staff were disinterested at best and a little rude at worst. The room was lovely. Everything was clean. The stay was just okay, I was just expecting more.
- 4/5
Overall a good property to stay in.
- 5/5
Staff went out of their way to be courteous and polite
- 5/5
There are few iconic hotels in New York City that can make you feel more welcomed than the Pierre from the moment we checked into the moment we checked out a smile greeted us at every turn. The food was delicious. Our room was spectacular. We could not ask for a better place to stay
- 2/5
Ordered room service it was expensive and the food was horrible, I couldn't even eat it. The bed was amazing to sleep on.
- 5/5
It has become our home away from home! The staff is Amazing! Hotel is stunning
- 4/5
This is the Grand Dame of NYC hotels. The best location possible opposite Central Park close to everything. The Staff we friendly and super friendly. All that said. When we arrived at 3:30 for a 3:00 Check-in our room was not ready. We had ordered a pot of coffee for a 7:00 AM delivery and it never showed up, for the second day we asked they put a “coffee setup” in our room but that never came. It took 4 requests to get a fridge to our room. The room was spacious and clean and the closet was bigger than many NYC apartments, the bathroom was very nice and well appointed. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Great Stay
- 3/5
Stayed 5 nights. First the positive hotel is classic great location great neighborhood. Now things that keep me from giving great review. First I got to hotel at 2:10 PM and couldn’t check in before 3PM second on 3 of 5 nights a dog was barking 11PM and woke us up. At almost $700 a night I didn’t expect that. Finally the one day I needed the WiFi it wasn’t working. I called front desk and was I transferred to some help line where I was on hold and never got help.

Excellent experience…the beautiful fresh flowers in the room were completely unexpected and beautiful!
- 5/5
The Pierre is one of the best hotels in New York City! The location is beautiful and convenient. Their staff offers excellence in patron relations. The interior is beautiful and very clean. The rooms are spacious, clean, and offer nice decor. I heard men outside shouting and, within a few minutes, stopped. The stay was safe and quiet.
- 4/5
The property was walkable and convenient to shopping. The stay was a bit noisy as the fire department was testing the alarm for 2 days during our stay. We constantly had to ask for hand towels. The linen and room scent could have been fresher.
- 4/5
The Pierre is beautiful! There was an issue with applying the VIP discount to food and beverage, however, so it was awkward and disruptive addressing the matter at checkout. Other than that, our short stay was nice!

I was in New York for 48 hours. Got in very late. The hotel was clean. Staff was awesome and location very convenient. King room was spacious enough with everything you could need for a short stay.

I did get a better room upon sharing about my anniversary but did. It receive the Champagne or chocolate. The front staff told me that they forgot to bring to my room.

Always 5 Star in every way.

The hotel was beautiful and the service was amazing!

Beautiful hotel! Arrived early and room was ready. Valet the car with no problem. Room was a good size, as most NYC rooms are small. It was a great location and beautiful views of Central Park. Breakfast was great each morning. Would stay here the next time!
- 3/5
Old and dated; could use some upgrades. For the price it wasn't worth it.

Welcoming staff ! A free upgrade and a stunning suite. I did not want to leave with such a high level of service.

We really dislike our stay at The Pierre Hotel in New York. First of all, the hotel looks very tired and is in definite need of an upgrade. Second, the staff is not trained at all—they are unable to answer even the simplest questions. Additionally, there are staff members in every elevator who travel with you just to push the buttons. I don’t understand why, in this day and age, such a service is necessary instead of focusing on better-trained staff and a more well-rounded guest experience.

Liked cleanliness and friendly staff

They assumed the hotel would be better for the price; it didn't have in-room coffee service. The room wasn't in perfect condition. They added a third rollaway bed since there were only two beds and it was a reservation for three. The prices were very expensive, and the hotel has become a bit dated.

Hotel had a courtesy car hotel car that was never available. But other than not having a car, the hotel was modest and comfortable and quaint. Unfortunately hotel room didn’t have an espresso coffee machine. At least we had complimentary water bottles.
