Reviews
The Maritime Hotel is a unique, boutique hotel located in the heart of Chelsea, New York, with a charming nautical theme. Guests consistently praise the friendly and accommodating staff, clean rooms, and excellent location close to popular attractions such as the High Line and Chelsea Market. However, some guests have complained about issues with air conditioning, small bathrooms, and basic breakfast offerings.

We love the location—close to the 14th Avenue subway station. Lobby is unique and hosts a good breakfast that comes with the room. Decor is ship-themed, with large “portholes” for windows. The hotel is quiet and the beds are comfortable. Curiously, the bathroom light never turns off fully. The bathroom is large and the shower is huge! It has the best stocked mini bar of any hotel at which I have stayed. On your second visit, they bring you a complimentary bottle of wine around 4:00 PM. The staff is very helpful, friendly, and laid back. This is now our go-to hotel for our NYC getaways.

The Maritime is an excellent place to say, comfortable, quiet, perfect location!

My new goto hotel in nyc. Great friendly staff, cool rooms with lots of space for an nyc hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful design, great location...and the windows open!
- 5/5
Room and bathroom were spotless; staff, friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
We had a great stay at the maritime hotel. Great staff, and the room had great western views towards the Hudson (small sliver of a view of the river) and a few fantastic buildings by Heatherwick, BIG, Nouvel, and Gehry….all from our little porthole window. Breakfast was a little underwhelming, mainly cheap croissants, but the coffee was good enough. The west village is one of the best places to stay in the city and we would happily stay here again.
- 5/5
Excellent staff. Very nice breakfast.
- 5/5
The staff were outstanding—friendly, welcoming, and always eager to help with any request. There are a few areas where the hotel could improve. The breakfast options could be healthier and higher quality, and the lobby furniture appears quite dated and could use an update. We were also informed that the hotel bar was undergoing renovations, so drinks were not available during our stay. Although there is a bar located beneath the hotel, we experienced no noise disturbance from our second-floor room. Additionally, a security guard was stationed at the hotel entrance, which added an extra sense of safety. Overall, the hotel offers a fantastic location and exceptional service, but some updates to the furnishings and amenities would enhance the guest experience.
- 5/5
This is a lovely unique hotel in a fabulous location. It is quite reasonable for crazy NYC hotel prices. The continental breakfast was a nice surprise. A quick hop from the High-line walk and plenty of shopping and dining nearby.
- 5/5
I truly enjoyed my stay! The room was wonderful! The staff was attentive, friendly, and very accommodating!
- 5/5
I have stayed here several times and hope to continue doing so in the future.

Fantastic hotel - would love an operating bar in the lobby or anywhere in the hotel. service was fab and the rooms are lovely, cozy and relaxing
- 5/5
Fantastic room, great staff and beautiful space overall! No hot breakfast, and not really any gluten free options available, but so many lovely cafes nearby.

The hotel has an appearance and looks old
- 5/5
My favorite hotel in Manhattan. The rooms are incredibly clean and the staff are all exceptional. A returning customer for life!
- 5/5
Fun, cozy, surprisingly not too noisy even above the clubs. Maybe because no one can afford to go out in 2026.
- 3.5/5
Rooms have a lot of storage space which was appreciated, bathrooms are on the larger side for NY which is also great, and I liked that the in-room toiletries are of a good standard, and that they even provide toothpaste. I think the lobby is looking a bit tired, not very welcoming. It's a shame that the bar area that used to be the other side of the lobby is not there any more. Also the corridor in the basement that leads to the gym smells overpoweringly of garbage which made this area feel seedy and a little unsafe as a female user of the gym.

Great breakfast

Good location, nice stuff, rooms a bit old.

(1) AC stopped working 2nd to last night so both of our last nights were miserable. We had to call to get it fixed at 3am. Why does an engineer have to come to our room when they control it from somewhere else? Are you trying to save money? It was horrible roasting in the room that wouldn't go below 72 degrees!! (2) your front desk did not tell maids we had a late checkout. We paid $30 to sleep until we had to leave at 2pm because of the AC debacle that ruined our last day in the city. Then, the maid comes with an annoying tap with a key card at 12:30pm to ask why we are still in the room. We were sleeping (FINALLY) and then she woke us with the tapping and we couldn't get back to sleep. We paid $30 extra to be frustrated and tired. We have 2 rooms booked for Pride week and I will be canceling both due to these issues. Other than that, everyone was polite, friendly, food/atmosphere at Tao was good, rooms were perfectly laid out for the size, great bedding. Annoying to have to call for ice, but whatever. Unfortunatel, the two earlier issues are absolute deal breakers and we will cancel that e I ght thou sand bucks worth of business because of them. Bummer.

Great area

I love this hotel.. it’s my favorite in NYC actually. The complimentary breakfast is convenient, the location is ideal ( in Meatpacking) , and the people who work here have become like family.. Highly recommend!

Nice lobby, very clean rooms, comfortable bed, great water pressure. Lobby staff was very helpful and also opened the doors etc.

Beautiful boutique hotel. Lovely staff, clean rooms and an unbeatable location in the heart of Chelsea

I’ve stayed in NY many times and I cannot think of a place that’s a better value for service, cleanliness, location, etc. Highly recommend the Maritime - perfect for solo work travel which is what I was there for :)

Clean, comfortable, spacious (for NY) room, good breakfast, great location, reasonable price. Will definitely stay here again.

Staff was attentive, kind, and hospitable. Room was nice and quiet.

The hotel Rooftop Penthouse was amazing. Except for the ants in the living room, counter space and floor area. We killed one coach and had to wipe down the area to our liking.
- 5/5
Fantastic location, clean rooms!

Best location in NY. Close to the High Line, easy subway access, steps away from Chelsea Market. Rooms are quite small, but it is NY.

Clean and the staff are amazing. Shoutout to Michael who was extra kind and helpful!

Rooms at the Maritime are “shipshape”— compact and well thought out. Spectacular views from every porthole window. Generous amenities including an exceptional complimentary breakfast in an attractive, respectfully hush lobby. Complimentary New York Times to read by the lobby fireplace. Staff is genuinely friendly and responsive. Great location.
- 5/5
It’s a nice, quiet hotel in a good location.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Maritime. The comfortable, stylish, and welcoming vibe carried from the lobby to our penthouse room. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and fresh; the bed was comfy; and the bathroom and minibar were well-stocked. The location was great and a nice jumping off point for exploring lower Manhattan. It's a short walk to the Whitney Museum, Chelsea Market, the Little Island, and the High Line. Midtown is also accessible via a 20-30 minutes walk. Street noise at night, including honking cars and, weirdly, a bagpipe parade.

Truly excellent. An absolute jewel box in the city. The staff went above and beyond to make my son’s 9th birthday special. Thank you, and cannot wait to visit again!
- 3/5
This hotel is in a great location and I loved everything about it, except one thing—it’s located above a nightclub and you can hear loud bass music on Friday and Saturday nights from 11pm to 4am. When I asked the staff if this was normal, they said yes, if you are staying in a room lower than the 7th floor—we were on the 4th floor. The staff was nice about it and gave us a window covering to try to block out some of the sound, but it still kept me up. If you are a person that can sleep through that, then I would recommend this hotel. Pro tip, ask to stay in a room above the 7th floor. If, like me you can’t, I wouldn’t recommend it.
- 5/5
Bed was extremely comfortable, buffet breakfast was excellent, staff delightful and location was great. would recommend.
- 5/5
Always perfect, room super comfortable, great bathroom, friendly staff.

Superb
- 5/5
Start to finish everything was fantastic!
- 4/5
The staff were extemely nice, the hotel was pretty, accessible, and very clean. The free breakfast snacks were a plus. The only main concern was a lot of noise from the street, the window didnt really seal all the way and you could hear everything. They do provide ear plugs and at least you couldnt hear people next to you.
- 5/5
Special shout out to Michael at the door and the cleaning staff.
- 5/5
Everything about the stay was first rate. Strongly recommend
- 5/5
Super cozy and well designed space, rooms use the small space well and even have tubs and big opening windows. Beds were comfy and the lighting choices are good. Staff was super

Great
- 5/5
Loved everything about it! Location & customer service on point!
- 4/5
Staff was really nice. Breakfast was ok, could have some warm stuff like scrambled eggs, but it was ok to star the day. I would have been nice to have tea and coffe at lobby all day long, it’s nice when you get back at night and grab a tea to the room.
- 5/5
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was lovely and incredibly on theme. Amenities were luxurious and breakfast was delicious from a good buffet choice.
- 4.5/5
Such a fun space; the woodwork and “ship” feel of the hotel was really wonderful. The porthole windows overlooking city buildings was a nice surprise as was the quite impressive continental breakfast. It’s a great location, especially if you are a walker as it’s only a few blocks from the High Line, Little and Chelsea Market. It was great - no complaints

Really enjoyed my stay at the Maritime - a traditional, old school hotel. Lovely warm, welcoming atmosphere, and personality (unlike the usual chain hotels). Continental buffet included was a very nice surprise, fully stocked mini-bar in the room. Exceptionally clean bedroom and bathroom. Free wifi, room service from TAO available. Not negatives in any way but something to be aware of - the TV doesn't connect to streaming apps, and there is no bar/restaurant in the hotel (but there are obviously 000's on the doorstep!)
- 4/5
The lobby was beautiful and spacious and comfortable. The staff was so very nice and helpful. The room is very nice but small to medium sized. The bathroom is very small, and the major problem was that the air is a little space for the toilet, or sitting at the toilet, because the vanity counter and roaches over the toilet a little bit. Otherwise very good.

Great place. I’d stay here again.
- 3.5/5
Good location. Nice team Very simple room. Bad breakfast
- 5/5
We loved staying here! The lobby was creatively furnished and the breakfasts were excellent. Room was clean and comfortable. Our flight out that night was canceled, so we arranged to stay an extra night. Staff was delightful and helpful. Cost for Sunday night was 1/3 of the Saturday night cost! Location was within walking distance of a subway stop, and there were excellent eateries in the neighborhood, which felt safe. We will definitely stay there again, hopefully during a weeknight!
- 5/5
The cleanliness was very good etc...
- 5/5
Staff was amazing! The doorman provided exceptional service and helped us get a free parking spot super close to the hotel, on the street.
- 5/5
Perfect in its imperfections
- 5/5
Great place for a great value!
- 5/5
Fantastic!
- 5/5
The location of the hotel in the city and the comfort the Maritime Hotel offers cannot be beat. It is a thoughtfully designed and operated boutique hotel with a distinct architectural character and history.
- 5/5
A very nice hotel clean, great location good breakfast, friendly staff I will stay there again
- 5/5
Efficient clean
- 5/5
Good hotel. Nice rooms with a good shtick. Provided earplugs are nice. You’ll need them if you’re a light sleeper
- 5/5
Having Chelsea Market across the street is great! The Whitney and Highline are nearby!
- 5/5
But – – the lobby, although elegant, for some reason has chairs and couches that are extremely low to the ground. They’re uncomfortable to sit in – – or eat breakfast in – – and they’re difficult to get out of – – especially for those of us you are a bit older. The restaurant and bar off of the lobby were closed due to renovations. When they reopen, that will be a huge improvement.
- 5/5
Room was very clean, perfect size, nearby to so many things within a short walk. Loved how cozy and quiet it was.
- 5/5
What a wonderful hotel - the staff, amenities (they thought of every detail) even the continental breakfast was great - the lobby is warm and inviting …. The rooms are clean and well thought out ….. I only wish they had rooms with 2 beds but they accommodated our 2 adult sons by putting a single bed in the room along with the Queen bed. Get a high floor for a view of the Hudson River - the hood is great too and right across from Chelsea market with any kind of food you desire …
- 5/5
it's very close from chelsea market
- 5/5
Great price for the location …
- 5/5
It was great as always
- 5/5
Love everything about this hotel. I feel like I’m in my own home.
- 5/5
Room was good, but even up on the 10th floor you can hear the city below. Provided earplugs are a great amenity

Perfect hotel for a visit to the Racket Club. We

However, they MUST fix the toilet in the bathroom. The counter is 1-2 inches too low and you cannot keep the lower toilet seat raised. VERY inconvenient
- 5/5
We love the lobby, rooms, and location but the real standout has always been the staff. Much love to the kind people making our stays lovely!
- 5/5
Great stay experience. Comfortable beds. And the staff were great.
- 5/5
Excellent stay excellent location everyone that worked there was very cool extremely helpful and professional. The hotel itself was very comfortable thank you
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable room, great staff, nice breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Yes, and Yes.
- 5/5
Nice staff easy checkin and room was small but comfortable and set up nicely. We had a city view and it was quite quiet (Sunday night) from the 8th floor. Complimentary breakfast in am was full-eggs/fruit/ pastries. I would only change the sheets and pillows bit scratchy and stiff. Location perfect for Whitney, Chelsea Market, West Village.
- 4/5
The hotel is super cute. Vintage theme. The place, including our room, was clean. Staff were very nice and helpful. Included continental breakfast was a nice addition. It was within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. The only negative is that I could hear the music from the club next door from my second floor room. Other than that, great stay and I would do so again.
- 5/5
great service
- 5/5
Incredibly quiet for a NYC hotel, exceptionally clean, friendly staff, quick elevators, and the cutest design scheme. The lobby is so welcoming, and I wish I’d had more time to check out the awesome looking collection of books. The rooms are so cozy and comfortable. I look forward to staying here again!
- 5/5
Clean, nice staff, continental breakfast, nice size room
- 3/5
evening/ late night staff

check in was a terrible experience with the front desk person being rude and not helpful! my stay was redeamed the next day so i extended my stay.
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 4/5
The reason I didn't go to 5 stars is that the breakfast was so so. It's a spread on the side. I'm also not a fan of overhead showers. Also when someone in another room was having a shower (I think) then there is a tremendous noise coming from the bathroom.
- 5/5
The staff was wonderful
- 5/5
Great, clean hotel.
- 5/5
Great staff! Super room and decor.
- 5/5
The room was spacious for NYC. The bathroom could use more maintenance, but it was fine. Staff was friendly and very accommodating to my requests. My only suggestion is: The breakfast could've been better (think fresh cut fruit, better honey option (not heinz honey packets like they have at McDonalds) and fresher looking pastries. I just got some tea and an unusually large navel orange each day.
- 5/5
Great pillows!!!
- 5/5
Not noisy at night and super nice size room Being close to Chelsea market was a huge plus
- 5/5
The room was great, I had an amazing experience with the Maritime Hotel in Chelsea. The staff was really professional. I'm not use to going into Chelsea, but I had a good time.
- 5/5
Great staff. Great room. Amazing location. Coming back in a few months!
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay very much. Beautiful hotel, close to Subway. Chelsea Market across the street. We will be back!
- 5/5
The room was cute. The front desk lovely. The location great. The breakfast very nice.
- 5/5
This is such a lovely sanctuary with the absolute best staff. The folks that work here are so helpful and engaging, and I always love coming back to the Maritime. The lobby fireplace is such a sweet place to unwind at the end of a chilly day, and the location makes it easy to get to anywhere I need to be. Thank you, Maritime!
- 5/5
Spotless, compact, well-appointed rooms. Courteous staff. Bath robes. Complimentary NYTimes, buffet breakfast.
- 5/5
It's a good little hotel. Very quiet. Decent size rooms (for new york!) and the staff are friendly. It's a good location near the highline. Also unlike a lot of fancy-pants hotels, they have free coffee and decent continental breakfast in the lobby.
- 5/5
The staff was very welcoming!
- 5/5
lobby sets the tone for the hotel! Staff was very friendly, and Michael the doorman provided some cool spots to check out off the beaten path. The room is well appointed considering the typical sizes in NYC. Short walk to the train station. will definitely stay here when visiting the city again!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, very friendly staff. Wish they had a bar in house but so pleased with our stay!!
- 4/5
It's in a wonderful location, good staff, great sitting area, comfy rooms.
- 5/5
Over all from friendly staff to cleanness of our room and the location of the hotel. Everything was just perfect.
- 3/5
We did experience but didn’t bother asking some really uncomfortable allergy symptoms during our 2 week stay. We found a workaround but for the amount we paid and duration, this shouldn’t have been an issue at all- we have been all over the world- Singapore, Rome, Japan, Vegas, you name it. Whenever we tried to turn the heater up, beyond 70 degrees F, my guest and I would either have coughing fits or allergy like symptoms- congestion, runny nose, you name it. We figured by night 2, it wasn’t worth waking up sinuses activated, to just deal with the room being 70 degrees, it was a heck of a lot warmer than outside. We couldn’t tell if it was their dusty/old headboard or poor recycle air circulation/HVAC system. Again for the duration we stayed, our sheets were not changed once. Tidied, indeed, but changed, not once. Maybe it’s just me, but can hotels really not afford disposable shoe slips for their housekeeping staff so they’re not “cleaning” with sneakers that walked who knows where and who knows what? Breakfast was mediocre- limited selection and not replenished despite more than hour left with service. Had better from low tier hotel chains- this was disappointing.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Third time we’ve stayed at the Maritime. Love the vibe and location. Staff is excellent; bed and pillows are very comfortable.
- 5/5
Great location, clean room, the staff was amazing and nice amenities.
- 5/5
Entire staff was friendly and helpful. Room was nicely appointed, clean and good-sized for that area of nyc.
- 5/5
Everything was great from check-in to the time we left. They even send a bottle of champagne to our room for my birthday! Impressive service from start to finish
- 5/5
Great service and stay
- 5/5
Friendly, efficient staff. Comfortable lounge and rooms. Great toiletries and first rate continental breakfast. Clean and efficient rooms and gym.

The staff was amazing. Ricky at the front desk was super nice and he treated us like royalty. We will definitely come back.
- 5/5
Room was spotless and quiet . Staff very helpful and friendly A+
- 5/5
Clean room, amazing staff, very attentive
- 5/5
First time staying here and I was really quite pleased with the room and the staff. I got in a few hours early and Ashley checked me in early. She's a credit to your establishment; professional warm and friendly (as were all the staff). Bed was quite comfortable & I loved the shower. Worth noting on a busy holiday weekend the staff were in a great mood and with 4 elevators, I never had to wait longer than a few minutes. Thanks!
- 5/5
Uniqueness of the hotel decor and convenient location
- 5/5
Very nice hotels close to Chelsea market. The rooms are small but clean. Workers are helpful and friendly. Will definitely consider it again when we visit my favorite city in the world.
- 5/5
Loved the hotel but the mattresses need upgrading. Too old, too soft.
- 5/5
Excellent service, staff, etc
- 5/5
The staff was the sweetest ever and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in
- 5/5
Clean room, outstandingly friendly and helpful staff.

Clean, warm & welcoming front desk associates, perfect location!
- 5/5
Very comfortable, clean room, great bed, with lovely skin care products in the bathroom. The staff was very helpful, giving directions to take subways around New York. And there was a buffet breakfast with enough food to keep us going until lunch.
- 5/5
Everything about the maritime hotel was amazing! I am so thankful for the staff, room, amenities and location. I really can’t wait for my next visit to New York! I loved it
- 5/5
The Maritime is our favorite hotel in NYC! We stay there every year. The staff is so helpful and incredibly friendly. The hotel itself is beautiful and wonderfully accommodating to all of our needs. We love the location, just a block from Chelsea Market, close to the High Line, and surrounded by so many wonderful neighborhood restaurants. We cannot recommend it enough! Can’t wait to come back next year
- 4/5
Hotel and room were very clean and well equipped. Very extensive mini bar, but could have done with tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Continental breakfast was great
- 5/5
Great spot for a city visit . Heart of Chelsea . Quirky charming hotel . Good size rooms : breakfast is a nice surprise not found with most hotels of this size .
- 5/5
Very cool, old NY vibe
- 5/5
I had some stuff wrong with my room but the staff acted fast and they were considerate. I really like this hotel and they have great views and great water pressure.
- 5/5
yes
- 5/5
We had a lovely time at the Maritime Hotel. The location was relatively easy to get to from Penn Station. The rooms were well-appointment and large for New York standards. I also appreciated the friend front desk staff.
- 5/5
We loved our stay here. Great location, clean room and cool ambience. The breakfast was continental style with great hours
- 5/5
All was great
- 5/5
Staff was great.
- 5/5
The staff were very nice, friendly and courteous. Mostly a big shout out to Ricky, he is one of the very accommodating, super nice and friendly receptionist/front desk I've met. I went to the hotel at 10a.m to drop off my luggage so I can go see the Macy's parade. Ricky told me he has a room ready for me, he is amazing! One of the highlight of my NYC vacation was Ricky's awesomeness to me. Bill boy, housekeepers & security guys are very friendly too. My room view was so clean, stunning! beautiful interiors of the room and lobby. Perfect location! If you are looking for a spacious room, very convenient location, across Chelsea Market,I love walking so I just walked going to times square. DON'T WASTE TIME LOOKING FOR A HOTEL, MARITIME HOTEL IS THE BEST! I made the best decision to stay here than hotels in chaotic downtown area yikes! they also have free breakfast with great options. I am giving maritime hotel 10 stars! thank you again Ricky for excellent customer service, you rock! I will stay again in Maritime hotel next spring nyc trip and everytime I will go to NYC.
- 5/5
Hôtel is very clean and staff courteous. Lobby area is super cute. Right across from Chelsea market in a great location.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Incredibly clean and everything was comfortable. For a bustling area, we had no trouble with noise on the 2nd floor.
- 4/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Only thing missing was a bar or restaurant in the lobby.
- 5/5
The front desk staff was amazing. We had a great stay!
- 4/5
Great stay only issue was temp control in room too hot
- 5/5
Beautiful spaces, well maintained. Helpful, kind staff. Would recommend!
- 5/5
Maritime is also accommodating. I just left my second time visiting and will go back again. Every time they have allowed me to check in early (4-12 hours early!) for no extra free. It is always clean, the staff are so friendly, and it is overall so peaceful and classy inside. My favorite place to stay in NYC!

Loved the vintage vibe of the hotel, the lobby is super cozy and a nice place to chill. Loved the breakfast. The staff were all super friendly and seemed genuinely happy to welcome me. Loved the location, enjoyed walking around Chelsea. Loved that the mini bar was so well stocked with a variety.
- 5/5
Nice room
- 5/5
The room is the coolest, comfy bed, excellent included breakfast, friendly staff, so welcoming and super close to everything great.
- 5/5
The staff is amazing and polite!
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Great hotel in a great location. Room was well appointed and bed was comfortable. Great minibar. Staff was friendly and attentive. Continental breakfast was perfect and the lobby was cool and surprisingly cozy for its size. Not a crazy area of NYC. Some great sample sales nearby.
- 5/5
Lovely
- 5/5
great location
- 4/5
Had not stayed on the 2nd floor before. While quiet, I missed the view from the upper levels. Will make sure I let you know that next time.
- 5/5
The room was gorgeous with a comfortable bed and a roomy bathroom. We loved the stay and would go back!
- 4/5
Great stay! Perfect location with great amenities
- 5/5
This is becoming our go-to hotel when we visit our daughter in the Chelsea neighborhood. The staff is outstanding. We did not meet one employee who did not stand out with their friendliness and caring for our well being. We travelled from NH to celebrate my husband’s 75th Birthday. I am very glad we chose to spend it here because they helped create a wonderful memory for us both. THANK YOU
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel, convenient and so chic!
- 5/5
Staff ,room, location all great
- 5/5
Staff was excellent and room was very clean.
- 3/5
The breakfast was very limited and the coffee station was set up at one end of the tables, while the milk and half & half were on another table in the middle of the tiny breakfast line by the cereal. This forced people to shuffle by each other to make their coffee. Silly setup.
- 4/5
Good location, nice staff
- 5/5
The room was beautiful
- 5/5
Excellent and friendly staff
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff. And I enjoyed the maritime theme! Clean room, very neatly put together (like on a boat)
- 5/5
Quiet space, friendly staff.
- 4/5
Lots of street noise all night long my first night, but I changed rooms the next day, per manager, and the rest of my stay was comfortable.
- 5/5
We arrived early and spent time working in the lobby, which turned out to be one of our favorite spaces. It’s beautifully designed — serene lighting, thoughtful art and photography books, and an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. Our room, though compact as many city hotels are, was exceptionally well thought out. The bed was dressed in crisp cotton linens with perfectly fluffy pillows, and the clever bedside nooks made it easy to keep everything organized. The bathroom was another highlight: excellent water pressure and lovely C.O. Bigelow amenities in full-size bottles — a small but appreciated luxury. We stayed for five nights and found the service consistently warm and professional. The Maritime manages to blend style, comfort, and calm in a way that few city hotels achieve. We wouldn’t hesitate to return
- 4/5
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is in a good location - just a short distance from the Chelsea Market and Highline. I did not notice that it was loud like other reviewers. I will definitely consider staying here again.
- 5/5
My recent stay at the Maritime Hotel was largely positive, offering a convenient and charming base for my business meetings and city exploration. The hotel's prime location is its greatest strength, making it an excellent choice for those looking to be central to shopping, dining, and other attractions. The walkability of the area is fantastic, with the Meatpacking District just a brisk 10-minute walk away. My time outside the hotel was well-spent with the fantastic shopping and restaurant scene right on the doorstep. The hotel itself strikes a unique balance of quirkiness and thoughtful design. Its distinct nautical theme gives it a character that sets it apart from more traditional hotels. The staff were particularly noteworthy—always eager to help and incredibly courteous throughout my stay. While I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, there are a couple of points for constructive feedback. The most noticeable area for improvement is the lobby's seating. The cushions on the sofas and chairs appear dated and could benefit from an update to match the hotel's stylish, well-maintained aesthetic. Additionally, the room I was assigned was located directly across from the staff's supply area. This resulted in some noise from their routine coming through, which was a minor disruption. A room in a quieter area would have provided a more peaceful experience. Overall, the Maritime Hotel is a solid choice for a stay in
- 5/5
Breakfast menu could use more protein. Maybe change it up every other day. Everything else was great. Note regular rooms have Full size beds, not queens.
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful staff along with a comfortable, cool and cozy lobby environment made our stay amazing! Our room was neat, clean and the perfect temperature. Love the maritime motif and the bath/body products were high quality. Excellent value! Love the neighborhood too. We will be back!

Wonderful
- 5/5
Very nice sheets and pillows great staff cool vibe and great lication
- 5/5
Great place
- 4/5
Great staff and rooms. Breakfast is lacking with mostly cold food options.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed my time at the hotel, it was perfect
- 3/5
No in room dining or breakfast
- 4/5
yes it was
- 5/5
There was no but the breakfast was great.
- 5/5
Geeat
- 5/5
great
- 5/5
Only thing I didn’t like was the pillows as they are flatter than an ihop pancake
- 5/5
I love this hotel - quiet, comfortable and quaint. I love the port hole windows. Location is also wonderful.
- 5/5
We loved the design throughout the hotel, easy access to Chelsea Market and the HighLine, and the continental breakfast to get our day started.
- 5/5
Compared to other hotels, the front desk where you check in could use a glow-up but the staff definitely still shine. Location of this hotel is excellent for getting around, and walkable to so much.
- 5/5
Great location and friendly staff.
- 5/5
The Maritime is top-notch, with CO Bigelow amenities and Marvis toothpaste, the ability to order wine ahead to the room and a $30 late checkout until 2pm. There is a nightclub in the basement, so ask for a high floor. It’s across the street from Chelsea Market and the Highline. The interior design is chic with excellent finishings and materials. There’s a free breakfast. What more could you want?
- 5/5
Brilliant front of house guys…
- 3/5
The rooms are dark and dated, the hotel needs a refresh, the high traveler ratings didn’t meet our experience at all. The “fitness centre” machines (all 3 of them) are rusty, it’s not good. The front desk staff weren’t terribly friendly or helpful on a few occasions, better on others. The lobby is cool, people seem to linger there quite a bit, there’s no bar or coffee. We ended up checking out early and going to another hotel. The area is wonderful for a few days, we loved it! There’s quaint shops, the Chelsea Market, High Line, Hudson Yards; we’d definitely stay in Chelsea/West Village again, just not at The Maritime.
- 5/5
Convenient location!
- 5/5
Very nice hotel and location to go with Family during the week
- 5/5
We were very happy with the location, the staff and the hotel in general. Everyone at the hotel from the doormen to the desk and maintenance were friendly and helpful. The architecture was cool. The morning continental breakfast was very good too. Would return
- 5/5
Shower in room was the type without a door, which is not my favorite, but just a small gripe. Location could not be better, with access to A, C, E lines on the corner at a 2 minute walk. Food next door was superb.
- 4/5
Staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful. Right next to the High Line and many restaurants. WiFi wasn’t great but they said I should have mentioned something and they would have corrected the problem.
- 3/5
The club Tao is at the base of the building. My room was on the 3rd floor. Music and vibrations don't stop until 4:00 a.m. I don't think I'm a light sleeper. Even with earplugs and a pillow over my ears, I could still feel the vibrations. I spent two nights here and was busy running around, so I didn't stop to ask to change rooms after the first night and too lazy to do it at 2:30 a.m. the second night.
- 3/5
This hotel could use an updating, a couple of additional safety measures like keys needed to get into the hotel and to go up in the elevator. Otherwise, the staff is lovely and the location is excellent.
- 5/5
Very nice!
- 4/5
I like the service. I didn’t like their breakfast because there was no hot breakfast option. View from our room window was also blocked.
- 5/5
Staff was great. Fun hotel!
- 5/5
We had a great time at the Maritime Hotel. The staff are super nice, breakfast was decent, the room was good. Clean. I’m not wild about carpet in hotel rooms. That’s the only reason I didn’t give it 5 star there. Seemed. Lean though.
- 4/5
Clean room
- 4/5
Excellent location close to activities, parking, transportation and food
- 5/5
Great location also.
- 5/5
We loved our stay. The staff were super helpful any time we needed and the continental breakfast was lovely just to have a coffee or small bite before tackling New York.
- 5/5
The style of the hotel was very nice, good breakfast and the rooms were ver comfortable.
- 5/5
Overall a great, affordable hotel! Close to the water and West Village. Room size was big enough, beds comfortable, and everything clean and quiet. Friendly hotel personnel, and marine theme was cute with circle window in our room.
- 5/5
I was happily surprised with the Maritime Hotel. It was clean, very friendly staff and the location was perfect. There were doormen opening the door and assisting with my luggage. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. The included continental breakfast has a varied selection from cereal, yogurt, bagels, toast, muffins, danish, granola, fruits, juices, coffee & tea. The parking garage is directly across the street which is a huge plus!! There is a discount there as well if staying at the Maritime. This is my view from the 9th floor. I would definitely stay there again!!!
- 5/5
Great price and nice hotel
- 5/5
Comfy bed. L
- 5/5
Very helpful staff!
- 5/5
From the welcoming lobby to the comfy robes in the rooms, everything about this hotel is fab! Loved the nautical shirts that the front desk staff was wearing and the round windows in the hotel hallways and the hotel rooms were so much fun! The continental breakfast was great in the mornings - and I got to read the NY Times paper too! The location is perfect for those who want to try all of the village offerings and it is literally across the street from the Chelsea Market. Was a very short walk down to the water as well for a morning stroll. The people are so nice here and it is so clean! The water pressure in the shower was great too! Definitely coming back!
- 5/5
We loved this property.
- 5/5
This is my go to hotel whenever I’m in NYC. Always clean, friendly and low key. Coffee & croissants served in the lobby, mini bar has snacks, wine, beer & an adapter for foreign travelers. This hotel never misses a beat.
- 5/5
The service at this hotel was amazing! The staff are friendly and helpful. Hats off to the front team! The location is wonderful. Can't recommend this hotel enough!
- 5/5
Good experience.
- 5/5
Very nice property. Good location close to subway line. Would stay there again.
- 5/5
Incredibly clean and wonderful location. Staff was amazing. Love the continental breakfast as well. Love staying at the hotel.
- 5/5
The room was quiet, bed comfortable, and a very nice shower. The free Continental breakfast was sufficient. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and respectful. We would definitely rebook!
- 5/5
Great location. Clean room. Quiet. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
I was attracted to this hotel because of its nautical theme and its location, and I was delighted to discover it is charming inside. The lobby is impressive, and the free continental breakfast offers a generous selection of foods. The room was clean and comfortable, like a cabin on a cruise ship. The staff was friendly and helpful, answering our needs promptly. I would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
The staff were fantastic in every way. The room was clean and amply sized, the street facing view was fun-we looked out toward the piers and had great sunsets. The location was ideal for this work trip, it was close to our working location and perfect for after hours convenience to entertainment and dining. Just one drawback-- the beds need to be upgraded! The mattress was less than ideal.
- 4/5
Nice staff - Hotel needs an update.
- 5/5
Very clean, nice room
- 5/5
Perfect customer service at a great price. The hotel is located in a great neighborhood and close to so many wonderful restaurants. Overall my favorite place to stay in New York
- 5/5
All was great
- 5/5
Fun place in Chelsea near museums, great restaurants and very walkable area.
- 5/5
Great unique vibe. Felt like I was on a ship!
- 4/5
Staff and room were great. I'd would it again if I were to travel to the same place.
- 4/5
Good value hotel in a good location. Rooms and baths are small but typical for older properties in NYC. Staff was great.
- 5/5
Great location near the high line, Chelsea, Greenwich village and subway. Friendly staff, nice breakfast and comfortable room.
- 3/5
The concept of the hotel is great, I did feel like I was on a ship. I just wish the TV was a little modern
- 5/5
I love this place! Ideal location for walking to a lot of things, shopping, restaurants. Staff is like family! So nice and accommodating
- 1/5
The staff is very kind but the bed was so uncomfortable and noisy that I got no rest and checked out with a back injury.
- 5/5
Good value
- 5/5
Amazing property, will absolutely stay again
- 5/5
Very nice and interesting property. Great location and excellent interiors.
- 5/5
Always fantastic
- 5/5
Perfect hotel for staying in manhattan - excellent staff, comfortable rooms, nice decor, handy location
- 5/5
Love The Maritime. Location super convenient and staff friendly and helpful. Wish they had more of a full service breakfast option. Love a continental breakfast but sometimes you just want an omelet or fresh juice and not pastries.
- 4/5
Great location near Chelsea Market. Very friendly and helpful staff. The free continental breakfast includes yogurt, fruit, croissant, etc.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff and great location!
- 5/5
Excellent location. Super cool hotel. Great comfortable rooms. Super nice staff! My new fav in NYC.
- 5/5
The hotel staff was amazing a friendly. Location is amazing. Hotel was clean. We had a lovely stay and will return.
- 5/5
Loved!

Very nice rooms. Interesting design.
- 5/5
Staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Hotel and room were beautiful and functional. Location was perfect for us.
- 5/5
Super kind and gave me early check in
- 5/5
Really enjoyed my stay. Quiet room at the end of the hallway on 7th floor. Would stay again.
- 5/5
Adorable boutique hotel. Very friendly, flexible and accommodating staff. Was so nice to have breakfast included and very close to Chelsea’s market and subway entrance. What a lovely part of Chelsea to stay in
- 5/5
The location is good. Staff is friendly.
- 5/5
Great place
- 5/5
Staff was extremely helpful, pleasant. Walkable to transit. Space was lovely.
- 5/5
My fiancé and I had a great stay at the Maritime
- 5/5
Really a hidden gem. Everything about our room was lovely, and the breakfast was excellent and included with the room charge. The ONLY suggestion would be a better mattress!
- 5/5
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Complimentary breakfast was a plus. The room was quiet because we were on the 6th floor, if noise is a concern, best to ask for higher floors. Otherwise, it is a great location for clubbing at night. We will be back!
- 5/5
A good place to stay ! Next time I will still choose this hotel.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay - the hotel is gorgeous and staff are so friendly. The location is amazing and we had a fabulous time here.
- 5/5
Fabulous stay, great staff
- 5/5
Large room, clean and quiet. Small but decent gym.
- 5/5
I absolutely loved this hotel. It’s a walk away from Chelsea Market and the subway. Highly recommended!
- 4/5
Everything went very well. Thank you.
- 5/5
First time hotel since back in early 2000's. The hotel is still in great condition, the rooms are nicely appointed and water pressure in the city. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only disappointment is they no longer have the outdoor bar area. This was always such a nice place to have a coffee or drink. I hope it returns.
- 4/5
Lame that the bar closed. Check in time wasn't flexible, which wasn't ideal.
- 5/5
Accessible, friendly staff, clean suite
- 5/5
Great location for Chelsea/West Village, staff was exceptionally friendly and we loved the design details. Would absolutely stay again when we need to be in that part of Manhattan!
- 5/5
Great value!
- 5/5
The staff go out of their way to make your stay super pleasant. Feels like home!
- 5/5
The standard rooms are very small, I mean very small, but thoughtfully designed. They are fine for a solo stay, especially if you plan to be out and about most of the time. The front desk is great and the service reliable. The free breakfast is more than adequate. The gym is minimal. Chelsea Market us just across Ninth Avenue. What you lose in opulence (lobby, room size) you gain in character and location.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was a great location. The room was nice and quiet and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and the vibe of the lobby was special and unique giving library jazzy type feelings. Great atmosphere and overall hotel.
- 5/5
Breakfast was disappointing
- 5/5
Beautiful decor, very elegant, very clean and and lovely continental breakfast!
- 5/5
The Maritime is in a terrific location on the west side, just a few minutes from Chelsea Market, the Whitney Museum, the High Line, Little Island, and all the fun restaurants in the meatpacking district. And at the end of the block is a subway station that takes you everywhere. Could not have been better for us, as we went to a show on Broadway, spent a day in Brooklyn, and toured the newly reopened Frick Museum on the upper east side. A standard room is VERY small, reminding us of steerage on a ship! But the bathroom was stunning and the bed was cozy! Oddly, the public spaces have limited/no windows, again like a ship. But the added amenities were great, the staff was friendly and hugely helpful, and the breakfast was fine. Loved the coffee station and water station.
- 5/5
I was there for Pride weekend and had in fact booked the Moxy Chelsea and paid for the entire weekend. Only to find upon my arrival that they booked me instead to the Moxy downtown. Totally in the wrong area of the city. They would not move my reservation so I went down to the Moxy Downtown to see if we could transfer my reservation to the Chelsea location. They would not. I went up to the room and found it not only small - which they tell you is the reason the rooms have no closet. The condition of the room- cleanliness was ok but the room showed terrible signs of wear and tear the worst of which was the ceiling in the shower was falling in from apparently water damage from the floor above. I was so dissatisfied I left the hotel which was nowhere near where I NEEDED TO BE. In any case, I found the Meritine Hotel had vacancies for Sat and Sunday nights, I had heard of the hotel because of its architectural significance but knew nothing about the condition or service. Well, what a surprise- great service from the bellman, front office, housekeeping all first class. What's more, the hotel is appointed in a quirky dark motif - reminding me of its period-specific yet current tongue in cheek style of the Continental per John Wicks fame. The room was well-appointed, and had two closets a large chest of drawers, desk, side table and an occasional chair. Imagine my surprise when i found a fully stocked traditional mini bar! First Class.
- 5/5
Nice quiet hotel in Chelsea. Discreetly placed in town and run well
- 4/5
Pleasantly surprised with hotel and its amenities. I presume this is a hotel limited to the able - front steps up to lobby. Never saw elevator from street level.
- 3/5
I have stayed here before and loved it - but this time the hotel felt strangely empty and I really missed having the bar for a post-work unwind - is there maybe a redevelopment plan afoot?
- 5/5
Closest to actually being in a state room on a ship.
- 3/5
The room felt really stuffy to where the bedding and pillows felt slightly damp.
- 5/5
The staff were incredible. Proactive, friendly, attentive, and extraordinarily accommodating.
- 5/5
Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Very clean. Interesting nautical-themed decor.
- 5/5
This was the quietest hotel experience I have had in NYC. I couldn't hear the street from my room at night and the lobby was such a nice landing pad for us. The lobby staff was very helpful I didn't realize it came with a complimentary breakfast, which easily saved us $80. Just enough to get you out the door with coffee, pastries, yogurt and juices. My two teensy complaints are we didn't get early check-in and the mattress felt like an old, firm spring mattress. But I would definitely recommend this neighborhood and hotel!
