Guests generally enjoy their stay at the Lucerne Hotel, praising its convenient location and friendly staff. The hotel is described as clean and comfortable, with many dining options nearby. However, some guests mention issues with ventilation in the bathrooms and outdated rooms.

very well kept hotel, nice staff. great location
- 4/5
Great location. Walking to Central Park. Helpful and curious staff. In a world of crazy hotel prices in NYC, this one is priced reasonably. Building is a classic NY old building converted to hotel. Elevators are slow. Next door restaurant NiceMatin is a life saver for breakfast. Overall very good and pleasant start
- 5/5
Super clean room that was spacious and very comfortable! The beds and bedding were great. No noise from neighbors either
- 5/5
We love the Lucerne hotel. We stay here every time we’re in New York.! the staff was amazing. The location is amazing. We can’t wait to come back.
- 5/5
Great location and the breakfast is excellent. Definitely a nice place to call a second home. The staff are absolutely amazing.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms, perfect location on the UWS. The AC/temp control was a little off. A bit humid in the room.
- 3/5
I called about a shoe I left in the room twice now. And both times they said they would check and call me back. I still wait.
- 4/5
Need to finish those elevators. Porters great. Most of front desk staff professional and helpful. Need more Ice machines. Coke & snack machine ate my money $3! ;) Still for real. :D
- 4/5
hard to order from resturant. they need a second ice machine, wifi was poor bc of room location but room was clean and very nice.

Friendly and helpful staff! The hotel is in the perfect location.

A clean and comfortable hotel with an exceptionally pleasant and professional staff - everyone! - and immaculate housekeeping, which is hard to come by these days. The towels are in good condition, the bathroom was clean, no weird smells, and no extra furniture like unwanted side chairs cluttering up the space. I would say I am perhaps more discerning than some, and I was super happy with the cleanliness level and responsive staff. Housekeeping deserves recognition! I requested a blanket for the sofa area by answering a text asking if all was okay, and they brought it up without delay. I did not have to call to track it down. This is an organized place. My recommendation would be to turn on the a/c at the hotel breakfast before 8 a.m. because it is just too hot in the morning, very uncomfortable. The service there was also excellent. My other recommendation would be to leave complimentary water for guests. There was a bottle of Evian with a $6.75 price tag. That looked tacky and out of place. Plus who knows how long that bottle had been sitting there. If you're looking for a spot close to the Met it's about a mile walk through Central Park. We booked a king suite through Orbitz. Shuttle (car) service to LGA was $75, cheaper than Uber. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Hope this is helpful.

Great location
- 4/5
It was clean and comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms were surprisingly large for Manhattan. The only thing that was missing was a refrigerator in the room. It would've been nice for keeping water cold or bringing dessert back after dinner.
- 4/5
However: it is time to update the flaws in the bathroom, caused by the mirror which needs to be shortened by 18" from the bottom. That improvement would make it possible to raise the sink (and the shelf attached to it) and replace the toilet, which is the main bone of contention. I'm on the short side, and I do not need to see below my waist every time I shave. The toilet seat is a quite a drop - It's like trying to potty train adults. Otherwise, would I recommend the Lucerne to anyone wholeheartedly because of the staff, location and convenience near public transportation.
- 4/5
Clean and located in a convenient location. Friendly staff and good communication.
- 5/5
The hotel was lovely and conveniently located. The attached restaurant was quite good.
- 4/5
Nice Matin is an excellent restaurant.
- 5/5
This was a wonderful hotel is in a quiet area, yet convenient for subway station restaurants and Central Park. They have a spacious room that was perfect for us with the kids. Hotel staff were delighful and we enjoyed our stay. There is no breakfast but plenty of local options nearby and also fridge and microwave in room with space to have breakfast if you prefer. Elevators are old and slow but otherwise everything was great.
- 5/5
The Lucerne is well maintained by reliable and courteous staff. My double room provided more than ample space for two travelers, more space than other NYC hotels. The restaurant staff was equally gracious. And the convenient location was quiet but also allowed for easy access to both Central Park and Riverfront Park.
- 5/5
This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Lucerne. We love the location for access to Central Park and Riverside Drive and so many restaurants and with two train station stations nearby it is easy to get anywhere. We were there for six nights and had a suite which made our stay easy and relaxed. The bed was comfortable, and the bedroom was quite quiet as the door to the hallway was off the living room. The staff is helpful, but unfortunately, the service elevator was not working the whole time we were there so we were sharing the guest elevators. Otherwise, it was a wonderful stay
- 5/5
Easy quick Check in. Spacious room, clean and comfortable. Great location!
- 3/5
Very average. Old.property. mediocre gym.
- 5/5
Excellent location. Convenient subway and bus connections to other parts of Manhattan. A variety of restaurants in the local area (although we ended up breakfasting and dining at Nice Matin, which is immediately next door). The mattress in our room was so comfortable that we slept better here than at home.
- 5/5
Love this hotel. Always great. A gem of the UWS!
- 5/5
Great moderately priced hotel option
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, great location. Would stay here again
- 5/5
The room was great with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker especially for a week visit. The staff was outstanding from front desk to the doormen.
- 5/5
The hotel is in the perfect location. It walking distance to Central Park, the Musesum of Natural History, great restaurants and more. There is a delcious restuarant right next door that is connected to the restaruant that serves a great breakfast - the hot chocolate is a favorite, lunch and dinner. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
The Lucerne hotel is very well-located and the hotel itself and the room were very nicely decorated as well as comfortable spacious, clean and well appointed. The staff was very helpful and the Nice Matin restaurant on the ground floor serves excellent food for breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner.

ok budget hotel
- 5/5
A very nice hotel, with character. Terrific location, the onsite restaurant, Nice Matin, is first rate. Next to a M79 bus stop. Will certainly try to go back.
- 1.5/5
The hotel is massively overpriced. There isn't even a fridge in the room. The hotel hasn't been rufurbished in a very long time. The place needs a major overhaul.
- 2.5/5
Location The room smelled like mildew and was horrible for our allergies. Our eyes were swollen and our sinuses were messed up every morning. I asked for an air purifier and they didn’t have that or a dehumidifier. They didn’t offer to change rooms.
- 5/5
Classic upper west side beaux arts hotel.
- 5/5
I was blown away at how large the room was! I expected New York small but my double double was extremely spacious. The service is excellent and the hotel feels elegant and refined. Public transportation is steps away and there are plenty of shops and restaurants in walking distance. I loved it.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel, great restaurant.
- 5/5
Nice, clean, & quiet. Staff extremely helpful. Attached Nice Matin restaurant an added plus.
- 5/5
I always stay at the Lucerne. It's a great location right on Amsterdam. The train station on Broadway is only a black way great location
- 5/5
Location was very convenient, 1 block to the subway. In house restaurant is very good, with outside dining.
- 3/5
There are only two elevators (which the staff also use when cleaning, etc.), so you often have to wait for 10-15 minutes for an elevator at busy times of day. My husband has Parkinson’s, but the room we were given had no handicap-accessible features. There was one grab bar in the bath, but it was so low that it was useless to him when he tried to take a shower. The toilet is also so low to the ground that it looks like a child’s toilet. When we checked in, the person at the front desk was unfriendly, unsmiling, and uncaring. The only bright spot was the doormen, who were lovely to us and consistently kind to my husband, helping him up and down the stairs from the hotel to the sidewalk. (That’s right — no ramp at all. The hotel is not ADA-compliant.)
- 5/5
We have stayed at the Lucerne for years when visiting NYC. We like the location on the west side. We enjoy the restaurant adjoining the hotel . The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. The chairs in the room need to be replaced . The front desk personnel could be more welcoming . No recognition that we have stayed there for over 30 years when on holiday . The bell men are very helpful .
- 4/5
Nothing super special about the hotel, but we had a nice stay. We were seeing a show at the Beacon Theater and the location of the hotel was super convenient. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
A little old world charm. Such a great location with anything you need so close. 1 block to a really good North/South Subway. 1 block the other direction to the Museum of Natural History and Central Park. This was our 2nd stay and we will stay again.

Nice, old, historic hotel. Very clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable. It’s in a nice area close to central park. The staff were attentive, especially the bellmen. I wasn’t impressed with the food in the hote restaurant. But the service was excellent.
- 4.5/5
I had a wonderful stay at The Lucerne Hotel. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the subway, making it very easy to get around New York City. It is also only a few blocks from Central Park, which was perfect for morning walks and enjoying the neighborhood. The room was comfortable, clean, and well maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The Upper West Side is a beautiful and convenient area with plenty of restaurants, cafés, and shops nearby.

Location, location and the location! Quite dated facilities in the room, I don’t like that paper cups were provided for tea/coffee and that the room doesn’t have refrigerator. AC is noisy and don’t recommend using it at night.

Nothing, have stayed there before & will stay again!
- 5/5
Only thing is I wish there was a mini fridge.
- 4/5
Staff is friendly, breakfast was incredible. The shower door in the room didn't close which caused a lot of water to be on the floor after showering, and the bathroom was cramped, but otherwise this is a clean hotel. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Staff was so nice and helpful. Location can’t be beat.
- 4.5/5
The initial room was unsatisfactory. I requested and received a change in my room that was immediately addressed. The staff was professional and assisted the room change to accommodate my daughter and I. Thank you! Dr. Dolores Cross There were only two elevators and they need to be upgraded. It is very slow and one was out of service for a full day.

The Lucerne is always my first choice for the UWS. Perfect for visiting Columbia University and exploring the neighborhoods. The junior sweet was spacious & comfortable and this boutique hotel is exceptional in style, service & comfort.
- 4.5/5
Perfect location! Staff was friendly and helpful. Not much to dislike. If I had to anything it would be that the AC was temperamental and hard to adjust to our personal liking. Also the beds were comfortable, but the mattress pads were a bit too “noisy”.

- 5/5
Nice hotel, close to park and subway stations. Elevator is very busy.
- 3/5
Follow up from front desk wasn’t consistent. Air conditioners didn’t stay at the desired temperature. I’m sure that’s a cost issue, but for the price of hotel not acceptable. Elevators constantly broken. Being on 7th floor was brutal when they were down. Valet and doormen were outstanding! All in all just an OK experience.
- 4/5
Our room was on the 6th floor. We faced east. Room was with 2 full beds. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, pillows were good. shower was great. AC worked great and cooled room well. Could open windows slightly if you desired. Curtains blocked most light to darken room well. Had a window in bathroom and now vent fan. Opening window didn't help with steam on window at all. Also, with window open the couple inches, if you don't close the shower curtain, people from across the street could see into bathroom if they wanted. Closing shower curtain doesn't allow for steam to be able to escape. Elevator door doesnt open completely and you bump into the 6 inches that sticks out thinking it is still opening more. From outside, it is flush. Therefore, door is larger than fixed side of elevator. Nothing they can do about it but i found it annoying.

Staff at desk nasty and rude. Elevators broken and my 80+ year old parents had to use 7 flights of stairs. The staff l, understanding the elevators were not their fault, they were rude and would you discuss a lower floor or future credit. Disappointing customer service.
- 3/5
The elevator was broken the entire trip. It did not make for a fun experience. The staff was very sweet.
- 4.5/5
location, staff, old fashioned charm, comfort broken elevators
- 2.5/5
I liked the property. I have stayed at the hotel before and had a great experience. Upon arrival the hotel has two elevators one of which was not working. That evening the second elevator quit working requiring all the guests to take the stairs to their rooms. We had to go six floors many had to go as high as 12 floors. The next day they had one elevator working intermittently and although they worked diligently to try and get the elevator’s working normally the issues continued from Thursday evening through Saturday.
- 5/5
Great location, nice room, good breakfast.

I mentioned the elevators not working made for a poor experience. The response was "I'm sorry to hear that". Not sure what the point of asking is if there's no intention to rectify the situation.
- 5/5
Good sized room for NYC. Great staff!
- 2/5
Location was amazing. We were specifically going to the America Museum of Natural History so this was ideal walking distance. I called and they said they would valet my truck. I get there and I can’t valet my truck. Had to park at a garage over on 83rd. Then the elevators both were not working. One completely out of service and the other being manually operated. I get there are emergencies but having to go down 8 flights of stairs with 2 young kids because after 5 8 minutes they can’t send the elevator up and it’s breakfast time, it wasn’t something I had expected to deal with.

The room was spacious, clean, well-serviced and great value. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only negative is that the hotel only has 2 elevators, one of which is taken out of service at times during the day for the hotel’s needs, and that causes back-up
- 5/5
Everybody is always very nice. The rooms are always clean. The bellman and their staff will get you anything you need
- 4/5
The elevators are very slow as it is an older building but thats a minor detail

Very clean, comfortable nice room. Unfortunately I was put next to the elevator, and music plays constantly through the night in the elevator lobby. If I hadn’t brought headphones with me I would have been kept up by it.
- 4/5
Had some difficulty with staff when I left the do not disturb sign on door so that the room would not be made up. Otherwise, I would highly recommend.
- 4/5
Room was nice, but small and old-fashioned as you would expect in an older hotel. Breakfast is associated with the restaurant attached to the hotel but I did not participate. I did have dinner at the restaurant and it was excellent.
- 5/5
Also a quick walk up the street to go to the Museum of Natural History/ Central Park. (Note:There's an umbrella in the room if you forget yours.) Breakfast place on site, but also a lot of great options nearby. Staff was wonderful with a quick check in. We weren't aware of the fact that the hotel had a partnership with a parking lot a couple of streets away (iPark on 143rd West and 83rd St). We parked at the garage across the street (pricey and tight) and were running late so we didn't move our car. Highly recommend- would stay there again!
- 5/5
Great location quiet and clean!
- 4/5
Nice people with wonderful care. Ut robin ac was intermittently lost and didn’t turn off properly
- 5/5
The Lucerne is our favorite quiet corner in NY. Comfortable, elegant, and discreet.
- 5/5
Quiet spot in a great neighborhood (morning coffee from Zabar's!). Take a quick walk to Central Park or use the nearby subway to access the whole city. Rooms are small, as are most in NYC, but very clean. Doormen and housekeeping staff are friendly and efficient. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the adjoining restaurant with a hotel discount.
- 5/5
The Lucerne was in a wonderful location, very walkable to food, subway, Natural History Museum and Central Park. The room was clean and comfortable, staff was friendly and there daily housekeeping. We would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was great other than issues at check in. Great location and love Nice Matin!
- 5/5
We had a great time staying at the Lucerne. Staff is very friendly, room was comfortable and spacious, hotel overall has an old historical feeling so a little old but yet, clean. We stayed in a room facing the streets so a little noise but it didn't bother us. Location is premium. Close to Central Park, great restaurants and the metro is just a block away. Would stay here again for sure. Thanks to the manager for allowing us to do early check-in as we flew red eye and were exhausted.
- 5/5
Great location! Friendly staff! Great time!

Dirty bathttub - possible bed bugs - friendly staff
- 3/5
The hotel is lovely and spotless, and the breakfast was delicious. The only hiccup was that the air was set to a really high temperature, which the front desk seemed to be in charge of.
- 5/5
Usually hotel rooms are stuffy, but we were very comfortable in our room and the AC worked very well. The staff was accommodating and friendly. We were very pleased
- 5/5
The location was convenient and near Central Park, the subway and numerous stores. It was a little more expensive than I hoped to spend but overall a great value for NY. Look forward to staying here again.
- 4/5
Overall a good experience. Rooms are a bit dated but still clean and comfortable. Lovely location.
- 4/5
Clean and well-maintained. Needs USB ports. Bathroom was cold because it had no heater. Television needs update to enable streaming services.
- 5/5
Our suite was perfect, spacious separate sitting room & impeccably clean. We had the breakfast package, Le Matin is a WONDERFUL restaurant. So glad we opted in for breakfast, we had a delicious and leisurely start to our day. The immediate neighborhood is very nice, lots of families and quiet. The Lucerne team was kind and professional, we arranged airport transportation thru the doorman. Couldn't have asked for a better stay and experience. We will definitely be returning.
- 4.5/5
Lack of space in bathroom to lay out makeup, hair supplies.
- 5/5
I love the Lucerne. Thank you for this wonderful stay.
- 5/5
Great location. Helpful staff especially doormen. I liked the room and bath with walk in shower but would advise hotel to use a coated non slip tile as they do in swim areas rather than slippery tiles and needed mats.
- 5/5
Great location and kind responsive staff Think walls, could hear neighbors and pipes
- 5/5
Great hotel in a great part of the upper west side with friendly staff and very spacious NYC rooms. Less than a block from the subway and less than two blocks from a safe greenway for exercising. No complaints from our family at all.
- 5/5
I’ve been staying at The Lucerne for over 25 years. The location is excellent. Two minute walk to the 1 train and. 10 minute walk to Central Park. The doormen are the most welcoming, kind, and friendly. Would not stay anywhere else.
- 4/5
No bar. Did not use laundry. People at desk for departure impolite . For staying one week at very high rate departure very unpleasant.
- 4/5
It's not a joy to be given plastic cups instead of glasses. But this was my second stay and I will probably return.
- 5/5

Love the location, spacious rooms, diverse clientele, Nice Matin right next store, close proximity to two subway lines…Have stayed there twice in the last two years and look forward to returning.
- 4/5
Nice convenient hotel on Upper West Side. Great for wandering in an interesting neighborhood and Central Park. Clean but smallish rooms. Friendly vibe. Looked at brick wall. (Other views must be better). Great restaurant on first floor. Good food. Kind staff in hotel.
- 5/5
The room was luxurious and felt like a room at an estate… so quiet and the staff was wonderful!
- 5/5
Lovely clean room and friendly and helpful staff. Good neighborhood for walking and not far to Lincoln Center.
- 5/5
Loved this hotel! It was an easy subway ride to the park and a lot of museums are in walking distance.
- 4/5
Great and convenient location with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Subway is only a block away. Friendly staff, clean room, and charming lobby in a pre-war building. However, the a/c was loud, and I had to put in earplugs while sleeping. The electrical outlets to charge phones are not conveniently located (not by bedside). Most important for me is that while there is a cafe machine in the room, there is no kettle to boil water for tea which I need every morning. Hope they could provide a kettle upon request in the future.

Location was perfect for our needs and we enjoyed the historic architecture.
- 5/5
Love the location! Like that ice and vending machine with diet available 24/7. Like that a good restaurant is available essentially on site. Like size of room. Like doorman that flag down cabs. The Lucerne is a good goto on the Upper West Side.
- 5/5
Wonderful!
- 5/5
Great location! The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again. Nothing
- 5/5

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Lucerne. We stayed in the King Suite for a week. Everything was updated and very comfortable and HUGE. The living room in the king suite came with a pull out couch, which was great as we had two little kids. There is a door separating the living room and bedroom, which we could not tell from the photos and is so helpful when traveling as a family. The kitchenette is small - just a microwave and minifridge. There are no plates or utensils, but we bought plastic ones and dish soap for the bathroom. The cleaning staff and bell/doormen were SO nice and helpful. We love the UWS - fantastic location near the park and museums and easy subway access. Nothing - truly fantastic stay at this hotel!! Especially for a family.
- 4/5
Lovely staff.
- 5/5
Lovely!
- 4/5
The building is beautiful, but the inside is kind of plain. No refrigerator or even ice machine on our floor. When we arrived there was a maintenance worker in the tub doing something. He seemed startled and left quickly. I later realized that the tub drain wasn't working properly. Not sure why they'd put us there without fixing it or saying anything, but it was disappointing.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect! From check in to the room itself (so clean & elegant!) to the check out. Nicematin (hotel affiliated restaurant) was very good food with great service. Location was so convenient from Henry Hudson Parkway. Will be back!
- 5/5
Attentive, kind staff always available and willing to answer logistics questions and offer suggestions. Clean rooms. Classic NYC experience.
- 2.5/5
Location was great Hotel needs to be updated badly. I feel like we time traveled to the early 80s, but not in a good way. Adding outlets to night stands would be a good start.
- 5/5
Beautiful NYC hotel. Nicely appointed. A bit pricy but comparable to other options nearby.
- 5/5
Great, relatively quiet location. Clean hotel with room service daily. Easy subway access and proximity to great spots like AMNH, Central Park, Zabars. Very pleased with our experience!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel.
- 5/5
The location was perfect for our family - 1 block from Metro (got to pass a Banksy) and restaurants. The level of service was exceptional! We were extremely comfortable and had no issues. We would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Great location.
- 5/5
Located in a great spot, very friendly staff and spacious booms!
- 4/5
Superb location that’s convenient to so much on the Upper West Side. The staff could not be more helpful and efficient. Only two downsides that might be deal-breakers for some: 1) The walls are not as soundproof as one hopes for in a hotel room (during our stay, there were noisy children in the adjacent room the first night, and a rather loud late-night talker the next night); 2) give yourself ample time to use the tiny elevators during peak times—they run slow and are used by housekeeping staff with large laundry carts. Otherwise, a nice boutique hotel.
- 5/5
Staff are great.
- 5/5
Perfect stay if you’re seeing a show at The Beacon
- 5/5
Nice size room and close to lots of great food and locations
- 5/5
my new favorite Upper West Side hotel! a little dated, but very charming and excellent construction and noise insulation...
- 5/5
Well maintained old fashioned hotel, just what I needed for one overnight stay
- 5/5
Perfect location, fabulous staff, safe neighborhood, and great walk ability. From the moment the doorman opened the door we were met with smiles and kindness…, a much needed change from most of New York. Everything you need in a walkable distance. We had a fabulous stay!
- 5/5
We completely enjoyed our stay at the Lucerne! Beautiful, spacious room in the elegant old-style hotel, all recently remodeled and in perfect condition. There's a garage about a block away for which the hotel gives a slight discount--expensive, but that's New York. We'll stay there again next time we need to be on the Upper West Side.
- 5/5
Never needed laundry. Staff was very attentive
- 4/5
Nice spot in a quieter part of the city. Close to Central Park.
- 5/5
Very knowledgeable staff. Rooms are nice. It is a vintage hotel that has been updated. Great water pressure and heat ?? in the shower. Also love the door men that open the door for you. Great touch. Location is excellent for subway and bus pickup/dropoff.- 1 block or less. Makes navigating NYC easier. Elevate works as it supposed to but it is a little slow. Also the door for it does not always open completely. I bumped into it.a couple times when I didn’t pay attention good.
- 4/5
The Lucern was wonderfully located and exceptionally clean. The decor is dated, but pretty. The rooms (we had 2 rooms) were stuffy and the temperature difficult to regulate. We really enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Lovely rooms, excellent staff, great location and convenient parking right across the street.
- 5/5
It’s a great hotel and location. Will definitely book it again.
- 4/5
Great location for the Bracon and restaurants nearby
- 5/5
Great location, convenient to subway. Perfect in every way!
- 5/5
Staff was very attentive super clean and well kept rooms. $6+ bottle of water in the room is a bit prices but there are stores very close by to grab snacks and drinks if you need them. Would definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
My stay was just one night, but the staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was perfect for what I needed. The location is easy to find and close to what I was there to do. Walking the area was easy.
- 5/5
Very convenient to The Beacon Theatre, Natural History Museum, and public transportation to get where you want to go. When we are in NYC, we stay at the Lucerne Hotel
- 5/5
The hotel is well located in a residential area with many bagel shops and restaurants nearby. Very friendly and professional staff. It is quite clean and quiet. Very very nice shampoo, conditioner and lotion provided. I wish I could find it online for purchase! Small issue in bathroom was addressed and repaired immediately. We have stayed here several times and will continue to us it on our trips to Manhattan.

- 4/5
Excellent hotel with great location- highly recommended.
- 5/5
Clean. Convenient.
- 4/5
We had a large room with a separate area with a little lounge Heating did not seem to be working in our room. It did work in bathroom and lounge area
- 5/5
Great location. Super friendly staff
- 5/5
I have no complaints - I felt the staff, decor etc were what you would find in four-star hotels in some European countries. As soon as you arrive, a friendly door-man was there to assist - not only when you arrive with luggage but upon every return from an outing. What was precious - the wonderful Nice:Matin
- 4.5/5
The view. As someone visiting NYC for the 1st time, I wouldve truly loved to be able to see the city from my room.
- 5/5
Beautiful stay. Superb service!
- 5/5
Conviently located in
- 5/5
Hotel staffs are nice. Room is clean and good size.
- 5/5
Everything was fabulous and clean. Up to date amd great service. The attached restaurant is top-notch.
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff!
- 1/5
I really cannot fathom why this hotel is rated so highly. Rooms are beyond date, terrible. Check in was past 4pm, and my room had an hvac drip which kept me up all night long. It's old and dirty. The doormen were great, but besides, this, it's a dump.
- 5/5
Everything was fantastic.
- 5/5
Nice room. Good UWS location. Nice French restaurant attached.
- 5/5
Nice room size. Lovely breakfast restaurant. Great to have an economic lift to the airport at checkout time.
- 5/5
super staff!
- 5/5
Staff was excellent from Ephy, to Patrick, to Mark, to Laughter, to all the doormen. Room was great. Nice and quiet. Elevator buttons - some of them didn't work. Old hotel so can't be perfect.
- 5/5
Spotless, courteous, full-service, professional
- 4/5
Nicely renovated rooms; excellent French restaurant in the same building
- 4/5
Room was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel is perfect.
- 4/5
Our room with 2 beds was very comfortable. The only thing missing were a small fridge and a microwave. Location was very convenient and area feels safe and friendly.
- 4/5
Friendly and efficient staff. Clean rooms.
- 5/5
This is an amazing place. It feels like our home away from home when in NYC:)
- 4/5
Clean, beautiful, charming! Very helpful staff. Great location for getting all over the city!
- 5/5
The staff was excellent from doorman to porter. Breakfast was lovely. Charming hotel
- 4/5
Clean room. Ok gym

Overall a great hotel. Breakfast was perfect for my needs, bed was comfortable, room was average but worked just fine. So well situated
- 5/5
Great location, clean and spacious room, and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Very nice. They were not able to accommodate an early check in but were very kind.
- 5/5
Room was great! Staff courteous!
- 5/5
A great place to stay
- 4/5
Clean, simple elegance.
- 5/5
Courteous and friendly staff and the best location that's convenient to Central Park, the subway, Zabar's, and great restaurants!
- 5/5

- 5/5
Clean room. quiet, comfy beds
- 5/5
Clean loathe room, nice staff great location
- 5/5
Courteous and clean. will stay again.
- 5/5
Staff members are friendly, efficient, quick to please. Location is excellent. Room a nice size.
- 4/5
I love everything about the hotel. Great vibe, clean, awesome neighborhood. The only thing that was difficult for me was the temperature control. You can't set the heat any lower than 68 degrees and if you completely turn off the heat and open the window, my room never got below 70 and it was below zero outside. I might be the exception, but I can't sleep in a room that's warmer than 65 degrees so I didn't sleep much.
- 5/5
The staff and room were great!
- 5/5
This was a great location!
- 4/5
Clean room, staff was friendly and courteous
- 5/5
Pleasure. Will come again
- 5/5
Room was spacious and staff was excellent
- 5/5
Great location if you want to be on the upper west side. It’s an older hotel but well maintained
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, attentive staff, comfortable bed, Great pillows! Definitely would choose again.
- 2/5
Coffee in the room and there was two of us there. If you need guest privileges this is not the place for you.
- 5/5
Nice room. Excellent restaurant.
- 5/5
Very cozy spacious and elegant room with beautiful interior and all necessities. Great location, street view is wonderful and not noisy. Staff is very caring and respectful, butlers were absolutely great and helped with luggage and a stroller ❤️
- 5/5
The room was very clean and comfortable. Location is great, one block from the subway. Restaurants and Duane Reade a short walk away. The staff was friendly. Hope to stay again.
- 5/5
I always love staying at the Lucerne. Excellent upper west side accommodations. We will be back!

Very nice room. French Resteraunt had excellent breakfast.
- 5/5
Room was very clean. Cleaning service was excellent. Staff was very professional and helpful.
- 4/5
Room fine, if a little dated. Nice area.
- 4/5
We missed not having a small fridge and a microwave but everything else’s was great.
- 4/5
Had a good stay.
- 5/5
Spotless and well staffed. Housekeeping efficiently FedExed my forgotten toiletries! Really refreshing and surprising in today’s world …
- 5/5
spotless room & staff were great & always smiling
- 5/5
Room was amazing. So close to public transportation. Such a great way to stay in the city without having to stay downtown.
- 4/5
Very clean and a comfy bed. The only issue is with many hotels. The doors aren’t thick enough and you always hear people in the hallway.
- 5/5
Staff is courteous. Location is great.
- 5/5
Like staying here…a very good value for NYC.
- 5/5
rooms were clean and staff, especially doormen were so nice and helpful. The hotel is in a great location close enough but out of the touristy areas of midtown.
- 5/5
Clean, kind staff, helpful doormen, spacious
- 5/5
This is the only place I'll stay in NYC (after trying many hotels throughout the city). The location is on block away from the subway, there's a terrific restaurant connected to the hotel plus other wonderful restaurants, the service and staff are attentive, the rooms are perfectly clean every time, the rooms are very large (for a deluxe room), and it's a short walk to Lincoln Center, Central Park, the Metropolitan and American History Museums.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Staff were professional and polite! Room was clean and quiet! Comfy beds! A wonderful experience!
- 3/5
Room was OK; staff was indifferent, especially at check-in. Good location though. Leaning towards staying else where next time.
- 4/5
Good
- 5/5
Old world charm of a traditional style hotel with excellent service
- 4/5
Everything was wonderful except the entrance wasn't handicap accessible which created a challenge for a family member who uses mobility assistance. we managed, but getting him up and down the steps safely was difficult
- 5/5
Great stay. Amazing helpful staff. Great part of town!
- 5/5
This was a wonderful place to stay. It was clean, roomy, convenient and safe. Staff go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and keep you comfortable. We stayed at 3 different hotels due to canceled flights and this was by far the best for the planned half of oir trip.
- 5/5
We had such a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary. Staff was so friendly, room was beautiful. They really went above and beyond to make us feel special. Will definitely go back and already recommended it to others to stay. Nice Matin for dinner was also delicious! Cant wait to come back.
- 5/5
I’ve been to NYC many times, and The Lucerne had the nicest front desk person I have encountered—pleasant and helpful. Thanks! Room was clean and comfortable. No complaints.
- 3/5
Earlier check in time
- 5/5
Clean room nice service amazing location
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Classy hotel
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
The location was fabulous. So close to the natural history museum & Central Park. A subway station close walking distance as well. We saw a show at the Beacon Theater, also close! Lots of good restaurants around. The staff were all amazing & helped set up a car for the airport. Will stay again. The room was small & basic but all we needed.
- 5/5
Clean room and freely staff
- 5/5
Overall great stay, nice staff, room temperature controls worked great , nice showers pressure comfy beds.
- 4/5

- 5/5
Nice clean room and friendly staff
- 5/5
Clean room, great location, comfortable and updated.
- 5/5
Breakfast wasn't included but the restaurant was excellent
- 5/5
Immaculate property. Excellent restaurant. Great gym. Fabulous location
- 5/5
Good stay overall
- 5/5
Staff were all extremely friendly. Doormen were attentive, front desk were friendly and efficient. Love the rooms here! Will be returning in the future
- 5/5
Clean rooms, excellent location, great for touring the city, close to the subway, easy access to Times Square, World Trade Center, Broadway etc. Friendly staff, helpful. Nice Martin Restaurant is great.
- 3/5
The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the constant vacuuming in the hallway was loud, and there was no fridge to keep cold drinks in our room. Staff was rude and imperious at check-in.
- 5/5
Rooms were clean and well maintained. Staffwere very friendly.
- 3/5
The staff is great here. Was a little disappointed in the 2-queen suite. I thought it would be as spacious as the king suite and it’s just not. Don’t like the living space at all. Will stick with the king suite going forward. My bad. Won’t make that mistake again.
- 3/5
But everything else was cheap - plastic drinking cups, (2) cardboard coffee cups (2) tiny tissues and the cheapest toilet paper ever. This was in a (junior) Suite. No kettle, no refrigerator but they did provide a tiny one that smelled of take-out food. The thermostat didn't work. We got a suite so we could catch up with friends but it wasn't up to that standard. Love the area. It's fabulous.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Everything was beautiful
- 5/5
Great stay at the Lucerne Hotel. The King Suite room was excellent, Great location easy on and off for the subway. The staff was truly professional. I finally found the perfect hotel to revisit in New York.
- 4/5
Staff accommodating Rooms clean
- 3/5
Decent hotel.ok staff. Nothing special. Good location. One elevator was out for a Mon morning checkout.
- 5/5
The room was clean, the hot water and bathtub were amazing! Staff were super nice and helpful and location was great! Two blocks from Central Park, 2 minutes from subway and away from the craziness from Times Square but 5 minutes away from subway. Perfect location! We definitely will be staying again!
- 4/5
I loved the upper west side location. Fun eating options abound. My room was pretty large for New York City and nicely appointed. I didn't have much of a view but at least there was a little garden on the landing. The lobby is elegant and a nice place to meet up. Overall, a solid choice.
- 2/5
Room felt neglected, carpet was torn and curtains fading. A request for teabag was turned down with “Tea are available for purchase from our Restaurant through room service or in person dining. Other than that we can point you in the right direction if you'd like to purchase K cups for the coffee maker in your room.” Nonchalant management and overall low quality.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, quick response to our requests, rooms very clean & comfortable, location to Subway excellent
- 3/5
Room service was not existent I could not even get a cup of tea an hour later they brought me up hot water with lemon room service horrible front desk never answer the phone service was not typical for what I'm used to
- 5/5
Spacious, clean and quiet room. Great location with nearby access to restaurants and shopping.
- 5/5
Clean room. Very friendly staff
- 5/5
Excellent staff throughout
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Room was a little small and elevator was slow, but everything else was wonderful.
- 3/5
Property needs some love. Staff were great but amenities limited, but you can easily access whatever you want or need on the Upper Westside. It is a place to sleep. Lobby is the only community space.
- 3/5
Elevator broken and tv broken
- 5/5
The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable! The location is fantastic. All of the employees were courteous and friendly. I was very thankful to the concierge who helped me find options for a last-minute birthday cake delivery!
- 5/5
Delicious
- 5/5
Staff members were very nice and I was met with a warm welcome every time. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The location is good for Upper West Manhattan, close to Central Park.
- 5/5
Great beds
- 5/5
style of rooms - ambience - not generic soullesss contemporary hotel
- 4/5
Wonderful place to stay. The thermostat in the room didn’t work so it was super hot or super cold. Otherwise a great stay
- 4/5
Nice Matin French restaurant at the hotel very good and welcoming.
- 5/5
The room was beautiful and spacious, the staff are outstanding.
- 5/5
Very clean, comfortable room! Staff extremely friendly and helpful! That’s why we come back here year after year.
- 5/5
Great location and accomodations on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. We loved how close it is to great restaurants, Central Park and the subway. Staff was great and very attentive to our questions and needs. Definitely recommend and hope to return soon!
- 5/5
Excellent service from beginning to end.
- 3/5
VERY UNCOMFORTABLE
- 5/5
Room, staff and breakfast were all wonderful.
- 5/5
This is a very sweet little spot on the upper west side. It’s one block to the subway, so it’s very easy to utilize public transportation. It’s quiet and nicely appointed. There are plenty of neighborhood, restaurants, including in the building : Nice Marin. If you want to be uptown, this gives you the feel of being in a real residential neighborhood. I would return.
- 5/5
Quiet, clean great location
- 3/5
Yes
- 5/5
Check in was easy and staff very helpful
- 5/5
Spotless service excellent food next door good prices good the junior suite was large and quiet
- 4/5
The rooms were extremely drafty, and I can’t say that the heat got up to whatever we set it at.
- 4/5
For younger people the subway is convenient but we would not be able to manage it at our age. The beds were extremely comfortable.
- 4/5
Staff very very professional and helpful
- 2/5
Do not book a Junior Suite. There is nowhere to sit in the “sitting area” and there is no mini fridge. There is nothing “suite” about it. It’s a scam markup for a slightly larger room with no additional amenities. Do not sleep in room 201. It sounds like the boiler room with constant noises at night. Also, there was a long hair in my shower. I’m a solo man. It wasn’t my hair. Honestly, stay away
- 5/5
We did not eat there.
- 5/5
My room was clean and the staff was very welcoming. I had to do a late check in and everything went fast and easy
- 5/5
No need… five stars says it all.
- 5/5
Excellent staff. Nice comfortable room
- 5/5
The breakfast was not free, but guests are offered a 15% discount at the restaurant next door, Nicematin.
- 5/5
Loved the location of the hotel! Central to all things quintessential New York! Staff were extremely helpful, kind, and professional! Cat wait to come back
- 5/5
Very helpful staff
- 5/5
Lovely hotel! Staff was helpful and very accommodating to our needs. Hotel in a great location and very clean. Will stay there again when in NYC!
- 5/5
Clean. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
It was clean and spacious. It was warm and welcoming
- 5/5
Seamless check-in. Friendly reception. Accommodating to the max. THANK YOU.
- 5/5
Clean room , spacious for New York ( it was a suite)
- 5/5
Very welcoming doormen and reception staff! Quiet comfortable rooms and good temperature control thermostats. We will certainly book the Lucerne again.
- 5/5
Courteous staff. Clean room. Quick response to fix shower head. Been staying here for over 20 years.
- 5/5
Housekeeping kept the room very clean . My daughter and really enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Good location
- 3/5
3.5 stars. Beds were good. Staff was nice. Restaurant was amazing for wait staff, food quality and ambience. The TV remote was problematic which impacted our relaxation. When we called for new batteries for the remote, staff came up and told us that wasn't the issue and we need to point it at the sensor. Not helpful nor a solution. Remote control not working like a standard remote control negatively impacted the quality of our relaxing time in the hotel after a long day of walking.
- 5/5
Room was spacious (for NY) and very clean. The attached restaurant, Nice Matin, is always a treat. Front desk and door men were always attentive and helpful.
- 5/5
Great classic hotel with outstanding rooms and staff. Attached restaurant and bar are a neighborhood gem and the location is a perfect setting
- 5/5
Clean rooms, excellent hot water and pressure. Very good Italian restaurant across the street.
- 5/5
Rooms are always meticulous and refreshed. Thanks again, Ralph & Kathleen
- 5/5
Atmosphere was great! They put me on a high floor without requesting. Room was very clean. Would definitely consider staying again
- 5/5
Room was very nice very clean and the staff was gracious and welcoming
- 5/5
Beautiful boutique hotel in an amazing prewar architecture neighborhood with terrific restaurants nearby and a sumptuous brasserie filled with locals at all hours (Nice Matin). The service is great, the bathrooms are small but I love having a bath, and nicely fitted. Even though I commuted by cab for three days into downtown it was much more affordable than the ridiculous rates being charged in midtown and downtown by more mediocre hotels.
- 5/5
Good sized room, helpful staff, spotlessly clean. Not quite a four-star but well above three-star. Nice Matin is a lovely French dining experience.
- 2/5
The hotel needs a serious upgrade! The rooms are extremely dated
- 4/5
The adjacent French restaurant Nice Matin was an excellent place for both breakfast and dinner. The famous gourmet grocery and kitchenwares shop Zabar’s is only 2 blocks away.
- 4/5
Staff were very courteous and helpful. Fantastic location. One block from the subway. Near tons of cafes, restaurants, the Beacon Theater and Central Park.
- 5/5
Pleasant old fashioned hotel with big rooms for the price. Friendly front desk.
- 4/5
Pleasant ambience, friendly staff, excellent housekeeping.
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable room. Staff very accommodating. Restaurant is excellent. Would definitely recommend.
- 5/5
Will stay here again.
- 4/5
Nice hotel. Good location.
- 5/5
The staff was great, always available immediately and helpful. Especially appreciated doormen, cleaning staff (very clean) and night staff. I reported some noisy neighbors at midnight to the front desk who immediately checked it out and then I got a great sleep. Everything in excellent workig condition. Great location. Look forward to returning!
- 5/5
All services were good and comfortable.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5

- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
For the price this hotel is more stars. Nice staff, quiet room, clean, comfortable bed, good restaurants nearby. Near markets and very close to a convenient subway line
- 4/5
Old furniture and fixtures (no USB port anywhere) but very clean. Front desk staff ought to be a little friendlier or less bored: on check in Jose never made eye contact but was intent of filing his nails. Good value and comfortable enough for an overnight.
- 5/5
Great location, clean, comfortable room.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and great location
- 3/5
Our room was near the elevator and it was very noisy. When I mentioned this to the front desk, they berated me for not calling them in the middle of the night to complain as it was happening. They did move my room, and I appreciated that, but the beds were smaller in the new room.
- 5/5
Very clean. Convenient location next to the subway. Spacious room. Very friendly staff! Great experience!!
- 5/5
Incredible location and I love Nice Matin, the restaurant on prem
- 5/5
All of the above incl. airport transport w Antonio
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean room, great location

- 5/5
Fantastic location, friendly staff and great amenities. Would recommend to all and will stay again in the future.
- 3/5
Hotel front stairways and stairway from the lobby to the restaurant are not designed for people with disabilities !
- 5/5
Great room Great location Hotel Lucerne
- 5/5
Clean room, wonderful staff!
- 5/5
So good. Many thanks to the staff there
- 5/5
A dream of a room with a separate sitting area. And staff, housekeeping, front desk-- excellent. . But nothing tops the porters at the door, as elegant as any you'll find on Park Avenue. Elevating the entire experience. And that goes for the restaurant attached, as well, Nice Matin. Don't miss it for dinner. Beautiful setting, Fabulous meal. Great cocktails. Steak frites was yummy! As were the mussels. We skipped desert and went around the corner on Amsterdam for some phenomenal gelato. Missed lunch and their croque madame. next time! For breakfast you've got the perfect bagel shop catty corner. Grab a bagel and coffee and head to the park, right up 79th street. Which will immediately transport you to every NY movie scene that you love. At Columbus enter the park, continue on at CPW and 80th. Thank you Hotel Lucerne. We'll be back!
- 5/5
Great stay.
- 5/5
I've stayed here several times. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is great vibe block to the subway, right by Central Park and Museum of Natural History. Walk to lots of places on the West Side.
- 3/5
Unprofessional staff. Did not
- 4/5
Nice clean property. Welcoming staff
- 5/5
We have stayed at the Lucerne several times since 2002 and will return. We enjoy the neighborhood vibe of the Upper West Side and the Lucerne is conveniently located near Central Park, great restaurants and interesting shopping. Subway stations are conveniently located one block away at the corner of 79th Street and Broadway and at the corner of 81st Street and Central Park West. The hotel itself is clean and quiet and staff is professional and helpful. We are more than pleased with The Lucerne Hotel.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel, reminds me of a hotel in Paris. Rooms are nice & clean. Good location, away from the hustle & bustle of Times Square, but very conveniently located near the train station. Took just 1 train to get to Broadway & Statue of Liberty. Also only a 5 minute walk to American Museum of Natural History. There’s a 24 hour market right across the street. Will be back & highly recommend!
- 5/5
Fantastic staff, polite an helpful ! Felt very safe ! Very clean room, housekeeping is amazing! This will be our go to hotel in NY ! Great location!
- 5/5
Great locations to restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Helpful staff!

AC temperature is set at a minimum of 68 and during fall months that isn't low enough for a comfortable sleep. Rooms are very small and bathrooms need updating
- 5/5
Such a clean hotel with very comfy beds and great service. The nice matin was delicious for dinner.
- 5/5
My second stay at The Lucerne. Love the location; staff is friendly, room is clean and comfortable. Will return.
- 5/5
Beautiful clean comfortable room
- 5/5
Beautiful room and accommodations. There was a clicking sound that came from the AC/fan in both the bedroom and the living area. We kept the fan on at night to keep from hearing the clicking.
- 5/5
A++ on hospitality! Seriously top notch service.
- 5/5
So convenient to everything. We got a slightly bigger-than-standard room so it was very comfortable. Very helpful, friendly staff. Will definitely stay here the next time we come to NYC.
- 5/5
The hotel lobby was inviting and immaculate. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was very quiet, even though I was on the 2nd floor. Very walkable neighborhood, and the restaurant next door was outstanding.
- 5/5
Clean with old School vibe and wonderful staff. Right near 79th Subway Station for downtown access , many varied restaurants within easy walking distance. The restaurant on site was also great. Loved that you could walk to Central Park every day.
- 5/5
Great location! Quiet but walkable to a great area with restaurants at night. Right across the street from the subway.
- 5/5
location in a safe, convenient, legendary neighborhood. Abundant restaurants and hangouts nearby in any direction for a true New York experience, quite removed from high density tourist hotels. Easy subway access to other areas of the city or airports. The Lucerne is where locals refer friends and family to stay. Not cheap, but a fair value in New York, and far less than other similar venues. If you pay less, you will get less. The Lucerne is quiet, clean, safe, and well maintained. The Lucerne staff are friendly and well trained. Pay the extra for a daily breakfast at Petit Matin which is located in the same building as the Lucerne, and has an entry door next to the elevators. It’s also a great place for dinners, and is a local favorite. Tough to find a better value in a better location than the Lucerne.
- 5/5
I would stay again in that place, really beautiful and wonderful staff
- 4/5
Responsive and helpful front desk, rooms are dated.
- 4/5
No fans in the rooms and air conditioning would shut off after an hour so we’d wake up extremely hot in the middle of the night. Our TV also kept on turning on and off by itself like it was possessed ao we had to unplug it. That being said, the convenient location around lots of restaurants and by the subway made all the inconveniences worth it.
- 5/5
I loved my stay overall. What I did not like at all is that there are five or six large deep steps to get into the hotel and no railing on either side to hold onto. I'm very surprised they allowed this.
- 2/5
Room was tiny, bathroom antiquated for almost $800 D
- 5/5
Favorite upper west side hotel close to Central Park and 2 subway lines. A little dated.
- 5/5
Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room.
- 3/5
This was a favorite of my wife and I, but seems to have gone downhill. We stayed 5 nights and had reservations for another 3 nights a month later (which we cancelled). When we arrived the staff was welcoming - until we got to our room which reeked of smoke, our something! We spoke to the front desk and went to dinner (Nice Matin is a lovely restaurant of the lobby)! After dinner the person at the desk said they had no other rooms and that they had dealt with the odor - which he characterized as “sometimes happens, it’s an old hotel”! They had turned the AC up, and the odor was better but not gone. It never fully dissipated the whole 5 nights. Didn’t appreciate being gaslighted by the staff. Our second stay was at a different hotel down the street - nicer and cheaper! So disappointing!
- 5/5
Great location - walking distance to Central Park, museums and lots of dining options. Loved the upper west side area. Hotel staff were kind and room was clean. Would definitely stay again in the future!
- 4/5
Hotel was clean. Door staff adequate. Nice Matin restaurant on site very convenient and very good. Plenty of fine dining options within blocks. Ditto buses and subways. Neighborhood felt safe. A little touristy.
- 5/5
Conveniently located in a good neighborhood. Wonderful staff was very welcoming
- 5/5
Great place. Really a great spot to move around the city and subway.
- 5/5
Beautiful rooms with a great view in a nice part of town.

The staff was kind and helpful- we arrived early than check in and they were happy to out our name on the waitlist to check in as soon as our room was available. They allowed us to keep our bags without a fee, so we can begin exploring. The room was clean and a great size, and truly just an overall lovely stay. Would highly recommend and we would stay again! Thank you Hotel Lucerne!
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Maybe the hotel could use a little updating but overall very clean.
- 5/5
Adjoining is the Nice Matin restaurant - top notch for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In addition, all kinds of dining, coffee and cocktail opportunities with 2 blocks, and we felt comfortable on the street, although we were generally back at the hotel by 10:00. The neighborhood is vibrant and busy - and very normal. Subway just a block away to go afield, and lots of Uber available for alternate travel. Walking distance to Museum of Natural History, Central Park, and even the Met Museum.
- 5/5
Excellent location and amazing rooms. Staff was friendly and the stay was very enjoyable overall.
- 5/5
Nice and historic venue close to central Park!
- 5/5
The location is surrounded by restaurants with convenient hours, within easy walking distance. It's a 10-minute walk to the Museum of Natural History/Central park, just a 5 minute walk to the 79th St Subway on the red line. It took us about 30-40 mins by metro transit to get downtown to meetings--a fraction of the time it would have taken by car, and a fraction of the cost.
- 5/5
Our go to spot for stays in NYC is always Hotel Lucerne.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, Parking garage across the street, hotel is old but kept well. Lots of food choices.
- 5/5
Wonderful friendly staff, spacious room, and ideal location— we’ll be back!
- 5/5
Staff held our bags and texted me when our room was ready which was several hours earlier than the stated checkin time. This was really helpful
- 5/5
Internet very reilable. Shopping options not fully explored, but what I did see/use was very good.
- 5/5
They need towel bars in the bathrooms. They also need to increase the number of electrical outlets in the rooms. It would also be nice to have a lighted, magnified mirror in the bathroom. The only full length mirror was on a closet door.
- 5/5
Quiet room in a lovely location...a real neighborhood. If you want touristy, this is not it. Staff was very friendly and helpful at all hours. Enjoyed breakfast at the adjacent restaurant also.
- 5/5
We stayed in the king suite which was perfect for my partner and I and our baby. The hotel provided a pack and play and had it set up upon arrival. The location is wonderful! On the block is the 1 and within a few blocks multiple bus stops. Easy walk to both riverside and Central Park. The restaurant downstairs was great for breakfast and we stopped in for lunch, both times we didn’t need reservations. Will stay again!
- 5/5
The Lucerne is a beautiful hotel, the staff, especially the front door staff is amazing. Nice Matin is a great restaurant and just next door which is convenient. My only issue was that the beds are vey high and as a disabled person they were difficult to get into, i asked about a step stool but they did not have one. Other than that the hotel is very clean, the beds are comfortable and I felt safe.
- 5/5
Wonderful location.
- 5/5
This place was absolutely perfect. The room was sparkling clean, the staff were exceptionally helpful. Great location near the Park and natural history museum. I will stay here when I visit again.
- 5/5
The Lucerne is an excellent hotel in every way.
- 5/5
Friendly staff Comfortable beds Great value!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in the best location.
- 5/5
Lovely room and hotel. Staff were so helpful. I had forgotten a belt, and asked a gentleman at the front desk where I might buy one nearby. He thought a minute, then suggested a shoe repair shop around the corner. Belts!! Excellent kosher pizza and sandwich shop across the street. 15 min walk to Central Park. Will return. ❤️
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful every step during my stay. I felt safe in the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The room-darkening blinds cut out so much light and traffic noise that I hardly felt I was in a city. While I never ate at the restaurant, it was clear that those who did were enjoying both the food and the ambiance. I think I found my forever hotel in NYC. I will return here again and again, and have already recommended it to others within 48 hours of returning home. Book here! You won’t regret it!!
- 4/5
Nice hotel in the upper west side.
- 5/5
Convenient location
- 1/5
I would not stay here again… It was the gaslighting from the front desk staff that makes this hotel particularly poor. Guess next time I’ll stick with Hilton and Marriott. I’ve never had a problem either switching rooms or getting a refund when the mattress was not the appropriate size at these hotels.
- 5/5
Clean, pretty and convenient
- 5/5
Excellent service facilities and location
- 5/5
Okay so far. Obviously the benefit of this hotel is its location.
- 5/5
Very friendly & helpful staff all around (front desk, doorman/porter/bell hop, housekeeping). Arrived before check-in time & front desk alerted me by txt msg as soon as room was available (~5hrs prior to official check-in time), and accommodated late check-out by up to 30min. Only blemish was I encountered (& exterminated) a very small cockroach in the bathroom during my stay.
- 4/5
Very nice staff very clean room. I didn't like the mattress but that's just because I back issues. I think most people would find it perfectly comfortable.
- 4/5
The hotel was very nice. The attached restaurant, where hotel guests receive a discount on breakfast (Nice Matin) is also very good with very reasonable prices.
- 4/5
Room had an interior view of a light shaft, but this kept it quiet, no street noise.
- 5/5
We had an excellent stay at The Lucerne! The staff was wonderful, our room was spotless, comfortable, and in a perfect location. I especially appreciated that the Peloton bikes were updated and ready to ride—something I don’t often find when traveling. Thank you for making everything so enjoyable. A truly great stay!
- 5/5
Awesome hotel on the upper west side. Very convenient walk to local restaurants and to the natural history museum. Close to the subway as well.
- 5/5
The hotel was lovely. Great location, spacious rooms for NYC, wonderful, friendly service and excellent beds and linens.
- 4/5
Very nice hotel with historic charm, lovely staff, great neighborhood
- 5/5
Great location - incredibly convenient. There is store across the street, a lovely restaurant in the hotel and many eating establishments nearby. The staff was attentive. Housekeeping was excellent.
- 5/5
spacious room....helpful employees..great location...
- 5/5
Very nice Hotel, seems haunted but it’s nice.
- 4/5
Great service
- 4/5
Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable rooms, but decor and style are dated. Reminds me of old Hilton rooms—just cleaner and staffed with friendlier people
- 5/5
I’ve stayed here a couple times when
- 5/5
Everyone at Lucerne was very nice and friendly. Very accommodating. Will stay here again!
- 5/5
Great neighborhood ! Easy walking to restaurants and the subway. Older hotel but well maintained with exceptional service. Doorman at the door when you enter the hotel making you feel welcome .
- 5/5
Not a cookie cutter hotel. Had a lot of character
- 3/5
The hotel is in a prime location and great staff but every thing is old. It needs a serious update.
- 5/5
Lovely the whole stay
- 5/5
Clean, nicely appointed, reasonable rate.
- 5/5
Beautiful historic beaux arts bldg on upper west side. Lots nearby for dining options, close to Central Park, MET, Madison Ave shopping. Good staff. Be prepared for no in room refrigerator or microwave. Lots of easy food options nearby
- 5/5
Very helpful staff, clean rooms and public areas. Amenities exist but are limited. Excellent location in Manhattan.
- 5/5
The hotel itself is comfortable, clean, and has a wonderful staff.
- 5/5
Great staff. Fantastic neighborhood and walkable to everything.
- 5/5
Beautiful experience in the amazing New York City! I highly recommend The Lucerne for a wonderful time.
- 5/5
The Lucerne Hotel is a classic hotel on the upper west side. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend staying here.
- 4/5
The entire staff was excellent at every interaction. The location is a short walk from the subway and Central Park. Our only issues were with the mattresses and the electrical outlets. The mattresses caused aches, and the outlets were very loose, making it difficult to keep anything plugged in, especially phone or watch charging blocks.
