1. small, cramped room 2. take and go breakfast service. couldn't sit and eat there. 3. ended up having a drink at the much friendlier bar by the hotel entrance after we entered the bar further inside (which had free tables) and were told we had to first check with the staff at this bar entrance if we could sit. we were nonplussed, because those two staff saw us walking in and had not said anything.

The location is very good. The complimentary breakfast was a pleasant surprise, with the right portion size and good quality. The nightly rate of the hotel is high; however, this is New York. I stayed in a King room and the size for two people was quite tight. I can’t imagine what the smaller rooms are like. The hotel is expensive, from the rooms to the bar. However, the location partly makes up for it. The view from my room was not good, but the room itself was tastefully decorated.

Great location in a cool neighbourhood and close to plenty of sites to see and bites to eat. The hotel has a great vibe and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was perfect for two people staying a few nights with plenty of space for our luggage without it feeling cramped. The sheets were DIVINE - I slept like a baby ☺️ Nothing - would happily stay again!

Location was quite good. There is wholefoods market 2mins away, Barry's bootcamp is also quite near. Walking distance from the highline. The hotel is very near flatiron and also along lower end of 5th avenue. Room was very comfortable, nice firm bed, toiletries and bathrobes provided. Complimentary breakfast is mediocre at best. You get a choice of pastry or overnight oats, drip coffee, tea or OJ. Its a choice of one food 1 drink. When I asked for a second cup of drip coffee they said no. We arrived at the hotel very early and expected the room to not be ready. However, we came back at 3pm which is their check in time and the room was still not ready. No hot drinks facility in room; water/snacks in room is chargeable. Have to go to front desk to ask for water. Having complimentary bottled water in the room is standard surely?

The hotel is located close to Times Square. The surrounding area is dirty and very crowded. The hotel itself is quite old and in need of renovation. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful – definitely the strongest aspect of the entire hotel. Our room was very small (even though we were told it was one of the largest rooms in the hotel), but it was clean. We actually had to rearrange the furniture just to be able to open our suitcases. The closet was more like a small storage cabinet and could barely accommodate the clothes of even one person. The pillows were not very comfortable. The breakfast was rather basic, repetitive, and not worth the price. Every day there were only 4–5 options available, and the most popular items would run out quickly, leaving guests to choose from whatever was left. There were no healthy options at all – even the yogurt was sweetened. Overall, the hotel’s location may be convenient for visiting Times Square, but the property itself falls short in several areas and would benefit from significant updates. The excellent staff were the highlight of our stay. This is definitely not the standard one would expect from a five-star hotel.

This hotel is in a great location and had a great look and feel. It was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again, but I do have a suggestion for the hotel that might help to take it to the next level. We were given some vouchers for a free breakfast each morning, but the free breakfast only came with one cup of coffee. You pay for refills. Like most people, I need at least two cups of coffee each morning to get me started. Free coffee seems to be pretty standard at most hotels. I know that the price of coffee has gone up, but this is a four-star hotel and should act like one. I would suggest that you offer free coffee and use real plates and utensils (not plastic ones) at breakfast. Other than that, everything was great.

The breakfast wasn’t as great as it had ran out each morning around 9.30am. And the variety was very limited. The location and staff. I was given a room on the 13th floor. The room was definitely roomier but the view was very bad.

Gym is quite small but is stocked with good equipment. Rooms are on the smaller side but this is New York so very expected. Loved the furnishings of the room, felt cosy and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was solid but wish they had more hot options.

I stay here often. It’s a lovely hotel with a wonderfully convenient location and great staff. My major complaint for the last 5 years is the breakfast (it’s very mid)… but it’s a decent trade off for a reasonably priced room in the city.

The Evelyn Hotel is conveniently located near many of the NYC attractions with easy access to the subway within a 2-block walking distance. The staff was great in getting my group into the rooms prior to 3PM and providing bottles of wine which was a wonderful amenity. The grab and go breakfast was delicious. Ariel at the front desk and the manager were great and tended to all our needs.

I liked the decor in the lobby, room, and throughout the hotel. The hotel staff at reception were friendly and attentive. When I asked to see the restaurant, the staff provided an impromptu tour. The room faced a brick wall. We had only one robe for two people. There was not a high attention to detail. I would have liked complimentary water placed by the bed each evening and turn-down service.

Didn't have view. Would be lovely if it was easier to grab a drink to go upstairs, but the bar is pretty busy at night and you can't really order from there to bring up.

The location was great! We even walked back from shopping on 5th ave to the hotel. The room was small but it was fine as we were in and out. All linens were Frette, bed was super comfortable, and the shower was hot! We were on the 9th floor so we didn’t hear any street noises. Breakfast was grab and go but there was a hot option and there was space in the cafe if you wanted to sit and eat there. It was a perfect stay for the weekend!

Lovely ArtDeco style down to the last detail (check out the music design on the bathroom tile!). The location is fantastic, super close to Madison Square Park and very central to where we needed to be this past weekend. Appreciate the noon checkout time too. Would definitely come back! Can't think of anything.

Good location, extremely helpful staff. I was in a room for two but travelled alone. The room would, I feel, have been too cramped for two people, with very little space for luggage. Then again, with NYC prices/taxes being what they are, small hotel rooms are not an uncommon situation. The bed was comfortable and, overall the room was fine. The difference, to me, was the helpfulness of the staff at the front desk.

Historic, tidy, and has a fun bar. Room was cosy and bathroom was new. I happened to stay on a Saturday night in April when there was surprisingly low price for NY ($300/night) and I felt like I got good value.

It’s so close to where!

Loved staying here! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful in all areas. The bars are fantastic and had some of the best service in NY. Bedding was super comfortable, and you could feel the quality in the linens. I would love to stay here again. Only complaint was trying to get the room to cool down after the heat had been on upon arrival (we Texans like it cold lol). Rooms were quiet and cozy. Perfect getaway.

Great location, not too busy far from Times Square but pretty central. Grab n go breakfast available from the coffee shop included with room, only available until 11:00. Suite room was a decent size for a New York hotel room. Cool bar downstairs and wine hour offered in the lobby most evenings. Pull-out bed in the suite was terrible, metal coils coming through the mattress. They did put a foam topper on it to help make it more comfortable. The bar in the lobby, The Tusk, was only open two of the nights during our 5 day stay due to private events held there.

The grab and go breakfast so so limited you still have to end up paying for a 'proper" breakfast for exampel you have to buy bacon to add to your egg and if you do not what the bread they use you have to buy the crossiant. The size orange juice is smaller than the large ice coffee they serve so if you are not a coffee drinker you have to pay extra to get a decent size orange juice. They will elimnate what you do not want but to substitue you have to pay which is bad as what did you actually pay for to being with which adds up everyday that you are staying.

Hotel is lovely, and our room was great. But the gym is very small. And you can't use the mini-fridge in the rooms, as it is filled w/overpriced hotel drinks.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Evelyn. The complimentary snacks, wine hour, pretty much unlimited bottled water, and breakfast voucher were nice extras. The staff were so friendly and it was an amazing location. The extra mile the staff went to make in many ways was exceptional - their is a mini bar fridge in the room but they brought us an entire 2nd fridge so we could store our personal food/drinks. We stayed in the Nomad suite which was plenty of room for 3 people.

This hotel is a gem. I almost don’t want to describe how lovely it is. I’m concerned about others finding it… but I think it’s more important to highlight how amazing this hotel is. I’ve stayed at a dozen or so nyc hotels over the years and this is my favorite, hands down. The decor, the ambiance, THE ROOM, the bath and shower; the restaurant and bar. I love it all. I literally wanted to move into my hotel room full time. It's gorgeous and so peaceful. I want them to get more business so they never close… but I’m paranoid too. I don’t want to struggle to book a room. This place is everything. This is my hotel now. I will forever stay here every time I’m in NYC.

Front desk staff was very helpful. We had a thermostat failure in the winter. They had maintenance look at it right away and gave us a space heater to help us in the interim. Lobby is very nice and spacious. Rooms were a decent size. Bathroom seemed to have a heated floor.

Room was fair and minimalist. Manage expectations, as it’s an old building with tiny studio like Manhattan apartments. Lobby and customer service were great. Location is its biggest seller. Upgrade to the bed would be a substantial improvement.

The Evelyn is a super cute hotel with a vibrant atmosphere/ bar. Rooms are very cosy and we loved the art deco style. The staff were amazing and really made our trip! They were so welcoming , sweet and helpful at every moment. They even managed to get us last minute bookings at some top restaurants. This hotel is great value and is in a very cool/central location. We avoided the free breakfast as it’s not great and a scramble for a few seats.

1. I booked my stay here for the prime location but also based on great reviews about their cocktail bar. The hotel was hosting a wedding that weekend and the bar/restaurant was closed to the public, huge bummer. 2. I called days ahead to explain we were celebrating a birthday and to inquire about having a bottle or glass of something in the room to celebrate upon check-in (precisely to make up for the cocktail bar being closed). The man at the front desk was helpful and agreeable but when we arrived to drop off our bags prior to check-in (again, which I gave them a heads up about) they instead gave us an early check in and had no note about the birthday. I inquired again if I could purchase something to celebrate my fiancè's birthday in the room and they again agreed... and then we received nothing. 3. The "Breakfast Included" is not legitimate, they give you a voucher for the tiny cafe in the lobby that is "grab and go". I blame myself for not researching further. 4. The staff was nice even though they didn't fulfill my inquires. The room was cute but not worth the price considering it's size, uncomfortable bed, flat pillows, and terrible view (with sheer curtains). These are the times I regret going boutique and wish I had just booked the Holiday Inn (or what have you).

I would say it is overpriced. The rooms are small. They are decently well appointed but nothing to the extend that would justify the price. It is a great location, they have a great bar and restaurant downstairs. That’s about it. Friendly staff. Comparatively speaking it felt a bit in the overpriced side. I was disappointed with the room size. It vastly under delivers.

Sweet room, great staff and cute hotel!

Room was an okay size but the bathroom was tiny and the wardrobe far too small (it was less than half height so you could hang shirts but not trousers). Breakfast was literally grab and go with limited choice but was pleasant enough. Not a bad location for getting about and some nice eateries close by.

I travel to NYC often and was excited to try the Evelyn. I am not sure if they give the bad rooms to Hotels.com guests but it was a weird layout (bathroom door by the head of the bed), Small bathrooms (even to NYC standards) and the room was a bit dusty so the vintage charm was lost.

Clean room nice size good air con and tv etc - only comment would be to turn down the music in the mezzanine over breakfast!!

The staff went out of their way to help us. The room was lovely and the bed supremely comfortable. We loved the inclusion of free walking tours AND free delicious grab and go breakfast!

We enjoyed our stay but wouldn’t book the hotel again for our next visit to NYC. The room was very small, even by NYC standards. The hotel is beautifully decorated with old school art deco vibes which is what appealed to us. We’d read about the excellent and friendly service but sadly we didn’t really experience this. The service at check in was quite cold. When we mentioned we were on honeymoon there was no ‘congratulations’ just a ‘I’ll note the file’. Guest relations did send up a hamper with a free bottle of wine and some treats afterwards which was a lovely touch. But as a VIP property the bottle of wine was included anyway. The tusk bar is clearly very popular with locals, it was packed full but felt quite pretentious. It seems to be the place where local influencers go for pictures. This seems to go with the vibe of other guests staying at the hotel, no one was particularly friendly. Location wise the hotel is fine, it’s within walking distance of many local tourist sites and subways. I’d classify our overall stay as ‘fine’.

Well, they said they were gonna give me an upgraded room so they they put me right next to the elevator between the elevator and the kids on the same floor it was a noisy night no sleep. Plus the bar didn’t open till 8 o’clock because of an event and I had five people meeting me at the hotel at 6 o’clock for drinks so we had a change our plans not happy.

Amazing stay ( love the decor) and very courteous staff. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Great location . Walkable to restaurants but the restaurant in site is superb. It’s an older hotel so you can hear quite a bit of street noise . Rooms are clean , comfy bed, quirky classic decor.

Breakfast vouchers worked out well. Noise level outside our door was very high. I could hear everything happening outside my door and down the hall. No privacy with regards to noise coming out of or coming in to the room.

Only suggestion is that they should provide ice buckets. Ice available at the bar but no ice buckets.

Lovely art deco styling, super-comfortable room, extremely well-located for 5th ave shopping, Times sq etc but super-quiet and also right near to subway to get everywhere, amazingly welcoming and helpful staff, cool cocktail bar and restaurant. What's not to love?!

Hotel was very clean. While not a modern hotel as it has been functioning for many years is is well looked after. The rooms were good if a bit small but after all we were not in New York to stay in the room! Public areas were good. Breakfast was fresh and simple and more than adequate. Very enjoyable stay and would return. We walked everywhere we could and explored 4th and 5th avenues, Central Park, Empire State Building all by foot.

Room was nice for the value, loved the robe . Breakfast at the cafe was ok. Coffee was good. I did not like how the elevator took so long at times . Construction was right outside my window , plus I could hear everything going on on the other sides of wall, so I didn't sleep well. Room was too dim. Needed better lighting inside. Shower is amazing so was AC..

Wonderful boutique hotel. The Tusk bar is absolutely beautiful. Staff were amazingly attentive and helpful. Super Location close to trains park restaurants in fifth Avenue. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely come back.

I have stayed here twice, and both times were wonderful!

Nice quiet place to stay. Love the heated floors in the bathroom and water and clementines at the front desk. Clean and easy place to stay. Only inconvenience was one of the elevators was out of service several times during our 4 day stay, but we were not delayed too much with only one elevator operating.

Clean room, great location, very friendly and accommodating staff! Facility fee includes ‘free breakfast’ but not sure overnight oats and coffee and free water constitute $38/night. I asked for a quiet room and got one on the 10th floor. One elevator was broken all weekend which was annoying. Fixed by Monday. Overall good stay and would return.

Great service for Noah and the rest of the staff. Small but comfortable and clean room. Ideally located near Madison park and the flatiron district. The little cafe downstairs is perfect and the included coffee and pastry are way better than your usual hotel lobby coffee.

The staff are absolutely amazing. I think house keeping could use better cleaning equipment from corporate. They do a wonderful job for what they have. The robe was clean but stained and the towels also were clean but stained.

Staff is accommodating and friendly. Fun bar on Lobby level. Grab & go breakfast is a nice perk. Endless bottles of water from front desk. I’ll keep coming back.

Rooms are very small. Bathroom not arranged well at all. No hand soap in bathroom. The restaurant and bar are very expensive. Location is very convenient. No fridge in the room. Staff very helpful.

Front desk, concierge, restaurant, & bar staff are all quite good - personable, professional, helpful. One thing that prevents me from providing full marks is the housekeeping staff... although room was well-cleaned, the housekeeping staff held loud conversations in the hallway. This was disruptive, particularly in the mornings. That aside, it was a very enjoyable stay.

My only gripe was the noise from the street below, the buildings opposite is having some renovation work and the noise level started quite early in the morning, not the hotels fault but worth mentioning if you get assigned a front facing room and your a light sleeper this might be a problem. Apart from that it’s a nice hotel…

The Evelyn is an absolutely lovely boutique hotel! The reviews mentioned that it had been recently renovated, and, as an interior designer, the property was beautifully redone. The decor captures the Art Deco style, with a clean, modern twist. The room was quite and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in at any hotel. I also really enjoyed the included breakfast options and the polite staff. The subway station is close, and the hotel is located in an area that made it easily accessible to many landmarks. I will definitely be returning to this hotel next time I'm in New York City.

The property was nice and the restaurants in the hotel were great. The only issues were that anytime the shower was turned on the drain pipe would smell like sewage and the cafe for the breakfast needed more options for drinks like water/not coffee.

We had a great stay at the Evelyn! It’s centrally located and convenient to everywhere in NYC. The hotel is delightfully decorated in deco style and our room was spacious. Free morning coffee and take away breakfast was convenient. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The property has a cool aesthetic, with musical tiles in the bathroom and funky furniture. The rooms, however, are very loud. You can hear the shower running in the adjacent room. My room also was across from the elevator and the noise from the hallway carries. The room is also tiny.

In a city that we love but almost never feels affordable, the Evelyn Hotel is a great exception. It's a great value! Cozy, clean, friendly, and in a location that allows for walking in several different inviting directions.

The service was top rate. We were offered bottles of water every time we arrived at or departed from the hotel over an 8-day period. The breakfast was simple and good with almost no wait. Loved the location. The room lacked storage/ closet space with no drawers and room enough for 6 hangars that faced from the front to the back of the little half-height closet. No place to hang dresses. Mattress was getting old. Location perfect with easy 2-3 blocks) access to several metro stations.

Hotel was lovely and appreciated the architecture. The rooms are on the small side. Loved 12 check out and complimentary breakfast. Appreciate happy hour but would have liked an option and not just one type of wine. None the less, I would return!

My Wife and I went to New York from the UK to celebrate a significant birthday. The hotel was in an amazing location to access all of Manhatten with ease. Turn the corner on 5th Ave and there was the Empire State Building. The hotel was really well organised, set out and super clean. The standard of the room was exceptional. The staff were so incredibly nice, knowledgeable and really helpful. They even gave my wife a lovely birthday surprise. Absolutely loved the grab and go breakfast, was really nice. If anyone I know is staying in New York i will be 100% recommending this hotel to them.

Later that night after catching Glengarry Glen Ross on Broadway, we picked up some Vietnamese food on the way home. There were no utensils inside the bag, so I went downstairs to find some. The hostess at the Tusk Bar and Restaurant was very kind, and brought out a full set of silverware in a cloth napkin and told me that I could just leave it in the room. The next morning, I figured I would use the breakfast vouchers downstairs. Surprisingly, they were serving fresh orange juice and egg sandwiches made to order along with chocolate croissants, coffee, and other items on a set menu for hotel guests. There were so many amenities provided during our stay that we left with a very favorable impression. I highly recommend The Evelyn to anyone staying in Manhattan.

Our stay at The Evelyn was wonderful. The fact that they offer choices for a free breakfast was phenomenal. We did take advantage of that the majority of our trip. The rooms are a bit small but we prepared ourselves for that going in. The staff were friendly and helpful in every area. For our first trip to New York this hotel met our needs.

IMO this is a gem. Perfect size for quick in and out from room to street. Nice and convenient breakfast area. Plenty helpful staff. Priced right and in midtown. Room is adequate size for two, but some may want to upgrade. Do yourself a favor and skip the Museum of Sex next door; I went in and still regret it.

Very central location for exploring New York, minutes from Empire State Building and few minutes walking distance to closest subway station. Hotel was very clean (lobby smells amazing) and staff all friendly and helpful. Rooms were not the biggest but expected for New York, we managed for a week as a family with two teenagers. Bonus that a grab and go breakfast was included on your way to exploring the city.

Enjoyed our stay at the Evelyn hotel in June 2025. Heat wave hit NYC, 100+ temps. Our room stayed cool and comfortable. Nice park within short walk, and excellent choice of restaurants nearby.

Loved the Evelyn. The decor was beautiful, the beds comfy, service top notch, and location perfect (unless of course you come on Pride parade weekend and didn’t plan to march!). I will definitely consider staying here again.

Everyone was so friendly & helpful! The doorman, front desk & cleaning staff all very helpful! The on site cafe was a great way to start the day before heading out into the city! The heated floors in the tile bathroom were an excellent touch! I truly felt at home in the my comfy room with a bay window and the touch of sun rays that snuck in!

Fantastic! Five stars and would definitely stay again. The staff on the reception desk were incredibly warm and welcoming. My wife and I spent 4 nights here as a part of our honeymoon and we would definitely stay here again. The rooms were immaculate and cleaned every morning. The beds were very comfy and the facilities around the hotel were spot on. The grab and go breakfast was brilliant to start your day and the staff at the breakfast area were very friendly. The tusk bar was immaculate and a very nice bar to have a drink at the end of the day or before you went out into town. The location is brilliant, literally yards away from the empire state building and 5th avenue. The hotel was very quiet too compared to other hotels we have stayed at in heavy tourist areas. The experience was great overall.

The hotel paid no attention to any of the requests that I made prior to the trip. Our room was ridiculously small for the price that I was charged, our sons room had a double bed despite asking for a twin - and the bottle of wine was in fact a half bottle of wine. It's in a great location and you can't fault that - but I've stayed at better in Nomad. Overall I was disappointed with my stay at The Evelyn.

The welcome at the hotel was lovely. The public areas were very unique giving a 1930 feel very dark. Our room was clean and comfortable but small. What let it down for us was the view a brick wall with 2 rusty air conditioning units covered in pigeon poo. You don’t expect that in a 5 star hotel. Admittedly we didn’t spend much time in the room, but it would’ve been nice to open the curtains when we were in there.

The Evelyn was such an elevated, boutique-vibey hotel. Great design, great service, great location. Only wish I had been able to enjoy the gorgeous bar and takeaway breakfast during my brief stay.

What a beautiful property. It is totally refurbished but left with a lot of unique original building’s features. The staff was on point all the time, professional, cordial and helpful.
