Reviews
The hotel has a great location, with many reviews highlighting its proximity to various attractions and transportation options. However, the quality of the rooms and services varies greatly, with some guests praising the cleanliness and comfort, while others complain about noise, dirt, and poor customer service. The hotel seems to cater to budget travelers, with some guests feeling it offers good value for the price, while others find it overpriced for the quality provided.
- Excellent location
- Affordable for budget travelers
- Inconsistent room quality
- Noise and cleanliness issues
- 3/5
Not sure if hotel’s responsibility but since the doors and walls are so thin, we could hear dogs barking all morning and people making loud calls in hallways which woke us up and they wouldn’t take calls downstairs. Office never answers calls so you can’t complain about house rules. Is there house rules? No one should be allowed to make speaker phone calls in hallways. Hotel should make it clear about that. Very unpleasant moment considering how expensive the stay is.
- 5/5
A good place
- 4/5
The location was great. The rooms were very clean and kitchen stocked for how small it was. Internet was not good at all, though. It was unreliable. Give yourself time to get on the elevator if you are with your family. Overall good place. Price for storing your bags after checkout now costs $7 a bag, unlike their advertisement of $5 a bag.
- 2/5
The room did not match the photos at all. The bathtub in our room was clogged and the water would not drain. Customer service was also very rude and unhelpful.”
- 5/5
it was nice!
- 5/5
Great room-comfortable, beautiful with a three windows. Clean. Three beds are very comfortable. The kitchen was perfect amenity the bathroom was great with shower and bath bathtub. would definitely rebook. Such a great location.
- 4/5
Clean room, tight fit. The staff in the JG stay office were abrupt and not very helpful but the stay itself and location were excellent
- 4/5
Great location, spacious room for 5. Room was clean and any issues resolved almost straight away!
- 5/5
Although we didn’t use them, the room was well equipped with a small electric stove, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, and a kitchen sink. It would be an excellent option for a longer self‑catering stay, but for us it was just a one‑night stop before continuing on to DC. We hope to book a longer stay next time. The staff, caretaker, and reception/manager were all friendly and courteous, which added positively to the overall experience.
- 2/5
False advertisement. Our room looked NOTHING like what was in the photo. They must be using Ai to spruce up the rooms but trust me when I say the only window in the room was facing the back alleyway of another building. Don’t believe the hype of their photos. Also, be aware that their office closes at 6 pm. If we had arrived any later, we would have missed our timeframe to check in for our stay. Should I mention that there were random people sleeping in the hallway on our floor?
- 5/5
The room was comfortable and clean
- 5/5
The room vas very clean, spacious. Our host was very attentive. We enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back next time.
- 4/5
Room was clean but a bit hot at night. A fan would be great. Helpful to have been able to store the bags.
- 3/5
Location is everything, but other than that I would not recommend. Not clean, old, hardly any amenities.
- 4/5
A little tricky to check in (go into the building, pass the reception desk, and go to office number 2) and staff wasn’t in the office every time I needed them. Otherwise, the room was clean and as described and the location was perfect for my needs
- 4/5
Great location to get around NYC and great price. Would’ve liked to have more secure locks on the doors. Also more towels on the room when 3 people are staying. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Quiet place
- 5/5
The room is very comfortable and warm, clean space with everything you need, no complaints or negative experiences while I had my instance in place, all right.
- 5/5
Awesome New York apartment vibe to give you easy access to upper and lower Manhattan. Next door to a cute donut shop with great coffee. Close to Subway for easy access to travel the city. The hotel was quiet, 3 blocks from the empire State building, and friendly staff. Would stay here again!
- 5/5
Room was clean.
- 5/5
Clean room & friendly staff
- 5/5
Thank you for being so accommodating. We enjoyed our time in the city and the room was perfect for our family.
- 3/5
It was a good budget friendly stay with a bigger group of people. Good location.
- 3/5
The rooms are convenient, however, there are no closets, or No places to put luggage to open. The bathroom sink has no shelf so there is no space to put any toiletries or cosmetics. It could be a-lot cleaner
- 5/5
Clean, friendly, easy to found
- 5/5
Great place for a couple of nights of visiting around downtown New York. Rooms are small and very basic but location is convenient
- 5/5
Super céntrico, cerca de todo lo turístico y líneas de tren
- 4/5
Es muy cómoda la habitación y las camas muy cómodas. Recomiendo este lugar.
- 5/5
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in NYC. This property was centrally located, very clean and the beds were comfortable. We will stay here again.
- 5/5
Great space for 6 people to be together.
- 5/5
It was a gorgeous room and very clean. I don't have any complaints. It was close to the subways and was secure and safe.
- 5/5
Love the location! It’s spacious for NYC and fit my family of 5 perfectly! I would definitely stay here again
- 5/5
Great location, super friendly staff. Not a lot of amenities, but it looks as advertised. Great for what we needed, which was an affordable place to fit a family of five.
- 4/5
Fiquei muito satisfeita.
- 3/5
Hotel bem localizado, mas atendimento, limpeza e comodidade bem ruim
- 3/5
- 3/5
Rooms very different oh photos to reality but was idea for our needs .The towels we were given on arrival didn’t smell clean.People were very helpful when I contacted with questions before .There is a coffee/ donut shop next door which was brilliant for getting coffees to have in morning before coming .It was very close to subway and about fifteen minutes walk from Times Square .
- 4/5
It was nice. We enjoyed our stay. We were surprised there were no top sheets on any of the beds. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay.
- 2/5
No heat, very hard beds and towels that smell like mould.
- 4/5
Io tornerei!!!
- 4/5
Everything is good
- 5/5
The building was in very good condition for being a historic landmark
- 1/5
This was a very disappointing stay . The building that the room is located in is very busy noisy and dirty . Terrible place to stay
- 1/5
The room was filthy and unpleasant. Pillows were stained yellow, the bathroom lacked a fan and had black mold in the bathtub, and several cabinets were broken. Many areas were simply unacceptable in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. After discovering these issues, I contacted Expedia to report the situation, and they reached out to the host. When I went to the “office” to follow up, it was dark, and it seemed like they were deliberately avoiding me. We ultimately left and booked a different hotel instead. I strongly discourage anyone from staying at this property.
- 4/5
It was okay. Very affordable. A little weird that they didn’t have staff and you had to call a phone number. But it was clean and had what we needed. Great location. Mattress needs to be up graded.
- 5/5
La vista que nos toco fue hermosa y el cuarto muy acogedor, las cosas que incluía la habitación fueron muy útiles
- 3/5
Only hotel with enough beds for family not what it was going to be
- 3/5
Ok!
- 1/5
The room I reserved was NOT what showed. It was a room for 5 NO SPACE within to get dress some of us had to sit down so there's can get ready. The beds & pillows worst ever. Overall I will NOT RECOMMEND
- 4/5
Good place to stay. It's near to all tourist destination. Highly suggested.
- 3/5
Near to central places. The stove didn’t work.
- 5/5
Good location
- 4/5
It's a great location. I wish it has more space but that's ok. When we tried to contact during our stay it was hard to reach them.
- 5/5
Easy to book, big enough, friendly staff.
- 5/5
Okay for downtown people
- 1/5
The beds were horrible. Way smaller than pictures showed. Noisey!!! No customer service
- 5/5
It is very clean and the location is excellent
- 3/5
The location of this property was awesome!! We were close to so many things. The pictures didn't look like the pictures, the bathroom had black spots on the ceiling, there was a hole in the wall and on the last night, a little mouse peeped his head out. We stuffed the hole toilet paper. Not what I wanted to see. When we got there, there was no AC set up, we ended up sleeping with the window open because we needed air. We later found the Window AC unit in the kitchen cabinet. The room did fit 6 people, but barely enough room for our luggage.
- 3/5
Smoke alarm very sensitive so even toast set it off. No control over heating so had to sleep with window open so very noisy
- 3/5
the place around the hotel was dirty and noisy
- 3/5
Although the unit we had is very small for 5 people. It is a good idea to have a foldable table and maybe 2 chairs at least also need an iron, wash towels and at least 2 hands towels.
- 5/5
~ I suggest calling management before checking in when they are not on site! So if you have any questions, call them or text them.
- 4/5
Affordable within walking distance to Times Square
- 3/5
Bathroom smelled like smoke the entire time - manager said it was prob from vents connected to other rooms. He was very nice, but no way to fix beyond Fabreeze, which didn't work more than 30/min at a time. No AC. Room was ~12x14 - beds nice. Love interior brick wall. We didn't cook there, but it had all we needed. Location was fantastic! NY at Christmas is amazing. Would we stay here again? 50/50 in a bind.
- 4/5
Perfect for a group in the city. The room was clean and came with a kitchen with all necessary pots, pans, and utensils for cooking. The area is close to many trains, stores, Times Square, and the Empire State, though it may get loud at times with the sounds of the city. Would recommend for a stay in the city with a group.
- 3/5
Its an old building so no central air or heat
- 5/5
We loved everything about our stay. We traveled with 2 of our teen children and everything was perfect! The location, the room, the staff…LOVED IT!!!! The lady in the office is so sweet and accommodating!!!
- 4/5
It was a convenient place
- 2/5
If you’re hoping for a hotel or AirBNB feel, this ain’t it. If you’re looking for a steal on a budget and have very low standards, you’ll be fine. You can’t beat the location. Walking distance to everything.
- 2/5
Cheap for 5 persons but be prepared. This is not a hotel with services which is not said in the page. Not daily cleaning or so
- 5/5
Location and room for the family! Walking distance to Penn Station which we used to get to Newark airport.
- 5/5
Excelente servicio y atención. Habitación limpia
- 2/5
NO HOUSEKEEPING, LIMITED TELEVISION, NO PHONE, JUST THE BEAR NECESSITIES. GOOD LOCATION IN MIDTOWN
- 5/5
Studio Plus has been a life saver for me! During the Pandemic I needed a place with all amenities and studio plus met my needs plus some! I was able to quarantine here in comfort. I highly recommend!
- 5/5
It was bare basics, which is all I need really, but a few niceties could make it really special. Also, the picture is deceiving...my room was way tinier with no windows...
- 3/5
The properties location was fantastic. Walking distance to many attractions and places of interest. Unfortunately it was the noisiest property I have ever stayed in. This studio was right next to steps that connected two buildings and whenever anyone used the steps it sounded like elephants stomping in the hallway. Studio plus staff didn’t seem to interested in finding alternate rooms given we were there for more than a week. It’s shame as location was great but ten nights with little sleep wasn’t pleasant
- 2/5
Windows to the skylight thus no natural light. Hope that towels were washed with some type of a detergent cause they didn't smell like it. Really hard to control the water temperature in the bath tub. There was a steep stair with a door at the top (after the elevator to the 4th floor) really hard to go down or climb up with luggage. Ventilation in the corridors very poor, it was like getting in the kitchen of a restaurant some days.
- 3/5
Check in time 4 pm terrible time!! People fly from all over the world into New York at all times of the day and the last thing they want is having to pay to have their luggage stored while waiting to get a key to their room.
- 4/5
it was cozy and perfect location to everything. only thing that wasnt good about this place was they control the heat for the whole building i couldnt turn it down or off when it was too hot in the room
- 3/5
Excellent location very comfortable bed otherwise basic but functional for a city break.
- 5/5
- 2/5
This property is more like a hostel than a hotel. A younger clientele, like the soccer team I saw checking in would probably like it fine. I however, being of an older woman, did not. I do not think a minimum of words for this review is appropriate, and NOT necessary.
- 4/5
The location was extremely walkable. However, I was not expecting an entire building of random sublets. I thought it was going to be of a B&B or hotel feel.
- 1/5
No tengo palabras para decir lo que pensamos.
- 4/5
Me gusto la ubicacion, la limpieza no es muy buena, y no hay muchos servicios, pero esta muy bien para pasar unos 3 dias
- 5/5
- 4/5
I did not like the view from the room. It face a boring courtyard. Then again.what can one expectfrom a cheap price in the city?
- 4/5
The Check-In time is late in the day. Couch and other things are very old.
- 4/5
- 3/5
Accueil très moyen. Aucun effort de communication.
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay - everything seemed to work very well.
- 3/5
Good but.. no parking. There was roaches.
- 4/5
- 1/5
Wow.. just stay away from this place. Not sure how they don't know about bleach... The bathroom was disgusting... Black mold everywhere. Centipede crawling around. Drain flies. No place to put your soap. Thankfully a shoe place next door so I could buy 5 dollar flip flops to wear as I showered. The floors were dirty. The doors were dirty. Just plain awful. The duvet cover smelled like body odor.. NOTHING like the pictures and your window looks into the center of the building.. a long drop down other peoples windows and a wall. If you get room 1006 run...
- 4/5
Check in was kind of a nightmare. Studio Plus is located in the back of building past another check in desk. There is no signage that says this. The staff at Studio Plus were nice enough but seemed unorganized and unprofessional. We arrived early, our room wasn’t ready, they instructed us to just leave our bags with them. There was no locked room or typical hotel check in. It was a small room that was being used as an office and we were very uncomfortable leaving our belongings. The gentlemen did not take our name or tag anything just simply left our bags sitting in this office with no guarantee they would be attended. Fortunately nothing was taken but it was a very uneasy feeling. Pros: Spacious Clean Location Accommodates 5 comfortably 2 showers Cons: Water takes a significant time to heat up in shower. Very low ceilings in the two upstairs bedrooms. Reception/check-in experience not great.
- 2/5
Better price than comps but cleanliness is very very disappointing.
- 4/5
Location is perfect, but it's abit of a squeeze for 5.
- 3/5
- 3/5
This place was ok. We had to listen to pipes or something of the nature bang up against the building at night. Really annoying. We thought it might be water pipes to the building, but never really figured it out. We were trying to save a little money compared to the hotels in the area, but we will definitely stay at a hotel next time.
- 4/5
Great located, Studio plus provided us a clean studio. One really bad point : the noise of the heating almost all night long...
- 3/5
Overall, it's a decent property. We didn't try using the kitchen, but it was in good condition. The biggest problem was only having one key for a room with multiple people, and we weren't allowed to leave the key at the front desk when leaving. If we were ever split up (which we were frequently) we had to arrange a meeting point to exchange the key.
- 5/5
Tv didn’t work. Easy to get to places. Maybe not charge for storing luggage.
- 1/5
The most awful, filthy smelly place. Very false adevertising nothing like the pictures on this site! No hot water had to run the taps 40 mins first. Baking hot unable to adjust heating or open window as kept sliding down. Doors all bashed in with filthy scratched paint work. Garbage bins right across from apartment door. Not spacious as appears on images crammed in like a sardine! Very noisy. That awful i actually sat and cried and thought i was in a scene from boys in the hood. I was actually frightened of opening the door. I was out everyday before 8am and back last thing as i simply could not stand the smell heat or filth in that god forsaken place! Never ever again!
- 2/5
We weren't allowed to get our room until exactly 4pm, the toilet handle kept falling off, the counters were taped together. Could not contact anyone because the only had certain hours and when you are travelling you aren't in the hotel at those hours. When checking out I waited in the office for about 5-8 ins before I got served because no one was there.
- 4/5
I liked that the furniture was not wood. I didn’t worry about bedbugs. Location was great for walking everywhere.. Never felt unsafe and I am 74 years old.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed my stay here. The staff were exceptional. The room had everything we needed and more. A lot of little home appliances that way you could eat in and save money on food. The beds and blankets were really comfortable as well. Definitely recommend this place.
- 4/5
Location is great, room was great. We stayed in room #15 so cannot comment on any of the other rooms. Corner room which was spacious with large windows all around. The bathroom needs to be updated, it was okay but could have been cleaner. The bedding also didn’t smell clean to us, we all noticed it seemed to feel slightly damp as well. As this room is on a very busy corner, with single glazed windows, it can get very noisy, even at night. WiFi was good. TV didn’t work, no signal.
- 2/5
1. No real hotel lobby - there's an office that opens at 9am so if you need to speak to someone before then, you can't. 2. They make you pay $5 for each bag if you want to leave your luggage after checking out (if you have a later flight like we did). 3. Only one elevator worked.
- 5/5
This apartment is in a great location, close to the Empire State Building. They were very friendly and were happy to give us clean towels halfway through the week we stayed there. I’d definitely stay here again!
- 3/5
Hallways are kinda creepy, as is the elevator. If you're only staying a day or 2, it works. I would not want to spend a week there, though!
- 3/5
Very close to Penn Station, old but our small room had been re-furnished, and clean. No outlook, just into a vacant space.
- 4/5
Room was perfect for my trip, went with a friend, located in midtown close to a lot of great tourist attractions and price was right
- 5/5
The room was adequate and had some kitchen use. The bathroom was private and larger than anticipated.
- 5/5
Studio Plus is basic accommodation but that was all we needed as we were out all day. It would benefit from some redecoration but would probably then be more expensive! It is ideally situated for exploring New York. Staff are friendly and helpful. Loads of hanging space and power points (great when 4 of you want to charge gadgets). All in all we were very satisfied.
- 5/5
We had a great stay at the apartments. They had everything as advertised. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was very handy to everything we needed. Would definitely stay again next time I’m in NY.
- 5/5
Perfect for staying in NCY for more than a few days. We could have breakfast and make lunches for our days out, saving money. It had everything you needed. Staff and security were present and friendly. It was very central and easy to walk most places. We have no complaints about our stay. And we would use them again when we return.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay. It was a girls trip and we decided to stay at a lower priced hotel and this really can't be beat for the price! Clean room overlooking the empire state building and city! We will definitely stay here again next time we're in town. And it's very centrally located in a safe area.
- 4/5
Convenient. Helpful staff for most part.
- 2/5
It's very smelly and noisy. The left takes forever if its working the only good thing is the location
- 5/5
We got off subway at Penn Station (Madison Square Garden) and walked 2 blocks to Studio Plus. Couldn't have been more convenient. Our room was equipped with everything we needed. I've already recommended to a coworker.
- 4/5
The room was small, but it was plenty for what I needed. The point of a vacation is not to just stay in your room, right? The room was clean, the location was great, just 3 blocks to the nearest subway. The bathroom was small, but adequate. The elevators were slow, but they were in the middle of being renovated, so that may change. Room was quiet, internet was fast. Price was very reasonable. Would definitely stay here again, and would definitely recommend.
- 4/5
for cleaning.
- 2/5
A complete scam. Filthy. Hidden charge of $60 makes this even more a ripoff. I’m in hotels 10 nights a month and this is one of the worst of all time. You need to request hand towels or washcloths. My towels had holes in them. The shower was a trickle. Look anywhere in this place and nothing but filth. Inch deep dust. Only one decrepit elevator working. I walked in several times with no security. I have pictures to prove it. Avoid this place at all costs. It’s so completely disgusting.
- 3/5
Decent place high price , no front desk, charging for everything, if you need to keep your luggage you have to pay for it , if you ship any thing to the address you are staying at you have to pay for it
- 2/5
Room was much smaller than the pictures depicted it to be. I had emailed and requested hand towels and a wash cloth beforehand, but they were not there when we checked in. The office is only open business hours Mon-Sat. There is no phone in the room. The elevators in this old building are unpredictable and really slow. Also for having to pay a $60 non-refundable cash only cleaning deposit, I would think we wouldn't have to take our own garbage to the trash room.
- 1/5
The hotel was in a great location, however the stay was not pleasant. I have used hotels.com many times and this has been the first time I had a negative experience. We arrived and they told us our room would be ready in 2 hours, so we left our luggage and came back about 2 and a half hours later. When we got back, we were told that the elevator was broken, so we needed to leave and come back in an hour. We were exhausted from traveling and had to leave for yet another hour just waiting. An hour later it was still not fixed and the employee reluctantly walked us all the way up to our room on the 11th floor. We had to take 11 flights of stairs carrying our luggage. We were there for 3 days, and the elevator was never fixed. Anytime we would come or go we had to walk up 11 flights of stairs. They were unable to accommodate us with anything on a lower floor, and were unapologetic about the situation. Although I understand these things happen, they did nothing to try to accommodate or make up for this inconvenience. The A/C in the room did not get below 75 degrees and was uncomfortable. The room was nothing as described and did not represent the photos shown on the site. It did not feel clean or sanitary. Overall, I was disappointed and uncomfortable with my stay here. They also charged us an additional $60 cleaning fee upfront but left a note in the room saying we were not to leave any trash in the room and needed to take it out ourselves. There were no trash cans.
- 3/5
A little bit noisy all night cause the traffic. Good price in NewYork.
- 2/5
Just rooms. The elevator was not working. The smell will disturb you.
- 3/5
The entry to the building and 'lobby' (janitor's closet / manager's office) was sub-standard. Elevators worked but slowly. The room was quite nice, updated and comfortable. Wifi worked well; TV partial. A reasonable compromise for the price.
- 3/5
Just a block from empire State. Excellent location but the rooms are small and price is high. Decent rooms.
- 1/5
Horrible experience as this is not a hotel, it's government elder compounds currently partially converted to lease options . Guests mix with elders, strangers, construction workers , and our 4 days stay was a horrible experience .
- 3/5
Great location and nice room. In an old building, hall way smelt terrible.
- 2/5
My stay was not terrible. It was a reasonably-priced room in a convenient location. I just wish the company would be more forthcoming in its marketing. You owe it to your customers to make clear that this is not a hotel, and to post the true price up front.
- 3/5
This hotel had fr
- 5/5
Since this is not a chain hotel, I was a bit worried about what I would find when we unlocked the door, but everything was great! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. I would stay here again as well as recommend it to anyone I know going to NYC and planning on staying in Manhattan.
- 3/5
The space was good and the staff responsive except that the shower drained incredibly slow, the water was not hot two of the days I was there and the shower was so "low flow" that it was literally hard to get your hair wet.
- 4/5
Very good location!
- 3/5
This is a studio apartment in a no-frills complex. It is well equipped, but certainly nothing fancy. The ambiance is poor (e.g. halls are smelly) but the apartment itself is fine if small and a bit run-down.
- 3/5
Cons: Walls paper thin, Bad nights sleep due to noise, Next door had very loud party until 3am, No cable TV, a little dated decor
- 4/5
Staff were very helpful and responded to requests in a short period. Two subway stations are nearby, so all of NYC is easily reached.

great location, was able to check-in early but not sure a great cleaning job was done prior. it was clear from all of the hair in the shower that the bathroom wasn't cleaned well, or at all. had some problems with the toilet continuing to run after flushing and there was construction going on to the building which made for a lot of noise throughout the day. the room was also a little chilly but there were heaters in the closet that warmed the room up pretty quickly. overall the room was nice and the beds were comfortable.

Will consider staying here again the next time I will be in NYC!!!

What the room lacked in amenities, it made up for in price and location. Walkable to time square and Macy's. If you are prepared with own facecloth, conditioner, coffee etc you will enjoy your stay! It's clean and beds comfortable. Basic but all you need to enjoy down town NYC

Once I was able to check in, they asked for me to pay a cleaning fee. I wouldn't have minded this if the apartment is was actually clean when I finally got into my room. Also, there was no tea, coffee, not even a small starter pack. The sponge that was on the sink was used and in desperate need of replacement. The shampoo that was provided was used and basically finished, no body wash or conditioner as provided. The fridge, while small in size, made you feel like you were sleeping next to a small aircraft at night. The water pressure in the shower was no existent, with the water just trickling out of the tap. Also the tiles in the bathroom were loose and dangerous to walk on. I reported this to the management team, and they sent someone the following day very early in the morning and woke me up.
