Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its convenient location near Times Square, friendly and helpful staff, and clean rooms. However, some guests find the rooms to be small and dark, with noise being a common complaint. The breakfast is often described as minimal or poor.
- Convenient location near Times Square
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Small, dark rooms
- Noise from hallways and street

Great staff and property, local to Times Square
- 4/5
An overall great experience. Room was somewhat on the small side and we had a shower door that wouldn’t shut all the way, but all in all a very nice place to stay with some strong food options in house
- 3/5
Location was good for shows. That's about it.
- 1/5
Well, I LOVED my first trip to New York. The hotel was certainly the least enjoyable bit of it, but I know I can spring for a clean 2 star hotel for 1/4 the price and do better than this scammy little property where you can tell the staff from top to bottom just have to learn to be stone faced to the complaints being brought to them (I certainly was not the only one complaining) You can do better, also. Note that this hotel is being marketed as luxury; I am very much hoping Expedia will shop this place as soon as possible.
- 4/5
The room was clean, but you can see that the overall age is there carpets seem like they’re getting older same for the bed and bedding. For what I needed it for it was a solid stay staff a sanctuary is always terrific from dropping off a bag to the check-in and check out.
- 2/5
I would not recommend or return. Rundown. Small. Window with view of brick. Not free breakfast.
- 2/5
The room was not clean and everything was ripped and tattered
- 4/5
Carpets in the halls are somewhat worn. Elevators are very dark for some unknown reason. Room cleaning staff do an excellent job. Roof top restaurant is vibrant with very good food. The check in staff are friendly and professional. Unfortunately the included morning breakfasts are simply horrible beyond the coffee. But the location is absolutely fantastic, the rooms are nicely efficient, if small, and overall this is still an extremely good choice especially if you are seeing several Broadway shows. I would recommend the Sanctuary overall.
- 3/5
The lobby is very nice and stylish. Sheets were nice. Overall the place is Instagram fancy, has places to take some pictures, but a lot of the stuff is cheap and the execution is inconsistent. Our rooms window looked out into a gloomy stairwell and our walls were dirty and had been skipped in the renovation. Also you can hear everything from other rooms.
- 4/5
Nice hotel.
- 5/5
Good stuff
- 4/5
The room and property were extremely clean. Very good size room for New York City! Our room was quiet, clean and overall very comfortable. The staff were very professional and nice. The property is in the middle of everything Time Square and Broadway. The only area for improvement is the fact that no matter what you put the air conditioner on it was still too warm in the room. The thermostat would say it’s on 65 but we were hot during the night.
- 5/5
I was welcomed by the wonderful staff who was very attentive and helpful. My stay there was great! I even extended my stay an additional day! Special thank you to Jose who was most helpful with my booking and to Julia for her assistance and recommendation to a wonderful Thai Restaurant in the area. I will be returning again real soon. I highly recommend this place for a great getaway! Top Tier!!! Oh the the Haven Rooftop located conveniently within the hotel is great too!
- 5/5
Great restaurants on the roof of the hotel. A great place to meet up or to just chill out if you're by yourself. The room was a little on the small side, but the location more than made up for it.
- 5/5
Good quality pillows. Great location, good place
- 4/5
My experience was generally positive. But you get what you paid for. The price was good, the location great (two blocks from Times Square), but a fairly cramped room.
- 5/5
Excellent location, helpful, attentive staff, well appointed room, rooftop restaurants, vibe. Nothing
- 5/5
We stayed one night at the Sanctuary Hotel. It was very clean. I loved our room we had a view of 47th street. Refrigerator was well equipped with drinks. Lots of snacks and beverages for purchase. The bed was extremely comfy. We had lunch at the rooftop. Meal was good and service on point. We didn't get to dry the Sushi lab but plan to in the near future. We had theatre tickets at Ethel Barrymore and it was conveniently located 4min walk. We also ate dinner at Lagos which was in 4min walking distance. Can't forget to mention that Time Square was literally down the block. We had an amazing weekend in NYC.
- 5/5
The employees at the hotel were professional, Helpful and very nice.
- 5/5
The location is perfect near time square and all main streets and locations.
- 4/5
Really feels like a sanctuary from the hassle of NY . Just by Times Square but still relaxing and great position . Friendly staff and handy rooftop restaurants All good

- 3/5
Very dark ambiance hotel, roof top was cool. Staff helpful
- 4.5/5
The staff were wonderful - which is always the hallmark of a hotel run with care. The bed - including the pillows and comforter were wonderfully comfortable - and again reflected that someone genuinely cared that guests enjoy their experience there. Loved that we could both use the sink at the same time and not have to jockey for position.

All is good. I like it because they always clean your room everyday and checking on you

Breakfast was disappointing - we ate there the first morning but not after.
- 5/5
It really is a sanctuary from the city. Super cozy small room with insanely comfy duvets. I could sleep in that bed forever. Shower was phenomenal with the water pressure. Everything you need and not noisy at all
- 5/5
Super friendly and helpful staff.
- 4/5
Great location and friendly staff. Room was fine, but small. The location of my room was not ideal, on the 9th floor very close to the rooftop (“The Heaven”) restaurants. At night and early mornings, it was very noisy. Also my room was next to a supplies closet, more noise in the mornings.
- 4/5
Location and staff were amazing, the rooftop bar was also really cool. The bed was also incredibly comfortable. The room was small with almost no natural light.
- 5/5
Mystay at the Sanctuary Hotel New York was excellent. The hotel was comfortable, chic, and very clean, with a great staff that made the experience even better. The location is perfect for staying in NYC, and the overall ambience was amazing. Definitely looking forward to staying there again!
- 5/5
Great location.

I enjoyed the rooftop restaurant as well.

The location was perfect. Right next to a church, Times Square, Train Station, Theater (Radio City up the block), lots of places to eat. The room had no view (a wall) and rug had a hole in it.

Small but clean. Breakfast okay
- 1/5
We got charged $50 the worst breakfast didnt even touch, in fact I would like a credit for this, how can you endorse this hotel
- 4.5/5
Perfect location for Broadway. Staff was fantastic, attentive, kind and accommodating. Will definitely go back
- 4/5
Our room (on the 8th floor at the back) was a cool, quiet sanctuary from the bustling NYC streets. Staff was very helpful, location was perfect for theatre and museums. Onsite restaurants were disappointing so we ate breakfast out.
- 5/5
The staff at the front door, front desk, and cleaning staff were helpful, friendly, and were great at their jobs. The room was somewhat small, but I expected that, and since we just had 2 people in the room, it was sufficient for us. It was very clean, and for us, clean is better than large. I saw something when I reserved the room that made me think there was free breakfast. However, there is a $25 credit for a breakfast buffet that costs $25. Basically, one person got a free breakfast. We went to breakfast one morning and were happy with it. Breakfast is in the rooftop restaurant and the lighting was wonderful. However, we saved money the other mornings by getting bagels from a nearby street vendor. The location of this hotel is great if you want to go to the theater. We loved being able to walk to dinner and a show. It was also easy to get on the subway and go anywhere in the city. I was very happy with my stay and would stay there again!
- 5/5
Everything was great from check-in until we left. Exactly as expected.
- 4/5
As others are saying there was an additional fee when we arrived for amenities. The additional fee included a $25 credit per day for food at any of their restaurants. However, for anyone sensitive to smells, there is a strong fragrance as you enter and head down the hall towards the back elevator. The hallway to our room only had a strong smell 1/3 days so it wasn’t too bad and the rooms didn’t have the smell.
- 2/5
.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, great food!
- 3/5
Was a really cute hotel. Staff were all friendly. Room was adorable and clean...BUT...for some reason the room had an overpowering smell of body odor that came in through the vents. That was the only downside.
- 5/5
Clean, and provided everything you need. The shower in the room was amazing, lots of hot water., not always the case in hotels. The staff was helpful, courteous, helpful and friendly. Booked three rooms for family and everyone had the same consensus!
- 5/5
As per usual the room was small but we didn’t mind, for New York City this small room felt peaceful and comfortable. The whole vibe at the hotel is zen and for as long as I been coming to the city it’s the best hotel we have ever stayed at all around. The staff was nice and friendly, very helpful and the food was delicious. I wish we could have stayed there longer this last time but it was a short trip. The hotel is an oasis of peace in the rushing city.
- 5/5
Beautiful property, great amenities, near subway stops! Staff is very helpful. Super clean.
- 5/5
Breakfast was free and that was very good.
- 5/5
All round a very good stay
- 5/5
The room was neat. The bed was comfortable. The staff was so helpful. The subway stations were close and being right next to time square provided great access to everything you want to see when you go to New York for the first time. They even gave us some Champaign for our one year anniversary. The hotel gave a nice quiet place to rest in the busy city.
- 2/5
Should have really double checked the definition of view of the courtyard - couldn’t stay - lesson learned
- 2/5
This clearly used to be and may possible still be a sex hotel
- 5/5
Had a good stay at this property!

Had a good stay at this property !
- 5/5
I had purchased a glass as a souvenir and it seemed to have either gotten thrown away for some reason so I was slightly irritated about that but it’s only a glass. The staff were very friendly and we appreciated that. Would go back for sure.
- 5/5
Room lovely! Staff very helpful and attentive. Would definitely stay again
- 3/5
Just okay
- 5/5
Great hotel I can only recommend it. Stuff is very helpful and very friendly. Rooms are clean and get cleaned daily if requested (door hanger). The location of the hotel is the best because it’s directly on timessquare and everything else can be reached by walking or subway. There is a rooftop bar with great coctails too. We went 4 Nights and we enjoyed it.
- 4/5
Nice place to stay
- 5/5
Friendly, helpful staff. Rooftop is a great spot to have a cocktail and good food.
- 4/5

- 5/5
The Sushi lab is amazing, the bed was a dream to sleep on and the room was cozy to stay in.
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful. If you are visotong the theater district/Times Square area this is the place to stay.
- 2/5
Tiny, dim lighted room. Toilet with no space next to it. Your body will hit the sidewalls if you sit on the toilet. Don’t know how they clean the place. A curtain for bathroom wall and door. A really limited dinky space. No idea how this place is ranked as it is.
- 4/5
Great location, rooms are okay . Not that nice but not bad, old carpets. They put us by the elevator and people are noisy.
- 5/5
None
- 2/5
We stayed here as an emergency, last minute booking because our flight was canceled and the rooms we stayed in were on the street side and SUPER NOISY!! Do not stay in one of those if you like rest because you won’t get it. Construction directly across the street went on all night long and there was, clearly, no thick our soundproof glass in the windows. The street noise was also horrible. We were in rooms 312 and 412 so beware. Other than no sleep, the staff were very nice and helpful. Room was tiny and a little dated but clean and we were able to store our bags there after we checked out.
- 5/5
Everything smelled great. The staff was super nice. Especially Ben.
- 4/5
The location was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful. My only wish is that the room had a proper door between the bathroom and the sleeping area. There is a curtain between the sink/shower and the main room. It is very tight quarters.
- 5/5
Pleasant stay, welcoming and polite staff, our room was beautiful.
- 5/5
Room was very nice. The staff was very helpful. Always at the door to help. Excellent location
- 5/5
The sanctuary hotel is perfectly located in time square as it is conveniently located near all attractions. The staff is very accommodating and the hotel is clean, comfortable and very quant.
- 5/5
We loved our stay!
- 3/5
Clean room, close to all the shops
- 5/5
Staff is so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Some of the best hotel service!
- 5/5
Location is amazing! Such a cute place to stay too!
- 5/5
Wonderful location near Times Square, theaters, restaurants. Quiet location. The room was small, but not as small as many prestigious New York hotels. Very comfortable bed.
- 5/5
This hotel is a quaint boutique hotel in a great location. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean only complaint I had was with the pillows. However, I have a bad neck and am very picky about pillows. Wonderful stay!
- 5/5
Great little b
- 5/5
Staff had a great attitude and was very helpful. Ambiance and location of hotel was perfect. Room was clean. I'll definitely stay here again and recommend.
- 5/5
Amazing , unique hotel . Great customer service
- 4/5
Comfortable and clean and super convenient to Times Square and broadway shows! Only downside was no coffee maker in the room-room service or lobby was to be used. I would stay there again without hesitation.
- 5/5
Absolutely adorable hotel love everyone about it
- 1/5
The room wasn’t as big as pictured and I got charged an additional 250 that night !! It Was very noisy I went through so much to get checked in I didn’t even bother to complain just asked about the room and they said that was it everything was small !!! I wanna say it was a king sized bed night shift wasn’t as helpful as the morning !!!
- 5/5
Everything
- 5/5
Great location, very tight room but it has everything you need!
- 5/5
The proximity to broadway and the room design
- 5/5
The room was spotless clean and comfortable. It was also nice and peaceful. The staff at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. The bellhop was awesome and welcoming!! The roof top restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. We will definitely consider staying there in the future.
- 5/5
Breakfast was great, room was clean, staff was absolutely amazing!
- 5/5
Well located, clean room, friendly staff.
- 4/5
Loved the shower
- 5/5
Great super clean room. Extremely responsive staff, great breakfast offerings.
- 3/5
Everything was ok for the price.
- 5/5
Everyone is very welcoming! Great location!!
- 3/5
The hotel itself is nice with many accomodations for NYC. It's very affordable, right in time square. nice restaurants & bars. Great ambience and staff. My only complaint would be that, being there in the winter, The water took forever to get even lukewarm. The toilet is in its own little section with a door and it was absolutely freezing. You had to leave the door open if you wanted to even sit on the toilet. You better be with somebody you're very comfortable around because you cannot be in the toilet room without the door being open. the coldness came through the window almost like a fan. It was absolutely freezing in that room & I'm usually a warm person!
- 5/5
We stayed here to celebrate my birthday and had a beautiful experience. The hotel was very clean, with gorgeous modern, upscale decor throughout. The location is unbeatable - only steps from Times Square. What truly stood out was the staff: everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely courteous. I would definitely come back and highly recommend it for a special occasion or NYC getaway.
- 3/5
We got an incorrect charge due to an employee error. The front desk staff was chaotic and not professional.
- 5/5
Check in was easy. Staff very friendly. Room was clean. Location of hotel perfect for our plans.
- 5/5
Wonderful experience.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel & convenient to Broadway
- 5/5
The location in the rooftop restaurant was very nice and made up for the food. We decided to forgot the $25 voucher and had a fantastic breakfast at the Carnegie Diner on the corner. The food was fresh with plenty of choices and at a great price.
- 4/5
The fee that gave us $25 a day food credit would’ve been worth it if the breakfast was good. We’ve had better complimentary breakfast at smaller hotels. We would still recommend this hotel but hit up the Carnegie Diner at the corner instead.
- 4/5
Yes
- 5/5
I appreciated the safety features, staff was great, and loved the rooftop bar
- 4/5
Staff was extremely friendly, bed clean and very comfortable.
- 5/5
Nice room
- 5/5
Staff was nice. We arrived very late due to flight delay and Josh the doorman greeted and helped us with our bags, like it was the middle of the day. It was a warm welcome, after a long day and during a very frigid, late night. Room was nice and hotel was close to everything. Recommend walking a couple blocks to catch ubers, as the street sometimes closes and is one way. Would definitely stay again...want to try the Haven next time!
- 5/5
Room was clean, staff was great, breakfast wasn’t all that great but not bad. I would definitely stay there again
- 4/5
Artived 10a, asked if we could check.im b4 3p, they said they would call but never did. No one was rude but one got the sense they didn’t care. No big deal.but not 4* hotel service.
- 4/5
Overall, we liked our stay here. Excellent location for our itinerary! We were able to walk to everything we needed. Bed, bedding and towels were very comfortable! Housekeeping came daily and I loved having clean sheets every day. Room was slightly small even for NYC standards. For a 4-star hotel, the hair dryer is the worst I've ever used at a hotel; definitely need to upgrade. We also requested extra towels several times but never received them. Each day when housekeeping came they only left one washcloth for two people staying in the room. Overall it was a good value and we would stay here again.
- 5/5
There were limited offerings for breakfast, out of items and limited service available to guide guests.
- 5/5
This was the second time we stayed and plan to make this a yearly trip. Staff was friendly, room was clean, location to time square was perfect.
- 5/5
cute hotel! Friendly staff at front counter, inviting lobby with free coffee and water all day. We really enjoyed our stay!
- 1/5
Loud. But worse is heat vent blows directly in your face all night constantly waking you up! Room 205. That’s not necessary, change direction of air fins to point away!
- 5/5
We were greeted before we entered the hotel. The doormen greeted us & took our luggage. The front desk offered us coffee and water. They escorted us to our room and explained everything about the hotel. It was an amazing experience. The hotel was in a great location too!
- 5/5
Great location very clean and great staff

I was also impressed by the 25.00 extra credit toward food and drink, and the Rooftop Restaurant staff, who also came out singing Happy Birthday to me with a glass of champagne. I will DEFINITELY be back; thank you, Sanctuary Staff, for making my special day even more SPECIAL. a VERY SPECIAL and REFRESHING surprise in the middle of all the Holiday Hustle and Bustle, that staff can still represent and deliver genuine joy at a usually-stressful time for everyone. <3
- 4/5
Lobby is kept to hot. Overall good experience
- 5/5
Although very crowded due to time of year, the staff were friendly and super helpful! We loved the rooftop restaurant, the rooms were lovely. Although the bathrooms being closed with a curtain was a little strange it was still very cozy and comfortable!
- 1/5
I had reserved a room with 2 beds. Only 1 bed in room. Unacceptable!
- 5/5
Hotel very pleasant and accommodating
- 5/5
NYC… the have. Roof top breakfast was nice and super convenient and peaceful in the big city.
- 1/5
Impossible to get room service, can't use the "credit" you're given for food, breakfast buffet seems to be $50 for the most basic, Costco-like foods, staff lies over and over, constantly, all the time, to cover their mistakes, Can't get a bottle opener even, when most items in the mini bar require one - ask and it will take hours and you will get massive attitude for this and be literally stared at while you use it to open a water for your sick child, then have it snatched back and taken away. Just one of the many, many, many ways we were treated like trash the entire stay. Overpriced, pompous, with zero organization or customer care. A complete rip off. Would never set foot in there again. Ruined several days of our stay and caused our vacation to be stressful and a living hell for most of the time. We had no food, no drinks, no service, no care from staff. Oh yes we were also poisoned by an allergen in the food when it finally arrived after 4 hours, and having told the staff 15 times about the allergen. No one cared at all. Front desk staff speaks to you like you are nobody- complete condescension, coldness, and degradation with zero accountability. The worst of the worst. Pray that when you arrive you can even get into your room - if the key they give you doesn't work, that will be a 30 minute ordeal that they can't solve. Then to punish you, they will put you in a room resembling a dark cell facing a brick wall, rather than the one with a view you were supposed to have.
- 5/5
I don’t want to leave a great review because I don’t want this place to get big. But this was the best place me and my wife have stayed in New York so far. Everything about this place was great. The staff was also amazing and very helpful. Would recommend a million times over!
- 5/5
Room was perfect size for 1 or 2 people. Bed was very comfortable. Great shower. I ate at all three restaurants and enjoyed them all. Side note, if you go to Haven roof top restaurant, wear a heavy sweater :)
- 5/5
Great location for going to Broadway shows. Hotel is a ‘sanctuary’ after being out in the city all day. Staff very professional, helpful. Room was well appointed. They’re small but that’s NY!
- 5/5
Super convenient location and staff was fantastic!! Dinner at Haven was Delicious too!!
- 2/5
Room was out dated for price paid. It’s 2025 upgrade to smart tvs annd include breakfast not a credit. Also who puts a bar on the 6th floor where people are trying to sleep. Check-in staff was nice and friendly.
- 5/5
Staff, location, and service all excellent
- 4/5
Great staff everywhere. Small but clean room and plenty of space for luggage, etc. The lobby was a bit dark for my taste but not a game changer. Breakfast “buffet” fairly sparse, and at least the morning we ate there, not the A-team cooking staff. Plenty of other nearby options for breakfast. Out first stay here and we Would definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
The hotel was well-maintained, and the room was small but comfortable. But it was very expensive, and worse, there was construction across the street -- literal jack-hammering -- that went on each night until 4AM. Not the fault of the hotel, but short of an apology from one staff member, nothing was offered as any sort of solution to or recognition of the issue. Both windows did not close completely, which no doubt contributed to the noise levels in the room, but also allowed water in when it rained.
- 5/5
We had a great stay at the Santuary. The staff worked hard to ensure that patrons were satisfied. I would definitely stay here again. For those looking for a peaceful night sleep, do not book a street view. The staff forewarned us and offered alternate rooms. We decided to stick with the street view but it did get noisy at night.
- 5/5
Staff was great, rooms were clean, great location
- 5/5
Did not eat breakfast.
- 5/5
The room was perfectly clean and very comfy. The staff was outstanding. The food in the restaurant was great. The parking was easy. We loved the overall feel of the hotel, as well. Very zen.
- 5/5
Great location. Friendly staff. Small but that’s NY. Cool bar with good drinks. Would stay again.
- 4/5
Great location and comfortable room. AWESOME shower and water pressure. The asian theme was interesting.
- 5/5
Good price, clean room, friendly staff.
- 5/5
It was won
- 4/5
Rooms were clean. Staff was corteous. Not much privacy from rooms to bathroom and a bit noisy in hall and resturant abive us which waa in 5th floor.
- 5/5
The Staff at the reception Jose was very polite and courteous. Highly recommended. If ever you want to go to the hotel contact him. The room was small but oki for a solo stay. The breakfast was good and the location is superb. If you want to stay near Times square its the perfect location.
- 5/5
Room was nice. Good options for eating and drinking on site. Never crowded in lobby.
- 5/5
Easy as always
- 4/5
Great
- 5/5
Small but modern and spotless
- 5/5
Excellent staff. Room was spotless!
- 5/5
Had an amazing visit! Great location, hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Great experience all around! Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The staff was incredible! So nice and attentive! The rooms and house keeping were great as well! Our room was taken care of daily and replenished bedding and towels anytime we needed. The hotel restaurants we are also great. Would 100% stay here again!
- 5/5
Comfortable sleeping and central location!
- 4/5
Staff were great, room was clean and comfy. Room was okay except the air was loud when running, and the shower was only separated from the bed by a curtain, and the light for the powder room was also the shower llight (not good if you are sharing a room)
- 1/5
Worst ever
- 5/5
Perfect location !! incredible staff!!!
- 4/5
hotel was clean and tidy. Front Desk particularly warm and friendly and hospitable. Hotel was a bit loud/noisy — could hear everything in hallways, lobby, neighborhood, etc.
- 5/5
The hotel is beautiful inside and staff are very friendly. It is easily accessible right next to Times Square and the rooftop bar and restaurant is too cute with an obstructed view of Times Square. If you are wanting to go to New York and stay in a very convenient hotel, this is the one! Highly recommend. They also give you a $35 voucher to use in the rooftop bar and restaurant which is always great
- 5/5
My wife and I were spending a quick night in NYC as part of our honeymoon. The staff was just as excited for us; and after check-in they gave us a bottle of sparkling wine on the house. The room itself was very spacious, the set up was great, and the bed was the comfiest bed my wife and I have ever slept on in a hotel. My wife has already requested that we stay here again on future NYC trips. Extremely LGBTQIA+ friendly and respectful!
- 5/5
Excellent customer service from the doorman who carried our luggage up the steps, to the friendly and efficient check in, to the concierge who made reservations for us at the rooftop bar due dinner. The room was spacious, shower water was nice and hot, and the bed was sooo comfortable! Highly recommend the Sanctuary Hotel!
- 5/5
We had a great stay!!
- 5/5
The staff was great, the hotel is right in the middle of time square and popular broadway shows. Walking distance to Hell’s Kitchen, Central Park, and all the major things we wanted to see. The room was nice and we would stay again for sure.
- 5/5
This hotel was perfect! No complaints at all.
- 4/5
Room was older. Her bed was a little bit lumpy.-
- 5/5
The staff was outstanding. While the hotel, itself, is not luxurious, the quality and quantity of staff made it a premium experience.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Safe, walkable location
- 5/5
A lovely boutique hotel in the center of Times Square. Rooftop bar is adorable. Staff were helpful and friendly. I would definitely come back again.

The staff couldn't be more professional and helpful. I have traveled a great deal and was completely impressed. My new go-to hotel in New York!
- 5/5
The front desk staff was great! Jose took very good care of us!
- 5/5
Great location totally worth it. It’s all you need cause you should be spending all your time in the city.
- 5/5
Property was nice and staff were great
- 4/5
The room was clean but on the smaller side. Very quiet & safe hotel.
- 5/5
This hotel is walking distance from most of the attractions we had tickets to. And the subways were right around the corner as well. Our room was different than the pictures advertised on the website but it was still a nice room. Would recommend!
- 4/5
Negatives: Soft bed, small room without privacy if one person wants to take a shower without waking other up.
- 5/5
Excellent staff with superb service!
- 5/5
Top notch experience! Clean room, friendly staff.
- 4/5
Many of the rooms have no windows with any real daylight. That was a real surprise to me but then it’s NYC.
- 5/5
This was the perfect location for a theater weekend. Much nicer (and quieter) than the larger hotels near Times Square.
- 4/5
Really friendly staff. VERY DARK hotel though. Lots of dark wood, low lights. Also, windows seemed thin. Noise from outside was much noisier than other hotels in NYC.
- 5/5
It’s so close to everything! We will back!
- 4/5
Some in our party wanted a better view of the city. Some rooms get noise from the activity in the area.
- 5/5
Great location. The check in was smooth and the girl was an absolute delight.
- 2/5
Pictures look way better than the actual hotel.
- 5/5
Staff was very polite and accommodating. The location is superb, less than a minute away from the subway as well as Times Square.
- 5/5
Breakfast was minimal with bagels, toast, cereal, tea and coffee. Continental usually includes waffles and such. Staff was very accommodating with holding our bags the day we were leaving. This hotel is 1/2 block from Times Square and 3 blocks from the subway. Excellent location. Would stay here again.
- 4/5
Good price and location at this hidden gem. Just a bit of a heads-up there are a dozen or so steps that one must negotiate with your luggage at the front entrance.
- 5/5
Shower was amazing
- 5/5
We had a great time at The Sanctuary! The sushi restaurant was also fantastic. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
We enjoyed the room, it was nicely decorated and had all we needed. The hotel was nice as well as the staff.
- 4/5
The staff was amazing! The hotel is beautiful & comfortable! Location is perfect! The hotel is located just a half block from the red bleachers of Times Square & there were subway stations on each corner of the block! The only thing that was a problem is that our phone charger plugs would not work in most of the room outlets, our plugs only worked in 2 of the outlets, we never did figure out why as the outlets were checked by maintenance & shown they were active. So maybe just check on that to see what plugs do work in those outlets. Also, if you are a light sleeper, bring a noise machine as the hotel is so close to Times Square that noise is inevitable. Our noise machine was enough to drown out the noise & we slept very well every night, plus the beds & pillows are super comfy!
- 4/5
Our king room was perfect with the exception of our mini fridge did not work. Also the parking situation is dismal. The parking across the street was $80/night so they recommended another parking garage that was several blocks away with no way to transfer our luggage. Graciously 2 of the guys on staff, JD and another young man (I forgot his name) assisted us because we weren't allowed to use a luggage rack off the premises. Both of those fellas deserve a raise. With those exceptions, overall we really enjoyed our stay with Sanctuary.
- 4/5
Perfecta ubicación, la habitación muy cómoda, sin embargo el colchón estaba en muy malas condiciones.
- 5/5
My husband and I loved this hotel. The staff location and restaurants were amazing!
- 5/5
Great service. AC was a little loud. Bed was very comfortable. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
Rooms can be small however they are very clean, comfortable cozy. The staff is great. The location is very convenient as well.
- 3/5
The building is older and not completely kept up. The room was small but clean the breakfast was not much, but it was included.
- 4/5
Not like photo’s at all for appearance of outside of hotel. Very dark inside. Room was very damp and pillows were so musty I had them changed. The breakfast consists of cheap, bulk industrial quality soggy, doughy bagels, croissants and danish. All poor quality. Tiny blended yogurts, a thin cheap orange juice and awful coffee. Two buy in bulk cereals and over ripe bananas.
- 5/5
Cons: Rooms are not big, but totally fine, and your view might be a brick wall... very NY. Overall: Very Good
- 4/5
Very nice staff
- 4/5
Great proximity, responsive friendly service , very walkable and easy to walk to the theater and dinner.
- 5/5
Great area to find things to do. Staff was very polite.
- 4/5
Very helpful staff, convenient location
- 5/5
Very dark chic Asian fusion style hotel. My deluxe king room was beautiful, updated, clean and had 2 bath robes and a beverage fridge with mini bar. Haven rooftop bar and chemistry room had great happy hour specials. Location right in the heart of the theater district! Would definitely return!!
- 5/5
Quiet, beautiful stay with the most welcoming staff!! We will definitely be staying at Sanctuary Hotel again!!
- 4/5
1. Small rooms and the pillows smelled a little like body odor, and this could happen anywhere so I only blame myself as I was too tired to swap them out . 2. Breakfast had only high carbohydrate sugary things such as baked goods and cereals, and absolutely no hot foods or proteins like at least oat meal nor hard boiled eggs.
- 5/5
Nice hotel, great ambiance.
- 4/5
Amazing kind staff, outdated rooms and worn down. As you know this location is near time square so traffic is bad and it’s a little loud but over nice hotel they just need major renovations.
- 5/5
Good value compared to the price of nearby hotels. Very friendly and accommodating staff!
- 5/5
Its fine close to theaters
- 4/5
Cute boutique hotel - very convenient. Don't expect a ton of room in your room. Very compact, but very comfortable and the staff was amazing
- 5/5
Overall, the stay was excellent. The location was perfect. Easy access to all the sights and shows. The "free" breakfast was horrible. There was no food!! Just croissants and bread. I masked for a fork and was told they didn't have forks. I complained to management but didn't see any improvement.
- 5/5
Everything perfect Carolina was great !
- 5/5
What a lovely hotel with incredible staff. We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Breakfast was continental, but very good options. Location was great and close to everything. We had 3 rooms and everyone enjoyed their stay. This hotel is a great find! We will definitely go back again.
- 5/5
Very enjoyable stay. Great location and staff very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Top notch service. Beautiful room! Definitely recommend.
- 3/5
Public areas attractive and an adequate breakfast. My “Superior Queen” room was very small and claustrophobic. Only window facing an extremely dark airshaft masquerading as an “inner courtyard”. Will not return.
- 5/5
Nothing of note that I did not like. The beds are super comfortable but a little low for the older adult.
- 3/5
Really loud air conditioner in the room, kept waking me up every time it came on. Housekeeping kept interrupting a business call, even after I told them I’d be checking out at 12 pm.
- 4/5
Room was good for one
- 5/5
Very good location, clean and well staffed.
- 5/5
Love my stay here very clean and everyone was polite.
- 4/5
Location near broadway shows can’t be beat. Hotel was quirky and fun. Only knock was the dining options on property were a little disappointing. In may the roof bar was still basically enclosed by awnings and had no view (and the continental breakfast was almost comically sparse)
- 4/5
I really didn't like how small the rooms are
- 5/5
Great location close to Broadway, Times Square, great dining and shopping. Roof top bar and restaurant was nice. Comfortable bed and excellent shower
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Staff was friendly. I hate that the outside had scaffolding on it at the time. I missed out on seeing the beauty of the front exterior of the hotel. The best thing about the hotel is the location. When coming to really experience shows and times square, it is a great location. The room was a good size for solo travel. I believe I would've even been fine in the room with a travel companion. I would recommend and return!
- 4/5
Was a little disappointed that our window was facing a brick wall in the room size was much smaller than expected. Otherwise, the property was great and the staff was amazing.
- 5/5
Beautiful experience
- 4/5
Staff was friendly

Such a great hotel and very friendly staff

Very nice
- 5/5
Great place to stay in the heart of New York
- 5/5
place was great and great location
- 5/5
Perfect location, hotel was very clean & the staff was great. Will definitely be back.
- 4/5
The location is convenient
- 5/5
Clean, lobby smelled smszing
- 1/5
Some of the issues is Hotels.com fault However; I hate when the staff states “well you booked on a third party app” when there is an issue. If your hotel is on the app, then treat that third party as a partner and take care of your customers.
- 3/5
Location good but very noisy
- 5/5
One of the best hotels I've ever experienced in NYC. The staff go above and beyond and the overall vibe is incredible. Can't recommend enough :)
- 5/5
This was my second time staying at this hotel.. and I will stay here every time! The location is very close to Times Square and very close to Broadway as well. The rooms are on the smaller side but are comfortable and the staff/service is top notch!
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay. The thermometer in the room malfunctioned the first night but the staff was amazing and moved us to two other rooms. After it was fixed we moved back. They waved $30 off the fee. My daughter fractured her foot before the trip and was in a wheelchair/scooter. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. It is a lovely hotel with an amazing staff and I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
From the front desk to the room service, the service was excellent. The room are so tasteful, elegant and comfortable! I will be back!

We enjoyed our stay at The Sanctuary New York. The lobby area is lovely. The rooms are small but nicely appointed. We visited Haven Rooftop for Brunch, and the food was very good. On our check-out day, the hotel held our bags for us so we could go out around the town. There was also a free continental breakfast offered, that I didn't know about when I booked the hotel and was pleasantly surprised to find out about it. We didn't use the feature but it was nice to know it was there. And the price was great for the location.
- 4/5
The rooms were cosy but perfect for my needs. The shower was fantastic and for make up lovers, the lighting in the bathroom was fantastic. Although the hotel could do with a refurb, it was clean and comfortable. I loved the self service tea, coffee station by the registration desk, which is great after a long day. Plus they made a lovely cup of British tea. The breakfast was OK, felt this was the area that could offer improvements, like local products but the bagels were fresh and delicious. I will definitely stay there again. Thank you to everyone.

Great central hotel
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Very friendly staff and great location
- 5/5
The hotel was great if you were going to be in and out, but it lacked the vibe it spoke of online.
- 5/5
Amazing service and location. Clean and modern. Staff is incredible.
- 5/5
Amazing location, great boutique style hotel. Small but adequate sized rooms. Breakfast basic but ok!
- 5/5
The staff were very polite and accommodating. Everything went smoothly. Highly recommend.
- 4/5
On the small side, but evryone very polite. Breakfast should have more options. Fresh fruits would be nice. But nice stay enjoyed Haven the rood top restaurant.
- 5/5
My stay at the hotel was unforgettable, with exceptional service, luxurious amenities, and a stunning view!
- 5/5
After your first stay, you will always come back; again and again.
- 5/5
Best NYC. Hotel we've found in 40 years of travel.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Exactly what I was looking for - A location that was walking distance to my work venue, and everything else I could possibly need...food, shopping, entertainment, etc.
- 5/5
We absolutely loved the location of Sanctuary, but even better was the staff! The hotel was lovely and very inviting. Rooms were typical NYC small and the bathroom configuration is a little odd when sharing a room with a friend, but we managed just fine on our quick trip. The beds and bedding are fabulous! The hotel staff is top notch - easily some of the best I've encountered in NYC and beyond - they went above and beyond to take care of any questions or concerns and appeared to genuinely love their job!
- 5/5
Perfect Hotel near everything!
- 5/5
The hotel was great & right in the middle of time square. Rooftop restaurant haven food was delicious as well!!!
- 5/5
Our second stay here - very personalized and friendly. Great location. Small rooms, as typical of midtown Manhattan. Plentiful hot water rainfall shower head. We had a good night’s sleep.
- 4/5
Location was great. We loved the Sushi restaurant on site.
- 5/5
A quick trip to see a couple of Broadway plays. Hotel was ideally located close to theatres, Times Square and shopping. Area had lots of people in it, so we felt secure at all time. The room (a queen) as SMALL, but clean and efficient. We didn't go to spend time in the room anyway. The only downside was the included breakfast was pretty disorganized and wasn't great.
- 5/5
Discovered this hotel on the Hotels.com site when my usual place was unavailable. Great find! Near theaters and restaurants. Free breakfast. Cool decor. I’ll be back.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Great location and unlike many hotels in nyc has friendly, welcoming staff with a service attitude. lobby very stylish. location for centre couldn't be better. roof top bar nice too. breakfast a bit basic but ok. Overall a great place
- 5/5
Other than beds or low to get in and out overall stay was great.
- 5/5
Such a unique place - sushi is incredible. Staff is wonderful. Rooms are very good, especially considering it is New York. Continental breakfast is included! Rooms came with robes, well stocked mini bar, great toiletries, comfortable beds. Blackout shades which was good because there was a really well lit office building across the street. Very convenient to Times Square, the Theater district and great restaurants. Minor issue - the windows are older so in January, when I went, there was cold air coming through the windows. However, the heating system and warm, comfy comforters on the bed took care of the cold. Highly recommend.
