Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews, with guests appreciating its prime location near the beach and friendly staff, but expressing concerns about cleanliness, maintenance, and the quality of breakfast. Some guests also mention issues with noise and thin walls.
- Great location near the beach
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Cleanliness and maintenance issues
- Poor quality breakfast

WiFi was terrible! Was there for business and had to leave to respond to emails. Never again

Great smaller property with good central location. Restaurant has great views and a good atmosphere. Room was a little smaller but I was there to enjoy the city so as a landing spot it was perfect size for my needs.

Every time I’ve visited Williamsburg I’ve stayed at the Penny, and it’s a wonderful stay each and every time, Super convenient, super quiet, friendly and helpful staff, and very clean and cute. It’s a gem!

Staff was very friendly, the artsy vibe and the interior was great Could have been closer to the subway
- 5/5
Clean. Nice staff.

Great stay at The Penny! Excellent location for exploring Williamsburg. Spacious room that was quiet - not a guarantee for many NY hotels!
- 5/5
A great little find. We only stayed one night, since we were just passing through New York on a 24 hour layover, but we loved it and want to stay there again. The place has a fun and funky boutique hotel vibe that we loved. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms very clean and well-appointed. There are a lot of nice touches; for example, in the hallway there's little shelves next to the door to your room for you to set things on (like a cup of their really good coffee, which is complimentary) while you get your room key from your pocket. It's in a nice part of the Williamsburg neighborhood and there are several bars and restaurants within walking distance (we liked The McCarren.) The hotel was only 18 minutes to Laguardia by Uber.

Beautiful hotel with stylish outfittings and a killer restaurant close to everything Williamsburg has to offer. We stayed for a wedding at Dobbin Street and were able to walk everywhere. Thanks for a great stay!
- 5/5
Super cute hotel! Very bright and clean , gorgeous lounge area on the roof with a phenomenal view. Will absolutely stay again when I come back
- 2/5
I had to sleep with my face next to the window all night. It was completely unacceptable to list a room that was that dirty. It was past 1am and I had no choice but to stay. I have not yet heard from management as a follow up, which is the least that could have been done.
- 5/5
Room was great, nicely set out considering the space. Only criticism I would have (very small thing) is that there is no decent counter/ledge space in the bathroom to put your toiletry bag.
- 5/5
Nice clean hotel perfect size rooms
- 5/5
Excellent staff - they were kind and helpful. Well appointed room - needs thought out ahead of time.
- 5/5
Easy to find, nice staff, adorable lobby, rooms, etc. Hotel bar and food was delicious and has a great view. Loved having pastry options and coffee in the mornings.
- 4/5
Basic clean safe lodging. Some confusion with the Expedia reservation at check in. It seemed they were aware of communication issues between the two systems. Resolved ok, but no apologies.... Our room was efficiently laid out. That is to say no wasted space. Or much room to stretch. Coffee, fridge, sink etc a nice touch Bathroom tight. TP holder was trying to leave the wall. Must have been noticed by the maids as the roll was swapped. But it remained needing attention. Water could have been hotter. Shower head was wonky. Towels were few, small, and not very plush. Bed linens were fresh and the bed made fresh during our week's stay. But unless one is under 5' tall you will need to untuck the bottom to cover your shoulders. ATC, we would probably return.

Staff was friendly and responsive. The walk to catch the L train was within 3-4 min. Room was quiet.
- 4/5
Room was fairly clean. Shower gel was like water, I had to use shampoo instead!
- 3/5
Location and roof top restaurant/bar. Views were amazing. The bed was screed into the wall so if you needed to get up in the night you had to climb over the other person to get out.

Clean roomStreet parking easy and fairly secure.

I like the theme and design of the lobby and rooms. The restaurant on the roof was good but a little expensive for what we got. Overall a good stay and in a good location to get around Brooklyn

Very kind and capable staff. Lovely restaurant and great amenities in the room. I restful atmosphere to have a good night’s sleep.
- 3/5
The room had a bit of a smell when I got in, not a huge deal, but noticeable. The hotel has a modern vibe, but it’s not for everyone. It was fine for a one night stay, but I don’t think it’s great value for money. The receptionists were really kind and helpful.
- 5/5
Only thing there aren’t king size beds. The young lady at check-out was very unfriendly unlike the staff that checked me in and helped me during my stay.
- 4/5
Really loved staying here. It's small, but it's NY it's what I expected. We had 3 people in our room. I will say the sleeper bed is not that comfortable, but it works. I would def stay here but maybe solo or with one other person. Great stay for the cost. It's away from touristy things but I loved it for how quiet it is at night. It's one of my favorite areas to stay in when I visit.
- 5/5
This space was so cozy and accommodating, while a close walk to Bedford Ave in Williamsburg. I was there for a weekend stay so there was plenty of street parking. The hotel ambiance was wonderful and the staff were all super nice. Also, the coffee in room was delicious and fresh.
- 5/5
The staff here are great. They are very professional and caring. The room is clean, quiet, and had great amenities, which is wonderful as I travel for work. The building overall is beautifully kept and the atmosphere inviting. Williamsburg has a lot to offer and the hotel is very well positioned for subway connections.
- 3/5
Everything was going well. Until the last night we had booked the restaurant for 18.30 for ourselves and 3 guests. To be turned away by a very rude man. Who I found out later was a chef. We fortunately found a much better restaurant. Also the pastries are very overpriced.
- 5/5
Great location, clean and comfortable room, quiet and no fuss. The penny is great for a quick work stay or a sweet romantic weekend getaway. I will be staying there again in the future. Honestly, i don't have much to complain about if at all. I had a room that was close to the elevator and was worried it would be noisy, but to my surprise i didn't hear anything all night.

Room was very clean, and housekeeping did an excellent job. Amenities were good, but not what I expected. The pictures online are way better than the actual place. During the week it was very dark on the block around the hotel, so feeling safe walking at night was difficult. However on Thursday night there was plenty of outside lighting and then it was improved. Don’t know why it wasn’t that way on the other nights. In addition, please note there is a daily resort fee automatically applied to your bill. The things charged under this fee are not things I could utilize so didn’t feel valued as a customer when it couldn’t be waived.

Very comfy bed, nice little space to stay in whilst exploring Brooklyn and Manhattan. Great rooftop restaurant/bar with amazing views. Windows are very noise cancelling but there wasn’t much noise anyway. Water leaked quite a lot through shower door seal. Rooftop restaurant is separate so can’t access at all times.
- 5/5
Great location! Close to lots and the train. Loved having the kitchenette area as well. Definitely would stay again
- 5/5
This was a lovely second visit to the hotel. The room is very functional and had everything I needed especially a quiet night’s sleep in an area of Brooklyn which is lively and varied! I will be back!
- 5/5
Perfect hotel for my quick stay. So affordable and really well decorated. plenty of space. Would highly recommend!
- 5/5
Adorable decor. Bed was sooo comfy! Room set up was great. Lobby is small and can get congested. Location is perfect for walking to the cool shops and restaurants in Williamsburg.

Lovely staff, comfortable rooms, good location Need to keep the room stocked with enough cups, plates, bowls, cutlery for the number of guests that you have. Initially, there were none, then they brought 1, then i had to request a 2nd.

The staff were lovely from the get go and the room was peaceful and quiet with lovely amenities when I arrived. Shut out to Michael at the front desk. Even their heating system was quiet for sleeping as I happily discovered. ElNico restaurant serves outstanding food in a gorgeous setting.

Beautiful hotel and gorgeous cozy room with a nice kitchenette. Walkable area.

- 5/5
Second time staying here, love the location, love how much light the rooms get, love the pour-over coffee set up. Some of the staff aren’t the most immediately pleasant, but this is not true across the board.
- 5/5
The room and hotel in general were very clean, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location was great. The cons are the rooms are very very small and the bathroom wall is all frosted glass and the door to the bathroom is a sliding glass door. So if bathroom privacy is important to you i would probably stay somewhere else.
- 5/5
Wonderful, convenient, comfortable
- 4/5
One night in Williamsburg, the Penny is smack in the middle of it. It has lots to offer and short walk to the Brooklyn Bowl for a show. Rooftop views nice, drinks and brunch were solid. Rooms are tight (small) but perfect for single traveler. Staff was nice and helpful with post midnight dining recommendations, i.e. Kellogg Diner and food trucks down the street. Would recommend!
- 4/5
Great place to stay for a quick trip. Staff was friendly and efficient. There are a few things about the way the room is configured that can be improved. The door to my bathroom hit a stopper on the ceiling when halfway open and it was very surprising, loud and hurt my hand from the impact. Also if you bend over to use the sink in the main living area be careful not to hit your head on the cabinet.

the room was really nice. the amenities and restaurant was amazing. most of the staff was excellent but we had an experience with a female staff member who overcharged us multiple times charging us over $350 in unecassary deposits. her attitude was hostile when asking for explanations for the charges. the other staff members fixed the charges with no issue but it was inconvenient to have that issue in the first place and then be met with a slightly agressive attitude when asked to fix it. other than that experience everything was amazing and we would come back for another stay.

Liked the comfort of the bed, but it would have been too small for two people. This was marketed as a queen sized bed but it was actually a full size bed. The bathroom had a nice shower and offered shampoo/conditioner/hand or body soap, which was nice. Sitting area not too comfy. Sit on the bed.

Bad experience. The fire alarm went off at 1am and stayed on until 9am. Clearly there was an issue, but when I asked if they could call the alarm company they said they could not, so I'm not sure what was going on. It was awful. Truly 1am to 9am. In the morning I spoke with the manager and asked if they could do something nice for us since it was such an awful night. He did not apologize and instead said: "I think you can understand that this isn't our fault." OK. But how about an apology for the experience, and any offer of something, like complimentary breakfast? Anything? I asked him if the hotel would be doing something for us and he said he would call me back. That was 5 days ago so I don't think I'm going to be getting a call. I get it that the hotel couldn't help the faulty fire alarm system, although... really nothing can be done between 1am and 9am? Isn't that kind of an emergency? And, I would at least expect some kindness and an apology. When we walked in upon arrival no one offered to help us with bags even though there were 3 staff members and no other guests in the lobby. I wouldn't have mentioned that normally-- it's not a huge deal-- but it does seem like there's an issue with hospitality at the hotel. Even an inexpensive motel helps with bags, and I imagine would apologize for an 8 hour alarm...? Poor hospitality, 8 hour fire alarm, no apology or gesture in response to what happened.
- 2.5/5
One day of coffee in the room, yoga mat and foam roller. Friendly staff. Noose/Robe art work was terrible and triggering, fire alarm system fluke on the last night 9/5/25 was intense and made for a rough morning, uncomfortable mattress, slippery bathroom floors.

The front desk service was excellent! The rooftop lounge staff was so sweet and the bed the comfiest! I love that there was a microwave, mini-fridge and pour over coffee with a refillable water carafe. The room was a bit dusty, so a deep cleaning could be useful but overall would definitely recommend. Loved the daily fruit and how close it was to the L train.

Our check-in experience was excellent, whimsical decor throughout, well-appointed room with kitchenette and sofa bed. Shower was amazing but you can hear everything that happens when someone is using the bathroom. It took a while to get the bedding for our fold out bed for my son but it was only a minor inconvenience. Overall, a great stay!

staff gave me a $15 freebie of snacks at the end of my visit staff was friendly. garage guy overcharged me $4 on a $46 fee, claimed it was because I didn't show the front desk my ticket, which was never stipulated anywhere. So I didn't give him a tip (which would have usually been at least $5) overall friendly, clean, relaxed, funky (good) feel to the place. decor was modern/fun. indeed was dog friendly, which was my reason for choosing the hotel.

This might have been my favorite hotel stay that I can recall. Definitely my favorite in NYC. Room is small but well-equipped and felt very cozy, with beautiful light and every amenity I could want includling pourover coffee, yoga mat, fascia roller, fresh fruit, lovely water carafe with fountain in hallway. The terrace? stunning. The restaurant on the roof? Absolutely out of this world with the views and some very nice cocktails. I did not eat there, but the menu looked good. I loved it here and will come back.

Cute hotel walking distance to almost everything. Very clean with friendly staff. Only issue was they were trying to be too modern, some of the room features were not easy to use (ahem, the lights and shower). I figured it out, but sometimes you just want to turn on the lights! Thanks for a comfortable stay.

When we arrived room smelled horrible...like stale bleach. Rooms are super small and not set up well. No where near enough flat surfaces. Water in shower was luke warm. There must be an issue with the water in the building or something it was that cool. The duesen duesen stuff is cool and so is the art work but the hotel is really sub par. Would not stay here again. Not worth it at all.

Only spent a night here but super compact clean with quirky decor which I loved. The little kitchenette was very convenient and shame I didn’t get to use it and try the coffee pot kettle. Had an ironing board a safe and bath robes and even an umbrella you could borrow/buy if you forgot yours.
- 5/5
Can’t wait to return
- 5/5
Awesome
- 5/5
Love the robe in the room. Coffee was lovely. Comfy and Funky decor.
- 5/5
The entire facility was very clean - including my room. The room was very functional and served me well. Great price point.
- 5/5
Rooms were clean, staff was very nice and informative. We loved this gem in Brooklyn
- 5/5
Room was great and the staff was so friendly and helpful, absolutely would go again!
- 3/5
No breakfast. Mediocre pillows. Stained furniture. Unpleasant ashtray odor in room. Ratty blanket. Yet felt safe and good location.
- 5/5
it was clean!
- 5/5
Place is great, staff was super friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Really cute hotel great rooftop bar and restaurant with a beautiful view. Staff all super friendly and overall just a nice spot. Pretty brief walk to L subway station too. Would definitely come back!
- 5/5
We had the best time at the Penny! Came for a little staycation with our cat and dog and were so pleased with choice! We read great reviews before coming and they were all true!! The customer service was excellent. Our room was cute and clean with good sunlight and nice dark curtains! We were allowed early checkin and late check out! They were so sweet to our dog and cat and the facilities are perfect! Rooftop was beautiful and pet friendly and the little dog patio is perfect for a little potty break! Will def be coming back!!
- 5/5
I'd rather not give an honest review because it will simply create more competition for me to secure a room in the future. But this wonderful hotel deserves it. The staff was at least 5-stars. The room was 5-stars. The coffee and pastries were 5-stars. And our experience overall was at least 5-stars. Thanks Penny Hotel. You have a new regular. Please - never change.
- 4/5
No breakfast Bed location for two people terrible
- 3/5
You can hear the highway, but it’s still quieter than staying at the Moxy on the other side of Williamsburg where the train overhead and hallway noise never let up. Since we have pets, they’ve put us in the back of the hotel both times, which definitely feels like a pattern. Parking is inconvenient and not attached to the building. And the destination fee — for what, exactly? It feels unnecessary and a little insulting, especially considering the location is just okay at best, basically under the BQE.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay at The Penny Williamsburg. The room was clean, quiet, bed was comfortable, room decor was beautiful, lovely shower, kitchenette was so useful for breakfast and snacks. We loved the complimentary oranges and the rooftop views. The hotel staff were pleasant. The location is close to subway stops, restaurants and shopping. Would stay here again.
- 5/5
super friendly and kind staff, clean rooms, really thoughtful amenities in the room (like silverware). stayed here a bunch of times and i know i will continue to.
- 1/5
Not worth the price
- 4/5
The room was well designed. You cannot control the heat/AC.thats why I dropped a star. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Not sure what the resort fee was for? Still wondering! Great location. The roof top restaurant serves Mexican food, delicious and gluten free. Would recommend this hotel.
- 3/5
It's an ok hotel, although, as an european, I found it overpriced and not really a 4*. This hotel is better suited for solo (young) travellers and people who don't have a lot of expectations from a 4* hotel. The bathroom was quite small and it had a mildew smell (poor ventilation). The window was not very good and you could hear outside noise all night.
- 5/5
very clean rooms and nice service.
- 5/5
We were cheering our daughter for the NY Marathon, and this was the perfect location! Close to the train stations, good chill neighborhoods and clean, functional and cozy rooms. The yoga mat and block were an added bonus to stretch out after all the walking!
- 5/5
The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and everyone was welcoming.
- 5/5
LITERALLY THE BEST HOTEL EVER omg i don’t even leave reviews normally but i have to. they thought of EVERYTHING. the staff are the best. rooms are great size. location perfect. i booked as a split stay in brooklyn/manhattan so only did a couple of nights and regretted it!!! wish i’d stayed the whole time.
- 5/5
Great room, friendly staff, great morning coffee
- 5/5
We had a great stay! Nice location and everything was clean! You even had fresh oranges in the room which was a nice touch!
- 5/5
Like everything about this Hotel. Front desk staff great, room very clean, like breakfast a lot Thank you for doing excellent service
- 5/5
clean room, kind staff, super new room
- 2/5
Dampen the audio around those doors, and I know you all have gotten this complaint prior. Please do something about it.
- 5/5
Courteous staff, room was clean
- 5/5
Somehow they made a room feel spacious in the Big City. Have not experienced this before!! And a Yoga Mat!!
- 5/5
Room was very well stocked and spotlessly cleaned. Staff was courteous and accommodating. Located near restaurants and bars. Nice rooftop bar. Rooms are small but its NY.
- 5/5
There are plenty of fantastic places to eat nearby — we’d recommend Four Horsemen and L’Industrie Pizzeria for dinner, and Apollo Bagels for breakfast! We stayed in a Queen Room, which was the perfect size for two people. We loved the vibe and the beds were super comfy and the room was quiet. Having a fridge, sink, and kettle was really useful, and we appreciated the complimentary in-room coffee too. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to check out the rooftop bar since we were so busy exploring the city, but it looked great. The staff were friendly and helpful — we had a few questions about our bill, and they resolved everything quickly. We did have a couple of small issues with the room upon arrival (some lights not working and the toilet door not closing properly), but it didn’t affect our stay overall and we let the staff know. We really enjoyed our time at The Penny and would happily stay again!
- 5/5
Love the Penny! It is the hotel we choose time and again when we visit our family in Williamsburg. Consistent quality, cleanliness, great food and beverage, and great service! Convenient and quiet location within walking distance of cafes and restaurants. We have stayed there many times and have never been disappointed. Love it!!
- 5/5
This is a terrific, affordable boutique spot in a great location! The room is very cozy and comfortable.
- 5/5
Hip, clean and in a great area. Excellent dining options nearby.
- 5/5
The Penny is the only place I stay when I visit Brooklyn. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the room is an excellent use of space. Whenever I arrive early, I am permitted to check in if the room is ready, if not they will store my luggage. The staff is friendly and helpful. Keep up the great work!
- 5/5
Amazing staff! Cozy room. On street parking was always open. Very nice bar and restaurant on the roof. Had a fantastic time and will be returning!!!
- 5/5
We very much enjoyed our stay! The room itself feels cozy and comfortable, a snug fit, no wasted space. Very thoughtful and intentional inclusions, from the oranges, silverware, fridge and yoga mat. The room was clean well furnished and cutely decorated the bathroom was modern and luxurious. Loved the scented lotion and body wash. Great amount of storage with the closet. Location was wonderful for us walkable to great restaurants for dinner and breakfast. We went primarily to get a tattoo at a nearby studio, so the proximity was perfect. Couldn’t recommend a better place for the price, we got a good deal online. Thanks, can’t wait to go back.
- 5/5
Penny was a great place to stay , It was clean , close by local attractions and the roof top bar is so convenient with spectacular views
- 4/5
Really loved this unique property! Parking at the nearby garage was good (and cheap for the city) however, I was misinformed at check in regarding the rooftop restaurant. They told me the kitchen was open until midnight but when I went up at 11 pm after I got back from a concert, my server said the kitchen was closed. So disappointed. Ended up having to order delivery.
- 3/5
This hotel has a lot of potential, aesthetically speaking. The art inside on the walls was fun to look at, the live plants were a nice touch. For the price (almost $1200) of two nights, it could have been nicer and staff could have been more friendly. Housekeeping forgot to leave us more toilet paper when they cleaned our room, that was annoying and inconvenient. The shower curtain in the bathroom was an old plastic one that didn’t provide any coverage. It was curling back on the sides because of how old and crispy it was. So the bathroom floor ended up getting super wet every time we showered. At check out, I asked if they sell the body wash, and they do, but it was sold out and also costs $55 (yikes). All of the bath products smell great, but the manager should consider lowering the price for guests. The bed was comfortable but the floor felt dirty. The light switch by the door was confusing and seemed to turn the power off to the entire room. Like I previously stated, the hotel could do better in a few areas for the sake of the guests who are already spending so much money to be in the city.
- 2/5
Room most of floor not covered with rug- just at bed- concrete ceiling, had an odor. The shower leaked out into the bathroom floor.
- 5/5
The pour over coffee set up in the rooms is genius and lovely
- 5/5
What a great hotel! And the rooftop bar has an amazing view of Manhattan
- 5/5
It was clean, quiet and the views from the greenhouse were impeccable.
- 5/5
Great hotel, cool rooms and good location
- 3/5
BUT… mine and my coworker’s showers both flooded the floor from bad sealing, and the bed in my room was so hard and uncomfortable my back hurts today. But that could just be a me thing!
- 5/5
We loved our stay. The staff was excellent and the room was clean and just what we needed. We had an issue with the AC and I called the front desk and they immediately had someone come to resolve it, though the AC just overall wasn’t super strong. Thankfully it was not summer in full swing so it was manageable. The window was damaged probably from a previous guest but other than that the room was stylish and chic. They held our bags for us and we appreciated their service. The lobby was very small though so it did feel a little crowded at times. The location was awesome, close to lots of food, bars, shops, and conveniently located near the subway. Overall, a solid 4.5/5 stars! I would definitely come back. The price was challenging but that seems like the standard NYC hotel cost these days, unfortunately.
- 5/5
Very comfortable, clean, and convenient
- 4/5
The Penny is well situated close to the subway, shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the dog friendly courtyard. The rooftop restaurant is also great.
- 5/5
Excellent boutique hotel in the heart of Williamsburg with easy subway access. Friendly and hospitable staff that made an excellent experience.

Although small, room was clean and staff were friendly.
- 5/5
Reception staff were so lovely - can’t fault this place 10/10.
- 5/5
Lovely stay at the penny, fabulous location and great rooms!
- 5/5
The staff were super helpful and very polite! The room was fantastic!
- 5/5
We had a fantastic stay. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was excellent---cozy, but SO comfortable. The scent in the room was overpowering at first, but natural and not synthetic-smelling, so it didn't bother me long term. It may bother others. The bed was a cloud of comfort. Having a little kitchenette was actually amazing---even in such a small room---and was something I didn't realize I needed in a hotel room. The pour-over coffee was an amazing touch. Our room was missing creamer, but didn't bother asking for some because it was good coffee as is, but that is a detail that should be checked. The location was really convenient for subway access and was walkable to a show at Warsaw, which is why we were visiting. A great weekend!
- 5/5
Absolutely obsessed with this hotel! It is so charming and literally perfect in every way. They’ve thought of everything and each detail is just lovely.
- 5/5
What a great find. The Penny was stylish and clean with an amazing rooftop view. The staff was friendly. The location convenient and Penny herself is quite the mascot!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at The Penny Williamsburg. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. Nice little courtyard out back and we had a nice dinner at ElNico, their rooftop restaurant. Only a few minutes walk to the L train station. We loved the pour over coffee in the room and the free coffee downstairs in the morning.
- 5/5
fantastic location, quiet, picturesque, cute hotel that is super new and clean
- 5/5
Loved this hotel
- 4/5
I really enjoyed my stay here at penny. It felt like I was in a studio apartment all to myself. I love the big towels and kitchen the bed very comfortable. The elevator so cute I will definitely be back
- 5/5
Did not enjoy hours of fire alarms after midnight
- 3/5
Small, clean room at a hefty price.
- 5/5
Loved the upstairs area rooftop area. I was able to go up and read and journal before the restaurant opened. Love having that option as a guest.
- 5/5
Had a great stay! Room was clean and comfortable and the hotel was really conveniently located.
- 5/5
Cool hotel great clean and safe location close to everything. Very elevated room with foam roller and pour over coffee was a nice touch
- 5/5
Well designed rooms! Very comfortable and pleasant stay. Great hotel!
- 5/5
love the new rooftop restaurant
- 5/5
I will go there again everyone was kind!
- 5/5
If you like artistic or different from status quo, this is the place to stay when in the area. You get the artist vibe upon walking in the front door. I was greeted with a smile and welcomed immediately. A room was ready for me even though I was early. My room was perfect in every way. Just what I needed. All I can say is they were eager to please and be helpful. Pet friendly. To see a dog is a good thing. Loved the in room pour over coffee, fridge, microwave, yoga mat, and roller. I do hope to stay again sometime.
- 5/5
Check in process easy. Staff friendly.
- 5/5
Lovely boutique hotel with a wonderful restaurant bar on the roof. Great views, super friendly, great location in Williamsburg and thanks for discount on parking!
- 5/5
Great place to stay and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Tiny but tidy! Great little boutique hotel.
- 5/5
Great. Spacious room with a comfy bed and excellent coffee set up!
- 5/5
Cool place, I’d recommend
- 5/5
Such a cute hotel! Felt right at home. The rooftop restaurant has an incredible view and perfect for working and having snacks/lunch. Friendly staff and in a very desirable location.
- 5/5
The room was perfect for what we were looking for. The only issue we had was that the seal on the shower door was not complete and resulted in some water leaking from the bathroom towards the entrance door, but staff was quick to solve this issue when I called the front desk and we had no further issues. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone, we will definitely be coming back!
- 5/5
Super hip place, great staff, clean and fun!!! Cool roof top bar to boot!!!
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Amazing hotel. Perfect location - close to soo much but still quiet. The restaurant on top is great too or they offer 24-7 snacks. Highly recommend for 1-2 people!
- 5/5
Unexpected delights like original art, throw pillows, BOOKS!, citrus in bowl -- little touches that made us feel very welcome and pampered! The bed was very comfortable with a super large window.
- 5/5
Great location, loved the property. Rooftop restaurant was delicious.
- 5/5
Property is well designed and rooms are beautiful. Everything was great except the bed is against the window in the room I had so for one person it's fine but for two it would be really inconvenient.
- 3/5
Restaurant staff were al amazing!!
- 4/5
Also there’s no way to turn off the closet light. There are no switches to turn it off. It was on all the time, even with the closet doors completely closed, and was shining through the creaks of the closet the entire time we were there. The shower was really confusing because even when the knob was on cold, the water was super hot.
- 5/5
Love, love, love this cute and cozy hotel. The staff was nice and my room was comfy enough to not let up off the snooze button.
- 5/5
The hotel is vharming with lots of outdoor spaces to enjoy. Near restaurants, parks and shopping. The rooms are small but very nice and comfortable.
- 3/5
Tiny room not muchnpersonality
- 5/5
I liked the construction of the building. The amenities in the room were spot on, everything we needed was available. Loved the shower, the pour through coffee maker, comfortable bed and pillows, big screen tv, blackout shade, storage. Especially enjoyed El Nico for a bite or meal and it's location on top of the hotel. Love that they accept dogs also.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved this hotel. Lovely art deco rooms. Great outdoor terrace. Rooms small, but all the space just the two of used.
- 4/5
Clean nice room
- 5/5
Lovely hotel with a unique touch. Right in the heart of Williamsburg which is one of New York's best areas. Friendly stuff. Comfy big bed. I was really happy with my stay!
- 5/5
The Penny is in wonderful find. From the name, after the Chihuahua Penny, to being pet friendly and all of the wonderful amenities and comfort of the rooms. It gets a five star review. We will definitely be back.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Friendly staff and good room setup and a lot of room for a NYC hotel.
- 5/5
The hotel was so cute, clean and comfortable. Love the hip art and design. The staff was wonderful! Would def stay again
- 3/5
Location was good room was cute. Room was not sound proof and at night other guest in the hallway was very loud and can hear everything
- 5/5
- 4/5
Spectacular views from the rooftop! Friendly team. Nice to have a freezer with mini fridge.
- 5/5
Perfectly located. Spacious room. Everything you need.
- 5/5
fun, easy, pleasant
- 5/5
It was between this and the Public Hotel but I got much more use staying here as my friends and family are in brooklyn/queens area. Visiting after living here, this was a perfect space for me to just have my space while in town.
- 4/5
Also, the shower wasn't sealed good and leaked all over the bathroom floor. I also found it difficult to find the TV remote, which was located in the box that the TV was housed within. Other than that, my short stay was great. I thoroughly enjoyed the rooftop and the little details such as the oranges, adorable robes, and message board. It was convenient having the breakfast items available to purchase as well as the free coffee so I didn't have to wander to find something.
- 4/5
Good location
- 5/5
This place rules!!!
- 5/5
The Penny was 100% worth it. For the same price as the stuffy hotels in midtown you can get a clean, quiet and modern hotel in a safe neighborhood near great food and reliable transit. We will be back.
- 5/5
From the moment we checked in to checkout our experience was amazing. We had a two day stay and everything and everyone was perfect. Parking was even easy as we were able to park right outside the hotel on the street. The room was clean and the bed extremely comfortable. Thank you to all the staff for making our trip more enjoyable.
- 5/5
The service is great, as is the location for shopping, eating, and taking the train anywhere in brooklyn or Manhattan. It's very cozy and friendly.
- 5/5
The cutest hotel I’ve ever stayed in! Loved the art in each room and throughout the hotel, plus the little things like the robes, pour-over coffee, books on art and New York, and high-quality toiletries.
- 5/5
Super friendly staff and nicely designed hotel. Location was great too
- 5/5

- 5/5
Charming room, loved the coffee, robes and bath sheets in addition to the room.
- 5/5
Very nice stay.
- 5/5
It’s a no-frills hotel that’s very clean and cute. If you know what you you’re getting, you will not be disappointed.
- 1/5
I stayed less than an hour and went somewhere else
- 4/5
Very glad we stayed in a deluxe queen so there was the ability to get in and out of bed on both sides. The staff are very good! We had a problem with our air conditioning (room 207) which improved the next day after they sent up an engineer. However it was the fan they gave us that saved the three nights. Very nice roof top bar and cute decor in the lobby and rooms.
- 5/5
Funky and fun
- 5/5
The property has an art vibe cute decor and everything you need. Taco restaurant on top. The rooms are small but not uncommon for New York, but they made great use of the space provided and the bathroom is a good size. It came with a large fridge, microwave, coffee kettle and steamer. Loved the small table and comfortable chairs. Nice themed room!
- 5/5
Room was clean with a comfortable bed, cozy bathrobe and had a decent amount of space considering NY hotel sizes. I appreciate how they have water stations on every floor so you don’t need to run thru plastic water bottles. Location is great with lots of restaurants walking distance. Would stay again.
- 5/5
The rooms are very clean, arty interier and updated with nice amenities: robes, utensils, drip coffee, water pitchers for fresh water (in lobby/each floor), fresh oranges, yoga mats/rollers & many other great little touches! It is in a great location, many bars and restaurants in Williamsburg and their staff was attentive and personable. We needed the pull out sofa for our stay, and the staff had someone up to make up the bed before we made it upstairs. Loved the rooftop bar and restaurant for amazing views, drinks and tacos. Can't wait to return!
- 5/5
Come back again.
- 5/5
Super cute, friendly staff, great rooftop view and cocktails.
- 5/5
For the small footprint of the room, it was very spacious and well planned. An actual bathroom with a door - in Williamsburg! And the shower had a door too… there was a sink in the main room, a kettle and the equipment you need to make a pour over coffee.. they’ve got a steamer in the closet so you can get those wrinkles out of the fine drip you will be parading around Brooklyn in. Great artwork and books in the room. I will stay here next time in BK if the rooms are as affordable as they were this time around. I spent 1 night, a Thursday.
- 5/5
Thoroughly enjoyed our last stay and came back! Our flight was delayed multiple times after checking out. We got our luggages stored while we relaxed, enjoyed food and drinks at the rooftop (one of my many favorites about Penny). TYVM.
- 5/5
The room was very comfortable and my stay was lovely.
- 5/5
Loved the comfortable beds, great restaurant and location. Will stay at the Penny again.
- 5/5
Nice place!
- 5/5
Amazing all around…comfort, location, price!
- 3/5
This property has become popular and gigantically overpriced. If you are going to spend this much you might as well stay in other properties in the area that offer much larger less utilitarian rooms, better amenities and dining.
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
To do anything by foot And they have a rooftop/restaurant/bar with amazing view of NYC by night
- 5/5
I love this hotel. The rooms are beautifully designed, the beds are comfortable, and the area is great.
- 5/5
Great spot. Loved the rooftop bar and vibe of the room!
- 5/5
I loved the aesthetic of this hotel and the art displayed all over the building. The room was clean, comfortable and well-appointed.
- 4/5
Expensive for the size of room, otherwise a great location
- 5/5
Overall a very pleasant stay. Room was clean and the bathroom was modern despite it being on the smaller side. It was also a plus that the TV had casting abilities with Apple devices. The only thing was that out shower glass door had a bit of gap so there was an issue with water leaking out of the bathroom with each shower.
- 2/5
It is close to the activities that I have when visiting the area. It is convenient. THANK YOU!
- 5/5
Staff were very accommodating and helpful! I made a late reservation on Friday evening for Saturday and Sunday. I needed an accessible room. The did not have the same room available for both nights. The kind gentleman taking my reservations contacted the manager and they were able to move some things around. That meant I was able to stay in the same room for both nights and that was great. Ordered room service from elNico. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. It’s a great place to stay where the showcase and sell original artwork created by New Yorkers with developmental disabilities. It’s a really cute place! I highly recommend!
- 5/5
Excellent! Can't wait to stay there again.
- 5/5
Small but efficient rooms! Would stay again!
- 5/5
Really enjoyed our stay here, front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Great location!
- 5/5
Very well appointed room for the size. I feel like they thought of everything. Small room yet has a fridge and a sink area! Shower leaked all over the floor which was unfortunate. Wish check out had been at 12 instead of 11.
