Everything was so clean and the location was perfect to be within walking distance of Rockefeller center, Times Square, the pier, upper east side, 5th ave shops and more. Hotel staff were friendly and extremely helpful.

The breakfast experience was quite poor for a 5 star hotel, we had to queue to be seated. Choice and quality of hot food was inadequate, compared to other hotels of this class. The staff were wonderful. Location was quite a distance from city centre but not too far to walk. The plugs didn’t work with our chargers, and it took two phone calls and a visit to reception before we were given an adapter, only one dressing gown in our room, booked for two people. There were no normal tea in our room.

Stayed here last year and it was exceptional. This time service just missed the mark. Tried calling front desk multiple times with little to no help. One time the call got disconnected and they didn’t even bother calling back. Front desk staff that checked us in was a little sassy and commentary not appreciated. Staff (from my experience last year) was kind courteous and very friendly. May explore other options next year.

We’ve stayed here several times and the hotel. The rooms in the staff are always consistently excellent. This year although we had one of the most inexpensive rooms we were on the 10th floor and the room was quite large typically for New York with a king size bed, and large open area. The location is also excellent. Highly recommended.

The rooms are lovely Located well The manager was terrible The staff forgot to tell me resort fee must be spent on day of arrival , it expires midnight I told manager I was never told , he did not acknowledge that staff overlooked details and refused to credit back to me .

Room was very clean. Breakfast was too expensive. Housekeeping staff too loud in the hallways in the morning. The floor was being turned over for a conference . I have no idea why they gave us a room on that floor. It was disruptive and noisy .

Room was good and so was the location. The staff at the front desk were not very friendly or accommodating. We arrived early from a long flight from Australia and asked for an early check in. The system was down apparently and they were not able to help us.

Beautiful hotel but a lot of issues throughout the entire stay that I was attempting to have addressed up until turning over the keys at checkout. Food leftovers (why looked like a sandwich in tin foil and leftover Indian food) in the minibar for from the previous guest that stayed and was never removed after asking for it to be multiple times. Room not cleaned the first day, returned around 9pm and had to take my kids back out so it could be cleaned. Incorrect breakfast order which was a difficult experience to make that was never addressed until realizing it was still reflecting the same on the bill. Housekeeping walking in room when knocking and when not, and the last night a lovely 6am alarm clock setting from housekeeping and I didn’t know how to turn off in the dark of course. Pretty and historical property but our experience with the staff did not match the aesthetics.

I was disappointed with my recent stay at the IHG Barclay. First, the check-in process was unnecessarily long, with only two people at the front desk and a line that extended well into the lobby. Second, the television in my room did not work and it took a while to be fixed.

Beautiful hotel in convenient location. Rooms very well appointed and kept very clean. Overall experience let down by small details this time: breakfast room inadequate for size of hotel, queues most mornings from 8am; almost impossible to make tea in rooms with a pod coffee machine and disappointing practise of adding a breakfast "over-consumption" charge to our bill despite us having breakfast included in our rate. This was removed without challenge, but what about those guests who don't understand English as well as I do?

Beautiful, large room especially for downtown NYC. Very comfortable bed and room was kept nice and clean throughout our stay. The room did not have any water provided, which I would consider a basic expectation for any hotel, particularly one that markets itself as five-star. When we came in from a night in town at 1am and asked a member of staff for some water, we were told there was a store down the street. I thought this was extremely unaccommodating and disappointing, telling customers paying a lot of money to stay at this luxury hotel, to go out into the streets at night and get it yourself! This was not in line with the level of service expected for a hotel of this price point.

$14 for a can of non-alcoholic drink at the mini bar? This is too much. Indicates that it's a hotel for business guests only, with an expense account. Not for private guests. Will not book again. Also food was left by our door when we checked in and stayed there until late the next day.

Loved the property. Room was comfortable and bed/bedding was like a cloud. Staff were great, really nice bar. Elevators were slow and often full, but you’d expect that in an older building.

Coffee was excellent. We ordered coffee every morning via room service. The staff was extremely professional and friendly. Angel, who works outside, was extremely helpful. He followed up with us and remembered where we told him we planned to visit. He is valuable to your hotel! We also liked the bakery next door, Ole & Steen for breakfast items.

After a long line to check in we arrived in the room and it was still occupied and was not clean . We had to go back to check in and wait for another room . Staff was polite but did not seem too concerned. Hotel was a bit noise but otherwise the new room was comfortable.

Two main issues were evident: (1) The staff could improve their customer service skills across all areas, as they tended not to listen attentively to clients. Service in the restaurant was slow, with employees often engaging in conversation among themselves. (2) The room with two beds was small, and the bed was not spacious enough for both my wife and me to sleep comfortably.

Premium King high floor was advertised as 310-400 sq ft; ours was 305 sq ft with minimal amenities, a substandard heating cooling system, a broken hair dryer and condescending hotel staff when we complained despite being a frequent guest and having two rooms for the post Christmas holidays. Front desk wait times took 20 minutes to get our keys and about the same amount of time to get our bags. Morning breakfast buffet at $60 per person was no better than a courtyard by Marriot. Our complaints were answered by a robot- response. Definitely not worth nearly $1,000 a night per room.

The bathtub was unusable because the stopper would not lock, making it impossible to take a bath — it honestly felt intentional, as there was no way to keep the water in. Basic amenities were also lacking. There were no water bottles or napkins in the room, which is surprising for an upscale hotel where these are usually standard. Additionally, some members of the front desk staff came across as snubby and unhelpful, which only added to the frustration. I’ve stayed at InterContinental properties before and had much better experiences, but this visit was disappointing. I won’t be returning.

Staff were the true stand out. Room was nice for NYC in terms of size and finish. Bed and furnishing were good but the real stand out was every member of the team. Smiles, genuine warmth and to see that when so busy at Hritmas time goes a long way. Bravo!!

The two staff members at the front desk today 12-9-25 on morning shift were sullen and seemingly disinterested in their job. No hrllo. Not thank you for staying. For a bill totally almost $2000 for a two night stay the training - at least for these two gentlemen should have been better. Also at noon not a bellman or doorman in site to help with baggage or hailing a cab. Both items I can handle on own but was expecting some assist this morning.

The front desk, maverick refused to give the phone to Angela who promised to keep the reservation from the 30th, said to present my card tonight to get our room back and reservation rate back, when I went to check in, they said I had to make a new reservation, and I was left with the higher rate through the hotel & to a lesser extent expedia, but the front desk said because a manager was not around they could not keep our old reservation. So, I had to take the lowest relative new rate and was stuck with a new room at the same hotel. Worst when I attempted to complain, they said the 2 employees Maverick and Angela, did not work there, then after 1 hour they did according to the manager Ralph. It would be better to apologize and say they were sorry. Just not nice.

Consistently great rooms and service. Two small things- please consider putting 2 foam pillows in each room. There was a young man super busy at the bar when we asked him for utensils because we didn't want to call room service. He was just dismissive and told us to call room service. The very professional concierge ended up getting them for us. She had to go to a lot more trouble than the bartender would have had to. We were really grateful to her but she shouldn't have had to do that.

Had a great stay at this hotel. Lobby was beautiful, room clean and large enough for me and my daughter and finally the hotel was walking distance from great restaurants and sites such as Grand Central station, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, St. Patrick's Cathedral and more.

They never picked up my room service trays on both mornings. I left all day and they dirty trays were still outside of my room when I returned at night. Also, they failed to make up my room one day, and I did not have a do not disturb sign on. I normally stay there when in NYC, but this time was very disappointing.

We checked in late and when we got to the room, the room has trash in there, towels on the floor, and the bed frame is torn. The water in the shower does not go down smoothly and built up while taking the shower.

Before booking I made sure there was the option to pay for a pull out bed for a child as our children cannot sleep in the same bed. In correspondence with the Intercontinental, we were informed that we would get one if available. This was a special occasion for our eldest child. When we arrived we were told no such bed would even fit in the room and the hotel doesn't have any! Instead, front desk tried to upsell us a room which would make no improvement to our situation for a very large sum per night. There was no empathy. Our sleep has been awful. Furthermore our bed had a large hole taped over, there was mold in the shower and small rips in bed sheets. What do you say to children asking why there are holes their bedding when we told them it was a 5 star hotel? The bathroom smelled of cannabis. I couldn't work out if it was coming through the duct system or was the hand wash liquid. The buffet is not reasonably priced for young children, so we ate out every morning. Not a child friendly hotel. It served a purpose (good location) but will go to a different NYC hotel next time.

Very poor customer service. Poor response to front desk calls, food lying outside our room from someone else's room service order that was picked after 2 days. Other than location, there wasn't much going for them. Residence Inn by Marriott which is just down the street might have been a better choice.

By the time we got settled in the second room, it was 1:30am. Exhausted, I was disgusted to find a questionable brown mark on the wall near the toilette in our new room. Absolutely disgusting. Once I complained to the hotel manager all they could muster up was a free breakfast. Not exactly what I had in mind after having gone through all of that. The second night sleep was no better as the bed in our second room was so uncomfortably soft. There was so support on it.

There is no water in the room, I ordered in room dinner but they never showed up and I waited for over an hour to get my dinner. The alarm woke me up at 6am and then the phone in the my room rang. I can hear people using their bathroom next door, very loud. It was such a terrible stay! !

Thank you for upgrading my room upon arrival. The hotel is absolutely amazing. Very clean and even though the hotel is located on two of the busiest avenues in Midtown Manhattan, the hotel is built so well resulting in an incredibly quiet experience culminating in us having an amazing night sleep. I booked two nights and then added a third. When I checked in, the receptionist said I would have to change rooms after the first night which they had assured me I would not have to do when I added the extra night. Then bill was wrong at checkout and the attendant was irritated that I questioned it finally conceding I was right. Very unprofessional.

The hotel location is excellent. And it is clean. However, the room was very small and the beds were tiny (too small for two adults so one of us had to share the bed with our 8 yr old son). On the first night I asked for more pillows and they said they had no more pillows. Finally the soundproofing is not good enough for a 5 star hotel. On our last night we couldn’t sleep because of the noise from the neighbors (we could hear everything they were saying). I will not go back.

The good: great location (close to Grand Central and a couple of Subway stations), quiet rooms (11th floor), reasonable living space, great shower, and neat lobby/bar areas. The not-so great (not a deal-breaker): the roof-top terrace on the website is only for penthouse guests, the TV/remote in the room is very slow, a resort fee.
