    Don't know how this hotel ends up with a 4 star rating in Manhattan. However, if you want a Motel 6 style clean room with a comfortable bed and a pretty good location, then this hotel will work great for you. Do not expect any amenities - and I mean none (not even a pen in the room). And don't be surprised by the $45/night facility fee - despite no amenities.

    It’s the kind of hotel that gets the job done for a short business trip where you just need a place to sleep. No frills and not much to speak of in terms of amenities. I will say, it seemed a bit diabolical that the alarm clock had been set to 6am before my arrival - an unplanned awakening given my late checkin and jet lag. The fact that both of my colleagues- in different rooms on different floors — had the same thing happen points to this being something staff had set?

    The words, FINE, VAPE, SMOKING or $500 NEVER CAME OUT OF ANYONE'S MOUTH. The check in was pretty quick and I remember asking about the rooftop area that was pictured in the online photo and was told that I could get to it from the 17th floor BUT THERE WERE NO ACTUAL CHAIRS FOR PEOPLE TO SIT ON AS PICTURED. This disappointed me because I had been looking for a hotel with outside seating and I mentioned this, but at that point there was nothing I could do about it, so we moved on to our room. If I would have heard anything about vaping or smoking, I would have ABSOLUTELY TUNED INTO THAT because neither me or my daughter can afford to pay fines. She and I were standing at the desk together when we checked in and I know she would have heard that as well, because we are both on a tight budget and would not have wanted to pay a fine of any sort. This is clearly a money making racket!

    Good location, and 24-hour fitness center Everything is run down. There are virtually no amenities other than the fitness center (which is decent). The bed was lumpy, the sheets had stains on them, various knobs and handles were loose, the rug was stained, etc. My windows looked out on a garbage alley.

    Great hotel that still has a few - just a few- of the original details. Quiet, small, well cared for and polite and professional staff. Please be nice to the staff, they all work really hard to make your stay pleasant, don't be a jerk! I was very lucky to have found this at the last minute and enjoyed staying here.

    I had a pleasant stay at Hotel 57. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the location was excellent with many shops and attractions nearby. The only downside was that the air conditioning unit was quite noisy, especially at night. Other than that, everything was good and I would consider staying here again.

    Bed was very very comfortable and I slept well. Pillows and duvet were super comfortable. Plenty of walking space for a hotel room in Manhattan but this was for accessible reasons as was the bathroom. However there is no fridge in the room. Closet space was awkward as hanging bar was low and difficult to hang clothes. Bathtub was too slippery when showering, I actually slipped and fell, and nearly hit my head against the marble edge if not for safety railings. And the constant rumbling of the elevators (right next to room) could be distracting at night. No breakfast places within 3 blocks unless it was a coffee bar.

    The location was excellent for the upper east side. There is so much to do there and you are so close to Central Park. The room was good in the bathroom was very large. There was a nice big closet and dressing area as well. It was much bigger than I expected since I have been in some very tiny rooms in New York City.

    Stayed here while my daughter was in hospital. Location is good for midtown site seeing. Check in was easy. Staff very nice. Room was large and clean. Water pressure in sink and shower not great but worked with it. It is an older building, so you can hear hallway noise.

    The staff was wonderful, the pictures were not as depicted on the property. There was no terrace availability as was shown on the photos, false representation. Also, it was not a four-star hotel. It was 2 to 3 star because of the condition of the room and the amenities.

    Although the room was on the smaller side, it was incredibly cozy and thoughtfully designed with absolutely everything I needed. The space was perfectly clean, and I especially loved the wonderful smell of the shampoo. I am writing to share my severe disappointment with my recent stay. The soundproofing in the rooms is virtually non-existent; the walls are so thin that the road noise was unacceptably loud. To make matters worse, at approximately 3:00 AM, the couple in the adjacent room was loudly fighting for over an hour, and we could hear every word. The entire night was an absolute nightmare. I was unable to get any sleep and had to go to work the next day completely exhausted. I expected a restful environment and was deeply let down.

After Chekqued out i I asked the receptionist to keep my lugage because I needed to have several woking meetings and could no take the Case. Then, the guy in the front desk told me they did not have doorman in that moment. I complained and a girl that was working in the hotel told that every hotel was free to have their policies, but finally the kept my lugage, but the treatment was not good

    The location is very convenient, the hotel staff were lovely and the room was clean. There were not too many towels available and the interiors and elevators need a refresh. Our door handle was very sticky and it would take multiple attempts to open the door. This is fine during the day, but dangerous if one needs to leave one's room quickly.

    The hotel staff was rude and not helpful . Never saw anyone at the concierge stand. Our room was clean but tired and had nothing. No water ~ not make up wipes ~ no tissues or other bathroom amenities. You could see the light coming all around the door. We were charged a facility fee of $40 and when we asked they said it was for resort amenities. They have a terrace but no furniture so it was useless. The restaurant on the main level was used as storage . With all the other options in NYC I would skip this hotel all together.

    Very small room, but then again, this is New York. Everything was fairly new, clean, if you are just looking for a safe place to sleep and go see the city this will work. The staff was very friendly and nice, the location was fairly good you can walk to Times Square (20 minute walk, 10 minutes to Rockefeller Center, 12 minutes to the upscale stores, and 12 minutes to Central Park). We did 20-25,000 steps per day (7 miles) for 3 days...if you like a good place to walk from this would be the place to do it.

    Terrible attitude by couple of the staff members. I rarely leave bad reviews but decided to take the time to do it. Loud AC, ask the front desk to move me to another room. They say no availability and I can try next day. When I come back and check the front desk lady says it's not that loud and perhaps I'm a light sleeper. Classic gas lighting, and felt like I was talking to my ex-wife again :). I go up and find the noise had reduced a bit but only because they reduced the speed from 3 to 1. If I increased it, the loud rattling started again. Decide to put up with it. Upon checkout was greeted by another lady with no smile. Ask her to email the receipt to the email on file. She does not say a word. Then I ask again, the she says, I printed it for you. I then say I do not want to waste paper and would rather prefer it in email. She says sorry I just shut my machine and proceeds to give me the print. Then says if you want it emailed speak to my colleague next. Who at that time was handling another customer. Couple of the other folks were nice and friendly. So not everyone were bad. Anyways stay at your own risk.

    Hay políticas del hotel que te comunican 24 h antes, con lo cual hace imposible realizar una cancelación sin penalización en caso de que con algunas de sus “políticas “ no estés de acuerdo. Mi estadía la pagué en su totalidad al llegar y me tuve que ir antes de mi fecha prevista por una situación médica de emergencia.En el check out en teoría me dijeron que reembolsarían la diferencia pero que lo notificara a expedía , a ellos se la negaron categóricamente, otra vez basados en sus “ políticas de la empresa “ . No quedé complacida con su proceder y respuesta .

    The room was mostly clean, but smelled strongly of bleach. The condition of the woodwork was a bit rough, and the drapes were deeply stained -which was mostly hidden until I closed them. The sheets were crisply clean, and that’s what I cared most about. The choice of putting lotion in the wall dispenser instead of soap seems odd -I very naturally pumped the bottle thinking it was soap as it’s DIRECTLY next to the sink at the right, only to realize my mistake. Meanwhile the actual soap is a teeny bar tucked up in a tiny cubbyhole a foot above the sink to the left.

    There were three reservation desks at check-in, and I was greeted warmly by all three individuals at those desks! The room they gave me was on a high floor and very quiet. The bed was really comfortable. There was a deep tub that looked very inviting, but I did not have a chance to enjoy it this trip. Next time! I liked the fact that the tv had a built in connection to Netflix. You use your own account, but it’s easy to connect because a QR code appears on the screen. Room service would have been nice, but I knew when I booked that this was not available. Plenty of dining options within a block.

    So many things were right with this hotel. Great location, friendly staff, comfy bed and pillows. Our king room was spacious by any standards but especially big for NYC. The ONLY negative would be the worn furnishings. In fact, if the replaced the fabric headboard on the bed (which was stained and scratched), we would have probably not even scrutinized the rest of the furnishings. All in all, excellent stay!

    I expect a lot more for a hotel that’s $300 a night. The beds were quite uncomfortable, both not soft, and sinking, woke frequently on it in the night. The room was spacious for New York but bare bones. The shower was a bathtub with high walls and a loud creaking sound when you stood on it, sink had old school style hot and cold knobs with one side installed backwards so you’d always get confused about how to adjust the temperature of the water. Staff could have helped a lot more at check in and should have stated plainly that the only way to drive up with a car to check in would be to temporarily stand with four ways on in a bus only lane, and that the bellman can only come out to help with bags if you’re parked there. The hotel was in a convenient location and we only stayed there to sleep, spending the rest of our time elsewhere, so we got the bare minimum with not much in the way of comforts. I wouldn’t book another stay here.

    The fire alarm went off while we were sleeping, and we came downstairs scared. The firefighters arrived; fortunately, nothing serious happened and we were able to return to our rooms. However, there were many guests in the lobby, and some employees were very rude. They wanted us to move, but the lobby is so small that the only place we could go was outside, into the snow, and being in pajamas made it very difficult. There is an area in the lobby that remains closed; they should open it so guests have space to stay. They also did not allow us to have a late check-out. I will not stay there again.

    Room felt neglected, staff wasn't great, our windows were duct taped shut, half of the plugs in our room didn't work, the hallway was always full of carts (then it was an inconvenience when we needed to pass with luggage), vacuums and other things, the laundry area was wide open and had holes in the walls and it had less than one ply toilet paper in it. I expected significantly more from a nice hotel. With the exception of the check in area, it truly felt like a motel.

    The air conditioner/radiator exploded in the middle of the night and flooded my room. I had to pack up and move rooms at 1am while maintenance staff stood in my room and provided no help.     We had a wonderful stay at Hotel 57. The location was perfect, and the value for the price was exceptional. The staff were genuinely delightful—friendly, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. Our room suited our needs perfectly: clean, comfortable, with a great bed, plenty of closet space, and a lovely shower and bath. The overall aesthetic was pleasant, and we had everything we needed (though a mini fridge would have been a nice bonus!). We’d happily stay here again.

    My room was very spartan, kinda like a dorm room, and the carpet and window coverings were dated and worn. Very few amenities in the bathroom, although the bathroom was clean and large enough, and the showerhead was great. The room was dark and just uninviting. The staff was friendly.     Good value. Easy check-in. Very clean and well appointed for the price and location. Only problem is that the hot water ran out a few minutes into my shower. Was lukewarm after. Street noise is high so I wish the windows did a better job of blocking out the noise, but I was able to sleep. Comfy bed.

    The room was falsely advertised and had only one bed instead of two. We were able to be moved to another room but that one wasn’t as prepared for guests (no hand soap, clean towels etc.) The people at the front desk were very nice but the experience overall was not good at all.

    The room was clean, but a bit cool for my liking. No signal on tv so I could not watch anything. No fridge so I could not buy anything to store while I was there. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the questions I asked. I wouldn’t stay there again. In my opinion the price is a bit much for what you actually get.

    For a hotel pitching itself as luxury, having peeling wall paper exposing mould, and gross carpet stains felt very budget. We were really disappointing with this hotel and would not opt to stay here again. Even after telling staff about the condition of the room, there was no real effort to resolve things until a couple of hours before we left. If you need a place to stay, the bed is clean...if you want to feel you were somewhere nice, I'd look elsewhere.

    I come to NYC about four times a year, and often try to find an affordable hotel room near the location of where I'm visiting or where my business is at, and so I often stay at different properties. Many of them appear to be converted apartment buildings as Hotel 57 appears to be, so I am comparing "apples to apples" when rating Hotel 57. The building itself is clean and presented well, and the location was perfect for me, and for someone coming in as a tourist, is what I think to be a very convenient location. It is very close to Central Park, great shopping, landmark attractions, and is just a couple of blocks from a subway station as well as having a bus line right out the door that goes across town very conveniently. The room was very clean, contemporary, and attractive, with every basic and necessary amenity for me, like a TV with lots of channels, a well appointed bathroom, a coffee machine, safe, and a lighted full closet. It wasn't lacking in any way. The staff was wonderful. Always polite and welcoming, and very accommodating. I only booked one night initially, but as my visit required additional nights, twice I extended it, with the staff making sure that I didn't have to move rooms (thanks Raymond), and while giving me the lowest rate available for that room. Overall a wonderful caring staff!

    I think this property has a great location. I traveled by myself and the staff was polite. The room is very plain but I was not hanging out there only slept there . It was made daily. The ice machine in the corridor was loud, I thought someone was trying to get in but it was the ice machine. No food or kitchen and when I asked about a vending machine they said there is none. They have an ATM. I think it’s a very simple hotel with no restaurant but the price was less than half of the cheaper surrounding ones in the area.

    The hotel is next to a club, and we did not get much sleep during our five-night stay. $80 was credited back to us when we mentioned it, and they told us there was a club next door. Worse, we were charged a Smoking Fee when we checked out, and we were not in our room at the time of detection. We are currently disputing the charge using the hotel's dispute form.

    There was small fridge in front on the room’s door, we had to pushed it away to get in. The tub was missing a glass door, so water was spilling out when showering. Overall, I wasn’t too happy with the experience. Checking in was also slowed process.

    What you are paying for is location. This area is very conveniently located with great accessibility to multiple subway lines, shopping, Central Park and a wide array of food option - from Whole Foods to fast food, bagel shops, diners and coffee shops. The hotel has a nice staff. Rooms are small even by city standards. The bathroom has very limited counter space. The air felt stuffy. Not great when you are a pet friendly hotel with tiny rooms. My allergies were none too pleased. I encountered some large dogs during my stay and I couldn’t help but think that I was laying on a bed that probably had a large German shepherd on it the night before.

    Great convenient hotel for shopping and food! Lots of options nearby. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was clean with some upgrades to the sink and toilet, but unfortunately the tub had scratches and needed to be replaced. Plus it had a poor drainage problem when you used the shower. Overall, we enjoyed our stay for the few days, but probably won't return.

    On the positive side, the room was modern and up to date, and we were able to check in early (though there was a small fee). The elevators were very slow, so I’d recommend using the stairwell. It also looked like the restaurant on the bottom floor was under construction, so breakfast wasn’t included. Overall, it was fine for a short stay, but definitely overpriced for what you get.

    Everything was perfect. Didn’t hear a sound all night. Clean hotel with friendly staff, walking distance to Central Park, Blooming Dales and so much more. The palace diner and Dunkin right next door was a very welcome surprise. All in all it was an excellent hotel and I’m sure that we’ll be back.

    Make sure to double check the deposit and accidental fee of the Hotel. I’ve been expecting a deposit back for the longest for them to tell me that it was a per day thing after the guy that charged and checked us in told me that it was $200 flat guaranteeing a $155 deposit refund back. We were “supposed” to get $45 charged just once.

    We stayed for seven nights. The hotel staff were lovely throughout. The room was cleaned each day. The room decor and facilities are dated and aren't super clean as a result. The room we had was small (which was as expected in Manhattan). The rooms are not remotely soundproofed, we could hear conversations from other rooms and throughout the floor, and all the traffic from outside, which didn't bother us too much but Im sure would bother others. The photos on the websites of the room did not match the room we got and certainly isn't a four star hotel. The location was good for us, which is important. Overall I'm not sure if it was worth the price we paid.

    The location of the hotel is excellent. The rooms are dated and there is hardly any amenities outside the room. If you want to stay in a decent place in Manhattan their value for the stay is great. My only complain is the front desk people. Most of them seemed they are doing the job against their will just to earn few bucks for their living. Outright rude often times lacking basic customer service that we see in most of the hotels. There was an older gentle man in the front desk was very rude while we were checking out. Most likely they are not paid well by the management. Their elevator is old and sometimes not responsive with the key card so it was annoying because it tool us to a wrong floor.

    Loud club adjoining the hotel. Shook the entire place until after 2AM. I never got to sleep. My wife kept waking up, even with active noise cancelling ear buds. The website shows a happy family enjoying breakfast, but it definitely isn't a family friendly place...the kids would be very cranky. Heard the staff telling lots of guests "there is nothing I can do". Just save yourself the headache (literally) and choose someplace else.

    The bathroom was particularly spacious and it was nice to have larger bottles of shampoo/conditioner/body wash installed in the shower as well as wash cloths to use. The bed was comfortable, the bed linens were soft and the carpet was immaculate. I also received good suggestions from the staff about places to go in the neighborhood. I’d definitely stay again.

    Our room on the 15th floor with a private balcony was awesome. Some work needs to be done to modernize but it was still awesome.

    The people who worked here were really nice but the property is old and you can tell. The bedding is horrible so I really didn’t sleep well the entire five days. Also, the air conditioner is so loud that it makes it difficult to get rest. I would not stay here again.

    There are no amenities there note worthy and the condition of the rooms, hallways etc are incredibly outdated. The staff is lovely friendly and sweet. The bed was fine our room was dirty and the shower curtain came down while showering and there was no soap. Rooms are sparse at best.

    The area near the train station is nice. I had cold water running for a while. The front desk rarely answers the phone, which was annoying. Overall, it was okay. Maintenance came and fixed the issue.

    We had a great experience and would stay again. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is older but in pretty good shape. Mostly clean except the massive amount of dust behind the bed headboards. The location was great and neighborhood was nice, short walk to subway.
