Reviews
The hotel's location is consistently praised, and the staff is often described as welcoming. However, the room size is a common complaint, and issues with payment, deposits, and unexpected charges are frequently mentioned.
- Convenient location
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Rooms are too small
- Payment issues and unexpected charges

Paper bag with breakfast was substandard. Lots of pastries.
- 4/5
A solid affordable hotel experience in a great location. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very functional (especially the window AC unit and the bathroom were great). The only knock I can give is a general run down condition of some of the furniture and hardware, and slight lack of care in cleanliness if you looked hard (dust mostly). But the housekeeping was prompt and kept it clean in the key ways.

Great Location - near trains - good area near restaraunts and ammenities (mostly safe). The room was the expected size for a NYC hotel room, and the bed was comfortable, and even a hair dryer was provided. There is a "cafeteria" in the basement which has vending machines, a sink, and tables and chairs to sit down and eat your take out food. A few issues I had though were that there was no counterspace, just a small sink ledge to put stuff on. Also in this particular room I had the TV was mounted on a side wall, so not visible from the bed unless I laid sideways on an angle. Also the breakfast consists of a "grab and go" bag which is packaged pastries, fruit cup, and yogurt, most of which I could not eat because I am on a gluten free diet. There were some cosmetic inperfections including really wide unsightly grout lines and exposed circuit breaker box and wiring, but nothing that was so horrible I didn't feel like I still didn't get a good value.

The property felt unsafe and extremely run-down from the moment I arrived. The front desk was behind a glass-protected wall, which immediately made me uncomfortable. After checking in, I found there was no shampoo or conditioner provided, the hairdryer did not work, and the room felt dirty enough that I was genuinely concerned about bedbugs. Throughout the night, I could hear people screaming, yelling, and crying, which was very unsettling, especially as a solo traveller. I left very early the next morning because I no longer felt safe staying there. I only booked this hotel because it was close to the concert venue, but I strongly recommend others avoid it.

The room was clean. We did not stay long enough to have breakfast although it was offered. We stayed there for 1 night due to flight cancellation. The room assigned to us appears to have a fresh coat of paint (smoke and CO2 detectors still wrapped in plastic, TV still have protective plastic sheeting, and the mirror still needs to be hung). The area while not ideal, appears to be in a safe area. The neighbors are a climbing gym and a swim academy for kids. Although the glassed in enclosure for the check in desk does not instill confidence. I felt this hotel can only get better as the area definitely look clean and safe. It is a 30 minute Uber ride from LGA, not exactly close to the airport. The room is very small. A queen bed barely fit in it. Each time my husband got in bed, the creaky bed wakes me up, not a great night of sleep. The mattress is comfortable, though.

Bed was incredibly creaky and loud, entire hallway smelled like tobacco even though it's a non-smoking hotel, broken shelf under the mirror. I could also hear everything from the hallway because the door wasn't fully sealed.

Staff was fine and was attentive to my inquiries. However, I found multiple different kinds of bugs in my bed (not bed bugs to my knowledge) but multiple different species. my toilet clogged upon arrival - from just pee (sorry for the tmi). I did not stay for more than an hour or so as I did not feel safe sleeping in the bed after finding so many bugs. I do not want to post a public review but I do want some form of refund as I had to book a different hotel for the night.

Bad experience
- 1/5
It was a bed to sleep on and a bathroom Bed filled up almost entire room, mattress was so high had to climb onto it with a bad leg, no chair, shower had damaged shelf, shampoo, conditioner, outlet in bathroom did not work so neither did the hair dryer, soap dispensers did not work or were empty, toilet paper dispenser was broken, TV channel options were weird and difficult to figure out. No local channels or usual cable news or other channels. I asked for an adjustment, and was told "will see what we can do"

The room and bathroom did not feel very clean. The towels were ripped, and there were many small hairs on the towels. The bathroom floor also did not look properly cleaned. The bathroom exhaust fan/vent had visible dust and dirt buildup, which was unpleasant. The shower water was difficult to adjust, and the bathroom shelf was barely hanging on the wall. Noise was also a major issue. I could clearly hear people in the room next to me, as well as noise from outside. The window seemed to have some kind of plastic covering instead of proper glass, so there was very little noise reduction, and cold air was coming through the window. Because of this, I had a hard time sleeping. Overall, the hotel is cheaper than many other places in NYC, but you get what you pay for. If you do not mind a very small room, lower cleanliness standards, and a lot of noise, it may be okay for a short stay. But if you are sensitive to noise or care about cleanliness and comfort, I would not recommend it.

Review is written from viewpoint of a super commuter who values price, convenience/proximity to subway, and has a private bathroom. Those boxes are all checked. The neighborhood is great - steps away from Threes Brewery and Nenes Tacqueria among many more restaurants. The hotel is very simple. The room admittedly was very small. Several subway options <10 minute walk. I would stay again.

I have stayed at the hotel before and I will surely go back again. I like the "not too fancy" part of Brooklyn with a good vibe, close to culture, shops and good restaurants.

It’s way too small, but if you’re just in town for one night and need a place to crash, it’s fine. walking distance to Barclay center.

This property is not a hotel. It is an old, tired, dreary and run down ‘renovated’ tenament building, The sink drain didn’t work, the walls were stained and the mini fridge turned out not to be working with spoiled food in the morning. Expedia apparently did not vet this property and had the audacity to charge $212.00. I arrived at 8:00 pm to the hotel after a long day of travel. It was too late to find another nearby property. Awful experience. As a long time Expedia customer this was one of the worst stays I have experienced. Expedia completely misrepresented this property! I’ve asked Expedia for compensation.

The location is good, Union Str. Metro is quite close. Staff are friendly, but were not able to handle loud guests at night. The rooms are too small, there is no space to put anything down, no chair. These are single rooms with an extra bed crammed into it. In the basement is a 'canteen' not heated and quite depressing. Breakfast is some very cheap frozen single packed food which you pick up in a bag at reception in the morning.

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There is free to go breakfast but I didn’t find much of items I cared for. There is also a microwave, vending machine, and coffee bar in the basement that we used quite a lot. The room itself could have used some improvements. There were several burn marks on the furniture from prior guests. The ventilation above the toilet dripped water consistently onto the toilet/sink area. Overall it was a convenient and safe place to stay. The hvac and TV worked great. The maid was friendly and changed our towels daily. I would stay here again.

Convenient location near downtown Brooklyn attractions. Easy access to public transit. Clean and well-kept hotel, no frills but comfortable. Coffee maker and mini-fridge in the room, and a free grab-and-go breakfast. Mostly recommended for solo travelers, the rooms are really small and wouldn't be ideal for families. I don't really have any complaints. The rooms are very small, but that's to be expected.

The room is very small but we were expecting that. The water took a long time to get warm/hot. The hotel is a bit noisy, but we brought earplugs. They advertised that they served breakfast but there was no breakfast offered. Luckily there are plenty of good food options nearby. It's a decent place to stay if you're not planning on spending any time at the hotel except to sleep.

This is a great stay for the price. Easy check-in and check-out. Decent sized bathroom with hot water and a good heater in the room for NYC’s cold weather. It’s also located just around the corner from the NYC metro, so it was super easy to get to Manhattan and all the major NYC tourist attractions. There was a nice TV with access to all the major streaming services too. Very good budget friendly option, but you get what you pay for in terms of size. The elevator smelled like smoke, but the room didn’t, so that was nice. The room was so small that the door hits the bed and doesn’t open all the way. I’m only 5’1” and not that heavy, but if you are a plus sized or very large traveler, you might have a hard time fitting through the door and around the bed. There also was no iron or ironing board in the room. Still a good option for solo travelers on a budget.

Not my hotel. The room was clean, not problem with it, but it is dire need of renovation. Just looks very old, very well used and not quite as depicted in the image. I could hear all the loud noise of people entering the hotel and walking the hallway from my 1st floor room. Some guests decided to have an extremely loud hallway/lobby conversation at 3.30 am waking me up and the front desk could not be bothered to shut down the loud conversation. Summa summarum, not the experience I was looking for. If and when they decide to renovate and remodel the hotel, maybe worth another visit, but not now.

Easy check-in and check-out. The walls are extremely thin. Noise from the neighboring room and hallway started around 12am and continued for several hours. By 3am and 6am, another guest confronted them due to the ongoing disturbance. Even when things quieted down, muffled voices from the next room were still clearly audible.

Room was a little bit rough and lacked enough electrical outlets for me to charge my photo gear. But it was okay for a quick sleep on a work trip. A reading lamp bedside would be a big improvement and one more electrical outlet maybe near the bedside?

The location is amazing, we stayed one night for a wedding and it was within the same block. We even found free street parking on the same street. It was clean but simple, basically a room with a bed and private bathroom. The bed took up 75% of the space in the room and was comfortable. It is what it is, for one night I would say it’s a much more affordable option than anywhere else in the area.

I was not able to stay here overnight and decided to leave early because the whole situation felt unsafe. The place smelled like cigarettes and weed, there was no lock on the door that wasn’t connected to the key card, and at 2pm, down the hall, there was a man that would not stop yelling. It seemed as though his window outside was open and had a trash bag taped over it, and I was not able to get an understandable answer from the front desk as to why he was yelling or if it would stop (it seemed like it wouldn’t).

I took a star off for cleanliness because the hard floor was dirty and we tracked bits and other people's hair into the bed. So, the cleaners need better training. The bed was super comfortable. The sheets were clean. The HVAC works very well. The shower was nice and hot. The staff are incredibly friendly and very helpful. The bagged breakfast (with 7 different things!) and endless coffee in the basement cafeteria are nice touches. The location to the Barclay and Paramount is excellent. Close to Prospect Park. Literally over 100 restaurants within an easy walk. Lots of shopping within an easy walk. 2 blocks from the R subway, so you can be anywhere in the city. 20 minute subway/walk to the beach at Coney Island. If you go in expecting a 3-star experience in a tiny room, you will be very satisfied, especially with the rate you are paying compared to nearby places. My litmus test for any accommodation: would I stay there again? YES!

The staff was great, but the property was run down. The bed barely fit in the room and there was hardly enough space to squeeze by the bed to access the bathroom. No chair in the room. The AC unit was right against the bed and blew air on me all night.

Clean, pretty good shower and mattress. But very uncomfortable room: only an overhead light, no nightstand to put a lamp or a cup of coffee on, lots of sharp corners/edges to hit your legs on. Expensive for what you get. Sorry won’t be back.

The place is in a nice location but the rooms are very small with unpainted repaired patches or places where repairs were needed.

Just a hole in the wall, super small room. The double bed was thee worst. Entered the room & there was a 1/2 drunk cup of coffee on the desk. Took a shower & there was an opened pack of soap in there. Down the hall a man was screaming all night, never heard anyone go check on him/ tell him to stop. The room was barely big enough for 2 grown people. Breakfast was a lunch bag filled w/an apple, muffin, OJ, danish & yogurt. Def a 1 & done experience for me & my fiancé. I wouldn’t recommend this place in good conscious. It gave halfway house smh.

Friendly, welcoming staff. The hotel room itself is small, but at least it's been remodeled, and the bathroom was good. Also appreciated having a small refrigerator.

Hotel staff were very kind and efficient. Front desk helped me and was super nice. However, the room itself had fruit flies and a big spider (who was friendly but yknow…a spider) and jus kinda looked and felt run down. The room was also small as sin. For $252 i def didn’t expect it to be that small and not as clean.

I booked a Queen Accessible Room for two nights via Hotels.com. We are an elderly couple with mobility issues, and have stayed in your hotel before. We were put in room 410. The bed isn't a Queen bed, the room is barely 9 foot by 6 feet. The bathroom is almost as big as the bed room. The idea that this room is 'Accessible' is ridiculous. There is no room either side of the bed to get into it, you have to climb over the end of the bed across a metal frame. To cap it all, in the morning there was no hot water for the shower. We left after one night.

What I did not like about the hotel is that I lost my Stanley cup in there I left it in there and didn’t realize until I was on the way home so I contacted them they said they didn’t have it and I know for a fact it was there.

There is nothing romantic or professional about this place. The rooms are absolutely tiny with zero amenities, there’s no nightstand or night tables. There are people coming and going at all hours of the night, we had some mentally unwell guy yelling and blasting his TV the entire time that we almost checked out at 5 AM. It’s really unfortunate that this place has paid somebody to create a nice looking website when inside it looks like the basement of the Port Authority. Avoid if you can’t. Don’t be duped by the cheap prices.

Not bad for the price decent room kinda small but bathroom was big other then that great for short stay

The room was shockingly small, offering barely enough space to move around. To make matters worse, the TV was unreliable, freezing every few minutes while trying to watch something, which added to the frustration. The entire experience left me feeling mortified. I made sure to document everything with pictures because the state of the room was beyond unacceptable. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone and strongly suggest looking elsewhere for accommodations.

Essence is basic. Staff was very friendly. There is a large bed but it was basically a giant foam block. There is a chair (folding) and tiny desk (also folding) and TV (reception was skiddish). On the plus side an excellent shower head!

THIS IS THE BEST HOTEL IN BROOKLYN BY A LONG SHOT. THE STAFF IS VERY WHOLESOME AND INVITING. BOB AT THE FRONT DESK IS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND DEDICATED TO ENSURE THAT ALL YOUR NEEDS ARE MET. THE MANAGER IS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY I FEEL AT HOME THERE COMPARED TO ANY OTHER HOTEL I STAYED THERE 3 WEEKS, THERE ARE SEVERAL RESTAURANTS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE TRANSPORTATION IS VERY CLOSE AS WELL. THE HOTEL IS VERY CLEAN. I DEFINITELY GIVE THIS HOTEL A 10/10.

Honestly, this place is a no bells and whistles, good stay. Room was small but not too small, with a TV, fridge, and AC. The bed was a little firm but not uncomfortable, and the people at the front desk were extremely helpful and nice. It’s in a really great area as well. Very solid stay.
