Reviews
The hotel has a great location and friendly staff, but the rooms are small and there are issues with cleanliness and amenities. Some guests feel it is not worth the price for a 5-star hotel.

Lovely quiet hotel in the heart of diwntown
- 3/5
The rooms are small, and there is virtually no wardrobe space. The air conditioning is very noisy. The rooms are not quiet; you can hear street noise through the windows, and they are not properly soundproofed. The bathroom ventilation does not work. The doors and walls have stained or peeling paint, and the cleanliness is questionable. The hotel is in need of renovation, both in the common areas and in the guest rooms.

The hotel has great staff and is in a great location right between SoHo and Little Italy. Wish the room had a fridge, but that’s the only complaint I have about the room. The bouncer at The Blonde was on some BS talking about $300 minimum bar tab, but other than those two things, my stay there was great.

Everyone at the Howard was amazing, friendly, and helpful! Very convenient spot right in SoHo. 10/10!

Good location and it’s clean, but nothing more than that. Thank god we booked it on sale, at full price I would have been very upset Tiny rooms that look like a motel with nice bath products. Tiny bathroom. Nothing luxury about the room. Paper thin walls so we could hear our next door neighbours flushing their toilet.

Man at front desk was terrible to me on check in. Refused to check me in for no reason. Got up and walked away and didn’t return. The rest of the staff were friendly. Could not turn down room temp, something was wrong with the thermostat in my room. Also, carpets in the hallway are some of the dirtiest I have seen in any hotel.

A beautiful property in a prime location. I booked a night here for my parents when our reservation at The Broome fell through, and since I live nearby, 11 Howard was the obvious choice. There’s a reason it’s the go-to spot for those in the know— it’s chic, impeccably designed, and perfectly situated, with destinations like Le Coucou and The Blond right inside. But what truly sets it apart is the staff. Cory is exceptional and went above and beyond to make sure my parents — including my mother who is undergoing chemotherapy — were comfortable and cared for. My parents were impressed and comfortable, and I felt completely at ease and safe leaving them in his hands. Thank you Cory for your kind attention, we are so grateful for you!

Hotel is very worn in. Room was small and dark. The mirror was positioned directly beside the bed so you couldn’t use it. The lighting was horrible. The walls were so thin that every night our Neighbour’s woke us up and or it felt like we were in the room with them when they were talking.

- every light had a dimmer switch. – rounded corners on furniture to avoid bruises. – make up mirror and hairdryer that could be taken to the bedroom to free up bathroom. – lots of space for toiletries (huge shelf under sink) – Lots of towel hooks - no coffee in room is a bummer, but free coffee available on second floor We stayed here with our teenage daughter and didn’t trip all over each other despite the room being normal New York City size. Consider that a win. Great area, would stay here again.

We originally booked at a nearby hotel that was slightly more expensive, but one we’ve stayed at before. As a last minute change we decided to book at 11 Howard, as most of the others in our large group were staying here. Instant regret, toilet was absolutely filthy at check in (photo attached) our room had a view of garbage (I know it’s NY but yuck) and our “upgraded” room was on the 3rd floor above the nightclub. I overheard staff telling other guests that the third floor is the worst one and they were lucky to be on the 9th. The bass at 2am was so loud. The hotel is run down, dark and just all around sort of depressing. Once I saw the gross toilet at check in I feel like I just could not relax. The rooms are tiny which is standard in most NYC hotels, however the bathroom isn’t even large enough for one person to turn around in it. If you’re inside the washroom you can barely close the door. Check in was a mess, there was a bunch of people just standing around no order, nothing. But the gentleman who checked me in was very nice. The doormen were also extremely friendly. Overall will not be staying here again.

Perfect in every way! We were there celebrating my niece’s 18th birthday before she goes off to college. I told them this when they asked what brought us to NYC, they congratulated her and then upgraded us to a luxurious room with a beautiful terrace overlooking the Lower East Side! We had such a magical weekend and I cannot thank the hotel staff enough!

Our first room was unlivable: extreme humidity, a thermostat and AC that didn’t work, and outlets and lights that failed. After pushing to be moved (with a baby and a large amount of luggage), we were finally relocated late at night. The new room was larger, but had the same humidity issue — hardly an upgrade. On the fourth night a dehumidifier was purchased for us and the reading was 85%. The most frustrating part was the hotel’s response. The general manager never bothered to reply, and the front desk manager sent a curt, careless email off his phone that made me feel like I was the problem for pointing out legitimate failures. Instead of accountability, I was dismissed as having “high standards”. At this price point in New York, guests deserve far better. There are countless hotels in this city that actually deliver on comfort, service, and professionalism. I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.

I paid for valet parking but was informed the next morning that I had to walk nearly half a mile with my luggage to retrieve my car due to a street festival. This was never communicated before or during check-in. When I raised the issue, I was told by staff that the manager had authorized a full refund for valet and would follow up with me — but I never received that call. When I followed up again, the Operations Manager reversed the promised refund to a credit and said there was nothing else they could do regarding the noise disturbances from the thin walls, which made it difficult to get any rest or privacy. For a hotel positioned as a luxury property, this level of service and lack of accountability was disappointing. I’ve escalated this to corporate but wanted to share my experience for future guests to be aware.

A Chic SoHo Gem with Unbeatable Location My recent stay at the 11 Howard hotel solidified its spot as a top choice for anyone visiting New York City. While there's plenty to admire about its stylish interiors and impeccable service, what truly sets this hotel apart, for me, is its absolutely prime location. Nestled on Howard Street, the hotel boasts an enviable position that offers the best of both worlds. While it's true you're just a stone's throw from the vibrant energy of Chinatown, this proximity never felt like a drawback. Instead, it offered an interesting cultural counterpoint, with fantastic, authentic dining options just steps away if you're in the mood for something different. However, the real draw for me was its unparalleled access to SoHo. From the moment you step out the door, you're within effortless walking distance of some of the city's most renowned shopping. Whether I was Browse the designer boutiques on Greene Street, exploring the trendsetting shops on Broadway, or discovering unique finds on Mercer Street, everything was incredibly convenient. This made impromptu shopping excursions, or simply enjoying the lively atmosphere of SoHo, an absolute breeze. In a city where location is key, 11 Howard truly delivers. It offers the perfect blend of being tucked away enough for a peaceful night's sleep, yet incredibly connected to the pulse of downtown's best shopping and dining. For anyone seeking a chic and convenient base for exploring SoHo and beyond, 11 Howard comes highly recommended. A Note on Room Size at 11 Howard While there's much to love about the 11 Howard hotel, particularly its unbeatable SoHo location, it's worth noting a significant point of feedback from my stay: the rooms are quite tiny. While beautifully designed and comfortable, the actual space within the rooms felt very limited. For travelers with more than a carry-on, or those who simply appreciate more room to spread out, this could be a considerable drawback. It's something to definitely factor into your decision-making process if spacious accommodations are a priority for your New York City stay.

11 Howard may have been hip in the 90s, but it’s pretty tired now. The room was very clean though noisy, but the furniture there and in common areas was kind of shabby. Front desk people were reasonably nice but we didn’t ask for much. No coffee in the room. They gave us little cards for a free drink but not in the bar—there was a convoluted explanation I was too tired to follow. It’s close to the subway and shopping on Lower Broadway, but also right by Canal St.

The location was great. We were upgraded to the PH which I appreciated because it was a bit larger than the standard room. Older hotels in NYC are small. None of the ice machines on the floors worked. bar prices were very high but we got a coupon for a free drink in the library only which was great.

Honestly, it’s just not that nice. I’ve stayed at much nicer places in the city. The rooms need to be painted and hit with a magic eraser. No water in the rooms. Customer service was meh.

check in... less than professional, no friendly face or hello. it was like i was doing them a favor checking in. Room was not clean, rug was dirty. and furniture pieces broken. I checked out after one night and forfeited my second night to move to another hotel. I would not go there

Great property and overall chic place to stay

Great location to reach the rest of nyc. Room was small but very comfortable. Nice bar on location.

The 11 Howard consistently shines when it comes to cleanliness, leaving no stone unturned to maintain a pristine environment. Coupled with the attractive interior elements, the aesthetic sensibilities and ambiance are genuinely impressive. Most importantly, the hotel ensured unparalleled comfort, allowing me to feel right at home during my stay. I wholeheartedly recommend the 11 Howard Hotel for an unforgettable stay that keeps you coming back for more!
- 5/5
Check in was smooth and quick and the staff member who checked us in was phenomenal and took great care of us! The room was comfy, and romantically decorated. Amazing night’s sleep and quiet from a hard to tell you are in NYC POV.
- 3/5
I honestly struggle to understand how the 11 Howard is part of the 5 stars hotels category. The room was clean but no way to make a coffee or tea inside. The lobby, the corridors and overall the place looks old and dusty. Staff were nice and friendly but despite a 5 stars hotel price, the experience was a 4 stars at most.
- 5/5
11 Howard is one of my favorite places to stay when traveling to NYC. The entire experience is always above average. Being I travel frequently, it’s important to me to be comfortable and safe. The staff is exceptional every time I visit. Great hospitality, amenities and overall aesthetic - fun, inviting and just cool!
- 3/5
Roads all closed around the hotel when I was there so hard to get a taxi with all my luggage and there’s no doorman or anyone to help with luggage or anything like that
- 4/5
All around a great stay because of the location. Only wish there was a little more space to store clothes—tiny closet, much of it taken up by safe and fridge and 2 small drawers. Would prefer a dresser instead of the table.
- 4/5
The rooms are small but similar to many other NY hotels. Staff were helpful and friendly, love the Blond bar and library area. Would have loved a nespresso machine in the room or electric jugs and cups.
- 3/5
For the price per night and “luxury” marketing it was terribly disappointing to stay here one night let alone 3. The room itself was the size of a mouse-trap: I had to shuffle sideways between the beds and desk to get to the bathroom. The walls are so darn thin, we heard everything our neighbors said and did, and I know they heard us too. When did “luxury” get defined by no amenities whatsoever?!? I mean not even cotton balls, q-tips, or a shower cap in the bathroom, let alone slippers and bathrobe! I was so surprised to see an iron and ironing board in the “closet” but where the heck would I have unfolded it to iron my clothes? In the dark and dank hallway?!? As a business traveler, the “library/cafe” was OK but cafe it was not. There are way too many affordable, spacious, and updated hotels in the city to waste $500 a night at this joint as a business traveler. Will not stay here again.
- 3/5
Hotel was average to sub-average. I found the dimly lit hallways and restaurants to present as dirty and unsafe. Would not stay there again as there are far superior hotels for less money. Staff seemed non-chalant, so frankly they could almost do without them there at all…

I had a great stay at 11 Howard. It's in a great neighborhood, quiet part of SoHo, close to some great restaurants like Tyger and Le Cou Cou. I was on the 6th floor, had no spectacular view, and it was quiet. Staff were very nice. Someone was at the door to help me with my luggage and, upon request, staff always provided me with bottled water at the reception. The room was nice and clean. The TV does not have Chromecast, but did have basic cable tv channels and on-demand movies. I'm a fan of Chromecast and the ability to watch Netflix or other apps on the tv. They also did not offer slippers or a vanity set. For the price, I was expecting, at least, make-up remover wipes, cotton balls/pads and/or q-tips. However, they had lotion, conditioner and shampoo and soap, of course. I did order room service once and it was very good and delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, I would stay here again.

Rooms tiny (even an upgrade). Everything extra - not even cotton wool/buds in the room. No coffee machine or robes in room which I would expect for 5* Felt like you were just another faceless punter. Not value for money at all

Loved the location, we walked everywhere. A private event had The Library closed during our stay, otherwise hotel was lovely. Friendly staff and very clean. Great vanity lighting in bathrooms, comfy bed and linens. We will return.

Stayed on a Saturday night on the 6th floor. Could hear full conversation of the people in the room next to us well into the night. Additionally, there is a bar/club on the second floor and we could feel the music from that club in our room.
