New Haven Hotel

Management was very rude but the staff were great and helpful.

It was a better than expected property and stay. I've stayed in the other more expensive hotels in New Haven and this one compares. Perhaps the only difference is it's a couple blocks further from the Yale campus and it does not have a restaurant & bar.

For me, the highlight was the check-in staff and evening desk staff on June 28. They were upbeat, enthusiastic, engaging in a way that made me feel good being in this hotel. For the other two days of my stay the staff was fine, but did not equal the energy and personality of that first day. The room was spacious and fine: bed, shower, work area all good. Very quiet on third floor even though 4 young women moved in next door and street construction went on outside. I didn't hear disturbance from any of it. I didn't use the gym. There was a sign for a restaurant on the second floor, but I never found it. For some reason, I didn't ask about it. Instead I found Kung Fu Kitchen on Orange Street just a few blocks away. Highly recommended. Hotel breakfast (at extra charge) was a huge disappointment, maybe the worst I have ever found in hotels and motels around the country and the world. Consisted of a few types of breakfast sandwiches wrapped in foil dripping wet as though they had just been thawed out. Would I stay here again? Yes, certainly, hoping for that great first-day staff again. And the hotel is easily walkable for things that interest me: Yale University Art Gallery, British Art Gallery, Yale Peabody Museum. And the parking garage across the street is conveniently located and connected by an above-street walkway if you need it.

You use your room key to enter and exit. Great location, near all the famous bars and Apizza stops ! We really enjoyed our time in New Haven. We definitely would stay in the same hotel !! I do wish breakfast was included, as it was a little tricky to find a sitdown place for breakfast.

The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and parking was easy and safe.

Great value, nice place. Great location for music venues and restaurants. Parking ($25) was was close and convenient but garage is tight for bigger vehicles.

The thing with my stay is, both beds each has around 2-3 human hairs under the sheet, that is not very comfortable right, but since we went to bed kinda late, there is really no energy to complain or switch the room

This was a great find for the price. Good location in a safe part of town with plenty of parking. Very clean and nice inside. I needed a room for one night in a business trip and booked it for the price and location but Was pleasantly surprised with how nice it was

If you want to hear the neighboring rooms toilet flush and conversations, this is the hotel for you! You can hear everything the other room is doing, even if they aren’t being loud. The most annoying was hearing everyone’s toilet flushing. The shower dripped and night and you have to pay for parking across the street. For the cost of the hotel, I was not impressed.

I was extremely pleased with my stay at New Haven Hotel. The staff were EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating even with my having several request with room location and other things. They even let us use an empty small conference room to play a board game with friends one night. The room was spacious and clean. I read in other reviews and was told by the front desk that the A/C is motion activated so turns off when you leave which worried me if it would shut off when sleeping, but we had no issues. It never shut off at night or even during the day for us. We always came back and slept in a very cool room. The location is right downtown New Haven meaning the one day we just wanted to walk around town and the Yale campus we did not even get in the car at all. The parking garage was easy in/out access with fair if not a little pricey parking. I will say the garage has some tighter turns that I am used to in garages where I am from. We navigated them fine in a mid-size SUV, but would not have wanted to be in something bigger. Overall a fantastic stay!

New Haven Hotel is a great choice if you want to be close to the Yale campus, lots of restaurants, the Shubert Theater, etc. My room was spacious and the front desk staff were incredibly helpful. The room could have been cleaner - housekeeping was a bit haphazard - but that is my only complaint. I would happily stay here on my next visit to New Haven.
