Had 2 rooms booked, was to be adjoining. They were around the building away from each other. The bathroom sliding door situation was ridiculous. The toliet room is where a door should be. Should have been discounted rate with the construction going on that was not disclosed when reserved room in January. The valet parking price went up but we should be in for old price since room was book prior to January 25. Best part was the staff. Mrs. Gwen I think was her name was very nice and helpful. There was another young lady who helped us later in the day that was nice too.

I didn’t eat breakfast there so I can’t rate it, but it’s really nice having the breakfast available. Initially, I was put into a room on the first floor, which I did not feel comfortable with because the windows faced the street, but they quickly moved me to the third floor. The room was updated and clean and nice.

Most staff friendly. Room was basic but ok. Cleanliness of room not great - long dark hair EVERYWHERE particularly in the bathroom (I'm blonde) We stayed 4 nights. On 3rd night we asked for fresh towels and room to be made up which housekeeping smiled and said yes but never came. Breakfast staff lovely but unfortunately we found breakfast poor. Chewy bacon/rubbery pancakes etc.. Great hotel location to explore and a short walking distance to broadway.

This place is good overall if you want to be very close to the downtown or you’re going to the Ryman, and you don’t want to break the bank. Breakfast was ok, it’s free and many hotels downtown don’t do it at all, so there’s that. The elevator in the lobby wasn’t working.

Breakfast was very good and seemed to be enjoyed by many. The very first thing I noticed when we checked in was when I went to take a hot bath, there was no hot water in the warm water just barely trickled out of the faucet. That to me was not good. Other than that, everything seemed to be good.

The location was perfect to attend a concert at Nissian Stadium. The staff was friendly. Understanding Nashville is a party town gave the other patrons reasonable amount of time to go to their rooms even though intoxicated. We all have had those nights out having a grand time and I get being loud trying to get into the room but this was all night. I waited an hour before the first call. Had to call the front desk twice to get security to come tell the other people who were all talking in the hallway and slamming doors once at 1am and once at 2am. Did not stop there it was all night long. Please know the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything and I mean everything. The lobby elevator was down had to use the outdoor elevator. The valet parking takes forever to drop off and pick up. The beds squeak every time you move. If you want to sleep at all would never recommend this hotel.

We were directed outside behind the parking area to take the elevator to our floor due to renovations. That was a little strange but didn't really affect our overall stay. The area is very walkable and not far from the action of Broadway, but far enough for the room to be peaceful for a city hotel (bearing in mind there is still city "noise" but not unbearable noise. Source: former city dweller who now lives in quiet countryside). Would stay again.

For as much as I paid for the room I would expect a little better quality. External doors which I may have missed in the description. Bathroom door did not close all the way and shower head was broken. I get that it is in a high demand area but the quality of the room was on par with a Red Roof. When I checked in and checked out the clerks at the front desk were on their phones. Redeeming factor is the place was close to the municipal auditorium and walking distance to most things downtown. There are way nicer places downtown around the same price point.

N/A On Monday 1/19, my trip to Dallas was canceled due to the impending winter storm. A state of emergency was declared in Texas. I followed Booking.com’s process to request waiver of the cancellation fee for reservation 5483656200 from Capitol Hotel Downtown in Nashville. There was no response. Next, I followed the process to contact the hotel directly. Again there was no response. I did however receive an email that there was work happening in the parking lot. I tried one more time and did not receive a reply. I finally received a reply from the hotel on 1/23 directing me to contact Booking.com. Booking.com pointed me back to the hotel, which said the room was not refundable, sorry for the inconvenience. I fully own that I made a nonrefundable reservation. However, given the state of emergency, some service-oriented human intervention would have been appreciated. Even a partial cancellation penalty. Of the seven people in my travel party with various reservations, all but Ascend provided an exception and courtesy cancellation under the extraordinary circumstances.

We had to call the hotel twice to find out valet parking only but they had the cars blocking the entrance so had to go around the block 3 times before some came out to move them so we could pull in to get valet parking. They were not busy, the staff was sitting around and o one would help us. The front desk person wanted us to go find a valet person to give our keys to but no one was around. Room was clean and updated. Hotel has a unique layout, as it used to be a motel, I believe, and still has some of those characteristics. It was loud at night due to the concrete walkway right outside our door. Breakfast area has a nice setup with great variety. Parking fees are annoying, but they are everywhere in this part of town. I would stay here again, but my expectations were a bit too high, possibly.

I looked at pictures before booking and when I got there it wasn’t anything unexpected.. first off it like a motel style the rooms are entered from outside.. the room was clean but it was just ok my wife absolutely hated the bed it was uncomfortable. The breakfast was the same everyday.. stopped going after the second morning of my four night stay.. I have to say they have a great staff everyone was great! But i would overall never stay there again..

I am still trying to receive a refund for overcharged parking. I noticed an excessive charge on my credit card statement and for the last three weeks have made numerous phone calls to both the hotel and PMC parking with no results. I am getting the “run-around.” I have a feeling they do this to all customers, hoping they don’t notice the excessive charge.

I stayed in their newest building (Units ending 27 or higher, ex., I was in 428) and it was a really nice space, was clean and modern, bed was comfortable. The included breakfast on the 2nd floor was pretty similar to mid-tier hotel brands, I particularly enjoyed their bacon (not over or undercooked) and it was never close to running out of anything, the breakfast attendant was really on top of it. Front desk was kind during a very stressful time (Winter Storm Fern), valet was responsive. It was a really good experience and I would recommend it to others. Also super convenient to everything downtown, I had pizza at Roberta's a block away and BBQ at Puckett's two blocks away and they were both very good, easy walk to both.

Once I got over that this is a motel with some hotel amenities (valet, bar/restaurant), it was fine. The room looked new and was warm (stayed during ice storm). The staff was really great too. I didn’t love that any time a valet or housekeeping cart rolled by it sounded like a Sherman tank coming through the wall. But for the price it was fine.

Poor customer service and untrustworthy! I was lied to and overcharged for parking. I called prior to booking to ask if they charge for parking. I was told they do not charge for parking. So I chose to book here instead of a hotel only 5 miles away where parking is free. Then when I arrived I was told I would be charged an outrageous amount per day for valet parking and that there was no self parking option. They told me to contact the manager by email, but I never received a reply or a resolution. I was forced to pay for parking access for two days, but instead of the amount they told me I would be charged, the actual bill to my credit card was even higher. I will never rebook at a hotel I can't trust with my credit card, and especially not one that lies just to get people to book.

This is a no-frills hotel that shows its age. Water pressure was very low, and the plumbing made loud squealing noises during showers. Access to the elevator requires going outside the lobby, which felt inconvenient and somewhat unsafe. The bed frame was very squeaky, and sound traveled easily through the walls due to poor insulation. The restaurant/bar was empty with zero customers.

First, it is quite insulting to have an elevator in the lobby but make your guests use the outside elevator to get to their rooms. Our room keys did not work. After returning to the reception desk twice we were given another room. The rooms are so small I had to get into and out of bed by crawling from the foot of the bed. Bathroom was very outdated and had no door separation from vanity to tub area. Staff were not friendly. Won’t book again. That said, beds slept well.

Security guard needed. Did not escort us to “the new outside elevator” for guests - as the indoor one was for staff only. We felt very unsafe late at night. Stairwells were not secure. Room was dated and beds were awful - hard and cheap. They use 1/2 pillows. Actual room was nothing like picture. Staff was friendly enough but annoyed despite me being very polite about situation. Only stayed arrival night because it was too late to get another hotel. Did not eat there. Probably good for young adults on budget that aren’t worried about safety and comfort as much. Location very close to nightlife but just far enough away to have lurking people in parking lot we had to walk through to get to new elevator

Don’t ever use Expedia. Our room was so small, we couldn’t even walk around without bumping into each other and furniture. The bathroom didn’t have its own door. It was just a sliding door outside the sink. We hated it, so we went to check out the next day, but because we booked through Expedia, the hotel said we couldn’t just cancel the next two days. Sure enough- Expedia charged us for three days, even though we only stayed one, and good luck trying to get ahold of anyone at Expedia to take the charge off. We should have learned our lesson when we stayed at a hotel in Myrtle Beach. The room was dirty, and we asked to upgrade it, but because we booked through Expedia, the staff said they couldn’t help us. Lesson- NEVER use Expedia.

Also, the customer service was motel-level as well. Not that the people were rude per se, but our first couple of experiences were off-putting, unprofessional, and even, a little abrasive. Yes, you save some money comparatively to the surrounding hotels, and it is in a very walkable location, but I wouldn’t stay there again. I’d pay the extra $100 to stay somewhere else. Although the room was seemingly clean, when they came to freshen up the room the second night, no one made the beds, nor did they provide enough washcloths, and towels in the restocking. It may not seem like a big deal but when you were paying $270 a night, things like that matter.

Their location is pretty decent to Broadway. If you are looking to save money on sleeping arrangements, this is it! We felt safe there and the valet staff was great. The bathroom door was a bit inconvenient and out of the ordinary. That was the biggest drawback for me. The hotel is more of a motel, with guests taking an elevator in the garage to their rooms though there is one in the lobby, -maintenance only. Upstairs all doors open to an OUTDOOR hallway. If your room is above the garage, expect noise! Rooms are nice at 1st glance but shabby upon inspection, see photos. My room got humid & I think often -see the rust on the lamp. They did something when asked & that fixed the problem. The floors were dirty. Noticed my feet in the shower, so wore socks, you can see how dirty they got. Breakfast is excellent. The employees were the best of the experience. The PM woman tending bar & front desk was great, so was the woman at the front desk in the day, they made me feel very welcome. Leaving it got bad. The young woman was great, offered to stow my bag since my plane was later. I came back for it & asked if could change into jeans ready in my backpack for my flight & she said the restroom. I locked the door & as I was changing, a man diid not knock & used a key to get in, knocking over my suitcase & blocked his way. He yelled and told me to get out it was a public restroom. I explained. He yelled more. I asked who he was. The owner. I said I had a good experience until then & would give a review. He said he would respond back I was acting like a 6 yr old. He yelled at the clerk as I left not to not let guests change there for my show. May be the owner, but I was a paying guest.

The street noise is extremely noticeable and anyone walking by to get to their rooms are also impossible to ignore, even at regular conversation volume. The elevator is completely detached from the check-in area. Parking is forced valet parking at $35 per night. The staff were decently friendly. There was a small coffee maker and a fridge that leaked all inside the cubby hole it was shoved into but no microwave. The bathroom is only separated from the rest of the room by a sliding barn door style partition. While there were thankfully no roaches to be seen inside of our room, a handful were seen skittering along the walkways coming home at night after the show. The one huge plus was the air conditioning unit, that thing was great. We wouldn't choose to stay here again knowing that it's a motel format instead of all indoors hotel but for the stay we did have, it was resolutely average and unremarkable.

Great location walking distance to downtown, a little noisy in the mornings, very nice valet staff, breakfast was okay, kind of had a scary motel vibe but ended up being pretty good.

Our stay was great. The only thing that kept me from giving a 5 star rating was the age of the hotel. It does have outside access to the rooms and they were very dated. Other than that, it was as nice as they could be given the age of the rooms.

My main complaint is being rushed at valet and having to carry all of the bags while trying to check in and make my way to the room. Nothing to put bags on to help with transport or time to figure things out.

Also, if you need a ride, I would recommend Daniel from Acenashville Transportation. He is very well dressed, friendly, personnable and prompt with pick up times and gets you to your destination on time. The hotel can help you with that

I could not tell from the pictures advertised that this was an old converted motel. I spent a lot of money on a roadside motel basically. Walk up outdoor old fashion motel. Room was comfortable. Staff was very accommodating and no concerns there. I just would not have booked this place if I knew what it actually was. Especially for what I paid.

I was disappointed upon arrival due to the condition of the hotel. The photographer did a great job making the hotel look better than it really is. The elevators and hallway being outside was not ideal making your room kind of hard to keep cool. Also the exposed hallway allowed for you to hear ALL street noise. I’m also not a fan due to a lack of security with the street exposed hallways. Think red roof inn feel with a big city rate.

The rooms were clean but they are tiny. The towels in the room are so thin and non absorbent. The beds were uncomfortable. Some of the info Expedia has listed is false for this hotel. It says you get a free cooked to order breakfast but it was just your basic continental. One of the biscuits I took had mold on it. This is more of a motel with outside doors going to your room and cement hallways. The pictures of the hotel make the property look much nicer than it is.

Felt very unsafe and not very clean in or around property. Check in staff not very friendly. Parking attendant not present for a long period of time upon arrival,so our vehicle just sat with keys in ignition for at least 30 minutes or longer. Had to sit and watch vehicle until someone came to park it because i was not comfortable leaving it. And had to pay the valet fee on top of that. No other choices for this hotel for parking. Will never return to this hotel

Broadway wasn’t too far away, getting to Broadway wasn’t hard. Coming back to the hotel there is a bit of an incline. The room was clean but small, valet parking only and an extra $65. The first valet guy we had checking in was very rude. At check out different valet; he was fabulous and nice. Overall not bad.

Awful customer service. Dirty room, definitely not cleaned from the last reservation. Slept on top of the covers bc a refund wasn’t possible. Do yourself a favor and stay across the street at a different hotel. Literal trash and someone else’s pills in the floor. The soap bottles in the shower were empty from the last person. There was also a spider on the pillow. It’s one of the noisiest locations I have ever stayed in Nash. Needless to stay we were misled by the clean pics but don’t be bamboozled…this is a 70s motel with its outside doors and a paint job and cheap vinyl flooring as their upgrades. We got skewered by the price hike on a hot weekend. This is a negative rating motel at best.

The parking is a sham and a scam. Valet only and cost me $131.00 for 4 days. They lost my car key once which delayed us 30 minutes. Rooms were old and access was dirty. We could here all the traffic outside and balcony voices and neighbor roo voices. Regret switching from mainstream hotel chain. Walking in/around from Broadway not safe at night. Spent another $60 on ubers to get back each night. Twice there was no valet attendant when we arrived late in the evening.

Nice staff. Pictures of room were very deceiving, a lot smaller than the pictures. The sink in the bathroom drained very slowly, at least a minute to drain each time used. The door to the outside didn’t seal correctly so the wind would move the door a lot.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! They absolute worst!!! We were put in a room that had the vibe of a motel 6. Smelled of cigarettes, alcohol and sweat. Like someone partied in it for a week without being cleaned. We got in very late, stayed the night and immeadiately checked out the following morning. Made us all sick to our stomach to even be in the room. We asked that the $900 for the four nights be refunded, less the evening we stayed because we felt that seemed fair. They said it had to be done through Expedia since we booked through them. The did not offer another room, compensation or credit. They stated the were at capacity (didnt believe them) . After reaching out to Expedia, which verified all of the info including our booking with another hotel the next morning, the staff at the Capital Hotel lied just so they could keep the booking payments. I spent over an hour on a live chat with Expedia and they stated it was the hotels responsibility. Expedia did verify that it all happened, they verified the early check out form I was provided from the Capital Hotel and even confirmed that we did book another hotel the next morning. They informed us that Capital Hotel refuses to refund or credit us in anyway! We travel to the Nashville area 6-8 times a year and have never had an expierence like this with any hotel! Guess they have lost their Tennessee way and put profit over people! There are so many other reputible hotels surrounding this one there would never be a reason to stay here!!

We stayed here for the convenience of location. Absolutely not worth the money. The walls are paper thin to the point you can hear the room next to you unzipping the suitcases. The pillows are about 10x10, when asked for a standard size pillow they said they don’t have any. The outside walls were just as thin as indoors. Definitely not a peaceful night sleep, especially come 2-3AM. The only positive thing was the breakfast.

I must say this has to have been one of the worst hotel bookings I’ve ever had from Expedia. I feel catfished off the listing. For starters the lobby is old, tiny, and dingy. This also where you won’t be greeted, and receive poor customer service. The front desk employees would mumble to me, then speak clearly to the colleague next to them in another language. The elevator was inconveniently located. The walls were paper thin causing us to hear everything not only in the next room, but every single car that passed by. We heard police sirens and construction work all hours of the night making it difficult to sleep. The beds felt as if they were made of cardboard with the loudest crumpling noises with every reposition on the bed. The room itself was super tight and not the easiest to walk around. The room also had poor circulation making it cold next to the air conditioner and hot on the other side of the room. Honestly shocked this hotel isn’t considered a motel with the quality of experience our stay was.

Older exterior but completely refurbished interior. Odd layout - rooms are entered from the outside balcony/walkway, which is only accessible via key card elevator
