Pros: I appreciated that I could park right in front of my door. Everyone that I came in contact with that works there were very nice. My room was relatively dirty. Sheets, blankets, and pillows were clean, just pretty worn out. Cons: As I walked around my room for a moment without shoes or socks on, I noticed the grittiness. The bottoms of my feet were black within minutes of walking. There were several places where there was putty on the walls to patch things that weren’t sanded or painted. There were rips and holes in the curtains that covered the window. And there was hair, bugs and debris collected around the borders & corners of the room. There was also what appeared to be a crack pipe on the sidewalk as I walked to my car. Overall: Served its purpose. Could have been better but could have also been worse.

This hotel should not be in business honestly. So much so that I reported this hotel for the conditions of both rooms. It is way worse than any of the pictures or description and if I were one of these musicians/celebrities being used as bait to get money, I'd sue this place because I would not want to be associated with a place like this! It is run down and full of what appeared to be homeless and/or drug addicts. The room we reserved was not cleaned when we arrived at check in time and people were coming in and out of it so we went to the front desk and was told it would be at least 45 minutes until someone would be able to clean it. We were there for a concert and were on a timeline. You would think the logical option would be to upgrade or at the very least find a different room for the already paid customer but no, they did not offer anything so I asked if I could upgrade to which she said I could "upgrade" from a double bed to a single bed for an extra $27. Thankfully I brought an extra set of blankets and pillows because the beds appeared to be 30 years old that came from a brothel. Mold in various places as well. I'd say a lot of bad things happen there from how many screams we heard and the TV's on full blast in multiple rooms the entire stay. I have nothing positive to say about our stay at this hotel unfortunately. Even the saying "you get what you pay for" isn't relevant for this property.

The second room he let me look at was better but the shower had not been cleaned in forever. Thank goodness did not have to take a shower. Floors had not been slept. No coffee maker. Curtain did not close all the way and had to put part of the curtain in the door and close it to have privacy. They need to lower their prices. Not worth $100.

The overall staff of the property were so nice and friendly. The area was decent, a lot of people randomly walk through (apartments next door, kinda sketchy). Staff did warn us not to walk around at night. So that was nice heads up. It does offer seating areas to hang out and be out in the nice weather, good lighting. Nice parking. Super close to broadway which was the reasoning for booking for prices on Ubers there and back, honestly not terrible. Now I know this is an older motel but our room wasn’t the greatest. Our friends room (newly updated) was way better! Our room however looked like the door was kicked in at one time, had a huge open gap under the door itself. With that being said DEAD little outside bugs around, nothing living (a plus). But expected. The sheets were clean but stained in areas, no bedbugs. The room definitely could use some updating and painting and a good clean but it is vintage. The fridge worked but had water in the bottom of it. Didn’t use the tv. Mainly just a place to sleep and shower. Overall reasonable for the price for a quick trip to Nashville for a night of drinking.

We stayed here before and knew what to expect, it is what you pay for. All of the plugs were loose but not the loosest thing at the hotel. Walls and floors were filthy and need redone, at very leash a wash, fridge was dirty, bathroom door didn’t close, ambulance in parking lot early in morning with sirens on, cable went out in middle of night so all you could hear were the noise from the busy road outside. Sign was working this time though and looked great! Staff are super friendly and helpful but management needs to invest some money in restoring this property because it does have potential

We planned for two nights but cut it short. Our room was filthy and without electricity everywhere but the bathroom. They moved us to a different room that had the window boarded up, tons of dead cockroaches, and at least once living cockroach crawling around the floor, walls and ceiling, so we left.

I went for a semi-clean room (knowing I wasn't booking a Hilton property) that was close to Broadway. However, "semi-clean" was actually disgustingly dirty -- floors, bed sheets, bath towels, bathroom (yuck), walls, ceiling... you name it, it was dirty. Add to that, we wanted to quickly warm some food in the microwave, but we could not open it, realizing it wasn't plugged in. No big deal, we had to move it to the floor next to an outlet and then plugged it in. Immediately it started running... with a styrofoam container inside. How long was that in there?! We unplugged it and left it on the floor. I'm not naive when booking these less expensive (cheap) places, knowing I'm getting something much less fancy than high-end properties; however, I do expect a CLEAN room -- even if the water is look warm at times and the counters are a tad dusty. This room was next level gross and had me rethinking spending a little money next time and going for something nicer and certainly cleaner. I will say, the front end guy was nice enough and the water was definitely hot. The bed mattresses weren't horrible either. Thanks for the opportunity, Drake Motel, but I'm one and done with you guys.

The location is convenient, walkable shops and restaurants, bus routes nearby. It's affordable if you just need a place to stay for the basics, don't expect luxury at all or a perfect room. A lot of the lamps didn't have bulbs, but they gave me a few. Staff are pretty decent. Rooms could be cleaner. They seem to have some random woman they came across rushing to clean the rooms, but she's nice. The hot tub was what I needed, so it was kind of expensive for the type of hotel it is for that specific room, but the other rooms are more affordable. A certain caliber of people seem to stay there because it's affordable.

We stayed in the hottub room. The bad: 1) There are water stains on the ceiling. 2) There is a plastic bag over the smoke alarm??? 3) All the the plugs in the room were too loose to hold a phone charger 4) The bathtub was missing the overflow cover 5) Bad over paint job 6) The noise from the traffic was loud 7) The trains seem to run all night and blare thier horns. The good: 1) Previous reviews said the area wasn't good. we had no issues with the area 2) 1 bus to downtown 3) friendly staff 4) staff was very accommodating 5) The rooms gets fresh towels every day even though it's a lower price place. 6) On site laundry and vending machines 7) Price in the vending machine was very reasonable. I would still stay here again based on price.

You get what you pay for. Lamps didn’t have shades or bulbs. Light switches everywhere but turned on nothing. Smoke detector on wall was covered with a plastic bag. All outlet covers were hanging off the wall with loose sockets so nothing could be plugged in. I usually book cheap accommodation when travelling - preference to save the money as I’m out most of the day anyway, safety being my main thing over cleanliness etc. At £55/$70 a night only 10 mins from Downtown Nashville, overall I would say I had pretty good value. Value is the key word though - the motel itself isn’t great and gets away with it with me because of the low cost. You get what you pay for. The rooms aren’t clean - they’re tidy but the dust, the holes in the curtains and towels, broken lamp, and general dirt is not nice at all. If cleanliness is your thing, maybe avoid. No cockroaches spotted on my stay but I can imagine those who claim they have aren’t lying. Staff were friendly throughout, although limited experience beyond checking in and out. Safety… well… when in the room I felt fine. The first few days I would get a bus to downtown and back to save costs on Ubers. However… WARNING: The area is not safe. On my fourth night, I got a bus back around 9pm in the dark and literally on the corner two men tried to lure me into an alleyway with a cry for help - luckily I am confident and street smart enough to have convinced them I’d be back in 2 mins to help, but those less quick thinking or less confident would likely have had the beating and robbing I was in for. DO NOT WALK THE STREET AT NIGHT EVEN FOR A QUICK MCDONALDS

When we checked into our room there were three large dead (luckily) cockroaches on our floor. One by the trash can and two more - legs up - in the middle of both the bathroom and the main room. A simple walk through before check in would have taken care of that. The air con barely worked. I set the temperature at check in (4-ish) to 63 degrees to take away from the near 90 degrees outside more than six hours later (returning from a concert at after midnight) - the room was still warm. We had to sleep on top of the sheets to be able to sleep. Hotel lamp switches didn't work - it was always on. With no lampshade - you had to screw the lone lightbulb in to get any additional light and then unscrew a extremely hot light bulb to turn the light off. The plug was deep behind the middle of the bed. The plugs for charging in the lamp base - didn't work. We found plugs by the desk to charge. Curtains were old and starting to ruin - hanging from missing curtain hooks. Floor was so dirty (thank god it wasn't carpet) - My feet got dirty walking from the shower to the bed to put my socks on. I went and got new towels and used a towel to stand on the next morning after my shower to ensure my feet stayed clean. I will be posting reviews with pictures on other sites.

    1. Friendly and helpful staff 2. Very convenient location that is not far from the airport and the Grand Ole Opry. It is also on a bus line that runs frequently to the downtown area. Bus fare is quite reasonable: $2 for adults and $1 for seniors. On the negative side: Our first room was a mess, with 3 dead roaches, no means to hang clothes, limited space for folded clothes, and it looked nothing like the rooms shown on Hotels.com. After complaining to the office, we were assigned a different room. It was better, but not as represented on Hotels.com. 1. The head part of the mattress declined about 10 inches; so when getting into bed, your head tilted down and back. Hardly comfortable. 2. The shower floor was tiled in stones, which was very uncomfortabe. One felt like you were walking on a stony beach. 3. We were told they were in the process of renevation.

I was looking for a traditional American motel experience and I guess I kind of got it. Drake Inn was clean however the property was very tired, holes in the curtains, wires hanging over door frames, TV didn’t work, smelt very strongly of cigarettes and was in a very unsavoury area! I had 3 night booked but only stayed for 2 as I was advised by various locals it’s not somewhere I should be staying as a solo traveller. Location was only 10mins from downtown but not safe.

When arrived there was homeless people sleeping on the sidewalks in fount of the hotel. We tried to talk to the lady at the front desk she was very rude. They told us to come back in a hour they were busy. The house keepers were outside arguing with each other. The doors fro the rooms were open and the rooms looked filthy. We left as we were a half a block away there was a group of middle aged people walking down the middle of the road yelling and cussing at all the cars driving by. On the corner there were a group of people fighting. We went back to the hotel again the lady’s at the front desk was unhelpful and stated they were busy. At this point I told the lady’s at the desk we did not feel safe staying here. Her response was you will still have to pay for your stay. I told her I would rather pay for the stay than to stay somewhere people were rude and unhelpful. And that our safety is more important than money. My husband and myself then left and never went back. I do not recommend this place to my worse enemy.

I knew going in that we were booking a cheap hotel and expected it to be a bit run down but this was by far the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in. The bed and towels were the only part of the room I would say was clean. Walls had liquid stains all down them, doors were visibly dirty, light switches were dirty, lamp was burnt out and had no shade. Bathtub was literally cracked. We saw some rooms that appeared cleaner but they were booked. Entirely property was run down, pool wasn’t up until end of May so no pool. Sign burnt out. Homeless people all over the property. Floors were dirty, freezer in fridge had all kinds of gunk in it. Door to room was falling apart at the bottom and no sealed properly so spaces all around the door. The only “nice” part was the girl at the front desk when we checked in was super friendly

Well it all started with them giving us the wrong room because they gave our room to somebody else even though ours was reserved. They didn't care that they did this and let us sleep on what I believe was a full size mattress when we are supposed to have a game. She is disabled I am permanently disabled as well and as a disabled veteran I don't appreciate the lack of concern. The ID they have on file or had was my department of defense ID. So it's not like they didn't know. Then we got to our lovely room. Which hadn't been dusted or cleaned and God knows how long it barely had a comforter which was not even worth calling a cover it was more like a dust cover with one sheet and two pillows. The rock hard mattress made sleeping even more difficult. Overall this is probably one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. And I have traveled quite a bit through the military and delivering furniture at one point 12 years in the Army you stay in a couple hotels if you catch my drift. Frankly dirty would have been an upgrade I'm surprised there weren't roaches crawling up the walls. When I looked up the hotel it made it sound like it was close to downtown so I was assuming apparently incorrectly at the hotel would be decent and in a decent neighborhood however we were in what I would refer to as the ghetto most people would too as well I would assume. I can't give them anything lower than one star unfortunately so I gave them one stars on everything.

Let's start with the staff, they were actually nice and courteous. The room reaked of cigarettes. The beds belonged in a dumpster. Door was filthy, electrical panel was loose, black mold in the bathroom. Other guests were loud. AC was filthy. RM 201. I emailed the health dept to file a claim. I would appreciate a refund for being misled into thinking this was a decent place. I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to rent a room full of health and safety violations.

Walked into the hotel room there was cigarette burns all over the comforters the beds frame was made from 2x4. Floor was coming up and wholes in the flooring. The light switches look like they had not been cleaned in 10 years. Walls looked like a murder scene or dirt and idk what else. Room had a musky, wet smell. Didn’t even walk in to bathroom to check. Outside the hotel you have many people that asked for money and honestly, they look like they were on drugs. This place needs to be shut down! Would have taken pictures to put on here but didn’t want to stay in that room any longer the I did.

First of all they charged me more than my booking price on Expedia. Secondly, they gave me a DIRTY ROOM THAT HAD WATER LEAKING FROM BEHIND THE BED AND NEVER OFFERED ME A NEW ROOM. Employees were SOOOO rude to the poor maintenance guy. Bossing him around talking at him. The sink in the bathroom was coming off the wall. My shower head was hanging from the wall I thought it was going to fall on me. Outlets didn’t work and were also coming out of the wall which is a huge safety hazard. Third of all, they have loud music playing at the pool all night long which was right outside of my room and I could not sleep. This was overall the worst, most disgusting run town motel I have ever seen. They should be ashamed to be open for business and Expedia should remove them from their website. Absolutely disgusting excuse for a motel and a disgrace to Nashville’s name.

Already reviewed this but since Wotif keeps bugging to do again I'll reiterate, it was a great comfortable place to stay. Sure the floors and other areas could do with a good deep clean then maybe a coat of paint on the walls, but hey they'd then be able to charge more so was glad they didn't as otherwise with no backpacker hostels in Nashville I wouldn't have had anywhere this good to stay. the room smelled like stale cigarettes and mildew. we walked in and there was a cigarette butt on the floor by the bed. checked the bed for bugs and didn’t see any signs but the mattress was stained and there was reddish brown (hopefully not blood) stains on the bedframe itself. there was a picture frame on the wall that the glass was cracked. there was a questionable liquid stain on the window curtain (if ya catch my drift). splatters of only god knows what all over the walls. hair all inside the shower on the walls. none of the mirrors had been wiped down or cleaned. there were 2 washcloths and 2 towels (floor mat size, not full body or big enough to even wrap around a body) so my boyfriend asked if we could have a couple more to use for our hair, body and to keep one on the floor outside the shower as a mat and we were told no we could only use what was in there so we ended up going to Walmart to buy some towel to use. there were cigarette burns in the sheets and the pillows smelled awful. seemed like a cute place online which is why i booked it (and being the most affordable for the weekend which is crazy because it was still $230 for 2 nights) but was quickly turned off once we opened the door to the room. came in town for the Vikings game and thank god we were only sleeping there. i’d definitely book elsewhere unless you are absolutely desperate for a place and have no other options. i don’t think any of my pics need a description as they speak for themselves…

I will start with the short list of pros. It was cheap and close to Broadway. That’s it. The cons are the rooms are in dire need of many many repairs. Bed was stiff, sheets were itchy and questionable cleanliness. Pillows were pancakes, bath towels were literally thread bare. I’m almost positive our floor hadn’t been mopped in at least 6 months or more. Underneath the bed had dead roaches, used prophylactics wrappers, among food wrappers. Our sink was literally hanging off the bathroom wall. Gaps around the door, smelled of decades old smoke and mildew. We stayed in a king size room 132 to be exact. My mom stayed in a double room with my grandma and we both had similar experiences. We only stayed 1 night. Will not be back unless it’s HEAVILY REMODELED and repaired. To be honest the hotel is condemnable condition in my opinion. If you want cheap….you’re definitely gonna get it here. But you certainly won’t get clean or comfortable.

The room was nice enough, and the beds were very comfortable. However, there were some negatives as well..1)water in the sink backed up and didn't want to go down..2) the commode wasn't bolted down good, so it would rock from side to side while you were on it..3)the floors were absolutely filthy because our feet were completely black..4) there was also at least a 2" gap under the outside door that a snake, rat, or?? could come in. It wasn't that bad for the price, but with a few repairs it could be really good.

Check in was great. Staff was super nice…. They tried renovating the room (new beds, dresser, night stand, floors). Don’t walk around bare foot though. Knew we’d be wearing sandals/slippers soon as we got there. Bed was clean and new it seemed. So were the sheets, blankets and pillows. Though it was a queen sized frame with a full size mattress. So you slammed your leg/shin/knee/ankle getting in and off it cause there’s gaps between the frame and mattress. And other people dropped things in so under the bed is filthy if you look down…. Sitting on the toilet noticed feces in the floor tile grout and on the back of the door…. Fridge worked properly. Fridge and microwave were spotless (clean)…. People definitely live there. But they were quiet, and friendly. Didn’t feel unsafe at all…. There’s a laundry room, but we didn’t go in it or use it. Locals were doing their laundry so I assume it works.

If all you're looking for a reasonably priced motel near downtown Nashville the Drake may be for you. It has been updated but make no mistake this is a no frills place. The floors have been updated and there are new locks on the doors. The linens/towels are low end. Other updates are lacking, especially ac units and overall fit and finishes. We didnt use it but the pool and adjacent barbecue area looked really nice. The staff is generally friendly and helpful.

Historic and retro, it was a cute motel.

Only 2 outlets worked in the entire room. Towels felt like sand paper. Lighting is terrible. No trashcan in bathroom. Charged me a deposit then still paid full price for room.

Door had been kicked in and poorly reattached. Huge gap under door. Lights inop, bulb missing, outlets work out so so could not recharge my phone. Horrible cigarette smell, smallest towels I have ever had, no daily room servicing, shower filthy, toiled loose, dirt and clutter on floor. Survived my 3 night stay with only 2 bed bug bites. Glad I was traveling solo so I didn’t have to worry about the safety and well being of someone else.

Rheaked of cigarette smoke. We paid for one night because we had to, but we never stayed.

Pictures did not match the state of the room or hotel. Pool was green.... Everything was pretty much in disrepair. Bed was tolerable and tv sort of worked .

Liked the history of the property and convenience to downtown. The night staff at the lobby desk were nice. Just place was very dated and needed work. No light covers over plugs on my side of bed. Found dead roaches behind end tables and under bed. 2 giant ones that were still alive on the bathroom shower curtain.

It's a quirky old motel but you can tell they have been updating the rooms. All the staff was really friendly and helpful and right on the bus line to get downtown so worked really well.

Enjoyed our stay. It is old and has more than a few blemishes. You go with that in mind and you can enjoy the history. It was clean and the front desk was super friendly. The beds were a little hard and the sheets had seen better days. I would say there again.

Wasn't a great place to stay imo. The facility was dated, my curtain had a tear/hole, ac unit is loud, room small, bathroom felt very old. Price was cheap, relatively close to downtown though, and it didn't feel like a dangerous neighborhood.

It was grubby and poorly maintained (some electrical outlets missing covers, hard beds, cracks in walls) and a great deal of noise from other patrons.

Disgusting. The room had huge cracks in the walls and ceiling for scabies to come through, The pool was green with algae, thick dirt, and large amounts of scum floating on top. The front desk tried to deny me enough towels for a family of four to shower. No working coffee pot. They house the released convicted rapist and child molesters. Saves yourself the headache don’t stay there!!

Its an old fashioned motel so be aware. The room wasn't in the best condition. However, it was doable for a night or two.

The management did not address our concerns when we checked in. The hot tub was dirty and disgusting. There were absolutely dirty filthy towels that were folded up and placed for reuse, the Television didn't work and several building code violations throughout including exposed /incomplete electrical wiring. I went to the front desk and asked for corrections and was assured it would be addressed while we went out for dinner. It was not and when we came back I was told they had nobody to correct anything. We went to sleep in disgust, did not shower and went to speak with the manager in the morning. The staff agreed all of the items were unacceptable and told me that I was the one who broke the TV and dirtied the towels- until he realized I was recording in anticipation of his reaction. He then directed me to speak with the maanager "Jig" at 11am by phone. Surprise, no manager available. I called back at 3 and asked for Jig again and then he hung up on me. He then refused to pick up the phone. I wasnt seeking a credit or refund. I just wanted these items corrected. When they weren't, I then was expecting a credit, which I don't think is unreasonable since we paid more for the Hot Tub Suite that we wouldn't use because it was disgusting.

Absolutely awful! They could have done so good with this place, but no. Rooms were dirty, a fire hazard and there were dead roaches. Informed them and they refused to take responsibility or apologize. Checked out and was only given partial refund because I stayed for an hour and a half looking for new place to stay!!!
