The room was horrible. Please don’t spend your money here. The first room the sink didn’t drain and It stunk. The staff moved us to another room and It constantly sweat the entire time. The floor and walls were always wet It looked like your room we as sauna and this would be every morning when we wake up and in the evenings when we got back to the room. For the price that’s ridiculous they do not allow refunds. If I could go back I would have spent more money to stay somewhere else. We considered sleeping in our car. This was by far the most disgusting place we have ever stayed the pictures look nice but are deceiving. The staff did their job so I can’t fault them, the location was good but very hard to enjoy due to the quality of the “hotel”

Good location Rooms were not as clean I would have liked for the price. Toilet seat kept falling off. Bath fan did not vent good so when taking a shower it steamed up the whole room and was muggy.

Room stayed damp/wet our entire stay. We thought they had just mopped the room right before we checked in, but it stayed wet the entire weekend. Balcony and pool were nice and convenient location.

While the facility could use some updating including the stuff in the rooms, dents on bed frames, paint chipped etc, we always love the no frills stay and having easy beachside access.

Arrived early and were able to check in with a small additional fee. We also received a room upgrade at no additional cost. The staff was friendly and we are looking forward to staying there again.

Called the property prior to booking about trailer parking. I was told I could park my trailer in the lot but upon arrival I was instantly told that I couldn't have a trailer there. I spoke to the lady at the desk and she basically told me that I was never told that. Anyways other than that its a nice place just poor communication during the booking.

good stay until the plumping backed up into all the rooms on the bottom floor. great it happened on our last night there. everyone on the bottom floor was mad

The room was clean and it has a walk in shower in the bathroom. They had a rubber mat for the shower which was good for safety. They had a refrigerator with a freezer not a mini fridge. All rooms look out on the beautiful pool and ocean with a balcony.The price was reasonable. We enjoyed our stay and will stay here again.

Location was good. Really enjoyed the beach view, for the most part it was clean and comfortable. I would stay there again. Shower either needed to repaired or had mold in the corners of it. Shower pressure was good though.

All rooms are oceanfront views. We were on 2nd floor. Perfect view of Garden City Beach. Sat in the loungers at pool facing ocean and walked in ocean a few feet away. Bed was comfortable. Lots of pillows. Water pressure in bathroom was excellent. Shower was wonderful. Lots of towels, but only give you one hand towel per room. Odd. Room was cleaned every day. Floor was a little sandy when we got in room and contined to be that way throughout stay and had to wipe bottom of feet everytime we got in bed. No biggie! They do have a washer and dryer on 1st floor. Our room had a microwave, coffee maker, and regular size fridge. Big Location is perfect, close to Highway 17 where everything to eat and do is located. Just minutes to Surfside Beach and Myrtle Beach. Price was affordable, but it is middle of May before the summer crowd. Loved our stay at this classic beach motel. Just what I was expecting. Would definitely stay here again!

Our stay was overall was great. The only improvement I could suggest would be improvement on the WiFi. It would constantly go in and out. We had to end up linking the smart tv to our mobile hotspot to be able to watch tv.

We enjoyed out stay here. We had an ocean view room, which was so relaxing. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. Great place to stay!

The husband and I came up there for weekend. They stay was great! We was on the beach! No dunes no board walk to go down! We rate this property as a 10! Not a whole lot rooms but it worked just for us two. It has a nice size pool and the grilling area was just big enough. The price was great as well!

This was a nice clean room , but it needed more lighting and we had trouble cutting on the shower.

It is not a hotel for two handicap people who had declined to the third floor. We had to wait over 10 minutes for a tenant to come to the front desk to check in.

Clerk was not welcoming or personable at check-in at all. When asked for recommendations for dinner, he gave minimum answer with no directions or specifications. Television in room was inoperable. No volume and remote had no way to adjust. Housekeeping staff was very friendly. We had called ahead to state we were travelling with an elderly dog. The room we were assigned was situated on the third floor (no elevator) which was not convenient to addressing our pet's needs during our stay. Minimal pet comfort area. It's a shame as this property could be reconfigured as a unique retro boutique hotel with a little upgrade and investment. All rooms overlook the beach.

The room and amenities were perfect for all our needs. The staff was very helpful and kind. A lovely comfy place to stay.

You could not ask for a better location as far as walking out front to the beach! Pool was nice! Staff were super friendly! Only negative thing I could say would be the outside of the building it's self could use some love.. new paint , new locking system maybe! But all employees seemed to be keeping the grounds pretty clean.

I have stayed here last year and that room was clean. I stayed this year and stayed in room 301 which wasn’t that clean. The toilet flap was broke and the toilet bowl wasn’t that clean and the shower had black hair in the drain. Has a great balcony view though and The Salty Pickle is the next building over for some great food and a bar. I would stay again even though this trip wasn’t as clean as before.

The room was nice and big and very clean. The best was that is is right on the beach! The bath towels were very small and like sandpaper.

We very much enjoyed looking out at the ocean from our room. And we were able to practically walk straight out onto the beach from our room.

The staff was great except for one who was rude the entire stay. Because my flight was late at night I ask if my luggage could be held at the front desk so I could enjoy my last day on the beach. I was told this was no problem. The following day at my check out I was told no by the extremely rude employee which put me in a bad situation with no back up plan.

NOTHING We took 2 vehicles and on the website it said free parking even without a reservation which we had . The lady at the front desk was so very rude and ugly and told us they would have our other vehicle towed if we did not move it and I asked where would be a good place as she told me it was not her job to tell me where we could park . So we ended up leaving early and only stayed 1 night because the next day the were still talking junk as we would walk by ……..worst experience ever do NOT STAY HERE !!!!!

Location was ideal Linens and bed covers were dirty upon arrival and asked for them to be changed. The floor was dirty and sandy. I cleaned the top of the refrigerator while rhe staff changed the bed cover. Very loud, you could hear everything including the dumpster pickup every morning at 355am

I am astounded at the rudeness of the staff. I called days before our trip and added the pet deposit. Their website says pet friendly. When we checked in, they placed us in a room that doesn't allow pets. They then said we had to "get rid" of our pet in order to stay there. The desk attendant was on the phone with another person who was very loudly saying that it wasn't their problem, it was mine. So incredibly rude and uncalled for in a hospitality industry. We were told we had 30 minutes to leave or get rid of the pets. After driving 6 hours to be there and paying a pet fee in advance, none of this was acceptable. So we left the "pet frendly" hotel and found somewhere else to stay.

Amazing ocean front location.

Even though the property was recently updated (2022), you can still see some evidence of it being an older property. Regardless, the view was perfect and the staff was very polite and accommodating.

The space was very clean, they left plenty of towels and wash clothes, the laundry was easy accessible and $1 for wash $1 for dryer. The views were glorious. If you have hard time walking up stairs there’s no elevator. This is my new home whenever I’m in town. It’s small quaint and cute.

Renovated clean older hotel but in great condition staff friendly close to Murrells inlet and Myrtle beach can't beat the price

Garden city Inn was a great place to stay being right on the beach. Convenient to other amenities. Staff was courteous and helpful. Had a great time discovering the area.

The room was clean, the staff was friendly. The only bad thing is there's no elevator. I did not realize this until I checked in, and they had no open rooms on the bottom floor, and was put on the third floor and with my health issues I couldn't enjoy going in and out to go to the beach as I would have liked to.

No toilet paper holder so we went old school and had to sit the toilet paper on the bathroom sink. The back cover was missing on the door lock which made it look run down. The $14 "resort" fee we were charged was funny. "Resort"??? The room rate was low, so I guess you get what you pay for.

This place has a great price and is very clean. It’s right on the beach! Realize it is older and may not have the pizzaz of a new built hotel/condo.

The only con to mention is that the room had that overwhelming perfumey smell to coverup cleaning solution, but it was tolerable once we let the room air out. Overall, I would recommend to anyone and plan to stay here again.

We thought this property was a great choice in this price range. It looked as if it had been newly renovated and was clean. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We have no complaints except that we do wish there was free breakfast offered, but the lower price did compensate for this. We would stay here again and would rate this 4 1/2 stars.

Love the nostalgia of the old motel! We did encounter countless issues with our keycard not working. The room was very clean with perfect oceanfront views! The beds were rather hard and could definitely use a mattress topper. The tv remote was quirky having to press several different keys to get the channels to display. Needed instructions since not provided in room. The room door had a large gap when closed allowing cold air to stream into the room. Majority of staff were really nice and helpful! If I bring a mattress topper, I would definitely stay there again!

Only issue was they tried to charge us 25.00 early check in fee and it was not on the site about it. Would definitely fix that. Plus check in said not till 4pm. That is crazy. Should be earlier I think. But overall great location

We enjoyed a very clean room with an awesome shower. The balcony view of the beach was exactly what we hoped it would be. Direct access to the beach, a nice pool, with lounge chairs. A couple bbq grills and a covered area to retreat from the sun while taking in the ocean. All staff were friendly and accommodating. Most bang for the buck!

Everything about our stay was amazing! From the front desk, the view, the location! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We are already looking at dates to book our next stay!

Cleanr room. The staff and the maid service was perfect. This was our second time. Nothing compares to sitting on the balcony and being so close to the ocean. Would be back again. Thanks Garden City!

This hotel is fabulous! The staff was very friendly/clean rooms/outside area was clean/pool was cleaned every morning ! We had a wonderful trip!Would most certainly recommend to every one!

Bathroom faucet splashed water when facing it. The television was a problem getting it to turn on without un plugging it and putting the plug in. Don't know what cable provider they had but it was terrible. It wouldn't show the info of the channels.

All the rooms are oceanfront. Easy beach access. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurants and shops close by. My third stay and they have all been great.

My bigest and only real issue is the WiFi it is absolutely unusable, othe guest said the same. They need a serios equipment and link upgrade to be usable. The have consumer grade equipment and what appears to bea home user or very low capacity internet link. If ypu want to stay here do not count on having WIFI internet.

The property is old. Has been updated. But still needs more. Maid service never made both beds. Only one. Had to get coffee cups and toilet paper. No instructions on how to operate tv. Needs smart tvs added. Bathroom shower redone. But shower head and faucet just stuck in wall. Our beds were comfortable.

Liked-Oceanfront, full-size fridge. Disliked bed and pillows were uncomfortable.

Very nice room with a view, clean towels from friendly staff. Room spacesous and comfortable. I have a dog and love dogs but wasn't thrilled with the early morning barking. But would stay there again

Not the best front desk service. They charge a “resort fee” when you show up (after you’ve paid the full price). Very slow and received a finger from the attendant telling me to wait as he answered the phone to book someone for about 10 minutes after I had been waiting in line behind another group for 10 minutes. Overall, good experience. Just some slightly unimpressive customer service.

The only thing I didn't like was the floor was dirty. Also, the TV did not work the first night and had to wait until morning for someone to fix

Nice that it was oceanfront. It is an older property and it looks like they try to keep as clean as best as they can. There was (dog?) poop outside of our door two mornings. Most likely will never stay here again.

Check-in staff was NOT friendly. She did not share times the pool was open, where to get ice, or the fact that there was NO ELEVATOR and we were in the 4th floor!! The room was fine. Beds were comfortable & shower was decent. AC worked well. Location is excellent. But, the ice machine did not work the ENTIRE time we were there in a July heat wave. There was a cockroach in the pool area & on our balcony the last night. And someone let their dog poop on the second story landing & did not clean it up the day we were checking out. I DO NOT recommend this motel at all, unless you have absolutely no other options.

The good points: We could open the sliding glass doors directly to the pool and the ocean front. That was the main advantage to this hotel. Restaurants were convenient by car as well. The mattresses were very good. Even at peak season I felt the price point was high for the size and comfort level of this establishment. $25-$50 less would have been closer. Would I go back? Maybe, maybe not. In off season, I would try for something nicer.

2nd. The view and distance from the beach is perfect!. 3rd. This is not best hotel BUT, for the price and experience of the beach and again the STAFF , it is great. Some are to critical to judge rooms with minor issues. Be fair in the judgement and welcome yourself to a nice quiet small hotel with a great view and waterfront. We will be back..

We enjoyed our stay however the 2nd floor has nor been renovated which we thought thought the entire Inn had been renovated. Loved the Ocean front view.

Great location. Check in was slow. For tye money you cant beat it.

While the property itself is fairly aged and no amount of paint can hide that, overall it is still a very comfortable stay for us. Having direct access to the beach AND literally walk out the door to the pool was a big plus. The one of the biggest drawback is simply how loud the AC unit was, specially if you keep it running through the night to keep the humidty down. I think had they opt'd to replace all the units with mini-split when it was renovated, they would've gotten better energy efficiency in the long run and also offers guests a better experience.

An older hotel, however, great location, great service both frontdesk and staff. I would recommend.

Had to switch air conditioning unit out twice due to quit working room floor not so clean and you can tell it’s an older hotel that they just repainted the walls and done a few other things and call it a newly renovation you be your own judge but personally I wouldn’t stay here again due to it being older

LIKE Mini Mart beside Hotel

Employees were nice. But room was outdated. They charged us $25 early check in fee, for 2 hours early. Also charged a resort fee on top of posted Hotels.com price which was supposed to include all fees. Worst part? We were only there for one night, air was set on 69, room stayed 81 the WHOLE night. Must be hotel controlled. Lastly, we woke up with either sand mite, flea, or bed bug bites. Had to stop for benedryl on our travel home, because of the bites. Will never return. The good reviews are why we booked, but none of them were true based on our experience. Also, there is no elevator! Be prepared to carry everything up stairs!

We loved it until it started raining and our room flooded ( bottom floor ) they did move us and that room started doing the same so we opted to just come home. They did refund the nights we didnt stay since it wasnt our fault.

Ground floor room, pool right outside your door, with small table & chairs, 5 steps down from pool your on the beach! Upper 3 floors had balconies. Being a smaller hotel service was great, you were not just a number. Nothing fancy, but clean. Most rooms have a very small kitchen. Great location, very close to murrels inlet. Best part was we decided to stay another night ( first 2 nights rained out) so Tina at the front desk did some moving around for us, so we didn’t have to change rooms! We will be back!

First time visiting Garden City and we chose this Inn because we were traveling with our pet.

This is a good place to stay if you do not have much money to spend or you've waited till the last minute to reserve. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower pressure was incredible. We had quiet evenings and the pool was clean and quiet. The view could not be better overlooking the ocean. There is a small store on the property that was a plus. There was a comment in a review that mentioned smoke from balconies being a nuisance. We only smelled someone smoking the first day and after they left we didn't smell smoking after that. A life guard is stationed on beach in front of Garden City Inn. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of age and lack of higher level interior finishes.

Smelled, gnats in the sink, no elevators, guest service was way to secure as in asking for ID and other.....i had to guve my license to her 3x and askedbif my Dad was with me and the response was no each time. Rude

Loved that it's pet friendly and oceanfront but it needs better upkeep. My dog is completely house broken but it's obvious a lot aren't. Wall edges are chewed up and paint peeling where dogs have been peeing on everything. Room 201 has a non stop ticking noise coming from the electrical outlet between the beds that's broken and the bathroom sink is very slow draining as well as the vent fan needs cleaning out. On a positive note the location is great and the staff are super friendly and helpful.

Not the most fancy place, but a clean comfortable hotel with a pool and step down to the ocean! Plus a kitchenette!!! Perfect to make your own meals and enjoy outside around the pool! Very friendly staff!

It's an older motel, but they keep it up every year. All rooms are oceanfront and it has a little store at the corner of the building. Pet friendly and family friendly. Price is VERY reasonable! Only drawback is it's 4 floors with no elevator. I found out that if you get a suite, those are in the ground floor-fyi

Dump. Needs a total renovation. Cracked dirty floors, moldy shower, TV didn’t work, dirty AC unit. The only nice thing was the view and the showers water pressure.

We are very happy to have discovered this property, and will most definitely return. Staff are highly professional and accommodating. Private balconies face the ocean. Rooms and property very clean. Nice pool deck and the beach is walkable in both directions. Close to everything in Murrell's Inlet, Garden City, and Surfside. Good, safe distance from Myrtle Beach.

I paid for thee efficiency unit. And they're only on the bottom floor since my husband had 2 back surgeries, they have no elevator so it was yeah. Daisier, I knew I was bringing my dog and told me I couldn't have one after I paid for it because I had my dog sent me to the 3rd floor no elevator. And come to find out, my dog is 10 pounds. And they were a German Shepherd and a big book bird. Dog on the bottom floor so I don't know whether they just gave my room away. But I was not happy, will not stay again

Older hotel that had been renovated. My room was clean and spacious and nicely decorated. The mini mart connected to the hotel and a good selection and priced reasonably.

I didn’t like the smokers that smoked on the premises. Couldn’t sit on balcony without someone smoking around you.

This was our first time at Garden City Inn and we will be back. It was quiet, the room was comfortable and the darkest room ever for sleeping. Staff was friendly. It was right on the beach!

Every thing was really clean. The staff was super. The only complaint, a minor, is the mattress was too hard. Other than that, this is a super nice remodel hotel.

The location is the absolutely best part of this hotel!!! High recommend!!! First floors are the best rooms to stay in. They have mini kitchens with good size fridge. We went grocery shopping and bought essentials and everything fit well. Would recommend getting paper plates and silverware and paper towel. Kitchen supplies are limited. A toaster and a spatula would be nice to have in the kitchen. The cons are the housekeeping. We only received service twice. Needed to keep getting towels and tp ourselves. Internet was sketchy. Sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t. I will go back again though based on location. Loved Lunchbox and Princetina. They were very helpful and kind. Excellent employees.

This was a great place to spend a few days. Ocean view and nicely equipped. We hope to return in the future

The actually property itself was amazing, it was right by the beach, a store was in the parking lot, it was great in theory. However the manager of the property is SO rude and has a terrible attitude. The new towels we received weren’t clean, and we never saw or noticed room service come around or in our room until the third day there. She was very inconsiderate to us I’m assuming because we were younger than the other guests that we passed by staying there. However all of the desk workers were so nice and amazing!

This was my second stay here at Garden City Inn, and I would book again! The concierge was amazing and extremely helpful for a quick check in. Only thing is locals have to pay $150 in cash as a deposit, which I was not aware of so beware of that! Otherwise, great beach front property!

It was a very nice hotel. Hotel room face ocean. There is 3 floors and FYI no elevator which was ok for us. The first floor has the sliding doors going to the pool area and a patio area looked nice we were there in February and the weather was cool. Beach was at your front door and room was clean.

We had beachfront walkout, kitchen, and pool for off-seaon rates. Could not have asked for anthing more. Watch the tides roll in and out from the co.firt of the room, listen to the waves, and walk the beach to your heats content.

Staff is very friendly and Inn is located right on the ocean. Plenty to do and places to eat. Great time!!

After not knowing the area and arriving blind, we were extremely pleased by the southern hospitality of the staff and the 1st floor room overlooking the pool and beach! Affordable rooms. We will definitely be back!!

Great value. Older property, directly on the sand & beach. Nothing fancy & gets the job done.

Parking lot was sheet of ice. Towels had gross stains on them. Couch bed was rusty and so uncomfortable. Beds were hard as a rock. Outdated. You get what you pay for.

There was, however, a fulkl kitchen in the room! This was a very nice touch.

Stay was well worth what we paid. Several minor issues that were resolved.

Great place, friendly people. And to top it off, #205 is haunted by a prankster ghost!
