Reviews
Guests generally have a positive experience at this hotel, appreciating its cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is a highlight for many, though some find it lacking in variety or quality. The location is praised for its proximity to shops, restaurants, and the beach.

Clean room. Friendly staff. Great breakfast

Hotel was mostly nice, our room seemed to have the smell of the local seafood restaurant for some reason. It seems to have permeated every possible square inch of the unit. Other than the odd smell, it was a nice stay.

Stayed 5 nights. Breakfast always good, parking always ample, bed always comfortable. Ice maker in room fridge pumped out ice. Location was convenient for trips in and around Charleston, and the price was ok. Definitely someplace I would stay at again.
- 5/5
Very nice suite with full kitchen and dining necessities. Comfortable, quiet and clean. Will definitely recommend this property.
- 5/5
The bed was comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was great. The housekeeping staff were very responsive and respectful. We would definitely stay here again!

Our stay was superb! Breakfast was great. I especially enjoyed the chocolate milk. Staff was courteous when things ran out and would kindly retrieve what was needed. Upon arrival, the room felt spacious, clean, and comfortable. What stood out to me was how nicely our room was refreshed while we were out and about. We walked to a Trader Joe’s a few times which came in handy. Very pleasant stay in Mount Pleasant :)

The suite was quite large and liked the full kitchen although it was not expected so did not prepare to do our own cooking. Will know better for next time if we were to stay at the same hotel. There were a couple of staff members who smoked. Although outside, it was right at the entrance of the hotel by the parking lot, so the smell was the first thing you encountered. Being very sensitive to smell, I think smoke breaks should be designated to the back of the building, if possible. Breakfast could have had some more cut up fresh fruit.

Very good

The suite had a full kitchen, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. It was a terrific place to stay for several days comparable to a VRBO condo/apartment rental. Plenty of shopping and dining options nearby. Easy drive to Downtown Charleston. Not a scenic location but practically located near a large shopping complex.

Location.
- 4/5
Breakfast was as expected but is a good job that the hotel is located on the edge of a shopping mall otherwise we would have starved! Nothing really, it what you would expect from an out of town hotel.
- 4/5
Excellent hotel. Comfortable, renovated rooms. Magnificent breakfast. Impeccable cleanliness, but the staff was not very friendly.
- 5/5
It was a awesome stay, great room, great breakfast
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
Breakfast and hot coffee ready every morning at 6:30 with a good selection for everybody. The maintenance guy was prompt and extremely courteous dealing with a faulty microwave and even brought up a full-sized one to use immediately after finding out it was a electrical board that needed replacement and had to be on ordered. Really, absolutely no complaints.

the breakfast was not very good. The eggs and potatoes took forever to come out and the sausage was not very good. We ate breakfast elsewhere after the first night.
- 5/5
The size of the room was perfect for our family, the services was professional and expedient. When we needed anything we received it quickly. For example, the television did not work in the master bedroom nor did the phone. We went out for a short period and when we returned both had been replaced. the breakfast was not very good. The eggs and potatoes took forever to come out and the sausage was not very good. We ate breakfast elsewhere after the first night.

The room was clean, staff was friendly. It was a great stay
- 2/5
To start off, we were supposed to have a room separated from the living room by the wall and the door. We paid for this room to have this amenity, and the staff was unwilling to correct the issue. We walked into the bathroom and there was urine on the seat. The shower door was installed incorrectly and would not stay closed during showering. The breakfast was absolutely disgusting. The trays were almost empty, there was literal water in the eggs, you had to hold your plate above the heads of people sitting down just to get out of the kitchen area. Several times staff left the front desk unattended. At 8 o’clock in the morning both coffee machines were completely empty. The pullout couch had stains on the mattress. The residence Inn is supposed to be one of the nicer hotels and we were very disappointed. We could’ve paid a lot less and stayed at a nice place.
- 2/5
However, our room smelled like a mixture of rotting shrimp and cat urine. The smell was so upsetting and bothersome that it would hit you like a ton of bricks when you enter the room. We tried to cover it up with air fresheners, we aired out the room by leaving the windows open, we checked everywhere for rotting food or missed cleaning needs... and yet, nothing helped. We alerted the front desk staff, who informed us someone would come to our room right away. They never showed up. We alerted them again the following morning and were assured that someone would come "investigate" the smell. Again; no one ever came to the room. We suffered in silence and had to deep clean everything that came into that room, because it all was infested with the smell. We were very disappointed in our stay and would never stay here again because of the smell. I had to throw away all of my CPAP equipment because it was also infected with the smell of despair. I wouldn't risk it if I were considering staying here.

Great accommodations
- 5/5
Great kitchen with full size refrigerator. Laundry facilities were great and area was clean.
- 4/5
The space was clean. Great bathroom. Unfortunately a very loud AC located in the bedroom. TVs took a moment to start up (logging in, lousy remote). Hotel is located in a walking distance to a grocery store and a few restaurants, and major roads. Short drive away from Isle of Palms.
- 5/5
Property was quiet and clean. It was convenient to dining and shopping options. Pool was very well maintained and breakfast was well-stocked and excellent each morning.
- 4/5
Fixtures needed work on in bathroom sink. Towel rack comes off.
- 5/5
Will never book through Expedia again. Booked non-refundable. They didn’t have any 2 bdrm available at time of booking. A few days before I checked but couldn’t upgrade without forfeiting the full room rate because booked non-refundable. It’s not like I was cancelling, I was upgrading. Hotel couldn’t do anything about it because I booked through Expedia.
- 5/5
What we love most about Residence Inn suites are the full kitchen. It's very convenient to prepare light meals, making the suite feel like home away from home. The complimentary breakfast provides enough options to make everyone happy. The Mount Pleasant location was great for a quick drive to downtown Charleston, and Isle of Palms Beach and so many other places to visit.
- 5/5
Great location, everything was as advertised.
- 2/5
The first night black ants were found in one of the beds. The next morning a brown German cockroach was found crawling across the bed. Another two bedroom suite was not available for them to switch us to.
- 4/5
It was a really nice hotel and room.
- 5/5
Safe clean parking
- 5/5
Great experience all around. Quick check in. Staff very friendly. Loved the breakfast and Leonora over the breakfast area was so kind and went out of her way to greet everyone and offer assistance. She was so cheerful and busy constantly cleaning and assisting folks. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Check out easy. Definitely will sty again.
- 5/5
Clean and easily accessible to shops and restaurants all in walking distance
- 5/5
Great place surrounded by a lot of shopping and adventures
- 2/5
Uncomfortable beds and hot. Ac cold in sitting area but awful in rooms. Nonexistent guest services- if you needed anything you had to get yourself in the lobby
- 3/5
Our room in this pet friendly hotel smelled bad the whole time we were there (like must dog). Nothing seemed to help, freshers or ionizing. We lived with it but didn’t like it. The rest of the property and location were very nice and the staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be.
- 5/5
Super. Professional and clean hotel
- 5/5
Highly recommend
- 2/5
we had mold in the shower courting, check in staff was not very friendly
- 5/5
Is super clean and best customer service
- 5/5
Easy check in. Rooms spacious and clean. Lots of shopping in area around. Area seemed safe. Little not interaction needed with staff as everything was good. Just saw a few little maintenance items but not enough to point out or address. Will definitely stay again if I’m area.
- 4/5
Great location! Staff is very helpful and considerate. The hotel and room were very clean. Breakfast was great and staff was on top of everything. Beach was only about 5 miles away, also convenient to shopping and restaurants. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Well maintained property in a really convenient location. Walking distance to dozens of shops and restaurants. My wife and I visit Mount Pleasant often and this will be our go-to place to stay from now on.
- 5/5
Excellent location attached to the Town Center. Loads of shops and restaurants to walk to. Very nice property, clean and quiet.
- 4/5
I booked this hotel for the hot tub. Unfortunately, the hot tub has been boarded over. Very disappointing. The hotel was nice, breakfast was good, but the hot tub was the only reason I picked this hotel. They need to update the photos
- 5/5
WE HAVE STAYED AT THIS PROPERTY SEVERAL TIMES AND WILL RETURN AGAIN! THE ROOMS ARE ALWAYS CLEAN, THE GENTLEMAN THAT CHECKED ME IN WAS VERY PLEASENT! BREAKFAST DAILY IS A BIG BONUS!

- 4/5
The hotel was nice. It was nice to be able to cook in the room as needed with the kitchen area. Housekeeping did a great job refreshing and replacing towels daily. Pool was kept clean and tidy. Breakfast provided each day was fair, but not too much selection each day. It was pretty much the same daily as far as the cereals, muffins yogurt selection and fresh fruit went.
- 1/5
Here’s what ruined the hotel for me: Breakfast is supposed to be from 6:30-9:30AM. They advertise it, and they act like they’re proud of it when you check-in. It was HORRIBLE — I’ve never tasted sausage so bad; they wouldn’t restock anything; they started cleaning up at 8:50AM three mornings in a row; THEIR ATTITUDE ABOUT IT WAS SORRY!!!
- 5/5
Love it
- 5/5
Very nice set up close to shops and other needs!!
- 5/5
This was our 2nd time staying at this property and we loved it as much as last time! Very clean and quiet. And the hot breakfast was a bonus!
- 5/5
Enjoyed having two separate bedrooms with full kitchen and living room. Only negative was the air stopped working on our last night and no one was there to fix it. I had bought a fan at Target and they took 100 of for our inconvenience. The dogs enjoyed it!
- 5/5
Convenient location to everything we wanted to do and lots of options around the hotel for eating and shopping.
- 1/5
The tv didn’t work and the toilet kept running all night.
- 5/5
Definitely recommend this location. Very clean quiet comfortable- overall fantastic
- 4/5
Because of COVID the the free hot breakfast buffet was not available. Grab and go meals were offered instead. The quality of the food and variety could have been better.
- 4/5
Everything was very clean, however it's age is showing especially with the kitchen dishes and pool area.
- 5/5
Very clean and we had a nice stay.
- 5/5
Nicely located, clean hotel. Would stay here again.
- 3/5
Pool and overall exterior was very dirty and obviously has lacked maintenance for several years
- 5/5
Clean room friendly staff. Close to Isle of Palms and the Citadel

Your Marriott at Mt. Pleasant was a very good experience for our family. It was a very a warm and extremely clean room. Kudos to your management and housekeeping staffs. I would recommend this establishment to everyone.
- 5/5
Friendly helpful staff. Rooms very stylish and very clean
- 5/5
Fast and easy check in, hotel is very clean as well as room. bed was comfortable, (mattress in sofa bed not so much, which isn't uncommon in hotels). Overall, great stay! Pets are welcome, we are dog people so that was a bonus. we did not get to enjoy the normal breakfast offered b/c of covid 19, but grab and go breakfast items were available which was nice! Hotel staff all very friendly and helpful. I like the set up of these suites. plenty of parking, lots of good restaurants w/in walking distance, but nice kitchen in suite if needed. I would stay again so definitely recommend.
- 4/5
Everything was great except the garbage disposal in the sink did not work properly.
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay and the kind, courteous staff at the Residence Inn. I should have asked for a room away from any guests with a dog as the room across the hall had a barking dog. So now I know to inquire about this type of thing when receiving my room. Grab & Go breakfast was provided.
- 4/5
They were such nice people! Our travel plans had to change due to airline changes. They were so gracious to let us check in early and check out late since I was traveling with my elderly parents. Was very thankful since my parents were so tired after having to change planes and get up at 3 am!!!! We also couldn’t get into our rental home until 4:30 the next day so staying a little late was a huge help. Thank you. Thank you!
- 4/5
Nice hotel near shopping and beach. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful and the property is in a great location and well maintained. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Pricing was competitive.
- 5/5
Everything closed due to virus. Bagged breakfast could have been better than cliff and bottle water. Hot coffee would have been good.
- 5/5
Comfortable room. Good breakfast. Everything as I would expect!
- 4/5
The room was nice. The pool and jacuzzi outside were filthy and falling apart. When mentioned to staff they said it was treated and nothing to worry about. Green slime around pool and jacuzzi and the bottom of both horrible. No one would even get into pool area whole time we were there and that was one of the reasons we picked property. Breakfast provided was outstanding food well prepared and huge selection.
- 5/5
This was an amazing experience after our previously booked hotel dropped the ball. the staff here is awesome and VERY accommodating. Highly recommend this location whether you are traveling for business or otherwise.
- 3/5
This hotel is fine. It is centrally located but you have to drive to everything. Do not stay here thinking you are IN Charleston. It is not far from the beach ... maybe 7-8 minutes drive to Isle of Palms. There is a sports bar in walking distance with halfway decent food. There is no bar at the hotel or restaurant that I saw. The pool did not look very good at all I wouldn't expect to hang out at the pool or get in that water. The room was good. Decent size with kitchen and living space. I paid over $300 for a night which embarrassingly astronomical for that room...this is a $200 MAX hotel but I was desperate. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I certainly wouldn't recommend it but, at the same time, you could do much worse.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay and the location is great. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was hot and delicious
- 5/5
My cat and I had to stay here for SEVEN weeks while my home was being repaired. The room was cozy and clean and the free Happy Hours and breakfast was amazing. The best part though, was Sunny. He worked the front desk and he always made sure I had everything I needed. He was so incredibly friendly and helpful and I really appreciated his kindness during a very stressful time for me. Thank you!
- 4/5
good stay
- 4/5
very close to the beach and restaurants and shopping .
- 5/5
Our entire stay was wonderful. All staff were great and hot breakfast was better than expected.
- 5/5
We stayed for a night in between moving in and out of our homes. We were able to bring our cat and they even gave us a late checkout which was really useful as our closing wasn’t until 2 pm. Very clean for a pet friendly hotel.
- 1/5
1, After the first night the room was not cleaned, trash not emptied, no fresh linens. 2. 3 times I had to go to the front desk for TP as it was not replenished on a daily basis. 3. 2 days the towels were just left piled on the bed. 4. pool was closed by health department for 1 1/2 days with 106 heat index. 5. Parking lot was full of construction containers . Had to park across the street and walk across to access room. 6. Lobby was closed to tile the floor. Had to walk out the emergency exits to enter and exit the property. Poor signage marking the way in and out . Doors were left unlocked so any one could access the building .
- 4/5
The room was nice but the key fobs would stop working if they came anywhere near a cell phone. The a/c in the fitness center was broken as was the out door hot tub.
- 2/5
Came into town for a wedding - asked if we could check in early. The lady was extremely rude, didn't even check on a room. Then proceeded to say she doubted it would be ready by regular check in time because they are "short staffed". I could understand not getting in early, but on time? I am never mouthy but her attitude and demeanor just set me off. After telling her how i felt she called 20 min later saying a room was ready. YOU CANT TELL ME IT WASNT ALREADY READY, esp when house keeping woke us up every morning at 8:30 am!!! Extremely rude. It took over 5 minutes for her to even come from behind the wall to acknowledge a customer. They ended up sticking us in a handicap room. Will never go back.
- 4/5
The breakfast at the hotel is great. It’s actually more of a buffet instead of continental breakfast that most hotels offer. We have stayed at this hotel many times and were surprised at the personality of the lady we first encountered at check-in. I’m just happy the weather was nice and we weren’t in a hurry to get in our room.
- 3/5
I didn't make the trip so I can not rate the hotel.
- 4/5
Ended up here because hotel I originally reserved didn't take pets, despite description on Hotels.Com that said it did. Rarely stay at Marriott properties when traveling with pets because their pet fee is exorbitant at $100. per stay. Hotel, however, was fine. Typical Residence Inn with better than average breakfast. Convenient to shopping and restaurants but a long drive to historic downtown Charleston, especially in rush hour or weekend traffic.
- 4/5
Convenient for last minute getaway. Close to the beaches and lots of restaurants within walking distance.
- 5/5
We stayed here for the Total Eclipse. Great location for getting to Isle of Palms.
- 4/5
4 day stay for conference. Nothing fancy but good accommodation for trip. Good breakfast and fresh
- 4/5
Nice place to stay. Good food and drinks in walking distance.
- 4/5
Hotel was very nice, clean, friendly staff, the morning buffet breakfast was excellent. Pool was nice. And a great location within the town center with shops and restaurants all in walking distance.
- 3/5
Location needs updating. Had musty smell. It was in nice area for shopping and not far from the ocean
- 1/5
Disgusting...first room....disgusting 2nd room...3rd room not so good but better...never again.
- 5/5
Hotel was great. Staff was extremely nice and very convenient to food and shops.
