Nice hotel. Very friendly staff. A little on the older side, but not an issue. Close to a nice small town.

Very nice hotel. Stayed here for UIUC's Mom's weekend. It's 30 minutes away from the campus, but a quick and easy drive and more affordable. Hotel and rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast included. Free snacks in the lobby as well as snacks, drinks and basic personal items available to purchase. Great security looks on the doors! Easy check in / out process.

Breakfast was fresh every morning, staff was really friendly, and the rooms were clean just a little dated !

Very nice place to stay.

I checked in, and the staff was friendly. I am not a white glove person, but there were both dead and a live bugs in this room. To be honest, at first, I believe they were bedbugs because I could not tell the species of the decaying dead bugs on the floor. And the ones on the ceiling were too far for me to see clearly. When management responded, denying a refund, they informed me that these are “only ladybugs“. I may be picky, but I simply won’t stay in a room with any bugs and I also will not stay at a property that has bugs in any room. Management stated that they were on site, but when I spoke with the front desk person they gave me the name and contact information for management and never mentioned once that anyone was on site. Anyway, I simply chucked it up to an expensive lesson learned and I will avoid this brand going forward. Management stated that they are unable to issue your refund because I’ve booked through Expedia, which I do not believe to be accurate, but it is certainly not worth my time to fight. The good thing about booking three third-party is I am not stuck with this brand thankfully. Make your own decision. If you’re good with only ladybugs in your room, this is your place to stay. On a positive note, the front desk staff Weir very polite.

The front desk man was very nice, and my first room smelled like natural gas and he believed me and gave me a new room. I appreciated that. He didn’t give me an attitude or anything. I don’t remember his name but please tell him thank you! I was already stressed out and he made my night better!

Iwas there for a funeral. The room was in excellent shape. The staff very helpful and courteous. I would highly recommend staying here, if one is staying in Monticello. Also the breakfast was delicious.

The room was clean and staff was really nice and welcoming. Complimentary snacks in the lobby. Pool looked nice if we'd had time to use it. Treadmill not functioning, not many breakfast options. We will stay there again and plan to eat/exercise elsewhere.

The room closet contained clothing, shoes, and personal belongings left behind by previous guests. Breakfast offerings were very limited, consisting mainly of danishes and cereal. Several items in the cafeteria were broken or not functioning properly. Additionally, the pool was not in service, despite calling ahead and being told it would be available. This was especially disappointing, as the pool was a main reason we chose this hotel for our son. Overall, the experience felt overpriced for the condition and amenities provided.

The room was clean and the only staff member we interacted with was the front desk clerk who was ok.

Everything is just fine.

The hotel is beautiful. The room was lovely and clean, but the bed was rock hard. The breakfast hot foods were cold, and several people tried to find someone to fill the waffle batter, but no one was at the front desk for about an hour. I just left my key cards in the box after waiting. It really was a lovely place, though, and clean.

The king room we booked was not available even though many rooms were vacant making it very cramped for our family

Staff was great. The room is old and needs updated especially the bathroom. No exhaust fan in bathroom. Comforter had stain on it. No toilet seat lid.

Night staff turned on the lights so I could go swimming as it was still pool hours. Also an extra feature I was not aware is that there was a nice place to sit and look at the small pond that was connected to my room.

Spiders, killed 2. Breakfast - guessing the quality is standard for a BW, but then I dont normally stay at a BW. We only chose this hotel bc it was a college fb weekend and this was the closest hotel (30 min away) we could find at a "reasonable" price. Some lightbulbs out. Door jam lock was broken. No maid service unless requested. Side door taped over, so dn require a key. The best part of the hotel was the scenery out the back window of a wooded creek...which was probably the source of the spiders, but it was pretty. Room coffee bad, but they had a kureg with Starbucks k cups in the lobby

Spacious lobby and room, friendly staff. Nothing fancy but no complaints. They do allow smoking in some of the rooms so if you are very sensitive to that, I would maybe reconsider. My room was non smoking but had a bit of a smoky smell.

The room I stayed in had a very string moldy smell and a sewer smell coming from the bathroom.

Internet was not working, there was not much of B/Fast options

They didn’t clean it very well, the bathtub did not drain, refrigerator didn’t get cold. Not a pleasant stay.

There was a broken bed frame in our room, so we had to change rooms.

3 guests only two towels. No toilet paper. Refrigerator was wide open and hot upon arrival. Breakfast was a joke.

Upon checking out I asked the very professional day clerk to investigate and she reversed the extra charges. I hated to rate staff low due to one clerk (afternoon) at check-in but he was one of the rudest people I have ran across in this setting.

Overall a nice stay with the exception of ants invading our room. They moved us to another room same problem. Probably think twice about staying here again.

It’s a great little family hotel with a nice yard out back, and it’s pet friendly for an amazing rate. The man at the front desk was so nice.

I picked this hotel because of the pool and the continental breakfast because I had children with me. Upon arrival, we were not told at check-in that the pool had been shut down by the Health Dept. We soon found out that it had been shut down 10 days earlier and still was not up and running. Continental breakfast left a lot to be desired, and we had ants in our room and smoke detector was literally hanging off the ceiling by a wire. And on top of all this, the Wi-Fi was down as well.

Clean, quiet, well run hotel. Next time I hope we will have chance to use indoor pool witch was closed this time.

Room was dirty and bathroom toilet had not been cleaned. Gave us a different room and it was even worse. Smoke alarm hanging from ceiling. Pry matks on ddor inside and out. Paid 130 dollars and it wasnt even worh 70. Will never stay at a best Western ever again. Do not recommend!!

In general this was a very clean hotel, room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable. The second day we stayed there the second floor had a very strong sewer smell but didn’t hinder our stay.

Check in was not the best experience. The guy was not a good people person. He acted like having to do his job was a bother. The initial look of the hotel was great. Then we got to our room. The bathroom was missing trim work and had cracked tiles. The floor looked like it had not been cleaned including the carpet. The beds smelled very odd. The beds were comforting though. Breakfast was almost nothing at 8:20am. Was an ok place to stay but needs better cared for.

Staff are incredible..helpful and juts overall very friendly. Place was super quiet and has a lot of amenities like the gym and pool. Also, the breakfast is really good relative to most places.

Room was spotless and comfortable. Staff was super friendly. It felt like being at home without cooking and cleaning. The breakfast was spot on. My wife and I were happy to stay here while visiting family in the area. If you are needing a room in the area, stay here. You won't regret it.

Staff was excellent! Our stay was for an event happening in the town. For our trip we just needed somewhere clean, safe, and not overly expensive and this gave us exactly that.

Location was convenient, hotel itself was not so great. Our first room had issues with the tv, the rooms keys didn’t work half the time so we needed about 10 for a 12 hour stay. We switched to a different room due to issue with tv, the bathroom was falling apart. Their fire system is also not working properly, so I would be very careful if you book! We’ve have stayed here previously (the pool wasn’t open or even working at the time for that trip, was one the main reasons we booked was the indoor pool) , we will not be returning! The breakfast was okay. Pancake machine was broken.

When we checked into our room we noticed several large bugs on the inside window. The offered to change our room and explained that the bugs coming during harvest time. They vacuumed out the bugs and the problem was resolved. The breakfast was not good at all.

It was fine, a typical older hotel. I was there in hot, humid, summer weather, and the room felt very damp all the time. Nothing dried. I also noticed some ants in my room.

We liked it was nice and that!! But the pool needs to be cleaned and they need to get the p stairs rooms plumbing fixed as we couldn't flush the toilet . So we wasnt happy about that !!!

Clean and well maintained. The hotel is closed to highway and gas station but in the back you have beautiful views ( trees and little lakes ). It was perfect spot to walk our puppy . They have a Keurig coffee maker in the lobby with Starbucks cups . Very well stocked breakfast bar but you have to get there earlier. Overall very good experience and will definitely stay there again.

Refrigerator had to be replaced as it didnt work. Towels were stained and missing or not provided multiple days. Privacy tag was not heeded.

Two guests, one towel set? Toilet paper and kleenex almost out. Refrigerator did not work at all. While these major inconveniences were dealt with eventually and solved, it was unpleasant.

The room was clean! I liked it.

We reserved 2 rooms for our daughter’s wedding. One of the sheets had spots of fresh blood on it in room 120 and room 122 had old wrappers on the floor. Breakfast was lacking and not much food out. Towels were limited. The hotel was decent and day staff was not very friendly (except the cleaning lady she was very friendly).

Nice and clean property, very quiet. Toilet had a slight leak but front desk says they need would address it. Breakfast was ok, some lactose free milk was available. Felt sorry for whomever had to clean breakfast area as a family was there making quite a mess. Will definitely stay here again.

Bed was not a true queen size bed as advertised. Good all around place to stay. Clean

The property is old. Smelled funny when we walked in the room. Nice beds, clean. Breakfast was just ok. We paid around $200 for the night we were there and definitely overpriced.

Room was a little tired but the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very sparce bu I did love the ham and cheese potatoes.

Nice room, clean & fresh. Breakfast was very limited even at 8 am. Only white bread & prepackaged coffee cake for breads. Hash browns & egg casserole were drowning in cheese. I couldn’t find any sweetener for my cereal in the breakfast area or coffee bar. A pitcher of water would be nice. OJ & apple juice were available, as well as Activia yogurt & prepackaged boiled eggs.

The hotel was decorated beautifully for the holidays. They have a spacious pool area, but was disappointing that it was not heated during our November visit. My Grandkids swam, but it was sure cold!! Overall the room was good and a quiet stay.

We were there from Texas for Christmas and then a return in January for a funeral. This family owned business totally took care of our many families that stayed there. At a time that was so devastating, they provided comfort.

The tv in the room didn't work and the doorknob for the closet was about to fall off. The location was convenient and the staff I dealt with was friendly and attentive. I like the breakfast and thought the bacon was delicious.

Stayed here to go into Monticello to visit Prairie Fire Glass (beauty shop). Pretty quiet with restaurant right next door (walkable). Breakfast has a cool conveyor pancake maker machine that you "wave" at to get it started. Only complaint is that breakfast ended at 9. COME ON...10 am is becoming the norm everywhere else. People were coming down after 9 and were not too happy.

Cleanliness was fine and staff was welcoming. Breakfast was pretty lacking other than coffee.

The stay was excellent! I've paid a lot more and received far less from many hotels. The room was clean and comfortable. Pet fee reasonable. The grounds at the back of the hotel very scenic. Staff was accommodating. They even have an EV charger. I would definitely stay here again.

Convenient location. The hotel has what i needed when there was a power outage where i lived.

the tv did not work for 4 days, the pool had a sign pump out and did not know when it would be fixed, had to ask for new towels no soap or shampoo, had to ask for coffee. Fun times at the best Western NO NO NO. Would like compusation but that

Good location 20 minutes from UIUC

Definitely a 1 out of 10 considering that the rate was jacked up because of a weekend event. Usually prices get raised because you have something to offer, not just because "you're there".

I was pleasantly surprised by the property, especially the main public area and the staff were great and friendly.

Some things looked a bit outdated.

Clean and friendly! Even with food restrictions i was able to eat the breakfast that they provide. The pool and pool area were clean and bright. Free fresh coffee in the loby. The room was very nice and very clean. The only complaint i would have, and its really not a complaint, is that we had 4 people in our group and they only put 2 bath towels in the bathroom. Highly recommend this hotel!!

Pillows were TOO thick. Lol Couldn¿t use them to sleep.

Always a good place to stay when in Monticello. Staff are very good. Our room was updated, A/C worked great, beds comfortable, with fridge, micro, and good TV channels. Great swim pool inside. Good breakfast. Will stay here again.

A quiet gem just off the highway. We had a comfortable night here - room was clean, beds were comfy. A nice view out the window of a pond and woods was a surprise! Breakfast ends early (at 9) but service was friendly.

This property looks nothing like pictures it is old and dilapidated. I called to ensure yhe room with jetted tub had the tub in room not bathroom, was told yes, but that wasnt the case. The staff member didnt seem to know how to operate computer system. Ultimately i canceled and left.

All was wonderful

The hotel is newly remodeled and updated since our last stay there. It was much nicer!

I was debited From my checking account on 2-19 and I just received 2 additional debits of $79.04 and $129.04 from the same Best Western. So I have been charged a total of --- for this stay. I will now have to make phone calls to fix. Not happy!

We booked last minute on Christmas and they had us ready to go! The breakfast was fine and the pool is HUGE.

heater/air conditioner would go on and off all night so we had to set it to fan only. The room got cold but that was better than being awakened all night.

The staff at check in was awesome. She was super friendly and went above an beyond to accommodate us, even giving us a preference of which floor we wanted and printing a list of local restaurants! I was impressed.
