I would try other hotels before I stayed here again and I would never stay here with another guest in the same room. The pictures must be 20 years old because the property is more worn than advertised. Bathroom was very small, like leave your toiletries in the room small. Breakfast was below average.

What was not special was our rooom. We paid a significant upcharge for a nice room with a terrace, but it was just roof of a porch, and not grand or luxe enough to justify the upcharge. The furniture was not original to the historic hotel.

the Inn hostess Toni (? Sp.) was. The breakfast was amazing. The Mansion itself was beautiful. It does need some work though as we discovered on our walk around the property. I didn’t realize that it didn’t have an elevator so the stairs were a little difficult to navigate. As you entered to check-in, there was a torn shade that was an eyesore. They should replace that. The parking is ample.

The Mercersburg inn is a wonderful bed and breakfast nestled in a picturesque small town surrounded by mountains. It has beautiful architecture, both inside and out and possess a grand history. The building is well kept, clean, and furnished with fascinating antiques. There is even a large porch where you can enjoy a touch of nature and listen to singing birds. The staff is very accommodating and always present for assistance. There is a game room with various types of puzzles, a pool table and air hockey to help spend the time. A full bar is available with a fireplace to unwind after a long day. Definitely a place I will visit again.

We had bees, stinkbugs and cobwebs, in our room. The furniture was mismatched, lampshade torn, rugs dirty. Housekeeping only provided 1 set of towels, and 1 roll of toilet paper. There wasn't a plunger in case there was clog. Window AC unit outdated, not efficient (didn't cool the room) and extremely loud. Thankfully the inn keeper provided earplugs as though someone had previously complained. We had splurged on our hotel stay and were disappointed on the atmosphere. Very overpriced.

Unfortunately when we arrived there wasn’t anyone to greet us, even though we got there right at check in time. The keys were set out with a note to tell us what room and such. We booked a specific room, but did not get that room for some reason. Overall, the stay was good, but my husband and I have gone to other bed and breakfast spots and have formed a good bond with the owners… this felt more like a business.

The Innkeeper went out of her way to be helpful and gave us a little gift bag for the road when we left. we stayed in the cottage, so it was quiet and quite roomy. We were able to cross the road(busy) and then had the opportunity to amble around the grounds of the Academy just across the way. Only drawback: The neighbor down the hill keeps a cow in the backyard, so it's a bit smelly.

This is a very beautiful property and the photos of the interior do not do it justice. The Innkeepers do their best to make you feel welcome - the gift bag was also a nice touch. The dinner was outstanding prepared by a gourmet chef and having a custom made breakfast on the balcony of our room was wonderful. One small nit would be that the exterior requires some TLC - a lot of the gardens were overgrown, had weeds in them and there were a few dead trees; the walls could use a fresh coat of paint or a power wash; there were couple of port-o-pots in the driveway so perhaps some renovations were underway. We will definitely return when we have a chance.

We booked the Romantic Retreat room 14 at a premium for Valentine's weekend. Staffers were pleasant, helpful, and informative. Common areas (dining hall, sitting room, bar&lounge, gameroom) were quite nice and had an old world appeal, though we only utilized the gameroom's pool table and air hockey. We elected to have room service for dinner and breakfast with an additional charge of $20 per meal. They have carryout, but not for inn guests. The food was delicious and served hot. The "Romantic Retreat" room is not set up for eating. There is no table except for a small desk and one chair. The small ornamental rocking chair was of no use...a small bistro set in its place would be more useful. We ended up at the window seat with our meal sitting on our laps. Our room included a jacuzzi tub and a two sided gas fireplace. My one major con: the room was dusty and there were dead and live stink bugs... apparently a good walk through was not done close to our arrival. For the price we paid, we expected the room to be in top order. The low fireplace flames did little for ambience unless you were sitting on the floor. They are really not visible when in bed or in the tub.

Had a nice romantic getaway at the Mercersburg Inn. A few things could of been better. The breakfast the first day was cold, unappetizing and clearly recooked ahead of our scheduled breakfast time. The owner was very responsive and receptive of this and our breakfast on the second day was phenomenal. The room we stayed in (Carriage House) was very quaint but not quite up to our expectations for the price we paid. The air conditioning unit was surrounded with poorly duct-taped cardboard and our jetted tub had rust colored stains all over the jets. But once again management was very nice and pleasant and even offered to upgrade our room because of the first breakfast. The game room downstairs was al lot of fun and the inn itself is great to explore.I would absolutely return for another romantic getaway but would stay in the main inn itself for the next go around.

The property is not transparent about its COVID-19 policies. While the rooms are lovely, I could not enjoy any of the public spaces because the staff--including the owner, front desk, and cleaning staff--were not wearing face masks. Furthermore, the cleaning staff entered in and out of private bedrooms without masks. If COVID-19 weren't occurring, this place would be a dream. It is a shame that they are lying about using state-regulated mandates.

The Mercersburg Inn exceeded all of our expectations! The pictures were beautiful but it was even better in person. The architecture of the house and the details of the room were so charming. At the same time, the room felt clean and modern and minimalist compared to a lot of bed & breakfasts. The service and food were wonderful and the town was charming! Highly recommend!

Darla at the front desk was friendly and very helpful. The Inn is lovely, and each room is different and interesting. We enjoyed the game room in the basement and sitting in the beautiful gardens. Complimentary water and cookies in the room. Restaurant hours are limited, but they accommodated us with some wonderful desserts in the parlor. The Tidd room has an enormous balcony. The only negative is some street noise, as it’s close to the main road. We will definitely stay here again and hope to arrive in time for dinner the next time!

From the moment we arrived we were greeted with welcoming warmth from the owners and other staff. The chairs surrounding the raging fireplace was a focal point when we first walked in. We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace with some seasonal drinks. We booked a lovely room which had a comfortable king size bed, a nice sitting area and fireplace. This is an Inn that was built almost 110 years ago with luxurious furniture and setting. The linens, bed covers and towels were pristine white. The room was very clean and spotless. The housekeeping staff did a fine job. The breakfast was excellent! We had mushroom and spinach quiches with bacon and they were absolutely delicious. The server was nice and attentive. Homemade granola and cake were yummy! Dinner was fabulous. The server, Emma was very nice. We had duck and salmon and they were great! They were the best meals which we have ever had at a Bed and Breakfast. When we checked out, we got a travel gift bag with bottled water and some snacks. They have thought of everything. We cannot wait to come back to the Inn. I highly recommend the Mercersburg Inn. If you want a truly memorable experience that takes you back in time try a visit.

We arrived excitedly but were hugely disappointed by every aspect of this hotel. The front office lady was impersonal at best. No greeting, no introduction, no asking if we needed anything or if they could help us arrange anything -- this is a bed & breakfast right? Hotel is very old and it smells old. Worse of all, the room is filthy. We had old food scrapes laying around, the carpet is 100 years old caked with dirt that they haven't cleaned for ages. Bedding is old and run down, everything smelled uncleaned. We were situated in a room above a garage with an extremely steep stairs going up to it. The front lady offered zero help nor did they have anyone there to help with you luggage. What if it was an old couple having to carry their luggage upstairs? Mine you it was 20 degrees, dark and sleeting. Like I said, zero assistance. I am not even sure how this hotel is rated as a 4 star. The level of quality, appeal, cleanliness, service is equivalent to a 2 star at best. We paid $300/night. It's absurd! Like I said, their reviews must be fake.

Very attractive and interesting old house, but very thin walls. If your neighbors are loud you will hear every word. Breakfast was good, but pretty slow. This is a beautiful building that is well decorated. I love the charming rooms but it is quite expensive to stay. The breakfast is less than expected and includes a lot of sweet food. If you prefer savory choices, there isn’t much for you to eat. Additionally, the stairs make it cumbersome to get in and out of your room. The garden is lovely and the parking is convenient.

Charming property. They could use a hand getting the grounds into tip-top shape. The bones are wonderful. We visited in late July and though the room had a window AC unit, it was still warm. The rest of the home is not entirely air conditioned so it felt like visiting a rich aunt in earlier times! The breakfast was personalized and served in a lovely porch area. Even if you have a short stay, visit the basement - it is a playland for the kids and grown ups too!

Our dinner was gourmet and the staff surprised us with writing Happy Anniversary in chocolate around our scrumptious dessert . The bread is made on the premises as is the ice cream. The next morning we had French toast with custard. I have no idea how they made it, but it was to die for! I am very particular about the dining atmosphere and table linens and dishes. Went to school at the Academy and remember such a nice, but old Inn. My parents always stayed there when they came to visit and I would come to the Inn for most of the meals while they were on site. the rooms are still spacious and clean, just as they were! the bar area has changed and has become more of a sitting room and a place for a stand-up conversation as there seems to be fewer (3 I think) tables. all in all the rooms and facilities were just as I remembered. We enjoyed them for sure. My issue is the food. I always remember getting breakfast with my parents. it was great and I could get most anything I wanted. While not a 'child' I did not have to eat from a specific, one choice, meal. the food we got during our stay was not child, kid, or young adult friendly at all. no options, not even a couple of scramble eggs for the grandchildren we were showing the Academy to for the weekend. for the very high price, we had to spend nearly $1,000. for a Friday and sat night one bedroom stay, not worth it to have to go to also go out for breakfast. I miss the convenience, the tradition and the prior ownership. will most likely not be returning.

Our 7:45 dinner reservation arrived and we were serviced by the same man who made our drinks, who clearly wanted nothing to do with us or wanting to be at work. He made no effort in small conversation, his expression was as if we were not wanted there. The dinner option was very limited, and we couldve gotten a better meal at a local diner for half the cost. After dinner we proceeded to our room which was also hot and uncomfortable we did not sleep at all, while my son room was freezing. The shower went on in the middle of the night full blast for about 5 minutes then turned off on its own. By morning my husband and I were looking forward to breakfast and leaving, after all you check into a B&B for the exceptional breakfast. To our dismay, we had One option, a fluffy French toast and 2 pieces of bacon. We had to serve ourselves coffee. I wish Foxfield Inn was available because honestly we had 3 course breakfast meal and a nice room with a nice hot tub for 250.00 than the 458.27 I paid for such a dismal, unpleasant Bed & Breakfast. We will not be returning to the Mercersburg Inn.

After a lovely drive we came upon this beautiful gem in Mercersburg. Perched on the hill and enclosed in dramatic pine and sweeping lawn the home beckons. Our room was so special with such attention to fine details of decoration without being overdone. It was so special to be actually staying in such a historic place usually the type that you just get to visit. We enjoyed a walk through the academy and visited a very nice State Park close by. Awesome says it all. I accidently stumbled onto this magnificent old hotel at 11:00PM and had no idea what to expect when I rang the door bell. I was greeted by one of the nicest most interesting lady's I have ever met. Her name is Lisa and she made me feel like her and her husband Jim had been waiting all day for me. It was like stepping back into time with a touch of true class. The rooms are each very unique, some with private balcony's. The rooms do not have a TV and I thank God for that. They are equipped with Wi-Fi if you really need to be on your computer. The entire hotel is so immaculate and squeaky clean it makes you smile. The sheets are so crisp they smell fresh-air dried like my mother did when I was a kid. The prices are fair, the staff is their when you need them and not when you don't. I took a lot of pictures because I knew no one would believe what I found. I can't wait to come back again with my wife and best friends so they can share this experience. The town is very historic and it even has an ice cream shop called Just-In Time. This is not just a nice place to stay, it is a magnificent experience. Thank you Jim and Lisa.

The INN is a wonderfully restored and kept mansion. Each room was restored and decorated with great thought and detail and in keeping with it's early 1900's origin. It was very enjoyable to browse through each uniquely decorated room. The owners were very engaging and we found it easy to break into conversation. Our breakfast was fruit, coffee, juice, a warm breakfast cake and a delicious goas cheese tart. It was a 10! We will definitely be back.

Even the towels were soft and amazing! The attention to detail was well noticed by my wife and I. We had the privilege of dining at the Inn as well! It was a perfect end to our day with a superb dining experience. Yum! We can't wait to return again as soon as we can!!!

We have stayed here many times over the past few years and love it more each time. Beautiful accommodations, warm and helpful staff and we always have the most delicious dinner at the restaurant. Just an awesome place which I wouldn't have any hesitation to recommend. We will be back again and again! I honestly can't say enough good things about this place.

Jim and Lisa were wonderful hosts and the king upgrade was so thoughtful and such a comfortable room. I only wish we had another night there. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed exploring the grand third floor rooms afterward. Our traveler's to-go pack was a nice send-off touch and it came in handy too! Jim and Lisa, you have a very special way to make travelers comfortable in your beautiful historic home.

Four of us spent a wonderful three nights there and were more than satisfied!! The staff are exceptionally helpful, the rooms are beautiful and immaculately kept. The included breakfast was amazing. Mercersburg itself is pleasing and relaxed -- and this Inn fits right in to that atmosphe. We will be back again soon for another relaxing weekend!

I booked their two most expensive rooms for my bridesmaids and I this past July for my wedding weekend. We also had our rehearsal dinner held at this Inn. I was immediately met with an incredibly rude receptionist. The wait staff at our rehearsal dinner were so rude to my entire family that I was mortified. I even heard them talking about my family afterward because they were upset when one of the children needed to use the bathroom. I went outside to take some pictures and some of the wait staff were outside smoking during our dinner. Even the owner and his wife were completely rude to me and my bridesmaids on my wedding day. I found out later it was all because we didn't book more rooms when I asked the receptionist if we had done something to make everyone so rude. I have never been treated in such a way in my life any where. And I will never return to this establishment.

I recently spend one night at the Mercersburg Inn. It is a beautiful, historic mansion converted to an inn. I spent a quiet summer mid-week night in a perfectly appointed and comfortable room. I was able to peek in the other rooms which were all unique and beautiful. The Inn host was informative and friendly. A delicious breakfast exceeded my expectations. The hosts sent us off with leftover quiche and a few other goodies for our day. I would love to return for a special event weekend.

was exceptional. Food was mediocre, to salty for our taste. The carriage house was similarly well appointed. All in all a very nice overnight.

My fiancée and I will be getting married at the inn in March and has never been there before so we went for a night to view the inn and meet with the innkeepers to go over details of the wedding. Jim has gone out of his way to arrange meetings with vendors and assist in the planning whenever we need. Our room was beautiful and spacious. Everything from the food to the grounds were beyond expectations! We cannot wait for our wedding!!!

Recent renovations in keeping with the style and age of this Inn make it a wonderful place to stay for a night or a few days. A full breakfast is included in the room price which moderates the room pricing; a plesant surprise. The Inn provides clean, well kept rooms, several common rooms on the ground floor and basement. If you are in the Mercersburg area, this Inn is well worth considering.

This is a beautiful Inn. We were in town for a wedding and didnt get an opportunity to thoroughly enjoy our stay for we were not at the Inn very long. We had a lovely surprise when we arrived. They had upgraded our room for us! Hopefully we will get an opportunity in the future to visit again. Thank you for such a smooth and hassle free stay in this gorgeous building.

Felt like we were nickel and dimed - $10 charge to make up fold out couch when there was already a cot in the room.....................nice but pricey for the middle of nowhere.

The Mercersburg Inn is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting the Mercersburg, PA area. It is a beautiful historic home located right in town. Some of the rooms are very expensive, but the less extravagant rooms are lovely as well. They serve a wonderful breakfast every morning which is included in your room rate. Byron's Restaurant is also open in the evening on weekends for dinner. We had a delicious dinner there the first night of our stay.
