Such a wonderful hotel!!! The patio, breakfast, proximity to so many restaurants and shops…my stay was fantastic!

The hotel is excellent. Parking is convenient, the breakfast is very good, and the rooms are extremely clean. Everything is very well maintained, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We canceled our other hotel bookings and decided to stay here instead.

The private patio was also a plus.

Cute boutique motel, excellent breakfast, nice remodel and upgrades. Off the beaten path and 1-1.5 miles walk to get to restaurants.

This is a charming and private oasis in the middle of town. I will stay here every time when visiting home going forward.

The main problem was that the room was smelling really bad when we checked in. I found a creepy Crawley bug, about 2 inches long, in the bathroom. We had to sleep with the French door open and the fan running to clear out the air. My son developed a cold due to this.

This was an excellent find in spendy area. Cozy, clean and quiet. Staff friendly and helpful. It’s rare to find nice glasses ( not plastic ) and real plates and silverware at breakfast. Loved the private patio off our room. All details felt thoughtful and what I would have expected to find at a more expensive hotel. Even had towels on lounges by pool. We are in the area often for family and will make this our first choice from now on.

Location was good near our grandchildren school, easy walk. It was an uncomfortable stay:Several things occurred. We made staff aware of the issues. Upon check out the manager said she was going to credit us the most expensive day$ 330+ for the inconvenience but we have not seen that on our account nor have had any communication.Its been 3 weeks since check out. -Night 1- no hot water for shower or cleanup, wasn't resolved till end of the day 2. -Day 2 went for walk after breakfast 1.5 hours come back a crane ( boom lift) and tree surgeon were cutting down the tree in our patio, the patio was not useable till end of the day, could not nap, chain saw and beeping back up truck howling into the patio off our bedroom. Saw dust and mess everywhere. No communication from the staff only a sorry we were not informed. -Day 3 we called before booking and were told the pool was heated.Another reason why we we booked so our grandchildren could take a quick swim. They jumped ( 5 and 7 years old) in and it was freezing very cold. Miss information! - We found and Killed 6 big spiders and the room had ants. We did not eat in the room. If there was accurate and prompt communication the stay would have been better. We like the place overall. For the price in a service industry we expected better than below average non functional amenities.

Pool was closed :( The images aren't wrong but perhaps misleading. It's definitely not in some nature oasis type setting, it's definitely just in the middle of a city with apartment complexes to both sides. The room itself was spacious and clean.

The Cottages Hotel has a lovely setting tucked back in the trees. The rooms are private and very clean as are the entire property grounds. Location is minutes away in any direction from any destination. Hotel staff was friendly and welcoming as is their check-in/lobby area offering a variety of beverages and snacks. I will definitely stay again and highly recommend The Cottages Hotel to anyone needing to stay in the area.

The beds are wonderfully soft with just enough firmness and the room is near and clean. Only two downsides are the private patio furniture has a massive quantity of spider webs so I won't be sitting out there and I have counted 3 mosquitoes in the room that I cant seem to kill so I have ended up with a five or six mosquito bites already.

The room was on the smaller side but very very clean and had everything you could think of. The decor was spot on. We were in town for a local soccer tournament. It was nice to have a quiet nights sleep without doors constantly slamming or people running up and down hallways. Parking was so easy. We will be staying again.

The only suggestion for the hotel is to make the hotel sign more visible especially at night. It is a bit difficult to see when street parked cars block the view of the entrance.

Spent two weeks travelling on business and, as an experienced and frequent traveler, I can 100% vouch for choosing this hotel as your next option to stay in Northern California. The hotel service will pleasantly surprise you with incomparable value for money. I visit Palo Alto a couple of times a year and have decided to stay here every time. The rooms are clean and thoughtfully designed, the grounds are beautiful, and parking is easy. Can’t ask for much more. Looking forward to staying here again!

My girlfriend and I were looking at hotels near the Stanford Shopping Center since we'd be there for a little getaway. What really caught my eye from the pictures at first from The Cottages Hotel was the breakfast - I thought "damn, full omelets? That's new." So we went, thinking that it was hard to tell what the rooms were really like from the pictures, but at least there was a little outside patio to sit in. Upon entering the room, we noticed how nicely lit the place was, how spacious the backyard was, how clean the bathroom and room were, and there were all these cool little accommodations such as ear plugs and a scented spray for sleep. The area itself is very peaceful and surrounded by nature, and overall we felt like this was a real getaway. I think the occupancy of the place was also very small, which allowed the staff to be more personal and attentive to manageable sizes. The staff, speaking of, were very willing to help with little needs we had: an extra pair of slippers, a garbage bag, forks, plates, etc. Overall, already thinking of coming back in the future!

Stayed two nights in conjunction with knee surgery at Stanford and was perfect. Had a single room before surgery and double after, both were extremely comfortable and comforting. Lovely piece of property close to Stanford and other amenities. Great breakfast and price, too. It almost turned a knee replacement into a lovely two-day getaway!

This place is a little gem in Menlo Park. Exceptionally clean, very well maintained, nice staff, little touches like complimentary coffee and breakfast were a hit with our group. By far one of the best places we’ve stayed in the Bay Area! Will definitely revisit!

Very clean, felt very safe. Large bathroom/shower. Breakfast is absolutely fantastic, no short cuts. One evening I had I decided to microwave a dinner and the front office allowed me to use their microwave. Will return again. The quality and service is excellent!

The Cottages Hotel is strong on service, extremely clean and comfortable and amazingly quiet (thanks to being set back from El Camino Dr). The location is a bit removed from downtown Menlo Park, so perhaps best for those with a car or who don't mind being one of the few people walking along busy roads. I would happily stay here again.

This was my first stay and The Cottages and won't be my last. The grounds are well manicured and inviting, complete with comfortable outdoor furniture in a courtyard with a large fireplace. My room had it's own private patio with table and chairs. The rooms were spotless and modern, with automatic ambient lighting, wood floors, attractive decor, and a luxurious shower space. All the little details were taken care of. The breakfast was delicious, with many offerings, stoneware plates and gold flatware. So many nice extra touches. This is my new favorite place to stay when I come visit my son at Menlo College (and it's right across the street from the school!).

Great hotel! My room and common areas were exactly like the photos on the website. Very clean and spacious and comfortable. I was there for 2 weeks and enjoyed my stay. One comment is that their website says there are bikes for rent, but this isn’t the case. The location is a bit far from Palo Alto, but if you have a car or just Uber/Lyft will get you everywhere. Super quiet and the gym is small but clean and the laundry facility is also helpful when you’re staying so long.

I was in town for a family memorial service and this could not have been a better place to stay. I had grown up in Atherton and loved the vibe of The Cottages. The staff were incredibly loving and helpful. Special shout-out to the 3am shift because I stayed on east coast time and was up having coffee in the wee hours. There are lovely outdoor seating spaces, the breakfast was a treat but really it’s the people and the vibe that made it feel very much like coming home. I don’t know when it ever I’ll be back but if I do, this is exactly where I’m staying. 💓
