Reviews
The hotel is appreciated for its historic charm, unique decor, and central location. However, shared bathrooms and inconsistent service are common complaints.
- Historic charm and unique decor
- Central location with easy access to local amenities
- Shared bathrooms can be inconvenient
- Inconsistent service quality

Don't be put off by the shared bathroom, it's way cleaner then half of the hotels I've stayed in! It's right downtown. Comfy beds. Staff was great. Couldn't ask for anything else, a wonderful stay. Ah, one thing, parking is about 2 short blocks away, but safe, easy walk.

Fun and quirky, get one of the 3rd floor patio rooms if it is hot
- 4/5
There was ice available at the bars. The only problem was I have Celiac disease, and they had no gluten free options. Luckily there were safe places right down the street.

Location. Unique property. Our AC worked initially but not overnight. Room was very small but cute and clean.

Excellent location! Communal Bathrooms down the hall but hard to retrofit such an old building with a bathroom in every room.

The room was very small, but cute, with antique furniture which gave it a 40’s feel. There were no bathrooms in the room, but the women’s restroom and shower was right down the hall. The only problem for me was that the bed was firm, though there were several pillows, which helped.

Very good

2nd stay at this property. Highly recommend. Fun down town to walk, close to Mt. Angel, Silverton, Aurora. Lovely vintage homes to admire in the area, good antiqing.

This is a very unique place to stay. Comfy bed, clean rest rooms, great roof top bar, but the rooms only have very old sink fixtures but lots of hot water. It’s one of a kind and I liked it.

Location The booking. Com confirmation makes NO mention that it has a shared bathroom down the corridor… not a problem but a shock!!

Love each of the fun bars they have throughout the property. Maia and Trevor and John were each superb bartenders. Must stay when you are in McMinnville.

Friendly staff, nicely decorated/furnished rooms. Mattress was very uncomfortable.

Squeaky doors on rooms make a disruptive sound to others when getting up at night to use the toilet. Last year, we were served coffee in a beautiful lounge on the second floor, which wasn't utilized this year. I would recommend providing again. The generator is a little loud, but otherwise it is a great value for the price.

McMenamins is a flash back to a different era with an Old West feel of boarding rooms of the Great Western Expansion with echoes of rock and roll bands of the Rocking Seventies. Each room is decorated with colorful details and interesting quotations scrolled on the walls. The hotel has a pub, cellar bar, and rooftop bar and eatery offering diverse places for introspection, conversation, and refreshment. Located on the main street, the hotel provides easy access to multiple tasting rooms, restaurants, and shops! A great get-away! Within the facility was band/ music- fantastic no need to venture anywhere elsewhere Our room was next to a “heater vent” so a little noisy.

Such a fun place to stay, kind staff, clean, fun atmosphere, comfortable! Perfect little room for a home base and go out and enjoy the area! Wonderful to be able to have my dog along for the trip, too! Music on Friday and Saturday was a delightful bonus!

Very cool property, the staff was so much fun to be around, there are places to be with crowds, and there are places to be quiet and it was fun to walk around and look at all of the history. Our room was right above the music venue and unfortunately, we had gone to bed early so we could hear everything in our room until it ended. Luckily it ended at a decent time and we didn’t have to buy tickets because we could hear everything very clearly in our room.

Parking was a couple blocks away, not bad as long as you don’t have a lot of stuff. Staff was great, bar was great just didn’t sleep well. Heard lots of “beds creaking” above me all morning. Walls are paper thin.

I would recommend a QR code to be able to pay a tip for the cleaning staff.

Charming.
- 4/5
What a unique experience. Loved exploring all the unique features of this hotel. Located in downtown McMinnville allows for several food options and shops. Rooftop bar was cool, restaurant was great. I wish we’d had a little more time so I could’ve explored and experienced all the hotel had to offer.
- 2/5
We got a very small room. Other queen rooms are bigger and the same price.
- 5/5
This hotel is in a very old building. The place has a ton of character and is lots of fun. Our room was very small (almost all bed) and the bathroom was a community bathroom down the hall.
- 4/5
We went with another couple and would have liked to have adjoining rooms with a shared bathroom. They got the last one so we got a separate room, communal bathroom. Turns out the 2 rooms with connected bathroom is what they had! They said there was nothing to indicate that on the reservation. The staff were really nice and comped them a night, and took $100 off of what we paid. But it could’ve gone so much more smoothly if it were clear at the outset that not only did they have two beds but they also had two rooms with the bathroom connecting them. We are doing the passport thing together, but it looks like I’ll have to pack my own food for the future visits. There are 28 locations. I think a company this big could do a better job of accommodating food allergies. It’s not like a food truck with limited options. Maybe their old kitchens are limited, but I’m still not looking forward to the future visits.

Loved being in McMinnville, and usually love McMenamins. This property is one of the older ones, and doesn't seem to have been maintained carefully. Lots of scuffs on the walls and doors. Still enjoyed our stay, just wish they'd spruce this wonderful property up a bit to bring it back to its glory!
- 5/5
I choose McMenamins whenever possible because I know that it will be a memorable stay filled with unique experiences! The Oregon Hotel did not disappoint with delicious food, gracious staff and a restful nights sleep. Five stars!
- 5/5
rooftop bar was cool
- 4/5
This hotel has small rooms and no bathroom in the room you have to share a common bathroom
- 5/5
Classic old hotel, well restored. Walking distance to excellent food and nice neighborhoods.
- 5/5
It's an amazing place, really cozy and unique. There is a pub, a cellar bar, another one on the roof..the rooms are really nice too.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
The shared bathrooms are not cleaned regularly. The sink in the bedroom does not drain
- 2/5
The room heater was incredibly loud and prevented me from getting much sleep at all. Also, because of the shared bathroom, there was no water to drink in the room and no bottles of water available anywhere on the property. Would never stay here again!
- 5/5
We had a great stay. It was perfectly located and had so much to walk too. We definitely would stay again
- 3/5
No bathroom in the room. Had to go down the hall to shower. It was noisy due to bar and restaurant.
- 3/5
The images on Expedia are wrong. I booked two queen beds with a shared bathroom. The pictures show that they are adjoined with the bathroom in the middle so the four of us can all stay close together. When we arrived that was not the case we were on totally different floors and shared a bathroom with everybody on the floor. Spoke to the staff about it and they said they are aware of this and multiple people complain about the inaccuracy of it but there was nothing they could do because that room was booked
- 5/5
We very much enjoyed staying at the Mcmenamins Hotel Oregon. Each of the bars on site were unique and fun, and the staff was attentive and friendly. The blocks around the hotel have fun shops to explore as well. It was a perfect little getaway!
- 5/5
Clean and interesting as usual at McMennamins properties, love them!
- 5/5
Hotel Oregon was amazing. I was nervous beforehand about the common bath but it was so clean. The front desk staff was so nice and helpful. The property was really cute and right on the main street. I will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
We loved this historic building and all of the unique amenities! McMinnville was super fun for a short visit.
- 4/5
Although this hotel is pet friendly, the closest park is several blocks away. There is not a place for pets at the hotel and they can’t go anywhere but the room and cannot be left alone in there. Bit disappointing in that regard.
- 5/5
The entire staff of this hotel are truly diligent and committed to customer service. It is the BEST location in McMinnville. I will definitely choose to stay again.
- 5/5
The restaurant has great food and the staff is always friendly.
- 4/5
Awesome hotel great staff, love the history and the way we came about the UFO story. Great location. Restaurants close early in the are 9PM is the time. One minus, the hotel thin walls are not to our favor noise is an issue from other rooms.
- 4/5
Love the decor
- 5/5
Quirky historic hotel which is right up my street. No on-site parking but there is a free parking garage just a block or two away. Very convenient location. Many rooms do not have their own bathroom so if that matters, pick one that does.
- 4/5
Historic hotel with very fun decor. Very small room with the bathroom located communally. Fine if you know that going in and workable if you spend most of the day walking or eating in the city. My only issue was the Expedia room options show only one type of room and says there is a sink in the room. While some rooms have sinks, not all do. So just be prepared. The good news is the room rate is very reasonable, and the downtown location is prefect. One other note - the hotel does not have parking as noted in the Expedia description; however, there is free city parking a couple blocks away.
- 4/5
Love all the artwork and calligraphy!
- 5/5
Exactly what i was looking for. Clean, quiet, perfect location

Property is for the real traveler, far away from sterile Hilton. Enjoy the ride. Great beer and food.

This is a McMenamins. That alone should say enough!
- 5/5
Great histrionic property, staff is excellent. Rooms are ea ch a unique experience
- 5/5
The cellar bar is dreamy and comfortable!
- 4/5
There was a lot of noise either coming from the rooftop bar or down on the street. Probably couldn't be avoided. If I was a partier it would have been fine. :) We were on a motorcycle trip and needed a good nights sleep, so a little bit disruptive.
- 5/5
Very nice place to stay
- 2/5
community bathrooms suck
- 5/5
The hotel is really fun and interesting. Each room has been named for someone. The bathrooms are shared so check what you need. Our room also had a small sink plus robes for hall travel. The bathrooms and showers were immaculate. Small toiletries of shampoo, conditioner and soap are in each room. The food and drink is really good.
- 5/5
I liked the old-fashioned feel and the dim lighting, as well as the awesome rooms with bathrobes, wine glasses and essentials. ☺️
- 5/5
Clean fun room
- 2/5
Overall would not stay here again for the price- cool vibe but not peaceful/cool enough when paying a decent amount of money. I hear other McMenamins are better and I would give them a try. I personally felt the coolness factor of this one didn't outweigh the cons of shared bathrooms and some unusual things happening during our stay. Bars closed relatively early. I expected the bathrooms to be kept a bit cleaner considering they are shared. They weren't bad but they weren't immaculate like I would want. Staff was friendly, especially the bartender in the roof bar. Cool place to eat or hang out but I wouldn't stay the night.
- 5/5
I loved the B&B vibe and historic feel of the place.
- 5/5
Liked eveything - amazing old.world hotel.
- 3/5
Parking can be a bit awkward. My initial room was very noisy (external air con unit, maybe). The staff were helpful and changed me to a quieter room, but there was still some noise. The bar was pretty nice, and the truffle fries were tasty.
- 5/5
Historic and quirky hotel with great bars. The mason jar in the room for beer/cider to-go was a nice surprise.
- 5/5
Front desk was very helpful with check in and local knowledge about shopping and restaurants!
- 5/5
The atmosphere
- 1/5
I will not be staying there again.
- 5/5
Love the mcminnamens properties feels like home
- 5/5
Eclectic place. Different. Comfortable. Nice folks running it. It's old, so heating is noisy, but big deal. Great location in McMinnville. Very close to wine tasting rooms!
- 1/5
Very rude front desk clerk. Front desk clerk complaining about being short handed, and had no breaks in the last few hours. I had to cancel my reservations due to her attitude.
- 5/5
Convenient location within walking distances of most downtown McMinnville destinations. Staff were always friendly, accommodating, and helpful!
- 5/5
Very unique property in the heart of McMinnville. Very helpful and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Big fan of McMenamins. Love the charm and coziness. It does seem to need small renovations, eg large cracks in the walls. Also, the food didn’t meet our expectations; I’ve eaten at eight different McMenamins, and this location didn’t match previous experience. Breakfast was served cold and lunch had dry bread.
- 4/5
Room could have been cleaner.
- 4/5
Only thing that would have been nice was a television :)
- 5/5
So - moseying (moving) from Seattle to LA - I was a bit surprised when I arrived and was told I had to share a "common bath" and there was no designated parking area. I made the reservation in a hurry, so did not do my part and research. However - I ended up staying an extra night it was such a cool place and very clean and comfortable. I didn't get the names of all the staff - except Steven the bartender - but all went out of their way to help. Steven suggested I put some of my belongings in the basement to keep them safe. Since all my "stuff" was in my vehicle they let me park right by the hotel and the staff kept an eye on it for me. The common bath's are kept very clean and the hotel provides a fluffy robe. Rooms are small, but the Bed is extremely comfortable - and seriously - you're not going to spend that much time in your room. My room was right off the courtyard, so I was able to step out into a beautiful outside area and my room didn't feel so small. The history of the place is very cool and it's situated right where you want to be to explore the downtown area and tasting rooms. I would definitely go back - clean, comfortable, and priced right.
- 3/5
The guest on the other side of the bathroom locked me out of it and i couldnt get into it for my stay. Other than that the room was nice and the courtyard it opened to was really cool.
- 5/5
Great location, great food and drinks. The main reason why I booked this hotel was for the rooftop bar but it was closed when I went, it was out of their control due to the wildfires. The common bath was interesting but not a deal breaker for a one night stay. Overall neat place with lots of history.
- 4/5
A wee bit small, no telly, usual shared bathroom. Easy and pretty patio, just off room. too bad it was so hot that roof bar was shut down all three days and restaurant grill was off. AC was great.
- 5/5
The hotel and its bars/restaurants is the epicenter of the McMinnville downtown. Great choice, and the artistic elements of the hotel and bar will keep you occupied for hours.
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
Amazing staff. Welcoming, efficient, positive, clean and fun. Stephanie,(Kalama) who was filling in, enhanced our stay even more so. We will recommend and definitely visit again.
- 5/5
Fun setting, great staff, bars and restaurants are inviting with great food and drinks. The free coffee, made with the company’s own coffee, and tea in the morning is appreciated and is served in a relaxing, inviting space.

If you have time, visit the Evergreen aeronautical museum; amazing place!!
- 5/5
We loved the rooftop bar and view. Dinner and breakfast were very good.
- 4/5
Perfect location but bring your own Wi-Fi hotspot. Just saying!
- 5/5
I love the location of Hotel Oregon around all the small shops in town. My favorite is always the in hotel dining. The disabled (no step) entrance is through the pub so that is only available when the pub is open but I made do. Also hotel parking is a couple blocks away unless you can find street parking.
- 4/5
Of course, another solution is, I could’ve taken a closer look at previous reviews! 🙃 Secondly, customer service was mixed. “Papa John” at the front desk went above and beyond with customer service helping my daughter with her very specific dietary needs. Appreciated! The hotel restaurant staff seemed tired and overworked. Overall, we had a nice day. Our unit and the communal bathrooms were clean. And the building is quite charming. Note We are a family of color, and we noticed that this town is…white. I appreciated that there were BI POC and other marginalized groups employed at this hotel.
- 5/5
I loved my overnight getaway. I was pleasantly surprised at the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The room was cozy, and earplugs and a nice robe were provided for my use. The walk to the bathroom was not a problem for me. I love the history of the hotel and all the pictures all around. My meals in the pub were good, and so was the service. Nothing at all to complain about! I will be back!
- 5/5
Great stay, fun hotel dog friendly! They loved our dog!!! perfect location to great restaurants, wine tasting, galleries...
- 4/5
Great room. Wonderful hotel. Food In restaurant was pretty meh. But service was great!
- 5/5
It is a historic building and property to McMinnville and that is honored and functional to today's history appreciative traveler.
- 5/5
Funky historic buildings are. . . .historic-meaning the rooms are much smaller and, in our room, shared shower and toilets down the hall. But for the price $99.00 & in the very middle of the historic district in McMinnville, it was well worth it. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Their restaurant is NOT recomended, but their rooftop patio bar is a kick with great bartender.
- 4/5
it was ok. quick note, my room didn't have a bathroom, so when you book, make sure that is something you're ok with. not sure if other rooms have bathrooms, but mine didn't.
- 4/5
The room had a shared bathroom that was not in your room which I did realize when I booked the hotel. Room was tiny which wasn’t necessarily bad. The next day there was suppose to be complimentary coffee but the dispensers weren’t working. When I let the staff know at the front desk they said they’d have someone check on them but didn’t offer us a cup of coffee from the restaurant. I just drink black coffee and wasn’t looking for anything fancy. Hotel is cute and unique like all of them are. I always like to try new experiences. However, with this experience, I will likely not be trying this particular hotel again.
- 4/5
We loved the area around the hotel, it was full of wonderful places to eat and shop. The staff were very friendly as well. The unique atmosphere like the art work, restrooms for the floor (not in rooms), and décor, definitely made the stay feel like we took a step into history. Something that would have made our stay better would be updating the mattresses.
- 5/5
The room was comfortable and uniquely decorated with a biography of someone with historic ties to the hotel. The large armoire was stocked with robes provided for the shared showers. There wasn't a tv there but I didn't miss it as we spent our evening walking main street and taking in the small town's charm. Some of the paint needs touching up for example in the elevator. The complimentary coffee in the Victorian style Maddie's room was charming.
- 5/5
My room was cozy and the shared bathroom/shower area was very clean. The room itself was small and had a sink and the bathroom shower was shared and was down the hall but it worked well for me. As I said, the shared facility was very clean and not a problem for me. The hotel was well located and had a nice restaurant where I ate breakfast. The hotel has an old time feeling (because it is old and historic). There was a lovely room where they served coffee in the morning as well. The rooftop bar is beautiful and has great views of the area.
- 3/5
Took us 15 minutes to find the check in desk
- 5/5
This was our first stay in a McMinnamins. We really enjoyed the art and the history of the building. The staff was great, the food delicious!! I have stayed in hotels with a community bathroom before so that was fine. You are in a busy neighborhood, so there will be some noise but that was not an issue for us. This is right there n the middle of wine country and there were lots of fun shops and eateries.
- 3/5
The hotel itself is great. The restaurants both at the rooftop and in the lobby aren't that great. It took an hour to produce a cheeseburger and pre-made frozen fish and chips... The thing working upstairs let us languish at our table for 15 minutes without asking if we wanted drinks or anything while he/she stared at her/his phone. Couldn't be bothered. Bottom line, stay at the hotel, but go eat somewhere else.
- 3/5
OK if focus is on alcohol intake.
- 4/5
Room was near elevator and quite noisy. Staff varied from friendly to too hip to be bothered. Small room, but could have been better organized to make it more workable. Interesting posters in halls, but off kilter and dusty.
- 4/5
Just a quick overnight but the hotel is super charming with so many nooks and crannies to investigate. The communal bathrooms were spotless with additional sanitizing supplies if you wanted to be sure.
- 5/5
This unique hotel is absolutely worth checking out. Every time I am in Oregon wine country, I stay here...wonderful hosts, nice restaurant with good food, cool rooftop bar and basement pub, and just a really great hotel. The only knock is the restaurant is expensive.
- 2/5
Two of the three bars/restaurants were closed and the one that was open was hosted by unpleasant workers. Front desk clerk who checked us in had an "attitude". Complementary morning coffee in a public room was not monitored so I had to go to front desk to ask for them to refill the pot. This is the third time we have "tried" a McKenamins facility.............there won't be a fourth!
- 5/5
A fun place to stay. Enjoyed all the visual details and the coffee room. Good coffee too!
- 5/5
We appreciate being provided a secure place to park our bicycles.
- 5/5
Love the old hotels, this one no exception. Everything you need within walking distance. Had trouble finding rides out to the nearby vineyards, taxi/Uber availability lacking.
- 5/5
This is a really nice place. Fully renovated old hotel with many nice features. Has an overall theme based on the music that was played on site. Definitely worth going to.
- 5/5
By now the desk person recognizes us!
- 4/5
Good scenery
- 5/5
This place is a magical getaway from a busy life! While it’s okay for kids, the Hotel Oregon really shines as a romantic destination.
- 3/5
This is a such an Oregon original. The hotel was artfully remodeled and is truly fun. You half expect to see a ghost in a “Shining” sort of way. Third Street is a great location. Funky arty shops and wonderful food fir blocks, wv n an outstanding (and rare) classic French restaurant. Sadly, service was very poor. At the rooftop bar, my order arrived, but my wife’s didn’t. The server said,”Didn’t they tell you we’re out if prawns?” Took another 20 mins to get a salad. No comp for any part of the meal. Bad form. At check in no help in finding our room or learning how or where our shared bathroom was. I wanted a cold pack to be frozen better before we went wine tasting. The bartender”well I can put it in there but I can’t guarantee it’ll still be there when you want it.” Really? What’s so hard about that? I declined. I know Ira hard to hire people now, but sad to say, this is often the case at the other four properties I have been to. A great Alt vibe, but no clue about customer service.
- 4/5
Great stay, love the McMenamins vibes always. Only issue I had was trouble breathing at night and based on my hotelmate’s similar reaction we are wondering if it was related to dusty air vents (had the AC on all night). Hard to say. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay!
- 4/5
Diners seem to be enjoying their meals in the restaurant, I ate elsewhere. No TV (I don't need one), good Wifi, but my first room was very small and no table or chair, I switched. The hotel is an experience. Bakery for breakfast next door which looks charming. The fare is ordinary. None of the pastries measure up to good standards.
- 4/5
Always enjoy staying at a McMenamins property and like to support the local company!
- 5/5
Very lovely and great prices over all great experience will continue to enjoy this lovely location
- 2/5
Beautiful hotel with the worst service I have ever encountered. The evening person working the desk was absolutely horrific. Anybody that stays at McMenamin‘s nose it’s a fun, well spirited atmosphere. Not during our stay. Not the McMenamin‘s experience that I am accustomed to you. The evening front desk person needs to work on their behavior. If a property is going to offer scavenger hunts they should have clues for you at the front desk outside of just showing you the picture that you need to find!
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel. If you want authenticity this is your place. Lots of character. Friendly staff. Clean and cozy. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
I had breakfast delivered to my room and the food was hot and delicious. I spent my last night on the RoofTop Bar and was able to see the city from 5 floors up. The staff was pleasant whenever I saw them in the halls. I will stay at other McMenamins and hopefully they will be as nice as the Hotel Oregon.
- 4/5
Wifi was unusably bad, we both had work to do. Breakfast menu had not a single vegan option. Only two pillows in the room, we both need two-each to sleep well. But cute room and right by all the wine tasting cafes in town.
- 5/5
We loved this hotel and the location. McMenamins has done a great job of restoring the place and it has LOTS of character, right down to the creepy pictures on the walls! The really nice lady who checked us in suggested the rooftop bar for dinner, and we saw the most beautiful sunset ever on one side with a full moon rising on the other. We had a room with a shared "jack and jill" bathroom, but no one was in the adjoining room so we ended up having a private bath. Honestly, even in this COVID era it wouldn't have been a big deal to us to share a bathroom - the place was immaculate. My only suggestion would be to add a spray bottle of disinfectant to the shared bathroom so the occupants could spray the place down after use. We will definitely be back!
- 2/5
I loved the property itself, very quirky and fun but the staff was not very nice. Not only that but they didn’t give us the room we advertised and there was no TV to entertain yourself in the rooms. The rooms were also terribly small, there was hardly any room to move around. We were kept up all night from the homeless population around the area breaking glass and shouting and also felt a bit unsafe leaving our car out in street parking. Not the best stay.
