Wonderful hotel overall. Very lovely rooms with good amenities. My one complaint is that whatever they clean the bathrooms and desks with makes them incredibly tacky and sticky. Not pleasant to walk on or touch. Still, will definitely stay there again and be sure to bring some sandals or slippers.

Great hotel a refurbished shoe factory. Every room is unique. The place is spotless, staff is welcoming. Great little continental breakfast art your door in the morning. Two restaurants on site. It was all great. For light sleepers it is near train tracks, they have earplugs if you need them.

If you are sensitive to noise a freight train rolls right by a couple of times in the night. Didn't bother us as we had been driving all day and added a hike at the Natural Bridge State Park, so we were exhausted.

Pros: away from congestion near Liberty Univ., decent pricing, convenient to other eateries, friendly staff! Charming option for an Apple, pastry and warm yogurt each morning. Cons: Construction near area, outdoor parking, limited amenities like offsite gym(YMCA), upgrades to mattress, cleanliness in room, the floor and bedding were gross, exterior windows were filthy, refrigerator was not cold, housekeeping never cleaned my room the entire time I was there. Obstructed view of river, upstairs tenants were noisy and walls are thin and lastly the charming freight train horn which occurred any daytime and nighttime.

Spent two nights because we were in the area to purchase a car. Very pleasantly surprised - the online photos didn't do justice to how lovely the hotel is. Old shoe factory and they paid homage to shoes everywhere you looked (but very tastefully done). Very clean and the staff was friendly and competent. Within walking distance to the town and other restaurants. There was a nice paved walking/biking path along the James River below the hotel - they supplied bikes and it was a beautiful ride. Continental breakfast (muffin, yogurt, fruit, OJ) delivered to your door in an old shoeshine box. We highly recommend the Craddock-Terry Hotel.

There are limitations on breakfast options and although the “muffin in a shoe box” is a cute idea it’s becomes a bit lame by day 3. So my advice is mix it up a bit - offer more on the menu for breakfast. Add a decent espresso coffe machine etc

Included breakfast with orange juice, apple and a muffin was delivered to our room. It was ok, but not great. No napkins, no plates, no choice of fruit or type of muffin. Just a little limited in a not inexpensive room.

I’m conflicted. Loved the concept of a former shoe factory now a hotel - the theme was well done - and nice staff. But the room has dead bugs in the corner next to my nightstand. Also, the trains are so loud - they literally blow their whistles throughout the night - that each room has a noise machine and they give you earplugs at reception. I would have skipped this place if I had known about the trains. Generally, the Craddock Terry did not live up to the high ratings.

My grandsons (3 and 5) loved the size of the room and bathroom. Very spacious. The 14' ceilings made the space seem enormous. They loved the different shoes on the doors, so we took a tour to see them all. Then we decided which ones we liked best. A great way for them to unwind after being in a car seat for 2 hours. The diffuser was fabulous. We all loved that aspect of our stay. The complimentary breakfast and the shoebox delivery system was a real treat for them, also. They loved having their own bag each morning. The location was perfect. We enjoyed many aspects of Lynchburg especially the ones for children: the Bounce Place in the Mall, the Aquatopia for animal interaction; Amazement Park -- totally AWESOME. 4 levels of fun. We were visiting Bedford to see family over the Fourth. I am so glad I chose to stay at Craddock Terry. The room allowing 5 was the BEST. I (the Gram Gram) slept on the very comfortable sofa. The people were extremely friendly, even though we had two rather rambunctious boys. I took one of them to the lobby for about 45 minutes so the little one could nap. We looked at the Virginia Living magazines and talked about the pictures. No one complained about his lying down (no shoes) on the nice sofas. We became the "welcoming crew" when new folks checked in. Many had dogs and were agreeable to let my grandson pet them. I could continue; however, I think you can tell how impressed I am with this hotel.

Love the vibe of the renovated shoe factory, beautiful rooms and centrally located to enjoy the town. We’ve stayed here once before and appreciate being able to bring our dog we were located in the adjacent building directly over the patio area. It would be helpful to have some black out curtains as the shades don’t block out the lights which are plentiful in the front area of the hotel/restaurant. Also a Young Life group was meeting on that patio creating a tremendous amount of noise, it wasn’t the end of the world as they were out by 9:30 but the whole Jesus vibe was a bit over the top..just saying.

The uniqueness of the hotel was charming. Penny Loafer was not on duty while we were there but love the idea of her as a greeter. Love the architecture throughout, shoeshine box as a picnic basket for the continental breakfast, small detail of art work in form of postcard left on bed, high ceilings in rooms, very spacious rooms. We would stay again. Showers leaked severely onto stone tile floor, inspite of trying to ensure that everything was sealed when in use and door was not left open to drip afterwards. Water pressure in shower was low but I can live with that considering the age of the hotel. Toilet room window sill was very dirty, good thing we don't use it for anything. Very firm beds, not for me and my husband but many people prefer very firm beds.

Hotel was nice. Only downside is no high end free coffee-for this price…: also no gym but they do provide passes to local Y. They also have bikes outside to use. We are at Shoemakers and it was pretty good but not outstanding. Size of room was huge and staff was super friendly and helpful. Super walkable to local restaurants etc… overall a bit pricey for amenities available.

I was there for my best friend's wedding and didn't want this experience to ruin their day, so I didn't cause a scene at the hotel and bit my tongue. This next part is relevant, as it was repeated to me MULTIPLE times. I'm perfectly fine with my account being charged a "hold" for my entire 5 day stay at the hotel, upon my arrival (I thought this was unusual because on every hotel I have stayed at, I'm used to paying on my check out date but I digress) This "hold" reflected as a pending payment on my account and so this amount was taken out of my account but the transaction is not fully processed until my check out date on Monday. Meaning, the balance wasn't available to me and it can't be disputed, until that day, since it is in pending. Again, perfectly fine with this, I wasn't planning on using the money but for hotel expenses anyway. My issue is that on top of the 5 day "hold" charge which was my entire stay. An additional "hold" separate from the initial one was placed on my account. So, when I brought this to the attention of the front desk clerk. I received multiple lectures on what a "hold" and "pending" charges are. When I explained that MY ISSUE wasn't the "hold", my issue is that I was CHARGED TWICE!. And that although this is a "hold", it was still taken out of my available card balance. I received the same lecture again, as if I was a kid and that eventually that amount will go back to my account. There was nothing they could do until check out day on Monday. Mind you, the payment was placed on Monday but the transaction didn't reflect until Wednesday, so an additional charge was held for a week, for no apparent reason but "the system".

Overall, this is a charming hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly. We really liked the onsite restaurants. I do have a few issues with this hotel though. First, I reserved a premium king room and the actual room size is nothing like the photos they display for a premium king on their website. On their website photo, there is a white sofa in the room. There would have been no room for a sofa in the room we stayed in unless it was leaning up against the wall. See my photo of our premium king room and compare to their website. Second, breakfast consists of a muffin (good), a small Chobani yogurt, an orange juice, and an apple. Both mornings we were there, the apples were moldy. And lastly, there is a train that runs right by the hotel that blasts it's horn going by. It runs late at night. If you are a light sleeper, it may be an issue.

Lynchburg as whole rolls up it’s sidewalks at 9pm so be aware if you are having a late dinner - The elevator was being worked on but truly did not take away from the stay. The continental breakfast is delivered to your room - not a social experience. Very convenient in downtown Staff is amazing - friendliest I have encountered.

Such a cute, well manicured hotel with a cool history. Front desk staff always friendly and available. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms. Walking distance to lots of food options. A really enjoyable stay!

Overall, this is a really nice hotel. However, I expected a lot more for the price I paid. My room was directly over one of the hotel restaurants, and my boyfriend and I could hear EVERYTHING (people talking, laughing, music, etc.) Also, my room had a ton of drain flies, and the toilet leaked every time it was flushed. My only other complaint is the complimentary breakfast. It's nice that it's provided, but it said on the card that it's delivered between 6AM-7AM. That means the refrigerated items could be left out for hours unless the guests are up when it's delivered. My boyfriend and I woke up around 8:45, so we didn't want to chance it. The hotel staff were very friendly, and the small details throughout the hotel were super cute. However, I think this was a one time experience for me due to the price.

Well executed repurposing of a shoe factory into a luxury hotel. Two very good restaurants onsite, with the usual manning issues post COVID. Be aware that property overlooks CSX tracks and at grade crossing which requires trains to use their horns. Windows are sealed throughout. Could use nitelites in bathrooms. Confirmation issue at checkin nicely handled with a room upgrade.

My stay at the Craddock Terry Hotel (in my former hometown) was excellent overall. However, 3 aspects could use attention: 1. I could not determine that that there was any effort to provide recycling of plastics, etc.; 2. I was lodged on a 3rd Flr/wing and access to an ice machine was on the 2nd Flr in a totally separate wing. Sounds like a minor aspect; however, for guests needing ice for personal/ medical reasons, it could be quite an inconvenience; 3. I was attending a University Alumni weekend event and returned to the hotel in the evening to find no Guest Parking access. This was due to the associated/separate restaurant's patrons using the Hotel parking. I waited c.10-15 minutes in the Hotel lot and eventually a restaurant patron was leaving, which opened a parking space.

Our room as located next to the ice machine- extremely loud all night long. Our first morning, housekeeping knocked on our door, despite there being a do not disturb tag hanging on the door, asking us if we were checking out and could she clean! Check out is 11 and we were not leaving until the next day. Would never stay on that side of the hotel again. The furniture in the room was very “worn” . We stayed President’s weekend and the service and stay were much better.

Interesting and nice property with some unique details pertaining to the fact it used to be a shoe factory. Wish we could have tried the "shoebox breakfast" but unfortunately, we had an early flight so we missed that. Also wished we had arrived earlier so we could have walked around the area by the river. Only complaint was the bathroom was very cold as it had a non-insulated wall of brick which was an outside wall. Would stay again though.

The Craddock Terry was even better than I expected. One of the nicest hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. Will be staying again.

There were things I loved about this place - lovely staff, fun decor, comfortable beds, beautiful bathroom, nice restaurants. The chocolate muffin in the breakfast box was a treat. On the flip side, some of the rooms were quite dark - I understand they will be addressing this soon - and we asked to be moved, which we never do. Heating unit makes a lot of noise and if you sit under the vents - which is where our chair and sofa were located - you get a cold draft (heat pump?). The breakfast box fee policy - free, for one person, $6 for the second - seemed a bit misleading. All in all it was a good stay, but given cutbacks in food service, regular room cleaning, etc. I think it was a little overpriced.

This is one of my absolute favorite hotels. The rooms are very spacious with tall ceilings and the beds are super comfortable. The staff is also great and there is complimentary breakfast and parking. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area!

We have stayed at Craddock Terry multiple times over the years so each time is always enjoyable. There are unique amenities that we miss like the NanoSeptic Self Cleaning in the rooms for the remote & in the bathroom and special care for the property like cleaning the windows and panes that were always sparkling but only because we’ve stayed so many times. They also used to have a guest happy hour but no one has mentioned this the last 3 times to us upon checkin. The gift shop has evolved on a better note and offers some wine, trinkets, snacks, and necessities. Overall we would recommend but giving 4 stars because the corporate feel has come into play the past 3 times.

Great use made of this venerable old property. Nicely tied in with the bluff walk and its amenities. Room was nicely furnished with a nice sitting area and comfortable beds and pillows.
