The hotel has a great location, being close to Universal Studios, and the staff is generally friendly and helpful. However, there are consistent complaints about the cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel in general, as well as issues with the smell in various areas of the hotel. Additionally, many guests were unhappy about being charged for parking.

I really liked it – the rooms are clean, there’s covered parking, there are places to eat nearby, and you can walk to Universal Studios or take an Uber, which cost us $9. I’d definitely stay there again.

My family of four stayed at the hotel if you’re planning on going to Universal Studios it’s a short 20 minute walk uphill suggest getting a lift or an Uber ride. If you don’t wanna walk a hill the hotel was OK. The pool was small. The staff was great. We had a great time. Hotel is recommended.

The lobby has an unbearably strong perfume smell. Like something died in there and they are trying to cover it up with perfume. Then you go to the elevator and it’s a different fragrance but equally overpowering. Stains all over the hallway carpet makes me think people puke there regularly. My room was missing a couch. You could clearly see the outline of the missing furniture as evident by the discolored paint. No cable just 5 analog channels. The pool is about the size of two jacuzzis, I have never seen a pool that small.

Close to the destinations we went too. The walls were thin. The a/c was old and loud. The place was remodeled to mask all that. The family suite was 2 adjoining rooms 1 king room 1 2 queen nothing about it felt like a family room. Also for the price they charge they could at least offer breakfast.

The rooms were clean. So was the lobby and public bathroom. Everything was properly stocked in the common areas. But, that is all I can say nice about this property. The “Family Suite” was not as described during booking. The listing suggested the suite included two bathrooms, but there was only one. I went back to the front desk to address the issue and was told we could not switch rooms because we had already “dirtied” the room. Mind you, we literally walked in, noticed the issue, and walked back out. How else were we supposed to discover the room did not match the description without entering it?

The hotel looks alot smaller then expected. Limited paid parking so you cant stay out to late. And its definitely not in the nicest neighborhood. Its good for the money but I wouldn't recommend it, and definitely wouldn't stay here with my kids. They do have free coffee and juice available all day. The staff was nice but the hotel looks old and more like a motel.

and no breakfast included. It’s close to Universal Studios. Please note, there is a parking fee of $27 dollars per night something that does not appear on their third party website. However, the parking was secure and was covered. Across the street there is a gas station, Starbucks, Thai Cuisine, Juice Bar & Cafe, Pizzeria and a small Food store. Next to it is a small picnic park. The area is very neat and safe. I highly recommend to drive to Universal Studios as it’s a little far walking and up a hill.

Get ready to pay almost double what the room is worth if you book in advance, plus almost $30 a night to park in a crammed tiny lot. Prepare for housekeeping to forget to do your room and then skip out when you ask them to do it. Prepare for some really weird attitude from the older guy at the front desk. I thought it was me, but other reviews confirm it. You have to walk over the freeway to get to universal, about 20 mins. Not worth it, never staying here again.

The gentleman at check-in and the parking garage (even though it is accessible to the general public). We enjoyed the pizza shop across the street for dinner and then Starbucks in the morning. Both a 3 minute walk. The floors were filthy. They hadn't been vacuumed in at least a week. The water was brown before it ran clear in the shower. The was a cockroach in the shower. Our remote was missing a battery. The room floors were sticky. The room across the hall was very loud while having sex and we were there with our young children. The gaps under the doors allow sound to travel as though the door hardly exists. The area was sketchy for families. A lot of mentally ill people hangout around it. (Not the Hilt's fault). Parking in the garage cost nearly $30 for the night. The stairwell locked shortly after wr arrived which felt like a huge safety concern. The elevator is a bit janky but it worked well enough.

I booked partially for the pool. It looked like a run down cave. The entire pool room was depressing. Immediately when you walk in to the hotel, there's a heavy air freshener. It is trying to cover up a stench I was never able to find, but it smelled terrible in our room. I had to sleep with the windows open. Not easy in LA. Rooms weren't clean. Socks were found under the bed at check in that weren't ours. Made me question the overall cleanliness. Between that and the airfreshener, I doubt there's much clean vs covered up. Carpet in stairwell was heavily stained.I also didn't appreciate being charged $25 for an early check in. I've never had a hotel charge for that. If the room was ready, great, if not, we wait. They also charged to store luggage, another new one for me. We opted to pay for early access. Was more of a motel vibe and experience than a hotel. I will never stay here again.

The lobby was very nice and smelled really good as did the elevator going up to the rooms. The hallway getting off the elevator did not smell good at all it smelled old and musty and the carpet was dirty. Our room was ok but it looked run down and there was black mold on the bathroom ceiling. The walls had touchups in many places and the door handle to the bathroom was worn, scratched and dented. The mattress was stained and the counters in the room were dirty. The iron had something black melted on it that stained a shirt before I noticed it and the ironing board was stained, dirty and smelled. This hotel needs a lot of remodeling and cleaning done. For the price that they charge it should be better. Also breakfast would be good all they offer is coffee, tea, and juices. The juices do not taste good. The staff were very nice and friendly. Overall I would stay here again just making note of the things that could improve. A breakfast would be nice, cleaner rooms and carpets especially the bed and mold on bathroom ceiling.

Location of the hotel was excellent. Starbucks across the street and a walkable distance from Universal Studios Hollywood. Neighborhood was clean and quiet enough and seemed relatively safe when compared to other locations in Hollywood. The ventilation in the shower/bathroom is horrible. The smoke alarm went off nearly every time someone exited the shower and opened the bathroom door. In the bathroom, after a hot shower, it was difficult to breathe with the door closed.

Parking was easy and convenient, and the location was excellent for visiting Universal Studios Hollywood—only about a 6-minute drive away. There are also several small restaurants within walking distance. A few areas could be improved. The only elevator serving the second and third floors was quite slow and felt more like a service/freight elevator. There was no breakfast offered, and the lobby amenities were minimal, with only a small coffee station and no comfortable seating area, so it did not feel especially welcoming as a common space. Overall, the clean connected rooms, convenient parking, and great location made this a solid choice for families visiting the area.

Property was outdated but in a cute charming way. Beds were comfortable, staff was accommodating, property had pretty lemon trees in the front. Only “complaints” are: no one shared info about the pool & they kept our incidentals without reason & the ice container felt like it was going to break since it was plastic not metal. This property is not what it seems to be. The pictures aren’t accurate. If I knew what I was getting myself and my family into I would have choose a different place to stay. The hotel gave a creepy vibe, like it’s haunted or people died in. It had a horrible smell in the hall way, in our room and in the main entrance. There is no laundry room to do laundry, our key didn’t work to get into the pool. Parking was expensive. The only plus side was we were able to walk to universal studios in 15 mins but the walking too was sketchy. The workers were really helpful and nice though.

This place was spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I don’t love the $200/night incidental hold, as with a lot of other properties are usually no more than $50-$100/night or at least less than the cost of stay. (I think I paid $150 for the night) But I plan to be back as we are pass holders to universal.

My son got 10 bug bites on his back in the first hour just laying on the bed. No conditioner, so much noise above us! I could not sleep and just wanted to get through the night and get the heck out of there!!!’ I let the receptionist know when I checked out and she just apologized nothing more. You will not be resting while staying here! It was like sleeping on the actual highway! There was a pair of homeless teens smoking in parking area of the hotel! This property is old, outdated, and looks nothing like the pictures listed. When we walked in there was a strong Scentsy smell that was likely covering up the issues in the building. When we got to our rooms there was a horrible odor that smelled like mold or something rotten. We had to have the hotel worker come to the room and check it out. There was nothing they could do to correct the issue. There was sticky juice stains on the door, water issues in the bathrooms. We ended up checking out and going to stay at a Hilton hotel. We were not able to be refunded and two rooms cost us $522. It was a wash and we ended up losing that money and having to go to a new hotel and pay again.

Staff was incredibly friendly. The rest was subpar. Room were cleanish as far as clean sheets and bathroom. But there were rusted fixtures in the bathroom and bedroom, the hallways wreaked of marijuana (I’m asthmatic so this really affects me, plus my children), the door to the room was flimsy, and the road noise was extremely loud. I was excited for the kids to swim but the pool was essentially the size of two hot tubs and was not heated (as advertised). Pictures were a bit deceiving. I would not stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights and our room 317 only had hot water for 1 night. Staff didn’t even answer the phone had to physically go down to the lobby. If I’m paying $700 the least we could’ve had was hot water. Staff only offered us to go to another room 308 to “shower only” for 1 day. No room change. Not even a discount or some type of minimal reimbursement for the inconvenience of not being able to shower after being at Universal Studios all day and night. Emailed the property manager and received one phone call with being told they would make it up some way and call back. No call back. No email back. Even Motel 6 would have hot water. Being season ticket holders from out of town we will not be back here. Youre better off staying somewhere that has more parking and hot water to offer.

The bad thing about it is that you have to pay $25 a day for parking. The cleaning staff made the bed but did not leave towels or soap to shower. They did clean the mirror in the bathroom because what we wrote on it was still there when we took a shower again which makes you think they did not change our sheets or clean anything else. The room itself had a lot of wear and tear. We paid $500 for two nights which is more than what I believe the brooms are worth though the staff is very polite, at least the individual that greeted us.

Amenities - we had hot water one day, the rest of the days we were showering in cold water. I tried to call down but the phone didn't work in the room. When I checked out, front desk staff mentioned the lack of hot water - not sure why this wasn't said before or why we weren't offered a new room or anything? The business center (a computer in the front lobby) didn't work - I needed one (which was a factor when choosing this hotel) and it didn't work. The front desk staff was very bizarre in letting me know this too. No hair dryer in the room - had to ask for one. Most outlets didn't work in either room.

    - The overall condition of the property is horrible starting with the smell. The elevator has missing wood trim with dead bugs inside the light fixtures. The carpet in the hallways is wrinkled enough that can cause you to trip on. The door to the room appeared to have some parts missing from the handle. The floor seemed to have a significant "Tilt" with a leak coming through flooring. Some of the lights in the room didn't work along with 50% of the outlets also not working. The windows were stuck open with with mechanism to close them being broken. This allowed us you hear all of the sounds of downtown Hollywood and the freeway. There was a microwave as well that I never used, but the light on the inside stayed on for the 2 days we visited. Last but not least, there was no hot water. Overall this was the worst Hotel stay I've ever had. Most military bases have more adequate housing than the "Tilt Hotel". We stayed in room #201 Hopefully this helps others!

The location is very convenient if you are going to Universal (we walked there). The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and decent. However, the bed was lumpy and the pillows are awful...super small and uncomfortable. The toilet is also very low (you almost feel like you're sitting on the floor) and trying to reach the toilet paper is pretty comical. The exterior is a little run down. The wood is warping and coming apart. Could use some updating there (and adding in some USB plugs in the rooms would be nice). There is no continental breakfast, but there is a Starbucks right across the street. Overall, it was okay. If we were to go to Universal again, I wouldn't mind returning to Tilt (but would bring my own pillow)!

That said, noise is a major issue. The walls are extremely thin, and you can hear everything—loud TVs, crying children, and even a couple in the room above us that kept our family awake for about an hour. We were told there were only two floors, but the hotel actually has three, and we were placed on the middle floor. Being on the top floor likely would have helped, so I strongly recommend requesting it. Maintenance was another concern. The shower drain was slow and flooded the tub, and the sink made loud, intermittent noises that were disruptive enough that we had to keep the bathroom door closed. The air conditioner is also loud and blows very forcefully. The rooms are somewhat dark, the windows do not open, and one window was not properly sealed, causing a cold draft in our child’s room. Additional notes: the in-room phones do not work, USB ports are only in the bathroom (bring a charging cube), there are plenty of outlets, a small fridge, microwave, drawers, and closets are spacious. Overall, the cleanliness really saved this hotel. It’s a good value if you’re on a tight budget, and our second night was quie

I don’t recommend staying here. Our keycard wasn’t working so the desk clerk came to try it himself. It didn’t work for him either so his solution was that someone was at the desk 24/7 so when we need to get in, they could come swipe us in. Um, no you aren’t! Can we get a different room? Oh, yea I guess we can do that. You haven’t used the bathroom yet have you? Proceeds to ask us that two more times then gives us a new room. That key worked but the ac/heat didn’t so we had to sleep with the fan blowing cold air all night that couldn’tbe adjusted. Also, they will charge you $30 for parking, but they don’t have enough spots for the cars. I had to park on the side in a red zone and was told “I should be fine and not towed”. I don’t recommend spending any money at this hotel. Find somewhere else!!

Hotel was ok… clean. Employees were nice. Was definitely longer than a 13 min walk. If u r out of shape it’s a lot of up hill. Also early check in policy before 3 is ridiculous. Our company was hosting a holiday party that started at 3 so wanted to get settled before.. (but 25 bucks when we were there at 2:30) was harsh. It’s the rules but still some exceptions could be made.

I literally had to cover my face while we checked in to stop from throwing up. We had paid for two rooms for four nights and could not cancel. If it were not for that, we would have found a different hotel. The lobby had one horrible smell, the elevator had a different smell and then the second floor had even another smell. Nothing compared to the entry and lobby smell. Thank goodness the room did not smell. The room was equally as bad as the smell. The floor was sticky and dirty. We did not even want to take our shoes off it was that gross. The bathroom was not cleaned well at all and had long strands of black hair everywhere. It did not look like they even swept or mopped the bathroom floor. Most of the grout in the shower was missing with some half effort patch jobs. The tub spout had some kind of patch job around it that was peeling off. There was also something splattered on the wall between the toilet and tub. Blood? The humidity was so insanely high in the room that everything felt wet. We had snacks in the room for our kids and by morning they were moist and not appetizing. The staff are very friendly

We had the standard two queen bedroom. It came with a microwave (which was in poor condition) and a mini fridge (that turned all our food frozen by morning). The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Half the stay the shower ran out of hot water by the time the 3rd person in our group needed to shower. Like, ice cold water would only come out. Not even warm. The towels are super thin and there was never any wash cloths put in our room the entire stay. There is a small indoor pool on property that is heated. Didn’t look super clean but at least it was warm. There is no free breakfast, but there is free coffee and juice in lobby (and a popcorn machine. If you ask the front desk, they will make you fresh popcorn! Our kids loved that). The juice machine has a cold water option so you can fill your water bottles up on your way out in the morning or on your way in for the night (juice and coffee stay open all day). The walk to Universal Studios took us about 20 minutes with pushing kids in strollers. Really not bad at all. Safe area even at night. The hotel is right across the street from a gas station and Starbucks.

This was the worst Hotel stay ever!! We have called everyday since our stay to talk to a manager and no one will connect me to her nor can I receive a call back. We had abs no hot water the morning of check-out. After walking to the front desk multiple times to ask for assistance, we never had anyone come to our room like promised. The front desk was very unprofessional about it and rude. I have never been treated like this at a Hotel. We had to check out without taking a shower. Like I said, we still cannot seem to reach a manager. Please be aware and do not stay here. It is not worth a single penny of your hard earned money.

Unauthorized room service: Our room was serviced without permission or request. Personal belongings were moved, yet the trash from the prior day was left untouched. Beds were made, but extra towels (placed for a water leak) were taken, resulting in water spreading into the adjoining room. Toilet malfunction: Upon returning, the toilet was clogged. Upon informing the front desk a plunger was provided, however I plunged the toilet, so it would be operational, and for adults would not have to share a bathroom for the night. Maintenance unavailability: We were told no maintenance is available on weekends, leaving reported issues unresolved. Telephone inoperable: The in-room phone does not function, requiring us to physically walk to the front desk after unanswered calls. Front desk responsiveness: Calls to the front desk went unanswered after multiple rings, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. Noisy environment: The neighboring rooms have been disruptive, adding to an already frustrating experience. Electrical issues: The outlets in the bedside lamps in both rooms are non-functional, creating both an inconvenience and a safety concern. Altogether, these issues have caused significant disruption during what should have been a celebratory and memorable occasion for my family. Im still waiting gor the manager to teach out.

Cons: hotel maintenance, across the board. The elevator was broken for most of our stay here, the aerator in the faucet needed to be changed, bathroom ventilator sounded like a 747, etc.. No breakfast option (or any room service) and no coffee in-room, at least that I saw, though there is coffee and tea in the downstairs lobby. The street out front of the hotel is very busy- this could be an issue for people with small children. Rooms are a bit sterile and the lobby is a dark cave. They charge $10 to hold your bags for the day and $55 for parking, which are little costs that add up. Amazingly, they had no sugar-free soda for sale in the lobby fridge- are we even in LA?

The property itself is older and definitely shows its age. It smelled like someone smoking pot outside, but the hallway and rooms have a heavy perfume smell that was VERY strong. There was someone dumpster diving in the property's dumpster, and nobody seemed to care. Parking is stacked 2 deep, so the blocking vehicle needs to leave their keys at the front office so they can move your car as needed. The hotel is located next to a freeway, so there is a lot of vehicle noise - that can't be helped, but if you're a light sleeper, you might want ear plugs or some form of white noise.

The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The Hollywood-themed décor gave it some character, and the bed was surprisingly good. Staff were friendly and helpful across the board—they made check-in easy and handled a couple of minor requests quickly. I appreciated the free Wi-Fi, bottled water in the morning, and the in-room microwave and fridge. There’s also a small indoor pool, though I didn’t use it. Now for the downsides: there’s no free breakfast, which was a little disappointing given that some listings suggest otherwise. Parking also isn’t included—it was around $25 a night. Not a deal-breaker, but something to factor into your budget. Noise from upstairs could carry a bit due to the hard floors, but it wasn’t constant. Turn on the air conditioner, thin walls are not noticed after that. In short, the Tilt isn’t luxury, but it’s a solid, convenient option if your goal is to hit Universal Studios and have a clean, quiet place to crash nearby. I’d stay there again.

This hotel is pretty small. We booked it because it's within walking distance to Universal. Each area has a different smell(Lobby, Hallways, Room). I didn't mind, but my family didn't like it. Once on our floor, there was little torn up pieces of paper and some minor trash on the carpet outside our room. When we came back the next day, 80% of it was picked up. Was kinda odd it didn't all get cleaned up. The room was decent. Half the plugs/outlets didn't work. Luckily I bring a power strip to assist. The beds felt comfy at first, then waking with back pain was fun. haha You can hear people walking around above you all night. Which was kind of odd that you would hear it at random late hours. 12a to 3-4a. We stayed for day. The room/beds were made the first day. But nothing on Saturday. I'm sure there's fine print somewhere stating you have to request it on the weekends. Only wish I knew that as we threw our towels on the floor and didn't have any fresh towels the next day. =( I feel the hotel isn't really worth the $1000 for 3 days, plus the parking fee. Not sure why most CA hotels charge for parking now days when they're already getting a hefty price for the room. It would be cool to see a breakfast included. The elevator is a little sketch too. I'm a big guy, so when it dips down a couple inches when entering, it's a little worry-some. Because I don't want to be stuck in there and it makes some weird noises. Internet was splotchy during peak times as expected.

My daughter and I stayed here for our trip to Universal studios. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. We were close enough to walk to Universal but chose to drive over since we didn't want to walk back at the end of the day. Parking is not free but was worth the cost to not have to find parking elsewhere. I would, without a doubt, stay here again.

The location was ideal for universal. However, it was very noisy. Whoever was on the floor above us were walking around, stomping, dropping things throughout the entire night both nights of our stay. I barely slept the first night due to this. There’s no carpeted flooring to help dilute some of the noise so I’m sure that contributed.

Your Ideal Stay for a Universal Studios Adventure! If you're planning an unforgettable trip to Universal Studios on a budget, this hotel is a fantastic find. We were truly impressed by the exceptionally accommodating night manager, whose warm welcome and genuine care made our stay incredibly comfortable. Our room was spotlessly clean, providing a refreshing haven after a day of excitement. Unbeatable Location with Important Considerations One of the biggest perks is the short walk to Universal Studios. While your GPS might suggest a flat path, be prepared for a rather steep hill. If you're traveling with small children, it's also important to note the walk involves crossing two freeway off-ramps and two on-ramps. While only one lacks a crossing button, an Uber is a quick and inexpensive alternative, typically just a mile or two. Relaxing Amenities and Top-Notch Service Beyond the convenient location, the hotel offers a sense of security. Inside, we felt completely safe. And after a long day of exploring, the adorable and warm pool was a welcome oasis, providing much-needed relief for tired joints. We were also incredibly grateful for the front office staff, who went above and beyond by accommodating our rental scooter all day and night when the scooter company failed to pick it up. The Verdict: Great Value for Your Universal Trip

It's a fairly inexpensive hotel near Universal Studios. Some reviews said it was within walking distance, but with two small children it was too far for us to walk. There's a lot of strong smells from cleaning products and sloppily fixed issues. For instance, the shower grout was caulked over instead of regrouted. I don't expect we'll stay here again.

Very nice suite. The smell overall was a bit strong (cigarettes and weed) in the hallways and outside. It is also quite noisy because it’s on a main street.

Room was HUGE with fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The bed was comfortable and pillows were fine. Very clean. The check in was easy. The hotel allowed us to park early even though the room wasn’t ready (10:30 anm) and we walked to universal CityWalk. We were still too early for check in after lunch but the room was ready and they let us have it early (13:00) Second night the guests next door had the tv on ALL night and you could hear it through the walls. Try to avoid room 227 if you like to sleep past 08:00 as it across the hall from the employee break room and they sit in there talking loudly. Location was great for going to Universal Studios without moving the car.

It’s a nice quiet place, the pool it’s more like a big jacuzzi, the lobby have a strong smell, I like that you need the key to use the elevator, it makes me feel safe and the parking is good you don’t need to walk a lot, the only thing is the fridge in the room didn’t work but if you need ice there’s an ice machine on every floor, the location is good, you can walk 15min to universal studios and to the gym a block away, there’s also this good restaurants around, the hotel comes with complementary coffe and ice tea:)

The location was perfect for a very short drive to the parking garage for Universal studios, that was the best thing about this hotel, and the biggest reason we will most likely be staying again. Next time I will request an even # room so hopefully it is a bit quieter and darker. Our room was an odd number and was right across from the gas station, and the bright light shines thru the shutters they had, and I could hear loud cars over our sound machine we brought. But overall it wasn't horrible and it was so convenient.

Critique I’d like to make is the powerful air freshener smell in the hotel hallways, luckily it wasn’t powerful in the rooms, just throughout the rest of the hotel. It wasn’t a bad smell it was just super strong, so if an air freshener can be unplugged that would be great.

Staff was very friendly and the location in terms of how close to universal studios was very convenient. However.. the building is run down, has an odd smell to it, the rooms are worn down and in need of refurbishment, ac in the room didn’t work, and housekeeping came into our room while we were gone, despite having the do not disturb sign hung up. Would not recommend.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend trip to Universal Studios. The hotel was nothing that we expected in the very best way possible. I was assuming to get a rundown motel vibe with the price we were paying, but it turned out to be very nice. It isn’t perfect but they surpassed all my expectations. There are so many restaurants in the area, and it’s only about a 3-4 minute drive to City Walk.(would not recommend trying to walk, unless you’re looking to get your steps in on an incline lol the park is on a hill)

I enjoyed my stay it's aged but quaint and close to universal studios. This helped me keep them steps up. 20-30 mins walking. Restaurants and Starbucks conveniently close as is gas for the quick interstate access the hotel was quiet and comfy but the windows don't have screens and it's surrounded by beautiful flowers, but spiders come with those flowers so no window opening to let some fresh air in. Overall for the rate and the friendliness I'd go back and recommend
