A friend and I just completed a 3 night, 4 day stay at the Palihotel Melrose. I loved the location as a lot of the places I set out to visit were in walking distance which was perfect to recharge in between events. Check in was easy and the concierge has an option to hold your bags before check in if needed. The hotel is fairly small which is the norm for a boutique hotel but I was impressed that the noise level was pretty tame, even with our window staying open most nights. We chose the smaller version of the King size bed rooms, the other option provided a larger square footage and a balcony that we didn't deem necessary for out stay. This hotel ONLY has king size beds, no doubles - keep that in mind. It didn't impact our stay, the bed was comfy and the room was clean but the option for doubles would have been nice too. I wished that there was a closet for storage. Also, the TV has a feature to cast from your phone but it doesn't actually work. If I would have known that I would have brought my laptop or Firestick. We dined at the hotel restaurant once for breakfast and it was great and the prices weren't bad. We did have to request room service and one night our keys didn't work but they were quickly replaced. Overall my stay was 7/10.

Palihotel was a cute boutique with charm for days. However, it missed basic amenities like a place inside the hotel to buy water, toothbrush, tampons. I had to walk down to the 7-11 at night, which was 1/2 a mile away. They do include 2 water bottles and snacks in the room but at a high cost like most hotels.

Nice property with charming front desk staff. Restaurant has great breakfast options and tasty food. Bathrooms are retro style and have excellent water pressure. Air conditioning was uneven - no room control. One day it was not working well, but the staff resolved the issue quickly. If you’re expecting a well designed hotel in a pretty perfect location, you’ll be happy here!

Staff friendly, good restaurant and service, good music in reception, interesting Bohemian decor. There was no way to control the temperature of my room as the hotel sets the temperature for all rooms. Disappointing that the excellent restaurant was closed for dinner. Overpriced.

Its interior is great however it’s a little noisy- rooms are not insulated well so can hear adjoining rooms. You can see they have taken an old building and kitted it out beautifully but haven’t done any structural work to improve it They market themselves well but the hotel didn’t have a restaurant open in the evening and given its location that would have helped and they made you pay for water which given the cost of the rooms already I think is a little steep

Decoration and location were super good. The air conditioning was a real nightmare. Unfortunately, it’s centrally controlled, meaning all rooms are set to the same temperature, which is far from ideal since guests have different comfort needs. During our stay, outdoor temperatures were around 15–20°C (so not particularly warm days), yet the rooms were freezing. We repeatedly woke up in the middle of the night feeling very cold, likely because another guest had requested a lower temperature. We contacted reception several times to adjust it, but were eventually told that the system is centralized and there was nothing they could do. That said, a simple solution could be to provide covers or a way to block the AC vents for guests who prefer not to have cold air blowing into the room. Because of this issue, I would not choose to stay here again, as comfort should be a basic expectation in any hotel.

You can't control the air conditioning from your room. The room was quite hot when we arrived, and it took a long time to reach a comfortable temperature. We used the ceiling fan to help, but it was noisy. Also, you could hear the street traffic. It was hard for me to fall asleep. Lastly, there was a minimal stain on the sheets.

We really enjoyed the convenience of being within walking distance of cafes, restaurants, and shops, which enhanced our overall experience. The hotel’s cozy and artistic design created a welcoming atmosphere, and the availability of secure parking at a reasonable price was a definite plus. Our room was equally charming, contributing to a delightful stay. You can't control the air conditioning from your room. Honestly was expecting more...a hip trendy boutique. It isn't. Felt a bit like a boarding house. Room right on street.though the windows are pretty sound proof. steps from front door and desk. No ability to control air (you have to ask the front desk) . You had 2 options: cold or off. No place to put luggage. No closet. No trash can in room. Neighborhood was trashy. Would not recommend. I Love: the location is perfect for me. Always my preferred stay in LA. Great place. I like the design and laid back atmosphere. Staff are all great! Warm atmosphere. Cool rooms and laid back vibe. Here’s my gripes: Lack of room service/24hr restaurant etc. Blue Daisy is great but the opening hours are a bit random so you can’t get a coffee when you like and no kettle/tea making in room apart from machine that makes lukewarm warm hot drinks. No milk etc. The central air con is also not great but I always stay here and get used to it! I hate paying for water - I think it should be complimentary when you arrive somewhere.

They helped me carry the packages to my room and then to my car. The wait staff at the Daisy restaurant were also very kind. I really enjoyed this spot, it's a quaint hotel in a nice location. My only pitfall about the hotel is the central AC. You have to let the front desk know if you want it to be turned up/down. Other than that I really enjoyed my stay and appreciated the help of everyone!

I booked a deluxe room and upon checking in, they checked me into a regular king room. I had to go back to the front desk to have them look at my reservation to see they put me in the wrong room. Upon entering the new room, the ac was not properly working and I had to ask to have the temp controlled. I went to take a shower and saw that it did not properly drain. I had to take a shower in bath water as it was that bad. They sent an engineer while I was out who also used the bathroom and left the toilet seat up. Upon my return and taking another shower, the situation did not improve at all. The room felt dirty and trying to shower in bath water did not improve that feeling. The walls are also extremely thin so you hear everything going on in the hotel. Would not recommend staying here. When voicing these concerns to the manager, it took them two weeks to get back to me to offer a discount on a future stay. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

They are adept at making decisions on design at the room level. This shows up like functional design elements in the bathroom, for instance, that may offend true aesthetic-oriented people. The room was uncomfortably hot. So much so that we will not stay here again. According to the front desk staff, the HVAC unit is in the hallway and you cannot control the room temp in the room, which gets very hot after sun hitting the window all day. We couldn't sleep and nothing could be done about it. It was like sleeping in a sauna.

Location Outdated, carpet needs to be replaced. Hallways smell. No closets or armoires, even though there is room for one. Not even a luggage stand for bags. If the hotel would just spend a little bit of money to update, it would be great.staff was very helpful and friendly. Should have individual thermostats, not for every 5 rooms. I was freezing.

This is a very old hotel with minimal updates. The elevator did not work, there was no air conditioning, and bathroom fixtures were quirky at best. To get in the parking garage you had to wait in the alley and call the front desk and wait for someone to answer and open the gate.

A beautiful way to experience a Unique and Quaint boutique hotel in West Hollywood/Melrose area. The cafe is only open in the morning and possibly lunch-check with the hotel on times. There is no bar, but fortunately the mini-fridge accommodated with a nice half size bottle of Rose’ and other choices which got us to dinner. We were fortunate to have an excellent dining option at ADQT, French-Japanese within walking distance and I would never miss another opportunity to dine there again. The filet was out of this world as was the report on the sushi and lamb. It is also a unique and posh atmosphere-perfect for celebrations! But the hotel is top notch and close to all the great sites, shopping and super clean and romantic. 5 stars, even without the bar.

The hotel was clean and decorated well, the amenities are minimal (ie a very small fitness suite and no pool) however that wasn’t an issue for us! The rooms are a good size and the beds are SO COMFY! The area on Melrose ave is lovely! Found it to be very easy walking distance of the main part of Melrose ave (with wonderful restaurants/coffee shops and cute boutiques) as well as easy enough walking throughout West Hollywood (and up to the walk of fame) and Beverly Hills! Close enough that you can take an easy, but long (6 miles) walk into silver lake/los feliz which we did- but I’d recommended driving, the metro or Ubers. There is a cat cafe a few doors down where they have rescue cats (ready to adopt!) and it’s also a 5-10 minute walk from Melrose trading post which is such a lovely market! I would absolutely stay again! 10/10!!!

It was a cute and safe boutique hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. I suggest just having a keycard sensor and some other type of security instead of calling front desk to open the parking garage gate to get in. The only complaint I have is the lack of robes, clean utensils (cups/ teaspoons.. we only had one and it’s used) and a full box of facial tissue (there were only a couple left) enough for the stay and the number of people booked in the room. Otherwise, it was a comfortable stay with a lot of food options nearby within walkable distance. Blue daisy is also a good restaurant for brunch.

A really cosy hotel, not very big so was rather quiet and great location. The bed was one of the comfiest I’ve ever stayed in and water pressure in the shower was idyllic. All the staff on the desk were lovely! The air conditioning unit was quite loud and woke me up but the team turned this off for me. I was able to hear the full conversation one morning from the room next door. This only happened on one day though.

I absolutely love the location and the laid back atmosphere the most. Walking distance to farmers market, The Grove and several great local food placed (Canters, Fat-burgers, Joan’s on 3rd etc) and good shopping. Staff are lovely. Rooms are adequate size and I enjoyed the “optional” housekeeping. The restaurant on site is very nice too but a shame it’s independent of the hotel so you can’t charge food to room. Also - top tip - they will give you bottled water for your room. I find the charging for a small bottle of water in the room a bit awful! I hate the set up of the centrally controlled AC/heating. It’s either freezing or too hot and you have to scan a QR code and send a message to reception to adjust your room temperature- such a faff!! I wasn’t keen on the new refurb - been staying here for a while and preferred the old style rooms. My friend was disturbed 2 nights of 5 and had to move rooms due to loud idiot guests making partying in the corridors and a loud tv/snoring neighbour (thin walls!). When you’re coming from the UK and jet lagged - not fun to be woken up like this…
