Very kind front desk folks, all the basics I needed for 1 night

You get what you pay for.

room is very clean and cozy, the staff is very friendly, easy to get around the area where we wanted to go.

Price was decent but I would have rather just upgraded stays for a higher price. Place was renovated and new, however the bathroom wasn’t and you could tell, it was a bit dirtier than the room. Everything worked fine and parking was useful so Id say it was worth the price but not ideal for where you’re staying.

East to get room

There were roaches all over, and not sure how they missed it when cleaning, but there was some bright green gum stuck on the headboard in plain sight.

Undesirable neighborhood, very frightening to be even outside at night or in that area. No amenities at all, very very dirty area. Check-in staff was not knowledgeable, helpful or friendly in anyway. For the price I paid I expected a lot more.. will never stay there again nor would I recommend this place at least not at the price they charge. And even if it was a lower rate, I would still not stay there again.

Good price for the room. Beds are comfortable, good air conditioning and excellent hot water pressure. Free parking was good. Excellent location near tourist attractions and a lot of food options nearby. Cons was the bathroom was a little moldy.

It's a decent spot for travelers coming to LA for a few days and it's located not too far away from the Hollywood walk of fame.

It’s close by public transport and restaurants and stores close by I have stay a few times before but this was the first time I got scammed all the way from the second floor the employee asking what do I want and I said check in so he said wait for me 15 minutes so I didn’t like it at all also the room was not that clean when I check in

It was dirty and disgusting. The floor was sticky as I walked in. The fire alarm on the wall kept going off and loud! The phone in the room didn’t work! I told the manager and he said he would call an electrician for the phone. For the fire alarm, he changed the batteries but it kept on ringing! I had to leave to work so I left (I work nights). When I came back in the morning the alarm kept ringing off still. I walked to the office because the phone didn’t work. He said give me 30 minutes and I’ll change it! I told him I needed to sleep!!! But he said to wait! He changed the alarm but it didn’t work so he unplugged it! The I asked for a different room and he said. I had to wait till 2 pm to get a clean room! I just slept! Cause I was so tired and left to never come back!!!!

Although the room rate was reasonable, there were many negatives. First of all, the refrigerator did not work. Second, the floor was not cleaned - it felt very sticky wherever I walked. There was a cockroach that I saw. So this all was not good. However, the bed was very firm and comfortable, and the water was warm enough in the shower and hot water available in the sink. They had spectrum cable, which had many TV channels. So overall a fair and average rating. Personally, it is my opinion that this would be a good place to stay if the management can make sure that the appliances are working right and that the room is completely clean. Without that, it would be good for one night with no expectations.

Proximity to venues, you can walk to sofi or the forum. Quite a few homeless around, but hard to avoid in los angeles

Found an open condom wrap in the bed. Only allowed to park one car per room regardless of if you're sharing with others. Moist damage to the floor. Beds were comfortable and room layout nice!

Staff was unhelpful and disinterested. Room was very small with absolutely no amenities or microwave. Hotel felt dingy, dated and area felt unsafe.

I would like to start off saying this motel is in a good location to travel to Universal studios and the Hollywood walk of stars. The rate of the room was affordable The room we stayed in was not well kept far as the walls were dirty,writing with makers, shower has mold in the creases. The smoke detector was covered up with plastic to receive better results or Stars could use a little bit more upgrade on the inside needs attention bad no light in the closet also no hangers trash was also in the closet that's the reason Maybe a light should be put in there. Also I didn't see anything about putting cash down as a deposit after already reserving the room that should be explained also instead of reservations not all the time we carry cash due to technology with cards

It’s sunset blvd, so of course you have riff raff lol. But the staff was great, I got there early and they cleaned a room for me and my kids to check in early. They were kind and accommodating.

I’ve stayed a few times and appreciated it every time. Owners are very kind and professional. Very willing to assist with whatever you need. Room is great and convenient if you are traveling to the area.

False advertisement. Definitely does not look like the pictures posted on hotels.com. We were greeted by graffiti and homeless people. A police helicopter circling for quite a bit of time. Check in has a bullet proof window. There was toothpaste in the sink, a wobbly toilet with stains, hair in the shower. There was also a green light behind a vent in the bathroom which made us feel uneasy. Unfortunately, we had to stay because there was no availability at other hotels nearby. Luckily, I travel with cleaning products. I would NOT recommend this hotel and believe that hotels.com should remove this Economy Inn due to sanitary and safety concerns. Im sure Hotels.com would definitely not like their customers to be at risk during their stay. I would like a full refund. I am Deeply disappointed. The only thing about this hotel is the parking lot. Very, very small!! Not a lot of room for parking. But otherwise, a nice hotel to stay in for a few days.

The room was small, dirty and dank. Too many seedy people walking through. Basically no parking. No outlets to plug electronic devices. Staff was slow to respond. Didn’t want to leave my belongings while I went out to get a quick bite.

The hotel is fairly run down and unclean. It’s not run by professionals but by a family whose kitchen is next to the check in counter… the room is old and smelly. Don’t stay if you can afford something better

You get what you pay for. The bed sheet, pillows, the floor, and the walls were a bit dirty. Something was wrong with the toilet too, it didn't flush unless you opened and closed the valve at the bottom, although the front attendant did notify me of that while we checked in. There was hot water though so that's good.

We had to evacuate from the fires in Pasadena and rented a hotel in Hollywood, another fire started and I asked if we needed to evacuate but the host said no, we woke up to ash on top of the car. When we got into the hotel the room and bed were fine but the bathroom was infested by little roaches. Hope they clean it next time!

I will give 4.5 /5 rating. The room is large and comfy; however the entryway and exit of the hotel is very narrow in and out, parking is limited first come first serve (not good) if you have big vehicle will be a problem. Other things than parking is great!

Cute, old style motel in Hollywood!! I loved having my car outside my door. Bed was the most comfortable of my trip!! New TV. Bathtub which was main reason I picked this place. I'll definitely stay again.

The room was clearly not cleaned due to the fact that we found a tooth brush and some eyelashes on the sink and hair in the shower!

this was my second time staying here, and we look forward to staying here again next year! perfect distance from universal studios, ran by an absolute gem of a family and is just a great motel experience. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay near Universal studios and just LA in general, I couldn’t recommend this place more! See y’all next year!

I think this hotel is a great stay for the price. The beds are great, room was clean and he let us check in 2 hours early. Noicrowave or coffee maker are my only complaints

I stayed at this property before a couple of weeks back. I was a good stay apart that the bathroom sink had a leak that formed a puddle of water below. My recent visit, I was given a room where there was water on the bathroom floor. They were kind enough to provide me a different room; however, this also had a leak in the bathroom sink that formed a puddle on the floor as well. They came by the try to fix the problem, but were unable to at the time.

It is a very affordable option if you need a place to spend the night in LA but it is not recommended for longer stays. Please keep in mind that you are paying for what you get. They would not allow me to rent the room. I was told that my boyfriend also needed an ID, and when given to the woman she didn't believe it was him.

No frills motel but great for the price. Very clean but we only had our room cleaned once out of a 5 day stay. Office was very responsive when we needed clean towels. Great location. I will stay here again.

Cockroaches and bed bugs….

this hotel is perfect for a weekend stay! it was exceptionally clean, the ac worked wonderfully, management was super welcoming and friendly, 15 minutes TOPS from universal studios and overall had a wonderful stay. if you are looking for a affordable choice for staying in LA, this is a wonderful choice. the only thing that wasn’t perfect was the limited parking. but it wasn’t anything crazy of course! i would absolutely stay here again.

Was not the best experience location was about the best thing killed about five baby roaches. Sheets look like something from American horror story dirty with stains in my hair. Room smelled of spices asked for another room was told by the owner to go back in my room and have my phone conversation. This was about 10 o’clock in the morning.

Hotel is nice, I wouldn’t mind staying again. The hotel from the street view looks like a roach motel but you can tell they renovated it, after you get drive inside it looks better. The room itself was nice and clean, some stuff looked like it needed some attention. The Parking is free but only limited spots so get their soon, other then that it’s good for a night or two.

The room was clean, ZERO bugs of any type, spacious, the linens were also clean. Although it is classed as a budget hotel, the A/C was awesome, a tv with so many channels, free wifi and a shower with amazing water pressure and no issues with hot water easily elevated it. The area is fine for a base camp from which to explore LA. There’s a Target one block away, Walgreens, - great for picking up snacks, liquids you couldn’t bring on your plane, toiletries etc is also a block. Food options include two taco trucks within a block, - try Leo’s opposite Target, 3 chicken & pineapple tacos for $7:50! Thai restaurants, fried chicken etc. IF you are using the transit system, there are excellent links to Hollywood, Santa Monica, Melrose, Fairfax, Echo Park and Silverlake. Mani and her family were so kind to us. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We checked out late and we were able to stash luggage, do our last minute shopping, return and use a room to change, repack and prepare for the trip home. The hotel was safe, zero issues with homeless or theft, - rooms and cars included. Yes, the walls are a little thin, but we heard more low flying helicopters than noisy guests. I highly recommend you check them out, LA hotel rooms are not cheap, but some are better value for your money than others, the Economy Inn is, imo, great value.

Staff is typical foreigner owners from India. Very difficult to understand. They lost my ID and blamed me for it, but eventually discovered there was a miscommunication between the husband and wife. I got my ID back but very rude process.

Conveniently located close to all. Parking available. If you’re going to be out and about, and want to save money, this is your spot.

The room was nice and clean. The parking was awful. Not enough room to back out and turn around.

A good hotel at a central location with Chinese Theatre 45 min walk away and a Target one block away. Quite a few eating places also available. Overall a good choice.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Didn’t Know The Area We Were Staying In. Areas Not The Best But We Were Fine With It For Just The 2 Nights. Got To The Room After Check In & It Could Definitely Be Cleaner! The Curtains Had Huge Dark Stains All Over, The Bathroom Was Dusty On The Vents & Shower Looked Gross! Had Mold Spots All Around The Top. Floors Felt Like there was Dirt / Crumbs All Over & The Closet Was Kind Of Dusty As Well. Definitely A Lesson Learned!

It was conveniently close to universal studios, parking isn't great, and there was hair in the pillows and in the bath tub.

Horrific. Large stains and pubic hairs one the bed. Black mold in the shower all over. Very unsafe neighborhood. Beds are a concrete slab. Large gaps in the front door. Just dirty and awful.

Picked this hotel for its close location to Hollywood and Universal Studios. Also 3 minutes walk to Target and Walgreens. Flight in didn't arrive until 10.30pm so was expecting a very late check-in. Contacted management prior and it wasn't a problem for them. They were helpful and polite throughout. Room size was good and having a fridge was handy. Shower pressure was great. Only minor issues were that the beds were quite soft, but this is personal preference, and there was no mirror in the bathroom. Parking does seem limited but I fortunately never had an issue finding a space during my 3 night stay.

A little bit overprice for the old property but they are clean, I love that they are near a lot of Thai restaurants and Thai street food, I love Thai food. Just have to be careful at night because they have a lot of homeless around this area

Ok for the price

Beds were surprisingly comfortable. Offered almost all you could ask for in a motel. Crown molding and a nice paint job interior. Good air handler system with constant fan option. Only missing another towel rack or two in bathroom and also no iron/ironing board in room. I'm sure they would provide one if you asked though

As was expected it's not perfect. It's fairly cramped, the furniture is a little beat up/dinged up but whatever. The digs were bare bones but it was cleaner than expected. Don't expect luxury linens, towels, etc but for the price (Hollywood prices) i'd recommend it. I saw no roaches/bugs as has been mentioned in other reviews I have, however, encountered them in much nicer and more expensive hotels so bugs happen sometimes. Not this trip however. The couple that runs it is very nice, we didn't require much but they seem like they would be accommodating if you needed something. Parking isn't great, it's an old area and that's how things were built in the past. What can they do? It's free, at least, and they don't charge like some other properties in the area. Overall I was very pleased with conditions for the price and would recommend it for those that can handle adventure or those on a budget.

It’s alright if you are a budget

The location is close to stores, restuarants, and metro bus stops. The room is big and restroom is decent. It would be nice if the room has a microwave and/or coffee maker.

It is, however, very close to consistent public transportation that will get you to and from all the nearby sights and tourist hot spots. But if you're looking to visit the beach or Dinseyland, I'd advise bringing your own vehicle: ride-sharing anywhere more than 2 or 3 miles is expensive. Overall, you could do worse (or better) than the Economy Inn, but you probably wouldn't be able to do it at the bargain price.

Hotel staff verty helpful, room clean - only drawback is the general decline of Los Angeles which is becoming unsafe for tourists.

The guy was nice when I checked in and out.

They have fridge but no microwave and the owners have very heavy accents they don't clean the room until you check out
