Dunes Inn Sunset

This place was very clean and well maintained, spotless in fact, but the only "amenities" are vending machines with drinks and ice. It is more of a very clean and nice motel, not a hotel or inn. Perfect if you want to stay in that area. The immediate neighborthood around the Dunes is not exciting, but there are good bars and restaurants not too far. The employees and operations manager are very nice, flexible and accommodating, and I would certainly stay there again with the above in mind.

The rooms are the perfect size and clean. Walking distance to restaurants, stores and the freeway. And the parking is the best part. Secure and spacious. Very quiet also. We loved our stay.

We had to check out late, all the staff were very accommodating and packed our belongings very professionally. Excellent team and very understanding. No extra charges were endorsed. Many thanks

The location was close to lots of attractions! Even though at times I didn’t feel the most safe, the property is well secured and looked after. Everything was clean and check in and check out was very easy. While the location was close to a lot of attractions, sometimes I didn’t feel safe just walking around the area. I also missed having some kind of coffee machine or microwave. There is a fridge though!

Convenient location for visiting Griffith observatory and Hollywood sight seeing. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Appreciated being able to walk Target to pick up a few items.

great location, it was central to most of my outings. the rooms were some what recently renovated. the front desk man was very friendly and accommodating to my early arrival beds were a little too firm for my liking. my phone corrupted the key card to get into the room, but the front desk staff took care of it immediately and told me about the work around of not keeping it in the same pocket as my phone

Good location and freindly staff. The bathroom had an accessible walk-in shower.. The cable TV was confusing to operate. News channel selection were politically one-sided. There was NO COFFEE offered or available anywhere on the premises. No coffeemaker or microwave in the room. There are two soda-machines near the office, yet no diet soda drinks .

Free parking, security on-site so felt safe, rooms were clean and staff were friendly. Fridge was a great size. Very noisy, you can hear everyone and cars when coming and going. Air conditioner was too loud to use.

Great location, with free parking included and security on site. The area has several restaurants and a Target nearby, which was very convenient. At night, you may see some homeless people around, but it did not affect my stay at all. The facilities are a bit old, but considering the price and everything else, it was totally worth it. I would definitely recommend it.

The double room is small but clean. The staff kindly brought us extra pillows when requested and refreshed our rooms daily. There’s no coffee or tea available in room and I never actually noticed the restaurant open, but there’s a Target with a Starbucks right across the street and we definitely appreciated the free parking on site. While the location is fairly central to a lot of attractions, the area isn’t really walkable, so having a car or taking an uber is highly recommended. There was a security guard at the street entrance the entire time. Overall I recommend Dunes Inn if you’re on a budget or plan to travel by car.

As a single traveler in sort of a sketchy area, I was really nervous about staying but I felt perfectly safe here, the gentleman who checked me in was very helpful and the room was clean.

If you want a coffee in the morning, you need to get up, get dressed, get in the car and drive 8 or 9 blocks to the McDonald's on Vine St. It's worth mentioning that the food & service at this McDonald's are pretty okay. There are ashtrays located outside several of the rooms. Loud people gather around them at all hours of the night. Because the rooms are poorly insulated against noise, this, along with every nearby siren and rorty exhaust, will keep you awake. There is takeout available within a couple of blocks, but my room didn't really have anywhere to sit and eat it. My windows had a close-up view of the apartments behind the motel, and vice versa, so I had to keep the shutters closed. The a/c is noisy. Overall a disappointment and I was glad to only stay one night before moving round the corner to the Hollywood City Inn, which is much nicer.

The location was very convenient to all our destinations. The beds were good and we slept well. My only issue was the hotel puts a $100 hold on your credit card for the length of your stay. Not that it was a huge issue, but it would have been nice to have some sort of warning from Booking.com.

The hotel was very nice and an exceptional value. I particularly appreciate the front desk worker Saturday who allowed us to check in at noon after we arrived from our cruise. He was kind to do so.

Great place to stay. 20 minutes driving from West Hollywood and 8-10 minutes driving from Walk of fame and beverly hills. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

The free parking, the fridge/freezer in the room, and the comfortable bed were great, but the room was not very cozy: bright white lights, no coffee machine. We could hear our neighbors talking and slamming doors for most of the night. More importantly, the bathroom wall had many hairs on the wall and a couple on the hand towels, which was not a pleasant surprise.

Stayed for 3 days, 2 nights and it was a pretty enjoyable experience. The rooms were a lot nicer than what I was originally expecting (since it is a motel), and the beds were very comfortable. Overall would definitely stay again.

The rooms were nice and clean but old this property is an old property. It’s kept clean, but you can only do so much with old the service. Staff was very nice, but there was a language barrier as I do not speak much Spanish and they do not speak much English, but we pointed a lot those security guard stationed outside. There was just enough parking. It seemed like the property was pretty full and so was the parking lot, but there was definitely a spot the surrounding Neighbourhood seems OK. I would not walk there at night but in the daytime it was fine as a 7-Eleven directly next-door and a Burger King and two or three other restaurants within a 23 minute walk the restaurant on the property was not opened for business thank you LA and the location was perfect for my event at the Greek theater. We stayed one night for a concert at the Palladium. We could walk to it so that was good. The room did not have microwave and that is my only complaint but really no big deal. The room was small but I knew it was not going to be the Ritz!!!!

It's a great motel to stay near Universal Studios and the Griffith Observatory. Walking distance from the Walk of Fame. Rooms are good, and if you have a car, you have free parking inside (very important in LA) and you're 20-40 min away from any other place you'd like to visit.

The property is very clean, there's a security man on premises, the gentleman who checked me in was very friendly and greeted with a smile. Its also very close to the Kaiser facility where I have an appointment. Its too bad the restaurant on site is closed for awhile. Thats really been convenient in the past when I've stayed here.

The inn was nice and private, and the room was in good condition. The walls were thin and outside noise was easily disruptive, and the surrounding area was just fine. Overall, good budget option.

We loved our stay at Dunes Inn, the front desk staff were very nice, there’s a security guy at the property and security cameras which made us feel safe. The room was clean and someone came and cleaned our room and got us new towels everyday. There’s a few bus stops and a metro station close to the motel which was great because we didn’t rent a car during our stay. There’s a Target close by which was very convenient.

Check in and out went smooth. Went for the Blink 182/Alkaline Trio show at the Palladium, so was about a 15 minute walk which was nice. Parking included was also a bonus even if it is first come first serve.

Good place to stay, be aware there is no coffee machine or microwave in the room. So no reheating leftovers. Otherwise a good place to stay for the night in the City of Angels.

The are is quite safe but is LA. You can find homeless every where on the street. But the hotel is very safe. Highly recommended

Stayed for one night with family. This hotel was great. No Complaints.

Great nostalgic motorlodge. The staff are great and friendly. Clean and cozy. If you're expecting Hilton accommodations, you won't find that here. There are no fancy coffee makers or safes in the room. Think "a place to sleep". This is great for the price. Good location and free parking. Give this place a chance.

The service surprised us in a good way. One usually expects something from a two stars hotel. However, this hotel was an excellent decision. Everything is close to the location. Walk of Fame, Universal, the Observatory. The hotel was very clean, the reception people were so kind and they solved every question we had. The room was enough for two people. For sure we will stay there when we return to Los Angeles.

This place was actually really nice. There was a whole lot of places to eat within walking distance as well as a whole lot of stores. I definitely felt more comfortable knowing there was a security guard posted throughout the day considering the location. I would definitely come back to this place, my only problem was that the beds were a little too firm than what I like.

DIS is an older visioned hotel. Area was walkable to Hollywood Blvd. Area loos sketchy but was not too bad. Staff was friendly. Microwave is located in staff area but accessible if needed. I would stay there again.

This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed here while we were going to one of the entertainment venues due to it being easily within walking distance to them. The property is very clean and has in site parking. Lots of food in the area too. Cable channels are lacking but we weren’t here for that.

Third time I stay at the Dunnes Inn and they never disappointed. It's well managed, very clean and well located.

It was a nice and convenient way to get to the freeways. The staff was friendly, we enjoyed are stay here. Will book again, Thanks Dune.

Clean and close to many dining options

The area is rough but the rooms for very clean. Just needed it for a night so it served its purpose. Parking is free which is a plus too. The lights outside are bright and come through the window but that’s the only complaint I have.

In order to help families during their trip, being able to provide baby bed would be a good thing

Great location

It was a great location! Super convenient for everywhere we needed to go. There is a 7 Eleven and Target close by, so we were able to pick up water, snacks and toiletries without spending a crazy amount of money. Lots of dining options within walking distance! The bed wasn’t super comfortable and the AC unit was tucked behind a wall. I’m a hot sleeper so I like to have cool air blowing right on me, but it still at least cooled the room down decently. Overall, it was great for the price and I would stay here again if I ever come back to LA.

The Hotel and the room was great, in great condition and everyone was very friendly! The only thing that was disappointing was that they list and show a lounge and restaurant but it was closed and has been since Covid from what we were told? The pics of the lounge and restaurant were a factor in my booking that hotel so they should take it off of their web listings!

Obviously older construction, but my room was very clean and well kept up. Room was basic, but all I needed was a safe area and clean bed.

The parking lot is spacious which helps with parking and unloading luggage. There’s also a security guard in the lot which gives you an added peace of mind. The room was decent. Nothing fancy but comfortable and clean. My kids and I went to universal studios which was in very close driving proximity to the hotel. The staff was kind and very helpful! Would stay again.

The property was awesome! Lots of food and shopping options in a walkable distance. The only downside is the parking fills up towards the night so if you go out and come back late, you might have to park on the street but besides that it's a great place to stay.

Check in was the best thing here. Let me check in early. He was friendly. Shower remodeled and water pressure was good. No coffee maker. Refrigerator was cold. Wall air conditioner worked ok. Worst things were old dirty carpet. Limited parking. And someone yelling and banging on the next door over at 5am.

The room didn't get as cool as I would have liked. There was a gap at the top of the door which may have contributed to the temp in the room. Room temp was still comfortable.

The staff was friendly. The nights were quiet and felt safe.

The restaurant advertised as part of the facilities was closed so could not get breakfast and with no cutlery, plates, cups or kettle this was limiting especially when leaving early for flights etc or arriving in time for dinner as could not do take out This was a Motel so expected this

A very clean motel with very accommodating and friendly staff. Ample parking.

Come to find out its been closed since Covid. Room was non smoking but smelled close to death and the heater barely worked. Other than that, the staff was friendly and I felt like my vehicle was safe because they had lot security.

Raking area. Felt safe. Good dining options very close. Very walkable. Rooms have a refrigerator but no microwave or coffee maker. Need my coffee in the morning but there is a convenience store right next door. Enjoyed our stay.

Initially I was uneasy with the location but there weren’t bad comments re homeless in immediate area so I decided to book for a trip to Hollywood Bowl. Was not disappointed! Security guard in parking lot was reassuring. No problems encountered at facility! Would stay again especially for $$ and peace of mind.

Liked how there was security at the front entrance. How close it is to everything. Staff was amazing! Would be great if the cafe and bar was up and running!

We stayed 3 nights and found it to be a clean and safe property, and the value was unbeatable. The neighborhood itself is mixed with a home depot across the street and several homeless camps, but security is present and we felt safe at night. Pretty quiet too. Rooms are fairly small but fully stocked with amenities such as fridge, microwave, hair dryer etc. I would definitely not think twice about staying again.

Hotel staff was courteous. Carpet floor is sticky. No microwave. Maybe you get what you paid for. Overall stay was ok.
