It’s basic. Parking is good. Staff is nice. Location in convenient.

I don’t mind paying extra fees, but hotels should be transparent about them upfront. Because of this lack of transparency, I would not recommend this hotel.
- 3/5
Decent hotel. The parking situation was maybe the worst part about the stay. There’s limited space at the above ground lot and it’s a very tight area. There is underground parking available but I’d often have to go inside and let someone know that we were trying to get in so they can open the gate. I would suggest they implement some way where they are alerted that someone is attempting to enter through the gate. To add to that, we had a moment one night where we wanted to enter the underground lot but the receptionist was out for lunch so we had to drive around and wait until someone returned. Besides these issues it wasn’t a bad stay. The room was clean and we had what we needed. The shower was also a little weird but over all manageable. I’d recommend it for anyone on a budget.

The hotel has a real nice vibe to it. Parking on site can be a bit challenging. Hotel is a bit outdated but good overall.

Room was dirty when we checked in. Old to-go food container and alcohol left in fridge, hair left in bathroom sink, no counters were wiped down. As if linens were changed out and that’s it. Friend and I were only there for one day so we didn’t want to argue with anyone over it n just took it as a loss. Upon check in you get offered discounted parking for leaving a review, so I’m convinced we were bamboozled by fake reviews because we had high hopes based on reviews and were extremely disappointed.

The pictures online really get you. The rooms were very small, and there not much around the area. It’s old and run down. The staff was nice. Overall, it was just ok.

I love this hotel. It’s boutique. It’s all art deco ! It’s clean. Friendly staff and great places to eat close by. Very walkable. Front desk staff Rodrigo , Mason, Desiree. All very helpful and polite.

Room wasn’t clean even though it was made up. My kids feet were black after walking on the carpet barefoot. They must not clean the carpet, ever. Dust bunnies found under the bed after trying to get my kids toys back. My husband’s allergies were so bad staying inside. Parking is a joke. There are six tandem spots right outside the lobby. If someone is parked there already you either Austin powers it and park or get out of your car to run into the lobby and ask the front desk to open the underground garage gate at the back of the hotel.

I paid for parking w/ the reservation. Unfortunately, while there, damage occurred to the rear window wiper. While I understand the property isn't responsible for damage, the on duty employee promised me that the management would call me and refund my parking fees, sadly neither has happened. I'm disappointed they didn't step up and fix this, as this was a great property & otherwise I'd stay there again. Maybe not at this point.

Hair in tub and all over the bathroom, room was not ready at 3
- 3/5
Photos of the property accurately depict decor but the hotel is dingy, the courtyard looks terrible and is very unappealing. So glad I at least had a room with exterior window (even if it was just the alley) because the rooms with interior windows have less privacy.

Very clean, unique hotel. Definitely had history charm to it. We loved the comfort and it was quiet. We had children and it was kid friendly. We felt there was nothing that could have been better. everything met our expectations.

Room and bathroom were very clean. The property itself just needs some updating, finishes were not of a high quality. Overall though we felt very safe in the neighborhood and our room was very quiet.

Rodrigo and Mason at the front desk always help make things a breeze. Both with checking in and checking out.

The internet does not work. They never fixed it when I addressed it with the front desk. Pictures are deceptive. Very outdated property and worn in remodel. They try to charge you an early check-in fee to get your room an hour early when it’s already clean and ready. They made me wait an hour for no reason because I opted not to pay. Very poor customer service. Missed an online meeting because I didn’t have internet the entire stay. No follow up after messaging the hotel and notifying hotels.com. This place is a bait and switch scam operation. I recommend finding another place to stay.

The hotel itself has character. Our first room had no AC but the staff was happy to change us to another room with working AC. The bed and bathroom were clean, but there was substantial mold and dirt in the corners and crevices of every furniture piece in the room. The staff was very kind, and you can’t beat the location. However, that was about the best I could say.

Barbara, the Hotels General Manager was the only good thing about our stay. She did everything she could to help us make the best of our stay. The hotel is old and is in desperate need of updates in many areas, as things simply don’t work. Before you unpack, check to make sure that the Internet works, as it did not work in any of the rooms we tried and never worked throughout our two night stay. Also make sure that the Air Conditioning works, as we had to switch rooms twice, because it did not work. We switched rooms a total of twice before landing in room number three. It was a hot weekend, so in light of the fact, we had no internet, we kept room number three, as the A/C was good. On Sunday, the day of the race, I met my spouse at the race and we returned to the hotel for him to shower. At 1:30 p.m., there was no hot water, so he showered with luke warm water. We would have packed up and found a hotel on day one, but we were there for the Los Angeles Marathon and needed accommodations close to the finish line. Many hotels were running at or near capacity and the rates were extremely high as we arrived two days prior to the event. This was one of the worst properties that I have ever stayed in. As previously stated, make sure that things work to your satisfaction before unpacking your belongings.

After a long flight from Australia, arriving 7am, I wasn’t able to check in until 3pm which was hard. My room smelled as if someone had been sleeping in it for a week; it wasn’t aired out. Room service is only on request, wish was surprising. The overall property cleanliness standard was below average, with stains on the outdoor furniture, a broken bed frame and excessive dust. The fitness center was big enough to stand in it only, with a few missing weights and very limited facilities - this was a disappointment. Overall, I would stay there again for the location and the basic amenities.

The room was a little banged up but generally clean. The big downsides were having very limited channels on the TV, really the worst selection I've ever seen in a hotel, and the lousy water pressure in the shower. The shower also didn't get very hot thanks to a broken handle. It's still better than other places in the area but I would probably opt to stay at a hotel in the Valley instead.

The wi-fi login page wouldn't load for us the first day after countless retries. Reception said to keep trying, so they weren't much help. On the second day I was able to connect once, but the wi-fi speed was abysmal at < 10 mbps which made it useless. Also this hotel is clearly a converted apartment from the 70s that has received the landlord's paint special over the years; it's overdue for a renovation. They should start with sound insulation by replacing the windows and doors because it sounds like they're not even there.

the location was central. It is next to a club/bar which operates over weekend nights, so expect some noise. Ear plugs are provided which was nice. There are only two windows (in one of the bedrooms) that look outside. The other bedroom had windows that looked to a very small alcove of the building. There was not a lot of fresh air available with the windows cracked.

Great location!!! Close to Beverly Hills, close to major museums, close to great & diverse restaurants. Check-in was awkward. Clerk announced - 45 min after check-in time the room was not ready. Not what you want to hear. Then he said it was probably ready and would I mind going to the room to check which I did - a first for me. The room was ready and it was a nice room with an extremely comfortable bed, plenty of towels - a big plus - and really nice bodycare products. I felt well taken care of by this property!

Only the location was good. Room very small, very noise A/C and the next door bath. Total outdated. Do small room you do not even have space to open a luggage. Both beds stuck on the wall, very not confortable situation. Did not feel secure, due to the front door close to the elevator with no security. Anyone could jump on the elevator and move around the hallways. No breakfast. This hotel has nothing good except the location.

List of items for improvement: coffee machine in my room was not working but I was able to fix it; rug needed a deep cleaning; decor is a little strange but was not a deal breaker; the main elevator was dirty, had an odor, stains on the floor and ripped wall fabric (you can do better, Carlyle); overall the front entry way had a run down look (just needs deep cleaning and fresh paint). The online photos show a much newer and well cared for appearance of the facility. Perhaps it would benefit from a rethinking of the decor.

The pictures shown online are very misleading. This property looks and feels more like an motel than a hotel or Inn. The rooms and grounds are a bit run-down, with visible wear and neglect. In reality, it is closer to a three-star property, if not lower. The surrounding area also did not feel particularly safe, which made the stay even less comfortable.

My search for a fairly priced room in LA that’s nice where one can actually sleep continues. This isn’t it. Only positive is the free parking however the multiple signs reading “Not responsible for loss or damage to vehicles” made me wonder how safe the parking garage is. Guess I’ll find out shortly.

I prefer a local boutique neighborhood hotel to a chain, and The Carlyle Inn delivers that experience. The Robertson-Pico neighborhood is a lively area of LA bordering on Beverly Hills. A well-maintained property overall, the room was spotlessly clean, and the king bed very comfortable. The front desk is staffed 24 hours a day. I received free self-parking as a VIP bonus. Tip: use the bath mat when showering; the tub was very slippery.

Cute boutique like hotel with a younger people vibe. Clean and quiet in the evenings. Needs new elevator… it is old and bounces around a lot in fact I was stuck in it the day I was checking out. They opened it fairly quick and waived the extra fees they normally tack on at checkout. Please note then when entering their garage which is gated and they open for you that your car is not near the gate as it opens outward bottom up and your car can be damaged. I would stay here again.

The pictures are deceiving. The location of this hotel is not ideal for walking or being close to the downtown area. When we checked in, the gentleman at the front desk was friendly and respectful. However, during check-out, the woman at the front desk didn’t seem to be a morning person and appeared uninterested. Parking is very limited, and the hotel charges $30 for it. The inn is definitely old — while there’s been an attempt to modernize, it still feels outdated.

The property was very basic. It’s clean, but the bed was not so comfortable and the street noise was loud. However you get what you pay for, the value was high for the price and the location which was walkable to Beverly Hill. The hotel Staff were extremely friendly. The Expedia VIP free parking perk was awesome

On our experience on the stay, don't expect them to remember to provide a wake up call.

The property was much older than pictured, and the room was not well maintained. Both the shower curtain and the curtains in our room were ripped and hanging and our room had tons of ants. On the positive side, the beds were fairly comfortable.

Nice staff, safe location. However, the room (at least our room) had one of those shared doors. You could hear every word the neighbour was saying and they were not yelling. You could also smell what they were eating or doing.

Ah let's see. No maid service. TV channels sucked. Bathroom toilet on the floor. Out early and returned late afternoon. Very quiet guest. In return for all this I was tossed out for no reason or explanation. Pass. No one stay at Carlyle Inn. Needs upgrading and is creepy.

Bed was very squeaky, hot water for shower lacking and slow to turn on

Front desk staff friendly and helpful. The inn clean and pleasant. Fun art deco vibe. Beds and pillow very comfortable and great bathroom and shower. Had to pay for parking, but plenty of spaces available when we were there in early March. Great location about a block off West Pico near many kosher restaurants and markets.

I had Incredible time. Great room. Clean. Friendly staff

It's better than it looks. But LA isn't what it used to be.

Such an adorable place! I really appreciate the staff, the cleanliness of the facility. I definitely would recommend the stay here. :)

The staff was super helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome

My stay was great. East check in. Friendly staff. My only gripe would be i was Accidentally charged the $50 deposit fee twice. I now have to wait for $100 to fall off my account in 3-7 business days.
- 4/5
I've stayed here a few times and it's always perfect for just getting a nights rest. They were closed for awhile doing updates but I didn't see much change. I'd stay here again, however our room, 102, had the most annoying fan of all time and made it very hard to sleep. The bathrooms needs some major updating but the rooms are comfortable.
- 2/5
The hotel did not match the photos shown on Hotel, worn down and cheap finishes. I chose the horel partly because they had a fitness room; it was a very small space, more like a fitness closet.
- 5/5
Very comfortable and convenient hotel located right near Hollywood Night life!
- 3/5
Looks like a cool trendy hotel. The disabled elevator at the front can't be operated by from the inside. It's a tiny titel with a tiny pool and they want a $22 resort fee and a $50 Security deposit in addition to the hotels.com price which is supposed to be all inclusive. Then they want $30 to park in a totally open and unlocked garage! Bed pillow smelled like dirty, greasy hair!!

This is a small boutique hotel art deco style. It is so Hollywood! It’s beautiful and delightfully quirky. The staff is phenomenal. The location is central to everything in Beverly Hills and Hollywood. Great restaurants and shopping within walking distance. It is a terrific value. I stayed a week and I am so happy. Special thanks to Barbara, Chris, Mason, and Veronica, for making my stay so comfortable. My recommendation for your hotel is unequivocal.

Quick and easy check in. Lovely room
- 5/5
I didn’t like it much, for the price it was too dark, no lights kind of like a motel 6. Service was great , it was clean and location was great but o was expecting more

Check in was late because of a system failure

I discovered the first morning after sleeping in the bed that it had dirty sheets.

Staff, especially Mason, at the front desk were extremely helpful and accommodating. We have stayed here a few times and have always enjoyed the comfortable beds, the happy hour and the walkable neighborhood.
- 1/5
This hotel definitely needs a major facelift. Our room was musty, the open courtyard for eating or lounging was right outside our door, thereby. quite noisy, especially in the early AM. We will not stay there again, we stayed there a few yrs back, thought we'd give it another shot, but nothing has changed, at all!! Staff is exceptionally friendly, but other than that, it's so long for us.

She said the air conditioner was broken and we did not accept it.

My stay here at Carlyle was amazing. The staff was so friendly with me and so helpful. It’s centrally located in Beverly Hills. All the shops and restaurants are very near by. This was a wonderful stay away from home. I live In BeverlyWood. This was a fun night away from home with my lovey. Will be back soon !

Ok place to stay
- 3/5
Cleanliness is fine. No horror stories like some other places you read about. Staff was great. I dont like the parking set up. Sometimes you can get trapped in or you can trap a person in if you park in or across the 9th parking spot. The 9th stall should be eliminated or at least paint the parking lines further back to allow the 8th car to drive fwd to get out. But there is an underground parking. Be aware to pay $30 for parking per day. Its in the fine print. The shower wasnt enclosed, as in, it didnt have a tub nor a divider between the shower and toilet area. It was designed for handicapped person to be able to get in shower without having to lift a leg or maybe roll in, but the doorway into the bathroom is standard. So when we showered, half the bathroom floor, past the toilet, was all wet. You will need extra towels or you will slip.
- 4/5
Nice place if you are staying within a couple miles of the area. Would stay again.

Best bed I have ever slept on!!! Convenient location.

The suite was clean and spaciouse

Under construction.
- 5/5
This hotel is excellent if you want a comfortable bed and a place to base yourself. No frills. The construction was happening in the courtyard but we didn’t hear anything. They gave us comp free drink for happy hour. Coffee bar in the lobby is nice. Staff friendly. Recommend for a good night sleep after a day filled with activity.

Kind of old room carpet dirty lights don't work or sink
- 3/5
Just ok
- 2/5
The bed was comfortable and the staff pleasant enough, if not totally competent. For instance, upon checking in, they inform you that you will be charged $22-$25 a day for house-keeping and services, but you have to specifically request house-keeping. I asked that I get house-keeping throughout my 3-day stay; that request never made it to the next day, and there was no one else checking in when I did who might have confused the attendant. And they offer Happy Hour and a voucher for a free drink; when I went, there was no bar, no bartender and no quests. I returned my voucher. The 3 star rating that they have is generous and there pricing more than fully reflects their LA/Beverly Hills zip code. My advice if you are thinking of staying there, especially while they are under construction...don't.
- 3/5
The hotel along with the room needs a refresh. Very dated and not worth the price.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, clean, quiet and comfortable. What more can you ask for?
- 4/5
My only complaint is the sneaky last minute fees they tack on, there is no need for a $22 cocktail hour especially for people who don’t want to drink but still have to pay that fee.
- 4/5
Very nice hotel, small very quiet and excellent location close to Beverly Hills... ;)
- 5/5
with a last minute cancellation as well as helped when we left showing in the room! Thanks, Roger!

He was very respectful and helpful, truly made my stay worthwhile ! Would definitely come back !
- 3/5
It's just average.
- 4/5
Good value for the area. Walking toward Beverly Hills takes you to nice clean areas, but walking southwest, the commercial areas become dirty, with some sketchy characters around. Hotel itself was clean and comfortable, staff were good, and once the renovations are finished, their courtyard would be a decent place to enjoy their happy hour.
- 5/5
Ive stayed at Carlyle a number of times. The rooms are clean, well appointed, and well taken care of. Parking rate is a bit steep, but it is LA. Location is good, plenty of places to eat iin the surrounding area.
- 2/5
The room was not properly cleaned. It was very dusty behind the nightstand and underneath the bed ( I was looking for an outlet for my charger). There was a plastyshipping bag under the bed as well. The room was a double bed room and was very tight. Also, we left behind a bag with a thermos and snacks and when we called the hotel to ask if house keeping had found it they said nothing was turned in. I politely asked if they can check the TV stand where I put it at and they replied that they couldn't because it was occupied. I'm sure the room was not properly cleaned after our stay if no one found it.

The front desk on April 6 and 7 (two different people) were both just as apathetic and lacking customer service. I asked for a receipt and I didn't get one, they didn't have water ON THE PROPERTY for me to purchase, their front desk phone doesn't work and their email bounces as "incorrect". I asked for 2 bathrobes that were delivered OPEN and in hand. Disgusting. The website did not mention any repairs being done on the property - their whole lounge/ garden area was closed and there was no care for appearance. Pooe wifi signal. When we checked out, the clerk was not there, but he had left a woman who did not speak English at the front desk. It was a waste of money. No breakfast included (we knew that, but they weren't offering any for purchase either), the room smelled stale, the carpet in our room was so dirty, and the pillows were lumpy.
