The Cove Hotel, Long Beach

My son is in Long Beach Memorial and The Cove is within walking distance. A wonderful convenience.

Great poolside room, food in the bar was awesome!

Brian and Veronica are awesome. Definitely a great place to stay.

Everything was good except parking was a bit tight and not enough for the people staying, we even had to pay $15 parking fee and didnt have a spot to park.

Staff were very helpful, friendly and we definitely liked the bartender. She was very friendly and outgoing. The cleanliness of room was about an 8 out of 10 being the best. Could have been a little better. Overall the stay was very good.

Previously lived in Long Beach. This hotel exceeded my expectations: the property was spacious, although parking was a bit difficult near my room. Entrance was very open with friendly staff. The rooms were spacious, with clean lines, no carpets or excessive textiles, and a very modern bathroom. However, outside the property, the neighborhood is sketchy.

Our room was large and comfortable. We very much enjoyed the pool, which was warm but not hot. Food from the small bar cafe was good.

This was a surprisingly pleasant stay - exceeded my expectations! My room was very quiet, clean, comfortable. I slept great. The location is very convenient to where I needed to be. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the price was a good value.

Feels like at home

My home away from home in Long Beach. I’ve been staying at The Cove very regularly for almost a year now. The folks who work here are like friends and family to me. Always diligent and friendly. The bar and lounge area is open, warm, and welcoming and food is surprisingly good and there are a number of other restaurants nearby as well as a grocery store within walking distance. Highly recommended. I especially enjoy the rubber ducks in the shower. They add a playful touch to the spatious rooms.

The check in was quick and easy. The room was clean and there was a rubber ducky in the shower! My girls loved this so much! We left in a rush bc we needed to get to an appointment that morning and my daughter had left her air pods. The front desk called me to let me know that house keeping had found it!!! My girls and I were blown away by this and are SO grateful for the integrity of the staff there!!! Thank you so much! We will definitely be back! We arrived around 1145pm and the parking was sparse, but we got a spot.

Receptionist was helpful. We had a very large room which was quiet and with blackout shades, remained dark in the morning Breakfast, which you pay for, provided very limited choices

The rooms were very nice and spacious, the property itself was well maintained. The pool area was nice No free breakfast or at least more options for purchase. The lounge chairs at the pool were slightly dirty

Onsite bar was really nice. Drinks were very good and breakfast was 10/10 Dinner could improve

Great area to stay in. Easy parking at the Hotel. The rooms felt very clean and large. It had a very California Vibe which felt great as a visitor. Easy access to get down to the cruise port. Definitely would stay here again.

I found 2 spiders crawling in the bathroom it was scary. Who do I report this to I paid 300$ for one night this is ridiculous

We love this property. The pool was conveniently located. I love that they had games like connect four and chess by the pool. They had a little bar that was open in the morning and evenings with food and drink. Lots of cozy places to sit around the pool. Some of the furniture was a little rundown, but they kept it really clean. The bed was OK. It could’ve been a little better but all in all we really enjoyed this property and will be back.

Not worth what they charge for the area around the property many homeless. We were told over the phone we could leave our car at the property while we went on our cruise that it was thirteen dollars a night only to be told on arrival we don't offer this option anymore. We won't be returning to this location again.

we've stayed at this place several times. Always nice! Wish included some type of breakfast.

The pillows were flat and uncomfortable. The water in the bathroom sink came out in what can only be called a trickle. The pool was lovely.

Nice, clean, efficient

The door in our room didn’t lock properly we had to lift it to force to lock it. Also the outside smelled of mirijuana everywhere. The room itself could’ve been cleaner but what was really bad was the a/c in the room, it was so loud it keep me awake all night. But if we turned it off it would get so hot and really stuffy in the room. Some of the property did look a little run down.

Thin walls, my room was by the entry exit door and i heard ir all night long. The staff is great, its fine for a 1 night place to crash but dont vacation here.

I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful (shout out to Jackie) and the property was clean and well maintained. The location was convenient; I could get food, coffee, and there's a CVS just across the street. Most of all, I felt safe.

The staff was very friendly! Loved the outdoor activities by the pool and it was so close to so many things! We got on a cruise from here and it was very close to the port as well! My one and only complaint is that although the room was clean and everything, it smelled weird and it was super hot when we got in there! Other than that great experience!

Room floor was not clean. Walking on tiled/un-carpeted floors, feet picked up dirt! Very bad.

The lady working the breakfast area and bar was great.

Was there for the race weekend so I expected it to be busy with loud neighbors. However was pleasantly surprised when I couldn’t hear either neighbor. Room was updated with dual shower heads and comfortable beds. One draw back was the low AC setting pushed ambient air in and room gets warm quickly. Housekeeping turned it off completely so I returned to stifling 82 room. Overall was very happy and will return next year.

Friendly staff and clean hotel and rooms

This was once a grand hotel, but it is showing its age, and local neighborhood is on the decline. Staff are all wonderful, friendly and helpful. Rooms and very spacious, beds are comfortable and the wifi is very good. Once inside the hotel boundary, you feel safe and secure. Would stay there again.

We booked while attending a wedding. I liked that they didn’t overcharge for parking. Every single employee treated us like honored guests. We loved this place. If we come back to LA, we’ll stay here again.

Okay room, but unfortunately it had a strong smell of mildew. The hotel itself appeared less fancy than the photos, but also had less up charges than other properties in the area. For example self parking was $13 for overnight guests compared to many larger hotels charging a mandatory $70+ valet parking plus mysterious “destination” fee. Breakfast was also convenient and inexpensive, nothing over $12. The lady working at the breakfast counter was very efficient, friendly and kind.

The outside areas are relaxing and pretty. The rooms are clean and loved the shower!

Amazing staff, rooms were clean, and the bed was amazingly comfortable. I slept so good at night. Many food options surrounding the hotel as well as transportation such as the Metro blue line to LA or Downtown Long Beach. Great location, great hotel. Definitely recommend.

The hotel was really charming. It wasn't a giant resort or chain. It felt like a vacation and was so comfortable. The room and all common areas were clean. The pool area was great and there were tons of seating and gathering places including a fire pit, some cabanas, and just some family type gathering spaces.The staff was so friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this great little place to anyone.

Within minutes of arriving, we felt uncomfortable enough that we immediately canceled our booking and left. It was honestly one of the most misleading hotel experiences we’ve had. If you’re considering staying here based on the pictures online, be aware that the real situation may not match what’s advertised. Our advice: Stay home and Stay safe.

Yes very friendly environment, fun things to do outside however there is no breakfast included which was inconvenient since our cruise was delayed. However that being said plenty of restaurants around just kinda sucked not having breakfast and what they do offer and you have to pay extra for which isn’t really worth it. Also there were no towels in our room had to get em from front desk not a crazy big deal but I expected towels LOL!

The property was everything I had expected and hoped for; very clean, nice, great staff. Made for a great base of operations for my conference in Long Beach as it's right off the metro and just a few stops from the convention center.

I really, really want to give this place five stars. The location was perfect for me. The hotel is modern, fresh and clean. The room I had was enormous and I love that there is no carpet! My room was very, very quiet. And I can't even say enough about how gracious every single member of the staff is that I encountered. Friendly, efficient and going above and beyond to meet every need. This is truly a gem. But the very one drawback is huge... the bed was absolutely horrible. I tossed and turned the two nights I was there and did not sleep well at all. I was in town for a wedding and I had to leave it early because my back was in so much pain. I woke up both mornings with a wrenched back because of the bed. This is not atypical of many hotels. The art is on the walls, the meeting room is set up nicely, the staff is paid a decent wage, but then they get cheap when it comes to bedding. I think it's fair to say that for most of us, the primary thing we'll be doing during any hotel stay is sleeping and bedding should be the first priority. I really hope that they will do something about this because other than the mattresses, the place is truly wonderful. Unfortunately, if they don't switch out the mattresses, I wouldn't be able to stay there again.

The hotel was not bad but the service at the bar was terrible. We got two complementary drinks and when I went to get my drink the lady at the bar gave me a look and told me to wait because she was having a important conversation with a customer then with a bad attitude ask me what do you want then she put a menu at the bar and then again with a bad attitude serve me and my boyfriend a drink. I don’t know why she was acting like that to us. I went and ask to talk to a manager a nice lady at the reception gave us a complementary voucher for breakfast and said she would talk with her. The lady at the bar kept looking at us and laughing at us that was so disrespectful and again I don’t know why she acted like that towards us.

The hotel itself was fine. The staff and furnishings were nice enough. But the location, its proximity to either a fire or EMS station, and the location of our room 229 above the hotel bar when staff was cleaning and closing up made for a very sleep deprived night. So much so that we left after one night, even though we paid for two. We needed a decent nights sleep. If you choose the hotel be sure to bring high quality earplugs, at least.

Loved almost everything about this hotel! The only problem was the woman that was bartending the first night we arrived. She was very rude. The worst attitude I've seen in a long time. She might have had something personal going on in her life, but regardless, that should never be taken out on the guests. All other staff were wonderful and I will definitely book here again.

The hotel was decent and nice looking from the online photos and in the main lobby. Front end staff is friendly. The room is huge “BUTTTT” being on the first floor you can literally hear everyone upstairs walking around and talking all throughout the night until the early morning. The parking lot is rough, lots of activity at night. Overall it was just ok.

Hotel was great! Check in was easy and fast. The room was immaculate. The bed was comfy and the pillows were perfect. The grounds were great- it felt like a little oasis in the middle of a city. Parking was a little crowded, but isn't it always? This will definitely be my go-to place to stay next time I am in Long Beach.

The hotel is very nice. The room was clean. We paid for early check in hoping to get a nicer room but was given a room right next to the parking lot, which was super noisy any time a car pulled in or left. The staff were all very friendly. The surrounding area had a lot of stores and restaurants, but didn't feel like we were in the safest area.

All the staff we interacted with were fabulous. Front desk was very professional and well dressed. Bar/Cafe staff member Fran was wonderful. We were visiting family, had no idea what to expect after growing up here and remembering it as an “old” motel. It’s renovated and really nice. Like they still kept some of the old staff employed even after new ownership and remodel. Seems they are working to turn this into a higher quality and higher end hotel for the neighborhood. Like it!

Nice and clean room area nice the only issue will be the parking if you’re paying you should have a spot available for you if you’re paying parking, but there was one night where we couldn’t find parking although we were paying for the parking so that’s the only thing I will change

Easy to check in and was able to check in hours earlier than 3pm. We were able to get a room on the outside of the hotel with a private staircase to the parking area. The pool was clean and they offered clean towels in the pool area. Staff were accommodating and polite. The breakfast and any food or drinks was not complementary you did have to pay for it. However if you did not want to the hotel is close to a lot of restaurants. Room service was only upon request which I enjoyed personally. Beds were a bit hard and same with the pillows. Overall great stay would book again.

This is a clean room, mine was ADA compliant, so a giant wheel in shower with a bench. The provided robe was a bit rough, scratchy, and the room is not completely soundproof, however upstairs I was likely more annoying to others than they were to me. I had one minor issue with my Keruig and the staff replaced it quickly. I did not try the breakfast, as I had a breakfast date. I did enjoy the coffee offerings and creamers, far better than many places I've stayed. I wish id arrived early enough to use the pool and spa, they looked inviting! However my delayed flight caused me to arrive after they closed up. 🙃 Over-all 4.5 and I would stay again, looking for a lower price point* without breakfast.

The Cove is a great hotel. The staff is friendly and they are really efficient. The room was clean and spacious and the ac worked great. The Cove is also close to a lot of fun things to do. Definitely recommend.

Staff was very friendly, the pool was not crowded, the rooms were spacious. They were having plumbing problems while we were there, which was beyond their control and they did their best to make us happy. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The neighborhood is full of fast food places, so we had to drive over to 2nd street for a nice dinner.

Overall, the hotel was decent. But the most important aspect of al hotel for myself is the bed as the sleeping portion is a big reason for staying in the hotel. Unfortunately, for the price, the bed and pillows were not appropriate.

Fortunately they gave me my money back.

This is the best little hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It had a wow factor to it. Super clean and comfortable rooms completely updated. Food and bar. Beautiful pool and games,

Parking could be better

The room was great and decent until I went to use the restroom at night and a huge cockroach was on the sink. Huge! I did not use it. Left the light on and went to lay down. The next no morning, my partner didn’t see it and I used the restroom as normal. But as we were packing up, a huge cockroach on the side of the bed area! He took pictures. It was disgusting. I alerted the staff on the way out and they refunded the parking. I would’ve liked some additional discount for this. Not using the restroom all night, thinking about this. Otherwise, staff was nice and friendly. Bartender was great.

Amazing stay for the price! The hotel is super cute, trendy, convenient. Rooms were nice! We stayed here for our cruise out of Long Beach. It’s about a 20-25 mins drive. They have parking available for your stay if you want to leave your car there. I was really impressed with this hotel especially for the price.

This place is a hidden gem. Great staff, clean rooms, and good facilities.

Room was clean only had 2 issues. No parking and the bed was so worn out and squeaky I was annoyed the whole night any lil moment the bed felt like it was going to fall apart

The property is well maintained, the staff are helpful and friendly. The surrounding area was not safe to walk-for example to go across the street to get something at the store was not safe for a single person.

Had a great time with my family

The hotel porperty itself is very nice once ypu get inside the gates. But the outside of the hotel and the surrounding area is extremely sketchy. Not safe at night or to be ng around by yourself. The hotel lobby and grounds are well kept and the pool area is beautiful. The room is was not too bad, nothing special but decent.

We were given a voucher for free breakfast so we did end up using that as an apology for the inconvenience. But, I feel cleaning a shower is pretty basic and water stains/hair should be an easy removal. Other than that, the sheets were absolutely comfortable. The bar was great, the food was OK/average. We did not partake with the pool or games, but sat by fire pit at night.

The hotel is not new but well maintained. Some upgrades like water-heater for tea and a newer AC units would be a great addition.

Clean and comfortable. Walking distance to shops. Short drive to cruise port.

Excellent service clean property

The room was a bit run-down--dirt marks on the walls, especially in the bathroom. Random hairs found in the shower. All private entrances and a cute pool area.

Definitely for those who like a retro vibe. The rooms are large....but the bathroom is the kicker. It's so big that you could fit the bed in there! Staff was very friendly and helpful, pool area was clean and kept up. Its on a very busy street with strip malls all around and a family neighborhood behind. Only complaint was that I had an additional charge on credit card that I didn't recognize. When I called to ask, it was $13 for parking. Don't remember being told or authorizing that, but okay.

Amazing hotel!

The grounds are beautiful, the pool was very nice, we really enjoyed the outdoor seating areas. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Everything was impeccably clean and well maintained and the staff were very friendly and courteous. We will definitely stay here again if we are in town.

Very clean for the most part and staff was extremely kind. My biggest irk was a few stray hairs around the room, but otherwise sheets and towels smelled fresh. Pool area was more than lovely with ample seating and umbrellas. Bar area is super cute as is the lobby.

Great place

I love everything about the hotel from staff to the room the only room I like to stay when I’m visiting in Long Beach

My room was okay. My door didn’t close all the way so I had to double check the door to make sure it was closed every time I left my room or entered. I also didn’t like that my room was so close to an exit door, however, the exit door nobody’s allowed to come in. Another thing is that I did not like the part that I had to come through the main door every time. Most hotels when you have a key, you can enter the exit doors, but that was not the case with this hotel. However, I do understand for safety reasons and I appreciate that.

This was one of the best hotels we have stayed at in LA & my family & I go around 6 times a year! It was quiet, clean & felt like you were in a hotel in Napa! Will stay here again & the staff is very warming & welcoming

Good location to stores/fast food restaurants/Downtown and beach. Didn't like that they have an ice machine that we could access ice easily and the room smelled the whole time we were there.

Staff was extremely friendly and the room was very clean. Parking was a little tough and the spaces were smaller. The surrounding neighborhood isn’t the greatest, but inside the hotel it is very nice. Also the A/C left a small amount of water when it was on over time.

Would NOT stay here again. The ONLY good service I received was from the woman tending bar in the evening. Front desk was missing or curt. If you need to smoke you’re going to end up in a grimey, unsafe corner on the outer edge of the hotel where they’ve carelessly thrown some rickety old benches. Also paying $13 for parking in a lot that was like 30% full is just a ridiculous cash grab. Also you’re far ($20+ Lyft ride) from anything fun on LB.

The rooms are really spacious. The beds are comfy. Loved the ducks in the bathroom and the shower head was really nice. The staff is super friendly. There is a CVS right across the streets. Plenty of restaurants close by too. Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice place to stay in Long Beach

The only negative was the extreme smell of chlorine or bleach every time we entered our room. It almost made my eyes tear. I’m not sure where it was coming from but it bothered me some.

I loved every part of my stay at the Cove from beginning to end. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The facilities were very pleasing and comfortable. I definitely would stay here again and refer this Hotel to my friends.

This is our second stay at The Cove. Very friendly service on top of a quiet and clean hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. We plan a yearly trip to Long Beach and will always stay at The Cove

Beautiful place to stay!

Hotel was conveniently located, the two ladies in the front checking people in were extremely friendly. I probably would Uber anywhere I need to go instead of walking around. Pool area was nice. The room was big and very clean.

The staff was so nice and accommodating. We stayed in a double queen suite. Very nice and clean. The pool is very nice, cabanas and lounge chairs available. The outside commons area was really great. Huge chess board, connect 4 and a nice fire pit. I would definitely stay here again.
