The room was clean. Not a great area. It smells like California or Colorado in the surrounding area. A lot of homeless people on the streets nearby. Our room was on the street and was surprisingly quieter than expected. It was fine for our use, we got there at 9 at night and left at 7 in the morning. It is not far from CSULB. The bathtub/shower combination was small and there are no handrails if you have mobility issues. Water was hot. Also, there were no hangers if you were hanging your clothes. The a/c unit was louder than expected. The mattress was firm in the middle and very soft on the edges.

Multiple choices of food and vending machines Other hotels I’ve stayed at in the same category had very limited choices or no any machines at all A very friendly staff and accommodating to my needs who respond well to Request Very pet friendly good value for the money HBO was a nice benefit The shower was great Jackinl, the box restaurant across the street There was a phone in the room to reach the front desk or my calls around the world Decent toiletries Could use a coffee maker in the room The room floor could’ve been more clean. My new white sock was pretty dirty from walking in the room. If someone was shooting a fireworks and then early evening, several nights in a row

Outside says FREE HBO, but inside says antenna channels only, and even those didn't work. I've stayed there many times. It is reasonably clean, but It's just not what it used to be.

Not the best
- 1/5
Roaches and spiders
- 2/5
The place appeared to be clean but there was German brown cockroaches. So that makes it really not great for me. Thankfully it was for only one night.
- 2/5
Blood on the walls and curtains. Gang tagging on walls and mirrors. Room 211 smells like cigarettes. Only thing possitive was that the beds and sheets are comfortable.
- 5/5
Good Motel. Great neighborhood.
- 5/5
very clean, bug free, nice neighborhood
- 1/5
Gunshots at night, stinky dirty rooms, I never review but I want to save people from booking this place. Avoid at all costs. This area has gone downhill quite a bit since COVID.
- 4/5
Very quiet area and easy check in.

- 2/5
It was cheap but definitely didn’t feel clean. The room was non smoking but smelled like cigarettes. The walls and ceiling was dirty. And both doors looked damaged. Was not nice at all
- 2/5
$20 deposit cash only when sign says on window major credit cards accepted. Non smoking room but smells like smoke. Room needs a major deep clean. Water leaking from the mini fridge. Not worth for the price I paid.
- 1/5
Stay away from this place. The people behind the counter are the most unprofessional and rude. The lady was very standoff ish, demanded payment, and was arguing over every little thing...stay away from this place at all cost
- 3/5
The hotel was basic. It smelled bad. The carpet was sticky. I would not if I were you...
- 3/5
Service was ok. House keeping didn’t do much, just changed our bathroom trash can. Carpet is very dirty to the point where you can’t walk around barefoot without your feet turning black. Room smelled like smoke upon arrival and departure and we purchased a non smoking room. Area is a little sketchy as well.
- 1/5
I never even checked in, I couldn’t understand anything the guy was
- 1/5
This place is a dumpbin the worst neighborhood. Homeless people everywhere, filthy streets, nowhere to park on streets and very limited parking on property. People live here. It's not a hotel, it's a shelter. It was so bad I asked for a refund and they refused so I never checked. I just left and found a room elsewhere. I can't believe this happened through Expedia. Research your listings or lose customers.
- 2/5
Location was ok, for our purpose for the stay. Area not so good...kinda of scary. Price is high for lack of service, amenities (none - no breakfast... wifi is spotty.... nothing else) .. sign-in was through a window. Only staff was a lady who was looking up-keeping the rooms (poorly done .. beds not made, have to go down to gel more towel & toiletries "through the window". Would not recommend...surprise it is on Expedia (hoping better screening process).
- 5/5
Sirry about that last review, it was for the wtong hotel. We love it here.
- 1/5
The lafy that works there is a mean, unpleasent, unfriendly bi**h! We usef to stay yhere alot but because of her overall attitude we will NEVER go back, even if it was the only hotel in the state snd we would have to sleep on the streets. I would rather sleep on the streets on a bed of broken glass than deal with that lady.
- 1/5
Did.not like the neighborhood. I have kids and the tv was left with an inappropriate channel on.
- 2/5
Toilet paper was wet. Shower was leaking. When I told the front desk about the wet toilet paper. All he said that’s not good. And rolled out all the wet paper. Bed sheets were also stained
- 1/5
While the language barrier may have played into this situation (and I can certainly empathize with them; being immigrants running a business in a low-rent district, they probably have had people 'scam' them or at least be very disagreeable), but their own lack of empathy was evident. They refused to return the deposit, too, over the 5 minute delay, despite having agreed to a late checkout before. There are better places in Long Beach for cheap (including the Ruby Motel just down the street, which we put our friend up in while we've been trying to find him a more permanent housing situation), so I would not recommend.
- 1/5
First impression, there is little parking and it’s very tight. As I checked in, I was told to give them $10 cash. Once in the room it reaked of cigarette smoke. The carpets were sticky and never cleaned, covered in burn holes. The refrigerator was making a loud clunky noise, and the microwave on top of it was rusted and broken. The sink in the bathroom had type of pressure, and it was way too much. The shower was decent but I didn’t dare go in barefoot. The rules in the bathroom are way too slippery and I almost broke my neck several times. The towels they provided were dirty and looked like they were re-folded but never changed; I used my own. The air vent in the bathroom was disgusting as well. The tv was old and terrible, and the bed and pillows were god awful. The only decent part as the AC. On our second night there, we heard muffled screams coming from the other room. The kind that sound like someone has been kidnapped. We got up and left. This place is a hell hole and I don’t even know why it’s open or an option with Hotels.com
- 1/5
Its a ghetto motel! Drug dealers, prostitutes and im not exaggerating! We didn’t stay, we changed our hotel!
- 5/5
Friendly family staff. Clean. Nice neighborhood close to the beach. I rented a bike and it was great. Great for budget conscious people.
- 4/5
It was cozy and fitted my needs. The one thing that was a disappointment was parking, not enough.
- 1/5
Nothing was pleasant, dangerous 😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑people live there, someone almost got robbed.
- 4/5
It meets the standards for a 2-star hotel, nothing much more to say beyond that.
- 4/5
The cleanliness and comfort of the room is surprising based on the appearance of the neighborhood and outside appearance of this motel. I recognize my bias, but the “office” for this motel seems more fitting for a by-the-hour hotel. I am happy to return when i come to Long Beach again.
- 4/5
No tea or coffee making facilities, clean towels daily but didn’t make the bed. Overall great value
- 4/5
Nice, quiet, clean and comfortable.
- 1/5
I'm usually not a fickle for cleanliness (I've stayed at motels before with a roach or two and shrugged it off) but bed bugs is where I draw the line. The bed linens were stained and they had heavy markings of bed bugs at the bottom. The person I talked to at the reception was rude, so this only made the whole thing that much worse. I reached out to hotels.com for a refund (fat chance I'll get it) and this is my first negative experience I have had with this site.
- 2/5
Needed a place to stay last minute, you get what you pay for. It was cheap and not in a great area. They made us give a deposit for our room keys... but when we checked out early the next morning no one was at the front desk to reimburse us..
- 2/5
This motel was not worth 84$.
- 5/5
The experience was great. Check in was very fast and effective. I needed to get in before 3 which was check in time and they were able to accommodate me checking in 2 hours early.
- 4/5
I don't have time to write a review. iiiiiiiii iiiiiii iiiiiiiii iiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiii
- 2/5
Hotel staff/owners were great. Beds were comfortable and although you could tell the rooms had been serviced they were still yucky, walls, bathroom doors, floors you had to wear your shoes on etc. people loitering in the small parking lot that was available seemed to be waiting on their possible “female business” partner.
- 1/5
I would not recommend staying st this hotel it is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in fact I checked out as I did not feel safe staying here
- 5/5
The room was so comfortable! The carpet had so much padding
- 2/5
It pains me to write this review, because the worst part of this motel is its patrons and, admittedly, the patrons can't be controlled by the hotel staff. To a degree anyway. This is a trap house, and I can't help but think if the hotel was more discerning over who they allow into their facility it wouldn't be *the* go-to place for the lowlifes of Long Beach. Good luck feeling safe here. It's downright scary and you'll find yourself in some type of trouble whether you're looking for it or not.
- 2/5
the area was pretty scary, it seemed like there were local people hanging out in the stairwell, riding their bikes in the parking area. Person at the desk was trying to charge me $5.00 for a door card...say what!. I was there for one night, the area was a little scary to even come outside at night.
- 2/5
Very nosie and parking is bad basic motel should have found another place no refund buyer beware
- 1/5
To start off hotel owner is extremely rude and I witnessed him being rude and actually cussing out a hotel guest asking for a refund because when they spoke on the phone he had told her her room was nonsmoking but her room smelled like cigarette. My room was not the cleanest, the rooms need some serious cleaning and remodeling. Parking here is extremely limited and let's just hope people know how to park so you don't have to go through what I went through. There was a parking spot available and the person next to that spot was taking up part of the spot so I asked the hotel owner to ask the hotel guest to park their car correctly and he avoided the situation and pretty much kept calling me stupid then asked me to park in a handicap parking spot. Then I had the loudest hotel guest couple fighting for hours next door and nothing was done about it. Don't stay here, It's cheap but you're really better off staying elsewhere.
- 2/5
Room was nice and simple, a little on the ghetto side but still for the price it was decent. A bathroom could use some work because the toilets and showers sucked! Besides that, you pay for what you get!
- 3/5
Needed a hotel for a one night stay. The beds were surprisingly comfortable and the room was very clean. However, very old building and not maintained. Although smoking was prohibited, someone (another guest?), took cigarette breaks in the stairway adjacent to our room, and the wall mounted AC unit basically blew all the smoke in our room. Complained but no other rooms were avail.
- 4/5
The front reception provided accomodation arrangements for us at the last minute and we appreciate their effort and courtesy.
- 5/5
It was a very basic but very clean property. I would crash there again when my daughter is in a theater production late at night.
- 1/5
It was in a scary neighborhood, roomed smelled like cigarettes. Thought I would die of second hand smoke
- 4/5
It was comfortable very quiet. I stay here pretty often never a disappointmentap
- 2/5
Standard Hotel stay, the shower head leaked and left no water pressure which was frustrating we notified on checkout with no comment from staff. Just a smaller private run hotel. parking was limited and location security was questionable at times.
- 1/5
We arrived at Hotel was told did not have a room for us even though had booked and prepaid room over 2 months before and had been sent an email reminder about our coming stay 4 days before arrival. Sent us to another motel in lower condition that they said also owned. Had to pay for another taxi fare to get there and they wanted a deposit when got there, told them no, that room already paid for and then they started to act like they couldn't understand us. Will not book a room at either Royal Inn or Tower in the future.
- 4/5
Motel was better than I expected for the price. Older facility but has definitely been taken care of. Windows were new, exterior was painted recently. Beds were comfortable and bedding was clean. Bathroom was aged and could use some help. But I would stay here again based on the price compared to other hotels in the area. Location in Long Beach was a little rough, but not too bad.
- 3/5
nothing in the immediate area, but close enough access to convention center, queen mary area. sheets has some small stains and tears, and wallpaper was kind of ratty. staff was nice enough, but literally only spoke to them to check in and out, and they weren't of many words. nothing horriffic by a long shout though. i'd prefer a nice hotel, but in a pinch or with a late reservation it's not bad for a basic room.
- 3/5
OK... so you know that if you're paying less than $100 near downtown LB you're looking at "down market" locations. That said, Royal Inn was about as could as it could be, for its age and location. I didn't care much for the pink exterior paint job but the rooms were clean and perfectly acceptable. If I need to stay near downtown LB again, I will definitely consider a return stay.
- 4/5
The hotel was on a little less desireable area, however is secure. I completely was sold on the room until I found a piece of clothing from a previous guest! No coffee machine is a negative to me as well. Hotel staff however are very accommodating. Check the room before before check in I advise.
- 3/5
Not the nicest area for sure. 5$ deposit for the room key if that's an indication. Pretty sure I got visited by some bed bugs too, something, developed a rash for a couple days. Just try not to touch anything in the room... Definitely would not stay again.
- 2/5
If price is your primary concern, this isn't a bad choice, but I will choose to go up market a bit next time.
- 1/5
Blood smeared all over bathroom door, prostitutes screaming in the parking lot, have to pay $5 extra for your room key, overall sketchy dangerous area to stay. Other reviews extremely misleading. Couldn't pay me enough to even take my shoes off in one of their rooms.
- 4/5
The motel is old, but the room was updated. The only complaint we had was the musty smell that was pretty strong. Other than that, it's a perfectly serviceable motel.
- 2/5
Staff and owner are completely rude... I asked for extra towels and I was told to go get the dirty towels so that he can give me more. I told him he was more than welcome to go get them hisself and his reponer was "this is not a 5 star hotel". I requested he give us our money back then and we would find another hotel that was more accommodating and he told me to go through Expedia. When we first arrived the room wreaked of bleach to the point we had to leave our stuff open windows and leave because it was hurting our eyes and throat and room was not ready by check in time. Not to mention counters were not wiped down properly. The night we arrived we were early so we were not able to check in which was our fault however there were hookers in the parking lot which made me want to choose a different hotel but unfortunately we could. Oh get our money back so we did not. Also owner was demanding a deodorant for the key to the motel which no where on the confirmation did it indicate we needed to provide that so I refused to give the deposit. Overall staff is rude. Our stay despite the minor issues with the smell of room and uncontrollable situations as far as hookers the stay would have been bearable if the staff would be a bit friendlier.
- 1/5
whether was good. service substandard. over price
- 2/5
It was just a room with a bed. The picture on the internet made it all look better then it was.
- 4/5
The room is a bit small, but very clean and comfortable. The A/C worked very well - kept the room cool and was not noisy. The room was well maintained. There was no daily clean up, which didn;t bother me, but it might do it for some people. Nice service otherwise. Also, a $5 key deposit was required and was refunded upon checkout.
- 3/5
Checked in late night for a one night stay, everything was great.
- 2/5
This is the first time any hotel asked me for a deposit $$ for the room key
- 4/5
Great room for the price. The outside of the building is a little worn, but the inside is nice, well-kept, and comfortable. The neighborhood is pretty rough, but its short drive to the beach, so that makes up for it. The room doesn't have a lot in it, but it gets the job done.
- 2/5
the room did not smell fresh.Shower head clogged up.
- 5/5
it's an older 1950s 1960s outershell but all the interiors are all new it's comparable to the Motel 6 but much cleaner than the Motel 6. The room was a little small but the king bed was really nice, all the sheets blankets and towels are very clean, showers are spotless, the toilet as well spotless, I only spent one night there but I highly suggest getting there early to get a parking spot, one thing that's a heads up is to have five dollars handy for the key deposit, you will get it back on returning the key
- 2/5
No so great at all, one parking space per room and they did not want us to have any visitors. Very strict, and I have never heard of a hotel not allowing any visitors.
- 2/5
The room was not very clean and the maid services were pretty much none existing. Luck for us we didnt spend much time in the room except to sleep. Over priced
- 5/5
Very nice and quiet. Only parking thats quite limited otherwise awesome
- 4/5
I was actually pleasantly surprised that the room was so clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom looked recently remodeled. There was a little musty smell at first but we kept the door open for a few minutes and it improved. The neighborhood looked a little questionable, but it was close and convenient to an event I was attending the next day.
- 1/5
Hotel does not permit visitors in the room and not friendly staff
- 2/5
Room had a terrible mildew smell and between the hours of 1 am up until 5 am, some other guests brought in some visitors ( even thought the inn policy was no visitors), everyone was drunk and extremly loud. Would not recommend.
- 3/5
$5.00 refundable deposit for room key Bare neccesities. No lobby. Staff accommendating
- 1/5
The sheets, pillow cases, and towels had hair on them. The shower curtain was stained and disgusting. The non smoking room smelled of smoke and had cigarette burns on the blanket. The parking is limited. The shower water didn't stay warm.
- 3/5
Motel had a somewhat run-down look on the outside. But decent on the inside, with plenty of TV channels.
- 3/5
Ok
- 1/5
Basically overpaid a room that should have been $45.00 a night and they charged us $80. The room is located in the old part of town and the room smelled of mold and dampness. Had to go buy an air freshner so we could sleep.
- 5/5
Friendly staff.... Plenty of room for parking. Middle of many great Long Beach areas... Great price and staff is super friendly, especially the guy...forgot his name but I think he was Indian or middle Eastern for sure.
- 4/5
Pretty nice in the inside and out
- 4/5
the room was a bit small but for my fiancé and i it was perfect.
- 5/5
We rented this place for us and our brial party. We had all of the double king suites. They were huge and very comfortable. The owners were very accommodating and very nice. My people were a bit rowdy and they weren't too bothered. The beds are so soft and the rooms are so nice. They were exactly what I needed for my wedding.
- 4/5
We tried to make reservation for 2 beds, but could not online or by phone and the clerk charged us an extra $20 for a third person. Not happy about that but it all worked out. We just needed to sleep before an early morning flight.
- 2/5
Not a good stay at all. Property is worn out
- 1/5
This hotel is in a very bad part of town and I felt unsafe during my stay.
- 5/5
Nice and quiet area lots of restaurants and shopping centers
- 4/5
Nice comfortable mattress very clean kinda small room.
- 2/5
I stayed with my family for one night .. but you can not more.. the smell in the room was horrible .. I had problems with check in .. recommend for couples ..
- 5/5
Excellent staff., nice room, good location and near friends I was visiting.
- 1/5
Noisy neighborhood, room smellso like someone smoked there before, smell of sigarets mixed with air freshener. Probably has or could have bed bugs.
- 3/5
Not bad
- 4/5
The location is very convenient regarding the public transportation , Two buses can bring you there from down town. A good price and a nice room. No Complaints .
- 4/5
the area is in the 'Cambodia town' area, so it is fairly quiet. Close to the B/A, next door. Kingdom hall the next block over. Jack in the Box across the street, sufficient parking. Good 'regular' place. Not the ritz, but not the dump, either.
- 1/5
Not only was the hotel in the worse part of town, but we were offered drugs, saw many people walking around on drugs. The hotel room was decent for one night. The bathroom was gross. The staff were rude and unfriendly. They wouldn't give us our money back even after we complained and pointed out all the obvious. They were also records my their guests on their cellphone. Was the worse way to spend my first night
- 5/5
Clean large room with comfortable beds; excellent condition.
