Lerk at desk was not the best at customer service

Location

The room was nice, the bed was comfortable. The commode in 301 isn’t sitting squarely on the floor. It rocks when you set on it. Has been repaired before based on the tile etc around it. The hotel is next to an all night fast food so busy at times. I would stay there again.

It was a clean hotel and a good bet if you are looking for an economical, no frills hotel. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was pitiful though.

Our room was SO hot and humid. Our family barely slept because of it. Felt like no one turn the air on in there for a long time, and when we did it was a weak slightly cool breeze. Not enough to cool the actual room down.

The rooms are well-kept and clean. It was odd to me that the breakfast area is in the reception area, so when you’re checking out you have an audience, lol. It’s not that serious, just different. Plenty of parking and you can walk to McDonald’s and have staff watch you since they’re neighbors. Definitely felt safe.

I’m not sure how this hotel received any positive reviews. Not only was my room unclean, it also smelled like dirty feet.

This hotel is very close to the Syracuse Airport, and they have a shuttle that runs frequently all night.

Absolutely nothing!

I checked in around midnight and went straight to my room. Got into bed and some girl was talking on speaker phone Nextdoor for approximately 45 minutes. I could hear everything. The walls seemed to be paper thin. The light from the parking lot was hardly blocked. Was woken up repeatedly from outside noise. The shower took forever to heat up and spilled out all over the floor. The sheets felt gritty along with the towel.

No ,one ever mentioned that with documentation, I could receive a hospital discount until the very last night I stayed there. I asked for a partial refund for the day's that I stayed BUT they said that couldn't be done. I believe if they couldn't credit/adjust my account via their computer - Super 8 should issue me a check for the difference. I CONSIDER it the staff's mistake for not bringing the significant hospital discount to my attention - until the VERY LAST NIGHT! (I stayed four nights)

We had a great stay, the property was clean. The room was everything we needed. Especially at the reasonable price, it was worth it. I'd recommend it anyone who just needs a simple hotel to stay for a couple nights.

I have only stayed at several Super 8’s before—I usually opt for a “higher rated” chain, but Good Lord, the inflated prices this year! I took a chance on this, as it was conveniently located, the price was great, and the reviews were decent. I’m very glad I did. It’s basic, from amenities to breakfast, but had everything I needed AND neat and clean as a pin. Workers were in evidence everywhere I looked, including a window washer! My own mother would not be able to find fault. PSA: Don’t forget to tip your housekeeper well—they are a good part of keeping our experiences positive!) Also, easiest on/off the highway possible.

Overall, we had a very good stay here and would stay again. Check-in was smooth, the gentleman helping us at the front desk was professional, accommodating, friendly, and genuinely helpful. He helped us arrange the complimentary airport shuttle for our very early 6:00 AM flight; explained you couldn't show up it had to be scheduled. I mentioned I was nervous about cutting it too close, he recommended a 4:30 AM shuttle. The room itself was clean, spacious, comfortable had a microwave and mini fridge. The mattresses were surprisingly comfortable. The only issue we ran into was with the airport shuttle as it did not arrive at the scheduled time. When I went to ask about it at 4:29 AM, the woman working was unfortunately not very reassuring or empathetic. She told me I was being unreasonable because the shuttle was booked for 4:30 and it was not technically late yet, then explained the driver was the only one working and would be there in about 10 minutes. The shuttle ultimately arrived 12 minutes late and everything did work out, however it definitely made the airport experience much more rushed than we had planned for, especially after specifically trying to avoid that situation when scheduling transportation. That said, I would absolutely stay here again. My only recommendation to future guests with early flights would be to schedule an earlier shuttle than you think you need, just to give yourself some extra buffer time.

Parent of a Syracuse student. This property is about 4 miles from the dome. Easily accessible to the highway. There’s literally a McDonald’s staring at you in the parking lot. One of the affordable options around that is very nice and not run down. Price does fluctuate, as with all surrounding properties of the university. Front desk was efficient and professional. House keeping very present and always busy. My room was located right by the staff lounge and staff area. Bed can use a refresh. Coils in bed triggered right shoulder pain. Can get loud in the morning. Property and staff gave that corporate feel but in a good way. I will look at rebooking this particular property for the next several years.

The property was unbelievably disgusting. The hallway to the room and the room itself smelled like a filthy boys locker room. My son began experiencing an asthma attack in the room, and my wife became nauseated. As a result, we were forced to leave immediately.

We were attending an event at Lemoyne College and needed an expensive, but clean and safe, place to stay. This worked out perfectly! The staff was friendly, the room worked well, and there were quick service restaurants moments away. If we returned to the area, we would stay here again!

We stayed at this hotel prior to flying out of Syracuse and used their paid shuttle service for transportation to/from the airport. We were instructed to call for a ride once we received our luggage because the hotel is 4 miles away. After calling the hotel for a ride, it took countless phone calls over an hour period and eventually an Uber to get back to the hotel. I highly recommend staying away from this hotel. The manager played it off like it was no big deal. Very unprofessional.

Parking was easy. Breakfast was basic but there was McDonalds next door. Tully's a block away for great food. Staff is very friendly. I've stayed here before and will stay again in June when we come back.

This hotel is better maintained than many major hotel brands. This was my first time staying at a Super 8, and I highly recommend this location. It was exceptionally clean, the staff was great, and the location was convenient. Because of this experience, I’m open to trying other Super 8 locations in the future.

Our stay at Super 8 was great! Reasonably priced and hotel was clean and nicely decorated. Good location to many places especially the Syracuse Discovery Mall. Person greeting us at arrival was personable and professional. Check in and out was quick. Room was a nice size and nicely decorated. Breakfast was ok for a free one. Coffee was ok bit a little weak. I would definitely come to this hotel again.

For the price this is a very good value. The hotel and rooms are clean and as everything works. The staff were friendly and efficient. The location is convenient to the airport, expressway and some fast food mini mart options. Nothing fancy, but a good value. The reservation didn’t mention breakfast, but they have coffee out 24/7 and do put out simple breakfast options (yogurt, cereal, bagels, juice). There is also a McDonald’s in the same parking lot.

I was very impressed with this hotel. I stayed for four days. The people were fabulous. The place was so clean. It always smelled so good. There was always somebody outside sweeping or cleaning or doing something to make the place look better. The employees always had a smile on their face if you needed anything, they were right there for your needs. I will definitely stay there again, but I do feel you need to change your pictures for your property because it doesn’t show how pretty it really is it shows you don’t do breakfast but you do a little breakfast. It looks more homier when you walk in then when you look at the pictures and I think they should put the nonstick pads underneath the microwave just so the microwave doesn’t slide all over the refrigerator cause you’re marking up your refrigerator. But whoever’s running that hotel is doing an amazing job and I will be passing the word.

For the price this was very good. I am quite satisfied. The hotel was a large and substantial hotel/conference center at one time and has seen better days. It is showing its age now and is not in top shape… but again, I feel that for the price it is quite decent.

The hotel is conveniently located near Rt. 81 in Syracuse and within comfortable distance from the airport. The airport shuttle was a welcomed amenity. The room was clean, spacious, peaceful, and comfortable. It was a pleasurable and affordable stay. We'll be back again if our travels happen to roll through Syracuse.

I wish the front door was automatic to help bringing in luggage and the breakfast is limited. Other than that everything else is great and it’s right next to a McDonald’s that stays open until 3am

Unsatisfactory sleeping conditions. My sleep was interupted three during my stay. Notified front desk of loud music playing in adjacent room after 10 PM. Staff member responded to my call, "We will walk the halls". My room was located above the drive-thru area of McDonalds fast-food restaurant, customers voices and auto engine noise interupted my sleep. Hotel fire alarm at 2:15 AM interupted my sleep. Fire alarm was triggered by smoking resident in handicap room located on first floor.

Stay was good/fine. Everything was clean. The wall unit was extremely loud, but we got used to it. My husband found some guy smoking Marijuana in the stairwell area, so that was less than ideal. But other than that, it was very easy to get to, and close to lots of stuff.

The problem was that when we arrived (in January), the room was freezing. There aren't enough guests at this time so they just leave the rooms cold. We turned on the heater unit in the wall but it only goes to 78F and it took about 3 or 4 hours before the room was actually comfortable (and the floor was still very cold). The cold breakfast provided was fine. Overall, it would have been 4 or 5 stars except for the fact that they have a policy of giving you a freezing room in the winter time, and then leaving it to you to warm it up.

They advertised it was a queen size bed, it was a double and very cramped for a couple. Otherwise it was clean a sufficient for a 1 night stay.

It’s fine for the price. I’m really confused where you even buy half sized pillows? But anyways that’s what you’re gonna be sleeping on when you stay here is a half of a pillow. It’s actually pretty funny. It looks like they went around each room and cut every pillow in half down the middle. You will certainly not get anything fancy at this hotel but it’s clean and cheap.

Easy transportation

We arrived late but were greeted by a kind and courteous receptionist, which was much appreciated after a long day. The room was basic but clean, and we slept well. We left early the next morning, so aside from grabbing a quick cup of coffee, we didn’t have the chance to try the breakfast. Overall, the price was right for what we needed, and we would happily stay again under similar circumstances.

Great wake up call and shuttle to airport

I did not have breakfast. I heard that it is just a basic continental breakfast, prepared well and safely, and served in a clean dinning area. The hotel-airport shuttle was fast and reliable.

Clean room, great staff

I was very disappointed to be told that despite the website saying there was an airport shuttle (which was why I chose this hotel)), the shuttle is only for airline personnel. Fortunately I was able to get an uber. That was not an expense that I had planned on.

I was running a few minutes late for check-out so I asked the person at the front desk if I could check out a few minutes late (within 30 minutes of the actual checkout time) she was not very approachable to begin with, but said she would make a note of it. As I was about to leave at 11am (actual check out time), housekeeping was banging on the door. I told her I'm about about to leave (she could see I had my jacket on and bags in hand (I was doing final check of the room), but rudely insisted that check out is 11am. I told her I spoke to front desk about leaving a few minutes late. Her response was a audible sigh and stomping off. If you decide to stay here, the room might be satisfactory, but staff will make things unpleasant.

Aurora shuttle was awesome. While there are places close by ours not easy to walk to and i didn't feel super safe with my baby going alone.

What you've got here is a clean, well presented, comfortable place to hang your hat. It's my go to for Syracuse.

Staff was great. Extra blanket no problem. Asked for some OJ even though it was just before breakfast and they accommodated. Bed was bigger than a king. Great experience.

I stay here anytime I am flying out of Syracuse on an early flight. I have always enjoyed my stay. This time, the front desk person in the morning when I went to catch the shuttle was extremely rude. I may need to find another hotel. She really needs to be coached on how to speak to patrons.

This Super 8 is perfectly serviceable hotel very close to Syracuse airport. The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel has easy access by car/foot to a McDonald's and a Tully's for preflight snacks/food/drinks.

Our room was A-OK. Once we left the confines of the room, I would say it could use some improvement, which to be fair seemed that they were working on. There was a large bin collecting dripping water from the ceiling in our hallway which was not pleasant. The elevator was old (but functional at least). All in all, I'd say I'd stay here again if ever in this region. Good value for the price paid if nothing else.

The airport shuttle worked fine. What I did not like is that in their hotel info the shuttle was free, but then we were told that it will cost us $59 to keep our car there until we return. There was nothing telling us that when we booked the room. I think we should be reimbursed for the $59. The night (early morning) clerk was fantastic.

Ratings have to be on value. This motel is 100% worth the value. I was by myself visiting family in the area and just needed a reliable bed to sleep in. WiFi was fine, TV was fine. I was SHOCKED when my they cleaned my room daily. For the price, not going to beat it. Only issue was thin walls, noise from parking lot and McDonald's drive thru. Are there better places nearby? 100%. But you'll pay more.

The hotel was worth the money. Very convenient location from major highway with several convenience gas stations nearby and a McD’s right next door. The staff at the desk were competent. The room is small but meets the needs. I would have liked an iron/ironing board on the room but I didn’t ask. The corridors are a little dim and smaller but for the price it is pretty much expected. No complaints.

Had a very pleasant stay in a quiet, clean, spacious, well equipped room. The staff was friendly and professional, the facility was convenient to both I80 and the Turnpike. Will stay here again when I'm in the area.

Overall this was a great hotel! I was nervous to stay because the area seemed unsafe but my room was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helped me figure out the airport shuttle! Would stay again!

The room was super clean, quiet and the furnishings looked upgraded. Check-in was a breeze since I checked in online - I gave my name, the clerk handed me our key cards and off we went! Breakfast options were limited but sufficient and good coffee! All in all, great value and we would stay here again!

I love the convenience of the shuttle! And the staff is very friendly.

Everything seemed very good and staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was ok. And closed at 9:30 sharp. I came down at 9:40 and could only access coffee. It was barely warm at that point.

Absolutely one of the best hotels I have stayed at in a very long time. Desk clerk Taedon Edwards should be promoted or at the very least given a huge pay raise for how he works the desk. He answered questions for guests one after another. Never lost his professionalism. Very friendly and knew his job well. Hotel was excellent. Beds were very comfortable. Only suggestion would be to make one of the outside doors more user friendly in case someone had their hands full coming inside the building so all they had to do was to press a button. Definitely will stay her again. Thanks!!!!

stayed here to visit the New York State fair, was not too far away reasonably priced. There are plenty of nearby restaurants if you want to step out to get a bite to eat. Would stay here again.

had a great stay. the location is AMAZING for getting to the mall and the amphitheater! it was clean and has a ton of amazing amenities like free coffee and hot cocoa. the only issues i had were that the TV’s are not smart TV’s and that the bedding is just a sheet and a duvet cover, so sleeping with the AC on i was cold. if i am back in the syracuse area for any reason i will be staying here again!!!

We have stayed multiple times and find it is a great place to stay for a great price. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. The only marks off would be the chlorine-like smell, mainly in the lobby. They do not have a pool, so I am guessing it was from a cleaner. It was not crazy strong but was noticeable during check-in; at least you could tell it was cleaned. The smell was gone when we came down later that night. Overall our stay was good.

When I saw that all the reviews that said the hotel was Excellent, I was wary...and rightfully so. While, it was clean (save for a few spots on the microwave), there were spots that were in need of repair especially in the bathroom. Caulking job was terrible, the faucet was loose, and worse, the shower curtain rod was rusted and leaning out of the wall that the curtain wouldn't stay closed. These items are beyond repair and should be replaced.

Good value for the money. Breakfast is only boxes of cereal, packaged bagel, juice and coffee. But it's an inexpensive hotel, so I wasn't expecting a lot for breakfast.

The furniture was not in great condition. Our room was directly across from the elevator so it was very loud. The ice machine was broken.

Taedon took great care of me upon arrival, giving me a great suggestion for dinner and giving me the option to have a quiet room on the 3rd floor after I said I was exhausted from travel. He even asked how dinner was, and if I was comfortable when I returned from eating. A true gentleman, thank you, Taedon.
