Reviews
The Capital Hotel is a historic and beautiful property with a convenient location in downtown Little Rock. Guests generally appreciate the friendly and accommodating staff, as well as the cleanliness of the hotel. However, some guests have experienced issues with the service, such as long wait times, unhelpful staff, and poor communication. Additionally, some guests have found the rooms to be outdated and lacking in amenities, such as coffee makers and functioning TVs.

We love the bar at the capital bar and grill. Amazing bartenders.

I loved staying at this historic, old world hotel for a week. The rooms are elegant, clean and spacious. I was in town doing wedding planning with my daughter and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly & accommodating. I felt so special. My husband could not be there, so I was traveling alone, yet always felt safe and comfortable. Their drivers were top-notch gentlemen who took me anywhere I needed and promptly picked me up. Their 2 restaurants were wonderful & spiced pecans are out of this world! I’ll be sure to return here each time I visit! Highly recommend!!!

From the moment we arrived, the experience felt different from a typical hotel stay. We loved that the valet personally walked our luggage up to our room. It was such a thoughtful touch and set the tone for the level of service throughout our visit. We also really enjoyed the patio and spent some time up there with drinks from the fantastic bar. The breakfast was one of the best meals of our trip. The robes, slippers, bath products, and all the little details exceeded my expectations. Everything about the experience felt elevated without being stuffy. The Capital Hotel was absolutely worth the extra money, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommend.

You must accommodate customers with walk in showers. ITS A MUST. Too much liability to have customers stepping into a tub. Hatred that part of my experience

Nice and clean old hotel with great food options especially breakfast in a nice downtown location

Everything was good except for the staff knocking on your door to clean the room before checkout time. That's a little rude.

This is a beautiful hotel. I really liked the historic charm. Most of the staff were really nice and helpful. The only thing that was not top notch to me, was the valet service. It was slow at times, however the valet staff were nice and friendly. Coffee was good, facilities are nice. I would recommend this hotel if you are traveling to Little Rock.

The room was very clean. We did find that the TV remote in room 310 batteries are almost dead and need replacing. There was a light out in the bathroom and the shower pull plunger on the bathtub came out when we started the shower one time. We were able to get it back in but it should be fastened correctly.

The Capital Hotel is beautiful beyond words. The breakfast service and menu were outstanding.
- 5/5
There for a wedding, and we had the best time! Such a fun hotel!
- 2/5
The property and staff were great, however, there was an extremely loud noise inside my bathroom wall (no one from maintenance could figure it out, and they said they would have to shut room 312 down after I checked out, but didn’t offer me another room). The gym is across the street in another building, but the elevator is broke, so it took me 30 minutes just to gain access to the gym. Overall just not convenient and I slept horribly with the constant noise. Old hotel I guess. Great character and staff
- 5/5
The facility was so clean and the staff was the friendliest ever. I love this place!

I did not have hot water for my shower this morning
- 4/5
No hot water. The bath, shower, and sinks had no hot water. It was challenging to take a Cold shower on our anniversary. But we managed.

Comfortable, calm, pampered. Staff is amazing!!

The hotel turned the water off to work on the pipes at 10pm, which was right when we got back from our business dinner. Then all night I heard them banging on the roof and kept me up. Beautiful hotel but terrible job handling the water.

Always amazing

We booked the hotel for our incoming candidate. They were really impress by the hotel and the quality of the room.

Well-appointed, classic building in downtown, Little Rock Phone in room didn’t work. In room dining was average - not cooked to proper temps, no salt and pepper, request for extra syrup wasn’t met, coffee was room temp - on New Year’s morning. They just missed on the little things

I have stayed in nice hotels all over the world. NYC, London, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, etc etc. The Capital holds it's own against any of the "big city" hotels.

We stay her 1-2 times per year on our way through Little Rock. This hotel is an historic treasure! Beautifully restored and maintained. Attention to every detail. Rooms are impeccably cleaned and prepared. Food at both restaurants is outstanding. Great staff at every level. A treat to stay here!
- 5/5
It had been a long time since we had stayed there. Forgot how charming it was and such a nice get away place. I did not think the breakfast was very good. Coffee was cold when it came, but waiter took care of that really quick. We had the egg breakfast with grits and toast. Bacon was ok, but did not like the house made sausage nor the grits. Eggs were cooked like we liked, but again so-so. Our waiter was outstanding. She provided excellent service and very pleasant.

Excellent staff
- 5/5
All in all a very good stay. The only issue was while having dinner in the bar/restaurant area a large peloton of strange riders came in be in very loud and obnoxious. Sat down for about 15 mins didn’t order drinks and ruined the vibe.
- 5/5
Beds are not comfortable. Sheets are nice and bedding is simple. But mattress is like a rock. Pillows are good.
- 5/5
Great location and staff.

Beautifully restored old hotel in downtown Little Rock.
- 5/5
Would definitely recommend this hotel when visiting Little Rock
- 5/5
Excellent facilities, personable staff, and convenient location. Would recommend.
- 4/5
In the morning, the restaurant was not open but they finally opened it about 20 minutes late and there was no one in it. Sausage was raw and eggs were not hot. Food and restaurant service was horrible at best. I could run it better and I definitely do not know how to run a restaurant, but my son is a trained chef and hotelier with a degree from an Ivy League school. He is out of that business due to COVID and working for a gaming company now so I have seen it from both sides. Just bad!
- 5/5
Property was beautiful and in great shape. Staff was outstanding
- 5/5
The Hotel itself was unbelievably cool. We spend a lot of time at resorts, The Capital was everything those places aren’t; cool, comfortable, charming, with character to spare.
- 5/5
SOOOO nice to stay in a place so clean, nice and unique.
- 5/5
One of our all time favorites. Never disappointed
- 4/5
I don't feel very safe walking from the hotel down to the Riverfront Area. But I love the facilities and staff. And the entire hotel and facilities are very clean.
- 5/5

Absolutely stunning eclectic hotel. A must stay if you're in Little Rock Arkansas.
- 5/5
Excellent experience all the way around.
- 5/5
Stay itself was excellent but not due to Hotels.com. The reservation didn’t show up so we had to book again directly with the hotel. Hoping to get a refund through Hotels.com. The hotel.com price was originally $170 but Capital Hotel felt bad and gave us a discount knowing we were being charged again. ($130)
- 5/5
Such a beautiful hotel! We always enjoy coming back!
- 5/5
The staff at the Capital Hotel was excellent. From the valet who met us at the curb to take our car (parking was free), to the front desk and the concierge. All were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the historic architecture and beautiful lobby. Our room was very quiet and we were able to sleep well. My only complaint was there seemed to be something off about the plumbing for the hot water. It fluctuated during showers for no apparent reason. Even with the plumbing issue, I would stay again in this gorgeous hotel!
- 5/5
We love the Capital hotel
- 5/5
This hotel was majestic and beautiful from the time we walked into the magnificent lobby, boarded the elegant room sized elevator, and entered our grand and spacious room. The bathroom was roomy and well equipped and there was a great closet as well as a separate space to open and place suitcases. I ate a late night snack at the restaurant and was greeted warmly by the staff there. The food was delicious. Water pressure was nice in the shower and the bed was comfortable. The only downside was that there was occasional noise from motorcycles or trucks in the street below. It was a Saturday night. The a.m. staff was very accommodating by offering tea in the lobby while we awaited our ride. All of the personnel were exceedingly friendly and went above and beyond the norm. I would highly recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful property and excellent service
- 5/5
We have stayed in many historic hotels and this is one of the most beautiful. It is very elegant, the staff was incredibly helpful, and the food was very good. Only small slight was the mattress could have been a bit firmer. But we were there for a couple of nights and found it to be incredibly relaxing.

- 5/5
Real beauty in the middle of the downtown. Plentiful dining options within walking distance. Close to river front and park. Easily accessible by the road with efficient valet parking.

Not sure about the safety due to the many "homeless" people wandering about.

We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Valet was on the spot as soon as we drove up. Check in was quick and friendly. Although this is an old hotel everything is on top shape, clean, and well appointed. The room was wonderful, and the beds are oh so comfortable! We had brunch in the cafe and it was wonderful too! My kids are still raving about those pancakes!
- 5/5
The property is full of old history and a beautiful building. The architecture is unparalleled to newer hotels.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel!
- 5/5
It is located conveniently near shopping and restaurants in the city. I decided to dine in and found the food to be fresh and delicious. I would recommend The Capital Hotel.
- 5/5
What a wonderful stay. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous.
- 5/5
Hidden gem! It deserves 5 stars.
- 5/5
Historic and beautiful. The room, the lobby, the staff. I do feel the lobby should serve drinks from their bars to patrons who are lounging in the lobby, similar to The Peabody. Especially on NYE. But our stay was excellent!
- 5/5
The Hotel is wonderful, and we had supper at the Capital grill and the servers were wonderful and the staff all the way around from Valet to the front desk could not have been friendlier, we will be back
- 5/5
Beautiful property! Second time here. The place is always immaculate. More than that, it is quite elegant! Love staying here. Great staff, great rooms, great food.

Excellent stay at The Capitol Hotel, a true gem in Little Rock.

liked everything about the property and look forward to returning
- 4/5
A beautiful hotel! Love it there.
- 5/5
It was decorated beautifully for Christmas and the staff was lovely!

- 4/5
The Capital Bar staff was rude and unpleasant, not just once, not just one person, several from hostess to waitress to even clean up. We went at 3:00, had bad experience, then went back at 8;30 and encountered same attitude. Obvious culture of Capital Bar is not up to Capital Hotel expectations.

Beautiful Hotel

That hotel appeared to have been recently updated and or painted. Service was warm, friendly and efficient. Sheets and beds were awesome.

Great hotel. Love the bar/restaurant in the lobby.

Beautiful Room, wonderful people

I have a great time ! Ten location of the hotel was excellent. The service is outstanding. I have had a help from Beatrice from front desk with a restaurant indication - she booked it for me and called the chef of the restaurant that was her friend . This is something out of the box ! Thanks
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel with excellent service. They had great recommendations for places to see and eat. Mini-bar with snacks was the best we have seen. Lots of history and in walking distance of waterfront.
- 5/5
Nice and clean. Staff friendly and welcoming.

I highly recommend The Capital Hotel in Little Rock! This beautiful, historic hotel was completed in 1877, and appears to have been lovingly cared for ever since! With all its gorgeous design elements, we were captivated by all this hotel had to offer. Centrally located in the River Market area, we were able to walk to many restaurants and shops. The staff at The Capital Hotel were also outstanding! They even laid out our slippers for us in the evening. But one of our favorite features of the hotel was the charming balcony on the second floor, known as Little Rock’s Front Porch! We enjoyed our coffee, and then later cocktails on LR’s Front Porch! If you find yourself in Little Rock, don’t miss out on this delightful gem!
- 5/5
We had a very good stay at the Capital. Service was friendly and it is an old, cool hotel. We liked the restaurant and the old furniture. Would be good if an alternative to plastic drinking water bottles could be found.
- 5/5
Elevators and rooms was exceptional. And every single person on staff was beyond kind. I want to come back!
- 5/5
Lovely restored hotel with gorgeous lobby, 2 great restaurants and impeccable service. Truly a fabulous place to stay in the middle of everything. Angela at the front desk even allowed me to visit the possibly haunted room 438. Such a lovely place that is my go to in Little Rock. TV technology a little inconsistent and frequently went on the fritz. The tv app options were LIMITED nee Spotify, prime or youtubetv but if you are seeing the sights you won't care.
- 5/5
Excellent ! Nice staff , beautiful room and food was outstanding
- 5/5
Wonderful historic hotel in downtown Little Rock
- 3/5
Construction in lobby was ugly and not worth the price paid. Rooms are not comfortable. Front desk service was very good.
- 5/5
Beautiful, safe staff is extremely accommodating. Great food.
- 5/5
enjoyed our stay, bed comfortable, staff helpful, valet parked our car, easy walking distance to market and main street festival.
- 5/5
Classy, comfortable and clean.
- 1/5
Very rude staff. We left immediately and went somewhere else
- 3/5
Hotel is doing some renovations. Woke to a very large crane being set up outside our room window which was used to drop off building materials on the roof/floor right above us causing thundering noises shaking the room and rattling the ceiling lights. Not sure why they would put any guests in that room given how early in the morning they started delivering materials.
- 5/5
Staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Hotel is steep in history. Fantastic location.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel!
- 5/5
Best hotel in town
- 5/5
The Capital Hotel is spotlessly Clean and the valet parking is fast and convenient.
- 5/5
Wonderful old hotel in Little Rock. Friendly staff, very welcoming
- 5/5
Beautiful lobby and mezzanine. Getting to the gym was confusing and you had to go outside to another building. No fridge in the room.
- 5/5
Always love this hotel. We visit several times a year. Great staff. Wonderful food.
- 3/5
Beautiful place to stay or visit. Room was a bit small for the price and my sink had a leak underneath.
- 5/5
This is a lovely, historic hotel with rich history. It is a clearly a favorite of locals especially during the holidays due to its soaring, gorgeous real tree in the lobby to its busy restaurants. Staff is very accommodating.
- 5/5
This hotel is very magical during the Christmas holiday. Everyone was very nice and made you feel welcomed.
- 5/5
Staff service is excellent
- 3/5
My biggest issue was the service. My daughter and I were not allowed into the breakfast service because they were “full.” There wasn’t even an attempt to apologize or make it up to us. The valet team seemed harried and were curt, almost rude. Reception was not particularly friendly. All in all, pretty disappointing considering the reputation of this hotel. Next time in LR we’ll definitely choose another property in the area.
- 5/5
Staff. Restaurant. Old Fashion's are top notch!
- 5/5
One of the most beautiful hotels we’ve ever stayed in.
- 5/5
We love the hotel. Historic and very comfortable.
- 5/5
Loved the historic hotel and its sense of history.
