Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with some guests expressing satisfaction with their stay and others expressing dissatisfaction. Common themes include issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and pet-related concerns.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Convenient location
- Cleanliness issues, including mold, mildew, and pet hair
- Maintenance issues, such as broken AC units and faulty key cards
- 3/5
The room smelled musty and the furniture was rundown. It was ok.
- 3/5
Handicap seat for pool broken unusable Towels were a disgrace too small Room smelled mustard not taken care of til much later Front desk people hid behind partition and were not seen unless called I wouldnt recommend this hotel unless you couldnt get in to a nearby one and needed to stay in this area
- 4/5
The shower was wonderful. By biggest test was the bed- super comfy and the pillows were fantastic- like down. My biggest gripe was that there was only one nightstand. The light, of course, was over that so sitting in bed with a drink was impossible. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Quiet. Pretty happy about the stay altogether for the price!
- 1/5
Our room was beyond filthy! The floors turned our feet/socks black. The smell of the room was awful! What was the worst part? The ROACHES!!! The bathroom had small baby roaches crawling around. The tv's are very old and outdated, all are, whether they're the Samsung brand or not, old tvs. The AC didn't work that well either. The smell in our room was so strong from whatever they used to clean it was hard to deal with. The smell of the elevator was pretty rough as well. They only havev1 nightstand which is very inconvenient when more than one person is in the room. The cart to bring in luggage on was so dirty it looked like someone had brought car motors in on them. We will not stay here again. The roaches & nasty floors was enough for us.
- 4/5
We stayed one night, headed out to a cruise and the price was good
- 5/5
Hotel does not have complimentary breakfast, just coffee. A little noisy due to the proximity of the highway. Request a room on the backside of the hotel away from the highway if you are sensitive to the sound of traffic. My wife had no issues with the noise.
- 1/5
Worn out and only 2.5 stars is all I could give.
- 0.5/5
Location The bathroom floor had broken tiles and I cut my foot. When management was told she was very rude. She did nothing to solve the problem. When we asked for more towels we were told that we didn’t get housekeeping because we were in suites. We did not get any more towels.
- 4/5
The young lady at the front desk was very helpful and cheerful. The carpet in the room needs to be cleaned and the drapes were worn.
- 1/5
Could hear dogs barking all day The showers were horrible the water has to much pressure..
- 4/5
The room was comfortable and clean. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The only reason for a mediocre rating on amenities was that I could not get the closed captioning to work on my TV (room 309). An old, deaf man like me needs closed captioning!
- 4/5
Extra dose of scented room freshener seemed to have been applied so we had to open windows to neutralize. Light bulbs were mostly very blue and not warm colored. Was a fine experience just being fussy. Staff was pleasant.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and personable rooms were very nice and clean full size fridge and stove for cooking
- 4/5
Very nice place to stay
- 3/5
Room had a bad odor like heavy carpet fresh. Caused bad headache.

- 5/5
Yes, clean room, nice kitchen, and bathroom.
- 5/5
Clean and good location
- 4/5
Didn't use the laundry. Didn't get near the kitchen, no free breakfast. Sorry to say that I felt itch on my body. I saw a tag that dogs are allowed do I figured maybe a flea or 2. Got so busy that we missed the swimming pool. Other than that I say it was ok
- 5/5
Clean property, friendly and professional staff.
- 5/5
The hotel was amazing! We got the double bed suite and it was so clean and the kitchenette was perfect. The pool and grilling area was perfect for relaxing too
- 2.5/5
Rooms smelt like mildew, parkinglot was completely packed
- 5/5
Location, facilities, comfort, price. But, most of all…the staff. I have cardiac issues and hearing issues. The staff was exceptionally accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly!
- 5/5
The room was clean and neat and I had everything I needed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was easy to access and check in and out was easy! Would definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
Our first room had a pet odor, the lobby was slightly unkept when we arrived, sadly it still was when we left the next morning. Elevator wasn't working and had to carry luggage down the stairs. No fun
- 4/5
Comfort Worn chair
- 5/5
Front Staff friendly and alert clean room
- 4/5
Very affordable and clean. Stayed one night prior to a cruise. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- 5/5
Great property with friendly staff. The room was nice with complete kitchennette and a dishwasher. Would definitely stay there again.
- 1/5
The staff The facilities. There is a horrible smell in the closets, elevator and the hallways - like the carpets haven’t been cleaned in ages. The bathroom lights are disgusting and need to be cleaned. The elevator is extremely slow and needs to be upgraded. The fact that the rooms are turned over once a week is also pretty disgusting. There is a humidity within the hotel that makes the smell even worse.
- 5/5
Amazing customer service
- 3/5
On our second night we had to remove 2 different bugs from the room. The property is tired, clean but tired. No bath mat/towel. Only 2 washcloths. It worked for our needs, however it could use a freshening.
- 5/5
I left my charger and the staff located it for me. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
Did not use laundry services
- 5/5
Wonderful staff. Nice lobby and room. The only complaint is that there was not a table on each side of the very comfortable bed.
- 4/5
The front desk Associate was extremely nice and professional!
- 3/5
Room was clean and bed comfortable
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful when I left my phone charger in my room after I had checked out.
- 5/5
Five stars
- 2/5
Area were damaged and water was out for a period of time, with noticed. And buds in the roonm and weird odors.
- 1/5
Don't stay here, this is the worst hotel I've ever seen in my whole life. Our room was infested with roaches and has a stinky smell. The problem is the reception guy, he knows how our room was terrible and let us stay in the room, he told us afterwards that most of the rooms at this hotel have roaches and they have reported this to the management long time ago. When I asked him to move us to another room, first he apologized that he won't be able to change our room because the reservation was done through a third party and he can't do anything to us. Can you believe it my husband and I with two kids were at the reception area at night bagging for this guy to charge our room. Finally, after 30 minutes he changed our room to one king bed room which made the things worst 4 people will sleep on 1 king bed we had to agree because it was midnight and we can't go anywhere else with two kids, really If I could rate this hotel zero I would do that. Save your money, health, time and comfortable and stay away from this hotel. I wonder how some reviews gave this hotel high rate.
- 4/5
Yes it was very nice. The beds were very comfortable.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, easy check in/check out. Room was clean and the wheelchair-accessible room was easy to navigate.
- 5/5
1 day stay and we enjoyed our room, location to dinner.
- 0.5/5
Staff Room, roaches were crawling in the bathroom. Microwave was blinking on and off.
- 2.5/5
The place didn’t smell good. The sheets felt gross. The humidity in the room was ridiculous. For $170/night I would expect cleaner facilities. No breakfast. See above
- 4/5
Pillows ... TV
- 5/5
The rooms were cleaned and kept well, the location is central to many stores and outlet roads to Houston and galveston. Also if emergencies occur you'll be glad to know there's a few options of medical treatment places nearby as well. The staff was welcoming and accommodate anything just by text or a visit to the front counter.
- 2/5
Staff on the first 2 days was great, Saturday and Sunday, very accommodating and helpful with printing some document as the business desk printer didn't work. However on Monday morning the African American lady at the front desk said she didn't have a printer and simply refused to help me. When I told her that the rest of the staff was able to help me by printing from the front desk printer she got very annoyed. She said she didn't know how to use the computer and couldn't print anything for me. It was such a stark contrast with the rest of the staff who went out of their way to be accommodating.
- 4.5/5
Bathroom needed help Cracked ties and vanity definitely needs to be replaced
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
The bed was super comfortable, the shower excellent, and the air conditioning blasted cold. The room was smallish, but it didn't bother me. The lazy boy was also comfortable. The kitchen provides plates, silverware, and pots and pans so you have everything you need to cook and a dishwasher to clean up Two downsides were the hotel wi-fi worked terribly for me so I had to use my hot spot and there is no complimentary breakfast. They do have a nice grind to order coffee machine that ran 24/7 and created above average coffee I highly recommend this hotel is you are looking for a budget friendly place that doesn't feel like you are traveling on the cheap
- 5/5
Nothing major but besides my room wasn't ready when I arrived had to wait.
- 5/5
Front desk lady was incredible. Couldn’t ask for a nicer more helpful person. N/A
- 4/5
Nothing, it was good. The rooms were nice and big, or at least the one I was in. It had an oven, dishwasher and more.

- 3.5/5
No breakfast available. There was a dog in the room across from ours that barked quite a bit. Bed was comfortable. Shower was good. Kitchenette needed some repair.
- 2.5/5
Bugs in the room and smelled bad
- 3/5
everything was fine except we had little roaches in the room, we understood that this is place where people live too so we didn't expect 5 star everything was very clean it was just that we saw a few staff and cleaning crew were very courteous and professional
- 1/5
The kitchen was fully equipped . The worst thing was . Theres alot of roaches.
- 1/5
Terrible staff
- 5/5
Good service
- 4/5
Great front desk service
- 4/5
The property is s bit old, but it's clean and the area is safe
- 5/5
Check in was smooth and Alan was friendly to us. He took the time to explain everything to make sure we understood. The room was clean and in good order. The small kitchen area had plates, cups, silverware...all we needed was the food. Ready for a great stay.
- 3/5
It was ok. Clean bed and room but smelt funny until we opened a window for a couple days. 3rd floor stank of weed for the 4 days that we stayed. Didn't bother me as an adult but families with children were there and if I had my kids with me I'd be pi**ed off. Laundry facilities are good. Didn't replace our liquid hand soap for 4 days , only had bars.
- 4/5
Room was clean. Staff was all very nice check in and out. No issues at all.
- 5/5
I really like staying at this hotel. Everything is easy and convenient. Staff is friendly. Bed is comfortable and room is clean. It is an incredible value.
- 5/5
Will stay again
- 5/5
Clean
- 5/5
We just had a four night stay at this property and I was well pleased. The staff was outstanding and bed comfort was phenomenal. Our room was clean and all of the facilities worked properly. In fact, if you've ever struggled with low water pressure in other places, that is not a problem here! The shower pressure was akin to a pressure washer. There was a mild "scent" to the room but this is a pet friendly place after all, so to be expected. Bottom line is that if I had to stay in League City again in the near future I would happily stay at this property.
- 4/5
I was impressed with the room size and the mini kitchen with a full size fridge and dishwasher. Even though I didnt need all that, it was really nice to have. The only issue was I did see a couple of small roaches in the kitchen area in the mornings. The staff was great!
- 4/5
It was cool, nice amenities and staff but I did see a roach.
- 2/5
The bad thing about it was my bathroom head.Three broken tiles to where i would rock , every time I walked in. They were not very prompt on cleaning the room when I was away.Even though I put a sign out. There guest service area didn't have things if you left behind such as toothpaste and others such things on sale.
- 5/5
Clean room. great checkin.
- 5/5
The room was spotless and the staff was great!
- 5/5
Everything was great. Friendly staff very welcoming and room was great. Will definitely be back.
- 5/5
Room was great. Staff was super helpful. Will be back.
- 4/5
The room that we had was facing the highway, so lots of noise. The check in lady was sleeping in her chair when we got there. It took her a minute to get up to check us in. The room was clean. We didn't use the kitchen (except the coffee pot), but it appeared to be in order. The refrigerator was cold, just for our needs.
- 5/5
Very clean and quiet rooms. Staff was very friendly at check-in. Plenty of good restaurants near by.
- 4/5
It was exactly what we needed
- 4/5
The staff was super and even retrieved our food from Gio's Flying Pizza & Pasta that we had left in the refrigerator after checking out.
- 1/5
The front desk girl called me stupid and was very rude and said she ain’t got time for stupid games and stupid people she worried about the people in the front more than people on phone we were wasting her time and she got mad and tried running my credit card over 600$ very unprofessional
- 4/5
Okay. Room is a bit dated. Older TV & very dim lighting. Light fixture by the be not operating properly.
- 2/5
There were roaches and ants all over my stuff the first night so I was moved to a second room, but that room even had small baby roaches and medium sized roaches, at least two per day popped up. When I decided to have dinner in the room the last day, about 10 medium sized roaches came out of nowhere and started running across tables and the floor and the trash can and some got on the table on my food, so that last night was pretty awful sleeping there. Staff seemed to be nice though.
- 5/5
Vero nice place for spend the night
- 4/5
Some updating in bathroom
- 5/5
Good property
- 5/5
Very nice staff room was clean and spacious close to dining places and shopping stores
- 5/5
Property and room were very nice
- 5/5
Great staff
- 2/5
They probably need to stop allowing pets it smelled horrible in there. Like dog and mold we had to change rooms from 3rd floor to 1st and it still smelled. We only stayed due to not much option other places were booked. It's not a bad property but the mold and dog smell makes it bad. The staff was nice.
- 3/5
Only one person working, so check-in too a bit long.
- 4/5
Bathtub was large enough for a grown person to actually sit inside. Everything was clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
I liked that is was quiet. Closeness to shopping.
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 4/5
The first room odor was bad and the tv didn’t work so they put me in another room and it was much better
- 4/5
Staff are great
- 4/5
Room was comfortable and clean
- 4/5
Room was nice, very quiet. Had a few roaches in the tub when I woke up. That was my only complaint.
- 2/5
Bugs in room. Had flooded and dehumidifiers in all the floors. Made the place smell really bad. Room really stink.
- 3/5
Our room has a terrible musty smell and the entire property needs updating
- 4/5
room smell, very musty blinds had holes in them very cordial and friendly staff cordial
- 4/5
Arrived late and was afraid I wouldn’t have anybody to speak with after about 15 or 20 minutes. Someone did show up at the desk, but it was extremely clean very efficient and one of the nicest rooms for the money I’ve ever had.
- 3/5
There were roaches everywhere. Killed a big one on 8/14/25. Left a day earlier . Nights get very hot. They control the temperature. Need for them to vacuum good/pest prevention & cleaner smelling sheets/pillow case . Mediocre! Needed the place as our air conditioner broke down . Property has good location but very poor room maintenance!
- 3/5
Need towels changed every 2-3 days and need thrash taken out too, frequently to avoid roaches.
- 1/5
Sent in Review : Horrible experience due to roaches in the room. Arrived day early due to cruise out of Galveston. Could not even rest due to multiple roaches in the room. Have photos but unable to attach to the review placed.
- 4/5
Great service
- 1/5
Nero is awesome
- 5/5
Stayed here many times and never disappointed.
- 4/5
I wish it would have had a continental breakfast. And I wish they would have checked trash through my stay. After 5 days there was quite a bit. Overall though it was a good stay.
- 2/5
The lady at the front desk was fantastic! We booked 2 rooms, both smelled horrible of mildew. Carpet was damp in areas. Beds were pretty hard as well.
- 5/5
Nice
- 4/5
It is an OK place to stay.
- 1/5
If I had one word to describe this hotel it would be dirty.
- 5/5
Loved it thank you!
- 5/5
Stayed there several times always great very nice people and very clean
- 4/5
:)
- 4/5
Overall good stay, had a weird/mildew smell. This was a last minute booking so it served its purpose! Was very clean on inside though & front desk staff were very friendly! Halls were moist and humid
- 4/5
Nice place to stay if you need a room with stove and refridgerator.
- 5/5
My stay was great. No complaints.
- 1/5
It was an old worn out room. The lobby is being sprayed hard with a strong scent to cover up the musk and dirty carpet smell. The room was well worn even the bathroom cabinet was worn so much there was as much wood showing as paint.
- 4/5
It was a good experience, until the ending. Someone part of the cleaning crew tried opening my door at 9:30 and I was n the shower, check out wasn’t until 11. Why did he open my door? That’s not good.
- 5/5
Every thing was ok except there was a dog that continued to bark all the time
- 5/5
We traveled with our young family of 5. This was exactly what we needed. The kitchenette was perfect for our needs, the room was clean, shower was hot. Perfect location in League City in a good neighborhood. The staff was friendly & helpful. The property has been updated/remodeled (I have seen previous reviews and wanted to clarify).
- 4/5
Property wasn’t bad. Just stayed over night to leave for our cruise the next day.
- 4/5
I gave the property a 4/5 overall because every time we needed something they would tell us they were short staffed and come and get it.
- 1/5
My stay is from June 23 to July 3rd. I am here for radiation treatment at MD Anderson medical center. The treatments require rest and good nights of sleep neither of these I have received so far. Room 1404 @ $200 per night smelled of a very wet basement, the refrigerator leaked water on the floor and the humidity was so high the sheets and blankets felt wet all night. We stayed 6 nights in this room hoping it would remedy itself, it did not. The front desk put us in room 1601 @ $200 per night and when we moved all of our belongings I noticed the king bed was literally two double beds pushed together. This left a huge crack down the center of the bed which I’m sure is going to be very uncomfortable. My wife and very young son have come with me this visit to support me during cancer surgery and two weeks of radiation therapy. My son sleeps with us in our bed and will do the same during this visit. Now someone has to sleep on this crack the Hilton has provided. I’m sure this is not a Hilton standard but if it is I will not stay at a Hilton again, rest assured. The front desk told me there is nothing they could do for us which is very very disappointing. I appreciate the opportunity to review your hotel with you and I look forward to reviewing it on other platforms. Ted Pechie.
- 5/5
Very nice people and accommodations
- 4/5
The room was ok, the bed was very comfortable but the bathroom was need of repairs, flooring broken, shower curtain tore,
- 5/5
The room was very clean and beds very comfortable. Loved the kitchen side. Always love staying at Candlewood.
- 5/5
Everything
- 5/5
It's a mini home away from home.
- 3/5
Bed was small for queen
- 2/5
Ok is best I can say. They did not service the room
- 5/5
We had a 1 bedroom King suite, it was small, but it was perfect for us because we did not spend much time in the room. I saw a larger suite walking by, where house keeping was working, and its HUGE!
- 2/5
The service was bad, the room was dark, there was no TV, and no helpful response from management.
- 3/5
Its an ok place but bring a wall charger to charge your phones. No USB plugs. Its an older hotel.
- 5/5
Because I booked thru Expedia I was told the king size room was not available anymore.
- 1/5
The pictures just aren’t accurate or current. All of the rooms I saw were in rough shape. Broken cabinets, busted drawers, smelly carpet, Sheetrock peeling off in several rooms. All of that I could have overlooked, but the lack of sleep from the noisy air conditioner and noisy refrigerator were unbearable. The place is just awful. They really need to invest in a renovation. I would not recommend it to anyone.
- 1/5
This property is run down and smells of mold. The front desk manager was rude and unhelpful. We typically stay in another property across the street but wanted to save a little extra money since it was one night... not again
- 4/5
It was great!
- 4/5
It was good
- 3/5
This is a well used hotel. Our bathroom toilet had a leak…plumber came to fix but didn’t clean up after the leak. Door to bathroom didn’t open all the way so sink was hard to access. Bed and temperatures were comfortable.
- 4/5
Located close to MD Anderson.
- 3/5
Did sleep well, though, and nobody was rude.
- 1/5
The room was small not much room. It had a horrible old smell. We were not aware that y'all allow pets to stay at the hotel. The hallway was hot and the elevator made a loud noise.
- 5/5
The counter staff was not present and had to shoot a greeting to be helped. But, other than that it was all fine.
- 2/5
Room smelled like mildew. Nasty and it was next to MD Anderson Cancer Center where we were going. Never Never again
- 4/5
Some of the items in the room didnt line up, like doors wouldnt open all the way due to layout, but other than that, great place. 100% would stay again. Clean and quiet
- 4/5
Close to to the medical offices I needed to visit.
- 2/5
Room was not very clean, smelled of a strong deodorizer to try to cover up an issue… Oder was so strong that I couldn’t sleep well. Sheets had staines on them. The grass was tall and unkept.
- 5/5
Very nice representative at the front desk. She was so sweet! An elder we really adored her. A great spirit!
- 2/5
It was an okay stay but the room they gave me smelled like cat pee and was extremely humid. It smelled so bad and was hard to breathe. Otherwise it was peaceful and the room was *moderately* clean.
- 5/5
Niro and crew make my stay perfect
- 4/5
Located near fast food spots! The building is a little older but great stay!
- 4/5
Pros: clean and quiet, nice kitchenette, immaculate property all around. One minor con: My mattress was very squeaky, but it didn't wake me up at night
- 5/5
Quick check in staff was very friendly the property was super clean
- 5/5
The management or staff was able to accommodate my late arrival and provided a quiet, comfortable, and clean environment for my stay. This location is very close to several restaurants and shopping. It's conveniently close to the intersate which made travel to and from my family related events easy. The parking is shared with other nearby hotels and seems a little small in my opinion, otherwise I enjoyed my stay and I'd recommend this hotel.
- 4/5
The first room smells bad , but the gentleman in front desk changed fast with no problem, very nice personal
- 4/5
Everything about my stay was very impressive. I would give them 10 out of five stars except for one massive client satisfaction oversight. Loud aggressive melodramatic Political propaganda was playing 24/7 on the TV in the lobby. This gives me problems with my PTSD. It should be common sense to put it on a channel that makes people feel safe like Nat Geo or discovery instead of something reminiscent of the third Reich or North Korea. The workaround is to wear noise canceling headphones when I’m getting coffee in the morning, but I had to go back to my room to get them the first time. Also not everyone has expensive headphones to protect themselves.
- 5/5
Great Value
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly. Lobby was clean and welcoming. Room was very comfortable. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.
- 5/5
I would like to say from the management to the agents to the housekeepers and the groundkeepers of this place they have always been very pleasant very respectful.
- 1/5
Upon check out, and as in past experience in many of the other hotels I have booked through, I requested a print out of the charges but the front desk clerk and the manager refused. I do this to ensure the charges are correct and the incidentals will not used will be reimbursed to me. Was todl I would receive the final charges directly from Expedia. Please send as given the front desk staff, I do not trust they will have done so. Thank you.
- 2/5
There was roaches in the rooms and the the elevators were very dirty
- 5/5
Na
- 5/5
Close yo where I wsnted to visit
- 4/5
It was not excellent but fair price point for property
- 3/5
No tissue paper ( very unusual). No breakfast, but coffee available & and a mini freezer to purchase food from. We bought stoufer’s frozen dinners breakfast bowls( reasonably priced). I bought a pint of ice cream and it was all iced over , it apparently had deforested at least twice and refrozen, couldn’t eat it. Went down to lobby to complain… no one there… it was around 8pm. The room had a very nice mini kitchen.
- 5/5
Clean
- 4/5
Too bad there is no breakfast service. Did not sleep well. Blackout curtains were nice but bed was poor - mashed areas within the mattress.
- 5/5
Nice and quiet clean rooms.
- 3/5
Hotel is outdated
- 5/5
Nice clean suites awesome kitchenette.
- 5/5
Have stayed here couple times. Nice kitchenette. Convenient and comfortable. Great deal for the money! Close to everything. Will stay again.
- 1/5
Not good
- 5/5
The elevator didn't work
- 5/5
Amazing with friendly people
- 1/5
The room had a strange smell but the bed was very comfortable.
- 5/5
Clean quiet hotel!
- 5/5
I stay here often so I’m familiar with the hotel and area. I won’t stay anywhere else.
- 4/5
The front desk clerk was very helpful with the shower faucet
- 5/5
Under construction but great stay
- 4/5
Didn’t like the noise outside my door all night
- 3/5
I had booked a king suite & when we got here they put us in a 1 queen bed suite. I showed them my receipt & was told there were no king beds available. They then put me in a 1 bedroom suite but it still was just a queen bed. They finally gave us a room with 2 full beds, still unacceptable since I booked & paid for days before a king bed.
- 4/5
The room smells. Like carpet fragrance. Or perfume. If was just fine other than those two issues.
- 4/5
Nice and very clean property. Reception employee was gentle and polite. Only one aspect did not meet my expectations- they are unable or not willing to issue any receipt even for cash payment I made for the purchase I made from their “store”. Hopefully they don’t put those charges again with my room.
- 5/5
Very happy with my stay. Clean. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Great value.

I waited at front desk for over 15 minutes for person to check me in. No one was at front desk. She went to get her "food". Unacceptable!
